Welcome to Total! Drama! Tumblr!!!!!!
Now that we've wrapped up our analysis on every vote in the canon Total Drama series, it's time to mix it up a little.
This will be something of a crossbreed between Total Drama, The Ridonculous Race, and the Tumblr tournaments that have been so popular recently. Here are the rules:
All 100 contestants from Total Drama and the Ridonculous Race will compete.
Because of this, there will be no submission phase. Instead, there will be a "team building" phase. Click on the form below to submit two to ten characters who you think should be on the same team. You can also submit a team name if you like. Once we've received enough submissions, I will put together the teams based on the information received.
The characters will initially be split into 10 teams with 10 players on each team.
I will call each player by their in game name. That means, for example, Mildred Stacey Andrews O'Halloran will be called Blaineley, and Valentina Escobar will be called MacArthur. While this rule applies to me, you can call the characters any name you want.
We will probably put each pair of Ridonculous Race partners on the same team, as well as Katie and Sadie, Amy and Samey, and Wayne and Raj.
A typical episode will be split into 3 polls, each of which will last a day:
On day 1, a challenge poll will pit all the teams against each other. Vote for the team you want to WIN the challenge.
On day 2, a campfire poll will pit the members of the LOSING team against each other. Vote for the player you want to ELIMINATE.
And on day 3, a final poll will pit the two players with the MOST votes against each other. Vote for the player you want to receive the FINAL MARSHMALLOW.
The player who loses that poll will be eliminated and have their total stats revealed, both for the canon series and for our game. The stats will include how many votes they received vs how many votes they mathematically could have received, how many elimination ceremonies they went to, how many times they won invincibility, and more.
Teams that won the challenge may or may not receive an extra vote or two in the next challenge.
(Obviously, since the polls last 24 hours each, and I need time in between polls to tally the results, and my schedule will not always align with the time the poll expires, each episode will last slightly longer than 3 days.)
Feel free to submit roleplay, propaganda for or against a certain player or team, or virtually anything else you wish.
Language: if it's allowed on the Canadian version of Total Drama, it's allowed here. (For those unfamiliar, they do allow words like crap, frickin, testicles, and suck, but they bleep out other swear words. For example, Lindsay's rant against Heather is entirely bleeped out in the Canadian version, whereas in the American version it is replaced with a load of PG insults.)
I may introduce game elements that happened or were mentioned in the real show, including but not limited to non-elimination / double elimination rounds, tiebreaker polls, returning players, immunity idols, team swaps, merging teams or eliminating an entire team if a certain team becomes too small, etc. Depends on how the game goes.
While I reserve the right to run the tournament however I want, here are the rules on tied polls:
If a challenge poll is tied for last, the tied teams will either battle it out in a tiebreaker poll, or have an elimination ceremony for each, or have a combined elimination ceremony, depending how I'm feeling that day and how many players are left on each team.
If a campfire poll is tied for first or second, the tied campers will all compete for the final marshmallows.
If a final marshmallow poll is tied, it is at my discretion whether to make it a double elimination, non-elimination, or tiebreaker.
With all that out of the way, the team building form is linked below:

We had a lot of fun with the week of Pirates polls we did and we hope you all did too! Previously we had done the "original or remake" series between tournaments but until more of the remakes are cranked out:
We would be open to suggestions of both themes and questions, and the details might be a little different with more format consideration.

Update!
We have 31 unique quotes at the moment. We would really love just one more, but honestly we were hoping for a bracket of 64. As a reminder, anything from a Disney movie, show, production, park--- even Walt himself is acceptable (to help jog your brains). If you are unsure, ask!
This submissions will stay open until the Macy's Parade begins! (unless we are flooded and overwhelmed)
A plea for a boost: @tournament-announcer
Fun Fact: Mushu is leading the submissions
Quotable Disney
A New Tournament
Quotes you have in your back pocket to use whenever. Quotes you save for a rainy day or special occasion. Quotes you wish you could tattoo on your best friend except they don't like needles.
You can submit any quote which can be described as a "Disney Quote" and you are allowed to submit as many as you would like, just do a separate form for each entry. We simply ask that you do not submit a giant monologue or full conversation.
If you have questions about what is "Disney" and what is not, feel free to ask! There is a place to expand on why you like a quote which can also be used to explain why should qualify for this tournament.
We do not have a time frame for this tournament. It will be decided based on the rate of submission we receive.
No quote is automatically accepted, so if there is one you are partial to please submit!
Quote origins in banner image: The Little Mermaid, Jungle Cruise, Star Wars Episode VII, Disney parks, The Lion King, Peter Pan, Walt Disney, The Princess Diaries 2, Aladdin, Toy Story, Mary Poppins, Captain America, The Mickey Mouse Club, Lilo and Stitch, Once Upon A Time, Phineas and Ferb, Hannah Montana, Up, Mulan

There is no singular main character for the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy collectively.
Each of them do go through a lot of character growth as the stakes keep rising. A young lady daughter of the Governor turned Pirate King. The rescued ship wrecked boy who trained to become a blacksmith now ferries souls of damned sailors. A pirate captain without a ship to command wins back the very vessel he bargained his soul for (and loses her again).
They all actively move and respond to the plot. You cannot take one out and have the same film (as the following movies might have attested).
4/3 Now that all three main character questions of the Pirates Trilogy have been answered we have another question:
This poll is for The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, and At World's End
for reference: part 1 part 2 part 3
This will be the last of Pirate of the Caribbean Question Week polls

Elizabeth Swann has been determined to be the Main Character of Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End.
Yes! Pirate King! Don't we love democracy! It is really cool how the result give us the impression that if you don't think this is Elizabeth's movie, you think it has to be about all of them. And as the last in the trilogy (and perhaps last foreseen at the time) all their arcs get nicely wrapped up.
3/3: We were debating about how the Pirates of the Caribbean movies worked so well specifically focused on the trilogy's main trio's dynamics. We need your thoughts.
If you had to choose:
This poll is just for At World's End

Captain Jack Sparrow has been determined to be the Main Character of Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest.
We would be inclined to agree since a majority of the plot is Jack messing with other people as he tries his hardest to get out of the dept Davy Jones is calling in.
We do appreciate the idea that, when pressed, people will chose Will as the main character more than insisting on the team effort. Perhaps this is because he is trying to settle some unresolved business twix him and his twice cursed pirate father the whole film

If you had to pick:
This poll is just for Dead Man's Chest

First and foremost: at 24 hours there were 79 votes.
Jack had 17, 21.5% Elizabeth had 25, 31.6%, Will had 22, 27.8% and Collective was 13, 16.5% The main difference is that Jack and Collective switched place
Elizabeth has been determined to be the Main Character of Pirates of The Caribbean the Curse of the Black Pearl.
It is fitting given how she initiates much of the conflict by wearing the necklace when she falls into the water and is very active in escaping the Pirates, being rescued by the Navy, and getting Will back too!
side note, we did watch the video @redtutel shared and have many new thoughts about this movie in particular... but we still wish it had been Will

On Stranger Tide is not a bad film in and of itself. See, most of y'all made it through unscathed.
It is a different flavor from the first three films, especially without key characters like Will and Elizabeth (and Pantel and Ragetti). But we did find it entertaining. The additional confirmation of mermaids in the waters would have been fun to explore more for sure (we have thoughts).
Over all, we would suggest to those of you who haven't seen it (and are interested in the franchise) to add it to the list. Maybe instead of a typical holiday weekend marathon of a well-seen 8 movie fantasy franchise, try this one instead!
Did we mention Finnick Odair Sam Claflin is in it?
Pirates of the Caribbean Question Week: The 4th Movie
Captain Jack Sparrow encounters his ex, a pirate named Angelica, who shanghaies him to help Blackbeard find the Fountain of Youth. He thinks it will help him avoid his death. They encounter a missionary and a mermaid on their adventures. Captain Barbossa is around as is the Spanish interest.

as is Jack and the Kraken and everyone else is too
(side note, do you think it would be really difficult to catch a ride with the sea turtles? And did Will actually do it?)

How could anyone expect something different??
Pintel and Ragetti are an essential component to the trilogy and everyone knows it!
From ""ello, Poppet" and "Parlay?" to parasols to being decent and removing temptation for their friends to a fork in the eye to knowing what vexes all men to tying themselves upside down and everything else! They truly are two halves of the same brain. Remind us again, how do you pronounce "Kraken"?
Side note: do you know how difficult it was to find lady representation? We mentioned it in the ramblings but please take note of our struggle.
Pirates of the Caribbean Dynamic Duos
Ramblings under the cut:
We purposely did not include the main romantic pairs from the movies (Will & Elizabeth, Elizabeth & Jack, Elizabeth & Norrington, Calypso & Davy Jones, Philip & Syrena, Jack & Angelica, Henry & Carina...) but that's not saying if you see romance up there it's a wrong interpretation (at least not for the human pairs)
Of the 9 pairs, 8 are in the movies (definitely the trilogy). Anne and Mary are the painted ladies visitors see while standing in line for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. They were supposed to be worked into other places, the rides and movies both, but it never panned out. Scarlett and Giselle are the pair of working women who slap Jack multiple times, their story is explained in a short. We went looking for Ladies to include.
We included Sumbhajee and Askay solely because of Askay casting the vote for Sumbhajee for Sumbhajee. It lives rent free.
Jack (not the monkey) gets two pairs because we say a list of this very concept which included "Jack and the Black Pearl" and had to go with it, BUT we did want to honor Gibbs too (plus we felt Gibbs was a truer pair than Will or Barbossa for Jack).
Finally we are expecting Murtogg & Mullroy and Pintel & Ragetti to be leading, but we do live to be surprised!
