A term I heard a while back is “masculine, but in a peacock way.”

To show what I mean:

The male is on the left. So the male is the more flamboyant and colorful one.

When I hear masculine in a peacock way, I immediately think of Wukong.

His eyelashes, his obsession with bows, the way he cross dresses at every opportunity, he’s so masculine in a peacock way.

Also I’m like 80% sure his outfit is a reference to peacocks.

You see what I mean right? A better example is when he’s moving, but his little skirt cover thing reminds me so much of peacock feathers.

The seasons change, ice melts, flowers grow; but what never leaves is guilt- the lack thereof or the scars it leaves.

The Moon rises, but as it reaches its zenith- it turns red with Earth's shadows. It's still there, of course. Despite the illusions of fire from a lunar eclipse, it remains sublimely cold beyond comprehension.

As the tapestry of life and death is woven, there are still many unstrung strands of threads hanging off the loom.

Not The Ghost is a vibey, mental health project centered around some silly little characters I'm fond of. The visuals and writing are entirely experimental, as I've never made a comic before. So the comic itself is going to be formatted with flower names for accessibility, along with a breakdown of symbolism If necessary.

This is meant to be more poetic than anything, and I'm happy to announce that there will be tons, and tons of floriography/ the language of flowers. Which, is my favourite thing ever. (and the comic shares the name with a song by my favourite band, The Crane Wives :3)

Be warned that Not The Ghost contains themes of death, dissociation, violence and others.

Note; Macaque holds the flowers-

Bittersweet Nightshade (the star-shaped purple flowers)

Belladonna (the black berries).

Coltsfoot (bloodstained/ bright yellow flowers between his fingers)

Rue (the dainty yellow ones with green centers)

In his chest- between his ribs, are-

Ipomea (white/purplish flowers + large, dark leaves)

Laurestine (orange and white dots)

The almost bird-like flowers are the White Egret Orchid.

The two, tall, white stalks beside him are Asphodels.
