PSA To the Phantom, we have a Troll/Stalker!

Those who know me know this is somthing I won't typically resort to this, but today, I've reached the end of my long patience. ( one and half a year of patience) There is a Stalker/ Troll whose whole stick is trying to get people to draw Dani and Danny fan art. Thir asks will look like this. They will delete them as soon as you answer. I mod on a few Discord servers, so when I informed people on Discord that I had a digital stalker, someone reached out to me to ask me if this was them, as they didn't want to deal with what I had to put up with. That's how I got a hold of this:

On Deviantart, they try to get into people's good graces by subscribing and donating a dollar. (it's a tip you can do on DA, not required) They ask you to do art, and if you bite, They won't stop pestering you about it. Like you didn't do it fast enough, or you didn't do it. And if you do, they have a new request lined up the minute you post the last. So it's never good enough. They will try to monopolize your time, and you never get time to draw what you want to if you try being kind at first. One telltale sign that it's them is that if you reply to them, they will delete all their messages with you after your reply to avoid detection by moderators.

I've tried to block them multiple times, And I suspect DA staff have banned some of their accounts.

They don't understand no and stay away or that people have boundaries. I've reported them multiple times. They have been suspended multiple times (I was lucky enough to get this screenshot for a suspended account)

They have been bothering me since Aug 28, 2023 and the latest block for this person was today.

This is me reaching out to others in my discord communities over time for help, showing what it did to me mentally and why I no longer take art requests. (For the privacy of the other users, I've only included what needed to go in there with their usernames hidden.) The only other user by name than me is the stalker.

I lay myself bare to you phandom community so that you may not suffer silently by JacobFritzsching1 hand. I know I'm not his only target. I've stayed quiet and done what I could for a year and a half. They have not let up, and I fear they are driving good people out of the community through their behavior. I will confess to thoughts of wanting to permanently delete my stuff just to escape this stalker. But I'm not letting them win. I am a Phandom elder, I have been a phan since the show since it aired back in the day; some of you may know me by my old username Jeanette9a, some of you will know I'm sited as one of the earlier ones to keep DP ship names list that now exisits on Ao3, and I have to use my every connection and pull to see this troll/stalker not mess with more of my fellow Phandom community. That so be it. I will pull out my megaphone and scram their misdeeds to heaves, so they may never walk anywhere without people knowing who JacobFritzsching1 is in regards to the phandom. You wanted attention well, here you go may I hope you enjoy what you have sown.

Would you as a person stay in a relationship for a year with someone who.

1. Consistently, touches, hugs, looks at, talks about, heart eyes and is unhinged with.

The way Nic and Luke were with each other on the WT and then at the SAGs it is just too much evidence to the contrary. You will never convince me that they are in relationships with other people, especially Luke when he acts like that with Nic.

That man wears his heart on his sleeve, he did when he was with Jade and Sophie. You see the same behaviour with Nic. The Antlukes can not come here and tell me that he does not act the same because it is a new relationship, ummmm NO. If there theory is true they had been together since end of 23. So not new, just not together. He is a hostage in a situation he can not get out of.

Nic is clever, she is chronically on line, she sees what people say. She knows that no one is buying it. On X everyone is laughing at the pics, and People magazine for mentioning Nic. Just like the JD article mention Luke.

I draw your attention to what matters

1. Public opinion -Recent SAG awards, everyone’s still focused on N&L and that narrative not budging. People circulate and continue to spread Nicluke content.

2. The rings, explain away that….we can’t they are connected to Season 3 and Luke and hardly leave Nics hand worn in the Engaged/Married position

3. The Polaroids- have been on Nics phone since Australia. And seen on her phone as recent as two weeks ago. They are posted on her grid.

4. Chaos week - and the fact that Nic comes to Luke’s defence.

5. The only significant other on each person’s IG grid is Nic and Luke. 🐜 has removed every trace of Luke even in tags, Luke’s PR team has wiped everything and continues to monitor Wiki pages to scrub.

6. The subtle shipping of cast, crew, media, and industry. Shonda, Netflix, Ryan Wheeler, Jack Murphy, make up artist.

We will just have to be patient. BAFTA nominations get released end of next week. I am sure we will get a repeat of the SAGS

People who are in love or have been in love know that they would do anything for them. I have been married for 20years to my best friend. And the way Luke acts around 🐜 does not say LOVE. It says angry, upset and uncomfortable. Embarrassed even.

You ever watch a crime drama where a detective is going around trying to talk to witnesses and everyone's too scared to say anything?

Okay, imagine basically a year of that.

Last April is when I noticed first that he'd basically yoinked some tags I left on another person's post to make his own post. Then I saw him do something like that to someone else that I didn't know and couldn't talk to.

Then I saw someone post about their fic idea they were working on, people reblogged all excited, including me. Then about an hour or so later PCCP began his own fic with the same idea.

The general post yoinking kept on for a while, and then I assume people know at this point that the fic thing happened to spirker. I talked to spirker privately about it and encouraged blocking. They worked it out privately and I was asked to not pursue. Out of respect, I did not, but I kept paying attention, and I especially was not fond of the guilt tripping way PCCP talked about this.

This was roughly around the time bizarrelittlemew noticed he'd basically rewritten a post from someone else and reblogged the original so they were doing the rounds at the same time. A screenshot of that "coincidence" made the rounds as a funny post? Which was baffling to me.

I talked to at least two other authors who also didn't want to do any kind of confrontation. Add to that a couple other people who'd noticed he was taking post ideas. Still, no one wanted to go anywhere with it. Meanwhile, random fics happened that sounded similar to others --spaceship plots, BDSM clubs, etc. You can probably find these.

Last summer, I posted my first major fic for this fandom, on an account I actually had not intended to link to this art account. (I sort of wanted the writing to stand on its own, and also, I usually post fluffy things for art while writing can get messier.) That made me a no name, and the fic wasn't immediately noticed, but shortly after, I got a kudos from PCCP. And knowing what he had done to other people, I decided to own the fic on this relatively large account so that if he did anything he'd know it was me. And he did. The next day after kudosing the fic, he took a joke from it about Stede falling through the roof to make his own short tumblr fic. A little after that he messaged me to say he really loved my fic and was working on leaving a comment. That never happened, and I was unwilling to talk to him further privately because I have had experience with manipulators that will threaten you with their mental health. If I were going to confront him, I'd prefer witnesses.

This messed me up pretty bad, btw; I was previously in a fandom where someone just search and replaced my entire fic to be about a different ship. That was September.

In October, I was posting my own personal rewatch of S2, and I made a joke about a misheard lyric in part of my large post. A few hours later, PCCP made the same joke its own post. I lost my temper and tried again to talk to people. No one was particularly willing, and I didn't think at that point that any of the examples I personally had the right to share with people, since I'd been asked to drop it by others, would convince anyone.

So, I blocked him outright. The only reason I hadn't before then was because I was still trying to keep track of when he did this shit to people, and like motherfucking clockwork I get a message alerting me that he was posting a Woe Is Me spiel about getting blocked. Also, he was apparently soliciting donations in exchange for fic. Which is, you know, bad.

You'll notice I'm still being vague about examples, because I was asked to leave people out of it. Repeatedly. So I am. If you want more, you'll have to hope other writers come forward.

And basically none of this matters compared to racefaking and tumorfaking, but maybe it gives you a picture of someone with no fucking respect for other people who is willing to manipulate them to avoid consequences.

I have to admit something.

I don't get the appeal of Best Friends to Lovers, yes I am a die hard TimBern shipper, but that's less best friends to lovers considering they weren't ever BEST friends but also because Bernard and Tim met up after a long period of time and didn't really KNOW each other anymore. They changed as people into better people since their high schools days, they had a falling out, Tim also benefits more from a civilian relationship rather than another vigilante / hero in my eyes.

Like, no way am I bashing TimKon shippers, I love y'all, I was one, but it never felt right for Tim.

Do I think they had/ have feelings for one another? Hell yeah, they were pining so hard. I absolutely believe Tim was right when he told Bruce that it was hard to figure out he was bisexual with the whole vigilante thing going on, so it's a good chance that Tim never figured it out but did have feelings for Kon, and Kon absolutely had feelings for him. But never at the same time, "to fast, to slow." "To late, to soon." Et cetra, et cetra...

Do I ship TimKon TRAGICALLY? Yes, yes give me angst where they don't work out and don't get a happy ending but end up staying best friends anyways. Let me have Kon watching Tim and Bernard from the distance, listening to the way Tim's heart swells or beats faster in a way it never did with him. Let me have Tim who is happy with Bernard, but recalls moments with Kon where he thinks "Oh, that was gay." and it leaves him feeling bittersweet, because on one hand he's so happy with Bernard and is so glad HE was the one to make Tim realize he was bi. But, also, sometimes he wishes he would've kissed Kon, just once, known what his arms felt like if their hugs lasted just a moment longer, what his hand would feel like in his own... He doesn't regret a thing, he is so, so happy with Bernard, but sometimes he catches his thoughts slipping to the what-if's. Give me Kon who listens in on Tim and Bernard's dates, who purposefully avoids seeing them being intimate with hugs or kisses, because he's happy for Tim, he doesn't wanna be with Tim anymore, he doesn't! It's just that if he ever had the chance? He kinda would, and he doesn't know how bad a friend that makes him.

Give me Kon "Did you have everything you wanted?" Almost." El.

Give me Tim "In another life" Drake.

Give me Tim and Bernard, but don't dare forget to give me that TimKon that NEVER HAPPENED but it was there, maybe even haunting the narrative, because Tim and Kon wouldn't have lasted, in my eyes.

Tim needed to find himself outside Robin, know who Tim Drake was, move past grief, and to do all that he had to find himself outside Robin and all Kon knew for so long WAS Robin. Bernard helped Tim realize who Tim Drake was because that's who Bernard met and knew, there was no expectations, there was no knowledge, and maybe? Maybe Tim just liked that a tiny, tiny bit. He was independent, he was strong, everyone knew he could solve the case, win the fight, make the plan. Bernard though? His expectations were for Tim Drake, what Tim Drake was capable of, and for once maybe that was nice for Tim. Maybe just once.

So, perhaps he crushed on Kon-El, he definitely did, without realizing it. And Bernard was not his first love as Robin, maybe not even as Tim Drake, but as the person Tim found alongside his old high school friend? Yeah, that was his first love.

So, I love TimKon in the tragedy that it is, and perhaps in every other universe they wound up together, maybe they lasted, made it work, did it... But that's not a world this Tim knows, and he's okay with that, because he's in love with Bernard Dowd, and wouldn't change a thing.

Kon is happy and supportive of his best friend, but he listens in sometimes, he wishes it were him, wishes so badly at times that he just had a chance. But, what's done is done, and it's worth it to see Tim happy.

hi guys on today's episode of "vi can't be normal about one piece" we are talking about the insane parallels between zeff and sanji and luffy

guys. guys this is happening exactly as both zeff and (adult) sanji give up on their dream. zeff is at this point all but given up on the all blue and sanji now has resigned himself to the fact that he has to die to save the crew.

enter: the ones that fight for their dreams kicking screaming. stubborn and relentless.

look at this scene. this fucking scene. the blood in sanji's face and how stubborn he is about not giving up on his dream. he will not let it end here. he will weave the strings of fate himself if he has to. he will drag himself through hell. he will not give up. it doesn't end here.

this is so fucked up. luffy is fighting for his dream when he has given up on it. he is thinking "sanji can't be strong for himself now, so i will be strong for him. i will save him. from everyone waiting to harm him and from himself." sanji has buried the kid in him that longs to find the all blue and here we see luffy dig the ground the child lies in with bare hands. he will not let it end. not here. not now.

this is what kept him alive. zeff's sacrifice. zeff's gamble and belief that this kid that he doesn't even know will find the all blue. that he will do what he couldn't. now what makes this scene so important is the two ways this can be seen. in zeff's eyes, it's his choice. he chose to save sanji with no prior knowledge about anything about him because whatever he saw in sanji at that moment in the ship, he wanted to keep alive. it is an ultimately selfish motive. is it kind? yes, definitely. but it's not selfless. the other way you can see this through sanji's eyes. sanji, who has been told all he is is a burden and that his life is worthless is now being kept alive by a man who he doesn't even know. he has thrown his life away for sanji. sanji looks at it like this: "zeff is a kind man. he helped me because he couldn't let a child starve. what he did for me is an obligation where he was forced into a corner." sanji interprets this as an altruistic action and that he is now indebted to him forever.

luffy didn't sacrifice a leg for sanji, but he was ready to die. he KNEW he wouldn't, though. because he knows sanji and his bleeding heart and his love. once again, sanji and his dream is saved by another person starving for him. the main thing that distinguishes this scene from the zeff one is that this was a choice, without doubt. luffy KNOWS sanji. he has seen the ugliest parts of sanji and he still loves him. he is ready to give up his life for sanji with no ulterior motive. he doesn't want sanji to carry on his dream or do anything for him. he knows what sanji wants, but after this scene, he still asks. "what does sanji want?" he pulls the truth out of the hollows of his chest. he doesn't flinch at what he sees there. he sees sanji's hunger, want and kindness so vast that it can even be considered naive. he doesn't flinch. he simply smiles.

A lot of debates have been going around on what is Cassandra's sexuality, some people said that she is a lesbian, others claims that she's asexual, but some said that she's bisexual.

What do you think her sexuality is based on previous love interests or previous runs of the early years from 1999 and early 2000 to today along with the out-of-continuity story?

Questions on Cass' sexuality are highly dependent on the person! For Cass in particular, the majority of takes about her sexuality come from Horrocks' run in Batgirl (2000), which is ambiguous and open-ended. There are multiple amazing readings that see her as aro/ace, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, questioning etc. So I'm not going to give a definitive answer here, and these thoughts are all my own - nothing I say here is meant to invalidate anyone else's interpretation.

Preamble aside, I don't think of Cass in a specific label tbh. I don't think she would have such an identitarian view of sexuality - that is, she wouldn't think of herself as 'a lesbian', even if she exclusively likes girls. That's not to say people can't call her a lesbian, or that she will never call herself a lesbian. I just think her sexuality is more fluid, and more exploratory, than a single category.

She does experience heteronormativity. Despite her upbringing being what it was, as soon as she entered the world she would've been exposed to heteronormative ideals, compounded by her love for reality TV, her main romantic ideal being DickBabs, and being around TimSteph. This heteronormativity of course influences the way she falls in love with men, in particular the whole Kon situation, which I read (as most people do) as comphet. The Cass-Kon thing though is also about Cass parsing out friendship from romantic feelings, so it's not really that straightforward. Meaning that while I don't think Cass ever felt anything for Kon, the comphet-ness of that relationship does not invalidate (to me) her feelings for other men.

I think that Cass has been legitimately attracted to men before, though really only Tai'Darshan. Tai is really important to Cass' awakening sexuality, so I like to think that she did love and care for him. Do I think they would've dated? Probably not. But there was something there that's not present for Cass-Kon, or other minor crushes like Cass-Sal, Cass-Javier, Cass-Dr. Shin etc. Thinking of out-of-cont texts, her relationship with Erik in Shadow of the Batgirl is also genuine to me. Also also I see the man in Batgirl (2000) #2 as Cass first 'crush', so I think she is genuinely attracted to men, but not frequently and in highly specific circumstances.

As for women, obviously as a StephCass lover I see Cass as being head over heels for Steph. I also think lesbian!Cass readings are popular because she has so much chemistry with every woman she meets: Rose, Brenda, Harper, Christine, Cela, literally every one of them has fun romantic undertones. (HarperCass, in particular, feels very romantic in B&R: E). She also has a fun ship with Xanthe who's non-binary. So Cass for me is Not Straight, and experiences attraction to other genders besides men. These are non-canon but there's only so many times you can hallucinate your best friend caressing you platonically okay?? Even though I think she can be attracted to men, I believe she's more attracted to other genders on the whole, particularly women.

All this to say I enjoy discussions on Cass' sexuality, but I view them more as 'readings' of her than definitive conclusions. In other words, there are asexual readings of CassKon, bisexual readings of TaiCass, lesbian readings of StephCass etc. that are really valuable and can coexist. The most boring reading you could have is her being straight tbh, so any other reading I find highly fascinating. It really depends on what ships people like, how they interpret Cass' sexuality exploration in Horrocks, and sometimes what they personally identify as. And that's the fun of reading + interpretation!!

Why do you ship inhun? Does the ship make sense? I don't kinda see it but I guess there is something between them, I'd really like to know your thoughts about it

Hmm. Interesting question. I do think they “make sense” in a shippable way.

Note that if you’re not into not-entirely-sane ships then it might not appeal to you. However, I can try to answer what appeals to me. I’ll try to put screen caps or links but ngl I’m not gonna try hunting down all of it. Here’s the manifesto:

1. The narrative casting them as character foils

So each character in the show often not only represent themselves, but to some extent the show’s themes. Since before Gi-hun becomes a victor, he is shown to be discongruent with the nature of the games. The first “true” meeting between In-ho and Gi-hun happens to be at this point in S1:

Mind you when this occurs, it’s after the gamemakers deliberately starve the players to incite violence between them. Deoksu/101 just killed a man. This outcome is exactly desired.

In a way this is a microcosm of the rest of their ideological struggle — that being whether or not humans are inherently selfish and cruel.

We later see the theme again during the last fight scene, when Gi-hun reaches his hand out to Sang-woo. Not only is this a moment of ultimate compassion, but for In-ho who we see is an avid lover of the arts. What else does this resemble?

The painting, The Creation of Adam. Aka the creation of man. (Stick with me on this, I promise I’ll explain).

Notice that this shot not only resembles the painting on a superficial level but in spirit. Adam is in repose and God is the one who reaches out, the one making the most effort to make a connection. In-ho’s face isn’t visible but imagine how he, looking down on it, feels at the very moment:

It’s giving new religion. Later on, In-ho will say something along these lines:

Race horses. And yet, besides his brother, at this point Gi-hun is the very first person In-ho takes his mask off for, something he does not do for even the VIPs. This scene also comes after he kills a guard because “when they find out who you are, you die.”

This treatment marks In-ho’s transition into seeing Gi-hun as his only equal (and yes, In-ho is arrogant that’s kind of his appeal, I don’t believe he thinks that highly of the VIPs either).

Another aspect is that in their final scene at Il-nam’s death bed, they are kind of marked at the inheritors of Il-nam’s system.

Gi-hun leaves Il-nam to witness his one failure. In-ho closes Il-Nam’s eyes.

So it’s the end of S1. We don’t know a lot about In-ho. However we can assume a few things. Both he and Gi-hun are both victors and victims of the oppressive system. Both of them went through anguish after their victory (In-ho’s is mostly inferred, but there’s a deleted scene paralleling Gi-hun’s). Both of them failed to save what mattered the most. Both of them can’t move on from the games and returned. They both abandoned everything in their life for this pursuit.

In a way, there is no other person in the world than can understand them more than the other.

And here is where the character foil aspect comes in. Despite their similarities, their character arcs are the opposite. Gi-hun at the beginning was kind but flawed, an impulsive gambler who could steal money from his mother and disappointed his daughter at many turns. In-ho seemingly was a well-loved, upright citizen who made sacrifices for his family.

And yet, of the two the one who became cruel and heartless was In-ho. The one who became more self-less and compassionate was Gi-hun.

How does In-ho react to meeting his polar opposite? It could easily be hatred or disdain. Instead it’s well, my next point.

2. In-ho’s subtextual obsession with Gi-hun

Season 2 within the games is when most of us really saw the ship’s potential but there are many hints beforehand.

I and others have made some posts about In-ho’s wildly inappropriate actions towards Gi-hun even in S1. Why does he have to stuff the bank card in Gi-hun’s mouth, why does he send the invitation through a bouquet of flowers (actually he sends this invitation twice), why does he decide to physically be there when meeting Gi-hun in a limo on his birthday? A day, mind you, that he needs to be prepping for the games. In-ho doesn’t have to be there, he literally talks to Gi-hun through a speaker he could be in a nice hotel room. Somehow, it’s important for him to be there.

Can this be read as anything but a fixation?

Even when he joins the game his sole focus is on Gi-hun. He makes a concerted effort for Gi-hun to like him (playing hero, baring his true wounds, defending him from the ire of other players, even coming up with an flimsy excuse because he slipped up and called Gi-hun by his name). If he wanted to torture Gi-hun, he could easily turn the players against him. According to the director, his goal is:

But in front of our eyes he does shit like this:

He even bullies his guards:

Does that look like a hit to you 😭 I dare anyone to say that a different player would have passed. Especially when In-ho interceded in the first place.

Another victim:

And the looks. so many looks. You’re not behind a camera anymore, In-ho. Gi-hun can see you.

The one that makes me laugh the most is in the last episode of S2. Gi-hun is stressed about the vote, trying to come up with a plan, and In-ho is staring so hard he’s not even blinking, to the point where Gi-hun has to look at him.

And then again. Gi-hun is explaining about the control room upstairs. Meanwhile, In-ho:

He doesn’t even glance up. He just stares at Gi-hun until Gi-hun finally looks at him. Honestly this isn’t even all of them but I don’t have everything saved.

And the ending. Honestly this part is a bit heartwrenching and I think a few of us fans ignore it (I do too), but I’m trying to contextualize canon here. It’s interesting that despite how dangerous Gi-hun is – causing the disruption of the game, killing guards, and aiming to end the games on the whole – In-ho does not kill him. He has plenty of opportunities to. He even shoots his own guards to keep Gi-hun alive (despite Gi-hun in that moment running the rebellion). But he shoots Jung-bae instead and gives Gi-hun this last lingering glance.

Arguably, you can say In-ho does all this because he is sadistic. However, if that were the sole reason, then he has 400+ people he could similarly torture every year. Hell, he could have joined the games any year he wanted, too.

If it’s just an ideological struggle, then Gi-hun lost when he decided to sacrifice the X players for the greater good. Then, we are left to wonder what else he can want with Gi-hun that he has kept him alive.

The fact that the motivations are never stated and are subtext adds a layer to how fans are free to interpret it. Lots of kindling for our fire.

(I’m not necessarily planning to prove if it’s canon in this part, it’s just a treatise on why we see their potential due to this subtext).

3. Gi-hun’s reciprocity

I think if it were just a one-sided fascinating then there would still be shippers but simply not as much. The part that hits with Inhun is that In-ho’s efforts are not necessarily “unrequited.”

In the beginning of Season 2, Gi-hun has no one. He had been isolated for three years. He has no friends. He has no home. Consider this heartwrenching shot:

Gi-hun’s on the phone, calling the only person in the world he has a connection to, and he can’t even say a word to her.

Even before this, he was largely unappreciated. His mother was disappointed in him. His ex-wife resents him. Jung-bae his friend did not help him in his time of need. Sae-byeok was only in his life for a few days, but she was rude to him for a good part of that. Sang-woo – well Sang-woo is complicated. I don’t think he meant everything he said in the fight before the end, but I do think Gi-hun is the last person on earth he wants to meet after his failures. No one really talks to him kindly besides Ali which is more of polite friendliness than looking after him.

So as a #1 Gi-hun fan, it’s really nice to see someone just genuinely seem to want Gi-hun there? Not as a last resort or as an alternative, but the first pick (in a twisted way).

And Gi-hun is so receptive to it? I made a post about this before, but Gihun is starved for affection and I don’t think all that used to being treated gently. Despite knowing In-ho for a short time, he seems so. He just kind of… opens like a flower?

The first time he laughs in this season is over In-ho’s corny last name joke.

The look in that scene in general:

4. The versatility

Finally, this is more of a meta point but it’s kind of fun that this ship doesn’t always have to be that serious? We can go from writing about deep at times darker themes of obsession and manipulation and whatnot and then turn around and clown on them for being total losers with a crush (affectionate). Usually, it’s the same person doing it. Like me in this essay. We can also just make AUs with no squid games and still have the freedom with keep the parts we like (be it obsession or devotion or a mutual understanding) and toss out the rest, and they still make sense. They just always make sense (to me).

Hi! I hope you are doing well B. For starters, I stepped back on the fandom for a while (personal reasons) but suffice it to say, it made my mind clear for a lot of things here. Do I fully believe Nic and Luke are together romantically? MAJOR YES. Do I believe that they are with adjacents? Nope. Not a bit. With A and Luke? They might be some sort of association but we all saw how it turned out. It turned sour and messy. At the very least, if they want to sell the narrative A and Luke are in a relationship, they should have tried harder than social media likes, seemingly coordinated events together, followings and that forced body language. That last one made me laugh because I asked several of my friends who knows nothing about the lore, especially the one where A and Luke are walking in together and Luke just swatted A's hand, trust me a lot of my friend side eyed that. They said, you don't do that to your gf. That's one step towards disrespect. (Their words not mine) So I tried to tell them the timeline from June 13 afterwards until today about A and they almost convinced my friends that they were dating at the beginning, but the more their interactions are seen publicly, the more they kinda seemed PR to them. One of my friends said, "I would say they've been dating if I didn't sense this feeling of forced in between them. Just fucking eerie to be honest and to think I know nothing of them. If, and if, they are truly in love with one another, people will sense that kind of comfort between two people in love. But with them? None. Like that one of the water, he sure does held her there but the distance is so visible. I'd say if that girl was my gf, I would held her closer to me even if the water is just shallow."

Fast forward to the BOSS event, my friends said when I showed them:

Friend: Oh, so they walked together at red carpet huh? They holding hands?

Me: No. At least from what I saw aside the one vid I showed you guys (the hand swatting)

Friend 2: OH girl I recognize the guy, is he from that show with balls and regency era? (Yep my friend sort of recognize Luke, so proud of Lukey here 🥹)

Me: Yep.

Friend 2: If that girl is his gf, I hate to say this but their pics together, his body language is leaning away from her. That feeling of forced again like it is sickening to watch. Advice from that girl, have more self respect and leave that relationship, because it looks like your man is in love with another girl. (At this point my friend also recognized Nic)

Friend: You know him?

Friend 2: Not really, but last year I saw some pictures of him and Miss Irish that seems like a netflix event. They were sitting in a couch and Miss Irish is sitting almost on that guy's lap. They were all over each other, mind you that couch has so much space. My oomf has been shipping them ever since.

Friend: Miss Irish?

Friend 2: You know, the girl from Derry girls.

Me : yep.

Friend 2: You know, hate comparing but Mister Newton is more comfortable with his bff than his alleged gf. Sad.

We really had interesting discussions about Nicluke lore and the entire timeline along with adjacents but talking to my friends made me realize I'm not crazy. We all are not crazy for rooting for Nic and Luke in real life. And sorry B gosh I'm just really happy and feeling refreshed that a lot of things now made so much sense to me here. The only thing I'm waiting is their official launch, hoping that my hairs don't turn gray yet.

alright, so here is my theory on what’s happening with brad and anna after 4x09. 

i think anna is playing brad with this whole scamming playpen thing; either she'll throw the blame on him and flee with the money OR she's trying to sink MQ with another scandal (first david and rachel's congress BS and now that an employee was caught trying to rob them - this would be like the kill shot to the studio essentially) and therefore "win" over brad and "destroy" the biggest rival to yara.

but like... brad is smart. surely he's being strategic by accepting the flash drive, walking into a studio that no longer employs him and flaunting it in front of david's face, right?

i don’t think brad's going to go through with the theft because there’s no textual evidence in the writing of the show to support that brad would engage in illegal activities for money* - if anything, the show has gone out of their way to prove to us that brad wouldn’t. there’s no implications he’s ever “cut corners” personally or professionally to get money, we all know he didn’t do the insider trading thing and he doesn't even steal things when he "tries car doors" at the APEX awards - he just rearranges things😭 he even confessed in season 1 that he doesn't like money just for money's sake, which is essentially what anna is proposing; brad likes ownership of people, and money is simply the best way to do that in this society. 

so then the question is, what's the advantage of brad bringing the flash drive to MQ if he's not going to use it? i think he's going to give it to some of the "techy" people or his friends in monetization and get them to figure out what's on it and whether or not there's a "digital fingerprint" on it from anna, since he's likely not familiar with that type of stuff well enough to do it himself. that way he can gain proof that she made it, so when he leaks it to the press, or the police, it doesn't look like he made it (since he’s the one with the drive that could be incriminating so he needs evidence he's not involved).

i also think showing the drive to david and making it "clear" to david he was in the building with it instead of sneaking around is a strategy (or a deliberate writing choice) because (and this is when the delusional shipping part of my brain takes over) when david's job is at stake, as is alluded to in the description of the season finale, brad can say david was the one who identified this threat and protected the company, streetfighter-quarentine-donation style (swooping in to save him and make him look good though torturing him all the while). and then this is the ultimate "you owe me big time" because brad would have saved david from career ruin so brad gets full and complete ownership back over david (and he also gets to help MQ because he’s a softie). 

i could be wrong, obviously, but this resolution is in line with brad’s established character (good guy who puts on an “evil” front because of his fear of appearing weak), aligns with his motivations (to own people, specifically david after he outsmarted him in the poker episode), ties in to the main storyline of the season (the core cast trying to “leave” MQ because of selfish ambitions only to, hopefully, come back due to love of the craft), furthers brad’s character (by placing him against someone who is, on the surface, the same as him, but highlights what makes him fundamentally different from the persona he puts on for other people), makes great suspense for the penultimate episode (audience thinking he’s going to betray MQ because, ngl, it really looks that way with what they gave us, so finale will be exciting plot twist) and sets up storylines for season 5 (brad now, for the first time in the series, has complete control over david’s strings, adding new potential plot implications for the whole cast). 

* edit: i forgot abt him trying to burn down his house for the insurance money BUT OTHER THAN THAT😭

Have you ever thought about a ride the cyclone au for the Animorphs?? I just got back into rtc and just wanted to see if someone else was thinking about it lol

First: Ride the Cyclone is amazing. I hadn't heard of it until this ask, but I just watched it and holy bananas it's good.

Second: For everyone who hasn't seen, it's a musical about six kids who are killed on the same fairground ride, who each then have one chance to persuade the Magic Zoltar machine to let one of them come back to life.

Third... Let's assume this AU picks up just after the kids ram the Blade ship, at the very end of the series.

Rachel would sing about all the things she never got to do. She wanted to marry Tobias, she wanted to see the world, she wanted to make a difference. Not just through fighting and hurting, but through building bridges and organizing activism. There's a whole version of Earth, filled with aliens, that she hasn't had the chance to see. Plus, she's had the least time alive. She's the obvious choice.

Marco would sing about the dream, now that he's dead, of being whatever kind of guy he wants to be. And what he wants is to be big and strapping and strong, big enough to fight off bullies, big enough to grab any girl or guy he pleases and swing them around, big enough to never be ashamed, big enough to live up to his parents' expectations. Death is whatever, when you think about it, the biggest cosmic joke in the world. Who cares.

Jake would sing about needing to look after those he loves. He'd explain how much his parents need him, how they can't lose a second kid. He'd sing about his hopes for his students, his desire to help them grow. He'd sing with rage, and love, and vulnerability. And then he'd concede. It should be Rachel to win. She deserves it, after all that she sacrificed.

Tobias would have the weird song, of course. About spacemen and cats, birds and transformations and it all being on you. He'd be idealistic, hoping for a future better than anything humanity has yet known, one without war and sickness, one where equality is possible and people give each other love. But death is a chance to rest, a chance to break free from the body he was gifted at birth. He chooses Rachel as well.

Cassie wouldn't sing about herself, because she isn't important. What's important is the hork-bajir nation, and her own United States. Everyone's given only one life, and does their best to use it with meaning, but that doesn't make it fair and that doesn't make it right. Every person, human or not, is just stumbling through the dark hoping to leave something behind that's just a little better than the way they found it. Which is why she votes for Rachel.

Ax would sing that he never knew how much he loved Earth, loved life itself, until he'd already lost those things. Maybe he was trapped there, but he was trapped among cinnamon buns and lush grasses and people that he loved. He spent too much time longing to leave, not nearly enough appreciating what he had.

At which point Toomin declares: looks like Rachel's the winner. They've all made compelling cases for her to go on living. He waves a hand and opens a door, and she glimpses life itself on the other side.

"That door will get me home, alive, on Earth?" she asks.

Toomin nods.

Rachel grins, and shoves Cassie through.

wanting #letbuckfuck or a buckravi fwb plotline is just begging for another bt situation, and the defense of both because “multishipping” is on of the reasons why so many bt shippers are former buddie shippers who jumped ship, or think that bc buddie shippers are defending them, their arguments hold water

it’s also another reason why tim dragged that dead horse around for so long because half of the buddie fandom were defending the “multishipper” argument rather than pointing out that making a racist character queer out of nowhere is harmful rep

it’s proof that some of yall don’t actually care about buddie and you just want to see buck kiss men onscreen (also it’s weird that yall begged for ravi to come back but are not begging for him to be used as a plot device for buck? strange behavior asking for a poc [currently] side character to come back just to craft his narrative around a white main character)

the people who are saying “it’s just a joke, don’t get so offended” are the same people who would immediately jump ship for it the moment it happened, and then would start calling buddie fans all sorts of names and throwing around buzzwords just like bt shippers did

im not gonna call it “incest” bc it’s not, but im not gonna sit around and act like it wouldn’t be a god awful writing choice that would only cause more issues than it fixes- and the fact that more people aren’t opposed to it is weird to me

i hate when two prominent characters hookup/have a short lived relationship, and then they always insist on it being a “joke” for the rest of the show, and it always gets played up for laughs but it’s never actually funny; all it does is creates this uncomfortable, awkward tension between everyone and it ruins the vibe of an ensemble.

let ravi have his OWN love interest without a) forcing his narrative to always be tied to buck’s love life regardless of if he enters a relationship in the future or not, and b) just throwing him at one of the only other prominent queer characters on the show just bc you think it’s a funny “bit”

i’m probably gonna get more hate for this bc i can’t share my opinion on something without ruffling feathers it seems, but i genuinely don’t understand how we’re 7 years into this “slow burn” and we’re losing traction with every passing day, but y’all wanna keep convoluting the plot and making things more complicated

Weaponised empathy: to understand another’s feelings and triggers, and use that knowledge against them.

Izzy knows all about weaponised empathy. That if he throws a tantrum and threatens to leave, Ed will do whatever to stop it. This might be the first time we see it as viewers, but it’s not the first time it’s happened. Ed’s resigned ‘I should deal with this’ shows no element of surprise. He’s done this little dance with Izzy many times.

Izzy doesn’t explicitly know - and neither does Ed - that when Izzy behaves in this manner, he is pressing on psychological bruising linked with Ed’s father; picking at a seam that runs through Ed like a fault-line. Izzy just knows it works.

Izzy taps into Ed’s guilt when in fact Ed is the one wronged. Ed tells Izzy he was right to call him names; tells him he can be captain of the ship; tells him he’ll kill Stede Bonnet, interpreted as a vow Ed cannot change his mind on (‘He promised me’, 106).

Last time Ed fought back against an abusive father-figure, Ed killed him; and then Ed looked within and decided whatever it was that allowed him to do that was monstrous. Ed cannot look that ‘monster’ in the eye again, and so Izzy is able to repeat the fatherly-abuse pattern because Ed has put a blindfold on introspection indefinitely.

Feeling pity or sorrow for a person who deserves it, and wanting to help in some way is not weaponised empathy despite ideas circulating currently in the world.

What Izzy is doing is. He is able to read and feel something within Ed which is broken, using it against him as a form of manipulation. It’s sociopathic to feel someone’s pain and use it for your own advancement.*

How differently Stede acts when he realises Ed’s brokenness…

*I wrote this earlier this week in response to current political rhetoric and had it sitting in my drafts. I think it comments in other ways now also. I want to reiterate: feeling empathy towards someone who tells you they are genuinely hurting, and you wanting to do something to help, is not causing the collapse of the Western world. It is what sustains us. Those that choose to manipulate natural empathy against a person for their own gain are the ones weaponising. But I would rather give my empathy to 99 who need it, and allow the one who doesn’t deserve it to take some too, than not give at all. Be smart, protect your hearts and wallets where you can, but never stop saying ‘I’m your friend’. Never stop channelling your inner Stede.

Oh what you said responding to the ask about transphobia/bigotry I've been looking for the right way to describe it: hard to romanticize! Thats like the foundation of this fandom it seems. Everything is whitewashed and stripped down to its bare bones to be the most relatable and palatable shit! Complexity for this fandom is babying regulus and feeling bad because his brother (rightfully so) left home. Like cmon are we not capable of being deeper than that. We base everything on the most bland tropes like brother's best friend and grump x sunshine! Truly moving and deep literature explores people in 3d not the 2d shells of people that can be described in singular words/attributes that bastardize them and make them walking caricatures of people (eg; Marlene = lesbian, Mary = pretty, James = sunshine, remus = wolf, and so on) the best art isn't easily palatable! The movies that leave you feeling ill or uncomfortable (in the good way) for lack of a better word are usually some of the best films. I feel like even aside from the racism, sexism and other problems of that sort, this fandom just lacks depth? We gave ourselves full creative power over these characters and bastardized them and it makes me so sad. There are so many smart and deep people in this fandom and I wish their analysis and ideas about the fabdom were he more popular ones instead of the ones that are easy to romanticize. Let's see conflict, not everyone has to be friends, people can be complex and not completely bad or good. Make them have complicated relationships outside of ships. What are the odds of about 13 people (the most popular characters) ALL finding their soul mates in highschool??? Like u can have sm fun exploring these characters but noooooooo. you are absolutely right and you really boiled down something i’ve always been frustrated with.

i’m an actor. it’s my JOB to take characters from text, to see words on paper, usually ONLY dialogue and stage directions, and create a person, a fully fleshed person with wants and goals and fears and a soul. it’s my job to use the clues that the canon text provides and make the character pop out of the page, to make them compelling, to make them HUMAN.

if it’s not human, who the fuck cares? i know i sure dont.

i don’t want to read about plastic robots as they go through all the tired, stale tropes. grumpy x sunshine, enemies to lovers, best friends brother. it’s all the same. it’s a formula. it’s spoon feeding. i’m not trying to hate on people who enjoy it but i just can’t imagine being satisfied with that. the barest touch of the surface level when there’s so much if you go deeper. so much more HUMANITY. so much more meaning.

i need grit. i need people with palpable flaws, people who don’t always get what they want falling into their laps when they want it, people who are IN THE WRONG. people who think bad things and do bad things and regret it, people who do bad things and don’t regret it. people who exist messily. people who make me uncomfortable to read about because they’re so like me and i have to face the fact that i’m not perfect.

i don’t want a perfect romanticized story where the little white boy gets rescued by the big muscular casanova. i don’t want a robotic generated formula where the perfectly placed lesbian couple get just enough sentences to be seen so that the author can feel progressive and inclusive and then the lesbians get shoved off and forgotten about forever.

what happened to authenticity? what happened to bringing a piece of your soul to the art you create?

again i’m not trying to tell people how to enjoy fandom. do what you want.

it just personally saddens me how hard it is to find work with that human spark in it. the spark of curiosity, of intrigue, of going deeper than the bare surface level. i love art that makes me think. why does nobody THINK while creating anymore? sometimes i just feel so alone in this, surrounded by plastic when i want to read and write and engage with work that was written with a beating heart so palpable that it can be heard between every word.

i wish fanfics and headcanons and concepts that were created with thought were more popular than they are, instead of the same bland thing being shoved down my throat every second of the day. i constantly get hated on in this fandom for thinking differently than everyone else, but why is individuality an enemy? im starting to think that i get hated on in this fandom for THINKING, period.
