The Light Fury: A Needlessly Thorough Character Design Analysis

Let me start by admitting I'd actually quite like the Light Fury's design if only it were completely removed from the context of HTTYD. If I saw the piece of concept art below in a freelance artist's portfolio, I'd think it's wonderful; same with a lot of the fanart I've seen. And for the record, I also have a soft spot for SilkWings from the Wings of Fire series and Skydancers from Flight Rising, so it's not like I expect every dragon design to be spiky and ferocious-looking.

But in the HTTYD films specifically, dragons being spiky and ferocious-looking is consistently a key part of the art direction, so the Light Fury looks extremely out of place compared to literally all the other dragons. Toothless was always somewhat sleeker and more mammal-ish than the other dragon species, true, but not to such a jarring extent. Unlike the rest of her kind (Toothless included), the Light Fury has completely smooth skin with no textured scales or spikes; all her features (even her teeth!) are completely rounded with no pointy or rough edges; her wings are shaped more like a seabird's than a bat's; her tail fins are distinctly heart-shaped; and she literally has pink glitter on her hide, for fuck's sake. Juxtaposed to the films' art style for every other dragon species, she sticks out like a sore thumb, hardly even resembling a dragon at all -- more like an alien invader from Planet Gender Roles.

…Yeah, about that. In the art book the filmmakers explicitly stated that they didn't want her to look reptilian like other dragons, because she's a feeeeemaaaaale and therefore has to look like one. Never mind the fact that the other female dragons in the films like Stormfly and Meatlug have never had that issue.

So let me be blunt: the Light Fury's visual design is misogynistic. She is designed with the sole purpose of being "feminine" and "pretty" as a male character's love interest, and on top of defying the films' art direction just to make her more conventionally beautiful, her design checks off the majority of the clichés used to impose human gender stereotypes onto animated female animals: lighter color, blue eyes, heavily rounded features, smaller paws/claws and nose/snout, less cartoony exaggeration, and an inexplicable smoothness in the way she is drawn/rendered. (Once you're consciously aware of those clichés, you'll start noticing them in nearly every animated animal film, so HTTYD is far from unique in that regard… but that just makes this widespread pattern in Hollywood all the more concerning.)

All these design choices are also counterproductive to her supposed narrative purpose of being the "wild and untamed" foil to the "domesticated" Toothless -- if that's the case, shouldn't she look more reptilian and ferocious, not less? Many of her traits like big blue eyes and a short rounded snout are actually associated with domestication, so shouldn't she resemble a wild animal instead? Nah, gender roles are clearly the priority here.

And no, despite the popular fan theories, the filmmakers have never confirmed or even hinted that the Light Fury is aquatic or based off belugas. The head of character animation has stated that the design was largely inspired by snow leopards as a contrast to Toothless having been inspired by black panthers; this is more evident in a piece of early concept art which depicts her as pale gray with a dappled pattern, but she ultimately ended up being pure iridescent white, very far removed from the most recognizable features of snow leopards. Reportedly this was because leopard spots look too much like scars, and scars are obviously unbecoming of a giiiiirl dragon… you can't make this shit up!

Axolotls were also cited as an influence, which would explain the smooth skin and unbroken dorsal sail, but the extreme smoothness still grossly clashes with the rest of the films' dragon designs and her own supposed personality so I don't think that actually justifies it. It's also worth noting that axolotl features are much more apparent in the below piece of concept art, with gill-like head appendages and cleft wings to match, but those didn't make it into the final design either, because I guess anything even slightly pointy-looking isn't "female" enough. (Terns were the final cited inspiration, which purportedly explains why her wings couldn't have a batty shape like literally every other dragon in the films.)

As I've said before, if they just wanted to have the black/white contrast for the night/day yin/yang motif (which isn't necessarily a bad idea on its own) the least they could do is still make the Light Fury look properly dragon-like even with white scales. There have been tons of fanmade drawings and edits of what that might look like, as well as examples of well-designed white dragons both in the films themselves (Valka's Bewilderbeast) and other media (Queen Snowfall my beloved).

So why does this all matter? Is a crappy design really that important? I'd argue yes, because despite many fans looking at the franchise through rose-tinted glasses, HTTYD has never treated its female characters particularly well, and the Light Fury is the most obvious/egregious culmination of that. In addition to the sexist tropes in her visual design, she exists for the sole purpose of being Toothless's beautiful love interest and "call of the wild" to separate him from his human best friend, with no depth to her character -- "Why is she so wild/aggressive to humans?" and "How has Grimmel's cruelty affected her?" are just two examples of basic character development points the film is uninterested in exploring -- and almost no screen time to herself. She doesn't even get a canon name, supposedly because she's just so wild, but all three of her children get names despite being equally wild so that's just a cop-out. (And even if she would never live with humans, Berkians could have still referred to her by a nickname, since real wild animals are often nicknamed by the locals who see them or the zoologists who study them -- shoutout to my favorite California Condor, 1099 "Yarrow".)

This is all part of widespread misogynistic patterns in fiction: animated films designing female animals with human gender stereotypes in mind, and fiction in general constantly mistreating and neglecting female characters. I love the HTTYD films so much, but at the same time, there are some aspects that legitimately warrant criticism, and misogyny is definitely one of them… and the Light Fury exemplifies that better than anything.

Randomized Tribe-swap Featuring... The Dragonets of Destiny!

I've had this idea for a little while, since i never saw any tribe-swaps despite swap aus being popular in most other fandoms I've been in. Btw if you think this idea is cool and wanna do it but feel like your "stealing an idea" or "its already been done so who cares"... NO DON'T LISTEN I WANNA SEE MORE TRIBE-SWAPS, I WANNA SEE YOUR IDEAS!!!!!!!!!!

Clay

Clay, now renamed to Sculpter is a sandwing who grew up in the scorpion den, most young sandwings would be beaten and bruised with many scars but due to his ginormous size despite his age Sculptor was often feared and avoided by other sandwings. He used this to his advantage to protect other dragonets in the scorpion den. Most dragonets saved by him did not stick around because they didn't want to get into more scuffles, but Sculptor slowly accumulated a little group of misfits who stuck by him through thick and thin. Sculpter learned that he had family outside the scorpion den and decided to leave and go find them, with his found family coming with to help him.

Tsunami

Tsunami, now named Swarm is a hivewing who grew up relatively normal, but she started to notice all the injustices that both silkwings and hivewings faced and grew agitated with the system she lived in, but felt she couldn't do anything about it. That is until she found out that she was related to Queen Wasp. She then knew what she had to do, she had to kill Wasp and take the throne for herself so she could fix everything. This... wasn't the best OR easiest plan it turns out, but she soon found help from The Chrysalis and some Leafwings aswell as a mysterious and strange hivewing.

Glory

Glory, now renamed to Aconite is a hivewing who was hidden from her birth mother. She was taken by leafwings by mistake, who did not know the egg they had taken was a hivewing egg. Once the poisonwings figured out she was not a lost leafwing they started to treat her badly. She was treated like a mistake, a monster waiting to burst, telling her her tribe was awful and that they saved her from them. Her only friend was an outcast leafwing, she lost hope in proving the poisonwings wrong about both herself and her tribe. That was until she was sent on a mission to the hives and she met a strange hivewing asking for help to take down the current queen. She soon learned that she and the hivewing, Swarm, are related.

Starflight

Starflight, now renamed to Milkweed is a leafwing born to be a prodigy. He was apart of the effort to create stronger leafspeak but for some unknown reason he was born without it. He was outcasted and treated like the biggest failure next to the hivewing who he hung out with. Hes often bullied, but he is extraordinarily smart, and knows everything about history, herbs, dangerous flora and fauna and about anything else written in a book he can get his hands on. He would prove useful to the group trying to find a way to stop Wasp from her tyrannical rule, as he knew about the breath of evil and how it worked.

Sunny

Sunny now renamed to Beetle is a strange silkwing, shes very charismatic and often gets in trouble for being "too cozy" with hivewings. Shes very upset with how hivewings treat silkwings but she has hope that this will change one day, and this hope is fully ignated once she finds out her mother is apart of a secret group called The Chrysalis. She begs to join, and her mother reluctantly agrees, sending her on her first mission to help out a strange hivewing and some leafwings. On this journey she learns about her lineage and how shes actually part hivewing, and how her father is currently being held captive and frozen in time by wasp. Sunny wants to save her father, and the best way to do it is getting rid of wasps mind control.

AND DONE! I feel so bad that literally everyone BUT clay was made into pantalan dragons. I wasnt originally planning on connecting their stories but i got too many ideas and did it anyway XD

I have zero clue how to tie clay into the rest of this, but despite that i still drew a messy portrait of them all together :3

i might do this with other protagonists but this one took so long that im not really sure anymore...

Moving on from Minecraft dragons for a little while, here are some newer designs for the MLP mane 6, and some notes on their designs

Twilight is obviously a Nightwing, I also made her animus to go with the whole alicorn thing. She has the ability to create prophecies too. I tried to stick to her og color palette but I added some darker colors to really make her accurate to her tribe.

Rarity is literally so Icewing coded, the color pallet fits well within an icewing design, I added some more purple tho just to add to the overall design. I gave her some diamonds imbedded in her chest as a nod to her cutie mark.

Pinkie is a rainwing because its a brightly colored dragon but also because they can change colors, and in the show when pinkie is like super depressed her colors are duller so I thought a color changing dragon would be really good at reflecting that. I imagine that she was adopted and raised by mudwings on a rock farm.

Applejack was originally going to be a sandwing since her colors matched well with them but I ended up choosing mudwing. Mudwings are family oriented dragons and also really muscular so it really fits Applejack. I even drew her hat. I tried to add some speckles on her thigh that looks like apples but they look a little more like pumpkins or bell peppers tbh.

Went through a lot of changes with Rainbow Dash but landed on skywing for her. Her personality really screams skywing and also her whole character revolves around flying really fast which is a Skywing speciality. Idk how canon her colors are but im pretty sure skywings can be grey so I decided to make her a blueish gray. Instead of having actual rainbow patterns they’re paint on racing stripes.

Fluttershy is a silkwing for more obvious reasons, and like Pinkie it was easier to stay on pallete for her colors since silks can be just about any color. I gave her some cool patterns on her wings and some speckles on her body just to add more to the design.

That’s all I have to say about them really !! Im thinking of doing something for the princesses and maybe discord too.

In the future im gonna start posting more original character content just cause it’s easier for me but I will still be doing fan designs !!

-the sandwing kingdom is NOT doing as well as renewal is. around a third of the dragons think that thorn is unfit to rule and onyx has siezed the scorpion den and taken leadership of the rebels; theyre calling themselves the 'serpentcoil rebellion' and onyx has a sick crown with an onyx rattlesnake on it,, shes letting dragons from any tribe join her little rebellion but obviously they have to like. swear loyalty and shit. its pretty crazy yall

-the chaos in the ice kingdom has pretty much settled down. the ~20-25% of the icewings that WERENT asymptomatic have pretty much died out and since asymptomatic dragons are 'immune,' they're actually doing pretty good!! snowfall has taken advantage of her tribe's immunity to send healers to the sky, rainforest, and sand kingdoms. renewal is currently rejecting icewing aid

-literally nobody knows whats up with the mudwings. anyone who goes into that kingdom does not come out

-i alr said this in another post but ruby (who has crazy military strength) wrote to coral like 'yo dawg. send seawings to pantala and let them know about the situation' so she sent shark moray and some other dragons and now that theyre in pantala queen jewel and the silkwing assembly were like 'you guys cant go back for now btw. or else you guys might get sick' so theyre just there for now (coral is getting antsy..)

swr wof crossover au

Exactly five people have shown interest so i have taken that as permission to talk about this a little

(All of the art is not mine, its commissioned from my sister who does not have a tumblr, heres her youtube instagram and deviantart if you want to look at more of her stuff)

Anyway this idea spawned in discord when me and my friends were talking about how there are too few mythical creature aus of starwars and especially rebels and so i jokingly mentioned that someone could do a wings if fire au. It has since consumed my brain. Have some thoughts

Spectre 1, Kanan Jarrus

This guy is a leafwing. Thought process was “He’s green. Connected to the living force. And it would be cool” He is an animus, like all jedi will be in this au. He is one of very few pantalan dragons that have ever been an animus. His backstory isn’t that much different in canon, he ends up in the scorpion den with Hera. He also happens to have fairly strong leafspeak, though it doesn't see much combative action in the desert. At the time rebels starts he is about 11 dragon years old, at the time the empire rose he was 6 dragon years old.

Spectre 2 Hera Syndulla

Hera is a silkwing/sandwing hybrid. Since silkwings were almost entirely slaves or something similar in arc 3, and since twi’leks are the most slaves in starwars, i decided to make her a silkwing, and also because shes pretty. However, a friend said she had strong queen Thorn vibes and so now shes a hybrid sandwing who happens to work with the rebellion in the scorpion den. She has regular silk and also a tail barb, though it is smaller than other sandwings, but its still just as dangerous. Around the time rebels starts she is a little less than ten dragon years old, when the empire rose she was almost 5.

Spectre 3 Chopper

He is actually a little animus enchanted wooden octopus. Basically a while ago an animus decided animus’s were too powerful and purposefully nerfed the entire system, including things like you can enchant living things including the spellcaster, as such, animated carvings and such became fairly common, as they were technically nit alive but could still move as if they were. Think Blob from darkstalker except chopper has the side effect of being much more violent since he was separated from his creator. Hera found him in some ruins during the clone wars. No one knows how old he is.

Spectre 4 Garazeb Orrelios

This guy is just a normal icewing because theres a sad lack of purple icewings in wof canon. And also icewings and nightwings have had a rivalry since forever (i know that was supposed to be fixed in arc two but i needed a reason for a nightwing king to be willing to wipe of a large chunk of a tribe and palpatine in nothing without his ability to hold grudges over things he wasn’t even alive for that dont matter anymore) in this au he is still a captain of a guard, but it isn’t The royal guard (since theres only ten dragon tribes but hundreds of starwars species so we cant just entirely eliminate one dragon tribe with it being a much bigger problem than just the lasat) It is the biggest city besides the one where the royal family lives, and a lot of lesser nobility and a fair chunk of the icewing army, including where they train the new recruits is there. After it gets destroyed (there were Rumors that the nobility of the city were in league with rebellion, so if course the empire decided to go to the extreme and kill literally everyone who lived there) Zeb then goes into hiding in the Scorpion Den, thinking the desert would be the last place they would look for a reputable icewing, and there he meets kanan and hera. They recruit him by fighting imperials together and saving him from death by dehydration. He would have been 20 when the empire rose and 25 by the start of rebels. (@kanerallels has actually made this fic of him meeting kanan and hera go check it out if you haven’t please)

Spectre 5 Sabine Wren

Shes a rainwing. In Darkstalker and in the guide to a dragon world, they are mentioned to be widely feared assassins. Queen Glory wanted the rainwings to not be useless in a fight so she taught some of them to fight. The group that learned to fight took it too far and became the mandalorians, and sabine having been a bounty hunter at some point in canon, and also liking to express herself through her outward appearance, this is what i landed on. All her armor is enchanted by kanan to blend in with her scales when shes trying to be stealthy. This is what eventually persuaded her to join them. She was 1 when the empire rose and is 6 when rebels starts.

Spectre 6 Ezra Bridger

He is a silkwing hivewing hybrid. In the books these tribes seem to be more purposefully agricultural than the other tribes, being the only ones (i think) that have gardens for food instead of decoration, and they also have greenhouses, and lothal is a farming planet. Pantala is also a good out of the way grassland that doesn’t immediately have the attention of the empire, which is very convenient for him since he’s basically the most illegal person to ever exist. Unregistered child (illegal under the empire) who is also a hybrid (also illegal) descendent of a flamesilk (illegal when unregulated) and an animus (illegal period under the empire) and happens to have both abilities(because hes my favorite and i can do whatever i want), as well as a tail barb meant for paralyzing others, though both his flamesilk and his tail barb are significantly weaker than the average because of hybrid genetics. (His tail can barely paralyze tiny dragonets and prey and doesn’t work on bigger things without enhancement, and unless he purposely uses his hottest silk its not hot enough to actually burn most dragons) his parents did work with the rebellion on pantala, but because an emergency they traveled to pyrrhia and brought ezra with them because he was to dangerous to leave alone but were attacked and imprisoned halfway across the ocean, leaving ezra alone, and being like 2 years old at the time, lost his sense of direction and wandered to pyrrhia instead of pantala (bridges were built at some point connecting the continents by the islands) it should be known that he has no idea hes an animus at this point and thinks hes just really good at disguises and everyone else is just very dumb, when in reality hes like enchanting a poncho to make him look like a non hybrid and other accessories to make him look different by accident. He eventually wanders over to the scorpion den and causes a LOT of chaos which led to the ghost crew finding and adopting him. He was born on the first empire day and was about 4.5 years old when rebels starts. (If you want some angst he grows his wings right after malachor and kanan completely misses it)

i tried to give proper justification for all the pt to have their codenames here which for a handful of them meant their names are just. shortened versions of something else. so crow is short for crow poison. aka false garlic. its a type of flower :3. i mean theororetically crow would be a valid name but hes a rainwing here and it didnt seem like a very fitting name with that in mind? but theres a couple rainwings named after flowers i think. hes a rainwing for obvious reasons i think. id like to think hed have a very light color palette that shifts to this when he gives up trying to hide who he is. youuu can see that lighter palette in the art i linked earlier.

fox! which is short for snowfox. yes i know snowfox is a real canon name but yknow what else is canon? icewings have a big list of names they go down. so his name is snowfox. i dont have anything else to say here. like ofc hes an icewing hes YUSUKE. id like to think he left the ice kingdom to go to jade mountain (bc is it a wof au without jade mountain) to "broaden his horizons as an artist". which would be how he meets the other guys

ORACLE!! her real name is beetle but she likes to go by oracle instead. i struggled a bit on what tribe to make her actually. originally i wanted her to be either part or fully rainwing? because i thought her using her camoflauge to hide from people in crowded places could be fun. but eventually i decided i not to do that. i dont think theres any hybrids in this cast actually? might actually change my mind on that to make noir half leafwing but shh. anyways i think a bug is fitting for her. so she gets to be a hivewing. no abilities for her shes just a little guy

I’m gonna draw a dragon again soon so quick rant

You know one thing I REALLY hate in wings of fire? There’s a tiny, little inconsistency throughout the books. And that’s the sizes of scavengers to the dragons. Because I’m just gonna say it here: the “canonical” size comparison such as the picture below makes NO SENSE considering how everything else is just conveniently a decent size for a dragon. And trust me, we WILL get to it being “canonical”

A mango can fit a dragons palm when it should clearly be tiny as the actual love I have for this book series. What about cows? How come they’re described to be massive enough to feed a whole dragon? They should be like a candy bar to those things! And don’t get me started on how completely unrealistic it is for a sloth to be big enough to wrap itself around a rainwing’s neck. Like that must be some pretty massive sloths around that should ABSOLUTELY be massive compared to a scavenger.

Also the funny part about that pic I showed you? Yeah well scrap that cuz that’s also pretty inaccurate. We were to believe in the VERY EARLY books that scavengers are like hamsters to dragons. Literally the size of their right toe. Also also the fact that Smolder is like 50 years old AND also also also the fact that dragons keep growing as they age, then that just tells us that these scavenger are way, WAY bigger to these dragons. Especially if Flower here is the size of his FOREARM!

“Oh, but the islands are more suited for dragons! Of course everything will be big!” You cry out! Yet it is implied that scavengers were the dominant race BEFORE The Scorching, and even if that was a whole lotta years ago, then that must’ve been the FASTEST evolution process in the south coast yet.

And it STILL gets worse! Scavengers, even after being concluded to be the size of hamsters to dragons, Tui is constantly and very much maliciously switching the sizes of these scavengers to fit the plot because she has never figured out what she ever wants. Winter keeps Bandit in what’s implied to be some.. hamster cage? Okay, so he must be pretty damn tiny, which makes some amount of sense considering he’s probably a… teenager… I mean, okay, sure, whatever, I’ll let it slide- wait! But so is Winter! Winter is bigger than Qibli, sure, but neither of them are any bigger than other fully grown dragons! Winter is a teenage dragonet! So how small is Bandit?? How small is he compared to a- and let me emphasize- a FULL GROWN DRAGON!!!?? What!!!

And by the way, have you SEEN the actual cover of Dragonslayer??? Look at that and TELL me how completely unrealistic it is if we are to believe scavengers are the size of a dragon’s forearm

Also also also ALSO in book 14 Daffodil is shown tossing and catching Bumblebee who had just hatched and this is just unnatural and biologically confusing to think about. HOW is Daffodil bigger than a newborn dragonet? And this makes even LESS SENSE when you realize that it’s been implied that a newborn dragonet is the same size as a regular sized scavenger ACCORDING to the fact that it’s really easy to pick up a baby dragonet by the hand COMPARED to the size of Flower to Smolder’s hand in the picture??? HOW? Tell me how, Tui!! How is this possible!! And don’t you dare tell me that “oh! Pantalan dragons are smaller than Pyrian!” Because that is just ludicrous to me. I will LAUGH at you if you tell me otherwise because that is just a cheap way to excuse any of this. There has NEVER been any quote of Luna or any other Silkwing, Hivewing, or Leafwing being significantly shorter than a Pyrian dragon. 

I should really cut to the chase but I’ve… never liked Tui’s writing. I don’t like that she avoids criticism of her writing. She has great ideas and is so creative in the world of WOF but for most works she’s either rushing it or coming up with something on the spot. And neither are good if they’re not thought out well enough! All of the endings to the arcs are bad and poorly thought out. The logic in how specific stuff works is just terrible. Arc 3 is just a NOTHING arc full of NOTHING characters (except maybe Snowfall and some of the Leafwings they’re… fine). I’m sorry but as much as I “pretend” to like WOF, and I REALLY mean it when I say “pretend”, but this book makes me get an aneurysm the more I really look deep into it. I am beyond terrified of looking into the guidebook because I KNOW there will be inaccuracies, confusion, and Tui slamming down whatever ideas she has without a second thought. I already know she put the weird and unnecessary mudwing mating rituals!!

I don't like that almost every protagonist has a relationship with someone in another tribe. In one of the first books (TBN?) Tui mentions that "it isn't very common." So why does almost every one of your protags have a crush on somebody else??

I get that the DoD didn't have very much time in their own tribes, but I think it would have been a bit better if maybe someone like Moon could find a Nightwing at school (even though she's literally 4 and probably should live her life a bit) and idk, they could at least be friends from the same tribe. Winter could've had a thing with Lynx, so there could've been a same-tribe relationship. Turtle is fine being single, but I never really thought he and Kinkajou were a pair.

And, in all 6 years of Blue's life, he never found a single SilkWing that he was at all attracted to? But the first hivewing he saw, he fell horns over tail for?

In all, out of 15 main books, only 4 of the protags have confirmed partners from their tribe (granted, a few of them are single but still)

ALSO: this isn't me hating on the ships, I love them. But I just think it would have been nice if there were a few more same-same ships.

Then we could learn what life in a normal tribe is like. Most likely, their partners wouldn't be the ones saving the world, so they have some normal experiences. We could learn stuff about other tribes.

Something I find very hilarious about the Wings of Fire fandom is the hesitance to reuse names for OCs that exist with canon characters when the books themselves have used names multiple times.

Clay's sister, Crane. Also Queen Crane from Darkstalker's time.

Queen Pearl, Snail, and Queen Lagoon from Darktalker's time, and Pearl, Snail, and Lagoon from The Lost Heir.

There is a Rainwing and a Mudwing both with the name Bullfrog.

Six-Claws named his daughter after his mother.

There's an Eagle from Darkstalker's time and an Eagle in Winter Turning for the Skywings.

The Rainwings are likely to have multiple dragons of the same name bc they cycle through a list.

There are 3 known Monarchs within the Silkwing tribe throughout the years.

The Hivewings had a Queen Cicada before the present day's Lady Cicada.

Clearsight had a dragonet named Tortiseshell and then one of her descendants got the same name.

The Nightwings aren't too ashamed of having similar names ie: Mindreader/Mindhealer, Morrowseer/Morrowwatcher, Quickdeath/Quickstrike.

The Guide to the Dragon World literally shows us there is an entire Icewing village that names all their dragonets Snowstorm or Caribou.

This isn't an insult, I'm just making fun of the people who fear having WoF OCs having the same names as canon characters. I'm making an AU where three family members have "Snow" as the first part of their names. I think we're all gonna be fine.

I’m undiagnosed AuDHD (Autism + ADHD), ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), APD (Auditory Processing Disorder), SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), and Pure O OCD (“Purely Obsessional” Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), medically recognized (but undiagnosed) PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder), and diagnosed MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder).

I’m also undiagnosed BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder), Trichotillomania (hair pulling/picking disorder), Excoriation Disorder (skin picking disorder), and Misophonia.

I’m undiagnosed PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and/or PME (Premenstrual Exacerbation), and hopefully soon can be diagnosed.

Questioning POTS, HSD or EDS/hEDS. (NOT claiming to have this or self-diagnosed as of yet, I am still doing research, but I do have lots of signs that point to these things.)

My special interests are Wings Of Fire, Harry Potter, Dragons in general, and Neurodivergency.

I have no current hyperfixations that I’ve noticed, and I’m extremely low on dopamine because of it. /silly /srs

I have verbal shutdowns, shutdowns and meltdowns in general, I mask without realizing it a lot, and I’m usually in burnout. I also have severe imposter syndrome that I deal with literally 24/7.

All of my Nonhumanity is due to a combination of Past Lives, Fate, and Neurodivergency. I believe I was all my ‘types in past lives, and only found out about it in this life due to my neurodivergency.

I’ve been awakened for only a few months now. I want gear, but I don’t have any right now. I’m making my own wings currently, and I hope to have them done soon if my ADHD brain will allow me.

I’m a Reality Shifter, which means I move my consciousness from one reality into another one.

I do believe in the multiverse.

I’ve known about reality shifting since around 2020 or 2021, and started my journey then.

I spent a lot of my time trying to shift, even though I didn’t have the proper mindset or knowledge to shift.

I took a huge break after trying for only a month or so, only trying to shift occasionally.

I’ve come back to it in 2024 after finding shiftblr, having more knowledge, a better mindset, and more motivation.

I’ve shifted once to a parallel reality, where I relived/redid a day.

I have way too many DRs to count, and I’m thinking about permashifting to my Better CR DR.

do you ever get like, ridiculously depressed that you’re not a part of your fantasy world? Like, for example, I have just finished reading the three Wings of Fire arcs (best books ever istg) and I am so sad. It’s actually stupid how depressed I am. I’m sad because I’ll never be in the wof world, I’ll never be able to meet these dragons or go to Pyrrhia or be a dragon, and this is literally the worst thing in the world to me. I won’t live in a world full of magic and open skies and adventure and cute lil Rainwings. I’ll never have a conversation with these dragons whose heads I’ve spent so much time in, and with who I have a genuine emotional connection and attachment with. I’ll never feel the wind on my wings, or visit all the kingdoms and sleep in a Silkwing hammock. It sounds so dumb, I know. I’m also sad because it’s over, and I will not be able to read any interactions between these dragons again. I love the adventure, don’t get me wrong, but my favourite parts of WoF are the little conversations or moments that we see between the characters. It could be Glory and Tsunami making sarcastic comments, Qibli teasing Winter, or that one memory between Pineapple and Jambu, and I will linger and obsess over these moments WAY more than I would over major plot points. They give the character life, and personality, and I could re-read them over and over again. And now that I’ve read all the main books, I am so desperately sad that I’ll never get more of those moments, apart from really short fan-made things. I’ll probably never get any more canon domestic moments between characters like Pineapple and Jambu, or Willow and Sundew, or Fatespeaker and Starflight. I’ll never be able to read and laugh at the interactions between the Prophecy Dragonets or the Jade Mountain dragonets. I wish authors would add more little domestic moments in their books, although I understand why they don’t, because of course most books need a problem to overcome so that it’ll be interesting to readers. But oh my god, if I just had one book full of just everyday things between all the WoF dragons, I would read it over and over and over. Sundew and Willow introducing themselves to their partners parents, Tsunami visiting Glory in her rainforest because she missed her and trying to play it off like the visit was nothing, Turtle spending more time with Queen Coral. I would just *slurp* these stories up. And it makes me feel devastated that I won’t get any stories like these anymore. The more I think about it, the sadder I get. I’ll never be in this beautiful, wholesome universe, and I’ll never see any more conversations/interactions between these dragons I love so much. It hurts like hell knowing this, even though I know that this is life, I know that. I know I’m being stupidly childish, letting this actually upset me, but I can’t help it. I’d just rather have that life so, so much more than this one. And knowing I’ll never have it, no matter what happens, really makes me wanna cry.
