It’s been a while since I’ve ranted about an AU idea, so here’s my take on a Detective Conan SpyxFamily AU (ft. rare pair Kaito x Shiho)

Additional stuff about this AU under the cut!! ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

-This takes place in the same universe as Spy x Family so the pressure to marry to avoid the suspicion of being a spy is still very much there.

-Everyone who was a teenager has been aged up to their twenties.

-Shinichi was planning to propose to Ran before he disappeared.

-Aoko is married to Hakuba. She fell out of love with Kaito because she felt he was always too distant (he was too focused on being Kaito Kid and getting revenge that he didn’t have time for friends).

-Aoko and Hakuba are still friends with Kaito. Hakuba still suspects him of being Kaito Kid.

-Kaito had a reputation for being eccentric and wild so everyone who knows him is glad he finally decided to “settle down.”

-Aoko is suspicious of Haibara and wants to make sure she really loves Kaito (a role similar to Yuri in SxF)

-Jii takes on the role of Franky in this AU and is often Conan’s babysitter.

-Haibara was raised in the Org and doesn’t really understand how to act normal, similar to Yor, explaining why she agreed to this arrangement so easily.

-The detective boys all attend Eden Academy and have very influential parents.

-Ai is the ultimate tsundere when it comes to Kaito and enjoys messing with him (though her sense of humor is very deadpan and dry).

-Ai feels the need to give Conan a great childhood to make up for the one she never had, and also because she feels guilty that her involvement with him will ruin his life. Conan is actually terrified of her because he suspects she is an Org. spy and reads all of her genuine attempts as malicious. Ai is disappointed that he didn’t warm up to her right away but not surprised.

-Neither, Shinichi, Kaito, or Shiho had a loving family growing up. Kaito’s dad died when he was young and his mom left him alone, Shinichi’s parents were neglectful and left him alone at a young age, and Shiho was raised in the Black Organization as a tool rather than a human. This arrangement, while fake, allows them to experience the loving, “normal,” domestic life they never had. The three do eventually grow very close.
