the immersion! if you reached to the very back of my memory there'd be like ten folk songs there and this one, which we used to have to sing at 7:00 in the morning on choir retreats while doing squats for all the weekdays, would definitely be there. it's a silly ditty you've heard somehow exclusively in childhood, it's a little game song for children. If all else was tainted by your later life that song would probably survive, it's perfect

Please elaborate on the "nene teaches tsukasa to sing in a way that doesn’t make me angry" because as much as I like Nene the way she teacher people to sing does indeed make me a little angry (that's on sega not on her probably-)

OHH I meant that I hate tsukasa’s singing voice and nene needs to help him before I start a petition to have colopale release daisuke hirose from the shackles of singing with a character voice. I’m not a singer & most of my knowledge of music/singing on the technical level comes from osmosis of knowledge from my sister who studied comp/vocal performance for years and at a higher level. And that essentially amounts to something something diaphragm sing from the stomach (? Or is it chest) round your vowels natural talent can only get you so far if you don’t refine it the voice is an instrument. Dont drink dairy. Etc.

I can’t really critique nene’s teaching methods (also don’t remember them well enough. Iirc rui does say nene’s teaching helped emu improve though) although I’m sure anything before canary can be explained by her not knowing what she was doing and being self taught. And she probably still doesn’t know what she’s doing which I expect nene5 to go into with the opera group they’re visiting.

some of you guys might know that I m from a family thats... a lot into music, and since I m visiting them for the holidays they definitely inspired some heartsteel headcanons xD

Yone, giving Aphelios a new instrument for Christmas and Phil playing it 24/7 until Kayn starts throwing paper balls at him, Ezreal is about to cry from overstimulation and K'Sante threatens to carry him outside if he wont stop </3

Aphelios and Ezreal forcing everyone to play Christmas songs together, Yone octaves down a part thats written in treble clef to play a song for two recorders (aphelios) and piano (ez) on the cello

Kayn just sitting in the corner and laughing his ass off (he can ofc not play piano when ez plays it already, and the guitar and bass just doesnt work for classical Christmas songs!)

Sett gets a triangle bc he is the only one who doesnt play another instrument

K'Sante playing the saxophone and being too loud for Aphelion's recorder :c and starting to almost cry because the recorder, cello and piano are in c while he is stuck with a shit ton of #'s and ß's

Kayn suddenly being forced to play the piano bc ezreal wants to try out the recorder with aphelios and they need the piano, but playing with 0 practice is hard. thank god kayn knows the piano well enough...

but k'sante just stopped trying and simply improvises, he isnt playing the melody anyway so why not simply hold the #e for half the song?

aether and lumine who dont remember their first language of their homeworld anymore. who, if they heard it, i guess they would be able to understand in general, but if they tried to say anything theyd struggle - its been so many centuries, so many worlds, and words of other languages, all mixing, have taken its place.

but who could remember something set like a poem or better, a song, maybe. with all the lyrics as a whole naturally coming back with the melody still. tunes they sang as children, or a lullaby they fell asleep to.

maybe sometimes singing it absentmindedly to themselves as theyre doing something.

(Before anyone asks, it's the only Rammstein song I know and no, I don't know German- I just read the translated lyrics.)

All I can say is that this song is a dark, haunting gem that I don't think I can get out of my head anytime soon. That guitar melody sends a shiver down my spine every time I hear it. I'm pretty indecisive about which line I love the best but the "Bitte, bitte, gib mir Gift" at the end makes me feel shrimp emotions.

However, it's the theme that made me obsessed with Amour: that love can be painful and destructive rather than being pure and sweet. I'm glad someone's addressed that because it's very easy to ignore the dark side of love. It also shows how even toxic love can still be addictive and cause people to mess themselves up without realising it.

That really hits me hard as a loveless aro because I've experienced this so much when it comes to my family and friends to a degree that now I feel extremely disconnected from it and the word itself has negative connotations for me. Yet, I still find myself torn between trying love and befriend others and isolating myself out of fear of getting hurt or used again.

Plus, Amour is the first song that I know which is about love but isn't a romantic song itself as it 'dissects' what it truly is without much bias.

Every language I am learning on Duolingo and what is hardest about it, ranked by amount of xp:

Chinese (Mandarin): I speak more Chinese than the target audience. I spend lessons guessing what Duo wants and making mistakes cuz I forgot how English word order works. Also, if I were trying to learn characters, I would not be learning them via Duo even if I tried.

German: my German background is garbage. Nobody has formally explained how grammar works and I’m just brute forcing my way through. I have no clue which case to use.

Japanese: for some reason, I look at すし and think “shòu sī”. English pronounces it sushi. That hiragana is pronounced sushi. Why does my brain say it’s supposed to be “shòu sī”. Also, it hasn’t taught me any kanji yet, but I suspect it won’t do a great job of it.

Irish: bruh. Can you please explain the spelling. I know it’s a pretty regular spelling system but you’re not explaining how it works. Why. I am just guessing how things are pronounced but that’s a terrible idea because Irish spelling is even less Englishy than Pinyin.

Finnish: I’m two lessons in. I’m so hyped to experience vowel length. At least that’s a thing in Japanese too lol.

Pretty neat of Heilung to have a guy reading a German poem about a gruesome battle in the rain for five minutes and after he finishes a guy fucking dies screaming in your right ear. No idea what the dying guy was saying but shit it sounded real at certain points 😭
