Dc x dp idea 93
Ra forces Talia to sacrifice her son to the ghost king. With his obvious re-awakening he most solidify the deal. It’s how he was gifted the Lazarus water in the first place.
Newley crowned 15 year old Danny did not want this child. Like at all. He’s already dealing with parents who want to tear him apart. That reveal didn’t go well at all.
Danny couldn’t take care of himself let alone a stabby 6 year old. The only good thing is he snatched the kid before he was killed by his scary mom and stinky grandfather.
By ancient law. This child belonged to him. Not only that, the child was bound to obey him. Found that part out on accident. He was tired of the murder attempts and promptly told him to knock that off be quiet and sit down. He’s ashamed to admit it took him at least two hours to realize Damian couldn’t talk or stand up.
Yea.
He’s taken to internal dialogue after that little hiccup. He later learned sign language had no effect. Apparently it had to be verbal. It’s not his say to order anyone around. He doesn’t care what the crown means. They were fine without pariah they’ll be fine without him.
At least while he’s still half alive. Despite what the council says he doesn’t need a legal guardian. He’s perfectly fine homeless.
So here he was with 9 year old child and on the run from the government, his parents, and the royal council.
Now when a man in a trench coat tries to expel the ecto-ghost to free the “boy” and the child. Well. He asked for help.
This leads to a dna test. Danny ignored how he had been told Batman by Damian it was of no help. Danny hadn’t even meant to ask, knowing Damian would be forced to answer. His mother must of lied to the poor thing.
With a shocking result, the father was Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne can reclaim his son, but Danny can’t simply hand him over. Something of equal or greater value has to be exchanged.
Obviously Bruce Wayne is happy to make a deal.
Danny just goes. Well either i need a legal guardian as the ghosts are on my butt about it and my parents want me dead. Or. A government organization taken down for trying to eradicate his species.
He gets both.
Damian and Danny refuse to tell anyone why Damian was sacrificed to him.

Byrd: Dad? Oscar: Morning, bud.. miserable day, huh? I’m not looking forward to packing up in the rain. Oscar: Did you sleep okay? Byrd: Erm… Oscar: GO GET YOUR HEARING AIDS! [Byrd fidgeted guilty, implying that he’d lost yet another pair] Byrd: [sobs] Why do I have to be deaf without them, papa-.. s’not fair. [Oscar held Byrd tightly, stroking his back until his sobs subsided somewhat] Oscar: LET’S SEE WHAT WE CAN DO… [Oscar plonked Byrd outside as he rummaged through his bags, eventually producing a backup pair of hearing aids] Oscar: Better? [Byrd nodded gratefully, burying his snotty nose in his father’s hair as he threw his arms around him] Oscar: Maybe you ought to think twice about learning SSL. Byrd: What’s the point? No one else knows it. Oscar: Robin does, and we all know bits n’ pieces, don’t we? [Byrd grumbled disinterestedly] Oscar: I think it’s long overdue, pal-.. what if we all learn it together? Properly this time. Byrd: I guess… Oscar: All I heard was yes. Byrd: Are you deaf too? Oscar: [snorts] C’mon, we’ll probably find the other pairs as we clear up. Wren: Daaaaad, it’s raining! Oscar: The faster we get goin’, the faster we’ll be in the car-.. I bet Wren can pack up faster than you. Byrd: [gasps] NO WAY! [rain pattering]

ive been thinking about hard of hearing steve, who started losing his hearing after starcourt, the scoops troops are the first to find out because of how attached they are, robin erica and dustin all insist on steve learning to sign but he's insecure about learning a new language so they slowly learn and start teaching him
after vecna, eddie gets adopted to their little group and starts picking up on the signs and learning on his own, still struggles to hold a conversation, esp with the likes of robin or dustin, but he atleast knows simple words and phrases enough to communicate, eddie also gets into the habit of signing ILY to steve before he leaves, except steve rarely studies asl on his own most of what he remembers is from robin/erica/dustin, who never thought to teach him that specific sign, so steve just thinks eddie is just being a metalhead throwing up a 'rock on' gesture, hes still absolutely endeared by eddie doing this but he doesn't realize that eddie saying he loves him everyday, what follows is a ridiculous amount of pining where only steve doesn't know because everyone else know what that sign means, he only finds out because after gossiping with robin(who has tried to tell steve that its reciprocated) about eddie, erica interupts their convo by telling steve that eddie tells him he loves steve everyday (that clown is so obviously in love with you, how are you still pining? you're supposed to be a expert, steve?)
(edit 07/23: this fic is now on ao3)

✩°。⋆ Hello everyone ⋆。°✩ 18/08/24
This is my third day learning Dutch and I must say, I'm starting to already get confident in the language which is kind of a rare thing for me, as I usually am not someone who is really self-confident, but I still am sure that I am making a lot of mistakes while talking or writing.
✩°。⋆ What I did Today ⋆。°✩
Today I actually didn't have that much motivation to sit down and study, and I also watched only one video from the Dutch with Kim playlist, but I did a lot of research about the language on my phone and just translated a bunch of sentences from german to dutch and vice versa.
I focused mainly on my vocabulary and wrote some words down in my notebook, I also looked up some more verb conjugations.
I also stumbled upon something called "het betrekkelijk voornaamwoord" and researching about it kind of led me down a linguistic (?) rabbit hole.
In yesterday's post, I had also said that I would start adding snippets of me writing a paragraph in Dutch so that you too can see my progress and I have kept my promise. :>
(Could only write this much, but I will probably keep this section longer in the future as I learn more, and if you can speak Dutch and spot a mistake, please feel free to correct it in the comments!)
Thank you all for reading and goodbye! 💙

do swedish folks and finnish folks actually hate each other? what’s going on over there
sorta yeah, but its more one sided hatred from finland towards sweden. its obviously far more complicated than this short summary i am about to give, since this is about span of 500 years with lots of convoluted political shifts:
its basically because several hundreds years ago sweden just decided that this land belongs to them, and spent hundreds years essentially treating finnish people as uncivilized second class citizens who need to be educated to the good christian ways of swedish people. even though this was quite long ago, it still has left quite a lot of resentment towards swedes (in modern days its usually just playful mockery about how swedes are supposedly so much better than us rather than genuinely hatred).

How to Learn a New Language: Simple Tips for Success
Learning a new language can be both fun and challenging. It opens doors to new cultures, experiences, and even career opportunities. If you’re ready to take on this journey, here are some quick tips to help you succeed.
1. Set Clear Goals
Decide why you want to learn the language—whether for travel, work, or personal growth. Having a clear goal will keep you motivated and on track.
2. Immerse Yourself
Surround yourself with the language. Watch movies, listen to music, and read in the language as much as you can. This exposure will help you absorb vocabulary and sentence structures naturally.
3. Practice Speaking Early
Start speaking the language from the very beginning, even if it’s just a few words. Practice with native speakers or use language-learning apps that focus on conversation.
4. Be Consistent
Consistency is key. Study a little every day instead of cramming all at once. Daily practice helps keep the language fresh in your mind.
5. Embrace Mistakes
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes—they’re part of learning. The more you practice, the better you’ll get, so stay positive and persistent.
6. Use Multiple Resources
Try different tools like apps, flashcards, podcasts, and grammar books. Mixing resources keeps learning interesting and well-rounded.
Conclusion
Language learning takes time and effort, but by setting clear goals, practicing daily, and embracing mistakes, you’ll improve steadily. Enjoy the process, and soon, you’ll be able to communicate confidently in a new language!
