“you’ve been bitten”

the words fall like a death sentence, and damn, Regulus has to voice them out. when James didn’t even want to face it, this curse has to take it from him. 

he turns to Lily, because he hopes, because maybe she’ll laugh this bright laugh of hers and assume the joke. but they are not fifteen anymore, and Lily’s face is dead somber. she takes a step to be a little closer to him, to explain something maybe, but James backs up in an instinct. oh, that was harsh. she’s hurt, and he can do nothing to save her. 

Lily’s been bitten and she will die. 

“you have to take him”

because he got nowhere to go, because apparently he's the cure or some bullshit, because all the fucking order is dead here and Lily’s been bitten and she will die.

“i’m asking you.”

oh, 

that seems like a last will. James frowns, shakes his head and refuses to admit the truth. he can’t imagine a life without her. she was there from the beginning, she was there when he nearly crumbled, she was always there since this fucking plague happened. and now, he’ll have to continue alone; because Lily’s been bitten and she will die.

a hand on his arm gets him out of the spiral that was so close to swallow him. everything happened so fast; the clickers, the run, the state house and the dead. all infected, just waiting for a call. and now Lily. 

“we’ll find something, we gotta continue,” James hears, somewhere behind him. a voice he’ll trade a thousand times to keep Lily’s. 

“there nothing for me anymore.”

and as soon as she voices it out, a roar, not as far as they could think. the panic rises in James throat, because the infected were called, and they’re a fucking loads of them. 

instinctively, James swallows his terror— of them, of losing her, of failing him, and he grabs Regulus by the wrist. he’s brutal, he grips him hard, because once Regulus realizes what he’s doing, he lashes out. 

“no! i can save her! i can—”

he can’t, because James is forcing him outside, and because as soon as they step outside by the back door, the main entrance opens and they hear them. 

thousand of footsteps.

roars, fucking terrifying. 

and then,

an explosion.

Lily's been bitten, and now she's dead.

what do we think : tlou au; james is joel, marlene is ellie. james is in charge of marlene because mary can not run the order, escape the infected and the ministry, and protect the kid. she asks him this favor but the transaction fails. james now wants to find sirius and remus, secluded somewhere up north, because black apparently has a brother in the order. someone who might help them, because marlene's supposed to be the cure. but, that girl, she reminds him of harry. his son, his baby boy, shot because he got bit. once second, he was there, smiling and laughing. the other, an infected biting his delicate arm. so, you can understand when james makes a promise never to care about marlene. and how he desperately failed.
