Middle School Monday: The Swifts: A Dictionary of Scoundrels by Beth Lincoln, with illustrations by Claire Powell 

Shenanigan Swift is a little sister and a troublemaker. Growing up with her sisters Felicity and Phenomena, plus Uncle Maelstrom and Arch-Aunt Schadenfreude, Shenanigan definitely lives up to her name by making lots of mischief. But since everyone in the Swift family was named by a random word in the Family Dictionary, is it possible that Shenanigan has no control over what kind of person she is?

Shenanigan is obsessed with finding the treasure that was rumored to be hidden in their house by her Grand-Uncle Vile. Unfortunately, everyone else in the family wants to find the treasure, too. And when the Swift Family Reunion begins, there will be many more family members all searching at the same time. But when one of those relatives pushes Arch-Aunt Schadenfreude down the stairs, things get a lot more complicated. Will Shenanigan be able to locate the treasure AND find the criminal in their midst?

Give this book to older kids and younger teens who enjoy smart protagonists, twisty mysteries, and suspenseful stories!

My favorite thing to add to my text post is Dick remembering everything that's retconned. So

Jason: sometimes I wish Bruce never adopted me

Dick: I almost adopted you

Dick: back when you were a blonde acrobat, you had the same trauma as me, I wanted to adopt you.

Jason: when I was WHAT?

Dick: yeah, you were menace back then too-

Jason: BRUCE DICK IS ACTING WEIRD! HE'S SAYING I USED TO BE BLONDE AND AN ACROBAT!

Bruce: he does that sometimes

Dick: Bruce remember when Alfred didn't exist yet and it was just you and me?

Bruce: sure chum *pats head*

Dick: what is Julie doing now?

Bruce: *whispering above Dicks head* I have no idea who that is.

Bruce: No idea why don't you go look her up?

Dick: ok *leaves*

Jason: what the hell?

the most comphet thing that charles does in episode 5 isn’t even when he’s like “nah they’re just mates” or him projecting onto hunter and brad because they’re manly men and he wants them to be Good Guys bla bla bla none of that.

no, the most comphet thing in this episode is that charles rowland, light of my life, owner of my heart, saw these two scruffy scrappy stinky burly fuckboy jocks and then looked at himself, this genderfuck punk twink with the prettiest most delicate features i’ve ever seen and eyeliner and earrings and bisexual ass jacket, and edwin payne, the most clockable homosexual that has ever lived or died, the quintessential twink, with his stupid little gay bowtie and gloves and fancy jacket and button up shirt and little gay posh voice and the cunty feminine way he walks and gestures and edwardian vocabulary and syntax and everything about him and said, “they’re just like us, right edwin?” babygirl you are so delusional.

i watched the kid detective because of your edit, thank you, it’s such an amazing film!!! and tbh i was kindaaaa hoping to see an abe x caroline one piece from you while watching

so glad you liked it!

the thought of abe/caroline did present itself to me, lol, i will not lie.... i think i got caught up writing other stuff (i'm always mired in so many drafts) but i might circle back to it. something about abe not being able to fully grow up, and caroline having grown up before her time, and how they both deconstruct the whole concept of well-adjusted "adult"..... smth to think about!
