Sorry if you have received this question before (and no need to answer publicly or even at all if you don't feel like it; that's my usual disclaimer 😊).
So I know you're a big Bessières-Murat shipper, that's why I hope you may be able to help me out. I've read several times (in English publications, as far as I can remember) that Murat and Bessières indeed were close friends. Have you come across anything that supports this assumption? Because I've been looking and so far I've come up with nothing except Bessières being a witness ("cousin") at Murat's wedding. Which is far from unusual for Bessie. The list of correspondence in the French Archives only seems to have official military documents they exchanged - but no less than 22 letters "of predominantly private nature" (sic!) Bessières received from Eugène de Beauharnais. And considering Murat and Eugène were not exactly best friends...
If you have more examples of private relations between Murat and Bessières, I would love to learn about them!
Thank you in advance! 💝
AAAAA I SAW THIS ASK THIS MORNING BUT FORGOT TO ANSWER I AM SO SORRY!!! I know that Murat and Bessières met when they were in school (College of Saint-Michel at Cahors) then went on to serve in the same guard (Constitutional Guard). It would seem to me that Murat initiated the friendship, although I have seen someone people say that it was Bessières so on that I am uncertain, but Murat seems to have been the one usually dragging Bessières around with him. One of the biggest factors contributing to this sort of historical blurriness regarding their relationship is the fact Bessières had a whole LOT of his personal letters burnt by his own command shortly before he died, likely including a lot of his correspondence with Murat. Regarding his friendship with Eugène, given Murat's nature and attitude, I feel like if that truly made him uncomfortable/paranoid he would have dropped Bessières immediately and/or taken a passive-aggressive or straight up hostile attitude with him which he does not seem to have taken from what I know; this could either mean that maybe he didn't view this friendship as a threat or he cared too much about Bessières to drop him (which is the cute option that I prefer bgdhjhdfjdf). I know a couple of rumour-style stories of Murat begging Bessières to drop out with him, or Murat convincing Bessières to sneak out with him at night when they were in school but these are just stories from somewhat unreliable sources regardless of how much I'd love to believe them TwT. I mainly ship them because I love their dynamic, especially stemming back from when they met where Bessières was the perfect golden boy and Murat was the unpredictable chaotic little fuzzball. I also love their relationship stemming back so far to the point they made such a genuine connection, when they met again in Italy Murat seemed to still hold the same affection for Bessières. I also have never read about Bessières resenting Murat on any personal level, even after his betrayal, if anything Bessières seemed to become even more miserable after Napoleon essentially blacklisted Murat, but this might be my biased reading of it since there were a lot of other factors making Bessières miserable at that time (600k of debt, post-Russian campaign, lots of comrade deaths, etc.). I hope some of this info helped, some of it is listed in their wikis actually! I have a messy scrambled time with my sources so if I find deeper ones I'll lyk TwT. TLDR; i am the crazy bessimu person i love bessimu so much bcuz theyre adorable childhood friends who seemed to never stop caring about each other.

A Family Dinner
Another passage from my narrative, since I'll be posting those here more often.
Here's your first proper introduction to a few of the main characters in my narrative, and I relied both on my own extremely limited Spanish but mostly a translator to pull this scene together.
Uhhh tagging the only person I know would be interested in reading this,in the hopes that I have done them justice
@thatqueerweirdo
The alien, Mateo Alciato observes, is surprisingly civil. His lips move accordingly, but the sound, his voice, Mateo presumes, comes from one of his wrists.
“Estaré en deuda contigo,” he states, and he attempts to raise a choripán to his mouth. His dress sways softly in the wind
The alien takes a bite and pauses.
“Algo está mal?” Lucia asks
“No, no, lo siento, señora…nunca… comido el carne...antes” this response comes from him, and Mateo can tell, no only because his Spanish is mistranslated, but also because of the familiar off-russian accent; a refreshing change of pace, he finds, from that grating electronic voice.
The alien mutters something in his native tongue, referencing something…or someone named Akanthé.
“El hoyo en Constitución,” great-aunt Alcira asks, “¿eras vos?”
The alien nods, somewhat sheepish.
“Mi nave se…un momento… des…hi…deshizo.” and again, with more certainty, “mi nave se deshizo. Yo… estrellar con los Andes.”
Mateo nods. His Spanish is relatively conversational, despite his conjugation and grammar errors.
A smile forms on Mateo’s face. In time, he will learn, but for now…it’s best to let him rest.
“¿Cómo te llamas?”
“Mi nombre es Kaió, y soy…oriundo de la…planeta Kaia, en la galaxia Arisiana”
“No he oído hablar de él antes,” María states.
“Ah, lo…saber como… la galaxia Andrómeda.”
Mateo leans forward, intrigued.
María, on the other hand…
“Tienes el viaje intergaláctico?”
“Si,” Kaió agrees, nodding emphatically.
Kaió offers a timid smile, and Mateo responds in kind.
The extraterrestrial’s gaze returns to his half-eaten food, and, with a left arm, points to it.
“Cual…”
“Choripán,” Lucia answers, “María lo hizo.”
Kaió’s four eyes focus on the lunch before him.
To this day, despite seeing it with his own eyes, back before he knew of Kaió’s true nature, watching his irises spill into the whites…uh…greys of his eyes sends a chill down his spine.
This being, though cordial, is capable of extreme violence.
Kaió’s gaze turns to Mateo’s bewildered daughter.
“Como hiciste eso?”
María stretches out a hand towards Kaió’s face, and for a moment, Mateo fears for her, that the alien would react defensively.
Instead, he gently places a scaled left hand on María’s wrist and redirects her.
“La práctica, niña.”
The girl’s eyes widen, and she turns her gaze to her own chorizo, staring at it with the intensity of a monastic disciple.
“Por favor, María, termine de comer.” Lucia says, but Mateo knows that look. It’s that same half-smile she makes when her amusement betrays her instructions.
“Estoy tratando de hacer que mis ojos sangren,” María declares, again with her monastic intensity.
“Were that the case,” Kaió mutters in English, “I would not be sitting with you Terrans.”
Mateo, in a stroke of mischievous impulse, translates Kaió’s words for the rest of his family, garnering a variety of looks, from the confusion on great-aunt Alcira’s face, to the awe on his daughter’s face, and the flushed cheeks of his wife; Mateo himself expressed a restrained interest, making sure that he does not appear to invested in their new guest.
“Me disculpo por mi hija, Kaió,”
“No, no, estas bien.”
Even Mateo can see that language barrier disintegrate, having been chipped at little by little until this moment.
It seems as though embarrassment is a universal constant.
“Que vamos a hacer ahora?” Alcira asks, addressing the elephant in the room.
“Podemos mantenerlo? Por favooooooooooooooor? Por favooooooooooooooooooor?”
“María,” Mateo adds between bites. This is the first time he has spoken all evening. “No esta una mascota.”
“Hay tambien el problema de seguridad nacional.” Alcira adds. “Es posible que el gobierno no sea indulgente con los extraterrestres.”
“Puede cambiar!” María shouts. “¡Cambia! Cambia! ¡Cambia!”
“Uno momento,” Kaió states, his voice unusually level for the situation at hand, “necesit…a…mos… necesitamos tomar…sus palas.”
This garners a few looks of confusion from the Alciato household.
“It’s okay,” Mateo answers in English, “take your time.”
“I would be grateful for your assistance,” Kaió pleads, “it seems as though I have reached the limits of my knowledge. On the matter of the Spanish language.”
“What did you want to say?”
“I wished to suggest that we take Alcira’s viewpoint into account. I am sorely unfamiliar with your method of governance, and how your sector would react to such a possibility of my existence.”
Matteo nods, glancing back at his family, Alcira and Lucia staring at him expectantly, while María has already opened her dictionary.
“No necesitas, María,” Mateo gently tells her, and Kaió offers the family an apologetic look, the scales on his face pointed sharply downwards in an attempt to convey remorse.
“Hay que tener en cuenta las palabras de la tía Alcira,” Mateo translates.
“This is a time-sensitive matter…” Kaió adds.
“Este es un asunto sensible al tiempo.” Mateo translates.
“But I am eternally grateful for your patronage…”
“Pero estoy eternamente agradecido por su patrocinio.”
“No podemos rechazar a alguien necesitado,” Alcira answers, and her tone softens, a rare occurrence with her, “aun que eres un extranjero en este planeta.”
“Para que podamos quedarnos?”
“Si, María,” Alcira confirms, “y tú estás a cargo de su lección de español.”
The girl, Mateo’s pride and joy, scrunches her face. The monastic determination was now replaced with unrestrained confidence, beaming from ear to ear.
“Su dente!” Kaió cries, the usually-deadpan robotic voice on his translator somehow perfectly emulating his distress. “A quien debo matar para vengarte?”
“El Ratón Pérez es inocente! ¡No mates a mi amigo!”
Kaió’s gaze softens, and he places a sheathed dagger on the coffee table.
“Como quieras, María.”

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
8
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
191,977
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Ted Lasso is the main one right now
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
A German, a Russian, and an American Walk into a Bar (The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015))
oh god, you're gonna get it (you have not been given love) (Ted Lasso (TV))
The Garrison Reserve (The Musketeers (2014))
The Dick String Incident (Ted Lasso (TV))
somebody's hands who felt like mine (Ted Lasso (TV))
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, though I am woefully behind
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
It's a toss up between right next to the heart of me and somebody's hands who felt like mine. I think the first one is technically the sharper angst, but it at least has a sequel in the works to make things a little better. The second one is a softer whump, but open-ended and with no follow up planned.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
In terms of fics that have actually ended, A German, a Russian, and an American Walk into a Bar wins by a mile
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet???
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. Whatever kind. If I am feeling inspired by a thought, I'm gonna write it.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've written AUs but no straight-up crossovers yet, though I've lazily batted a few around in a sort of 'what if x met y' sort of way
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, A German, a Russian, and an American Walk into a Bar and The Garrison Reserve were both co-written
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Right now it's Jamie/Whump
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
It's not that I won't finish The Garrison Reserve (literally the last chapter is half written), but finishing it is going to mean a rewatch because I have straight up forgotten half the side characters' names
16. What are your writing strengths?
Maybe descriptions? Also my willingness to try to tell a joke
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
This is one I try very very hard to edit out, but I am literally the worst at writing my thoughts down out-of-order or forgetting to finish a thought entirely. Oh, and dialogue. It either comes naturally or I am forging that garbage with a hammer.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I think there is a time for using another language in-text and a time when simply implying the other language or leaning on the perspective of a character who doesn't speak the other language is the correct decision.
That said I am currently writing a story about Dani and Jamie which involves some Spanish dialogue, but I feel fairly good about it because 1) when in doubt, I can (and do) just quote my mom, 2) if it sounds too simplified / non-colloquial I can always make the excuse that Dani, like my mom, doesn't want to confuse Jamie while he's learning, 3) any mistake I make could easily be a mistake that Jamie would make anyways. Wins all around!
Somewhat related, there was an absolutely fantastic Sherlock (BBC) fic back in the day (which was sadly removed from AO3) told from John's point of view where Sherlock decided he would go about his day in Italian. It included Italian dialogue that you could hover over for the translation, but the thrust of the fic was John playing along with his best guess of what was being said. The result was a fic that concurrently told two entwined stories by emphasizing two different povs by giving the audience the choice to ignore one in favor of experiences the other one first with no subtitles. It was very cool.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
a two-page handwritten DBZ fanfic when I was 11.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
oh god, you're gonna get it (you have not been given love)
tagging: @sighonaraa and @altschmerzes because I've not seen either of you yet

Alright. So what are the best character designs you've encountered in a webcomic? It can't all be bad.
Oh sure, this time I'll go in no particular order. Let me start with the most obvious.
1. Matt from Gene Catlow
I may be biased but Matt is a character design masterpiece, he's got a simple yet effective design that captures his personality as a self-serving schemer. His appearance is very much inspired by Cassius from Kimba the White Lion, making him appear as a vicious panther-like cat as opposed to Gene's tomcat design. Matt is also sexy despite not being conventionally attractive, but part of that is thanks to the wide range of emotions Matt goes through. He is the most emotional character in this comic, and his expressions come off as natural due to how flexible his face is. He can look adorable in one panel and scary as hell in the next. You can tell Albert put a ton of care in Matt's design. It didn't start out perfect, hell, it didn't even look like him at all, but eventually, he became the design masterpiece he is now.
2. Dr. Universe from Spinnerette
While Krawniverse is an annoying objectivist self-insert, I think he has a great design. The mad scientist look that is eyecatching from the get go. He also does look somewhat like a normal human being when he's in a civilian outfit, but he looks so much more interesting as the mad scientist. I went with the black jacket he wore at the beginning of Fat Spinny arc as my favourite look for him.
Demikhov does also deserve a shoutout for being a russian remix of Universe's design.
3. N.O.S. from Console Girl
Of course the best character from Console Girl also has the best design, it really sucks that every other console's design prioritizes author's fetishes or cosplay instead of giving them an unique outfit that have the colors of console on the forefront. N.O.S. not only looks great, she can go from elegant to psychotic in the blink of an eye. Her grey skin also makes more sense than with Vibibi because it's part of the CONSOLE's color. She also looks oddly cute when she doesn't do the mad eyes.
4. Sir Ari from Kit n Kay Boodle
It's a snake with a top hat. Sometimes less is more.
5. Celesto Morgan from Dominic Deegan
This is another biased choice but of all the characters in Deegan Celesto has the best design, he has a consistent hairstyle and his design is the perfect foil for Deegan. He started off as Szark/Lady Szark's lover who later became the truth-spitting edgelord we all know and love. I also like how his eyes glow black instead of white, which probably fits the seers more. Anytime shit is about to go down Celesto will show up, but he also might show up to bang some chick.
6. Stealth from Alien Dice
Yes, Stealth is also in the best design list, more specifically her old design. Even if Tiffany has learned to draw the new Stealth, the old design is just so much superior. I think Stealth's old design may be my favourite of all the dice designs as rest of them are either malformed animals or discount Digimon. She looks like what you expect alien cat to look like with green large eyes, two tails and hypnotic fur pattern. Can you imagine what the evolved forms would've looked like if she never got whitewashed? Just...keep the human hair out.
7. Alejandra Coldthorn from Las Lindas
Chalo's art and Las Lindas as a whole peaked during Alej's revenge, originally she was just another big booby cow with tight office clothes but when she plotted the insane scheme of ruining Mora's life she became both fashionable and threatening at once. I love her brown jacket and her much more menacing demeanor. Makes you think she's gonna play the World's Most Dangerous Game with Las Lindas residents. Of course that didn't last long, but damn, Alej was so fun to watch during this time and her design here was the cherry on top of the cake.
8. Bloodcrow from Spinnerette
We end on another Spinnerette character. Bloodcrow is a tragedy because when he isn't wearing that stupid Birdman of Alcatraz mask he looks actually really sexy even with his facial scars. He's also built great like damn. Now I kinda wish I could riff that porn co-OKAY I STOP.

Post3 Boxballet by Anton Dyakov and Andrey Vasilyev.
’Boxballet’ is an animated short film on the theme of love designed and produced by Russian artists Anton Dyakov and Andrey Vasilyev. This animation seems to take love as the main line, but it exposes the dark side of society and the ugliness of human nature through the plot. In this animation, the occupation of the male protagonist is a boxer, and the occupation of the female heroine is a ballet dancer. The ballerina is seduced by the black-hearted boss for her dream and loses herself for a short time, but she finally bravely refuses the boss and the boxer also refuses to fight black boxing, the story of the two people giving up their careers.
In terms of plot, the plot of this animation is very profound, on the surface is the boxer's tough cruelty and the ballet's gentle and good and the common appearance and contrast, but the deeper level of surprise is that the reverse of the two is actually opposite: "rough" fighters refuse to hide nuts in bandages, fake matches, and the dancer who is influenced by elegant etiquette is frequently harassed by the coach. In the whole animation, there are two scenes that have left a deep impression on me. The first one is when the dancer is harassed by the dance instructor, while the other girls in the training choose to ignore it. The other one is when the boxer who has fallen to the ground and is bleeding is still being attacked to death by the opponent. Through these scenes, the author suggests to the audience that the whole society has been eroded by darkness.
The drawing style of this animation is somewhat similar to my own, which is why I like this short animation very much. The background music is also very good, especially the punk electronic music is very attractive, which matches the gloomy style and plot of the animation. This work has a great influence on the animation I am designing and producing. The character design is a point worth learning from for me, and the final combination of the two antennas of the first half of the hero and heroine is also worthy of my script reference. The end of this animation is also very special, the sun shines on the simple wooden house in the forest, the heroine can't help dancing her favorite ballet, but because of the small space limits her movements, her toes hit the wall, she squatted in the corner of the wall in frustration, the author did not clearly explain whether the ending is good or bad, which leaves more space for the audience to imagine.

Week 8 Lecture
This week was dedicated to writing about each of the elements that we have for the poster.
The Creative:
Who is doing the creative practice and underpinning research?
I think that it is rather relative when considering who actually does the creative practice and underpinning research. This depends on a few different factors, being the fact that when an art creation exists, the artist, observer and purpose need to be considered.
While the artist is the one who has done creative practice and underpinning research while creating the creation, the observer plays a role that is not less important - was the observer the reason for which the artist created? I believe that when taking in the creation, the observer is undergoing through the next part of the creation process.
Who am I as a designer?
As a designer, I explore who I am. Being a designer is not a definition for me, rather, a way for me to express what I am, explore what I am yet to become and integrate different realities into the world we live in. As a designer, I am the flow between the origin of ideas and the materialisation of them.
What are the influences on me as a designer and where do they come from?
As a designer, I am influenced by my culture, heritage, surroundings and personal beliefs and knowledge.
For example, I come from Russia, and have strong spiritual beliefs. These beliefs, for me, are an interesting topic for studying and researching, therefore I spend a lot of my free time exploring spirituality, yoga, mandala art, divination and ancient Russian symbology.
One of the people that has had the most influence on me is my mother, who has similar interests in design, Russian culture and spirituality.
How can I unpack the personal design ideologies that cultural shifts, ethics, and responsibility that impact my decision-making?
In order to unpack what the impacts really are, I believe the creative needs to research the origins of the influence until they know just about everything about it.The main thing the creative can do in order to be consciously impacted by their influences is to first of all, understand themselves.
And before doing anything, I believe that the creative should let it all go. With a clear mind and heart, the creative will be able to start a project, and then, deciding what it will be, for who and why, they can bring in their impacts and influences that they would like to portray.
By unpacking my family history and researching my interests and understanding their origins, I can make a decision whether or not I would like to be influenced by them.
How might I expand my visual vocabulary by understanding the environmental, social, cultural, political contexts of my design influences?
By researching my interests and influences and understanding their origin, I am able to gain the knowledge that I can later apply to any of the fields that I am working in. This knowledge will also allow me to explore ways I can react to it as a designer.
Where do I stand in relation to my practice and what do I value?
As of right now, I am exploring who I am and developing my own style. By exploring what already exists, I am able to understand what I truly like and dislike, and based on that and what I would like to portray, I can develop myself as a designer.
Personally, I value having depth in creations. I like the idea that while, as the observer, we are looking at one thing, however, it has a deeper meaning to take in. I believe that when the creator allows space for the observer to add their personal meanings into the creation, it allows a somewhat conversation between the two. This also allows both the creator and the observer to learn something new and develop.
The Creation:
What is the nature of my Communication Design practice and research?
Spiritual, mystical.
How do my environmental, social, cultural, sub-cultural, political contexts and influences show up in my work?
Currently, I don’t really involve social contexts in my work unless the brief requires me to do so, the reason for this being that I am exploring myself right now more than the society.
What key themes, ideas and conversations are speaking in or through my work?
The key themes in my work are spirituality and ways to apply it into everyday life. I really enjoy showing people spiritual knowledge in creative ways that would look aesthetically pleasing for those who don’t enjoy this topic, but evoking enough for those who are into this type stuff to start digging deeper into this knowledge.
What specialist subject knowledge do I want my work to convey?
I would like my work to have enough space for the audience to interact with it in the way they want to. I enjoy putting a message into my work that the audience can react to in any way, and through their reaction, they should be able to understand themselves better.
Are there specific techniques and crafts I want to hone within my practice?
Right now, I would like to find out more styles to work in and explore myself in different kinds of briefs. This will give me a better understanding of what I actually like or not. I would also like to improve my skills working with typography.
The Creative Communities:
Who are the local and global creatives, designers, illustrators, photographers that you want to connect with?
I have a few creative people that I would like to connect with. Almost all of them are located globally, so I look forward to learning about local creatives this semester.
Aaron Doughty - content creator and public speaker that talks about consciousness
Leeora Alexandra - content creator that inspire people to raise their vibrations
Jain108Academy (don’t know the name) - he studies and teaches sacred geometry
Dasha Krivda - make up artist
Kimberly Blackstock - create paintings with dots and circles
Demi Davidson - mandala art
Sanagi - pen work, patterns
Noemi Ibarz - prints
Rainemaker Consulting
Savannah Saturn - bright, crazy paintings
What are the influences on them and what engages you in their work?
Aaron Doughty - content creator and public speaker that talks about consciousness - influenced by his passion towards the metaphysical
Leeora Alexandra - content creator that inspire people to raise their vibrations
Jain108Academy (don’t know the name) - he studies and teaches sacred geometry - inspired by nature and the passionate need to understand it
Dasha Krivda - make up artist - inspired by her passion towards art, art history and the beauty sphere. She wants to create freely and break stereotypes
Kimberly Blackstock - create paintings with dots and circles
Demi Davidson - mandala art - influence by her passion towards spirituality, chakras
Noemi Ibarz - inspired by bright colours
I think what really engages me with their work is the fact that the topics that they are working with is something that resonates with me. I guess that most of their and mine passions are common ground.
In what (if any) ways are they collaborative and engaging communities?
I think that most of them just share their passions and inspire others to join them.
What impacts, concepts, thematics, and organising principles are at play in the creative practice?
I think that each creator is unique, however, a common theme I have noticed in all the communities I am inspired by is the fact that they all want to share a part of themselves, express themselves and inspire others to strive for a better version of themselves.

Maretarium or Kotka Maretarium is a public aquarium, home to the largest fish tank in Finland! Every day I wish I could be back there. Maretarium is a little unlike a usual public aquarium as it focuses on showing fish and other aquatic animals that live in Finland and in the Baltic Sea. They show about 50~ fish species, both native and nonnative, as well as crayfish, snakes, frogs, animals like that. All the aquariums and habitats they mimic are very cool, there’s small rocky streams, spring ponds, coastal waters, lakes…. but the biggest draw is no doubt their Baltic Sea tank, with 680 000 liters of water. Behold!
First picture taken during the summer (and feeding time), second picture during the winter. The Baltic Sea tank can be viewed from several angles but this is the biggest window. It’s open at the top — several tanks are, as a matter of fact — so the fish experience seasons and weather as they would in the wild, with the added bonus of being safe and fed of course. Taking this list from a previous ask, the Baltic Sea tank has Siberian sturgeons, Russian sturgeons, rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon, European perch, common rudds, asps, roaches, and I think other fish species that I couldn’t recall then or right now. Here’s some pictures of a rare leucistic Siberian sturgeon there because she’s awesome and I love her and I always look forward to seeing her:
In the third picture she’s also with her friend, a Russian sturgeon! At least I assume they’re “friends” as much as a sturgeon can tolerate or even appreciate another fish — they hung out together for a bit next to one another. These pictures were taken in the winter so the sturgeons were feeling pretty lazy, they mostly just laid on the bottom and only swam a bit.
…Ah, I always talk about the Baltic Sea tank whenever I mention Maretarium, but I can’t help it, it’s so cool TToTT Sturgeons in there!!!!!!! And the biggest aquarium in all of Finland is no joke!!!
Okay here’s another tank, so I won’t just talk about a single one all the time. It houses the resident northern pike, common breams and European eels:
This strange fish arrangement is the way it is because the pike cannot fit breams into its mouth, and it finds the eels gross, so it won’t attempt to eat its tankmates. That last picture of the bream and pike was taken in May, when the breams have their somewhat gnarly “spawning suit” on! My friend got the chance to interview an aquarist at Maretarium and learned that the pike is one picky eater, it needs to have “hunted” its prey to want to eat it and it’s a lot of work to try and get it to eat, apparently. And the eels, man!!! The eels here are a rarity, you see, Maretarium is the first and only (as far as I know) aquarium in Europe where a European eel has naturally produced roe, with no treatment or anything! European eels shouldn’t be able to do that as they reproduce in the Atlantic, but somehow something triggered this process in an eel in 2019. They’re trying to find out why that is!
Here’s more pictures from Maretarium since I’ve already said so much:
Fortunately for me, I am planning on visiting again this summer :) It’s simply necessary for one’s mental health, I think. And I’ll be going alone so I can spend the entire day there >:DD
I need a shirt that says “Ask me about the Helsinki Natural History Museum” or perhaps “Ask me about Maretarium” because besides fish those are the two things I consistently keep talking about all the time I feel sifjskfnskgmwkgamgnskvnskfm
I need to post more about them. You people don’t even know. You have no idea about the things that are in there
#i appreciate it if you managed to read this all the way to the end haha#i am much like an advertisement for maretarium i admit. i just love that place so much!!!#they could literally hire me for social media and nothing would change about the way i talk about the place#i am so normal about maretarium <333#maretarium#fixed the bream issue! sorry about that

Jujutsu Kaisen: Au Dogs
I had to expose about dogs at school, and I started to think a lot about which dog would be each character. Since I don't have time to draw, I leave it here to remember later.
Gojo as a white wolf with blue eyes
Because Wolves are bigger and stronger than most dogs.
Wolves are one of the most intelligent and strategic animals that exist in the planet and are complicated, although they can be playful, are still dangerous because they are wild animals that are not made to be domesticated
As it is a dog Au, I think there would only be a one wolf, that is why Gojo would stand out among the others
Geto as a Calupoh
Calupoh is a mexican black wolfdog.
They are noble, loyal, protective and stable dogs, with great tolerance and good with children. But their temperament can be altered by their wolf genes, so they can become distant or they can show aggressiveness on some occasions, probably the fault of fear or stress, they are also dogs that tend to dominate, putting their educator to the test more than once.
The personality of the Calupoh reminds me of Geto before and after Riko's death
Calupoh is a Wolfdog because is a hybrid of wolf and dog, the percentage of their wolf genes go from 25% to 75% depending on the kennel. So I think Wolf!Gojo could see Geto as his equal.
Shoko as a Cat
I just see Shoko as a different category.
I've been thinking about which dog would Shoko fit. But I always see her as a cat. Because she just does what she wants, she goes at a different pace than everyone else and she excels in the Jujutsu world in a way opposite to Gojo. She doesn't really fight, she also doesn't seem to care about sorcerer grades and didn't have much interest in that part of the Jujutsu world in general, when she was young she preferred to do other things than spend time in class or missions and when Geto became a traitor. She just stepped aside, she didn't try to stop him but she didn't join him either.
Utahime as a Black Shiba Inu
Utahime is someone who has respect for traditions and she also represents various things that the Japanese appreciate in a person.
I think a traditional Japanese dog is good match with someone who usually dressed as Miko and Shibas are considered the oldest and smallest of Japan's dogs.
Shibas have a docile, calm and reliable temperament, but also can be a bold and alert dog. Their personality reminds me of Utahime.
Mei Mei as Afghan hounds
Afghan hounds are considered elegant and aristocratic dogs because they are independent, intelligent, dignified, and aloof in general —they're not easy to train because they only obey when they want and it suits them, for that reason their temperament is often compared to that of a cat's.
Is a dog that can be made the typical braid that Mei Mei uses for its long coat. The personality, color and also its appearance reminds me of Mei mei
Nanami as Andalusian Hound
The Andalusian Hound is known for being loyal to its family, gentle and calm in nature. They are celebrated for their intellect and can learn new tasks quickly. Their intelligence can make them more demanding, and does well with a strong authority figure. Andalusian Hounds can be somewhat protective and suspicious of strangers, so they make good watchdogs with kids.
Is a dog that reminds me of Nanami, he is serious, intelligent and alert but he is also kind.
Haibara as Flat-coated retriever
The Flat-coated Retriever is an active multi-talented hunting dog with a strong desire to please people. They are trusting and docile being an affectionate pet.
It is a dog that fits well with Haibara's positive attitude and the excitement he felt at the idea of working with his superiors.
Toji as Caucasian Shepherd Dog
It is a very famous Russian dog, I chose it because this dog was mostly used as a wolf hunter and prison guard.
It is a dog used to take care of cattle and kill wolves, the dog usually hides inside the flock of sheep. when the wolves appear, they are unaware of the dog's presence, and the dog attacks the unsuspecting wolves. Due to his size, strength, and thick fur, this dog is capable of taking on two wolves at the same time.
This dog is difficult to breed, although it develops a strong bond with its owner, it will rarely be submissive, since a dog of this breed trusts more in its instincts, to the point of disobeying its owner's orders in certain situations.
+ Bonus:
I see this as a Gojo!Wolf teasing Utahime for being the smallest and weakest dog among the pack and she fed up with him

Golden Kamuy - Kikuta really deserved better [part 3] 280-283
I’m still behind on my GK meta. Here is my push to catch up before new chapters drop. Just a note of clarification from my last meta. When I discuss Yuusaku’s eyes being similar to Asirpa’s, I don’t mean that he has blue/green eyes like hers but just that his ‘innocence’ is represented by that but there may also be a difference. If he were not Hanazawa’s biological son, it would make a sweet plot twist and explain why he didn’t inherit the ‘natural abilities’ of the men of that family in the military. This sounds silly, but a major theme of GK is that children do inherit abilities from their parents.
Most of chapter 280 isn’t super useful, we learn that Usami discovered Kikuta’s role as a spy for central and that’s pretty much it. Kikuta seems to think that Sugimoto will be enough to stop Tsurumi which, I dunno, I guess makes some sense considering he’s one of the main characters, but meh.
He does get a badass scene where he tries to look cool and take Tsurumi out with him here . . .
Unfortunately, he doesn’t get to be badass as Tsukishima shoots him in the head. Recall that, he’s wanted a front row seat for the Tsurumi theatre and has rationalized in the past that he’s going to be Tsurumi’s right hand man -
[Sighs]. Oh Tsukishima, I’m more worried about your mental health and well being with these recent chapters. Honestly, the rest of the chapter seems like filler to me. The skins are arranged to reveal a location for the gold, at the fort in Hakodate, Goryokaku. The only other part I found interesting is here. Tsurumi makes his orders known and Koito is off in the corner by himself.
Koito, what are you thinking? How are you feeling? Are you upset by Tsurumi? By Tsukishima declaring he’s Tsurumi’s right and man and not your big brother? Tell me Koito? Are you no longer on board with things but caught up in the momentum of events?
And both groups are now en route to the location and - Kikuta deserved better.
Chapter 281 starts out with group eating squid in Hakodate as they check out the remains of the fort. It is mainly historical context information and how this is where Hijikata should have died. I’m not a Shinsengumi ‘fan’ so this plot point continues to be meh for me.
What is more important is that Boutarou told Shiraishi that the gold came from the Russian Consulate to the fort.
Kimuspu lead them there as the group of men organized by Wilk are in search of the gold at the Russian Consulate. They are able to break through a fake wall to find a cellar below where the gold is supposed to be.
Of course, since this is a manga this perfectly overlaps with other events in the manga - mainly the kidnapping of Koito by ‘Russians’ aka Tsukishima and Ogata. Wilk goes over to investigate and sees Koito Sr. deciding that Koito’s fate is set based on the current actions of the kidnappers.
It is interesting that the previous chapter had a very lonely looking Koito to lead into this flashback that is also related to him. Is this important or just luck in the plot/flashback story line? The men proceed to find the gold - but as Wilk examines it, it becomes clear that it isn’t the gold.
Instead, we are only left with Wilk asking him what is going on? And we have no idea what Wilk is looking or referring to, but it isn’t gold!
The flashback ends and the group is roaming around the fort a night only to bump into the 27th! Poor luck for the group indeed.
Chapter 282 starts off with a fight between the 27th and everyone else. Of course they are doomed from the start since they are up against monsters of a sort. After a few violent deaths, Sugimoto searches one of the men to find a telegram.
Welp, shit. There best effort to beat Tsurumi isn’t going to happen as he figured things out at the same time that they did. Shiraishi has a complete meltdown for several pages. Which I’m personally not a fan of - I’m just tired of him being the lazy comic relief by this point. But if you’ve been reading my meta since 2018, you’d already know how I feel about that.
Hijikata remains calm and tries to think of logical places to search for the gold. Digging directly into the ground would have been too obvious so it is likely in a building.
Frantic, Shiraishi runs into the door of one of the buildings. The group seem to descend into a sort of chaotic panic about finding the gold before Tsurumi gets there and then how to get the gold off the site. It all just seems odd. Like, dude, you guys need to just chill and stop shouting out random suggestions. Of course Sugimoto immediately concludes they will have to fight. Which isn’t a very clever idea from Sugimoto, it is his freakkin’ default state.
Of course Hijikata was planning to fight from the start. That has been his goal since the beginning of the manga! But this time, he’s enlisted the help of Sofia and her fellow Russian partisans. Who are on their way to Hakodate and we get an epic shot of her pouring vodka on her face.
It is a logical call, he needs other people who are experience fighters - someone who can go toe to toe with the 27th.
Chapter 283 then turns to give us a brief flashback into Hijikata’s planning for events. He knows the fort inside and out and takes charge (as he should in this situation). Before they left he met up with Sofia and tells her to bring her men to Hakodate that afternoon.
What is interesting is the conversation that unfolds as they discuss working with Sofia and her group. As a war vet, Sugimoto is the most uncomfortable with this, even if he isn’t quite aware of it, he thinks it is too much of a stretch. What surprises me is that Shiraishi, doesn’t trust her either and he even mentions Kiro, unless he personally thinks Kiro was more trustworthy than Wilk or Sofia?
Hijikata is confident that they will deal with things as they happen, but Asirpa clearly states that they can trust her. This makes sense based on how Sofia was there with Asirpa when Tsurumi interrogated her - she knows Sofia is someone whom she can rely on.
Meanwhile, Sofia is supporting the dream that Wilk and Kiro both shared in their youth and tells her men as such. Going way back to the flashback with the three of them and their interaction with Tsurumi as Hasegawa we know that she is the most caring and compassionate of the three leaders.
She is the type of person who could truly inspire others to work towards a common goal, and we’ve seen this through her actions, including taming that tiger. The idea is still crazy, but hey why not.
On the same train is Ogata, clearly following Sofia. He’s asleep and we get a flashback to him laying on the futon with his mom.
At the end of the chapter, it notes that she is saying some lines from a nursery rhyme associated with a children’s game. I’d go with the interpretation that many things are easy to enter or become involved with but are difficult to escape. How will this impact his role in the fight for the gold? Is he still acting as a sort of solo agent? Is he reflecting on this entire mess? His life choices? Lack of choices?
The rest of the chapter is again a bit meh. Of course Tsurumi has commandeered a train, looks like it is mainly carrying freight and Vasily as well. Vasya, what are you doing again? Why are you still after Ogata? And you are just humming a tune while you lounge on a horse in the freight part of the train. Okay . . . as I’m behind on this meta, others have already pointed out that Vasily is likely a Cossack, all comfortable on his horse. Which I feel like is a somewhat lazy ‘Russian stereotype’ since many different Slavic groups existed in the Russian empire at this point in history.
The end of the chapter does finally answer a question I asked in meta a very long time ago now here: https://chibivesicle.tumblr.com/post/178997911192/does-hijikata-have-a-useful-tattoo I remember asking if Hijikata had a useful tattoo b/c we never saw it in the manga - until this chapter. The answer? Yes. He fucking does have a useful tattoo. And he is a buff man despite his age and imprisonment!
All in all what to I think of these chapters? They are moving all of the groups together for some sort of confrontation. How does this all pan out? We shall see. Koito is def wavering in his support of Tsurumi. Ogata is in the mix, likely with the Russians. What is Vasily doing? How many men does Tsurumi have? What will Hijikata do based on his past battle at Hakodate? Will Asirpa be safe? Will Sugimoto finally get captured by Tsurumi and Ogata will have to rescue him? I’ve been waiting for that to happen for years now by this point!

Burning Questions I Still Have:
You know SJM really hasn’t given us too much substance in these book talks so I’m just going to put down these questions as my own way of expanding the topic of the book beyond Eris, Azriel, and the copious amount of sex they’re going to have (Nesta and Cassian) though all of that is very exciting.
1. How much does Mor factor into this story? Are we going to see her at all or would she be more focused in on an Azriel story if we get one?
2. Does Elain have any say in sending Nesta away? Will she have some involvement in Nesta’s healing? Will we see her in Illyria, visiting her sister perhaps, or will it be short instances?
3. Does Nesta make new friends? Assumedly she does, but right now it’s looking very established character centric, but you know with these lack of spoilers. (rolls eyes)
4. Will the witch concept brought up in ACOWAR come up in ACOSF? Is Nesta technically a witch? Because her power extends beyond her natural reserve “technically.” Will we see other witches? Witches vs Illyrians... Maybe?
5. What is the main conflict in Illyria? And how will it be resolved? So far we know it has something to do with rebellion, but how do you fix that realistically?
6. How will the women in Illyria gain some autonomy, because lets be honest, everyone learning to fight is and is not going to fix everything?
7. Where is Bryaxis?
8. Eris has a deal with Rhysand to help him kill his father. How would that work? Does it involve Nesta, does this then involve her more in the Inner Circle’s antics in which she’ll gain a job in some way? Whether she wants to or not.
9. How does Nesta suffer? We know emotionally, yes. Power, yes. But how does that come about when there’s so much potential conflict in this book.
10. What is the main conflict of this story? There seems to be many, that I’m sure will be extended to the other books that come out, but to what to extent does this book extend to the others. Will we see all of the same characters in the books after this one?
11. Eris’s mom and Helion; Helion and Lucien. Enough said.
12. Nesta dealing with her father’s death.
13. Cassian’s mom, who is supposedly dead. (Jury is still out on that one; no dead body, no dead)
14. What’s that shadowy evil substance that Mor discovers by her estate?
15. Will Mor get a story? Especially since if she does then she’d be the first LGBTQ character from the SJM universe to have their own book... I think. Don’t quote me on that. But she’s got a lot to deal with too and I think she deserves a book. She’s a very interesting character. She reminds me of a mixture between Aelin and Bryce and the more secretive aspects of Nesta.
16. Will Elain ever get a mate or significant other? Honestly, I’m on the fence with this. Mostly because one, Elain is purely side-character to me. She’s interesting, but not enough right now to warrant a whole book. I also just think that right now she’s kind of useless, and I don’t mean that to be mean, I just mean that she doesn’t have a purpose yet and most of her personality right now is purely fodder. It’s her main personality I say. Maybe not the honest to god deep one, but she’s got at least the surface level personality with hints of iceberg feelings.
Interestingly enough it makes more sense I think to have the next book centered on Lucien and Azriel if they’re going to settle that conflict. Even though I hate love triangles in any sense, but none of them love each other right now anyways... And I think that it would be hard to figure out these three relationships when they’re already linked together in ACOWAR and ACOFAS.
17. Will we ever know why Amren and Nesta got into a fight? Will their relationship be fixed? Also where she at in this whole conflict of interest that is this book and Nesta being sent away? Will we see her often?
18. Will Rhysand have a good amount of time in this book? What is his involvement with Nesta--his sister-in-law lol? Will their relationship reach some level of understanding? Will they hate each other for ever? Will they have some semblance of mutual respect and a common denominator that is the love for Feyre and their protectiveness for their family?
19. What are Cassian’s conflicts? To be quite honest, I feel this book is very Nesta centric, and I do hope that Cassian is not just thrown in there for romance and that’s it. BUT we know the Illyrian conflict, the Mor/Azriel conflict, the issue with being born a bastard, not belonging with his people. The Nesta conflict, the war probably. But like besides Nesta, all of these conflicts have existed for as long as he’s lived. So is that really a conflict or an issue to be dealt with... A lot of this will be resolved through the “Powers of Love” lol and whatever else they can do in Illyria, but then what else? Internally, I don’t feel he has too much to deal with because well... a lot of his problems center around other people.
20. What will Feyre being doing? Let me be honest, I don’t like the thought of Feyre being pregnant. I understand her body her choice, but this girl literally went from let’s spend time with each other to let’s have a baby, because maybe it won’t happen in a few hundred years. But let’s be honest, if I was her I would not be thinking that it would happen in a few hundred years. Things happen in the most inconvenient times, and right now with all this, it’s very inconvenient. I also think I really don’t like it because right now she is really playing into that role of a wife and not as everything we know her as. I mean she’s allowed to relax, to be loved and what not, but I don’t know. Lame, I think, that she became high lady in name, but probably not in any sort of empowerment way, and I think that’s sad because she could do an awful lot of good, and should do it, because right now her court has soooooo many issues, even issues that Rhys kind of just puts in the back burner and hopes for the best. She is the equal to Rhys, but so far she’s not seeming so equal and she also seems to have lost some purpose. So I’m also wondering if this want of a child and planning for it is Feyre’s way of being useful again... because she spent so much of her life taking care of other people. Which again..... ehhhhhh.
21. What the f*** are Nesta’s powers? What do they do? I hope it does not end in some vague inclination like Mor’s truth power whatever. But like, she should be all powerful, death god status. I want to see Nesta as the goddess she is.
22. Koschei??? The stealer of the hero’s wife or whatever as he’s referenced in Russian lore... I think? Is he going to be more involved in Vassa, or Elain even (because Elain right now has always been the damsel) or Nesta, because of the queens and “their powerful ally.” Wouldn’t he be the best teacher for Nesta’s power really, when he’s a powerful sorcerer in the book/death god that has worshippers and what not and collects women.
>>> My theory is that if Elain and Lucien are the next pov’s then maybe Nesta will be kidnapped by Koschei at the end, and Elain gets to really show what she’ll do for her family, and what she’s made of. But it also keeps the story going without cutting it off completely, and we keep the bigger conflict which is that there’s a whole world of problems and rulers and that Nesta’s story can’t really end at this book, because again she’s suppose to be all-powerful, cauldron incarnate, the wind has heard of her, spreading the news around, and that she does need to learn her powers and I doubt anyone can really teach her, but she for sure probably can’t teach her self.
23. Will the love triangle situation not be between Elain, Lucien, and Azriel, but Vassa, Elain, and Lucien, or maybe a love square like A Midsummer Night’s Dream? That would be kinda cool. I just don’t really know if Azriel will be a love interest for Elain, even if he has that fondness for her. Azriel has a lot of problems, but he’s also like... I don’t know. Off topic.
24. The Queens--what the hell? What about that one who turned old and is now immortal? They were chilling in Vassa’s kingdom. Where are they so Nesta can beat their asses? Also, these human kingdoms--what? What are they doing now that their queens are just in hiding and that allied with Hybern to be fae? Do they know?
25. Magical humans--fae blood sometimes trickle into human lines from that one fae whoever she is. Doubt she’s the only one. Probably will have magical humans, realistically.
26. Vassa--all of Vassa. Maybe Vassa and Mor.... You never know. I doubt they’ll get that curse reversed and she’ll be completely human, so maybe she’ll a be a shifter of a sort. If I can remember she’s like the only successful experiment. So maybe she got some fae blood and she can live for a long time and can be with Mor. I certainly hope Mor does not give up her immortality for her love interest, which I’m assuming you can do like in TOG.
27. The fae kingdoms, that conflict needs be somewhat resolved. Doubtful. There’s three main ones I think. No one’s been signing treaties. How? That is all.
28. Azriel powers, shadows, how did that happen? Does it elude to something bigger.
29. Cassian’s background. Who the hell is he? Will we know papa? Mama? Past? He’s the most powerful Illyrian commander, he can’t be normal. The laws of fiction dictate otherwise.
30. Last names? Middle names? Titles. Give me everything Sara.
31. Eris. After daddy is dead, what next? Is his conflict so small and easily taken care of. He is very interesting to me.
32. Did they actually take care of the cauldron? Miriam and Draken, will we see them again and their ideal world?
33. Will Nesta travel? Because she should. She deserves to, it was her plan in ACOTAR, but then she stayed, and now she’s a shell. Please have Nesta see the world. With Cassian or without. Don’t care. Maybe both.
34. How is a treaty going to be established, when humans hate fae, fae enslave humans, and the fact that there is so much more than fae that exist as we know????? Hmmm???
35. Oh Tamlin! Where he at? What he been doing? How will he help this conflict? Assuming he’s probably going to factor more in Lucien’s story, I’m almost positive he’s the next POV. It wouldn’t make sense otherwise to my fanfic writer/ obsessive reader brain.
36. The objective of different worlds. I know SJM probably won’t get into it too much and it would probably be very complicated, but other worlds. Are people still coming in? Do some want to leave? Is it easy to travel between them--provided you know how? *whispers* can Nesta do this?
37..... I don’t know. I will add more if I can think of any, because I probably can. Honestly this was like therapy and made me feel so much better than any of SJM’s lives about the future of this series.
38. ADD YOUR OWN; unless I wrote almost everything. But doubtful!

I suppose the argument is that her natural accent is Russian and she was just speaking that way while undercover. Even alone I can see her being taught not to drop it. Add to that that she was then taken to the red room where she was around pretty much all Russians all the time, it would thicken up her accent compared to before even more. Her somewhat “broken” english in Hawkeye is gonna be more reachy with the argument she just spent so long speaking Russian she genuinely had issues remembering English.
On the other hand, a good spy should be able to mimic accents correctly and know english etc, so I hc she just does it on purpose to sound what she perceives to be cool and also to annoy people.
BTS tho, I’m pretty sure it was a way to further differentiate her from Natasha.
She wouldn't have a natural accent tho? They were in Ohio for 3 years and she was 6 when they left so if when she got to the US she only spoke Russian she would've just learned fluent English in school/daycare or whatever. Kids are sponges at that age. It's a pointless argument to have lol They're not going to change it but as a screenwriter is such an idiotic plot hole to me that I can't get over it. That's basic fucking common sense.
Also, the spy thing too. They *would've* taught her how to speak without an accent. It simply doesn't make any fucking sense no matter what angle you come at it from. It really irks me.

heiress - 2
pairing: bucky barnes x oc!reader
a/n: this is part two of a four part series based on a song lyrics sent to me by an amazing anon with a reader based on my favourite oc. hope you enjoy xx
“letters strewn across your bedroom floor. such beautiful words but you can’t remember who they’re for“
previous chapter
His memories had always been foggy. Even after slipping from HYDRA’s control, his memories were still foggy. He could remember almost everything through a sepia-like filter yet his memory as even more distorted the moment he looked at her. He had this gut wrenching feeling he had known her yet his foggy red tinted memories gave him no answer as to who this woman was and whenever he tried digging deeper into his subconscious. he would just get tired. Almost as if his own mind did not allow him to know her but he knew he must’ve seen her face or her figure somewhere and if he hadn’t then he must’ve known her in another life because whenever he looked at her, he felt comfortable. It was an odd sensation to explain, a deja-vu like feeling, a feeling which made him want to run up to her and held her into his arms but she was a stranger. Everything was strange here even Wanda who despite him having shared a few words with, looked so distant.
- When did Wanda have time to have two ten year olds? - Sam threw himself to one of the beds in the room the two of them had been assigned to. Sharon had gotten a different room yet Sam and Bucky were bunking together like 13 year old campers. - Also can she resuscitate people now? I mean, he’s an android but nevertheless. Oh my god, how did an android and a human had kids?
- Do you trust them? Sharon isn’t too convinced.
- Well, Wanda fought by our side so did Vision and Fury and Hill are with them. Unless they all turned evil, I think we can somewhat trust them.
- I don’t know, Sam. I ... I don’t trust the girl.
- They’re almost all girls, cyborg brain. Be specific. Did specificity did not exist in the 40s?
- The one who dropped her gun first.
- Maybe, she’s Pierce’s kid or so says Sharon. Maybe you used to babysit her.
- No, I ...
- Sergeant Barnes ... - Monica knocked on the door before allowing herself into the bedroom. - There were some letters in the file written by you. We believe it is not our right to intrude onto your privacy so we wanted to give them to you.
- God, every time I discover something about you, it makes you sound even older than you are. - Sam leaned against the bed frame as Bucky warringly took the letters from the Monica who left the room once her job was done.
The paper had grown old with time, yellowing around the borders of the Red Room envelopes they used to give the girls who behaved well enough so they could send their parents some news. He remembered stealing a few to try and write any memories which came through so he wouldn’t forget them when the officers erased him. Somehow they always found the letters yet there it was in his hands, a big stack of letters which seemingly hadn’t been destroyed. It was his handwriting that much he knew, however he did not know who Daisy was, he did not know who had the name to which the letters were addressed to.
- Who did you write letters to? Steve?
- Daisy. - he didn’t mean to reply but those words just seemed to flow naturally from him and he was entranced by the name in his handwriting alone.
The snow felt step onto the ground, it was cold, cold enough everyone was wearing jackets inside despite the heater being on and he seemed to have been transported back into his memories. Everyone was cold and covered but not her and no matter how hard he tried to make up her face, it was fogged up in his memory but he could see her, he could see her in her strap black ballet top and worn out pink ballerina shoes which she had particularly asked Madam B not to be replaced. He could see her, but he couldn’t make her out, he didn’t know who she was.
- Daisy, you’re going to get sick. - Bucky could hear himself speak but he wasn’t speaking, he wasn’t there, he was just reliving a memory.
- Don’t call me Daisy. I hate it when you call me Daisy.
- Hey, cyborg brain? Are you ok? - Sam’s voice was echoey until he touched his shoulder and then he was harshly brought back to reality. - Don’t bug out on me, I don’t know how to reset you.
- Yeah, just thinking.
The night was long, too long and he spent every minute of it reading every single letter he had written this woman until they were all spread out across the floor of the room; but we loved with a love that was more than love me and my Daisy, I’m sorry Daisy, I miss you Daisy. Daisy, Daisy, Daisy, Daisy. He had read that name more than a hundred times and he still couldn’t remember who she was yet he knew he loved her or that he had loved her. The more he tried to remember it, the more his head hurt, the more the blurry memories turned red. He didn’t known who this woman who had meant so much to him was. He shoved those letters under the bed and left the room while Sam was sleeping. He need to clear his head, clearly this woman hadn’t meant that much to him if he couldn’t remember her, but he knew it was a lie. He knew she mattered.
The sounds of his shoes against the floor made him forget about her, her the ghost of a woman he loved. He continued to walk, watching the walls surrounding him until a glass wall broke the continuous light blue of the walls. He peeked through it and there it was, the woman he felt he knew in a black suit on pointe. He was hypnotised by the constant plié to on pointe as if it was nothing. Bucky went around, opening the door to watch her more closely.
- How do you do it? - he asked, taking her by surprise. Turning around, she had fear in her eyes as she took a step back, something Bucky was used to. It no longer hurt as it used to. - The feet thing. I ... my sister used to watch ballet and they always did that.
- Oh, uhm ... it’s all about supporting your body weight onto your toes and wearing the right pair of shoes.
- I’m Bucky, by the way ... Uhm, thank you for not killing us.
- I’m Y/N. - she extended her hand to shake his. - Is the room alright? Do you need anything?
- Do you know who Daisy is? Sharon said your father is Pierce so I thou ...
- I don’t. - she interrupted him. - I don’t really know a lot about my father’s private life. I’m sorry.
- You’re too early for ... - Yelena entered the room in tactical gear, stopping once she saw someone other than Y/N. Her eyes searched for Y/N’s who were begging for help. - Fight training. Closed off fight training.
- Right, I ... I was just looking for the kitchen. - he said but was still gazing her eyes
- I’ll take you. - the blonde Russian gave him a tight smile, pointing towards the door and exiting with him.
The air that seemed to have been previously held on her chest came out almost in a wave and she felt herself slide against the mirrored wall until she was sat on the floor, head looking at the tall ceiling as if she were in catatonic state, and maybe she was, she didn’t know. How could she know if whenever he spoke to her all she could hear was that piano, that damned low piano and the mirage of him, the mirage of the life she wanted with him in Westview. She looked at her shoes, worn out, the pink satin which one was shiny new had black worn out spots over where there used to be an embroidered daisy. She was glad it was gone, she was glad it wouldn’t return. Nevertheless, she could still feel her ... Agatha, poking at whatever protected her mind. She could almost hear her calling out to her with promises of all she wanted. They had always gone after her ... the weak link, the one whose will was easy to break. It was no mistake the red room had given her the nickname Daisy out of all flowers they could’ve picked. She was easily broken, manipulated to be a strong fighter but easily broken by those who knew. She wondered if the Red Room was still out looking for her, looking for Yelena ... she wondered what control they still held over her, what control her father had over her. Both knew she was alive, both had tortured her with tapes of ... him. They knew she was alive, it was only a cat and mouse game until they took her away. Their experiment. Their unsuccessful successful experiment.
- God, he’s awfully chattier than I remember. - Yelena walked into the room, eyes lowering to where she was. - Who told you to take a break? Get up and fight me.
- He knows.
- Chill, Y/N. He didn’t even know what a waffle maker was until now. He’s not gonna break through whatever you made Wanda do to him which, by the way, I’m against. - the blonde sat next to her. - You let Monica hand him the letters, of course he’s gonna wonder who Daisy is. Terrible name.
- I’m sorry, Yelena, not everyone had the pleasure of having the code name Hyacinth. - Y/N teased.
- It was a great code name. The best code name.
- No, it wasn’t.
- Want the morning off? I could spar with Monica or Alexei. - Yelena gave her a kind look and an offer she couldn’t refuse. Last thing she wanted to do was to spar with anyone in her mindset. Yelena understood it, her too having dealt with her own trauma inflicted by the Red Room. In times like these, both girls had learned to leave each other alone to cope with whatever demons they had.
Y/N dragged her knees up to her chest like a kid, hair falling in front of her eyes as she fished for the dog tags under her shirt. She ripped them from her neck, letting the old metal tags slide through her fingers. She clenched the memorabilia of past emotions against her chest.
- Yelena said you were gloom. - Wanda walked into the room still in her pyjamas. - Besides your shield is down and your thoughts are loud. You ought to learn to control it someday.
- Well, you seem to love getting in people’s minds.
- Not yours. Whenever I get the particular pleasure of doing it ... - she sat next to her, still in her dressing gown. - You’re either feeling guilty or in such pain. I think it’s time you speak about it.
- She’s still in my mind ... Agatha. She lingers.
- What does she know? She couldn’t even give you an actually accurate mirage of Bucky. Two arms? Please.
- She’s gonna be after us non-stop, Wanda. She will pair forces with Ross to get what she wants and then all of this will be as worthless as it was. With Zemo if she needs too ...
- She can’t get to you, okay? - Wanda gave her a kind smile, the type of smile she gave the twins whenever one of them was sad but this time it didn’t help. She could hear her voice calling out for her, she could see the purple tint in her nightmares and while Monica and Wanda had learned to deal with it, mostly ignoring it, she could fell the witch’s influence in her stronger than ever.
She remained laid against the wall of the training room even after Wanda was gone. She looked at the ceiling, fingers toying around with the humidity in the air making it fall onto the ground like rain. Fitting, she thought. Yet again, whatever she could do always seemed to mirror whatever she thought or felt like. It was past midday when she made her way from the gym to her bedroom to get dressed. She knew better than to leave the hex unaccompanied but what surrounded it was wilderness and she always felt at peace in wilderness, the soft sounds of birds chirping and the water falls always made her forget the screams from the red room, the purple aura from Agatha ... it just didn’t make her forget Bucky. She had always wanted to see him again, to apologise ... to ... she didn’t know what to do, she just knew she got tongue tied whenever she saw him, the guilt eating her alive.
- Well, hello dear. - Y/N turned around, eyes shining white behind her iris as Agatha stood there in her purple peplum dress. - There’s no need for a fight, dear. I just want to talk.
- Well, I don’t ... - she took a fighting stance but the woman merely shrugged.
- I just came to give you a shoulder to cry. Word on the street is that your Bucky is around. Isn’t that wonderful, dear?
- Based on your illusion of him, I’d think you wouldn’t even recognise him.
- You know, you’ll always be my favourite out of the three girls. You and I are very similar, my dear. Besides, I can help you, I know how your powers work and it’s not for cheap tricks. I can help you with him, I know what it is like to have someone take the person who you love the most be taken for you but I can help you, dear. You and me, we can get what we want, what it’s rightfully yours.
- He’s not mine. - she meant her words to come strong, swiftly like the thunderstorm winds yet they faltered, as if they were only now registering in her mind.
- You know, dearest ... the good thing about the soul stone is that it made you who you are. The bad thing is, you’re not gonna be able to control what it gave you if your soul is in disarray. The more your mind battles, the more your ability will take hold of you.
- What do you mean?
- Why do you think Wanda got more powerful when things were falling apart in Westview?
- Y/N! - Monica’s voice made Agatha disappear in a cloud of purple mist. Y/N turned her head to the side to see Monica make her way through the trees, decked out in her fighting outfit. - What are you doing here? You missed the early morning brief and you’re in ... whatever you’re wearing.
- I just needed some time off. - she smiled. - Why are you in battle gear?
- Darcy’s sure one of the books must be in the Red Room ... the one where you were trained. - Monica sighed, less than happy to have to bring Y/N back to that place but if there was someone who could navigate it, it was her. - Yelena was not trained by ... him, so she does not know. Y/N, I don’t think ... I think you and him should talk.
- There’s nothing to talk about. - she forced a smile, following Monica back into the hex. - We are different people, besides ... I don’t think he would forgive me at all.
- Can you at least tell me what happened? What happened with him, what happened in Westview? Wanda says you’re in pain and I don’t want you to be in pain. You helped me when I was in pain, I wanna help you too. We’ve known each other for what? Five years discounting the Thanos thing? Six?
- I will talk about it someday. Just not today.
- Are you in the headspace to go with us? We can always try and see what Sergeant Barnes remembers if you’re not up to it.
- I am a professional agent. - she smiled. - I’m always prepared.
The sooner we get this book situation sorted, the sooner she wouldn’t have to look at him anymore. At least that’s what she thought and as such she had no problem returning to the place which she had escaped from years and years ago. Nevertheless, she was first and foremost an agent, someone who fought for others and for once she had to do just that. Be professional.
She got dressed in her traditional black tactic gear and jacket before heading down to the room where they kept most of their ammunition. It had been Jimmy’s idea to arm everyone involved in a mission just in case despite Y/N, Wanda and Monica being capable to hold their own without it. Even so, having a knife or a gun on them had made wonders before. Normally the people they go against aren’t exactly fair and she had learned that the hard way. As she opened the door to the ammunition room, she came face to face with him lacing up his boots. It was the most common action yet it felt so foreign to see him do it, to see him be in control of lacing up his own shoe laces. Part of her was happy for him, happy he was happy, happy he was his own person but the other part of her screamed for her to let it go of her insecurities, he was not the same man she had known and she was definitely not the same woman. She was guilty for more than half his pain and that, that remained the same.
Y/N ignored him, sliding past him to grab her own utility belt which was really nothing special except for the fact she had gotten everyone important in her life to carve their initials in them. Her point was if she was dying on the field, she had least had something which reminded her of the love which regardless of every bad thing she had done, still remained. She wrapped her belt around her waist and thigh, yet nevertheless it was still too loose. Damned belt.
- You’re putting it wrong. - Buck mumbled.
- Pardon?
- The belt. - he got up and walked up to her. - The second strap ... it’s too low on your thigh, should be higher.
- Oh ... - she moved her gaze away from him.
- Here. May I? - he asked her, hoping to meet her gaze but she merely nodded still looking the other way. Bucky unclasped the strap from her thigh, bringing it up further up, his knuckles brushing against the fabric of her trousers. She slowly moved her gaze to look at him and he fixed her belt before he moved up, eyes staring into hers. They seemed to look at each other for a lifetime, before he cleared his throat. - It should be better now.
- Uhm ... thank you, Sergeant Barnes.
- Cyborg brain, how long does it take to lace up some boots? - Sam’s voice reverberated through the room making the two take each a step back going back to the distance between them.
- I have to go. - Y/N grabbed her jacket, exiting the room as fast as she could.
The plane ride was equally unbearable with her sat in front of him, catching his eyes every once in a while. God, she used to love his eyes. She still remembered being tangled in grey worn out sheets, laying across his chest just looking at him, looking at those eyes which always looked the same even when he forgot her. Those blue eyes, they were always the same despite the two of them being different people from who they were in the Red Room. Speaking of the devil, it no longer looked like one. It was falling down, the once crown jewel of HYDRA had worn out with time. The red walls were fading to brown, the spotless rooms were now filled with dust and ghosts of memories. It was gone, so how come it still haunted her?
- Wanda and Sharon will take east, me and Sam west, Alexei and Yelena south and Y/N you can take north with Sergeant Barnes. - Monica suggested. Y/N shot her a way too familiar look, almost as if she were about to argue with her yet she understood the basis of her decision. After all, not everyone had ... a something controlling power.
She took charge into the very familiar north wing of the building. They kept most off the girls who were yet to pass to the red room there and it had been her home for years. Bucky however, was remembering things which he couldn’t fully understand. He knew this place yet he didn’t remember walking these halls, he remembered the pain. He could still feel the pain, the much too familiar pain of having all he knew be gone.
- You’ll take the right and I the left? Sergeant Barnes? - she put her hand on his hand, almost magically taking him away from ghosts of his pain. - Do you want to stop?
- Yeah, I’ll take the left. - he rebuffed her, turning left.
The room seemed to take him in, memories of his own strained voice as he yelled out for some mercy returned to his consciousness, memories of things he had said, things he hadn’t said. He swiftly turned around, turning his gun to the door before turning back again to see a woman standing in front of him.
- Woah lower the gun down, dear. - she had an eerily smile on her lips. Buck took a step back slowly but she moved her hand, a purple glow followed by the sound of the door closing. - I’m only here to help.
- Y/N ... - he tapped his intercom but no sound came from it.
- Yes, that’s exactly who we are talking about. You see I know who Daisy is, she knows who Daisy is. - she took a file from under her shirt. - Everyone knows who Daisy is but you. Now, I think it’s really unfair you don’t know so I decided to even out the game.
She threw the file onto the ground before disappearing. God, at least back in the 40s people only removed their faces. Bucky looked around, wearingly of his surroundings much more than he was before. This room. was playing with his mind yet the file laying on the ground proved the woman wasn’t a mere mirage of his mind. He kneeled down too grab the file, opening it to reveal a passport photo of Y/N accompanied by an information sheet. He read through the first lines quickly until one particular fact stopped him. Known aliases: Daisy.

Thoughts On Aimer (Multilanguage)
Back into another Aimer hyperfixation, so here’s some meta on the translations of various versions! Note that this comes from the perspective of a non-native speaker of most of these languages (except for Spanish) relying on English translations. I’m mostly basing my analysis on the lyrics, not so much the arrangement or singers. And so, in no particular order:
French: The simplest but purest expression, almost to the fault of triteness. That said...weirdly enough...it’s still the best version. I really can’t say the other versions do it better (except perhaps the Hungarian). I think it’s the juxtaposition between Romeo’s light/heaven/flying imagery vs. Juliette’s the time/life/fire/burning imagery that works so well—it even forms part of the imagery in the Shakespeare as well, even in the equivalent scene in the play. I’m so amazed Presgurvic had picked it up even in translation. The other versions do not quite understand this (even the Hungarian mixes it up) and when they do, it’s not as powerful. Otherwise, I’m stumped. Maybe it’s the power of the infinitive? French being a Romance language? The privilege of being first? The D&C dream team? That splendid Chorus backed with the power and might of the Budapest Symphony Orchestra? All of the above?
Hungarian: The best apart from the French, no question. Faithful in both translation and intensity, while resolving some of the repetition of the French. That new Chorus verse before the Juliette one is super nice, and R&J not singing it really works. That “Nincs szebb, égni e tűzben!” line especially hits so. damn. hard. The only thing that maybe makes it not surpass the French is that it’s a little too smooth and lacks a bit of emphatic punch that the French gives. YYMV. Also, show-wise, after the showstopper of La Haine in-show, it does feel more of an anti-climax. Still my most revisited version, and even the covers are a bop.
Spanish: The most faithful of all the translations—that Hector King had it so easy, I’m crying in envy. Probably too easy, though: A lot of it is grossly simplified and awkwardly kiddish. First of all, I would have translated it as “Amar” instead of “Te Amo,” frankly, since the latter is much more awkward to sing; we don’t do that nifty Italian trick of using contractions so “T’Amo” is out. Also “Amar” is much more impressive in the infinitive. “Y soy como un ave en vuelo” (And I am like a bird in flight) is probably nicer than the French equivalent, (And touching the wings and birds) but Juliet’s “Et brûler au cœur d’un volcan” (And burning in the heart of a volcano) is turned into “Y quema en mí este fuego” (And this fire in me burns), which is just lamer. Their shared verse is inferior to the French. I would have been much more adventurous; at least the Italian had “E brucia nel desiderio”—“y quemar en su/mi deseo” would have worked. King obviously wanted more of an intimate address, but the infinitive works just as well in Spanish as in French, right??? It’s only in English that the direct “you” has more power. And “Aimer,” despite being a love song, is just not an intimate one. It’s emphatic, triumph, occasionally sweet and longing…but not intimate. But at least it’s coherent and they kept the “paying the price” part!!!! They’re the only version that manages this and I am so grateful. I always do like my foreshadowing.
German: The Austrians are always professional, though Michaela Ronzoni’s translation is uneven in the Austrian (her Les Rois is especially lame). I do like her Liebe, though. They use the united/binded motifs to especially good effect at the end especially, which is always strong in Germanic languages. It’s only too bad they had that slowed-down concert-hand-wavy arrangement—no doubt they were inspired by that Production That Must Not Be Named.
Dutch: Always awkward with the zijns, which the German managed to avoid, but there is at least some good lines, namely “Liefde—haar kraft zu leven.” I’ve always liked the sound of Dutch, those nasals are attractive, but overall it’s definitely one of the weakest of the official versions.
Russian: It’s hard to judge this because they went in a way different direction, pretty much writing original lyrics more in the lines of a wedding vow song. In general I prefer this direction over others the Italian one, but it could have been much better done. There is intensity in the “Give us, in the name of all lovers” and “Time, prolong this moment!” lines, (hardcore) but the beauty, passion, fire of their love...it’s all gone. :/ Can’t say I prefer it. Exchange vows as you like, but where is the love??? One amateur Russian production had lyrics closer to the French; no idea if they were better, but the Russians seemed to approve if the comments are anything to go by. It at least sounded less strange.
Japanese: Again, this is part of the Russian-Japanese-Romanian trio that make it more of a wedding vow song. The first half is very weak, a too-simple paraphrase of religious wedding vows, but it does get better and the last two choruses do deliver the intensity needed and they fit with the soaring melody. So it does redeem itself somewhat, but it’s still the weakest sung. But I do have a soft spot for the Toho, and Japanese does have a kind of pure sound that is apropos for the song and lyrics.
Romanian: Pleasant surprise with this one, introducing a pinch of Hungarian into the mix (with the hearts and the flying) but otherwise going its own way. More eternity motifs, and a nice imagery about two dewdrops always united (dos pequeños rocíos...your Latin is showing, Romanian). It’s not as developed as the Hungarian, though; Romanian’s Latin may have impeded it from following the Hungarian too closely, or perhaps they wanted a purer imagery on the song. They may have done better just by going with the French.
Italian: Not the worst, but by far the biggest disappointment. “Love and change the world” is especially lame; it sounds like a self-help slogan. Love and change and the world! Light up the darkness! Shout out your presence! Learn how to be your best you for only $29.99! I feel like ReG are trying to sell me something. They could have been much more faithful to the French imagery, frankly, which is much more impressive. At least “Ama” is a good starting note. “T’Amo” could have been another option. I remember there was an amateur Italian version on YT that began with “Cosa ti fa sognare?” Still remember it after these years, so maybe they were on to something. (Ed: Found it! YMMV, but it doesn’t sound too bad. Much smoother than the Incenzo and less dry, but it does lacks punch). Overall, it feels much more shallow than most versions, which have at least some gravitas.
Korean: Never mind, this may be the most faithful translation yet, as far as I can tell. Incredible for an Asian language. I like how the Chorus obscures the subject until the last line—gives it more punch that way. Def one of the nicer versions.
English: Hi, we interrupt Romeo and Juliet to bring you National Geographic: The Musical! The worst, hands down. Nature metaphors /= love. Don Black actually has a good track record with translating otherwise tricky French songs (re: Legrand’s Les parapluies de Cherbourg as “I Will Wait For You”), but he was obviously too out of it or just too old to do a decent job with Aimer. This is a song that really does not tolerate much deviation from the original meaning or even the original arrangement. I would have assumed he would have at least glanced at the Shakespeare or did an indirect translation with the same theme. Not...whatever the hell this is. The best that can be said for this is the meme-level quotability; once you hear British Romeo shout-sing THESE ARE MY MOUNTAINS!! you can never go back again.
#romeo et juliette#aimer#romeo e giulietta#ama e cambia il mondo#romeo es julia#this song is so hard to do and be singable#*gazes sadly at all my aimer attempts* it’s a lot of failure#most aimers are solid tho. it’s really hard to ruin this song unless you rage quit and do a don black

@i-hope-they-have-wifi-in-hell (Edit 6/29: This is what I get for putting things in a long queue. I wrote this probably weeks ago, so apologies that you haven't yet been able to see the reply.)
Unfortunately, my knowledge of legends comes very piecemeal from things my Star Wars friend has told me, things I got via social media posts, and my own Wookiepedia research. Extra unfortunately for this question, I am relying almost entirely on Wookiepedia research, so I can't exactly give an informed opinion.
However, from what Wookiepedia tells me, it's bullshit and it doesn't follow what we know balance means in canon. This is just "gray Jedi" under a different name, it's literally the exact same concept. They use both "light" and "dark" to create balance and if you are "too light" then that's somehow bad now. That's not what balance means in Star Wars, nor is it what light means.
In Star Wars canon worldbuilding, light and balance are effectively synonyms. You aren't one without the other, there is no such thing as "too light" because the concept of being "too balanced" is kind-of ridiculous.
Balance in Star Wars is about ACKNOWLEDGING your darkness as a normal, natural part of yourself in order to learn how to control it so that you don't hurt other people. It's also about acknowledging the darkness in the wider galaxy as a normal thing that exists in order to accept it enough to not lose hope and stop fighting against it. Yes, people are selfish sometimes; yes, people can make bad decisions sometimes and hurt others; but it's never worth throwing in the towel on trying to help others heal or change. This is why Dooku loses his way. He recognized the darkness in the galaxy and decided that instead of trying to help the galaxy heal as best he could, he was just going to destroy it in order to start over and hope he could make a system with NO darkness at all.
I feel like I remember seeing a post about the Je'daii thing where the person who wrote it was saying that the Je'daii actually don't work out in the end, that they ultimately can't maintain their concept of "balance" and the darkness they allow into themselves takes them over (EDIT: It's this post by david-talks-sw, whose takes I generally do trust given how much research goes into their posts). If I choose to trust this person's interpretation of the source material, then that actually DOES fall in line with what Star Wars worldbuilding sets up for us. That anyone who thinks they can use darkness over and over again, even just a little bit, and not ultimately succumb to it will always just be playing a game of Russian roulette. They'll always have to make a choice in the end and it probably won't be a pretty one. They'll probably all fall to that darkness that they've been allowing to control their choices. It's sort-of like saying you'll just drink a little poison every so often, it's fine, it doesn't really affect you if you only use a little and then eventually you die because your body can't keep up. You can probably think of it somewhat like substance abuse, like smoking or taking drugs.
TL;DR They're clearly just Gray Jedi under another name and if the question is whether I think they fit into canon or if I think they're proof that Gray Jedi are real/would work, I feel like I've made my opinion on Gray Jedi pretty clear at this point. It's possible the source material itself doesn't even support them, but I can't speak to that with any level of authority given my lack of familiarity with legends as a whole.
Since people like throwing out "Gray Jedi" as some kind-of gotcha with a made-up definition to lift up their faves as better than all of the other Jedi, I think it's within the rules to make up my own definition of Gray Jedi to reduce my least faves as worse than all of the other Jedi.
"Gray Jedi" now means a person who is technically still a member of the Jedi Order, but is choosing not to follow their teachings or practices out of arrogance whenever it suits their selfish agendas. In other words, a Jedi in name only, but not in character or behavior.
So. Anakin. Anakin is a Gray Jedi. Say hello to Gray Jedi Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Order's worst Jedi in history!
