Once again, as an Alabamian I would like to apologize for Tommy Tuberville, the former Auburn coach and current U.S. senator who is dumber than a sack of wet mice—

In an Alabama Daily News interview after the election, Tuberville said that the European theater of World War II was fought "to free Europe of socialism" and erroneously that the three branches of the U.S. federal government were "the House, the Senate, and the executive." He also said that he was looking forward to raising money from his Senate office, a violation of federal law.

Please review the lengthy “Tenure” section of his Wikipedia page as to why I hate him, for reasons including but not limited to: voting against the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act; claiming that Democrats are “pro-crime” and want reparations for descendants of enslaved people “because they think the people that do the crime are owed that,” what the fuck; being an election denier and voting against a January 6th commission; being a climate change denier; being transphobic as fuck (a whole section); famously holding military promotions hostage over the issue of abortion availability for service members (yeah, he’s THAT guy); denying that white nationalists are “inherently racist” (“I call them Americans”); and calling Zelenskyy a dictator and supporting Putin TWO MONTHS AGO. Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs plans to cancel $2 billion in medical debt for up to 1 million residents. This is the biggest medical debt cancellation proposal in the country. The Governor plans to use $30 million in federal funds to buy and cancel the debt with RIP Medical Debt.

At least two other states — Connecticut and New Jersey — have moved to erase medical debt owed by their residents, in addition to a growing number of municipal and county governments across the nation.

Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs uses 30 million dollars in funds given to the state by President Biden's American Rescue Plan Act to cancel medical debt for a million Arizonans.

Since medical debt is often sold for pennies on the dollar $30 million can be used to buy and cancel 1.5 to 2 billion dollars worth of debt.

For the record? I voted. I voted early. Fuck the electoral college. Fuck anyone who voted for the Republicans. And honestly? Fuck the folks who voted third party in this election. I am not going to debate this with anyone.

For folks who are not aware, especially if they are not from the US, for the Presidential election it is not the general vote that decides this. There is this bullshit system called the Electoral College that actually decides it and it is an awful holdover from slaveholding times. So while it will be easy to point fingers and say “look at who they put in the white house” there have been a NUMBER of elections in my lifetime where the general vote (so the raw numbers of who voted for who) does not match who actually gets the white house because the fuckheads focus on key states and if they win those then who cares what the actual votes say.

As a side note? fuck anyone who had the ability to vote and didn’t.

12/29/2024 Update: March on Washington, D.C. January 3-5, 2025!!!

Hello, everyone, and thank you so much to everyone who's involved in this fight to protect and save all democracies and free people's in the world from a second donald j. trump presidency where he's clearly aligned with the dictators of the world to give all of Europe to putin and actually attempt to take Mexico, Canada, Panama, and Greenland by force.

But all hope isn't lost. The Marc Elias situation has gone to some really weird places, so he may decide he's not going to help at all. The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) situation is still strong. I've teamed up with Jessica Denson (a woman who defeated donald trump in court on behalf of herself and a bunch of other abused donald trump staff/employees) and she's teamed up with Laurence Tribe, Glenn Kirschner, CREW and Noah Bookbinder, John Bonifaz, and every constitutional scholar and law expert she can find via her "Lights On!" YouTube and Bluesky presence.

Jessica Denson put out a call for help to organize class action civil litigation and organized marches last weekend. NOWMARCH.ORG is the result of that call for help. Everything is coming together really fast. If you can make it to Washington, D.C. during January 3-5, 2025, this is your chance to make your voice heard in person to encourage Congress to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution on donald trump and j.d. vance to keep them out of office. If you can't make it in person, there will be online opportunities to make your voice heard.

I've been working Democratic House Leader Hakeem Jeffries Bluesky feed to inform everyone there about Section 3/14A, the truth about the SCOTUS Anderson ruling, and the January 3-5, 2025 march and call to action for days as well as working the overall Bluesky membership to get the word out to as many people as possible since I took a hiatus from Tumblr on November 27th.

As to the question on why this hasn't gotten traction on more social media accounts here on Tumblr and on Instagram, Facebook, and the like; this movement has been criticized as being a protest against the peaceful transfer of power. It's not a protest against a peaceful transfer of power; it's a protest to demand that both houses of Congress do as SCOTUS informed donald trump, in their unanimous Anderson ruling on 3/4/2024, that he must have done in order to be legally elected as President of the United States.

Due to everything I'm trying to accomplish over on Bluesky, I'm time-limited here at the moment, but I wanted to give everyone an update now that there's something big to announce.

Republicans have found a new way to try to curry favor with Donald Trump: by pushing to have his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, appointed to the Senate. A number of Republicans are cheering the idea that the daughter-in-law could take the place of Sen. Marco Rubio, who has been picked to serve as secretary of State. As in her current role co-chairing the Republican National Committee, Lara Trump’s main qualification appears to be that she married into the Trump family. “Lara Trump would be a GREAT Senator and represent Floridians well,” Sen. Rick Scott wrote on social media. Scott is reportedly the most prominent Republican pushing for Trump.

Alabama Sen. Katie Britt is also on board the nepotism train. She told Axios that Lara Trump would be a “tremendous pick” and said she “understands the America First agenda.” In a social media post, Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna demanded that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appoint the daughter-in-law. If Rubio leaves the Senate, the decision would fall to DeSantis, one of Donald Trump’s failed primary rivals who was derided as “pudding fingers” in a pro-Trump ad. Trump also floated other demeaning nicknames for DeSantis, including “Meatball Ron.” In an interview on Fox News, which has specialized for years in promoting unqualified Trumps for major positions, Lara Trump said she would “love to consider” taking the position. Lara Trump, who is married to Trump son Eric, was installed as the Republican National Committee’s co-chair earlier this year. She previously served as a producer and host of a pro-Trump video program run by the Trump campaign.

Katie Britt, the junior Republican senator from Alabama, delivered the GOP’s rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s address on Thursday. Her impassioned, breathless speech — delivered at times in an ASMR-esque whisper from what appeared to be her kitchen — ended up feeling more like a rejected audition tape for a supporting role on “Grey’s Anatomy” than the hard-hitting political sparring favored by Biden’s Republican critics.

Into the late hours of the night, Rolling Stone was inundated, sometimes completely unprompted, with messages from longtime GOP operatives, right-leaning pollsters, conservative Capitol Hill staff, MAGA lawyers, and even some senior members of Trump’s own 2024 campaign absolutely torching Britt’s absurdly over-dramatic rebuttal.

“What the hell am I watching right now?” a Trump adviser asked, mid-Britt remarks.

“Creepy,” one of the Republican pollsters noted.

A lawyer working in the Trump orbit says the performance reminded them of public-access television, and a senior House congressional aide remarks that it was “cringe”-inducing to watch and likely destined to be turned into a “lame [Saturday Night Live] skit” this weekend.

“I’ll give Biden this — he at least gave a better speech than Katie Britt,” one national Republican consultant said bluntly.
