There were people in the world who were taught by James Joyce, John Keats, WH Auden, Tennyson, who listened to Virginia Woolf's lectures... Who sat with Shakespeare to discuss his plays and how to present them, who saw Sylvia Plath everyday and who were Emily Dickinson's neighbors. There were people in the world who just knew Dostoevsky as an eccentric dude, who saw Tolstoy everyday and met Kafka for tea. I just cannot wrap my head around this lost and forgone privilege.
