The tightness in your chest was finally waning. You took a deep breath—the easiest one you'd had in what seemed like hours.

It felt cold on the floor now. Or maybe it'd been like that since the moment you locked yourself in. But you were more aware of it, at least. You leaned back against the wall with a sigh, closing your puffy eyes. Though your hand trembled, you gently rapped your knuckles on the marble flooring.

A faint knock on the door to your right came in response.

[REDACTED] had been there the whole time while you cried. They never said a word, but always answered you in some form. I'm here.

Vulnerability was shameful according to the voice in your head. You were making gradual progress to get rid of that voice, to give yourself the grace you gave others to seek comfort when needed. And if he couldn't see you, letting it all out didn't feel so bad. All you needed was to know that they were close by.

You tried to speak and only managed to throw yourself into a coughing fit from how raw your throat was. Hunching over with your head on your knees, you could only wait until it was over. There were hurried footsteps from the other side of the door that you barely heard over the haggard sounds.

This time, they reached out first. It wasn't a knock like usual, but your phone vibrating atop the marble. You felt around on the floor until it was within your grasp. The simple message on screen turned clear as you gently wiped at your eyes, still blurry from earlier.

Despite your exhaustion, you laughed, then silently winced at the slight pain it caused. Any help or care he could offer was always within seconds when it came to you.

It took you a few measured breaths to gather yourself enough to unlock the door. Along with a thin line of light, a water bottle slid through the small gap, only the tips of his scarred fingers coming into view before they disappeared altogether. You opened the door a little wider and tilted your head to peek out at him.

His dark mess of hair greeted you, rather than his face. [REDACTED] was sitting on the floor, almost the same as you were minutes ago with his back to the wall, knees bent and arms crossed over them. They made sure to keep their head turned away. He knew you didn’t want anyone to see you like this.

You stretched out into the hallway to touch his shoulder. It was the only way you thought to offer some form of a thank you in the moment. Their muscles flexed and shifted under your fingers, but otherwise, they didn’t acknowledge you.

The room seemed stuffy now, so you kept the door open just a crack for a little fresh air. You scooted back to your place beside the door, then slowly drank the water in peaceful silence, the man that sat still as a statue within arms reach at the corner of your vision. Everything still ached in some way from the crying session. But it wasn’t as long as usual. You tapped on the floor and watched him.

Through the space no bigger than your pinky finger, you saw your partner immediately put one hand to the wall, and knock back.

It's deeply important to me that Loop kind of sucks

#they are literally awesome but they do kinda suck. just a tad #mostly as in i keep thinking about lucabyte's comics. they are critical to me #i love isat's postcanon as a space to explore recovery and communication #but sometimes you kind of have to drag urself through glass to get there. sometimes the glass sticks in ur skin and makes u prickly #i think constantly about like. loop being surprised by siffrin's kindness if u choose to be nice to them in certain dialogue options.#remarking about how time has made them jaded more than he is #loop is fundamentally kind. but they are scantly ever 'nice'#i think if loop joins the party it's inevitable that they are going to make each other bristle up #loop has a difficult time with all of the party members. between the guilt and the loss and them just not being capital s Siffrin #and to the party who only knows loop from one interaction and siffrin's apparent care for them i think loop would come off. abrasive at bes #like. like i dont think loop would act the same with the party that they do siffrin. their mask is very Piss Siffrin Off specialized #but how much of ur persona is an act and how much of it is yourself. or whatever. loop wouldn't want to be mean to their friends sure #but it's much easier not to hurt if you wedge some distance. no better way to get that distance by being offputting. i think isabeau esp #would get the brunt of this. poor man #plus there's just hte general fact that like. nobody likes the feeling of talking to somebody who clearly knows too much about them. who #will never show their own cards. added with the fact that there's just an inherent strangeness w loop. where they have a relationship to #siffrin thru the loops that none of the party members will ever grasp (and in a way they cant even guess frankly!)#i just have a hard time seeing loop's assimilation into the party as going smooth and nice. you know. i think the party members would think #that loop kinda sucks a little. i think loop would let them think this. all of this being said this is not irreconcilable or permanent #but i like there to be growing pains for the party's expansion. i won't even get into nille bc this aint abt her but yah #the lucky thing loop is you made friends with a lot of really nice people who would being willing to get to know you again.#isat spoilers

#like me and my friend are cowriting a theather play (a different one of what i had previus posted about) and we just wrote a scene about a #father and a daughter who are lowkey fighting while in a restaurant and every dialogue (about what are they gonna order) is an allegory to #both their internal conflict and conflict with eachother #and it shows that with a conversation about food #and then the waiter comes in and says somethinf about one of the food who is foreshadowing the resolution of the conflict #simplified context: daughter wants to move on father cant let go. he shows that by ordering food for her daugther. what she used to always #order when she was a kid but the waiter says they are missing an ingrident so they cant make the dish #and well the scene is more complex than that and the whole thing is explained subtetly by talking about the different options and idk #this is the second scene out of +10 #how are we gonna keep the same level of writing (or improve it)?#tho i never had so much fun writing it was so amazing im so happy #writeblr #writer #writing #screenwriting #writers on tumblr #writers community #on writing #theather #theatre #co writing

This one specifically I can never get over just. The atmosphere is so. It's the tenderness of it all. The way Eichi holds him the way Wataru is fully trusting Eichi to not lose him and keep him steady the way Eichi Looks at him the way they are fully in their own little world right now the way they are just having fun before the big show just. The tenderness and strangely intimate warmness of it all gets to me.

unsure how to word this but there is something about having ocs with unsavory events happening in their past where it's like. talking about it, even when asked, seems almost gratuitous and inappropriate. and i'd much rather describe it through the oc themself and/or draw Them saying it. which is like. fitting for the subject matter? like of course its weird to talk about somebody else's business...!

and falls back into humanizing em/exploratory writing and development where u consider the impact of words said/words unsaid/HOW those words are said etc etc

#because not all real persons would give u every detail of their trauma obviously #which makes sense but im an overexplainer but also it feels inappropriate to overexplain when it comes to dis #i hope that makes sense #talkys #i once described what went down with al as just directly as possible and it still felt weird. ykwim?? idk why.#well i do know why! i dont want it to seem gratuitous or like That Cheap Writing Element. fine line #same with talon so he'll just keep implying it thru text + dialogue which is how it should be !#the only difference is i think with al i wrote it like he would've said it bc he has more access to that side of himself #and is aware of how it affected him #whereas characterwise talon absolutely would just speak in riddles about and around it #i don't even think he's conscious about the direct effects of it #(but i wouldnt know bc he hasn't made that known to me in my brain)#people respond differently to different things and all that #also im so sorry if half the shit ive said recently is so like. Big fan of pet names, and subsequently thinking about which pet names Stede and Ed would use with each other. I’m of course a huge fan of Stede using “darling” and “sweetheart” for Ed, and Ed using “love” for Stede.

But one I’ve also been thinking about a lot is Ed using “baby/babe” for Stede. “Baby” could carry negative connotations, what with Stede having to endure so many years of “Baby Bonnet.”
