Rise.
What if Kaede couldn't take the pressures of becoming a priestess and living in Kikyo's shadow?
What if she decided to do something about it?

I can't believe I could only add 30 tags.
Tumblr media
Good evening, Tumblr user.
In front of you is a post asking everyone to list their favorite female Blorbos in the tags, stating that OP is tired of the focus on men in fandom.
You must participate and tag all of your favorite female characters.
If you include any characters who were canonically written as male in your tags regardless of reason, the reverse bear trap attached to your head will activate.
Begin.

Kurogane was the goat, no doubt. Wise. About that action. No hesitation. Refused an order to murder an innocent woman. Stepped up against Lady Kaede (who was right, by the way). The immovable object Lord Jiro did not deserve.
“Lord Jiro, prepare to die. I, Kurogane, will join you.”

Okay, I had not watched this movie before, but this looked fascinating, so I looked it up. And, um. Lady Kaede is incredible? Villain, yes, obviously. But incredible.
Her (spoilery) last scene:
youtube
You foolish woman! Your vain schemes have destroyed us! And her here, yes dear. That was the entire point. My own family were slaughtered and I was forcibly married into this one, all I needed was for the lord to put himself in a position where I could do this, and of course I jumped on it. I want you all slaughtered. So do what you like, I’ve gotten everything I want.
Ran is loosely inspired by King Lear, some gender changes and culture changes aside, which puts Lady Kaede broadly speaking into Edmund’s instigator role (with elements of Regan and Cornwall), but honestly? She would have eaten Edmund for breakfast. Edmund still, at the end of it, wanted love. Lady Kaede wanted her enemies dead, and was willing to die to make that happen.
And if she had to arrange the murder of a genuinely innocent woman in the exact same position as her to accomplish it? Eh. You can’t make an omelette without breaking some eggs.
Stone cold and vengeful, Lady Kaede.

❛ if i didn't know any better, i'd say you were jealous. ❜ - @doomedprotags , naoki is calling her out JHDSADJHDSA. Don't worry girl, he loves u all those demons who try to charm lucifer's second in command to get on his good side won't work !!!
{ Dialogue Prompts }
@doomedprotags !!!
"N....N-Nuh-uh....." Her face is turned away from him, but the rising blush on her pouty cheeks was already evident. No, she definitely wasn't jealous or anything... certainly not of that Lilim who was being far too touchy feely with Naoki for her comfort. She already doesn't like how those accursed lady demons look far more attractive than she does... at least, that's what she thinks. Naoki most definitely saw the way Kaede was glaring daggers at that demon, who was surely sneering at Kaede, knowing full well how jealous she was making her.
But naturally, that demon's attempts to charm Naoki didn't work; plus, they obviously try to charm him with the attempt to easily kill him, which was already a very high impossibility on its own. That's what made Kaede different those demons: she didn't need to use a move to charm him. She does so with her own natural charm, and out of genuine love for him...!
And she knows this, too, so she's aware that it's quite silly to get so easily riled up like that. But she can't help it: she doesn't like those sexy lady demons getting all touchy with her demon king....
Now wrapping her arms around him, she's burying her face in his chest, while glancing up at him. She's still got that, pouty, blushy look on her face. "Muuuu!!! If any of those stupid demon ladies try charming you again, I'm gonna crack their skull open with my frying pan! I don't like them getting all touchy with you...!"
Tumblr media
Then she's fully burying her face in his chest again, so she can mutter more quietly: ".....o-only I'm allowed to charm you like that......"

though it's my Favorite Game in the franchise, i fully understand not liking UDG because:
it's Dark even for DR
it's got some flat-out Supremely Nasty parts/jokes
it's not completely necessary to understand the entire Hope's Peak Arc
the gameplay is meh
you're not a fan of Toko (even though i think she's made much more relatable and lovable in this game)
you think Genocider should have been held more accountable for all the things
etc etc. these are all valid to me!
...however, there are definitely folks out there who just don't like it because misogyny. not really here on Tumblr, but definitely Elsewhere. i see it a lot on YouTube for instance.
not to start Discourse or anything, just something i noticed. very surprising to me too, considering this is the franchise for me that just exudes Only Women Are Remotely Competent energy, but. y'know
