Just for fun: if you had to redesign any Mario character (appearance or role or anything) which one would you choose?

Visually speaking? Princess Daisy for sure.

While I love a lot of elements of her design (her round face and enormous brown hair in particular), it's kinda sad that her dress has been reduced to a recolor of Princess Peach's outfit with a few floral alterations here and there.

I would prefer if they gave her her own look that better fit her tomboyish personality or the exotic nature of her homeland.

Another thing I like about the Brothership is that they didn't make Princess Peach was captured and I'm glad they gave her another role instead of this:

I do notice that Nintendo is leaning into giving Princess Peach more agency and control over her life instead of just making her the damsel in distress all the time.

While I often argue that a girl character can still be interesting while being vulnerable and in need of help, Princess Peach has gotten kidnapped in almost every single Mario game over the past 50 years, so it's nice to see Nintendo experimenting with other approaches to her character.

The moment I saw her I knew she would become part of my favorites AND I WAS RIGHT. I couldn't choose Adaphne over her either when you had to pick who's idea to go with, that felt like betrayal and we've been through so much!!! I WANT HER TO HELP ME DAMMIT!!

The Death of a Recluse

I had to draw my absolute favourite part of the Reclusa boss fight. It was…it just blew me away. I’m still recovering from the fact that the bros just….DEMOLISHED, PULVERIZED, and RUINED him mercilessly.

I'd take this article with an enormous grain of salt because it rehashes the same flimsy "Miyamoto said this movie expands the world of Super Mario when he announced it so that means it's not a sequel" talking point.

However, the concept of Yoshi talking like a normal Yoshi while having the voice of Vin Diesel as his internal monologue is very funny.

I've been thinking about an AU where Reclusa instead of dying in the end is left without his powers, he is rescued, watched or tied up and forced to live in harmony, help and make bonds with others. It's fun to see Reclusa, a being who spends his time alone, forced to create bonds.

In other words, therapy.

It sounds crazy and even dangerous to keep someone like him alive, but I always laugh when the villain is forced to take a "redemption arc" only to realize that they have formed true bonds of connection.

I was inspired by The Book of Bill

As much as I like it when a bad guy stays irredeemable, I'd also love an excuse to dissect Reclusa's personality and figure out what makes him tick. He fascinates me.

On a related note... your idea of taking away Reclusa's powers and forcing him to live in harmony reminds me of a crappy conceptual doodle I made right after playing Brothership.

Everybody who asks "why would Mario's family disapprove of him being a plumber?" regarding The Super Mario Bros. Movie either has zero media literacy or wants to poke fun at a movie they haven't watched.
