It was more than a decade ago, for sure. As far as I can tell, this has been a thing as long as home video boxed sets have been a thing, just not with every show and not always as noticeably.

The earliest personal example I can think of is my favorite late 90s/early 2000s animated show, Daria. Most of the cool 90s rock and alternative music in the background and scene transitions was replaced with generic random filler music for the VHS release in 1998 and for the 2010 complete series DVD release. The usage of the theme song throughout the show was also massively cut down.

And the Supernatural issue has been a thing on streaming--not just Netflix, even if you buy or rent the episodes on another streaming platform like Google Play this is the case--since way before 2020. I remember hearing "don't watch it on Netflix if you want the original experience" as far back as 2014. Pretty much the only way to get the show with the original music now is to pirate it or buy the DVDs.

you know how you can go and watch a movie you watched a bunch as a kid and the version of a song in it is different? like they actually changed it since you were a kid? that isn't normal. we didn't do that until like, the last ten years. it's fucked up.

If you want a Star Wars discussion, do you have thoughts on Anakin changing Ahsoka's lightsaber colors in TCW s7 and what we were intended to understand from that? Because it seems like such a violation, but that's clearly not the intended message behind that scene and it seems so weird to change the color for a few episodes only for her to throw them away anyway and get new ones the next time we see her.

I actually do have thoughts about this! And I think we actually are meant to find it a little "ehhhhh" because Filoni says that was the intention: "Him tinkering with her lightsabers while she is gone shows that he was always thinking of her. And the lightsabers are then a representation of her in the story, and his thoughtfulness regarding her.  His changing the color can also be seen as him exerting control, or being too protective, which is very Anakin.  He means well, but often takes things too far when trying to express how he feels.  Changing the sabers, modifying them, improving them shows his care, but also his ego--something that Ahsoka is familiar with. So the simple adjustment of the lightsaber color serves as many aspects of the relationship between the two characters.” And this is an instance where I actually really agree with Felony, I think it's both things at once, that it's both a sweet gesture and Anakin's desire to control her, to forcibly hold her close to him, because that's what Anakin desperately wants of his loved ones, that's his whole big issue in the Star Wars story, that he can't let go of anyone or anything, not when it really comes down to it. That's why, as Lucas says over and over, he becomes Darth Vader, because he can't let go of people, even when it's time. Changing her lightsabers to match his color, it's a way for him to express how much he still cares about her, how much he's thought about her, how much he wants to do for her, it's a way of expressing a connection between them, because a lightsaber is so central to their lives, it's the housing for their kyber crystal, their semi-sentient rock that bonds with their soul. This is Anakin's way of expressing that she matters to his very soul. But it's also Anakin thinking he can just go in and change that connection someone else has in their soul, he can just change something that was a defining part of her--kyber crystals matter to a Jedi, they're each unique, that's the crystal they faced a trial to get, one that was about their own heart and their own issues they needed to overcome. It's Anakin trying so desperately to hold onto her, his ego thinking that his way is the best way and that he can't let others exist as they are when they're distant from him, that leads him to change something that's not his business to change. It's a sweet gesture. It's a warning sign. It's something in between. It's a representation of the complicated relationship that has both good and bad in it. That's why I'm okay with them retconning it, because it's such a good metaphor for both the joy and the hurt in Anakin and Ahsoka's dynamic.

You have the same amount of energy Luca Balsa has, and many more given how you laid out on the floor rolling around playing with Ann's cat (you do not care if it is an Outer God that took the simple form of a cat to oversee whatever an Outer God oversees). The cat is playing with a ball of yarn you got from Annie in exchange for helping her with a toy project. The cat actually is playing with you rather than you playing with it, Alva a few times glances over to see being the one is playing with the yarn more than the cat.

Your logic for not fearing the cat is ‘I don’t worship it so I don’t have to follow its rules’. Neither does Alva yet here is a chosen one of that creature. His eyes linger on the way your shirt by now has ridden up exposing your stomach and dangerously close to the rest of your chest before you sit up and start petting the cat. 

It permits it the petting, the dotting upon, you have no idea you are worshipping it by doing that and Alva could not tell you otherwise given the cat is purring. When it has enough, it places its paw on your hand pushing it away then jumping on a chair and curling up in a ball to rest.

“I want five more babies, Alva.” Without context and him not paying attention you say those words.

“Excuse me?” Stopped his hands with his current task to make sure he heard you properly.

“Five more babies,” Pointing at the sleeping cat, “We can have different types too.” You bet Ann would agree but you might have to watch out for Ithaqua because you have seen him fearlessly chase the black cat. Weirdo.

The inventor needs a moment to recover, “I am sure the Apostle would not appreciate sharing your attention.” Resuming the final touches of the device he making.

You go to sit on the couch in the room then lay on it as you stare up at the ceiling before your eyes drift to other objects in the room before falling on the ass of the Hermit. Small, you can grab it and feel a bit of meat, a bubble butt. Your eyes follow the way his back is bent over slightly as he works over the workbench tinkering away.

“Alva,” You call out to him, “Have I ever told you how handsome you are?” “You do and I never grow tired of it.” He replies, “You are quite handsome too, (Name).” Sometimes sparks to life in his hand for a second then shuts off. “Yeah but,” You think for a moment then grin, “You’re a tall drink of water, baby.” Yeah, this is a good one! “And I’m thirsty.” Snickering. Both a funny and a compliment, genius.

Alva has learned to grow accustomed to your time of humor and language. Given you are from a different modern time, you are far different from the people of his time in every sense. He raises an eyebrow then shakes his head, “Given you also know how ridiculous that sounds,” He stops his task as he can feel his neck becoming strained and the statement you made is a hint. “(Name).” Turning around, “Come here a moment.” His index finger beckons you over where he is leaning against his workbench. 

It is cute how quickly you get up to go over to him and without skipping a beat you hug him, one who enjoys physical touching. A tactile person. He places his hand on your head petting your hair as you rest your chin on his chest with your eyes closed and a small content smile on your face, “I love you.” The words flow out easily from your mouth as you say them a dozen times with ease, you follow those words with action as you are happy to kiss his hand that traces your lips, his palm, then your eyes open halfway as you once again say, “I love you, Alva.”

“Do you need me?” A low sensual tone as you whine as his other hand starts at the lower part of your back, fingers tracing up your spine and the low-grade spark up your back makes you moan as he uses his power to stimulate your nerves. Strange as it sounds you found it gets you going a lot faster as he is directly stimulating your nerves and skin.

“My answer is always,” Though at times you feel bad given you have a much higher sex drive than the inventor. He is much lower, rarely does the mood strike him, but tries to be accommodating to your needs when he can keep with them.

Though you understand he is in the mood, it is understandable, you make it very clear to him that you never take more than what he can give. You are one to talk freely about your needs and listen to others about theirs, you had sat him down to ask what he needs from you and vice-versa.

“Are you sure? I have no problem using your shirt.” Asking to make sure he would not mind doing it right now, you can always wait for when he is ready. He got the hint you want to be intimate by your silly pickup line, something you do to hint but easy for him to know he can take his time. Plus, you like letting him know how handsome he is daily.

When you handle your own desires alone, you need something of his to keep on that edge, his shirt helps a lot.

God, you feel like you got it down bad for him— Because you are.

So bad that you ask him, sometimes, if he is comfortable with recording a ‘visual aid’.

A request and one he needed an explanation of. One you provided when he was sexually ready and you were the one teasing him. So you recorded yourself, well, let’s just say the man had a reminder of how different you both are from a technology standpoint too.

The recording on your phone plays back a video of you touching yourself as you call out his name. One of his spare shirts drapes over your body as you are a humping pillow. You are no pornstar but you are proud of your camera work!

You learned that day teasing Alva was returned tenfold and you were unable to return to your room until the afternoon of the following day.

Kissing your forehead, “I want to.”

The grandfather clock in the room strikes midnight and the soft tune of the clock plays.

You stand on the tip of your toes as he kisses you, slowly and methodically until the meow of the forgotten guest steals your attention.

“Pspsps.” Alva is looking annoyed at that damn cat as you slip away to kneel on the floor to pet its sleepy form, “Pretty kitty.”

“There is another kitty in need of proper attention if it returns to my side.”

You turn your head to see Alva Lorenz walking to his bed and sitting there patting his lap.

The hint in those words is not lost to you at all nor the Outer God cat as growls before standing up, jumping in the air, and disappearing.

“Aw.” You pout, “Do think it will come back later?”

“Let’s hope not,” He welcomes you into his arms as you straddle his lap, “Your attention is going to be elsewhere for a while.” His index finger traced the path of your jawline, his lips brushing against yours but not quite, no he let that tingle of electricity make it feel like he kissed you but you were not letting that slide as you grabbed him by the collar of his dress shirt and lean forward kissing him and pushing him down.

New Valentines Tournament!

Greetings! This is our mini-tournament for Valentines Day <3. Like the Halloween tournament it will be a 16 contestant competition with 24 hour rounds.

Everyone deserves a chance for their True Love to be celebrated! We are looking for nominations of romantic couples* who are not a major Disney couple/a major focus of the plot. This tournament needs 16 submissions to run. We accept canon, assumed, or even non-canon couples. Submitting pictures and a justification will improve their chances of getting into the tournament. Again this is open to animated and live action as well as theatrical releases and small screen favorites with everything in between.

Examples of those not acceptable: Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse, Troy & Gabriella, Luca & Alberto, Ariel & Eric, or anything like Mother Gothel and Rapunzel

Patch observations from my test save

I've been pretty lucky so far with the last few updates, so I guess I was due for one to be a PITA. I'm playing on the Mac client, and I both had mods disabled and the mods folder fully removed from the Sims 4 folder. I don't use CC, so I can't speak to anything related to it.

The first big bug I noticed is that sims are being mean AF to each other for no reason. They can have maxed out friendship (and romance if applicable) with no Evil/Mean traits, needs all met, no Mean phase (for children/teens) and still just yell at and insult each other without provocation.

Related to above, I had Darrel and Johnny (who had full friendship and romance) go straight from flirting and kissing to an actual brawl with no warning or provocation.

I had one teen sim that had a bugged out simology menu. It wouldn't pop up at first whenever I would click on it, but then whenever it finally came up the display of it was completely FUBAR - the traits panel was replaced by a copy of the parenthood character values panel where the values gauges kept going up and down in real time.

Once I got into that sim's simology menu, the other sims in the household had weird glitches showing on theirs, and then none of the buttons and menus other than the simology button would work afterwards (including hitting Escape to bring up the menu to save and exit the game).

I had two teens go to live high school, but only one showed the event menu (it reminded me a lot of the old Seasons bug where only certain sims in the household could actually see a holiday).

You can see that the little event thing that's normally in the upper left isn't there for Lucas.

I'll continue tinkering with the test save throughout the week, but I really hope we get a fix for this stuff (especially the overly mean interactions).

Disney 100 ✨🏰🤍

Wishing you all a happy new year and to Disney, a belated 100th anniversary! 🎉

To celebrate Disney’s century milestone, I created an illustration based on 100 of Disney’s most known and loved characters from their respective movies/ series. I’ve included all the ones I’ve known and feel are generally popular but I’m sorry if your personal favourites aren’t here.

This has been in the works for almost four months now but due to many delays I couldn’t finish it on time. So here it finally is!

Out of all these range characters, the hardest to draw was the Cars. I’m not used to drawing cars so I’m not generally good at them (yet). Some of these may look simple and easy to draw but trust me, they’re not 😂.

With drawing the characters and the background, I like to be accurate with the respective style it’s drawn/ animated in and the colours too. But also I wanted to also simplify the 3D ones and add a little depth using shadow to the 2D ones. For example some of these films would have a desaturated grainy effect to it and I wanted to keep that. But finally after months of working on it, it’s completed and I’m happy with it! ✨.

My Pota Headcanons in a Nutshell:

Caesar, Rocket, Luca, Maurice, Koba, Cornelia, Tinker, and all the other apes Caesar freed in Rise (to their children/all apes born in the Muir Woods): “You will not suffer like we have suffered.”

Then Dawn and War happens!

Blue Eyes, Ash, Lake, Red, Winter, Spear, Cornelius, Ray, Fox, Stripe and all the other apes born in the Muir Woods (all having lost friends and family to war, betrayed by friends and also became traitors, witnessed war, torture and murder, or have been killed and tortured themselves-possibly experienced hunger, cold weather, and other trauma before Dawn): “…We still suffered, just not like that.”

| When you first met |

• When you arrived at the Baker estate, you had no clue what kinda hell you were getting yourself into.

• Thank god you are a tech wiz!

• No but seriously you were so lucky you could handle the weird puzzle locks all over the house.

• Some of which you actually managed to break and get through without the actual key.

• Lucas had seen you at the attempted dinner, but like Jack and Marguerite he'd lost you when that nosy reporter came poking around.

• Jack and Marguerite were determined to find you, but Lucas wasn't really interested.

• I mean yeah you're a total hottie, but he had better things to do than chase you around the old house.

• It had been hours since you vanished, no one had seen you anywhere, only traces of where you had been.

• I.e. Beyond broken locked doors, scattered electronics meticulously taken apart etc etc.

• And while going to tinker with one of his bigger projects, he heard a rhythmic tapping, like someone drumming their fingers in boredom.

• He thought he'd found you, as he followed the sound into a storage room that lead nowhere. Boy was he excited to have caught you before his parents could mess up your pretty face.

• "There you are!" His voice boomed in the room as he slammed open the door, his excited smile morphing into a confused frown.

• You weren't in the room, but instead in the middle of the floor lay a little machine with fingers and a motor.

• "Better luck next time." You called out before closing the door and locking it, effectively trapping Lucas.

• Who had spun on his heel at the sound of your voice, beyond astonished by what just happened.

• He's impressed you tricked him, but also pissed.

• Now he's made up his mind, your his pray, and no else is gonna break you.

• You had eluded the family for TWO whole days! Much longer than anyone else ever.

• And in that time you had disassembled and remade so many of Lucas's traps, it was impressive and infuriating for everyone.

• By now Lucas was infatuated with catching you, and breaking you. And making you a member of the family.

• All he needed was the perfect trap, patience, and a bit of luck.

• "There you are!" Lucas muttered excitedly when he finally caught sight of you on one of his monitors.

• As luck would have it, you were walking right into his lates and cleverest trap, and it would seem like you didn't even notice it!

• And in an instant you were hanging upside down, your pack with your gear falling to the ground as you hit your head.

• "Finally!" He jumped from his chair and rushed to the room you were hanging in.

• Your ears were ringing and your head felt like it was stuck in a pot underwater. Then the spinning started, your vision was fuzzy but every once in a while you could see a man's face.

• "You are one tough bitch to find." Lucas mused as he pushed your shoulder, giggling at the site of you spinning in the air.

• "What-" You groaned in pain. "What happened?" Your vision started coming back into focus, and the spinning finally stopped.

• "I finally caught you Princess." Lucas mused as he held your shoulders, keeping to still while he knelt down to be face to face with you.

• "And now you're mine." He grinned before knocking you out cold. Now it's time to meet the rest of the family.

Silence. Late evening it usually is quiet in the dormitory area of the manor. The occasional sound of Luca tinkering though but nothing else. Dark and silent, you creep towards the door before you go still in front of the door. He told you if you ever could not sleep, you could join him in his room.

Usually, you stay there listening to him work. The ambiance of an inventor at work is rather soothing and amusing when shouts “Ow!” when he messes up a wire or two. Luca is tenacious and ambitious, though he does not remember much and often forgets to the point he has to journal everything important, he is like the spark of electricity fighting to find a connection.

Currently, though, he is not working when you come to visit. After an intense match with the new hunter Ivy, he had just finished bathing and greeted you with only his pajama pants on, hair wet, and for the first time, you see the scars of what electricity can do to the body.

The Decoder lets you in though it is inappropriate given his both lack of clothing and how late it is, something you both never cared about like some others do.

He sits on his bed and resumes drying his hair with a damp towel, idle chatter as you sit on the poorly maintained couch. It is not uncomfortable but definitely has seen better days. You lay on it while talking, him keeping the conversation going as you expect of a former aristocrat.

Though he was from a family of wealth, and clearly educated, you never felt how you do around Frederick or Edgar… Uncomfortable. The sort of peacock-ness air about them that often makes you not acknowledge even when waiting for a match. In the matches, of course, you help but post you are immediately getting away from them. Luca does not give you that feeling and maybe it is because he has “fallen from grace” sort of speak, or maybe he is just likable.

“You stare a lot these days.” Teasing, he likes to flirt when in the mood.

“Can't help it,” As your eyes shift to his face, “Does It hurt?”

He looks at his chest, his eyes staring hard, “It gets irritated but not so much hurting.” Then looking up, then pointing at the table near the couch, “Those usually help.” Bandages with a bottle next to them.

“Can I help?”

“If you want, you don't have to.” The shyness is unlike him yet you figure it is because no one has seen him like this.

It was unexpectedly intimate, you did anticipate being so close to him using the ointment and applying the bandages would create a new situation. You have been close to both dancing, patching each other during matches, hell, sharing the same bed when you both could not sleep. It was like you are seeing the vulnerable Luca Balsa, not the inventor but a man who is fragile and lost trying to achieve something beyond himself.

When you kiss him it is funny the shock of low-grade electricity that zaps you both, the laughter is sweet and silly.

Luca does not want that to end the moment he has thought of for many days and is trying to build the nerve to get here. He ushers you lay on the bed, his thin frame on top of you. The partly wet brown hair is like curtains blocking your peripheral vision, you can only see Luca and his smiling face. Kissing your lips, face, neck, and a few hickeys on the way down to your chest; the second to remove your shirt before he is on you again.

By the time he is between your legs, your body feels a buzz from his uncontrollably electrical minor shocks and his skillful hands and mouth. Your hands in his messy hair gripping it with one hand as your other hand grips the pillow behind your head.
