#shes cool as fuck to me bc when I first played jfa I found her really frustrating to deal with #not just as Phoenix but I mean like on a personal level she is challenging because she’s so thorough #and yet I also find it fascinating that she breaks the character she’s built for herself once in a while #i 100% believe that I don’t think she would have caught on to what Phoenix was trying to do while stalling for time with engardes trial #so it’s probably a good thing edgeworth subbed in but she literally busts her ass to bring evidence to court #almost right after having a bullet extracted from her WHICH SHE ALSO PRESENTS AS EVIDENCE. thats metal as fuck ok #especially since she would technically have nothing to do with the case after edgeworth fills in and she still decided to do that anyway #maybe it was blind faith to use that evidence to win since she wasn’t there for most of the trial but still #and even if canon doesn’t give it to me I still firmly believe there’s be at least some chemistry between her and Maya #like especially if you hold it next to wrightworth that works bc there’s already a history there and majority of Phoenix and miles trying #to relearn their relationship is Phoenix coaxing out that side of Miles that he remembers from fourth grade #but with Franmaya it’s something new and they’re basically strangers to each other and one of them almost got the other convicted #and I still think that’s fascinating and it’s a damn shame thay half of the fics I find for them on ao3 is background in wrightworth fic #i did find a good one that touched on Franziska trying to win pearls approval because Pearl does hold a grudge against her #and seeing that trying to live up to perfecting even her personal relationships without getting to know Pearl to even know #why it wasn’t working feels believable when I think abt her as a character yk #myart #my art #doodles #aa #ace attorney #franziska von karma

people talking about edgeworth helping phoenix during his seven year stint and supporting him through his depression as if we all don't know that the only person from that family who'd be able to get phoenix to do shit is franziska. smh.

#she'd barge into his home and be like 'phoenix wright get the fuck up'#scribbles in the margins #this post is pretty much all a joke but also not really. i do think edgeworth is too awkward to really help emotionally while franziska is #just. immune. he could get properly angry and she'd just pull out the condescension card until his spite won over and made him do shit #i also say from this family because i know maya could get him out of it. it'd take longer because for all their banter she is actually #quite gentle with him when it comes to serious things like this like in jfa. i do think she feels the age difference between them sometimes #but franziska would barrel through unperturbed and that's what you need sometimes.#also dont think that phoenix really did need much help since he's so 'work now feel later' but you know. if the depression slump is the #narrative we're going with.#him and franziska are just really important to me actually. i like their weird friendship so much

I truly respect interpretations of Franziska as the "older sibling" in the Von Karma Sibling Dynamic but, to me, she and Edgeworth are so painfully a younger sibling-older sibling duo that it hurts.

Franziska's biggest fear is being left behind. She wants to catch up to her brother and be seen as his equal but cannot because of her age- it's why she calls herself the older sibling. She copes by maintaining a careful facade of control. She's constantly compared to Miles by Manfred in a way that makes her feel inadequate. She feels like she's living in his shadow. Franziska believes that Edgeworth wants nothing to do with her and has moved on without her.

Edgeworth doesn't spell out his relationship with Franziska in canon the same way she does with him. Their relationship is hostile but most of that hostility comes from Franziska's side. Edgeworth seems to spend most of his time humoring her, much like an older sibling would. He'll roll his eyes and he'll sigh but he won't make a comment. He accepts her eccentricities. He seems to take the majority of Manfred's abuse, he idolizes and fears him, while Franziska only idolizes. For Edgeworth, the main source of angst in his relationship with Franziska is that he believes that she'd be better off without him because he sees the way Manfred used him to manipulate and hurt her.

It becomes even crazier when you think of the existence of the first, implied Von Karma child (the parent of Manfred's grandchild who owns Phoenix the dog), Franziska's older sibling. Did Franziska have an older sibling who abandoned her? Did they leave the house because of Manfred's abuses? Did Franziska meet a young, lost, and hurting Miles Edgeworth and decide that she was going to be a guide for him in the same way her sibling was briefly a guide for her? Did she declare herself the "older sibling" in order to protect him and then realize that, because of her age, she couldn't? Did she notice history repeating itself, Edgeworth leaving her behind? Is that why she's so hostile and extra-sensitive to rejection?

Franziska declares her the "older sibling" in order to try and gain some control over her relationship with Edgeworth- a safety net to ensure she won't be left behind. Edgeworth accepts the title of "little brother" because that's what Franziska wants and doesn't see the point of fighting with her. A young Franziska knocks on Edgeworth's door because she wants to spend time with him but he tells her to go away because he's studying. Peak siblings.

#or maybe this is all wrong and my sister and I just have an exceptionally abnormal relationship #I also feel like people forget that franziska was THREE when they met-#old enough to be influenced by the mythical 'older sibling' and to have a desire to be an older sister but too young to understand #what that means.#she did not teach him how to 'live in the von karma household' she was three. they learned together #ace attorney
