GHOST STORIES — halloween event.

it's the spookiest time of the year... ghosts and ghouls are lurking around the corners, shadowy nights are lit up by glowing jack-o-lanterns, and it's the perfect time to tell some scary stories!
halloween is creeping closer, so gather around, grab your favourite snacks, and prepare for the fright of your life!

— one request is allotted for each prompt. to see which prompts have been claimed, check the list below.
— there will be 5 slots for each fandom as well, just to make sure i don't get the majority of requests from a single fandom.
— final entry will be posted daily between october 22nd to october 31st! all will be tagged with #☆ — ghost stories.
Tumblr media
“are you ready? hehe, perfect! so... this story is about...”

TRICK OR TREAT? — feat. inosuke they take you (or you take them) out to go trick or treating! dressed to the nines in matching costumes, it's a night to remember, for sure.
THAT'S THE SPIRIT! — feat. tengen (+ wives) they might be gone from this world, but they'll never leave your heart. or your side. or you alone. they loved you in life, and now they have a whole afterlife to spend haunting you.
SCAREDY CAT — feat. heizou it seemed like the perfect way to spend the spooky season: watching old horror movies together and laughing at how hilariously not scary they were. but this one is much more... chilling than you were expecting.
BUTTON EYES — feat. lyney (coraline au! this is a platonic-only prompt.) despite appearing picture-perfect, there's something sinister about this other world... you know you have to escape, before you're trapped forever.
IN PLAIN SIGHT — feat. kazuha you know for a fact that your new next-door neighbour is a supernatural creature of some kind, and you're determined to prove it.
HAUNTED HOUSE — feat. lyney your new house is a bit strange. doors keep slamming, there's whispering in your ears, and you have the distinct feeling you're unwelcome here.
UNLIKELY COMPANION — feat. kyojuro you're certain that the creature that keeps visiting you is something completely inhuman, but you don't mind. they seem quite fond of you, and always try their best to look after you, so who are you to complain?
HOCUS POCUS — feat. shinobu you found out the hard way that the 'witch' that lived at the end of your street was telling the truth about their magic, after you knocked over a potion in their house and accidentally cast a spell on yourself.
TIL DEATH DO WE PART — feat. kaveh (corpse bride au! this is a romantic-only prompt.) you were practicing your wedding vows near a grave, and accidentally brought a corpse back to life. trouble is, they now think you two are married.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! — feat. kagaya you go to a halloween party along with some friends, but in between games and snacks, you notice some... strange things about this party, and its host.
Tumblr media
“huh? what's that confused expression for? do i need to start over...?”
note: still unsure of how to proceed? some example requests are below!
— could i ask for trick or treat? with mitsuri? and make it romantic if you can!
— hello, can i request 'haunted house' with heizou?
— what about that's the spirit, familial, with inosuke?
Tumblr media
“well, wasn't that thrilling? time for a brand new story, don't you think?”
if you've read all the way to the end then congrats! you've earned a treat 🍬! i'm looking forward to seeing your requests <3 if you would like to be tagged in the event (or any specific prompts) let me know!

genshin on a minecraft smp
there was this prompt on reddit i saw asking what the characters would be like on an smp and this was what i came up with :) really silly and fun, i actually really enjoyed thinking about this
yoimiya is the redstone maniac, and she’d probably help klee build really complex tnt contraptions to grief the server
diluc is the mob farmer; builds the entire structure and spends literally all his time farming and enchanting. probably also enslaves the villagers
klee builds a zoo but the only thing inside of it is creeper exhibits
nahida’s the gardener, kaveh probably helps her build automatic farms and all the cool shit
bennett dies all the time—falling into lava after just having found diamonds, a bunch of creepers snuck up on him, etc etc. he can literally never progress in the game because he loses everything and anything he builds gets exploded by creepers (or klee)
xingqiu is just the little shit who steals stuff and does small bits of griefing. im also convinced that he and fischl would be writing a roleplay script for the server and forcing everyone else to comply
nilou is just sweet and happy, she just wants to build a pretty home and get along with everyone :) she’s the one who always helps others out no matter what, whether they need food, weapons, armor, or blocks, she almost always has something to help, and if she doesn’t then she’d be willing to help you get it.
wanderer grinds everything by himself and completely ignores everyone. might even try to beat the dragon by himself too. xingqiu and fischl explain him in the lore as the rude old man who no one ever sees, but occasionally he will grant luxurious gifts to anyone he deems mildly tolerable. the only people who have ever received such gifts are sayu and layla because they do jack shit and are afk most of the time, and he thinks it’s funny.
venti is the first one with elytra. cons yoimiya into giving him all her fireworks. farms music discs
albedo and sucrose are predictably the ones with all the potions. they’ve also scoured the nether; they know it better than anyone else, and they make all the ice bridges for quick nether travel.
layla and sayu are always the ones asking to sleep first—if he is online, there will be a following “fuck you” from diluc, as he is the server’s resident mob farmer and batman kinnie
alhaitham refuses to participate in the “lore” because “fuck you” (fischl cries) (xingqiu demands a duel, for thou hast made his fair lady shed a tear) (alhaitham obliterates him and goes on with his day)
xiangling forces chongyun to share a house with her because the only thing she wants to do is make a farm and kill animals and throw food at everyone and thats literally it. she’s probably really frustrated there aren’t more elaborate meals to make. forces chongyun to build the house and mine and get armor and weapons and literally anything that doesn’t have to do with food (xingqiu visits sometimes to say hi to xiangling and then bully chongyun). she probably also mooches off of nahida and kaveh’s automatic farms
cyno is immediately elected chief of police in the “lore” (the only other people on this “police force” are xiao and heizou)
xiao is completely serious about his job, heizou is not. cyno is a mix of the two. basically all they do is show up occasionally and act really intimidating (or, in heizou’s case, flirt with everyone). yanfei (the judge in the lore) is sick of them for wrongfully incarcerating innocent people over and over again
tighnari and collei have an ACTUAL zoo that isn’t just full of creepers
diona lives with diluc and literally the only thing she does is breed cats, she has so many that it lags the server if you walk into the chunk, so the “police” have sometimes had to stop by and make her spread them out. she’ll comply but then the next day there will be even more cats because she does everything out of spite. also steals everyone’s nametags. she is a convicted felon, charged with multiple accounts of armed robbery, assault, and intentional failure to comply with the wishes of the server, which resulted in harm to one or more players or the entire server (it nearly becomes unplayable because of all the cats so they ban her)
zhongli terraforms the shit out of everything
dori creates a monopoly off of some resource by taking all of it in the vicinity and anywhere remotely nearby so that if someone didnt want to buy it from her they’d have to run thousands of blocks away
fischl builds the entire castle from last year’s summer event, crowns herself prinzessin, and appoints her knights (kaeya, mika, jean, bennett, razor) who start to have beef with the police and then there’s a war and then it gets resolved by klee and yoimiya blowing everything up

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – animated trailer, commented gameplay reveal
Gematsu Source
Tumblr media
Publisher Ubisoft and developer Ubisoft Montpellier have released a new animated trailer and commented gameplay video for the newly announced side-scrolling action game Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
Get the latest details below.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown begins with the capture of Prince Ghassan, after which the Queen dispatches the Immortals to find and return her son. The trail leads the group to Mount Qaf; once the heart of Persia and home to the god of time, Simurgh, it is now afflicted by a time curse. Past and future coexist, driving the mountain’s inhabitants mad and transforming them into monsters. As the youngest member of the Immortals, Sargon is brash and confident—traits that can be his biggest strength and his biggest weakness. It will be up to him to track down Prince Ghassan and discover the mysteries surrounding the curse of Mount Qaf.
A recent hands-on event at Ubisoft Montpellier gave us access to an early part of the game, where we explored Mount Qaf and got to play as a more powerful Sargon than one would normally have at this stage of the game, with increased health and extra weapons and abilities.
At the beginning of the game, Sargon will have limited health and abilities, leaving players to master the timing of his parry and slide mechanics to counter and avoid enemy attacks. As you progress, you’ll gain a host of new abilities—as well as modifiers known as amulets—to make Sargon more formidable in battle and open new paths of exploration. Amulets offer up buffs for Sargon, like turning his arrow shot into a three-arrow spread or giving him a second chance at life when dealt an otherwise fatal blow. Each amulet has a cost attached to it, however, and Sargon can only equip so many amulets at once (this allowance can be upgraded by visiting shopkeepers), so you’ll need to choose the right amulets for your playstyle or situation. Amulets and abilities can only be swapped out at Wak Wak trees: golden trees that also replenish your health, health potions, and arrows. They’re also where you’ll save your game and respawn after you die.
Larger Than Life Battles
Sargon’s weapons include his twin blades, Qays and Layla; his bow; and his Chakram, a charged projectile shot that can bounce off walls and return to Sargon. Combine these with his jump, slide, wall jump, parry, air attacks, directional attacks, and more, and Sargon quickly starts to feel like a master swordsman, with seemingly endless combos available to dispatch your cursed enemies. Enemies in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown have three different types of attacks: basic attacks which can be parried to briefly stun them; attacks where their eyes glow yellow, which can be parried to land a massive, cinematic counter-attack; and attacks where their eyes glow red, which cannot be parried, only dodged.
Sargon can also trigger powerful Athra Abilities, which unleash devastating anime-inspired special attacks and other effects. These are tied to his Athra gauge, which increases when he lands successful attacks, and depletes when he is hit. The Athra gauge can be filled to two levels, with each level allowing you to utilize a different ability. There are many different Athra Abilities, including the Super Massive Wave, a level-one ability that deals huge damage to enemies; or Bahman’s Breath, a level-two ability that creates an explosion and a zone of effect that gradually heals Sargon. You can assign active Athra Abilities at Wak Wak trees.
Coming from Rayman creators Ubisoft Montpellier, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown offers up some challenging platforming, pushing players to weave extremely precise, acrobatic paths through traps and other hazards—but make no mistake, its boss encounters can prove just as difficult. Early on, when traversing the Lower City, we encountered Jahandar, a massive manticore with the body of a lion, horns of a ram, wings of a dragon, and tail of a scorpion. Each of Jahandar’s attacks utilize a different part of his body, from his venomous tail sting to his horns-down charge attack, the latter of which could be parried to deal a large chunk of damage. After struggling against Jahandar’s venomous tail attack, I returned to a Wak Wak tree to equip an amulet that lessened toxin damage—and once I could confidently parry its attacks, I also added an amulet that restored a small amount of health on a successful parry. Those amulets, combined with my Athra Abilities and good, old-fashioned trial and error, helped me defeat Jahandar.
Opening Up New Paths
Mount Qaf is filled with varied locations and multiple diverse biomes, like the Lower City and Autumnal Forest. The former is based around the urban and religious architecture of the Achaemenid and Sasanian empires, while the latter is inspired by Iran’s Hyrcanian Forests. The Lower City was populated by undead soldiers and Prince of Persia‘s classic spinning spike traps, while the Autumnal Forest felt alive with masked headdress-wearing guardians and floral platforms that bloomed and faded as you leapt on them.
Enemies aren’t the only residents of Mount Qaf. Throughout his journey, Sargon will come across a variety of NPCs who offer up sidequests, uncover parts of his map, reveal secrets, upgrade his equipment, or sell him various amulets and other goods. One such NPC is Kaheva, the blacksmith of the gods. In exchange for Time Crystals (a currency that all enemies drop when defeated), Kaheva will sell Sargon amulets, or upgrade his swords, bow, and quiver. Other, less godly, shopkeepers offer up more potent health potions or upgrades to the number of potions you can carry. In a world as hostile as Mount Qaf, friendly NPCs can be some of your strongest allies.
Your map will be a crucial tool as you explore Mount Qaf, helping you uncover new paths to traverse, challenges to overcome, and treasures to earn. Even with a map, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown‘s world is labyrinthine. To help players mark important locations, the development team added The Eye of the Wanderer, an ability that you can use to place a screenshot of a location on your map—so rather than having a random marker on your map that you may forget, you’ll know exactly what NPC, puzzle, quest, enemy, or whatever else you chose to highlight is waiting for you at your marked location. Like other Metroidvanias, new paths will open up as you progress and unlock new abilities, so marking a location you can’t access quite yet will come in handy when you need to revisit it.
Stay Light On Your Feet
Sargon will earn his own set of unique space- and time-manipulation powers that can aid him in combat, exploration, and puzzle solving, including the Rush of Simurgh and the Shadow of Simurgh. Rush of Simurgh is an air dash that is helpful for platforming challenges or escaping enemy attacks. Shadow of Simurgh lets him place a shadow of himself in an exact location with the press of a button. Pressing it again will immediately transport Sargon back to his previously marked location with the same momentum he had when it was initiated. It’s the key to solving certain timing- and switch-based puzzles, and in a fight, it can be used to dodge a surprise attack, or to get the drop on an enemy by appearing directly behind them.
In one particularly difficult platforming challenge, I needed to navigate a chasm dotted with the outlines of various platforms and blocks. Shooting a nearby bell with an arrow would solidify the platforms in a small radius around the bell for a short time, forcing me to move quickly and think even quicker. Falling through a platform would often plunge Sargon into a pit of spikes, meaning I’d need to restart from the previous checkpoint. After many failed attempts at jumping, shooting, wall jumping, shooting, and air-dashing, I realized I wasn’t making full use of Sargon’s Shadow. During a platforming challenge, it can be used as an improvised checkpoint: Get to a safe point, create a teleport shadow, and if you start falling to your death, you can instantly transport back to safety to try again.
You don’t need to create a shadow at a safe point—it can be used to get back to any location, even in midair. In one instance, I wasn’t able to leap off a platform before it was about to disappear; adding a shadow of myself to the location before I fell meant that I didn’t need to leap my way back up there. I just had to shoot the nearby bell and teleport back to the now-solid platform, with plenty of time to plan my next move.
The relatively brief time I spent with The Lost Crown showed off the challenging platforming and exploration that Ubisoft Montpellier is known for, and highlighted fast-paced, fluid combat encounters that were no walk in the park either.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC via Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store, and Luna on January 18, 2024.

CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW
Sarah Sanderson is based on Sarah from Hocus Pocus. She is a 38 year old/temporarily immortal witch, Until Sunrise owner, and uses she/her pronouns. She has the powers of siren singing, electrokinesis, potion brewing, and spell casting. Sarah is portrayed by Annabelle Wallis and she is taken.
CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE
Evil was in the eye of the beholder... or wait, was that beauty? Regardless, for the early years of Sarah Sanderson's life it would have been hard to tell the difference between the two. Everything was fair game when it came to collecting all the beauty in the world, finding it out there and keeping it for yourself. With beauty came power and Sarah and her sisters were well aware of power and everything that came with it. Sarah was easily the face of the Sandersons in Salem, the innocent looking one who could get them out of almost anything (even if she herself didn't always understand what situations they'd gotten themselves into) with a flirtatious look and a seductive smile. She was the charming one, the sister who didn't shy away from using her looks and her voice to get what she wanted. Maybe she was a little bit sadistic with the people she entranced and played with but where was the harm in that? Apparently, everywhere. Salem didn't care for the Sanderson sisters, understandably, but Sarah had to admit she was a bit shocked when they killed someone as beautiful as her simply for sucking the lives out of the children she bewitched with her song. How dare they! Dying really wasn't so bad, the process was terribly uncomfortable, but it felt like no time at all before they were alive again. What a thrill! Some idiot lit the black flame candle just like Winnie said they would but there was a small itch in the back of Sarah's mind that this had happened before, that this wasn't the first time they'd woken up yet every time she tried to hold onto that, to form it into a memory, it slipped away... oh well! Evermore was a brand-new town where sinister and strange things happened - Sarah had never felt more at home in a place that wasn't Salem. Plus, there were tons of new people here who had no idea who they were. It wasn't hard to find success the old-fashioned way, selling products that promised youth in the form of skincare. Only, with Sarah's products, there was a slightly higher chance they'd actually work. Fun and being slightly unhinged is the youngest Sanderson sister's whole schtick and she does it very well; if you're going to be alive forever, might as well have a good time doing it.
I HAD A FEELING SO PECULIAR
❀ Layla Holms: A frequent customer who Sarah has grown pretty close to - even though it feels like Layla tries to hide that she's in there often and goes for the expensive stuff ❀ Evelyn Deavor: A strong, bossy lady that Sarah isn't afraid of, in fact, she loves spending time with her and picking up tips to be taken more seriously ❀ James P. Sullivan: He is so cute. Full stop sentence. Sarah can't help but get a little flirty and talk to him whenever their paths cross and maybe she goes out of her way to say hello, what are you going to do?
THAT THIS PAIN WOULD BE FOR EVERMORE

Link to MC ask game :)
1 - What's your MC's name and house?
Her name is Layla Everdeen! She's a proud Slytherin.
2 - Were they a hatstall or easily sorted?
Not entirely a hatstall, but it wasn't instant. If she wasn't in Slytherin, she would have been Ravenclaw---she absolutely thirsts for all sorts of knowledge, and it very nearly got her put there!
30 - What does your MC see in the Mirror of Erised?
Friends and family. Her mother, the way she remembers her, alive and well, and a man she assumes is her father---there's even a little girl she thinks must be a sister. Then her friends around them; Sebastian, Ominis, Professor Figg, Poppy, Natty... there's a warmth and a comfort there in the way they look at her, like they're assuring her they'll never leave her.
32 - What would they smell in the Amortentia potion?
It would smell a bit musty. She realizes later that it must be the Undercroft. There's also the scent of pine, just like the wind that comes in from the Forbidden forest when it blows just right. And finally, a clean, comforting scent, sort of like fresh laundry. She knows it well, but she just can't quite place it...

Something I really want to see but will probably never happen in Genshin Impact is a Raid Boss battle.
I really want there to be an enemy so powerful that you’re required to face it in co-op with other players. This would make for a much more meaningful and exciting co-op experience which is something I haven’t seen since Version 1.1 and the Unreconciled Stars event. Genshin Impact’s multiplayer right now is rather unfulfilling as it mostly boils down to joining other players’ worlds to fish or collect additional resources. And the game is so easy that being a solo player doesn’t ever pose a challenge. The closest thing is the Spiral Abyss, which you have to challenge solo anyway.
Another thing that could benefit from the existence of Raid Bosses is food. For all the different food items in Genshin Impact, the vast majority of them are essentially useless. It’s mostly due to how food is balanced and the lack of variety in food items, but even in general there are very few reasons to use food as an endgame player outside of certain niche situations. Obviously Adventure-type foods are always useful but ATK and DEF-boosting foods as well as potions are almost completely unnecessary unless you’re trying to get ultra-fast Domain clears or trying to hit huge damage numbers. Neither of those things serve any practical purpose.
The only use I’ve found for stat-boosting food and potions is in fighting max-level Weekly Bosses with an under-developed team or one that’s poorly suited to fighting a particular boss, which is something I only do because I’m trying to build Friendship on my characters.
That’s why I want a Raid Boss that really challenges players and forces them to work as a team in a party of four. Players could coordinate Elemental Resonances, reactions, team comps, and roles to play during the fight. One player could be a dedicated healer like Barbara, using their attacks to apply Hydro and keep the party healthy while taking heavy damage from the boss. Elemental Bursts can be used strategically to dodge attacks and heal after taking a lot of damage. Certain Constellation levels on different characters would become much more useful, like Layla’s C1 providing shields to other party members.
Seriously, how fucking cool would that be? The possibilities are endless and I honestly believe this is the kind of thing that Genshin Impact needs to take its gameplay to the next level and really take advantage of the amazing combat system it has. Adding these kinds of MMO elements could make it feel so much larger and more connected.
Sadly, I doubt something like this will ever come to fruition. As we’ve learned, HoYoverse isn’t interested in adding real endgame content to Genshin Impact, which is a damn shame. They’re very insistent on it being a casual experience, which I will grant is key to its widespread appeal and success. But that doesn’t mean it can’t also be a rewarding experience for players who want to get something more out of it.
Look at Super Smash Bros. for example. While the most recent entry in the series (Ultimate) is lacking in advanced techniques, other games in the series have had such techniques that enhance the competitive experience while having zero impact on the casual experience.
What I’m saying is that Genshin Impact’s casual players aren’t losing anything or being “stressed out” by the existence of a higher level of play. High skill level endgame content does not come at the cost of the alternative, and it should be obvious that the most dedicated Genshin Impact players are endgame players, people who see more than just waifus and pretty scenery in this game.
Why HoYoverse doesn’t think it’s worth it to keep its most passionate players happy by giving them something more to do, more things to work towards is beyond me. It’s probably the same reason every corporation fails to understand what’s best for their product: they’re tone-deaf and completely, unbelievably disconnected from what’s actually happening with their brand.
But I digress. Even though it’s unlikely, there’s a slim possibility that stuff like this could happen with Genshin Impact. The potential is there, just waiting to be used. And who knows, maybe someday if the community makes enough noise, we can get HoYoverse to make it happen.

Careful What You Drink, Layla!
Tumblr media
Poor Layla is hurrying to get projects completed and important tasks finished and it's left her frazzled!
She grabbed the nearest thing to drink so she could return to her work, thirst quenched. Except something was amiss! That definitely didn't taste like Diet Dr. Pepper!

Winx Legacy challenge!
I've noticed that there's a Disney Princess legacy challenge, but not a Winx one, so I've decided to make one!
The rules are the same as every other, except that in this challenge you can use as may cheats/mods as you want! Not all of us like playing without mods and that's ok, it won't impact the outcome of the challenge. However, since each generations has many rules, I'd recommend playing it on long lifespan (after all, it is based on a cartoon series that had a lot of seasons, as well as films, a tv series, and comics!) I'd also recommend using the potions of youth to keep your heirs young in order to complete each generation's rules
Since we don't have fairies in ts4, I've based this legacy challenge on spell-casters, so I'd suggest getting this pack before attempting the challenge.
If you do end up doing this challenge, then tag me! :)
Enjoy!

Previous Chapter: Chapter 20
Next Chapter: Chapter 22
Cordelia returned to the entrance with the dead werewolf for a second time when Alastair had figured out how to operate the water mechanism. It was confusing, apparently there was a sewer system, but it was closed off and that’s why the flood water didn’t recede. Now it was, and Cordelia realized there were even more doors and corridors where the water had been. Perhaps the flood had been on purpose. Solving this couldn’t be impossible, but it could be a pain and Tatiana had probably designed it in such a way that it could take some time to solve.
‘Lucie, are you still up there?’
‘We’re alright!’ It wasn’t Lucie, but Thomas calling back down.
‘We solved the water mechanism and can now access the lower floor!’ Cordelia called back. ‘Alastair is in a different room, he’s trying to solve a puzzle to reveal… I don’t know what it will reveal but we figured it was important. Also, we found a few keys but for some reason they break after opening a door with them. Most so far led to dead end rooms with another key.’
‘Ah, that’s annoying,’ Thomas said. ‘Probably part of the puzzle though. I think it’s common in game dungeons that you can use a key on any locked door in the area but only once.’
Cordelia frowned. ‘That makes no sense,’ she called back.
‘I guess she could have made different keys for every door as well, but this works. Good luck, and come here if you need anything!’
Cordelia hesitated. ‘Is Lucie alright?’
‘Yes, just taking a nap. She reversed the changes but it’s tiring, so she’s trying to conserve energy. Right now, everything is as it was when we entered, but I’ll keep watch.’
‘Alright, I’ll be back,’ Cordelia called up.
‘Good luck.’
Cordelia returned into the dungeon. Alastair was no longer in the room with the puzzle, instead he was standing in the corridor that was formerly flooded. It smelled disgusting down there, and Alastair seemed quite vexed by it.
‘The bloody thing broke again!’
‘What?’
‘The key! I solved the sliding block puzzle, which was more of a physical effort than a mental one considering the blocks were heavy to move, but the only reward was another bloody key. So I figured I’d be careful with it and open this door here, and the key broke again.’
‘Thomas thinks that might be part of the puzzle design,’ Cordelia said. ‘Every key can only be used once. What’s behind that door?’
The key mechanism was a bit odd. Cordelia had tried to cut down another door, but there had been another magical barrier there. A key had been able to open it by sticking it into the air, which made no sense. Then the key had broken. None of the keys had opened the former door to Grace’ skin though, but if the design of this thing made any sense, she suspected there would be a special key. Cordelia hoped sticking the special key into the magical barrier would do the trick.
‘Another room with another puzzle. Come see.’
Cordelia took the ladder to descend into the lower floor and entered the room Alastair was in. It was a room lit by torches, one door on the other end. Along the walls were thick green vines that had overgrown another door. There was a table in the center with a cauldron, several bottles of differently colored liquids, and a recipe on a piece of paper.
Cordelia guessed it was a good thing there was another door, several of the previous rooms had been dead ends, with another puzzle to reveal another key. She suspected this one would take them deeper into the dungeon, which she imagined was where they needed to be.
‘I think we’re supposed to make a weed killer here.’ Alastair said. ‘We could probably bypass this with cortana.’
Cordelia wasn’t so sure. ‘Every time I tried to cheat with cortana, there was still a magical barrier. It looks like all the ingredients are here at least. All we have to do is follow the recipe.’
Following the recipe was not as easy as it sounded. Not all bottles were labeled, and they had to compare pictures. Some of the bottles looked very similar and were hard to distinguish on the drawing. Still, Alastair seemed sure of what he was doing. Cordelia not so much.
‘You’re not supposed to add that yet!’ Cordelia yelled.
‘Yes, I do,’ Alastair groaned. ‘It’s right here.’
‘No, that’s this bottle,’ Cordelia insisted.
‘No it’s not.’
‘And after that, you add exactly three petals of this flower,’ Cordelia added.
‘You do it then,’ Alastair said, putting down the bottle and stepping away from the potion.
Cordelia thankfully took his place and added a different bottle which she believed was the correct one. Not much later they were having a similar discussion, arguing about which of the two remaining bottles needed to emptied into the cauldron and which one was to be discarded.
‘You’re so bloody stubborn,’ Cordelia groaned. ‘Can’t you just accept that I’m right?’
‘I would if you were actually right,’ Alastair said in a superior tone. ‘As it is, I’m absolutely certain you need to use this bottle.’
Cordelia checked the instructions once more and guessed maybe Alastair was right. The drawing was inconclusive to say the least.
‘Alright, I’ll try this one. But if it all blows up, I’m blaming you.’
‘I can live with that. Just do it.’
Cordelia took the bottle Alastair believed was the right one, and emptied it over the cauldron, stirring three times counter clockwise as described.
‘This should be it.’
‘It didn’t explode,’ Alastair said. ‘So I’m hopeful that means it works.’
‘Help me carry this.’
Cordelia was quite strong herself after years of training with cortana, but carrying an entire cauldron of this stuff to the vines was a two person job.
The vines receded, allowing them to reach the door and open it. Cordelia was very thankful this door could simply be opened and was not dependent on another key.
‘This is turning into a bloody maze,’ Alastair said, looking into the next corridor.
He had a point, the door led into a corridor with several others branching off. The pathways were much narrower than before, just wide enough for the two of them, and dimly lit by torches high up.
‘We don’t happen to have a thread, do we?’ Cordelia asked.
‘No, but we can find our way through,’ Alastair promised. ‘You just need to stay with me Layla.’
‘I’ll go warn Thomas first,’ Cordelia said. ‘That we’re entering a maze and it might be some time until we make it through.’
Cordelia climbed up to the first room as quick as she could and shouted upward. ‘Everything still alright there?’
‘Lucie just did the spell again, but she’s getting really tired, she’s taking another nap. I’m not so sure she could do it again.’
‘The next room is a maze and we’re not sure how long it will take,’ Cordelia called back.
‘Are you sure you won’t get lost?’
‘With Alastair’s memory, we can retrace our steps. He can draw a map in his head.’
‘Alright, good luck!’
Cordelia returned to Alastair, who was waiting in front of the door, and the two of them entered the maze together, Cordelia staying close to her brother.
‘I already checked this corridor and it’s a dead end,’ Alastair said.
‘We can try that one,’ Cordelia said, pointing at a corridor to the right that seemed to branch off in several other corridors.
Cordelia followed her brother and it didn’t take long for her to have no clue where she was or how to get back. The maze was dimly lit by torches and Cordelia wondered if those were magic too, or if someone had lit them recently. Their pace was slow, Alastair glancing around, careful to take in enough information to keep track of the location. There were decorations on the wall, old Corinthian style pillar like structures. They weren’t quite pillars as they were part of the wall. There was a relief, something Roman or Greek, even though they were in Scotland and the Romans had never made it here. Perhaps Tatiana liked the classics, she created this right?
Cordelia wondered how someone could create such a structure. It undoubtedly involved making a deal first, although perhaps Lucie had the power to shape things here on her own. Would she be able to make a maze like this too?
They reached a dead end and Alastair turned back, choosing another corridor. Cordelia couldn’t be sure it wasn’t the one they’d been in before, everything looked so similar, but she trusted Alastair knew what he was doing.
‘I must say this is a proper defense,’ Alastair said. ‘Chances of getting lost in here are pretty high if you don’t know what you’re doing.’
‘They say that in a maze, you should put one hand on the wall and follow that wall so that your hand never leaves it,’ Cordelia said.
‘That would work eventually, but takes forever,’ Alastair said.
Cordelia stepped on something hard. ‘Hang on for a moment,’ she said as she bent down, taking the object into her hand.
It was a key, just like the others. ‘That one could have been easy to miss,’ Cordelia said, putting the key in her pocket. ‘Good thing I stepped on it.’
‘Not another key,’ Alastair groaned. ‘How many more of these things are out here?’
‘I don’t want to know,’ Cordelia said. ‘But I’m glad we found it now and don’t reach the exit and realize there we missed a key somewhere.’
‘I think if that happened, I would murder Tatiana, ask Lucie to bring me her ghost and then murder her again.’
Cordelia couldn’t say she disagreed. She guessed exploring such an underground structure would be fun in a video game, but in real life it involved a lot of walking and if you failed at something you couldn’t always just try again.
After some more time of trying different paths and Alastair telling her where to go next, they reached a door with a lock on it. The exit.
Cordelia tried her key and it fit. Once again, it broke off while Cordelia opened the door, rendering the key useless but the door opened.
‘Stupid key,’ Alastair muttered, along with a string or Persian curse words he would never have dared speak in their mother’s presence.
‘At least the door is open.’
The next room was a large dome shaped hall, much lighter than the others. There was an opening to the surface at the top of the room that let light from outside in, but they would never be able to reach it from here. Nor would they fit through, as there were bars blocking the exit.
There were no doors apart from the once through which they entered, and in the middle of the room on an elevated platform was a key.
‘If I were to design this dungeon to keep something of mine safe, this would definitely be a trap.’
‘I agree,’ Cordelia said. ‘But that key has to be the one to Grace’ skin.’
It was a golden key, bigger than the others. This had to be it. If it were a video game, the dungeon would probably end in a fight against some monster who was here to guard the key, but Cordelia had already fought a werewolf, and besides, where would a monster come from here? There was nowhere it could be hidden. But there could be a number of deadly traps on the platform itself.
Cordelia held cortana in front of her and carefully took a step closer until her sword reached the key. She used the dull edge to make sure the key wasn’t harmed in the process, and pulled it towards her, off the platform. She carefully picked up the key from the ground. As she did, the door behind her slammed shut.
‘Now you’ve done it,’ Alastair groaned, turning back and trying to open the door.
Locked, just as expected. She had the key, but now they had no way out. Water started filling up the room, slowly at first, but progressively faster.
‘There has to be a solution!’ Cordelia said. ‘Some way to stop the water and get the door to open.’
‘There’s no time! I knew it was a trap.’
The water reached Cordelia’s waist already. It was cold water, chilled her to the bone. If they didn’t drown, they might as well die from hypothermia.
‘Yes, we both did. But at least I have the key.’
‘Which is no use if we don’t get out of here,’ Alastair hissed. ‘We’ve come too far to drown in gross water.’
***
Thomas was growing worried. He hadn’t heard a thing from Alastair or Cordelia ever since they’d mentioned they had to go into a maze next. Which made sense, going into a maze might take a while and they might not be able to report back as easily anymore. If anyone could navigate a maze, it was Alastair. With his memory, he’d know where he’d been and where to go. He would be able to trace his own route back. They could do this. But Thomas had no idea what else was waiting down there. It seemed to be a rule that there had to be a solution, but that didn’t mean there weren’t any deadly traps.
Lucie was napping. Thomas didn’t think she was really asleep, but at least lying down as comfortably as she could with her eyes closed allowed her some rest. It was becoming difficult for her, Thomas could tell. The wall had changed again, the first sign, but Thomas wasn’t sure if he should wake Lucie already. It was only the first change, it wasn’t coming close to the land of the thief of souls yet.
Lucie sat up for a moment, rubbing her eyes, smudging some dark make up into the corner of her eye. ‘That’s odd,’ she said.
‘What is?’
‘There’s a ghost here,’ she said. ‘Just behind you.’
Thomas instinctively looked before realizing, of course, he wasn’t going to see a ghost.
Lucie tilted her head, her gaze fixated on something behind Thomas. ‘Well, I think it’s a ghost. But it looks like how people portray ghosts in movies, not the way ghosts usually look. White and transparent.’
‘I don’t see anything,’ Thomas said. ‘So that probably confirms it’s a ghost. Can you make them visible?’
Lucie looked into the distance, her gaze fixated on something Thomas did not see. ‘Show yourself.’ There was an air of authority in her voice, she was no longer asking, she was commanding.
A woman appeared in the middle of the ruins. She didn’t seem as Lucie had described, she did not look like a movie ghost, nor was she transparent. She looked vaguely familiar but Thomas couldn’t tell why. She had to be in her early thirties, he guessed. Long brown hair, kind eyes. Upon closer look, they seemed greenish, a rare color. Similar to his father’s eyes though.
‘Who are you?’ Lucie asked.
‘My name is Barbara. Barbara Lightwood.’
Thomas’ mouth fell open. ‘No, it can’t be. You’re not her.’
Barbara was his sister. Barbara was twenty three and had recently graduated as a nurse. Barbara was in Paris with her boyfriend Oliver, and they were having fun. She wasn’t a ghost. The woman did resemble Barbara, but Thomas could tell it wasn’t her. For one, she was too old. Some of the features didn’t match. His sister Barbara had brown eyes, this woman’s eyes were green like his father’s. But he had to admit the resemblance was startling. Then it hit him. His grandmother, Benedict’s wife, was also called Barbara. His father had named Thomas’ eldest sister Barbara in her memory, just like Thomas himself had been named after a close friend of his mother’s who’d died young. This woman was his grandmother, who’d died when his father was five.
‘What do you mean?’ the woman asked. ‘You do not know me, do you? Can you tell me where I am? I need to get home as soon as I can. My children aren’t safe. My husband is up to something and I need to get the children and run before something happens to them.’
‘Do not worry. Your children are fine,’ Lucie said.
Thomas wasn’t so sure that was true, but he suspected Barbara didn’t realize how much time had passed. She believed she had very young children who were with her husband. His father had been around five when she died. It occurred to Thomas that she’d figured out what he was up to. She’d tried to run. Thomas had never realized, he didn’t think his father had either. Was trying to leave why she’d died? Thomas had been told abusive partners were at their most dangerous when one tried to leave.
‘No, they’re not,’ Barbara insisted. She looked terrified. ‘I do not know what it is Benedict’s doing, but it’s bad and I cannot allow him to be around my children. It is not safe for them. I will contact my brother Silas, we can stay with him until I have it all worked out and know we’re safe from Benedict. I had it all planned out.’
‘You died,’ Lucie said. ‘Ghosts do not always realize. You’ve been dead for a very long time. Your children are all grown up.’
Barbara turned to Thomas and took him in. She squinted, taking all of him in. ‘You look so much like him… Is that you, are you my Gideon? I always knew you were going to grow to be very tall.’
Thomas tried to hide the tears in the corners of his eyes. It was all becoming a bit much. ‘No, my name is Thomas. Thomas Lightwood. Gideon Lightwood is my father. And he’s not as tall as me, although he is still taller than average.’
‘Your father… How long has it been? He was five, the last time I saw him. Just this high.’ She held up her hand to indicate how tall his father had been,.
‘He’s forty five now,’ Thomas said.
‘It’s been forty years?’ Barbara’s mouth fell open. ‘I’ve been gone for that long? And my children have grown up without me. I should have been there for them, I should not have left them alone in that big house. Benedict has gone mad.’
‘Benedict died years ago,’ Thomas assured her. ‘We’re all safe from him.’
‘I think it’s the same as with Jesse,’ Lucie said. ‘He didn’t remember anything from where he’d been, and I don’t think Barbara does either. Jesse did realize he was dead, but he could only tell how long it’s been because he recognized me and saw I’d aged.’
‘Where have I been?’ Barbara asked. ‘The last thing I remember is packing up to leave. I had to make sure he didn’t find out, so I hid a suitcase in my closet and secretly packed whatever I would need. He never looks there. I packed clothes, the children’s toys. All my jewelry so I’d have some funds.’
‘What happened after?’ Thomas asked. ‘Did he find out you were trying to leave?’
Barbara closed her eyes, as if she was trying to remember. ‘He did find my suitcase. He realized I planned to leave with the children. He got so mad, I don’t think I’d ever been so scared. I wanted to run, damn the suitcase, but Tatiana was in the nursery and Gabriel was in the play room, and I had to get to them first. I couldn’t leave without my babies. And then he went into his study and although I didn’t understand why, I rushed to my children. I thought I’d get Gabriel and Tatiana, get in the car and go to my brother, and then I could pick Gideon up from school. But I don’t think I ever reached my children. That is the last thing I remember.’
‘That must have been when he made the deal,’ Lucie said. ‘Perhaps he didn’t want to at first, or at least had some doubts, but when he realized Barbara was leaving he decided to make her the sacrifice.’
‘What did he do to me?’ Barbara’s voice broke as she asked that question.
‘Uhm, we’re not completely sure,’ Thomas said. ‘But we think he traded your soul for power. We’re still figuring out what’s going on or why you’re here. We think you can’t remember anything because you were with the thief of souls.’
Was that why she’d appeared more ghost like than usual? Perhaps because she’d been in the realm of the thief of souls, and they were in between, so she was only half there. Perhaps by demanding she show herself, Lucie had pulled her through. Would there be a cost if they set her free? Thomas imagined it wasn’t the same as trading him for Jesse, Benedict must have promised his wife and he never remarried so he didn’t have another wife for the thief of souls to take. Besides, Lucie hadn’t made a deal. She’d taken Barbara away from him, perhaps she could take her into their world as well.
‘I don’t understand,’ Barbara said. ‘He killed me, you say? But what then? Who is the thief of souls? Why can’t I remember?’
Thomas frowned, and then turned to Lucie. ‘Could you make her remember?’
‘I command you to remember what happened the past years.’
Barbara stared blankly. ‘I still don’t remember anything.’
‘That doesn’t work,’ Lucie mused. ‘Perhaps if Alastair helps me. Memory is his domain, ghosts are mine, perhaps if we somehow combine our powers we can help her remember.’
‘They haven’t checked in in a while,’ Thomas said. ‘I think it’s because they went into a maze and it takes longer, but I have no clue how they’re doing.’
‘If anyone can do it, it’s them,’ Lucie said. ‘They won’t get lost.’
‘I don’t understand what you are discussing,’ Barbara said. ‘What happened after I died? My husband killed me. But my children, they are fine? He didn’t hurt them?’
‘Mostly,’ Thomas said. ‘They grew up in Benedict’s house, and I think it wasn’t easy for them. They didn’t realize at the time just how dangerous it was what he was doing.’
Thomas guessed perhaps Benedict did somewhat care about his children, perhaps he would be proud that Tatiana was following in his footsteps. Perhaps it was what he would have wanted for his father and uncle Gabriel. But he was also the kind of man who’d neglected his children, expected them to be his heirs rather than human beings.
‘My father found out eventually, with the help of my mother, Sophie. And then Benedict turned into a giant worm, we’re not sure why exactly, and was killed. I think it was difficult, for them, to process, but my father and uncle Gabriel found ways to cope with it and found support.’
Thomas wasn’t sure exactly how much damage had never healed, but he suspected it was part of why his father cared so much about Alastair. Because like him, Alastair had never had a father he could love or respect. What would it take for Alastair to see that Thomas’ father cared about him, and not just his ability?
Barbara frowned. ‘And Tati? What happened to her?’
Thomas wasn’t sure how to tell her this. The last she remembered of her daughter was a one year old girl, a baby. He sighed, there was no easy way to say this but he couldn’t keep it from her. ‘Tatiana had a son. Jesse was his name. And at some point in his life, Benedict had promised a grandchild to the same being he sacrificed you to. The choice came down to me or Jesse. So when Jesse was twelve and I was nearly fourteen, he died. And now Tatiana made a deal to bring him back. We have not been on good terms with her in a long time.’
He heard a sound from beneath the trap door, something he could not make out. Thomas shone down with his flashlight and realized it was water. Water gushing into the hall, slowly flooding the area. Thomas’ breathing quickened. The place was flooding. Alastair and Cordelia were still in there. They were going to drown, and there was nothing Thomas could do about it. But perhaps Lucie could.
‘Lucie!’
‘What is it?’
‘The dungeon, it’s flooding and Alastair and Cordelia are still down there.’
In the distance, Thomas heard a song. He could make out a sweet feminine voice that sounded like the sea and all he wanted was to go to her. He forgot about Alastair and Cordelia, he forgot about his worries. The song, the girl, she was all that mattered. He would do whatever she asked of him, no questions asked. Why should he? There was nothing he wanted more than to serve her, to be near her always. He could not remember what else there was for him.

Asmodeus: Moss loves hanging out with Asmodeus or just being around him. They also often gossip together.
Beelzebub: Moss and Beelzebub both have verry large apatites so they often sit and eat together. Moss thinks Beelzebub is absolutely precious and if anything bad ever happened to him they would RAISE HELL.
Belphegor: Belphegor is always surprised how eisily Moss trusts him after what he’s done. Moss can’t blame him for killing them though and it’s not like it’s the first time they’ve died.
Diavolo: Moss likes Diavolo and thinks his personality is quite entertaining but part of them can’t really trust him...
Barbatos: Moss calls Barbatos “Barbra” and often talks about how annoying he is. They truly have no problem with him but it’s now an ongoing joke between the two that they hate eachother.
Layla: Moss would die for Layla. Kill for Layla. They think she’s absolutely PERFECT and would do ANYTHING for her. Layla is very aware of this and uses it to her full advantage.
Nita: Moss thinks Nita is hilarious with her shy tsundere aditude. Nita looks up to Moss but she would never even dream of telling them.

Max: Moss and Max get along just fine. They enjoy talking to Max when he and Satan are together in the house.
William: Moss and Will cuddle all of the time and Will often spoiles them with presents and praise. Moss loves this and tries their best to give him gifts that are just as nice.
Pidge: Moss saved Pidge’s life once so Pidge feels like she is forever in debt to Moss. Moss just enjoys hanging out with Pidge. Especially when she takes them out flying.

[With Angels]
Simeon: Moss thinks Simeon is very kind and looks up to him but they also find him very bland.

[With Humans]
Solomon: Moss quite likes Solomon but they find his overly kind personality somewhat suspicious. They would never admit that to Solomon’s face though.
Jackie: Moss only wants to impress Jackie and sees her as a motherly figure. Lackie would kill anybody who so much as looks at “her boy” the wrong way.
JJ: Jeremiah looks up to Moss and refuses to call them anything but “Boss” most of the time. Moss finds this adorable but in return jokinhgly calls him “Pretty Boy”
Shank: Moss gets on Shank’s damn nerves and Shank often tries to kill them. Moss finds this hilarious and likes to flirt with her and call her “Pretty Woman” or “Pretty Lady” just to get on her nerves. Shank secretly adores Moss and they are the only person besides JJ allowed to call her Kiana.

[With other beings]
Indigo: Moss and Indigo have a mutual admiration for eachother. They get along very well as their personalities are very similar.
Jay: Moss and Jay get along just fine. Moss finds Jay quite plain and Jay finds Moss much too chaotic and obnoxious. And if Mammon’s boyfirend thinks you’re chaotic it’s probably true...
Stella: Moss thinks Stella is rather admirable. Stella is the clever businesswoman Moss’s parents always wanted them to be.
E: E is quite important to Moss for many reasons. E finds the “tiny human” quite intriguing but she will always slightly fear Moss because of the first time they met.
Sadie: Sadie is like a sister to Moss. Moss has literally killed for Sadie before and would gladly do it again if necessary. Sadie has been with Moss through everything and their bond is unbreakable.
Lucy: Lucy and Moss act like they hate eachother with Moss calling Lucy “Spooky bitch” and Lucy calling Moss her “Piggy faced sibling”. But in reality they would do anything to protect eachother.

You know something that bug me about the Eraklyon Fiasco in season 3 and want to discuss it with you if you want.
(You don't have to I'm just bored)
Now, let remember how Dark Bloom was destroyed, it was when Sky admits his love for her and Bloom coming into her sense enough to heal herself from Darkar's Curse meaning that Sky's love was enough to save Bloom .
Back to Dark Sky's Defeat (fun fact: Dark Sky was the title for 4kid version of S3E8).
When Winx (minus Tecna and Layla) went to Eraklyon to talk to Sky, a fight break loose and it resulting to Bloom saying she doesn't want to fight him but to talk to him. He then goes attack her (without hesitation or missing a beat! Remember that Part!).
But Stella (best girl) stop it, later to reveal Baltor's Mark on him and Stella using Fairy Dust to fix Sky
And Now, I'm in a predicament with Sky and Baltor's Love Potion that leaves me guessing if Bloom's Love for Sky isn't enough (not even a little hesitation from him) to stop the potion or Baltor found or made a potion that it powerful then Darkar's Spells and never use it again in the show.
I love this ask so much, thank you for sending it to me! This is going to be a bit messy because I rewrote it about five times in my migraine daze, but I think I covered everything. If I didn’t or you have any questions feel free to send them my way.
Okay, so while most people would side with the idea that Sky saved Bloom, I’m a bit iffy on it. I don’t think he saved her, I think he inspired her to fight to save herself, which is consistent with Bloom’s overall theme in the show —she’s always reminded that she has the power to save herself. She’s in control of her destiny.
In my personal unprofessional opinion, I think the difference isn’t as exciting as most would want it to be. It’s magic. Bloom has healing magic she can use on herself. Sky does not.
I’m sure while being turned, Bloom fought to regain control. She’s a fighter. Even while trapped inside her own mind, she’s going to fight. Let’s be real, though. Darkar was insanely strong. Because of that, I feel Bloom reached a point where hopelessness inevitably took over, and she just had to believe her friends would save her and surrendered herself to the darkness. But then, Sky reaches out to her. He proceeds to give a love speech that under the surface is actually a pep talk. While he’s admitting his love, he’s using that as a way of asking her to fight. He’s using it to give her something to fight for. And that’s enough to reignite that fire in her that allows her to break the spell and regain control. So while his love may have inspired his speech, his love did not save her. Bloom always had the power to break free, she just needed to be reminded that she did.
(And while I know in the RAI dub she’s able to heal herself and everyone, I think that’s bullshit. When she saved Sky she collapsed on the floor from how much power she used. While she does have Charmix which boosts her powers a bit, I don’t believe she could’ve done all of that on her own. There’s no way she could’ve done that without collapsing again. I think she enlisted a little help. But that’s another theory for another conversation.)
Now in regards to Sky with Baltor’s love potion, that’s a different ball game. But let’s also give Sky a little credit, because he actually does hesitate in the Dark Sky episode! Depending on which version you watch, they signal it differently. In the 4Kids dub, he makes a small noise of realization. In the RAI dub, there’s a moment of silence. However, after both of these, he squeezes his eyes shut and kinda shakes his head when he starts talking, like he’s trying to fight something off. I think Bloom did get through to him, but there are two huge differences between his situation and Bloom’s. First off, she doesn’t know he’s under a spell. When Sky did it, he knew she was under Darkar’s spell. I’m sure if she knew then that he was spelled by Baltor, she would’ve tried doing what he did for her —give the pep talk he needs to realize he has the power to fight it— and done it with more ferocity like he did. I think she thought he might be under a spell for a second, during the silence. You see a bit of hope in her eyes, like she mentioned their love to see if it would work her him like it did for her. But even then, it would not have worked. Which brings us to Difference #2: While he could break into a moment of lucidity, he doesn’t have healing magic to break free from Baltor’s mark. When Sky reached out to Bloom, you can see she has a couple moments of lucidity, and she’s able to fight the darkness enough during those times and use her healing magic to save herself. Sky does not have healing magic. He doesn’t have magic at all. He’s pretty much stuck in a state of waiting until someone with healing magic can save him (cue Stella and her Fairy Dust).

Why Can’t We Be Friends || Ariana, Layla, & Orion
TIMING: Before Ariana lost her name PARTIES: @laylacooke @3starsquinn & @letsbenditlikebennett SUMMARY: Layla had a fun day planned with Rio and Ariana, but notices the awkwardness between them.
Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. The three had planned this a few weeks ago, long before things had completely blown up in Orion’s face. Or rather, before his lies became public knowledge. It was so easy to be mad at Athena. So simple to blame her for this. But it wasn’t that clean cut. Rio was more to blame than her, as much as he hated to admit it. Ariana was right, he should have been the honest one. It shouldn’t have come from Athena. Rio knew that much. Rio was supposed to be the good one.
Rio considered calling it off. Ariana wouldn’t want to see him, and being there would just make things awkward. But then again, maybe Ariana wasn’t going to come either. She was the one that wanted space from him, so if she cancelled plans with Layla, then Layla would be left all alone. Rio didn’t want that. So, maybe against his better judgement, Rio slipped on a hoodie and ventured out into the heat to meet up with Layla. And.... oh no. Ariana was there. Rio stood at a distance for a while, contemplating whether or not he should ditch. He even got so far as to spin around and walk in the opposite direction before he felt guilty and turned himself back around to march up to them. “Uh- Hey guys. Sorry if I’m late.” Rio was staring at the ground, fiddling with his hoodie sleeve as he tried to think of excuses to get out of this. For Ariana’s sake. “How’s it going?”
If Ariana said the thought of cancelling this whole thing with Layla and Rio hadn’t crossed her mind, she’d be lying. With everything in her own life seemingly crumbling around her, Ari knew she hadn’t exactly made a lot of time for Layla. She’d seemed so excited about this outing that Ari felt a pang of guilt for wanting to cancel in the first place. Even if she was having a hard time moving past Rio not telling her about the hunter thing, she could at least try and put on a happy face for the day. All she had to do was not think about it. Or Athena. Or Ace. Or Lydia. Or Winn. Or Miles. Or the foreign thoughts running through her head. Fuck. She really was an actual disaster right now, but she sipped away at the iced coffee in her hand hoping to maintain some air of normalcy. With everything going on, she knew she hadn’t made as much time for her best friend as she should have been and boy did Layla seem excited to have a totally normal day. While they waited for Rio to show up, she piped up, “Oh, I read that Impossible Foods is going to start being sold in grocery stores soon. I actually like that one. Tastes like the real thing.”
It was hard for Ariana to wrap her head around keeping up with vegan news as a natural predator, but she was trying to get better at vegan cooking so she could make nice things for Layla. She could smell Orion approaching before she saw him. She caught the way he paused and contemplated even walking over. Part of her would have been relieved if he’d just walked away, but she knew it would upset Layla. Things were finally calming down for the other wolf a little bit and she wanted to give her the day she deserved. She waved awkwardly as she fought the instinct to clench her fists. “Hey, Rio.” Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. While it was more than apparent Rio wasn’t a threat to them, she still felt a familiar sting when she looked at him. She’d trusted him with so much and he hadn’t been able to do the same with her. “It’s going,” she answered, her voice strained before she turned to Layla, “So where to? Do we wanna grab food? Food sounds good… oh, or we could go to a movie and get a bunch of snacks. Yeah, a movie would be good!” Shit, she was definitely being squirrely and not doing a good job at pretending like this was all chill and okay.
“Really? You know I’m honestly surprised that you’ve been trying Vegan food. I mean considering you were raised on meat and full moons give way to even more meat, but I’m proud of you, Bestie.” She gave Ariana a good firm slap on the shoulder. Layla had needed this. She needed a day of not feeling like at any moment her life could turn to shit again. She had already been publicly humiliated by the cop that had arrested her at Veggie Tables in front of Evelyn. And in fact, if it hadn’t been for Evelyn, her lawyer, and Winn’s generous donation to get her out, she would have probably still been occupying a jail cell. And now with the news of Winn being in a coma, the young werewolf was starting to feel overwhelmed again. But she was determined to make this day good. She knew Ariana needed it. Figured Rio probably needed it. And when both her friends were now standing nearby the smile on her face spread even further.
“Hey Rio! O-M-G. I’ve been looking forward to this day for a while.” Turning to Ariana, she narrowed her eyes at the girl’s enthusiasm, before shrugging it off, “Since you’re so adamant about a movie, then I’m game. What about you Rio?” She turned to the boy. “I don’t know what’s playing though. I haven’t seen a movie in over a year.” It was true. Life had drastically changed for the girl, but nevertheless, with some normalcy finally showing its face, Layla was down for movies, snacks, and just spending the day with her two best friends.
Okay. Things were okay. Or well, okay-ish. Orion could tell that things weren’t all there. Ariana wasn’t as carefree as she usually was, and while Rio’s natural state of being was nervous he had actually calmed quite a bit around Ariana and Layla. Or at least he had prior to this whole ordeal. Now, Rio wasn’t sure how he felt. The only thing he knew for sure was that he felt guilty. Very, very guilty. But Ariana had shown up and that was a good thing, right? Maybe the two had a chance after all. “A movie!” Rio chimed in happily. That would mean that he didn't have to talk a lot, which meant that he had little chance of saying the wrong thing or embarrassing himself. It was perfect. “I’m so in for a movie. Whatever is out. Doesn’t matter. I’ll watch anything. Should we go now?” Rio was ready to flat out run for the place if it meant they could get in the theatre and not have to talk for two or more hours. “Hanging out is so fun!”
Ariana could not be more grateful that Layla seemed to be clueless to the tension between them. Sure, Rio was usually a little bit spazzy, but he seemed to have calmed down around her as they spent more and more time together. Now it was back to square one. Probably worse than square one. A movie would make it easy enough to ignore the tugging feeling in heart. He seemed so uneasy that she just almost wanted to say ‘fuck it, it’s fine,’ but she didn’t quite feel that way yet. She still felt hurt by the whole situation and couldn’t just look past her own feelings just yet. Instead, she somehow mirrored his spazziness. “Oh yeah, there’s like always some sort of superhero movie out. Hot people kicking ass in tight suits? Sign me up, fam.” She grabbed on to Layla’s arm, hurriedly trying to direct them toward the movie theater.
Okay, what the hell was going on? One person seeming spazzy was okay, but by the way Rio and Ariana both spouted out words followed by Ari grabbing her arm and tugging her towards the theater, the teenager stopped moving and pulled her arm away from the smaller wolf. Crossing her arms, she narrowed her eyes and sent a hard glare between the two of them, “Okay. What the fuck is going on? One of you acting spazztastic is one thing, but both of you?” She wanted to know. She could smell the desperation coming off of both of them, and Layla refused to move until someone told her something, “My ass isn’t moving from this very spot until one of you, or both of you, explain.” She let her eyes move from Rio to Ariana and then back to Rio feeling like he’d be the one to crack under pressure if she just stared at him long enough.
The goal had been simple. Hang out with Layla and Ariana. Have fun. Be friends. The drama between Ariana and Orion had definitely been a detour. The drama with the whole love potion business might have made things even more awkward. But despite how the hunter thing was most definitely Rio’s fault, she hoped that Ariana didn’t fault him too much for something that he couldn’t control. But if the three of them could have made it to the movies then they could have at least enjoyed that in silence. But unfortunately, Layla had to be observant enough to realize that the two weren’t being normal. Or at least Ariana wasn’t being normal. Rio was usually a spazz. Layla eyed the both of them, settling on Rio and his face lit up like a stoplight. “Um…” He began, unable to be any more literate than that for a long moment. What did he even say? He had been involved, but this was Ariana’s anger. He had no right to try to explain that away to Layla. “I uh- there was just a situation. I don’t know how to explain it well. We’ve-” He cut himself off. He wanted to say they had moved past it to make Layla more comfortable, but had they? It didn’t seem right. “I mean, I messed up.”
It shouldn’t have come as a surprise that Layla was able to tell something was off. Ariana was rarely, if ever, spazzy. Lying had never been her strong suit though. Normally, she wouldn’t have even bothered, but she wanted Layla to have a good day with her friends. She stopped alongside her friends and let out an exasperated sigh. “Layla, it’s fine. I’m just mad at Rio for something that happened. We can still go watch our movie and go about our day,” she explained, hoping Layla wouldn’t push. Even if she was upset with Rio, she wasn’t about to out him as a hunter. That wasn’t her secret to tell and she at least trusted he wasn’t about to hurt any werewolves now. She was still slightly annoyed that Athena had made it sound like he was, but she knew their relationship was strained. She had enough going on outside that to not dwell on it entirely too much. Especially not when they still had to coach soccer camp together everyday. She frowned slightly and looked between Rio and Layla. “We don’t have to do this right now.”
She could tell Rio wanted to say something, and she was hoping he would. But when he clammed up, Layla turned her attention to Ari. Her eyes were still narrowed and suspicion was apparent. Whatever was going on, she was going to get to the bottom of it. How could she go in and enjoy a movie and sit between two people that were angry with one another? There was always the option of forcing them to sit together, but she knew Ariana could get feisty, and she didn’t want to see Orion get hurt, “No, we don’t. But we’re going to. What makes you think I want to sit in awkward silence for two hours while you glare at each other with me shoved in the middle? So one of you better start talking or you remember that version of myself you met about a month ago? She’s gonna return.” No, Layla wouldn’t bring back dark!Layla, but maybe if she gave her two friends a little kick in the ass, they might actually decide to come clean.
Orion sighed and rubbed at his temples. This wasn’t what he wanted for today, though he couldn’t imagine why he hadn’t seen something like this happening. He should have listened to his gut and called things off with Layla. Showing up was only going to cause more stress with Ariana and ruin her and Layla’s day which was the last thing that he wanted to do. What a freaking idiot. He crossed his arms, letting out two humorless and drawn out laughs at Layla “Ha ha. Very funny.” He didn’t even know where to begin explaining this, because it was so deeply rooted in fears that felt too deep to explore in what was supposed to be a casual hang. “Ariana didn’t know. About me being a hunter.” Rio mumbled, tapping his fingers nervously against his arms. He felt like pacing, to get rid of some of their nerves. Or maybe to avoid making any eye contact. Probably both. “And I messed up and didn’t tell her. And it’s more complicated than that but what matters is I didn’t disclose information that I should have.”
Of course Layla couldn’t just let this be. The last thing she wanted to do was air out their fight to Layla, but here they were apparently. Ariana wished she had just bailed on this hang out. “Layla, look, it’s not a big deal,” she tried to reason, but then Rio was beginning to explain and mentioned he was a hunter as if Layla already knew. It dawned on her that Layla did in fact already know about Rio which only served to make her angrier. Was she literally the only friend he didn’t tell? What was it about her that made her seem less trustworthy? He’d had no problem telling their other friends, but let her walk blindly into telling Athena everything. Her fists clenched and her face reddened. “Wait, are you saying she knew,” she questioned with an angry edge in her voice. “Am I seriously the only person you didn’t tell? You were totally okay telling everyone else, but knowingly let me tell your sister everything? I stayed with you guys for a week and you didn’t feel like you could tell me after I told you everything? Am I missing something or are we not actually even friends?” Her knuckles grew white the more she balled up her fists and she could feel angry tears pricking at the corners of her eyes.
And there it was! The cat was out of the bag, and boy was it out, “Wait...hold up.” Her eyes darted from Rio to Ariana back to Rio again, “Are you telling me that Ariana didn’t know you were a hunter? Like after all this time? And your sister...the creepy twin, no offense, told Ariana you were a hunter?” She paused for a moment. “Well shit, Rio, no wonder she’s pissed. She had to deal with Athena. Has...to deal with Athena.” She looked to Ariana, “And he didn’t tell me he was a hunter. I kind of figured it out when he saved my life from a vampire in the woods a couple of months ago. It just never came up in conversation, so I never thought to say anything about it. And even if it did, it kind of wasn’t my place.” She shrugged uneasily, hoping it would relieve some of Ariana’s anger, if she knew how Layla had found out. Knowing about Athena was a completely different story though, “Look. I’m not taking sides, but Rio had every right to withhold that information, just like you have the right to withhold the knowledge of what you are.” She looked back to Orion, “And I’m not saying you were in the wrong for keeping that private, but I'm a prime example. If you’ve got a good heart, even as a hunter, this one’s not going to fault you for it. She still accepted me after I came clean about my past.” The teenager sighed softly, “If you guys want some time alone to talk this out, then we can hang out another day. I just don’t like seeing my two best friends fight. I love you both, okay?” She put her hand on Rio’s shoulder and then Ariana’s. Using some of her wolf strength, she pulled them in close to her for a hug, before releasing them, “Just let me know what you want me to do. If you think I need to stay, then I can stay. If you want me to go. Then I’ll go.”
Layla was right in the middle of this now. It was the opposite of what Orion had wanted to happen when he had shown up this morning. And despite Layla’s best efforts, Rio wasn’t sure he agreed. He did owe it to Ariana. There were too many opportune moments. When Ariana told him about her. When he found out about Celeste. When Ariana told him about her crush on Athena or told her that she was going to tell Athena about being a werewolf. This hadn’t just been about Rio’s secret, but Ariana’s safety. Something that Rio wanted so desperately to believe that he was looking out for when he didn’t tell her. Was that really why he had withheld the truth from her? “I didn’t tell anyone.” Rio didn’t want to defend himself. He just wanted to tell the truth. “It doesn’t fix things. And I know it doesn’t change that I should have. But everyone that knows about me... well I didn’t exactly tell them. They just sorta found out.” Ricky had been the only one that he had ever actually gotten the chance to tell directly, and even that had been after a pretty suspect event that gave the fact away. Rio accepted the hug from Layla, welcoming the warmth of the embrace but unable to shake the fear he had that Ariana was going to hate him forever. “I don’t want to mess up your plans. Honestly. It was dumb of me to come today anyways. I should have given You more space.” Honestly, what had he expected? “I think you two should go. I can head home.”
Even if what they were saying made sense, Ariana found it hard to really take any of it in. Anger and hurt just seemed to be bubbling over the surface. She had no idea what to even do with it. She shot Layla a glare, “Athena isn’t creepy. And yes, she told me about her and Rio both being hunters. She was at least honest with me.” Logically, she didn’t want to hurt Rio, but she felt herself beginning to lose control of her temper either way. “I would have understood. You knew my sister was a hunter. You knew I was talking to your sister and you just-- You don’t trust me? Is that?” Her cheeks were turning cherry red and she couldn’t seem to relax her hands. “Rio, that doesn’t make it any better that everyone had to figure it out. You can’t just not talk to people about important things because you’re afraid to have actual fucking conversations. That’s not fair to anyone.” She crossed her arms over her chest and realized she was on the verge of tears. She didn’t much feel like hanging out with either of them anymore. “Look, you two enjoy your movie or whatever. I don’t feel like hanging out anymore,” she finished and stormed off before either of them could protest. While she was only mildly annoyed with Layla, she couldn’t shake the feeling of anger towards Rio. They’d have a better afternoon without her and she was eager to return home to Luna.
Things hadn’t quite gone as Layla had hoped, and she had felt like she had opened her mouth too soon. Her heart ached for her friends, and she now felt guilty for making things worse. It was the glare from Ariana that hurt the most, and she wanted to protest her friendship with Athena. Tell her friend how the girl had threatened Layla’s life if she hurt Frankie, despite being egged on to shift by both Athena and Nell. But when Rio threatened to leave and the smaller of her two friends stormed off, the redhead knew their day for fun was over. Sighing and looking at the ground, she took a moment to think, before making up her mind, “Well, you know what? Why don’t we all just go home. I don’t really feel like seeing a movie anymore anyways. Sorry, Orion, and I’m sorry for opening my big mouth.” Giving him a gentle squeeze on the shoulder and a sad smile, she walked off not sure if going home was the right option, but not really feeling in the mood for hanging out regardless of where her feet took her.
Why wasn’t Orion surprised? As usual, he had screwed things up. Ariana was right. Rio didn’t get to keep friendships that weren’t based on the truth. Whether he followed the hunter heritage or not, how did he expect to build a relationship with others when he couldn’t even be honest about himself? Ariana stormed off first. With Layla following shortly after, her plans and the mood are completely ruined by their conversation. The two of them could have had a fun day if Rio hadn’t shown up. But that was his whole shtick wasn’t it? Ruining things was what he was best at. It was only a matter of time before he drove everyone around him away. He slumped his shoulders, waving a goodbye to Layla before finding the nearest bench and crumpling onto it. He wished he had done things right. He wished he had friends to hang out with today. He wished he hadn’t screwed things up.

Lewin
On the northern edge of the Tournament Grounds sits a Gilnean carriage reinforced by a skeleton of elementium, drawn by an armor-obfuscated horse and bearing lanterns aglow with a violet light. The Puckish Scoundrel is here, and ready to sell you all sorts of shady things! Of course, if anyone asks, all the proprietor sells is potions, elixirs, poultices, and other various alchemical supplies. Absolutely -no- stolen goods here either, no sir. Why, that would be illegal and immoral and all that drivel.
