Flavors Of A Ship: Luigi Addition
ONCE AGAIN, I COME BACK TO POST ABOUT BOWUIGI (and other ships, as a treat)!
While I’m not as well versed in the world of Fandoms as ColeyDoesThings, I have been here long enough to have an inkling on how ships can be categorized.
This brings me to ships in the Super Mario fandom- specifically with Luigi!
I’m not sure about you, but the Green Bean seems to be a jack-of-all-trades in shipability thanks to the 7+ characters that I’ve seen him shipped with- and that is through my home feed on here!
And looking at AO3? I am given a fairly good idea of the current ship popularities that I intend to figure out as I stroll through the site.
For instance, Bowser, Daisy, and Peasley are currently the top three ships according to the existing tags- and in that exact order.
In a way, it also makes the most sense that the first two are prolific given the similar potential/established chemistry they have with Luigi! And Peasley? Who has elicited very gushy responses from the Green Bean in the few interactions they had in a single game?
I have little to wonder, really, to see these three as the Addictively Sweet Trio(TM).
On a more interesting note, King Boo runs fourth place in the fic count, and adds a spicy take of who is canonically Luigi’s mortal enemy.
Princess Peach is fifth place, and someone who I don’t usually picture with Luigi if only because I picture a more complex chemistry with Mario and her.
After her is the cavalcade of rare-pairs and cr*ck-pais that include Dimentio, Waluigi, Morty, and Donkey Kong. Depending on personal taste, I can see these ships easily dipping into the bitter, the salty, and the sour takes of what kind of relationship can come about with them just as much as the sweeter possibilities.
Regardless of who is your favorite ship, it stands to show that Luigi himself seems to be very compatible with many Types of characters, and I honestly have no idea how to process that. Like- jeeze- half of them are royalty and I bet someone will add more in due time…
Until I puzzle it out, this post will definitely be on the back burner for a continuation via reblog.
Until then, so ya all later!!

Yo, where are all the Bowsario shippers on here because I genuinely want to know if you (or anyone else) would be open to shipping Luigi with Donkey Kong?

Now I've seen a lot of people talk about bowuigi and mariokong, and mareach, and more. But I got another ship to add. Sure they interact like never, but just look at how dk looks at luigi, and just imagine their dynamic it'd be so dumb and sweet.....anyone got any names for this ship?

Bridal carry with Donkuigi
The Jungle Kingdom was built for two things: primates, and ridiculously dangerous go-karts.
Given the nature of the roads, Luigi was unsure about stepping foot into any vehicle despite Mario's invitation. "If you hold on tight enough, it's not that bad." There was hesitancy in his voice, and no argument when Luigi turned him down, insisting he preferred to travel to the palace on foot. "Go ahead. The king will be looking for you and Peach more than he'll be looking for me." Luigi shrugged and buried his hands in his pockets, "Besides, I want to take in the sights a little! Y'know?"
Luigi didn't regret his decision when the kart first sped off, nearly throwing Mario right out of the sidecar at the first hairpin turn. He did, however, come to rethink his position when he proceeded to try and travel kartless.
For all the trouble his knees gave him, Luigi considered himself quite athletic, but all his skill served him little in a cityscape built for apes who leapt and swung circles around him, a few struggling to hold back giggles as Luigi clumsily shuffled along narrow piers, looping vines, and mossy tree branches.
The final stretch toward the cliffside palace was the worst. The only entrances that weren't built for karts were only accessible through dangling green vines, hanging over a sheer drop into roaring waterfalls.
Luigi, having underestimated his own exhaustion, got stuck halfway to the top, too tired to move up and too anxious to slide down, when he heard a familiar voice call out to him: "Enjoying the view?"
"Donkey Kong!" Luigi started. He almost lost his grip as he turned to the source of the voice, sliding a few inches down the vine and nearly giving himself a heart attack. The great gorilla prince was swinging lazily back and forth on a neighboring vine by one arm, looking as at-ease as someone strolling down a sidewalk toward their mailbox. "Stick with DK," the royal said with a smirk, "It's shorter." "DK," Luigi corrected himself. He tightened his whole body around the vine, his palms began to sweat though his gloves, and tried to sound less desperate than he felt. "Hey! Hi. Um... look, I hate to bother you, but could you–"
"You need a push?" Donkey Kong's smug grin turned mischievous as he swung closer, making a motion like he was going to shove Luigi like a kid on a tire swing. "No!" Luigi squeaked. He braced himself and squeezed his eyes shut. "No no, please!" "Oh, I'm just kidding!" Amidst the sound of Donkey Kong's laughter, Luigi felt himself scooped up and cradled in a burly arm nearly as large as he was. The Plumber's hands automatically released the vine when he found himself carried swiftly upward, pressed firmly into the gorillas large chest.
In a fog of relief combined with a keen sense of how unusual his situation was, Luigi couldn't help but notice a few things: One, he felt unusually safe given the circumstances. DK's hold was firm, but not too tight, almost giving him the sense of laying in a warm hammock. Second, his fur was surprisingly soft, akin to a bearskin rug, only slightly denser and softer.
Third... DK smelled surprisingly good, like a recently-used woodshop and citrus fruit peels. Luigi dared not mention any of his observations aloud, and Donkey Kong thought it was merely nerves that made him so hesitant to dismount from his arms when they were safe within the palace.
"Loosen your grip, L, you're okay."
"...L?" Luigi asked, carefully setting his feet down on the carved stone floor.
"Yeah! DK..." Donkey Kong pointed to the letters on his own tie, then reached over and flicked the L on Luigi's cap hard enough to twist it around so it sat backward's on the plumber's head. "...and L."
Luigi fixed his hat, looking more confused than annoyed as the gorilla raced ahead of him on all fours, and waved for him to follow. "C'mon!" DK called over his shoulder. "I'll show you around!"

Headcanon: Mario and Luigi like rough house but it's the kind were you think they're genuinely fighting. I just know that given the chance, Mario and Luigi just roughhouse super hard, they're pulling WWE move on each other This thought came in the context on the handfull of soulmate fic I've found that are etched into my brain and this image of Mario and Luigi mockfighting and pulling the most batshit insane move while Bowser and DK stand on sideline in fear.

Baking a Cake With The 64 Fighters(+ Unlockables)
Smash 64 Fighter x Reader
Chrs: Mario, Yoshi, DK, Link, Samus, Fox, Kirby, Luigi and Captain Falcon
Reader is GN!
Mario:
Tumblr media
Baking a cake with Mario is an absolute joy ride. His enthusiasm is infectious as he hums Italian tunes and expertly guides you through the recipe. He’s a natural in the kitchen, treating it like an art form(From Princess Peach's Influence), but also leaving room for fun. He’s constantly taste-testing the batter and frosting with a wink, saying it’s "important to get it just-a right!" You both work seamlessly, though sometimes he gets a bit distracted when he starts tossing dough in the air like he’s flipping a pizza. In the end, the cake is flawless, and Mario proudly presents it as if you’ve both created a masterpiece together.
Yoshi:
Tumblr media
Yoshi is incredibly eager to help, though a little clumsy in the kitchen. He loves tasting everything as you go along, sometimes sticking his tongue out too far and accidentally eating part of the ingredients. Despite this, his positive energy keeps you both laughing the entire time. You’ll have to keep an eye on him, though—leave the sugar alone for too long, and Yoshi will have eaten half of it. But once the cake is baked, Yoshi is so excited that he does a little happy dance, making the entire experience heartwarming and full of smiles.
Donkey Kong(DK):
Tumblr media
Donkey Kong is surprisingly gentle in the kitchen despite his large frame, rowdyness and strength. He’s determined to help, though you’ll notice he can’t resist tossing bananas into the mix, even if it’s not a banana cake. You work together to mix the ingredients, with DK carefully following your instructions while occasionally sneaking bites of bananas and batter. His favorite part is the decorating—he insists on using extra bananas on top as garnish. In the end, the cake might not be traditional, but it’s definitely delicious and full of DK’s quirky charm.
Link:
Tumblr media
Baking with Link is a quiet but calming experience. He’s not too much of a talker, but he follows your instructions with sharp precision, taking everything seriously. He might be a bit unsure about how to bake at first, but once he gets the hang of it, he’s fully focused. You share peaceful moments while mixing the batter and frosting, occasionally exchanging soft smiles. He takes care in every step, as if baking the cake is a mission. When it’s time to decorate, you both enjoy adding personal touches, making the final product as charming as it is delicious.
Samus:
Tumblr media
Baking with Samus is efficient and organized(plus you get to see her out of her suit for a while...or at least her beautiful blonde hair as she doesn't have her helmet on). She’s precise with every measurement and action, turning the cake-baking process into a well-structured mission. While she’s not particularly emotional about the process, she surprises you with little moments of fun, like using her arm cannon to quickly whisk the batter or heat the oven. The end result is a cake that’s not only delicious but also expertly crafted. Samus might not be super expressive, but the small smile she gives when she sees the finished cake tells you she enjoyed the experience more than she lets on.
Fox:
Tumblr media
Fox is all about teamwork in the kitchen. He takes charge but lets you take the lead where you want. You’ll notice him frequently checking the time and trying to make sure everything is on schedule, like a mission briefing. He’s fast but careful, and his competitive nature shows when he tries to perfect every step. Fox is also surprisingly playful, teasing you about your frosting skills or sneaking a bit of the cake mix while grinning. The cake turns out perfect, and he’s happy to share it with you, giving you a playful nudge, “We make a great team, huh?”
Kirby:
Tumblr media
Baking with Kirby is pure chaos in the best way possible. He’s more interested in eating than baking, so you’ll have to keep him from gobbling up the ingredients before they even make it into the bowl. Kirby’s enthusiasm is unmatched, though, and he constantly tries to help—even if it’s just him licking the spoon or cleaning up the leftover frosting. Expect him to inhale bits of the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven, but when he finally settles down to share what’s left, "Poyo!" he’s all smiles and excitement, ready to enjoy your creation together.
Luigi:
Tumblr media
Luigi is a little nervous in the kitchen, but he’s incredibly helpful and sweet. He often second-guesses himself, asking, “Is this okay?” or “Are you sure that’s enough?” but he’s so genuine that you can’t help but reassure him. You both share lots of laughter, especially when things go a little off track, like when Luigi accidentally splatters batter everywhere. By the end, the cake might be a little messy, but it’s full of love and care. Luigi is proud of the final product, especially since he got to bake it with you, and he happily shares a piece, blushing a little as he says it turned out great.
Captain Falcon:
Tumblr media
Baking with Captain Falcon is intense and high-energy. He approaches the task like a race, moving quickly and shouting things like “Falcon Mix!” as he stirs the batter at lightning speed(whist making a bit of a mess). His enthusiasm is contagious, and you both end up laughing as he tries to make everything as epic as possible, even when it’s something simple like cracking an egg. The cake is finished in record time, and though it may not be the most neatly made, it’s definitely delicious. Falcon pats you on the back, grinning wide, “We totally smashed it!”
