A lot of early concept stuff was expression/pose brainstorming - there’s the classic six Webkinz emotions (which, I learned have been largely pared down to just four after a point! Since they got rid of Dr. Quack’s role, there’s no more “sick” expression and most ‘Kinz’ tired and sad expressions are the same! >:0 What’s the point of having an easily editable puppet with the spaghetti code intact that you have to put an image there AnyWay and not make a slightly different expression!! H’f) as well as the main Sakura poses - so if I’m already making up expressions, why no go a little further! :D

One of the expressions I definitely needed up top was Mischievous - working with a cat, that’s the only logical conclusion really. I think it’s funny that she swerves the compliment only to pay it right back as well lol

The ticklish expression is one I’m still going back and forth on! I’m half tempted to have it be somewhere between happy and angry - maybe a mood gradient, starting out just positive and slowly moving into “Hey stop! >:0″ if it’s too many times in a row? It’s a thought haha

Similarly so, messing with her ears - bothering your pets is a very important element of socialization (lol)

As seen above, I’d reallyyy like to figure a way to have a dual-visual mood system - both the ‘Kinz body language/expression/emotion and a more exact stat bar. I’m still chewing on this idea a bit, no pun intended lol. That and click-and-drag with an actual image you can drag around your screen, hm and hm! Much to think about. Her face here turned out cute and funny haha, helped me push the expression more comedic

Much better :) Webkinz already has some well-known food dialogue, my favourite is probably “Mmm to the mmmax!” haha

Each low-mood would have their own emotion tied to it, but what about somewhere in the middle? I like the idea of the ‘Kinz getting bored if they’re left alone for too long! And little paw taps, showing off her embroidered paw pad haha ♪

I finished most of it a while ago but the scythe just took forever because I couldn’t figure it out and kept redoing it. I think it turned out good though!

Dissection/Theory Analysis of Able:

So we all know about how Caine constantly feels undermined by his little brother's overachieving, but how does Able feel about it? I think the things that he does aren't ill-intended - he's instead trying to keep up with the great achievements of his older brother(how Caine knows multiple languages and has many accolades) and in his admiration of his brother's feats incidentally surpasses them from all the effort he puts into each act. Each pursuit he bests Caine in is just an attempt to better understand his brother by becoming a master in the things Caine likes.

Able is inherently people-pleasing, and that initial urge to perform exceptionally and be praised for it(starting with Caine and their parents) has expanded so much that the need to be the "good brother" is something that has fully taken over his identity - causing his gentleman act and his superior skill in everything Caine does. It is no longer just having the right cards to play at the right time to impress others, he must always be on top and visibly be doing so(aka why his face is the four aces in a suit of cards).

But, he's become so blinded by the need to excel in everything he does that he's gone into complete tunnel vision with his "perfect" facade and feels that his brother is the closest thing he has to a real connection with someone without having to be "the best". And even then, with his own brother, he's not comfortable enough to completely let his guard down and be a person without focusing on pleasing everyone around him

I love my man Able and I have so many theories about how he's handling all the pressure(I'm down bad for him AND want to psychoanalyze him since you gave us such juicy material in the Freakshow fic(which I'd guess is at least partially true to the direction you're heading with him in the carnival and normal aus)). He's my poor little meow meow(even tho he seems mostly fine in all the art we've seen of him) :)

Kaaaahhh!! *falls & eats the curb and drops all of my chaos Terran doodles.* BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING I KNOW CARS ISN’T DREAMWORKS!! I already got erm actually-ed. Spitfire and Am my poor doomed kids.

For both their designs I took a lil spin on it. For Am this the way I like to draw him. He acts gross so now he can look gross. He also doesn’t look baby in the show so meh, No further comments.

For Spitfire I gave her features that make look stronger and meaner even tho she’s mostly supposed to look just like Twitch. To me there is no point in drawing her just like twitch because the evil twin thing can be ruled out because they are completely different colors and they also went with the body swap thing. So I think making her look stockier and emo is more fun. I should draw a side-by-side comparison sometime.

Spoiler S2 rant* I get a little bit into delulu land so bear with me.

Jokes aside. I liked the chaos Terrans and the way they were handled wasn’t right. I hope they are able to make a comeback In the future and get redeemed because they deserve it. I feel really bad for them. It’s like they were labeled as Chaos and not to be trusted from the beginning I don’t think anyone truly understood them. I get that the chaos Terrans had wronged the Malto’s multiple times from the start but I think the way they went about handling them was so laxed. They just let the decepticons have them so they could be further influenced into the wrong path. It’s like they were doomed from the start.

After all they were just kids. I’ve been labeled as the bad, dumb, asshole kid before. Most of my school days I was in special ED and I was also pretty high energy too. So I can relate, if you are already labeled as bad or dumb why try to be anything else? Or trying to be cool and hanging around the wrong crowd just to be taken advantage of in the end.

They weren’t completely chaos either. They listened to the Decepticons. Following orders till the very end, if they were chaotic like their name implying would they just not listen to anyone and do whatever they wanted without any care of anyone else? Here’s what I think. The chaos Terrans (mostly Spitfire.) we’re trying to impress what they perceived as the cooler badder bots. That’s some kid shit, most kids try to get in with the group of cool kids. Why not stay with the Maltos? Cause that’s not cool to them. Do you want to hang out with the teachers pet or steal and break shit.

In defense of Aftermath. He’s capable of playing nice, he’s not evil. Him and Jb had a relatively good day with each other. He didn’t out right attack on sight. I think he took the water cause he didn’t want to seem like a looser in his heavily flawed mindset. Am is more of an impediment of Chaos, he just smashes and breaks shit cause he can. Honestly I think if you him just take him to a rage room he’d be fine.

In defense of Spitfire (who is a wayy more complicated case.) She was literally born that morning how was she supposed to know not hurting humans was an autobot rule. I think deep down she was jealous of Twitch’s family and opportunities. She has a competitive spirit and I think she wanted that mission to impress the bigger bots (even if she was rude to them.) when she was in Twitch’s body and said things like Chaos Terrans are bad and not to be trusted I wound if she was projecting what she thought they were thinking about her already. When she was cast out and went with the decepticons was they don’t like me and they don’t like you either so I’ll just hang with you guys. With that being said she’s naive too (it’s fine BECAUSE SHES A KID.) see the way starscream tells her good job or touches her shoulder, she wants his approval and to make him just like all kids with their parents. And then when she is ultimately betrayed, she’s a deer in headlights, shocked and afraid, probably realizing that she provided the weapon needed to killer her and her brother. She looked up to Starscream. Showing her fear and shock by being betrayed like that really showed us that Spitfire is so much more than just a bad guy. It really made me sad when she was screaming and saying no, god she needed help.

None of the chaos Terrans had gotten the opportunity to really learn or get to find something they like to do. The other Terrans had plenty of time to think about an alt mode, learn lessons get nurtured and cared for. The chaos Terrans had to get their alt modes immediately both out of necessity. Most of the time Am was just wandering around bored, he wasn’t being nurtured or taught anything. The cons didn’t care about them at all, neither did the autobots or Maltos that much. 

Saying Chaos Terrans are going to chaos or decepticons are gonna do what they do. Is super incorrect. It’s just labeling and not expecting anything more from these individuals which goes against the entire point of season one.

“Faster!” Jed yelled, one hand holding his cowboy hat so that it wouldn’t get lost. “He is catching up!” Beside him, Octavius laughed and pressed the pedal down as far as it would go. They skidded around the corner, almost too fast. Behind them, the giant T-Rex skeleton followed them, trying to get his bone back. It was their nightly activity. Rexy needed the exercise, or he would get restless and try to hunt the animals. One week, their small car was broken and Larry had taken AGES to repair it, and Rexy actually ate one of the Neaderthales. Well, he ripped him to shreds and then tried to swallow him. They actually had managed to put him together again and he only looked slightly mangled, so he had to stand in the back now but eh, it was fine. Now that the car got fixed, they could take Rexy out for exercise again. “Oh, look out”, Jed screamed when they skidded too far around the corner. But it was too late. While they made the turn, Rexy did not and crashed directly into the Christmas tree, throwing it over with full force. The tree shattered in many pieces, Christmas balls and lights flying everywhere, covering the ground in shards. “Oh oh”, Octavius and Jed said at the same time. The car came to a stop and Rexy happily grabbed his bone, and Jed was reeling to loosen the rope that connected the single bone to their car and not have it ripped up in the air and possibly broken again. Then the two looked at the downed tree in silence, until Rexy was bored with the bone and started trying to chew the tree. “No! Stop!”, both of them yelled at the same time - tho of course it didn’t deter the T-Rex who loved cracking each and every Christmas ornament open and then pulling out the garlands. “And now?”, Jed asked after they had watched Rexy take the tree apart meticulously. “They need that for the Christmas Party tomorrow! We are dead if they find out!” A twinkle from the windows caught their attention and both of them had a figurative lightbulb over their head. A few minutes later they were climbing on Rexy. Octavius then put the stick forward to which they had fixed a single shiny Christmas ornament, which caught the dinosaur's attention. He tried to reach it, making one step, then another. “It works!” Jed said happily and clapped Octavius on the back. “Now let's go!” They steered Rexy out of the museum and towards their target. “Mum look! There is a Christmas dinosaur!”, a little girl cried, pointing out of the window. “Anna, shut up. You are watching too much TV!” her mum scolded, because when she looked out of the window, there was nothing. “But there was!” “You look too much on that stupid phone of yours.” This scene happened, in one way or another, in many households in New York that night. The three outside didn’t notice of course. They were set on their target - well Jed and Octavius were, Rexy was constantly getting distracted by shiny lights and Christmas decorations around. “Next time we take the car!” Jed complained, when Rexy took yet another detour to try and eat yet ANOTHER inflatable Santa Clause. “If you tell me how we are supposed to transport a Christmas tree with our car, sure”, Octavius muttered. Jed huffed, but had to admit he was right. And after Rexy was disappointed when the inflatable Santa lost all of his air, they managed to get him to keep walking. And then there was their target in sight. “It’s a bit big, do you think, it will fit?”, Jed asked and Octavius eyed the tree up and down. “It will. I think. If not we will get the beavers to gnaw off part of the lower part.” They both nodded. “Now we just need to make sure that Rexy will not destroy it again.” “And carry it back.”

“Go fetch!”, Jed yelled, and pointed in the direction. They had put Rexy's bone in the tree - which had been a struggle to do, but the only plan they had come up with. And now the T-Rex - who had been busy trying to lick the ice in the ice rink - snapped his head up, locking in on his target. He was over to the tree with a few big strides, grabbing it and trying to lift it. Once. Then twice. Then a third time. It was not looking good. “We are so dead”, Octavius groaned and buried his face in his hands. But Rexy was not easily deterred. It was his bone, and his big stick and he WOULD get it. He growled and put all his weight into the next pull - and it worked. He lifted the tree straight from his stand and made a happy noise. “Yes!” The two cheered happily and got back on. Now there was a problem tho. The tree was so big that none of them could see where they were going. And Rexy had a lot of sparkling Christmas ornaments in front of him. Steering wouldn’t work anymore. “Uhmmm.” They looked at each other. “And now?” But before they could start coming up with a plan, Rexy began to walk. “Oh, this is not good!”, Octavius said, but they could only hold on and hope Rexy would eventually go back to the museum - before the sun went up too. Because the dinosaur was not deterred by anything. Shouting, pulling, ordering - nothing worked. They also couldn’t see that Rexy had spotted a bus with a Santa Clause on it - and was determined to see if that one was edible. He was following the bus, growling when his prey kept getting away from him time and time again. Conveniently, the bus took the route to the museum, and seemingly the driver didn’t notice that he was followed by a big Christmas tree carrying dinosaur. In front of the museum, the bus had to stop at a red light long enough for Rexy to finally catch up and growl angrily when his prey turned out to be a piece of metal. Frustrated, the dinosaur turned towards the museum to go home, flicking the image of Santa hard with his tail as he turned around and breaking it. Inside, they actually had to call the beavers over, because the tree trunk didn’t fit in the stand, but it was done pretty soon and then they were all standing around and admiring their new Christmas tree. They had simply put the old tree somewhere in the basement, hoping no one would ever find it. “It’s a bit bigger than the old one”, Octavius said. “Yeah well, they won’t notice.” Jed wrapped an arm around the Roman. The next morning Dr. McPhee and Larry stood in the entrance hall of the museum, looking at the tree. “Is there any explanation why our Christmas tree is gone and was replaced with the ROCKEFELLER CENTER CHRISTMAS TREE?!” Behind them, the radio was playing news about a Christmas dinosaur.

hello!! im really curious on how you specifically do male anatomy!! thanks :)

Interesting question for me bc… I admittedly don’t think about it too much? Even in my twink era I definitely made everyone a bit more androgynous leaning in body type. I try to focus more on body shape and language and other features to highlight a certain character instead of having a specific xyz anatomy guide I need to follow. Ofc, still look at and study anatomy, but those guides I see of, less more common now tho, that are like, ‘oh you have to make your girls curvier! Hourglass figure! Man: muscle. Block.’ I always found them kinda restrictive in the variety you can do in the end… It’s fine to do stuff like that, but mehhhh I don’t consciously think to do that 24/7. It’s fine to play into ‘stereotypes’ bc it is how our brains recognize things and hey sometimes the curves are fun to play with, but don’t like limit yourself to them, if that makes sense. If I have to pinpoint somethings I do consistently…. I think I tend to give my masculine characters broader shoulders. Just little details.

AAAA HELL YEAHHHH!!!!! LET'S GOOOO!!!!!

You've opened a can of worms asking me for art advice so *cracks knuckles* buckle up.

I sort of (only a little bit) use the Loomis method for easy head drawing. Here is a playlist of YouTube videos by Proko. Highly, highly recommend that channel for your art tutorial needs!

I start with a circle. For side profiles, I draw a line down the side of the circle to determine where the features will sit upon. I draw a triangular shape to mark where the orbital socket is. Around the middle point of the circle is where the jawline ends and the ear begins so draw a line there. There are proportion rules which are good guidelines when starting out in art but since I've been doing this my entire life, I have a feel for things and just wing it. That's to say, I put in a line implying the jaw based on vibes.

Next, I draw the eyebrows and brow ridge. Then the nose. I find I majorly base my proportions on this area so if anything is off, it throws the rest of the face off.

Then I draw the lips and chin... or in Obi-Wan's case, his beard. I will mark in his sideburns and hairline as well. Now, about ears: generally the top of the ear begins right around the top of the eyebrow and stops at the base of the nose. At this point I like to draw his eye, define the cheekbone, and refine the eyebrow. I'll finish scribbling in hair and that's it!

Extended Art Advice 👇

Tip #1: Draw lightly. Do not ever grip your pencil tight. This only leads to pain. You will notice I didn't erase at all. This is partly because I know what marks to make because I've done it a million times before and also because my lines are soft enough I can make lots of them and choose to deepen the ones that work.

Tip #2: Practice, practice, practice. Artistic skill is just loads and loads of accumulated knowledge and muscle memory from practice. This sounds boring but, in reality, you should make it fun.

Tip #3: Draw from observation/USE REFERENCE! The only reason I can get away without using reference when I'm feeling lazy is because I've drawn the same things over and over enough times it stuck. Aka I did lots of practice.

Now, to combine all these tips together, let's talk about how to use reference and how to make practice fun.

Reference is a huge aid when drawing at any point in your art journey. But I've found that in order to learn from what you're looking at, you need to think critically.

You obviously have something you want to draw. Reference helps you with that. You'll start out trying to draw what you see. Eventually you will run into an obstacle where you've messed up and things aren't looking good. This is to be expected. Every time this happens, think about what isn't working and find solutions with your reference. Analyze your subject to find your answers. Draw it again. Do not be afraid of failure. Each time you fail, you must look for a solution and this will lead you closer to your goal. This is how you grow as an artist.

I know, it sounds dreadfully boring and like a shit ton of work. It is a lot of work but you can make it fun! You love Obi-Wan and Cody so make Pinterest boards of Ewan McGregor and Temuera Morrison. Whatever you want to practice (may that be eyes, mouths, hands, hair, the face as a whole, etc) draw them. Ever hear tracing is bad? Fuck that. It's a perfectly valid tool to help you learn. If you're drawing digitally, pull up your reference in the art program of your choice, lower the opacity a little, make a new layer and trace what you see. I honestly find tracing to be very hard so when I've done this, I prefer to try to find shapes that will aid me when I'm actually drawing. If you're drawing traditionally, you can print out the photo and trace over it with a tracing paper or use a lightbox. You can also up the brightness on your computer screen and tape a piece of paper and trace that way.

Photos aren't the only references you can use! You can always look to your favorite artists' work and try to figure out how they do it. Often artists will break things down into more easily digestible shapes that will help you better understand how things work. Remember, if you ever copy or trace someone's art, it is for learning purposes only and you shouldn't post it. Feel free to take elements of people's art that you like and put your own spin on it though. For instance: I really love how this one artist draws men's tits so I studied a bunch of their art and now I'm much better at drawing them.

Oh and did you think you only get practice in while studying? Wrong! There's no reason you should shy away from trying to make the art you really want just because your skills aren't the most refined. Spoiler alert: you will grow the most when you push yourself out of your comfort zone. Draw codywan kissing. Draw it really enthusiastically and through profuse swearing and gritted teeth... but never a clenched hand. Don't hold back from the fun stuff just because it's hard. Aim high, land low, and shoot even higher next time.

In the beginning it will be especially frustrating. You'll feel like everything you make is a failure and nothing works out. You'll feel like you're not making any progress. Trust me, you are making progress and I believe in you.

If something really isn't working out and you find yourself growing distressed, take a break. It might last an hour or a week. Just take the break. Don't push it. Come back with fresh eyes and less stress. We all have days where nothing comes out right. Sometimes I can't even draw anything resembling a human face. It's okay. Whisper-yell expletives at your artwork and take the break. It will be okay.

Playing through Omori very, very slowly. I haven’t gotten around any actual fanart, but I made a couple doodles in my sketchbook I can share for now. I am currently in Sweetheart’s castle and about to fight her garden statue I believe.

This took place in the daylight world (that’s what I call it idk) after the bathroom scene with Basil. I panicked the second I exited into the hallway and he wouldn’t let me back in, genuinely thought he was gonna kill himself. Anyways, turns out he’s FINE (as fine he Basil can be) so I just pictured them sitting like this against the door, I think this would look nice if I digitilized it I just don’t have the drive rn.

For the clothes, at least, it's like... Marcille is probably more horrified by the clothing being actually made for and marketed to men than anything else. I bet she'd be fine if Falin wore the exact same things but they were in the women's section, or at least, branded unisex. She would be so so silly about arbitrary stuff like that in a modern setting.

The hair I think is a tangled issue of Falin's resemblance to Laios getting a little too obvious for Marcille's mental health, and Marcille's own very intense relationship with how (female) mages should treat their hair. Also, since it's mostly a joke doodle, I kind of took it as a flanderized Bad Taste Marcille being horrified by a woman with short hair because she buys into gender norms. Some people are... weird about what women do with their hair and unfortunately I can fully see how Marcille can be weird like that in a vacuum joke setting.

(there's also something to be said about how this kind of femininity policing could also be used as plausibly deniable homoerotic subtext. like, girl, why do you care that much about how cute another girl looks? hm?)
