mindfulness alternatives for people who find it boring but really need to switch off for a bit
Writing this because I am tired of trying to sit still with my eyes closed and not think IT DOESNT WORK FOR ME.
But I have found the following to be e f f e c t i v e ~
Painting your nails
Hanging out with a dog/guinea pig/hamster
Building with Lego (providing you don't take it super seriously and get annoyed when you realise you've missed a piece several steps back )
Qigong - it's a moving-meditation-breathwork-exercise(?) It's good, anyway (Qigong With Kseny on YouTube is good)
Gardening. Indoor plants count. Go stick your fingers in the soil for a bit it's amazing
Colouring
Watching cartoons or anime
TETRIS. It's been proven to help people with PTSD, too
Reading is never going to be bad for you
Walking. Yeah I know 🙄 but people rave about it BECAUSE IT WORKS. It actually makes you feel better. Especially if you slow down and pay attention to the small details in the environment. You'll notice things you've been missing for years, and that's quite cool.

Cortisol is what helps regulate your metabolism, blood sugar levels, memory function and reduces inflammation. Cortisol is great.
BUT if you’re someone who is consistently stressed, have pituitary gland issues or are on certain medication, there’s a chance your cortisol levels may be high.
Signs your cortisol levels may be high:
- weight gain, mostly around the midsection and upper back
- weight gain and rounding of the face
- fatty deposits between shoulder blades
- deep purple stretch marks on your abdomen
- easy bruising
- muscle weakness
- severe fatigue, easily tired
- irritability
- increased anxiety levels
- difficulty concentrating
- high blood pressure
- headaches
- thinning hair
- difficulty waking up/low energy in the mornings and difficulty falling asleep/high energy at night
So what can you do?
- Let’s get it checked out by a doctor before we worry and add onto the stress.
- Identify stress triggers. Keep a stress diary and write down the fact. Then analyze what about the situation caused you a negative reaction.
- Learn to recognize thoughts that cause stress.
- Pay attention to the quality of your sleep.
- Exercise regularly. Try more low impact exercises and preferably avoid exercising at least 2 hours before bedtime.
- Find something to do. Try out different hobbies. Gardening, journaling, crocheting, art, learning something new, tufting, baking, pottery. The list is endless!
- Laugh often. A study published in 2008 found that even the anticipation of laughter leads to a decrease in blood levels of cortisol, as well as two other stress hormones, adrenaline, and norepinephrine.
- Get a pet. A study showed that interaction with animals affects stress and found that long-term interaction with dogs, even strangers, as well as pet ownership, has a positive effect on cortisol levels. In addition, the interaction between owner and dog increases the level of oxytocin in both.
- Eat more cortisol-lowering foods. Think dark chocolate, probiotics, black tea, green tea, avocados, green leafy vegetables, berries, bananas, nuts and seeds.
- Spend time in nature. A simple walk around the neighborhood, walking barefoot in the grass, birdwatching, gardening, a walk in the park! Just being outside and doing some deep breathing will work wonders.

Day 1
Hi my name is Yetunde.
Last year I took "me time" but it really was just time to work, not to say I didn't work on myself but I cared so much about the numbers. The numbers do matter but I'm ngl current fame on social media comes with a lot of corniness that I do think that I am above.
I have a deep desire to travel, eat, and take pictures with the love of my life, decorate homes, and collect art, and heal my body, and dress in my own unique way not too heavily influenced by what others are doing. I've fallen in love with life's little moments, learning about people on a deeper level, laughing, keeping good people around me etc.
I love growth, I've grown quite a bit in the last year and I think living positively is "controversial"
I'm not stepping away from my brand per say but I'm really blessed to be in the position I'm currently in. Idk if its considered slow living, but I want my life to 100% be my choice especially while I have the freedom to do so, before im tied down with contracts and obligations.
So this blog is about me being deliberate about how I feel each day, me sharing what I'm learning, how I'm feeling, and how I'm healing each area of my life.
In this era I hope to eat good food, connect with different kinds of people, see the world, take way more pictures, feel way more pleasure, feel safe in love, and continue being at peace in this very chaotic world.

“Research has shown that fear-based discipline actually fosters the behaviors that parents are trying to eliminate. Such strategies teach children to be more resistant to parental authority and may alter their brain chemistry for life.” - Dr. Becky A. Bailey PhD in Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline.
