Anyway, I have a theory. This may or may not be far fetched though I don’t believe it is. I’ve researched into what I could and the Bully fandom rarely mentions it, so I thought I would bring this to the table: Gary Smith has Bipolar disorder. Not ADD, not sociopathy like everyone claims (why are we trusting the other students to diagnose him), not schizophrenia, and not NPD but bipolar disorder. Hear me out. He clearly has delusions of grandeur, paranoia, and he seems to be generally delusive as well as cringey in speech. I mean this in a way where he doesn’t really seem to be aware of how edgy/annoying he is. Here’s some examples with speech.

“I keep imagining myself in charge of a large empire!”

“Friends? Friends are for the weak!”

“I'm a genius! Geniuses don't NEED medication!”

^ inflated self-worth, extreme self-confidence

“I despise weak people!”

(fire alarm triggered) “I hope someone is burning.” LMAOOOO

“I can't believe I switched my meds again!”

^ Including this one because bipolar often leads to switching meds pretty frequently. not the most sufficient piece of evidence though, because ADHD might be similar.

He seems to be going through a manic episode, which is potentially why he was placed in Happy Volts to start with. Manic can induce psychosis, and I’m fairly certain that was why he seemed so fucked up. Also, manic episodes cause a lot of goal-motivated behavior, which is basically the only thing he’s doing for most of the game. He believes that he’s above all else and generally overestimates himself because of his inflated sense of self-worth. He still seems to have emotions, albeit influenced by said episode, so I don’t think he’s a sociopath. Bipolar disorder can cause inattentiveness and is somewhat frequently misdiagnosed as ADHD, therefore it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for him to not have it. But ADHD and Bipolar have a high degree of comorbidity so he could have both. Personal anecdote, he reminds me of myself. Anyway thanks for coming to my tedtalk. How dead is this fandom again?
