Hello! Transfem person here. I haven't started HRT yet, but want to procure a 1730s menswear suit (actually decided based on your video). I would prefer not to wait for it if possible, since I don't know when HRT is going to be possible. I am, however, a little concerned about my bust size changing and affecting the fit of the waistcoat. Is that decade usually pretty forgiving in it's tailoring? I am also considering having the upper back tie like some later waistcoats to accommodate if necessary (even if it's not entirely historical), but I figured I would ask you.

Hello! Ooh yay! Not enough people do early 18th century, so I'm delighted to hear that! (Link to the 1730's suit mentioned.)

I think the fit would be affected, yeah. The sides of the waistcoat are easy enough to let out (and we have extant examples of waistcoats with an extra strip of fabric added into the side seam) but the curve of the front is pretty important to how it sits on you. But then, it is fashionable in that era to leave quite a lot of the top portion unbuttoned, so maaaybe you could get away with it not fitting as well, depending on what changed and how much?

Regarding the adjustability of waistcoats, some of the earlier ones actually do have lacing in the back! This red one is an especially nice example, and it's separate all the way to the top.

(c. 1740's, V&A) (Though you also do see ones with the back hacked up and a bunch of ties that were likely added by Victorians for their fancy dress parties.)

The breeches also have adjustable waistbands, of course, so I think the hardest part to alter would be the coat. The back vent is edge to edge, so there's no overlap to sneak a bit more width out of, and letting out the side seams would require re-doing those massive pleats, which were the part I found the most difficult when making my coat. But fortunately those coats were worn open a lot of the time, so even if they're not quite right when buttoned, they should still look ok unbuttoned.

It's very difficult to predict how the fit will be affected, since HRT is different for everyone and things keep changing years down the line. (One comment on this post talks about suddenly getting more breast and hip growth after 7, 12, and 14 years.)

I only have experience from the transmasc side of things, and alas, I very much did outgrow all my old waistcoats and coats. My 1730's suit needs alterations, because the waistcoat is a bit too small, and the coat seams could use a bit of letting out too. (I made those the year after top surgery, but my ribcage kept expanding and my posture improving for quite a while.)

I've been putting it off because alterations are boring :/ My pre-top surgery waistcoats are all way too small across the chest even though material was removed, because my posture was kinda bad and I didn't even notice it, and I expect that the opposite could also lead to the same sort of better posture from more confidence & comfort.

But bodies keep changing forever anyways, even without transitioning. Plenty of cis people can't fit into the things they sewed when they were younger, so we may as well make things to fit us now. Perhaps you could make the suit now, but use a not-too-expensive fabric, and then maybe alter it later, or make a newer and better one with the experience you gained from the first one!

Also I know you specifically said menswear suit, but I want to add the fun fact that women's riding habits in this era looked extremely similar to men's suits!

As far as I can tell, the main differences are that the riding habits have a petticoat instead of breeches, and are made to fit over stays.

So similar, in fact, that this portrait of a young lady in a riding habit was misidentified as a young man!

Most of the petticoat is out of frame, but you can still see that it's not beeches, and the stays shape is pretty obvious. Very silly of Sotheby's not to notice!

I have no idea if you're interested in wearing a riding habit, and I'm not sure how difficult it would be to alter the somewhat looser men's coat to fit over stays, but thought I ought to mention it.

Why do we gatekeep comics?

Seriously. I've been in this fandom (well, the batman rogues side of it) for years, since '15 actually. It's crazy how often I run across a post that basically says "fandom has bad reading comprehension and valid interpretations of these characters come from me"

Do ya'll realize how snobby that sounds?

Let me tell ya, comics are NOT an easy medium to get into. I'm going to be using Jonathan Crane as my example, because that's my blog's whole thing. Speaking him alone, there's at least eight origins, dozens of verses, multiple versions and stories -- and yes, some do contradict each other. And that's a medium popularity rogue, what if we're talking Jason Todd or Joker? Even Bruce Wayne's set in stone origin can vary from comic to comic.

While I understand comics need to be read to understand a character to it's fullest, and in no way am I arguing that you SHOULDN'T read comics. What I am saying is, there's more than just the fandom popular ones, and comics are not a cheap medium to get into. (and yes, you can 'yo ho ho' comics if you catch my drift, but finding the obscure issues can someone be impossible even taking that route) Comics costs add up quickly if you want to collect, ranging from two to six dollars an issue and god forbid you wanna collect something out of print that never had a big release to begin with. eBay prices can get crazy, and not everyone lives near a comic book store.

I get asks all the time asking me where to start with Jonathan Crane and reading, but really....does it matter? Pick an origin, pick a handful of stories that may interest you and with maaaybe six to ten comics you'll have a solid understanding of the character. This works for any character btw, you don't have nor should you have to read everything or whatever the fandom considers "the most correct"

ALSO! There's more than just comics, maybe you watched the animated series as a kid and that's all you know! That doesn't mean your thoughts are lesser than someone whose read hundreds of comics!! You're allowed to stick with the meidum you like best, like the Arkhamverse video games or Teen Titans cartoon.

Why do we even push the idea that you gotta research comics for years before you can have an "acceptable opinion" on these characters? Comics are a special medium, they can tell multiple stories from multiple artists and writers. No one comic is above the rest, no matter what the fandom tries to tell you

Just. Have fun with it. Make your headcanons. Read the story everyone hates. Take the horrible canon (Jervis Tetch being a predator, for example) and throw it out the window!!

Do what makes YOU happy. I promise, you're never going to be alone in a fandom like the comics fandom. You're allowed to do what you want, I mean--half the time the professionals wing it and bullshit it, so why can't you???

Hi! So, which characters do you think have the worst post nut clarity? (Yes I was bored, can you tell?(?) I need the new chapter to release alreadyyy...).

I think Yuri would be around the top, even more if he was so into the moment that he called Mc (or his partner, yey multishipping) "mamma" or something. Dude would be pulling the surprise lobotomy on the table (or bed).

Ren also gives me the vibes of having it bad. Like, dude would be having a full on monologue of "How did he behave in such an ooc way, this didn't happen, yada yada". So like, good luck dealing with him(?).

Romeo... I think it would depend (Yet I wanna add him cuz I love him <3 so let me delulu myself). I like headcanning (is that a word? I forgot how headcannon was used as a verb lmao) him as a bottom, so I like to think that he would be embarassed as fuck of having acted submissive. He is the proud owner of the casino, his name terrifies any student of the Sinostra house, and several from another houses, he did not whimper like a common horny off-brand idiot, and no, he didn't cry. Ah, you say he looked beautiful? Well, maaaybe he did then.

Jin probably wouldn't get into a sexual situation he wasn't particularly into in the first place. He kinda gets post nut clarity in that once he's done there's a good chance he doesn't wanna be around the person anymore and tells them to leave lmao. Of course if it's a beloved partner or someone he trusts he's. . .a little clingier.

Tohma similarly wouldn't be in a situation where he regrets his sexual choices I think.

Kaito's post nut experience is entirely euphoric. Mostly because the guy probably wouldn't end up in a one night stand or something where he'd be questioning his life choices. Any clarity is in the moment, directly before, or hours afterwards, and it's usually questioning his relationship status or sexuality.

Luca also would be very sure about his sexual interactions and what they are and their meaning. No post nut clarity, but he's very attentive after the fact. You'll get aftercare after the most vanilla sex with him. (Which, realistically, isn't a bad thing!)

Alan might have some in the form of realizing how dangerous that interaction could have been. He'd probably check on his partner just to be sure nothing went wrong that he didn't realize. He'd feel bad about being reckless and possibly careless until he's sure his partner's alright.

Leo is a lot like Jin in this way in that he wouldn't be in a situation where he slept with someone he wasn't sure about in the first place, even as a fling. If he wasn't into it he'd stop everything midfuck. Also like Jin the closest he gets to post nut clarity is probably "okay, we're done, get out" with someone he's not so close to lmao. Everyone else gets post-fuck bathtime. May or may not result in more sex.

Sho is a bit of a player(you think Leo's the slut but it's not! It's Sho!) but he's pretty good about figuring out who he is and isn't gonna regret a night with. Sometimes post nut clarity with Leo because he gets a little caught up in Leo--but it's not a bad post nut clarity, it's a "everything about that was great it was just stupid/extreme and i wouldn't've done it with most anyone else" post nut clariry

Haru's post nut clarity is 100% oh my god i have so much work to do i should not have done that jdbdudidn. That or "this is what life is about and i work way too hard". Like, he goes back to overworking anyway because he needs to make sure none of the animals die and it's his responsibility and all but he bounces between 'that was amazing and also took up so much valuable work time' and 'wtf am i doing i could be doing this way more if i wasn't working myself so hard'

Towa has no concept of post nut clarity. Towa gets post nut infatuation in which he is instantly in love with whoever just made him come, if he wasn't already. May or may not be temporary.

Ren. . .I think Ren would have a high chance kf being in shock and wondering how the hell he got here and let himself be in this situation. Even if he's in a relationship. Like, sex is a lot of work to start with. Being convinced into having sex or getting seduced. . .like, the likelihood that he'd bring it up himself is kinda slim. It just goes against everything relating himself he's used to--he's not angry or anything, he's just. . .confused. He knows himself, he's a total tsundere, he hates being around people, how did he somehow get laid anyway???? He plays the events back in his head and it makes sense but he's still confused. No, wait, don't leave he's just. . .pulling himself together. All sex, even in a relationship, will end like this for a while until he comes to terms with it and starts to sleep it off because a lot of effort and feelings happened just then okay he needs a nap. He is the worst about it for a while, I agree. He's just not used to putting in that kind of work and there being an actual payout, or feeling so many good things at once.

Taiga wouldn't have post nut clarity. He knows what he did. However if he hadn't eaten enough beforehand he might have post-nut brainfog and wander off in a daze to find food, barely putting his pants back on in the process. Otherwise? If anyone's getting post nut clarity it's whoever he fucked. Because why did they make this decision? They're probably in a lot of pain and Taiga's just laughing and cheerful and telling them how good it was.

Romeo. . .Romeo's careful about his sexual choices, but he can definitely have some bad post nut clarity if he's not with someone he adores or is really comfortable with. He's sticky and sweaty and smells and it's awful. Was it worth the pleasure? Sure a shower will fix it but ugh his skin. . . . He might feel some embarrassment at having sex with someone 'below' him if felt like he wasn't in control of the situation and wasn't highly attached to them, and he might chew them out if he wasn't totally satisfied or wasn't being treated appropriately(read: worshipped and praised and thanked and apologies for any discomfort or mess) but for the most part I think the worst of it that they would see would be him complaining about being sticky or dirty before he dismisses them from the room. He's a lot calmer with someone he likes I think. And if he adores you well. He'll endure being dirty if it means being close for a little longer.

Ritsu simply would not be having casual sex I think. Casual sex would absolutely be met with post nut clarity and embarrassment. He's got little to no experience and would think it's inappropriate and unprofessional for him to be fucking around and would procure an NDA for them to sign. This never happened.

Subaru would have a ton of post nut clarity simply because along with the sex he got a whole serving of the other person's feelings and memories and he is utterly exhausted. There's so much to go through and unpack mentally and. . .he's drained from his stigma activating and the orgasm. He would have post nut clarity after his post sex nap. And by 'nap' i mean he's asleep for like two hours. Like you cannot fuck him without him conking out right after, i am sorry.

Haku is too casual about sex for post nut clarity. He wanted it if only in the moment, it felt good, what else is there to think about?

Zenji has post nut inspiration. He very well might immediately move away from his partner to start penning up a song or story or something right after he comes. For best results, they should come first.

Ed laughs in the face of post nut clarity. He's 400 years old, please. What is there for him to think about besides whether or not he wants to feed off of whoever he fucked and go another two or three hours.

Rui. . .assuming you can't have sex directly and you're idk masturbating together or using toys he might have a post nut feeling of 'oh i'm kind of touch staved and lonely actually and i don't know if this helped or hurt that feeling'. Not to mention how much time was just spent that could have been spent elsewhere! If he was in control it's not nearly as bad but if he wasn't. . .oh he's freaking out. I feel like Romeo has more room for recovery before any sort of dread or confusion or disgust kicks in--you can divert his attention with compliments and he'll calm down pretty fast. You still might get a gun/knife to the neck and a threat to not speak of what just happened if he was bottoming/subbing though. So anyway maybe Mewni would be like Heaven and monsters like demons. So we can still have 'racism' subplot xD (which would be fun since technically Lucifer would be monster lover, but yaknow, less outlawed and destructive xD Maybe the ally kingdoms are rulled mostly by his siblings and his kingdom is relatively new and less bigoted and his family pressures him to comply and he is like Fuck You and marries monster/demon xD)

Charlie would be sent to study on Earth(and away from politics) with her dragon horses Razzle and Dazzle, since she is VERY enthusiastic to learn about other realms. Vaggie would be Marco xD(maaaybe Carmilla is the adopted mom and a demon in disguise like her daughters and Zestial, that's why she is sent to them.) Keekee would be like a familiar pet, a magic wand but in keyblade form xD

Still don't know if mewberty?(dont remember much from the show xD") form should be fairy like or angel like(or maybe a mix. Lucifer's colors change from white to yellow and Charlie's from blue to red), but Charlie would collect aaall the teens xD (and Lucifer too but give extra chase to Alastor cause they were already kinda 'dating' xD)

And I have that one other scene in my head with newly wed Lucifer dealing with a Threat and like Moon who made a deal with Eclipsa wanted to make a deal with corrupted Eve(why not make Lilith her pair for extra sadness cause what if the four of them were friends and Eve got 'posessed' by Roo and Lucifer and his allies(Sins) had to 'restrain' her while Lilith travels in search for a solution, while Adam treats all demons as Evil for this). But Alastor beat him to it, not wanting Lucifer binding himself to her(btw his magic is red, and green perma adds after this). And then cool shot with both of them combining Alastor's knowledge and Lucifer's magic to defeat the Threat.

And that's it, I have no idea about the other enemies and further politics and family dramas and stuff xD Just these cool concepts flying in my head xD

It's been a long day. Make that a long week. Actually, a long month. Maaaybe even a long year. It's been back-to-back monsters that seem to keep popping up every week. And Stiles? He's tired.

The pack needs a vacation. Desperately. But Lydia spent all last weekend ignoring the fae issue and created a schedule. Bless her. And Stiles has the first shift off from monster hunting. Along with Derek. They're the only single people in the pack these days, so it makes sense they'd pair off together. It gives all the couples and partners time to make plans and afford to keep them.

But Stiles is restless.

Being off-duty is hard. He has no idea what the pack is dealing with this week. He's been completely shunned from any sort of knowledge, because everyone knows he'd try to help.

He climbs out his window, dragging a thin blanket with him, and sets it up on the roof of the porch. He doesn't know exactly what he's doing but maybe gazing at some stars will help.

There used to be a time in his life when he'd be able to do this and just wonder at all the possibilities in the world. But now, now he knows anything's possible and it feels a little heavy.

There's a snap of a branch and then suddenly, he's not alone.

"What are you doing?" Derek asks in lieu of a greeting.

"Star gazing. Have you ever heard of it?" Stiles asks, shifting over on his blanket. They don't have to discuss it. It's understood that Derek will join him.

"Hm," is all Derek says before he settles down on the blanket with Stiles. "Why are you doing it?"

"I used to do this all the time as a kid," Stiles whispers, as if he's suddenly afraid to spook the universe by talking about something normal. "It was my favourite thing to do with my mom."

"Oh." Derek shifts. "Should I--?"

"No, no," Stiles murmurs. He reaches out and pulls Derek back down. "Stay."

So, Derek does.

"What are you doing here? It's like one in the morning," Stiles says, turning his head to get a better view of Derek.

"Star gazing," Derek answers. He turns his head on the blanket to look at Stiles. "I don't know. Couldn't sleep. Figured you'd be up too."

"This whole shift thing is great in theory," Stiles mumbles.

"Yeah. I thought I'd be grateful for the break, but it's turning out to be a lot harder to slow down." Derek shifts and then adds, "This is nice though."

"Yeah." Stiles can't seem to tear his eyes away from Derek's. "Yeah, it is."

They don't talk for a while, but it's not as awkward as Stiles thought it would be with Derek. Maybe they've been at this whole monster-hunting thing for so long, the silence is a welcomed presence. He's not sure.

But it becomes a habit after that. On nights they can't sleep. Even when they're on-duty protecting Beacon Hills from the monster of the week.

Stiles starts to look forward to it, even. Humming when he suspects Derek will be coming over.

"What's got you in a good mood?" Lydia asks one day when he's doing just that.

"Huh?" Stiles looks up from the book where he's researching vampires. "Nothing."

"No, no," she says, shaking her finger at him. "I know you, Stilinski. Something... or perhaps, someone has you humming. Are you dating?"

He laughs, because the idea is so ridiculous. "Me? Dating? No. Despite being surrounded by relationships, I am not seeing anyone. Single as a pringle, Lyds. That's me."

"Mhm," she says. "If you say so."

"I do," he replies before closing the book. "Nothing in that one..."

"Right," she says. "Back to work."

And the next time he hums, he finds Isaac looking at him curiously. Stiles can't help it; they're on a stake-out together and it's boring. Nothing's happening.

"What?" Stiles asks after a moment. "Do I have something on my face?"

"Yeah. Happiness." Isaac pauses before adding, "It's a good look, man. I'm glad you're happy."

"I'm--" but Stiles can't bring himself to say the words.

Is he happy?

Hardly.

But he's going home tonight, setting out a blanket, and he even had time to swing by to pick up a pre-made charcuterie board. And he'll spend some time with Derek, talking about the most mundane things.

And that's exactly what they do when Derek climbs up the tree and swings onto the roof.

"Oh!" he says with a pleased smile. "You brought food. I'm sorry, I didn't--"

"No, no, it's fine," Stiles is quick to reassure. "We just followed the witches to the grocery store, so I thought I'd just... it's dumb, isn't it?"

"Nope. I'm starving." Derek settles down beside him, a soft smile on his face. "Tonight, Boyd, Erica, and I had to follow the warlock to the sewers."

"You're old home," Stiles jokes.

"Shut up." But there's nothing but amusement in Derek's expression. He picks up some cheese and asks, "How'd it go with you and Isaac?"

"Fine," Stiles says, shrugging. "The witch just did like, regular people thing. I'm starting to think she's not much of a threat."

"Mm, I wouldn't be too sure. Witches are powerful, and a huge threat to werewolves. They're always after our fur."

"What?!" Stiles bursts out laughing and only manages to calm himself when Derek shushes him. Stiles grins. "Don't worry, Dad's not home tonight. But really? Your fur?"

"Yeah. It has magical properties in some spells," Derek explains. "What? Is that so ridiculous?"

"A little," Stiles says, chuckling. "But enough about work. I want you to finish that story about your parents."

"Oh, yeah!" Derek settles in and launches into the longest, winding story Stiles has ever heard him tell. He laughs at all the right moments, gasps where appropriate, and shakes his head when Derek gets really into it. It's almost out of character for him, but Stiles has really seen him open up. He understands Derek more. And there's nothing in this world that Derek loves more than talking about his parents.

"Scott, Allison, and Isaac kind of remind me of my parents," Derek continues. "It's such a messy beginning to a beautiful relationship."

Stiles feels his face soften. "You are such a soft wolf."

"Hardly," Derek mutters. "Remember, you're human. I could eat you for breakfast and--"

"But you wouldn't," Stiles murmurs.

It seems to catch Derek off-guard, but he agrees even quieter. "But I wouldn't."

"I like this side of you, Hale." Stiles shifts on the blanket and picks up a piece of cheese. He chucks it at Derek, who catches it in his mouth using his werewolf reflexes. "Why don't we get to see this side of you all the time?"

Derek considers this for a long moment. Stiles is almost certain he's forgotten the question by the time he answers. "I think, because we haven't really had time to slow down. We're constantly in war, fighting with someone or something. And..."

"And?" Stiles prompts.

"There's something about star gazing with you," Derek admits. "That's all."

"That's all?" Stiles asks, reaching over to gently push Derek's shoulder. "I think there's more to it than that, but I won't hold it against you."

"You really wanna know?"

"I really, really do." Stiles flutters his eyelashes dramatically in the moonlight. Derek laughs. It's the prettiest sound he's ever heard. Stiles wonders if he could record it so he could listen to it all the time.

Derek shifts and pushes the charcuterie board out of the way. He settles down and stares up at the sky. Stiles follows suit, wondering if maybe it's easier to talk when they're not looking directly at each other.

"You remind me of my mom."

They're not the words Stiles expects, and they take his breath away. He reaches out and slips his fingers in between Derek's.

"She would've loved you. Cora and Laura are both more like my dad. They're strong, no nonsense, bold... but my mom..." Derek whispers. "She had ADHD like you. Was scatterbrained. Would do something - anything - just for the story. Fearless and stubborn."

Stiles stays silent and simply squeezes Derek's hand.

This is the best compliment he's ever received.

"She would go up against the scariest creature and tell them how it was. She didn't care." Derek pauses before adding, "She would've thought you were the bravest - and maybe stupidest - human out there. But she would've admired how much you love the pack, because no one loved as hard as her. But I think... I think you might."

Stiles stares up at the stars.

How does he put it into words how that makes him feel?

He turns his head to face Derek, who's already looking at him. Quietly, he says, "Thank you."

Derek's smiling softly, with tears building in the corner of his eyes. "Yeah. You're welcome."

"My mom would've loved you too," Stiles says after a while.

"You think?"

"Mhm. No one is as fiercely protective as she was - in the best way - but I think you come close." Stiles is surprised when Derek squeezes his hand. It feels so natural to be holding hands with him, Stiles almost forgot they were doing it. "She also would have loved your grumpiness. She would've told me that you put on a show, but you have the biggest heart of anyone she knows."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."

Stiles takes a breath and then lets it go. Talking about his mom meeting Derek is hard, but not so hard that it hurts. In fact, it brings him a little peace.

"Derek?"

"Mm?"

"I think our moms are best friends in another life," Stiles whispers.

"Me too." Derek squeezes his hand a little tighter. "Me too."

Stiles doesn't tell anyone about the conversation with Derek. Or how he's desperately, quickly, and passionately falling in love with him. He doesn't want to break the magic he's under, because he feels lovesick. Love drunk.

He doesn't know what Derek thinks. Maybe it's all platonic, but the next time they're star gazing together, Derek reaches for Stiles' hand. And the time after that, they lay a little closer.

And if Derek sometimes kisses Stiles' on the forehead before he says good night, it's no one's business but theirs.

That is until Lydia brings the pack together. She's standing in front of everyone and announces, "Alright, we're going to try a new rotation. Stiles, instead of breaking you off with Derek, we're going to put you with Erica and Boyd. And Derek, you'll get your break with Allison and I. This way--"

"No."

Lydia blinks. She looks at Stiles blankly, and he scrambles to catch up with the fact that he just said no. Out loud.

"Uh, I mean..."

"Why not? I thought this would work better, because it means there are less rotations and then we're on a four week schedule vs a five week schedule. And--"

"Lydia," Stiles says, not daring to look across the room at Derek. "I'm asking you to leave it as is."

"Oh." Lydia frowns. "Does, uh, does anyone else have any objections?"

The pack starts talking at once, but Stiles just silently glances at Derek while everyone's distracted. Derek's staring at him, his head tilted slightly, and his expression hopeful. Stiles doesn't know what to make of it.

"Alright, alright," Lydia says, commanding the room again. "We'll keep it as is for now, but we'll look at it during next month's meeting to see if it's still working."

The pack might not all agree, and Stiles knows it might be selfish to keep him and Derek on the same week off, but he doesn't care.

He's already planning his speech for tonight. He doesn't know entirely what he's going to say, but he has an idea. And that's enough.

When Derek hops onto the roof later that night, Stiles has the blanket already laid out. He sits instead of lying down, and he waits until Derek has silently settled in.

"So. That was an interesting pack meeting," Derek murmurs.

"Yeah." Stiles curses silently. He already sounds like a bumbling idiot. And instead of the speech he planned to say, he simply blurts, "I'm falling in love with you."

Derek doesn't dare show any change of expression on his face, but Stiles knows him better than that. There's a twitch in Derek's fingers, and that's all Stiles needs to see to know.

It's not a one-sided thing.

In fact, Stiles is starting to wonder just when did Derek fall for him?

Derek takes a moment. A long one. But he's very certain when he says, "I'm falling in love with you too."

A smile grows on Stiles' face and then he tackles Derek, pinning him down on the blanket. He hovers for a moment and quietly asks, "May I kiss you?"

"Yes," Derek breathes, and then they're kissing and it's everything and more that Stiles has dreamed of.

"Alright," Lydia says at the next pack meeting. "I don't think we need to have Stiles and Derek on a week off together. I think - "

"We're together," Stiles announces.

The whole pack turns to look at him. Stiles snuggles up against Derek, slipping his fingers in between Derek's.

"So, please, do not change the duty schedule because we now have couple privilege."

Derek snorts, burying his face into Stiles' neck.

Everyone starts talking at once, but Stiles doesn't care. He turns to Derek and whispers, "Wanna get out of here?"

"The meeting just started," Derek whispers back.

"So?"

"Case made," Derek says, and then they're slipping out while everyone keeps discussing who knew what when.

Unnonexistence's Notecard Method for Learning Mathematics

Hello! This is the study method I developed after flunking out of first-year university algebra and having to retake it! It may or may not be particularly innovative and it may or may not help you, but I did (eventually) graduate with a Bachelor's degree in math despite having unmedicated ADHD, so, y'know, there's that. I owe it mostly to the notecards.

DISCLAIMER that any example cards are my actual real notes & I am not fact-checking them. They lean towards intuitive rather than strictly correct & were only ever intended to be for personal reference. I did pass these courses, and I think most of the cards are pretty good, but like... use at your own risk.

You Will Need:

A pack of index cards. I like the 3" x 5" ones that are lined on the front and blank on the back.

Some pens you like. I use fine-tip markers in about 4 colours, plus a white gel pen for fixing mistakes. Pencil can get smudgy over time, so it's not ideal.

Any course materials you have (notes, textbook, etc.)

Optionally, a nice box for your index cards. (You can also just use a rubber band or something. Whatever).

General Approach

We're making reference cards. One concept per card. You probably have an intuitive sense of how big A Concept is for you - it should be an amount of information that can comfortably fit in your brain at one time. If it doesn't fit on one or maaaybe two cards, it's probably too big.

Here's a topic I broke up into two cards - Chain Rule and Extension of Chain Rule. One IS an extension of the other, but the information is a lot easier to remember in two chunks. (3 pictures, here, because the first card is double-sided).

You are NOT trying to cram as much information as you can onto each card. You are trying to create an easy reference for yourself, which means making the cards as clear and legible as you can. When it's 5 minutes before your calculus exam and you're having a panic attack because you forgot how the chain rule works, you want to be able to flip through, find that Chain Rule card, and be able to absorb the information on there.

For math courses, A Concept is often a definition, a theorem, a formula, or a problem-solving approach. As much as possible, you want to write it down in a way that makes sense to you. Add any helpful tips or intuitive explanations or things you keep forgetting. If your cards are blank on the back, that's a great place to draw diagrams.

(On the back of this card you can see where I wrote "Rho" in pencil and never bothered to replace it with the symbol, lol. My prof had bad handwriting & I wasn't sure how it was supposed to look.)

Proofs are often too long to fit on a card, but if you have a theorem where the proof is important, it's a good idea to write out a little summary of how the proof works/how to do it.

Ideally, you do the work of Understanding The Concept when you're making the card, and then you can just refer back to it in future. I forget definitions a lot, and this saved me so much time that I would have spent reading one confusing page of the textbook over and over or trying to find stuff in my notes.

I try to keep my formatting mostly consistent. Clear title. Card numbers in the top right corner so I know if anything's missing. Definitions in black ink with important words underlined in colour. I tend to use coloured ink for things like examples and personal commentary. I also use it to create a visual distinction when I do need to cram something on there (not ideal, but sometimes necessary).

The Method

Sit down with your class notes or your textbook. Your goal is to get all the important concepts you're supposed to have learned in this course so far onto notecards. (Probably not all in one go.)

The ideal time to do this is right after each lecture (most math lectures are around 2-5 cards worth of material), but that's easier said than done. I always had a hard time keeping up & all my card decks, as a result, get spottier towards the end of the term. It's fine. Do your best.

I mostly went through the course material in order. I kept checklists of which lectures I had already made cards for, and which ones still needed doing.

If you don't really get something, but you know you need a card for it, at least put the definition down. You can make a better version or add more notes later. I sometimes make placeholder cards with just a title so I'll remember to come back to something.

If you write down a definition, and you're like "this refers to another thing, and idk what it is but it's come up a few times now," you probably need to make a notecard for that other thing.

How I Use The Cards

When you're doing assignments, it's really useful to have your stack of cards there to refer to. If something comes up that you don't remember the definition for, you can look it up. If you're doing proofs, having all the theorems from the course handy is a great way of getting ideas for where to start. If you're doing calculations, it's helpful to have the techniques you need written out step by step.

I spent a lot of my exam prep time making cards and going through the ones I'd made. It gave me a sense of what I already knew and what I needed to spend more time on. Having things broken up into small chunks also made it a lot easier for my brain to hang onto them.

After making cards like this for a few terms, I also found them really helpful for reviewing concepts from previous courses. Sometimes you just need to refresh your memory on something from the prereq so you're not totally lost. I've graduated now & I still refer back to my cards sometimes.

Well, that's my (somewhat rambly) explanation of my main study method! I hope it's helpful for at least a few people out there. I wish you the best of luck learning math & whatever else you might be studying. You've got this!!

17. What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?

Lyn: the smile of a winner!! 💃 actually, I think what they usually notice (or look at, anyways) is the purple hair in their streaks, to see if it's still good or if it's fading and they need to touch it up. as for what other people notice first, I figure it's probably the heterochromatic green & grey eyes.

Tysinno: probably his eyes, and specifically if he still has any eyeshadow from the night before still on, since he'll fall asleep with it frequently enough lol. with other people, I imagine they'll probably notice the glowing eyes or the white streak of hair before anything else.

25. What subject / topic do they know a lot about that��s completely useless to the direct plot?

Lyn: Shakespeare! one of their dads is an indie film director who's done more than a few movies based on said plays, so Lyn is more than well-versed in the subject. their name even comes from one of his plays: Lyn is short for Lychorida, a character from Pericles.

Tysinno: he knows how to help safely deliver a baby! which I doubt will come up in SHOH proper, but I imagine it's something he did in his backstory during his years on the road. he's also got an interest in astronomy, and could name a lot of stars and their corresponding myths (if any).

39. Would they rather be invited to an event to feel included or be excluded from an event if they were not genuinely wanted there?

Lyn: invited and included, even if they weren't wanted. Lyn isn't lacking in self-love and self-confidence, and would initially have a hard time believing they weren't wanted... before resolving to change minds with their charm lol.

Tysinno: excluded if he wasn't wanted. Tysinno isn't big on most social events as it is, unless it's either a small group of close friends or some really big thing where he could drink in the corner by himself lol. he'd rather stay home and read a book.

52. Do they act on their immediate emotions, or do they wait for the facts before acting?

it's definitely a mix of both for the both of them, depending on the situation they're in? with that said:

Lyn: maaaybe acts on their immediate emotions a bit more? they're proud and stubborn, and if they think they're right about something or if X should happen right now, they'll probably act on that feeling. they're pretty big on following their gut instincts about stuff.

Tysinno: waits for the facts a bit more. he doesn't like the idea that something bad could happen as a result of rushing in before thinking things through, and wants to take the time to make sure he's making the right choice.

55. What’s something they’re expected to enjoy based on their hobbies / profession that they actually dislike / hate?

Lyn: they're not an investigative journalist yet. that said, the whole building connections and making contacts part of it all. while they don't completely hate it by any means, they do dislike how much time it can take to find the right people to be able to talk to.

Tysinno: (note that this one is stolen from my sister, as I have the artistic skills of a peanut and she is very good at it) shading his artwork. adding more details and making things more lively should be fun, right? wrong! or at least, he finds it a bit stressful to try and add those extra details to make things look the way he pictures it.

Where everything started... (this time, with shadows!)

Hello everyone! I think it's time to tell you what's going on behind the scenes… first of all, don't worry! The game IT'S NOT on hiatus! I'm sorry for my absence from socal medias, but I kept working. Between August, September and October I did a lot of things (for example, a little vacation to see my family, and helping my friend @wisteriasakana with her beautiful Three Yellow Quartzes. I did the sound design!).

But I indeed changed my plans. Sooo, without further ado: I decided to divide the game (The ash black cat and the happy ogre) in chapters. It's simply too long and I'm working on it alone. So, sadly, I won't be able to publish it for this Halloween. The main reason behind this is that I wasn't fully satisfied with it; I wanted to add a LOT of things (revamp all the old art, make a graphical overhaul, adding a custom menu, making a better and solid gameplay on the first floor) but I didn't have the time to work on "extra" things. Only to barely finish it. So, I decided to love myself and the game more, and take my time.

… that said, I made another game (Every thought flies) in the meanwhile. With the same characters, some months prior the main story. It will act as a prologue for the other game, a sort of Chapter 0. Actually I finished it, and now it's in the betatesting/translation phase! This should be ready for the first half of November, so please, stay tuned for the release! So, Chapter 0 is coming, but what about the first? Maaaybe January. If everything works out. Thank you for the patience. (Just to be clear, I'm not starting from zero. I'm just reworking, expanding and adding things…) In my next post I'll talk a little about Every thought flies, I think we need an official presentation… To the next time!

site has been updated! i first started working on it on december 28th of 2022, so consider this a slightly late anniversary update

i completely redid the code for the layout cause i first made it when i was first figuring css out, so it was basically held together by duct tape and prayers lol. not too much has changed visually (aside from the font and some of the spacing) but it should be a lot cleaner and function better

there's some new stuff on the resources page, also did some housekeeping and removed a few dead links

the stamp marquee on the homepage has been retired and replaced with a little scrollbox of the stamps that were there. you may remember from the last update that i was trying to add button controls, but for some reason the marquee would only loop once and then never again. i couldn't figure out how to fix that, so that's why i replaced it. maaaybe i might bring the marquee back when i figure out how to make one that has controls and will loop properly, but don't count on it too much (the more i think about it, the more i realize that the scrollbox is the better option)

art month page and blog section are still in the plans but it might still be some time longer before they see the light of day since spring semester's about to start for me very soon and i'm gonna be busy with stuff again

Desserts are always the best part! There’s too many to name when it comes to food, but I’ll try.” The least she can do is try.

“My favorite breakfast foods are fresh cinnamon rolls, muffins, and waffles or french toast topped with berries and whipped cream. Those are the best! I like cinnamon toast, too. Did you ever have that, Envy? It's awesome! It's cheap and easy too. That's a plus!" Harmony is now beaming with excitement shining in her eyes.

" I always enjoy a good burger for lunch. A burger with ketchup and dill pickles. It doesn’t have to be fancy. Oh, and fries! I love crispy fries! You know, potato soup loaded with shredded cheese, chopped bacon, and chives sounds really good, too! As for dinner...I like steak or fried pork chops with loaded potatoes, mashed or baked, maaaybe a salad on the side. It's important to have some veggies!" Now, Harmony reaches the most daunting part of his question.

“Desserts…Golly, there are too many to name!" Suddenly, the ones she adores the most pop into her mind, one after another. She lists them to Envy with mounting excitement as she thinks about the delectable treats.

"I love cookies, especially chocolate chip! Ice cream covered in rainbow sprinkles is something I can never, ever get enough of. I also like cake, just about any kind of cake but strawberry shortcake always rocks! Same with anything that’s cookies and cream! And I love tiramisu, brownies, macarons, banana pudding…” She lists the sweets while counting them with her fingers. “Let’s see, now…I’m trying to remember what else. Oh! I like crème brulee and apple pie! Chocolate-covered cherries are another fave, and s’mores!...And, now I'm thinking about it, I really liked the mousse cake you got me the other day. I liked all the desserts you bought, really. It’s impossible to pick just one favorite dessert, you know? Oh, my!" Harmony realizes what she's been doing.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to ramble like that. I like food, a lot!" She adds with another laugh.

Another set of tough questions. They certainly give her some thought before giving the Little Killer her answer.

“Hmm… Let’s see…” Harmony shifts closer to Envy’s side. “I like the sound of thunder, especially at night and the storms aren’t severe. I like the scent of rain, and I love sweet and floral scents. Nothing overpowering. Oh, and I like fall-related scents like apples and cinnamon or toasted marshmallows. Birds singing is always nice, and I also like the sound of rushing water. You know, like that creek nearby, or a waterfall.” Harmony leans against Envy’s side as she continues.

“And I…Well, I don’t mean to be so bold or strange, but I like what I smell, hear, and feel about you.” Her skin glows gently from her blush. “I like how soft your hair is. It’s like silk.” Black nailed fingers gently stroke the Little Killer’s raven locks. “I like feeling your muscles rippling beneath your skin…And the sound of your breathing, no matter if it's soft or husky.” Her hand lowers, caressing the broad shoulder, and drifts over his collarbone. Then, her warm touch brushed over his muscular chest. Harmony leans against Envy’s side and a lone finger lightly traces circles over where his heart should be.

Strange…Whenever Harmony got the chance, she never felt or heard the rhythm of a heartbeat. It’s something she can’t explain.

“I also like your scent. You have a light scent like sweet almonds, or perhaps poppies. Yeah, it’s like poppies and there are faint notes of orange. My guess is cologne but correct me if I’m wrong. But…” She sighs gently as her small smile fades. “I don’t like intense heat or rough textures. I don’t like the sound of sirens, either. As for scents, I don’t like unpleasant odors. Blood and decay, just to name a couple.” Harmony shudders as she thinks about it. “And though tobacco is one of the sacred medicinal plants, I…I don’t really like cigarette smoke. That’s why I told you to smoke outside my house. Or any kind of smoke for that matter. It-“ Harmony pauses and her gaze lowers from Envy’s face.

“It brings back things I don’t want to think about.”

i had no idea mormóns let regular dudes, just good at coming to church, become biśhops 💀 no training at all??? and then they are tasked with having people come to them and confess stuff they did that's not good according to mórmon doctrine? the only training they get is how to count money??? the tithe they get from active mormons having to give 10% of their income. and that adds up and is lot of money even when the congregation(?) isn't super big. there are creeps among biśhops who get off young people telling them they masturbate... but also there are decent people who are not trained to deal with men confessing csa...... and mórmons are told to first contact biśhop and then maaaybe cpś.....

reminds me of how scientológy doesn't believe kids are a thing and they are full on exploiting and trafficking kids to work for them. including becoming auditors and having grown men confess they abuse kids. and they are NOT allowed to contact authorities at all. so you get 14 year old work in something like confessiom booth hearing things they should not be hearing
