lot of people smarter than me have phrased the nuances around this whole situation better than i could, but sometimes i feel like stuff like this kind of speaks for itself

why does every article reporting on idf war crimes go "hamas, who started the war on october 7th with their brutal terrorist attack slaughtering innocent israeli civilians, has condemned the idf's use of-"? like, nearly verbatim every single time. we know about october 7th. we know by now. half the time, hamas isnt even relevant but they gotta find some way to sow doubt and numb any potential compassion responses. will you get fired if you show sympathy for murdered palestinian civilians without first adding a disclaimer saying its all their fault for being born in gaza? if you call "palestinians under 18" children? if you use the words "murdered" or "brutal" or "massacre" for acts that didnt occur on october 7th? if you call a spade a spade? why are israeli reports front page news without proper fact-checking but palestinian reporting is always "allegedly" even when theres video evidence? why does the idf not get the hamas treatment of reminding everyone that theyre biased before treating their words as law, like they havent been caught bold-faced lying again and again?

i hate how much english is, like, permeating the danish language. probably all languages. but man, no one speaks proper danish anymore. journalists don't, many writers don't. i don't – i try my hardest to, but often i don't know if something is proper danish or if im directly translating from english and using expressions that aren't actually correct. i suppose it's hard to avoid when we engage so much with the english language, but i find it devastating. danish is beautiful and having different cultures is beautiful. i wish people would make more of an effort, especially journalists and writers who influence the rest of the people. try not to contribute too much to the homogenisation of language and cultures. we have to resist while we can

I do think we need to be critical of the media we consume but I also feel like a lot of people tend to just. Parrot opinions and sentiments from other people. Or base their entire outlook on a single out of context clip of a show. I think people rarely watch something a substantial enough amount to formulate their own opinion.
And this goes for problematic media like adult cartoons AND things that are considered just low tier, like the Disney live action remakes.
I think a lot of it is the popularity effect. Just like kids in high school who want to be popular we formulate opinions online based on what everyone else is doing. If that makes sense. And in the terms of popular problematic media we tend to downplay enjoyment or engagement with it for the sake of staying within lines of what people deem acceptable and remaining "uncancellable". I don't know man.

If you’re a progressive living in a blue state and you see a minority in the southern US lamenting their situation, if you respond to them with “well you guys voted for it” you sound exactly as callous and cruel as the republicans who enacted this legislation against us. And you aren’t actually progressive.

t swift making feminism part of her brand and always leaning on the "you would never say this if i were a man" line of white women feminism while simultaneously doing everything in her power to block any pop girl from passing her on the charts to get the number one spot is soooooooooooooo
"theres a special place in hell for women who dont help other women" unless the woman is trying to maintain her number one chart position and then she can do whatever she wants and screw over those less successful girls i guess

mmm. havent looked into it very far but i think we gotta cool it with the jokes about rfks brain worm. like i get your impulses there but it is ableist and im not joking about that.
his flaws that would make him a terrible president/person, are rooted somewhere besides the worm. the worm is incidental.

a pet peeve i have is when articles about video games have headlines like "this game is like [popular game] and [other popular game] combined !" like do you have any idea how little that tells me besides "we want clicks from fans of Those games"

the more i think about killer7's world the more i go "yeah actually my self insert being dead is a good thing" and that's a really sad thought to come to :(
I hate to say it but, even Dan thinks Ashleigh being dead is a good thing because at least she never got to see the world consumed by the terror that is heaven's smile.
And if the heaven's smile didn't get to her first, then well... *vague gesturing to the corrupt politics of killer7's world* then they would get to her because uh... *vague gesturing to Ashleigh's career as a journalist, who heavily idolizes whistleblowers* um. opportunistic contract killers would get to her first before any leaks got out :/

Zero Time Dilemma is NOT a horror game nor is it a deep and serious philosophical sci-fi. It is a dark comedy. If 999 is the original Scream, then ZTD is Scary Movie. It’s like those Tumblr posts that say, “imagine a story where *super interesting concept that would make for a godawful anticlimactic plot*” and everyone’s like “omg OP write the book”. Well Uchikoshi did it. And he put The Silly in there. And y’all hated him for it. Most people don’t realize this
FRRRRRRRR I literally categorize ztd in amongst the leagues of darkseed 2 and harvester in that they're really, really, really really trying. And they almost work. but ultimately they look too much like yogurt
