If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

here's my query letter for a novel i started writing last fall (but have since given up on :\)

Jane is an urban planner, trying to make New York City’s streets safer one bylaw at a time — until her husband is killed by a car while cycling to work. No longer content to fix the streets through the legal system, Jane vows to avenge her husband and make the streets safer by any means necessary — legal or otherwise. Told from multiple perspectives, including Jane, an anonymous urban historian, and a dangerous Brooklyn intersection, [NOVEL TITLE] asks what it would take to shatter the car’s deathgrip on American cities and how far one group of activists is willing to go to take the streets back for the people. The book is literary speculative fiction, set in the 2020s and following our characters through a few decades of arduous work reclaiming city streets, grounded by the real history of American streets

I think this is one of my favorite lines from the Wraith route because of (imo) how much the meaning changes depending on if you got there via Spectre or Nightmare. For Spectre, it honestly strikes me as a genuine question. Why are you doing this to her? If you're on the Spectre route, you presumably already know the Narrator can't really be trusted, since you had to reject his reward to get here. What are you hoping to gain from continuing to hurt her? For Nightmare, it honestly just makes me sad. As the Shifting Mound describes her, "She desires only companionship, but the only thing she knows is how to hurt." This line feels like a plea from someone who genuinely doesn't understand why you keep rejecting her. She wants to be with you, but she just can't understand how to do that in a way which doesn't hurt you.

oh okay heres one:

"sleepaway camp"= you go there for at least a few days, a week, sometimes several weeks, and sleep there, as opposed to a """camp""" where you go for the day and your parents or whoever picks you up afterward (those arent really camps, but like. idk when i went to "space camp" it was a weeklong but not sleepaway). in the U.S. at least, the typical image of a sleepaway camp involves staying in cabins, dunno how common it is/what it looks like in other countries.

for the first few i just mean like. not necessarily a stealth church camp, just like. idk, a camp where theres also an Assumption Of Christianity and just general vibes without being actually church camp. So, there might not be daily services and jesusy dedicatwd activities, but maybe theres still a prayer said over meals and shit. Which i assume might exist...
