Yeah it's fascinating how shadowpeach needs to be written both well to truly make shadowpeach work
If you emphasize too much on one you may risk tipping the ship towards one hand or the other
But at the same time people tend to give the "right" to either of them about their super messy issue
Which the serie doesn't help
Sorry to move it here but I was thinking you would like more organized space to answer me
Oh, no problem at all!
That's the thing, neither of them were in the right at any point in time in their relationship.
Similar to what I said on my post regarding Lionpeach, I don't agree with what Macaque said to Wukong during the argument scene- despite the set up of Wukong not listening to him. I do think as well that misinterpretations of that scene aren't just a lack of nuance;
As, I've noticed that even the writers aren't consistent with their relationship! The series really, really loves takings sides with their relationship.
I feel like the show struggled HEAVILY with trying to get you to side with Macaque at first, then doing a full 180 with season 4. Macaque's character was very butchered this season, and it felt so half-assed to just have him "think about their relationship" off screen;
"that's what I believed, what Azure would have you believe."
I mean, despite how big of a Wukong apologist i am, the show just ignores really any conflict between these too. Only giving the blame to Azure.
I personally feel as if this season- ESPECIALLY this episode would've benefitted from having Macaque feel like himself; if he wasn't mischaracterized this season, this scene would feel a little bit more earned.
But i'd like to hear your thoughts about it as well, as I unfortunately have been so stuck in the Shadowpeach rabbit hole that their relationship is all I think about- I fresh opinion would nice hah!

Mmmm personally I think S4 macaque was so meh exactly because of the audience misinterpreting their relationship
Because when macaque tells mk that "there is NO good or bad choice because life ain't a videogame and shit can be fucked" I could only see the authors trying to tell the audience "stop saying one of them is entirely in the wrong! They both are! Wukong made bad choices but he is a nice person now! But good people can make mistakes."
I personally don't see the whole "shifting it on azure" for their souring relationship, honestly as another post put it really well
The issue of shadowpeach is not betrayal (like macaque skewed relationship says) but this one post (if I find it I'll link it here) says it right
"wukong tended to ignore macaque and macaque let him"
The issue is that their relationship was full of small missteps that slowly became bigger until they transformed into the mess of the argument under the mountain
(sorry I am devolving in chatting about shadowpeach ignoring how fans are doing but like AAHHH the brainrot is so strong)
Also side note, i think the brotherhood situation went as bad as it did
Because azure just kinda put wukong in a position to make Mac feel like he was RIGHT at putting wukong on a pedestal
While I think wukong didn't really understand the ramifications of those praises,
My man though he was making friends and didn't realize they were making him their messiah /j
Obviously then when he lost, azure I think didn't consciously dropkicked wukong
I think he gassed himself so hard about Wukong too that his mind could only go
"wukong is unbeatable, wukong has lost, wukong cannot lose, wukong choose to lose, wukong betrayed us"
I think it's so fun that the show plays a LOT about people skewed memories to the point of disproving things other characters said through a scene of the past instead of a character narrating it again!
This obviously evolved in some fans believing these skewed perceptions as truth sadly
