imagine if after the transmigration shen qingqiu became a combination of shen yuan and shen jiu, not in a "second person living in my head" kind of way, but a "this house is haunted and carries the echoes of the dead" kind of way; imagine shen yuan having nightmares about a house, a fire, a faceless boy behind a door he can't remember; imagine him having flashes of emotions he doesn't understand, rage at a name he doesn't recognize, helplessness when yue qingyuan apologizes for something he won't mention, nausea when ning yingying says the name "a-luo"; imagine parts of his own self have changed too, how he now likes bows in his hair, pretty flowers and flowing robes, but can no longer stand a stranger's touch, a man's touch, yet he longs for the brothels, but never sexually, only fondly, like there's something there he misses. there are many empty spaces in his heart where he feels something is missing

I've seen a few times in Dp x DC fics when Danny is first introduced to the Justice League and meets Captain Marvel, that they both know the other is actually a kid and not an immortal being, but pretends to be old friends so as to not be outed and tricks the JL together.
Now I bring you, neither of them know the other is a kid and both Actually think the other is immortal but still somehow ends up pretending to be besties. How? Time travel.
This is their actual first meeting, but in the future, Danny will time travel back to the past and meet past Champions of Magic. Billy, as the current Champion of Magic, has inherited the knowledge of these meetings, but thinks they happened chronologically = Phantom is immortal. So he use that knowledge to bullshit his way into pretending he's been all those old Champions and greets Danny as an old friend to sell his Old as Shit act before the JL.
Danny in turn doesn't know about those past meetings but he Does know about time travel. So when Captain Marvel greets him like an old friend and start recounting their different meetings throughout history, Danny assumes he's gonna time travel and do all those things one day (accurately). But he's pretending to be immortal, not a time traveling teen, and so has to pretend that he Totally Remembers That One Time In Greece, Yup!

:D i think ur art style and character designs are rlly neat !! Do you have any tips for making the same characters look consistent?
Thank u so much !!! 💜
The only thing I can think of is that you should draw your characters Over and Over again; they might slightly morph and change the more you draw them (specially considering artstyle changes), but you'll hopefully land in a spot where you're comfortable drawing them from memory.
Putting my favorite OC here as an example because I draw him the most + I love him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His design isn't very distinct, he's meant to look like Just some guy, but you're still able to tell it's the same character, despite not looking super consistent the first few months I spent drawing him.
I reckon it's easy to get stuck with the idea that you need to be 100% accurate, otherwise your character will turn out unrecognizable, but I think you should prioritize what feels good and fun to draw, and everything else will hopefully fall into place : -]

Hi, thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it! Here are some excerpts from this previous post that could be what you're describing:
Localized Memory Loss - the missing memory covers a defined period of time (e.g., childhood, up to 13-14 years old).
This type of memory loss may occur in Dissociative Amnesia:
Part of the dissociative disorders.
It manifests as an inability to remember information that is personally important but possibly traumatic or stressful.
Previously called psychogenic amnesia.
This disorder can arise in a person of any age.
The memory impairment in this disorder is reversible.
And some additional information on Dissociative Amnesia:
Involves not being able to recall information about oneself (not normal forgetting).
Usually caused by trauma or stress.
Diagnosis is based on history after ruling out other causes of amnesia.
Treatment is psychotherapy, sometimes combined with hypnosis or medication-facilitated interviews.
May be:
localized – unable to remember an event or period of time (most common type)
selective – unable to remember a specific aspect of an event or some events within a period of time
generalized – complete loss of identity and life history (rare)
Dissociative amnesia is associated with having experiences of childhood trauma, and particularly with experiences of emotional abuse and emotional neglect.
People may not be aware of their memory loss or may have only limited awareness.
And people may minimize the importance of memory loss about a particular event or time.
In dissociative amnesia, the information lost would normally be part of conscious awareness and would be described as autobiographic memory.
Although the forgotten information may be inaccessible to consciousness, it sometimes continues to influence behavior (e.g., a woman who was raped in an elevator refuses to ride in elevators even though she cannot recall the rape).
Dissociative amnesia is likely underdetected.
Prevalence is not well-established, but estimates range from 0.2 to 7.3% (1).
The amnesia appears to be caused by traumatic or stressful experiences:
endured or witnessed (e.g., physical or sexual abuse, rape, combat, genocide, natural disasters, death of a loved one, serious financial troubles) or by
tremendous internal conflict (e.g., turmoil over guilt-ridden impulses or actions, apparently unresolvable interpersonal difficulties, criminal behaviors).
The main symptom of dissociative amnesia is memory loss that is inconsistent with normal forgetfulness.
The amnesia may be for a discrete period of time, for certain types of experiences, or for large portions of childhood. (Localized; Selective; Generalized)
Rarely, dissociative amnesia is accompanied by purposeful travel or bewildered wandering, called fugue (from the Latin word fugere "to flee").
Localized amnesia involves:
being unable to recall a specific event or events or a specific period of time; these gaps in memory are usually related to trauma or stress. For example, patients may forget the months or years of being abused as a child or the days spent in intense combat.
Not manifest for hours, days, or longer after the traumatic period.
Usually, the forgotten time period, which can range from minutes to decades, is clearly demarcated.
Typically, patients experience one or more episodes of memory loss.

Choose which of these information are most appropriate in developing your specific character. You can find more details in that previous post as well as the linked sources. But also consider the other types of amnesia if they are more suitable. Hope this helps with your writing!

How Childhood Trauma Can Show Up In Adulthood
Childhood trauma can have a deep and lasting impact on your development, some scenarios we would not even consider to be " trauma" but it comes down to how you as a child perceived the situation. To add to that, you could have had a great childhood factually, or by your understanding, because it is all you knew. I’ll give you an example, do you find yourself putting everyone else before you? Maybe when you were little you had an experience with a parent where they put someone else before you in a situation that was significant to you at the time, and that feeling got registered in your subconscious. Maybe you got rewarded for the experience or reprimanded. It could have been very harmless. You may not even remember unless you start to think about it. None the less the root of a lot of our triggers, habits and insecurities boil down to our childhood experiences, that stay buried in our subconscious and often manifesting in various ways during adulthood.
You have a have a hard time controlling your feelings. You might get super angry or not feel anything at all.
You are scared to fail.
You blame yourself for your mistakes and bad choices from your past and have a hard time forgiving yourself.
You worry about what other people think about you or in general and may feel scared a lot.
You are too clingy or too distant and cant find a balance.
You don't trust yourself to make decisions and need constant validation or someone else to make decisions for you.
You feel really sad and down most of the time.
You suffer from negative self talk, are very hard on yourself and really believe those things to be true.
You constantly criticize others.
You need external validation to feel accepted.
You are always anxious.
You are hypersensitive to criticism.
You are terrified of change.
You find it hard to take compliments and truly believe you are not worthy.
You find it hard to keep good relationships because you're scared of getting hurt and feel like you cant get close to others.
You try to be perfect and want to do everything perfectly because you think it will help avoid bad things from happening.
You might eat too much or too little because you are feeling bad or want to control things.
You can't stop thinking about bad stuff that happened before and might have nightmares or feel like they're living it again.
You may feel like they're not really in their body or like things around them aren't real because of what happened in the past.
You avoid things because they remind you of bad stuff that happened.
Sometimes people stay away from things that remind them of bad stuff that happened.
You might have more health problems like headaches or stomachaches.
You do things that hurt you or others, and you don't even realize it because you learned it from when you were young.
You might work extra hard to be successful because you want others to like you or because you don't feel good about yourself.
You rather be alone because you feel embarrassed or worried about what others think.
You try really hard to control everything in your life.
You water yourself down and put everyone else before you.
