20240710: the History of LEGO Castle day 192. 7189 Mill Village Raid (2011, 666 pieces, 169 different parts) Mill Village Raid is a farm scene, consisting of a reddish brown barn with dark bluish gray highlights with a brick-built tan roof on two bright light green 8x16 plates and a small dark tan, reddish brown, white, and light bluish gray windmill build on a dark bluish gray plate. The set includes a variety of farm animals, as well as a light bluish gray horse with dark bluish gray spots pulling a reddish brown wagon with reddish brown wagon wheels. The set has six minifigures. Mill Village Raid is a set that lives in infamy, as it introduced the LEGO community to The Goat. You can read about the story on Brick Fanatics. 🦁 Turns out that in the split second MK was in the pillar with Nuwa, the world had begun to reset. Starting with brining back those who had been lost.

🦁 Azure awoke, unsure how or why he was alive.

🦁 He no longer had the Jade Emperor’s power, nor his left arm.

🦁 He was scarred where the universe had torn him apart, his face and body marred with the beautiful galaxy like cracks.

🦁 He didn’t expect to immediately be apprehended by the Celestial Armies, especially not by the Pagoda Wielding General Li Jing.

👑 Li Jing had been sent to collect Azure Lion the minute his magic was sensed in the mortal realm. Not expecting to see the pathetic state the lion was in.

👑 Missing an arm, covered in scars, and refusing to even fight back. Azure willingly surrendered and pled guilty to his crimes.

👑 Normally, the punishment for the killing a celestial official, especially one as high as the Jade Emperor, was execution.

👑 But, the courts took pity on the lion, considering his self sacrifice as a factor in their decision.

👑 Instead, he would be placed in the care of the celestial armies to be rehabilitated.

👑 And just who took responsibility for him, but the same general who brought him in.

❤️ Azure and Li Jing surprisingly had a lot in common with each other. The older general was stern, but the lion could tell he had soft heart inside.

❤️ It didn’t take long for them to get close, and after a night of too much wine, closer ;3

❤️ So, Li Jing got an oversized house cat that always helps him out.

❤️ Azure also makes sure Li Jing doesn’t overwork himself like a cat demanding to be on their owner’s desk.

❤️ And when that doesn’t work he just picks him up lmao

❤️ His son on the other hand doesn’t seem to enjoy the new addition to their household.

❤️ Especially not when he finds the lion napping on his father’s lap, the older man refusing to move until he wakes up.

Update #3 on the saga of Kyle McCarley and his defense of Chris Niosi.

Today, on July 22, 2024, he made an announcement in his server to apologize for his previous actions and ignorance. Details below, as usual.

First of all, the apology itself.

TLDR: He admits that due to his own lack of understanding of sexual coercion/abuse, he did not realize just how much worse Niosi's behavior was than he initially thought. More importantly, he also apologizes for inserting himself into the situation as a character witness and accepting Niosi's apologies on behalf of other people. While he's going to take a break from the internet, if he returns to Twitter he'll delete his previous statements and recuse himself from the conversation.

At the very least, this is a start. Rather than further doubling down, he's admitted to his mistakes, perhaps similarly to Alejandro Saab. Ideally, he'll learn from this huge blunder and think more critically the next time someone he knows is accused of abuse or assault or anything of the sort.

Whether you can believe him, though, that's up to you. (Personally my disappointment with how he handled it prior kind of sours this for me, and I'm still wondering how it took so long for him to realize that the internet wasn't actually making up the whole thing about him being a serial abuser because first-hand accounts were really not hard to come by. Generally an attitude that still bugs me, despite my relief that he hasn't pulled an Adin Rudd and quadrupled down on it.)

Speaking of first-hand accounts, people who aren't fans of his will likely have more issues with this than those in his fan-server; Look no further than Tara, who is still angry with him, as well as the people she's discussed this with. Here's what she has to say in light of his apology:

As mentioned in the screenshots, because this apology is in a Discord server none of Niosi's victims are in, they haven't gotten a direct apology from Kyle for his own actions yet. (Plus, considering he didn't talk to any of them when he was talking big about not seeing why people called Niosi an abuser, to say they have a bad impression of him is an understatement.) Still, until both parties are in a state to actually talk to each other, there's not going to be much headway.

(Final note before I go: I've also asked Tara if it'll help her to know what was included in the document, though I haven't gotten a response back yet. Maybe I'll edit this post when I do.)

So, I haven't had time to do pretty much anything the last two weeks, but thankfully yesterday a large chunk of my family was over so I had time to start on these guys. Chibis have never been my strength and these are far from done, but I found some good references and I wanted to try some and figured why not do it with the batsibs?

I need to fix Jason big time and Damian and Dick's hair isn't my favorite, but I'll try tweaking them, but Duke was hard to find any reference for that didn't just give him a buzzcut and Damian's type of hair has always been a nightmare for me. As for Tim, just ignore that abomination, only thing I could say that I enjoyed was I couldn't find a good skin tone for him that was pale enough so I paint bucketed him with low opacity white paint fill and couldn't stop chuckling cause I painted him like a drag queen.
