I feel like I should say since there's been a recent uptick in a lot of communities I'm in/see stuff from a lot of white people pretending to be Asian, but you are not welcome here if you are in anyway stealing from Asian cultures for clout or the aesthetics of it

This includes if you're white and you give your self inserts Asian names, I truly do not care if your f/o is from an anime, you should not be using an Asian name under any circumstances. I hate that whenever I see someone using an Asian name online, I feel like I have to start searching their account to see if they're actually Asian or just a white person who likes the aesthetic of it bcs far too many white people will use Asian names here just bcs it sounds cool, with no regard for the actual cultural meaning behind it. Meanwhile actual Asian people will be mocked for their names, or treated like their names are too hard to learn to pronounce, or discriminated against based on their names

Asian cultures are not a fun little costume for people to dress up with. They aren't just a nice aesthetic, they aren't just a thing you can borrow from bcs you think it sounds cool

I've never seen the tim and cass are twins hc but I Have seen jason and cass are twins/bio siblings but that stems from I think them being the same age and shiva being thrown in the ring super briefly as a possible candidate for jason's mom that one time. Not saying that particular hc makes any sense, but tim and cass makes even less to me. Like why twins cass is older than him

Yeah Jason and Cass being twins is super funny to me actually, it has a canon basis and it makes people less likely to de-age Cass. Since Jason turned out to be fully White though, was Bruce just like 'he looks kinda Asian'?? And he was just wrong?? It actually is hilarious I love thinking about Bruce looking at Jason and being like 'hm... that's not a White boy...' Certainly the world's greatest detective.

People replied to my post saying the Tim-Cass thing is mostly haircut based, and I love that because they do have very androgynous haircuts. But overall it still removes too many Cass-specific aspects (as you said she's older, I also think she would have darker skin, + obviously Asian features) so while it's fun for some jokes I'm still not sure why it's such a prevalent thing to say. Hmmm, well honestly I could talk all day about this topic LMAO but for your sake and mine I'll keep it brief and focus mostly on two especially grating depictions i dislike. I have some posts queued up down the line for how i tend to see japan so feel free to ask me about that when i get around to posting it ehehe

"Polite, cute, shy, quiet" japan depictions reallllly don't work for me. Like it's one thing to say that Japan is a reserved guy who puts value in having good manners and doesn't want to come across as rude, but it's another to turn him into a wilting flower who's easily dominated by louder personalities and turns into a side character. Besides it falling into ur typical trope of the "diminutive east asian who needs to be taught by their loud non easian (usually white) partner how to stand up for themself and live life a little," I think it's just patently false, both canonically and historically lmao. Like hima has called Japan a stubborn old man before, and history will tell you that Japan is nothing if not resourceful and very very proud, lol. He may bite his tongue, but I imagine that hes not someone who easily gives up or submits or at least without a fight 😂

Germany-Italy-Japan trio, or "Axis" trio, depictions never go over well for me, lol. I'm of the mindset that you can't really divorce them from their history in WW2, especially if you're going to call them the Axis, like lol the least you could do is call them something new. Furthermore, Geritapan depictions in my opinion are terrible with tokenizing japan as the sole character of color/east asian in the group, but the Worst Geritapan Depictions as of late are shipping gerita with japan off in the cuck chair?? I'm not saying we need to give Japan bitches (because lord knows he doesn't deserve any) but wow, congrats, you made your only East Asian man an emasculated yellow guy who just pines and copes over a white love interest who dgaf about him <3 a win for diversity!!!

anyways, if you're going to ship gerita but treat japan like this, i would rather you ship germany and italy together like a normal person and leave japan out of it 🙏

One thing that pisses me off is that Black History month is advertised more than Native American History month.

Native American History Month happens in November.

NOVEMBER. A LITERAL MONTH WHERE PEOPLE SKIP OVER THE MOST IMPORTANT HOLIDAY INVOLVING SAID NATIVE AMERICANS. BECAUSE AMERICANS ARE TOO BUSY WAITING FOR A FAT GUY TO BREAK INTO THEIR HOUSE TO DO REVERSE STEALING.

I feel like it should be a law that after middle school, each high school grade year, we learn about all of the cultures. Freshman is Black History, Sophmore is Native Americans, Junior is Mexican History, and Senior is Asian Culture.

It feels desperately unfair that the only reason we knew native americans is because of racist cartoons, thanksgiving, and columbus. The only reason I found out about what REALLY happened to native americans IS BECAUSE I MOVED TO OKLAHOMA.

1900s Cartoons stereotyped Native Americans as violent, smoking, red-faced idiots. Mexicans as Illegal bordercrossers and don't know how to keep it in their pants. Asians as dumb dumb guys who just eat rice and say "ching chong" >:(
