I heard that Illumination is making a Zelda movie. I donā€™t know if itā€™s true or not (I hope not tbh), but if it is, I think they should cast Chris Pratt as Link. And Zelda. And Mipha. And Sidon. He shouldnā€™t change his voice, tone, or inflection for each character. Just his normal voice for everyone. BUT! He will change his outfit between characters! Heā€™ll wear a gown as Zelda, tunic as Link, etc.
I donā€™t know how that would work, since we canā€™t see him, but I think if he wears the costumes well enough, weā€™ll be able to tell whoā€™s who in his voice acting.

Game Night: CHAIN ATTACK!!!
i am,,, withering away but ITS DONE ITS DONE IM FREE FROM THE CURSE (<<< still haunted by wips) clocking in at 32+ hours, this sucker has been getting pushed around for 10 months-
while theres some things i would have done differently if i could redo this from scratch, i still had a BLAST cramming in as much detail as i could tolerate >:) some highlights / cut ideas / ramblings are below the cut, but please zoom for details! (if tumblr doesnt shred it to bits)
gonna be real i locked so hard onto drawing ripped jeans that i forgot i could have just shoved legend into a skirt and called it a day
SOCKS. SOCKS. the amount of Joy anytime i figured out how to personalize them with game references: legend (hibiscus), twilight (ordon goats), and four (force gems)
i WAS going to put time in a turtleneck, but had an epiphany and started digging for the most obnoxious hawaiian shirts i could find,,, ft. a sea flower (wind waker) and a saturation boosted plumm (twilight princess)!
yeah so warriors got the sweater instead of the skintight shirt, sorry gang
speaking of if i ever say im going to draw a cableknit sweater again, somebody PLEASE shake some sense into me- warriors sweater was a NIGHTMARE since my art program has an astonishing lack of good brushes (and yet here i am still using it)
MOST of the text has been modified using the twilight princess cipher because yeah. i was procrastinating shading. also the other ciphers were in japanese- times shirt is cropped, but reads "its 5 oclock somewhere"
winds lobster shirt :) that is all i just think its neat
wilds jacket :) link w(ild) 2017, aka the release year of botw
jewelry! sky has the fireshield earrings, and wild has the amber earrings~ could barely squeeze the bombos and quake medallions onto legend, and wind got the joy pendant
hyrule :D embroidery on his sweatpants because i was struck by whimsy- also i 100% thought his shield was purple tinted for weeks while drawing this because the page i used as reference was set at night, and i was originally basing his sweater on his shield- scrapped the cross pattern after several failed attempts but kept the color ^^
the chips are bbq because im biased (reads "crisps" in twilight princess cipher for no real reason except whimsy)
bless my dearest homie for game reccs because the og plan was to have them all be loz games! titles include wii sports resort, elebits, super mario party, smash bros ultimate, just dance 2016 (its box art is colorful ok), and myth makers orbs of doom (I HATE THIS GAME WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING, as i should, anyways i should play it again). four is suggesting orbs of doom, buddy aint even playing,,,
kinda was hoping to play around with hair colors and skin tones a bit more, but again, see the hour count- ill get em next time surely,,, also blue vs violet eyes for legend already had me in decision paralysis
the whole gang was gonna have friendship bracelets with color combos based on dynamics i found neat but oops! didnt finish the layer :')
thats a wrap! didnt yap about everything but im curious what yall catch onto- anyways surely ive learned something about biting off more than i can chew (<<< lying liar who lies)

Ok no more dungeon posting after this I promise but you know what I found out yesterday?? That the fairy spell lets you go through locked doors without a key in AoL??? Like what?? I am so mad I just found out about this. I'm a fraud :'(((( A phony even.
This is a rif on the Mario says/Luigi says meme. The colors line up really well! Have you ever bore witness to an Alttp fan talking about dungeons? Or just Alttp in general? Because that is exactly the attitude I headcanon Legend with. It is my second most beloved headcanon for him.
Also I ask myself WHYYYY did I decide to go with colored lines when the background is the color of their shirts??? Sometimes I don't make the best choices. Also I hate drawing with colored lines. Its so hard :(( The people who do it as part of their regular style scare me.
Hyrule's face looks so goofy haha

In September 1998, 2 months before the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a Zelda news site called Zelda Headquarters posted newly revealed facts about the game based on what they claimed to be inside sources.
One particular source claims that the game states that Talon, the owner of Lon Lon Ranch whose character is a reference to Mario, hates turtles and loves mushrooms. This is then speculated to hint at some greater purpose in the game, such as being part of a puzzle or a side quest, suggesting that the inside source actually saw that text in-game.
However, in the finished version of the game, Talon never mentions turtles or mushrooms, meaning that if that text was ever in the game, it was removed shortly before release. The only overt Mario reference about Talon other than his appearance is his Bowser-shaped brooch.

Some video games I think the Rat Grinders would like:
Kipperlilly - I think she'd like puzzle games like Baba is You or Patrick's Parabox, because shes likes the sense of accomplishment she feels when she solves a level. Mary Ann got her into Stardew Valley and she is completely incapable of being chill about it, she's optimized EVERY FACET of production to maximize profits.
Ruben - He's been playing the same Minecraft world since he was 12. I think he also plays a lot of Nintendo games, Mario, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, and he and Lucy would meet up after school sometimes to play Mario Kart.
Oisin - Strategy games like Civilization 5 and Stellaris. He plays against Kipperlilly sometimes, and games can get pretty close. BOTH are sore losers though. I also think he plays a lot of Factorio and spends a lot of time optimizing his factory.
Mary Ann - We know from the Adventuring Party Mary Ann likes games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, but I think she'd also get a kick out of fighting games like Smash Bros. Anytime she beats someone bad at the game (like Buddy) she tells them to "git gud". She hates horror games, not because they're scary but because they're boring, and nothing fazes her.
Ivy - Says that she doesn't play video games, but is really into open world RPGs like Elden Ring, the Witcher 3, and Skyrim. Especially for games like Skyrim, she likes to spend hours in character creation and coming up with a backstory for her character before ultimately playing a stealth archer.
Buddy - Buddy's been discouraged from playing video games his whole life, because you are "motivated to sin if you spend large blocks of time doing things that matter very little". He only plays mobile games, and he's AMAZING at Candy Crush. I think he'd get a kick out of horror games though, as a sort of fascination with the profane.
Lucy - A big fan of story-based, atmospheric games like Firewatch or What Remains of Edith Finch. She also mainly likes cooperative games, and so many games with co-op campaigns she's played through with Kipperlilly.

Name: Scarecrow
Debut: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
We are in the midst of September, and that is Scarecrow Season! This is the time of year where the scarecrows start to become self-aware! If you want to befriend a scarecrow, now is the time to enter your local cornfields and strike up a conversation about Grains! Of course, there is a limited time frame to do this. In October, the scarecrows will begin to believe everything the crows have been whispering to them, and decide to jump down from their posts and chase farmers with a scythe. I love autumn!
The dashing red-clothed scarecrow heading this post isn't just any effigy. In fact, you know him! You know him very well.
Tumblr media
Does this fellow look familiar to you? This is Super Mario, from Super Mario Games on The Nintendo. What's he doing being a scarecrow? It's not his fault! It was a weird dog thing!
Tumblr media
This is Belome, the weird dog thing, and he has some tricks up his metaphorical sleeve, my favorite of which is the ability to turn anyone into a scarecrow. He does this using a spell called S'crow Funk, a name I adore because it sounds like the COOL way of referring to scarecrows. The hip young farmers don't have time for any extraneous syllables! They see a scarecrow and say something like "Check out that s'crow, Tom!" But ol' Farmer Tom doesn't like the name shortening, because he loves scaring crows, more than he loves protecting his crops. He hates crows so much. I don't like that about him.
S'crow Funk is a real deal magic spell, with a rhyming incantation! It goes like this:
Stick for a body Head full of straw Give me a scarecrow, rah rah RAH!
Due to the "funk" in the name, I must assume this rhyme is accompanied by a funky beat. You can try invoking this yourself, but before you do, be courteous. Make sure your victim is okay with being made unable to attack normally, and only able to use magic attacks. Unless you're evil, in which case you will probably do it anyway. But I hope you're not evil. That would be Problematic!
Tumblr media
Name: Scarecrow
Debut: Super Mario Odyssey
Look! Another scarecrow! I'm really sorry if any crows are reading this post. But THIS scarecrow is fresh and 3D! And this one is not Mario.
Tumblr media
No, still not Mario, even with his hat! If Mario throws Cappy onto a scarecrow, Cappy will stay on its head, and activate some sort of new platforming challenge. This is because if it weren't for the scarecrow, crows would eat all of the platforming challenges, and then there would be none for us to eat! Without scarecrows we would die!

Current/Future Projects
So I'm currently working on two BIG projects and one smaller one, but kinda wanted to hear people's opinions on what to prioritize after that!
The current projects are:
Moonbeasts, a bestiary for my game (as of now heard on Party of One the podcast!) The Moon Fucking Hates You (The monsters are all chosen it's just building the statblocks and then layout after that!)
SACRAMENT, a gothic horror-fantasy "meatpunk" game inspired by Fear & Hunger and Blasphemous with skill trees. It's a big game but its system is kinda gonna be the backbone of the majority of my projects from now on.
The smaller project is Hearts of Victory! Rally Racing League, which is exactly what it sounds like. I'm drawing from inspirations like MFZ: Firebrands, Speed Racer, Mario Kart, and the aesthetic of 90s rally racing video games.
Future projects are the following:
Hallowed Halls, the Loop Hero-inspired psychedelic fantasy ttrpg about mutating and dying over and over while trying to stop a villain that's kinda already won
NAILDRIVER, Be fae and kill the rich in a mashup of DOOM and Hotline Miami
Unleash the Horde, a love letter to one of my all-time favorite games, Goblin Commander
An unnamed mecha game fully inspired by the Orbment from Legend of Heroes/Trails series

How do you feel about turnbased RPGs? Games like Pokemon, the Mario RPGs, Final Fantasy, SMT etc?
I used to play YIIK-likes in the past but nowadays they donā€™t really appeal to me. Except the ā€œThe Legend of Heroesā€ franchise, AKA Trails/Kiseki franchise (Trails of Cold Steel, Zero no Kiseki, et al). Thatā€™s the only one I love and play.
I loved Final Fantasy all the way until X/10, donā€™t really care for the latter releases except 14.
If we can count them, the first two Paper Marios slapped.
SMT I have a love hate relationship with, I liked their vibe, I hate how grindy they were. Nocturneā€™s a great game I canā€™t recommend.
I like the concept of Pokemon a lot, the games themselves bore me. I played gen 1 and 4, and enjoyed them, but also donā€™t think they can offer any more with the formula.
Suikoden was fun!

And that's that for Echoes of Wisdom! A pleasant, charming game to be sure!
There's good and bad to be had, but it's certainly an unusual game. I'll definitely be going back over it to collect those Echoes I'm missing, which luckily for me, is a scant ten, per the post-game break down. One of which, humorously enough, is the damn carrot Echo used to summon your horse. I did not actually bother to do the Horse Ranch quest until just after my fifth (or sixth, depending on how you're counting) dungeon. Just going to drop a break here though, because I want to talk a bit more freely about this game.
So, there are a couple of Echoes I've discovered fairly trivialize most combat encounters. The Wolfos echo, any of the Darknut series echoes (the Level 3 variant I actually used basically as a blender throughout the entire last act, in the Still Ancient Ruins), and the Chompfin echo for water.
This game does a fair job of combining the "play it your way" mentality of the recent Wild era titles with the more strict flow of classic dungeons' puzzles. While you have considerably more options in this game, they will typically amount to being a variation on the same sorts of themes. Use fire to light torches- whether that comes from a Brazier, a Torch Slug or an Ignizol is entirely up to you, for example.
Let's talk about the key feature that honestly probably amounts to one of the biggest draws of the charming little game: DUNGEONS (and their BOSSES).
Let's see, there's three main dungeons, followed by Hyrule Castle, then three more dungeons (plus the endgame). Which means we follow the Ocarina of Time dungeon structure, which actually means we follow the A Link to the Past dungeon structure, which is appropriate, all things considered.
Each dungeon requires the traversal of a short Still World segment, which will bring PokƩmon Platinum fans immense joy, before pissing them off at the memory of the Distortion World's absence in BDSP, and Legends-Arceus. These segments are mostly platforming with little significant puzzle-solving. They are the reason the Old Bed echo appears at the front of my Most Used list. But the weird eldritch, distorted scenery is quite nice to appreciate. It really does a fine job of setting up the game's final boss too.
I'm a bit torn on if I have a favorite dungeon. I definitely have a least favorite, in the form of the Lanayru Temple. Oh sweet Demise, these ice puzzles pissed me off. I did, however, find that dungeon's boss (SCORCHILL) to be quite fun, so we've got serious points awarded. Eldin Temple is weirdly small, and kind of hallway-y, if you get my drift, but it has Volvagia which I absolutely refuse to complain about. Hated the Mogryph fight, though I expect that's because I made it significantly harder than it should have been. The Faron Temple is interesting in that it really tries to hide its linearity: the theme is Jungle Temple and it honestly captures that feeling pretty damn well: the miniboss is also immensely fun, at least in how it is presented to you, though it's not particularly challenging: Gohma is, well, Gohma, so I don't think we're winning any Boss points with it. Vocavor is a boss with an interesting design, but underwater fish bosses have never won any awards and they aren't starting to now (it did bring to mind a Bowser Junior fight in Mario Wonder, so there's that).
Huh.
Oh, right, Ganon. Eh, this is literally the exact same fight as in Link's Awakening and, if I remember correctly, A Link to the Past. Somehow, however, and I cannot for the like of me figure out how, Grezzo has completely thrown off the timing of this fight: for some reason, and I'm admitting this solely for opacity, the Dead Man's Volley sections are timed, and I literally cannot find a better word for it, wrong. Luckily, they are technically optional if you have the right Echo (which you will, as it's given to you in this very dungeon), but it brought me death and therefore annoyed me.
This game follows up with our recent (if you call Skyward Sword recent) trend of having a massive horde battle precede the final boss. Well, sort of a horde- Zelda's Echo casts Echoes of her own that should be a challenging horde, but alas! The Hylian Blender renders this fight significantly easier than any other.
I will have to look this up, bit did anyone on the dev team have any involvement with Kirby Star Allies? Everything related to Null reminds me of Void Termina, and I am struggling to believe this is simply a coincidence.
Speaking of Null, let's talk about Null!
This thing is one hundred and fifteen percent definitely my favorite thing this game presents us with. Null is an entity from the void, imprisoned within the world itself by the Goddesses of the Triforce (sorry, Prime Energy- this bothered ne immensely), imprisoned to prevent it from devouring all life that might appear within the void. A classic primordial horror, if I do say so, and if there's one thing I'm a sucker for, it's primordial entities who are world-bent on the annihilation of existence itself. When you see this thing's lair, Earthbound had better jump so far forward in your mind you are given extradimensional whiplash.
If I were a timeline fanatic, I imagine Null would screw it up so damn much.
So, where do I stand here. Where where where.
The ideas behind this game are quite odd, to say the least, and their execution is a bit short. I feel like if this map were larger, and if there were more Echoes and quests, I would have more thoughts on how it plays. I just finished the damn thing and I'm not quite sure how I feel about the actual experience of playing it, which is absurd, really.
This one does feel like a love letter to the franchise's highs and lows, a bite-sized sandbox just screaming "We love Zelda!"
