mindfulness alternatives for people who find it boring but really need to switch off for a bit
Writing this because I am tired of trying to sit still with my eyes closed and not think IT DOESNT WORK FOR ME.
But I have found the following to be e f f e c t i v e ~
Painting your nails
Hanging out with a dog/guinea pig/hamster
Building with Lego (providing you don't take it super seriously and get annoyed when you realise you've missed a piece several steps back 🤬)
Qigong - it's a moving-meditation-breathwork-exercise(?) It's good, anyway (Qigong With Kseny on YouTube is good)
Gardening. Indoor plants count. Go stick your fingers in the soil for a bit it's amazing
Colouring
Watching cartoons or anime
TETRIS. It's been proven to help people with PTSD, too
Reading is never going to be bad for you
Walking. Yeah I know 🙄 but people rave about it BECAUSE IT WORKS. It actually makes you feel better. Especially if you slow down and pay attention to the small details in the environment. You'll notice things you've been missing for years, and that's quite cool.
