Before the killing game, I grew up living in a luxurious high-end apartment, but the world was flooded, so I could never leave! They actually had to airlift me out to put me in the killing game later, how scary is that? They must have wanted me reeeeeally bad, huh? Like rescuing a princess from her locked tower, just to put her in the dungeons!

The people against bows becoming a trendy fashion accessory has annoyed me sooo much lately. AHT!! lets talk! black people are not actually hyper-masculine. hyper-masculinity is a projection by people trying to justify anti-black fear and violence. it is not a true and then demonised observation about black existence. the hyperfocus on the masculinity of black people is itself racism!

when you call this issue of racism anti-masculinity or misandry or whatever, you are obfuscating the bigotry at play. ESPECIALLY given that it is overwhelmingly just white women's fear about black people's supposed hyper-masculinity that actually gets listened to & acted upon.

in addition, there are other addendums people tack onto their anti-blackness that completely cause this logic to fall apart when applied. Namely, adultification! black people, black children get adultified by white society.

We are assumed to be older & more independent, and thus less in need of the safety, care, sensitivity, accommodation one would give to a child, and this results in violence and neglect. it is directly observable in the way black children are more likely to get detention, suspended or expelled for the same behaviour as their white peers, s/a rates for black youth, and the arguments that 40 y/o cops give for brutalising & murdering black 20, 16, 12, 8 year olds who so much as breathe in their line of sight.

Given this then, following the misandry logic, we can say being recognised as older or as an adult is a form of oppression.

we can for the sake of this post name this oppression adultery.

i kid. but do you see the problem. being recognised as an adult is obviously, not itself a form of oppression, in fact quite the opposite, being recognised as adult can grant you a lot of privileges that children do not have.

and black kids are evidently, not adults or people who act like adults. they dont mature faster. black 18 y/os will also face the problem of adultification to justify violence against them. black maturity is not a true and then demonised observation about black existence. the form of oppression is racism, and adultification is the deployed means of enacting racism.

the means of combatting the adultification of black people would not come in creating adult positivity or "advocating" for adults or telling children not to fear adults. it comes in the form of learning about anti-blackness, unlearning anti-blackness, and actually directly combatting anti-blackness.

similarly the means of combatting the hyper-masculinisation of black people comes in the form of learning about anti-blackness, unlearning anti-blackness, and actually directly combatting anti-blackness.

Racism explains both of this phenomena far better than "misandry" ever could.

oc ask game- 3, 7, 16 ?

Thank you so much for the ask! I reblogged this ask game with my muses in mind, but I'm also throwing in my AU Kokichis, Wisp (WisteriaV3rse) and Pepper (HairsprayV3rse) as well, so let's give the wheel a spin to see who gets to answer. While they may not technically be OCs, they all can be pretty varied from one another.

Looks like this time we rolled Wisp!

3. How do they put themselves to bed at night?

Wisp has found himself with quite the predicament on his hands, in a killing game with no one to turn to, stuck lying compulsively to protect himself and aggravating his chronic hanahaki in the process. By the end of the day, he's exhausted and in pain, and stays up even later working on piecing together the information he's dug up from his investigations during the day. It's the early hours of the morning--2 or 3 am--when he finally collapses into bed. With everything going on, he likes to tuck pillows around himself and weave himself a lie like a bedtime story to lull himself to sleep--a lie that he's not trapped in a strange place, that he's back home with his family piled all around him, warm and safe and understood.

7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?

Checker patterned anything, card games, white lies and little fibs, pillow forts, hide and seek and tag--anything that reminds him of DICE. Wisp is a childish, nostalgic kind of guy and typically tries to keep his family with him through the killing game by clinging to whatever keeps them alive in his mind. It's not that he wants to think them dead, or that he was even taken from them all that long ago, but the separation between his life before the killing game and now makes any reminder of before feel nostalgic now. He's not entirely sure how he feels about that, but he clings to the feeling regardless.

16. What makes their stomach turn?

More than anything? Misunderstanding. The delicate balance between chronic hanahaki and compulsive lying is a dangerous one. Over the course of his life, Wisp has come very close to dying from his illness many times because of how reflexive his urge to lie to protect himself is. Things got a lot better when he formed DICE, a tight-knit family that took the time to understand and even turn lies into a secret code or language that they all knew well. Now, in the killing game, Wisp is stuck back at square one with a bunch of strangers who do not know or care for his language of lies. He can't speak anything else, and so they fail to understand him. His feelings and intentions don't get across, and the toxic plant embedded in his lungs grows rampant in the process. It's going to kill him from the inside out and he knows it. The worst part though is that even this will not be understood. They'll question why he wouldn't just be honest, put the blame on him for making that choice, when the fact of the matter is that he can't be honest. It wasn't his choice from the start. It's something he's had to live with since he was young, and it's such an abstract concept that they will never put those pieces together.

I love how mqf's oficial description is something like: a good heart who wants to help others but then you read the novel and his reaction to lqg trapping ten infected men who are crying in panic is "great now I can start to work in my experiments with decomposed people to find a cure" and gets out a lot of needles, which makes the man cry even harder.

Even if we only get bits of the other Cang Qiong sect leader's we can reach the conclusion that no one there is normal, sqq is just biased.
