Are you and Cyril(justslowdown) still friends? I seem to remember you two used to do farm and dog stuff together? Apologies if I'm mistaken.
Cyril moved out to Oregon last year! so that's why you don't see us doing stuff together 🤣

I was tagged in 15 questions for 15 mutuals by @tadpal
I'm tagging @no-lava @salamancialilypad @justslowdown @colossalcryptid @aggressivebutterflies @thatsthenorthstar, sorry I know that's only 6 people, I just don't have a lot of mutuals on my main.
1. Are you named after anyone?
Yeah. I was named after Katharine Hepburn. My middle name comes from my great grandma Gertrude's maiden name, and I'm planning to legally change my first name to my great grandfather's once I get the money and paperwork together.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Ooooh fuck, I cry a lot tbh. Last seriously bad cry was probably 3 weeks ago? It was around the time I left my job, it was super stressful. Since then, I think I cried most recently a little over a week ago. April 29th marked one year since we had to put our older dog down.
3. Do you have kids?
No! Thank god. I love kids, but only in small doses. I have a little sister who's 7 who I love to absolute death, but after a week visiting her, I feel like I need to just lay in a quiet dark room for a week straight.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I exaggerate and use hyperbole more than I use sarcasm. Like I use it occasionally, but when I'm going for comedic effect I tend to use the other tools in my arsenal.
5. What sports have you played?
I'm gonna be real, I have never been a sports girlie. If ballet counts, I did ballet when I was little.
6. What’s the first thing you notice about someone?
Hair and clothes. I guess, style in general. I'm decently faceblind, so faces don't tend to register much unless they're pretty distinctive. I'm very much a person that'll notice what you're wearing and stop to give you a compliment if I like it.
7. Eye Color?
Blue, but specifically, blue enough that I made having blue eyes part of my personality when I was younger
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
I like scary movies, but only as long as they have a happy ending. I don't like any movies that end where everyone's miserable and everything's shitty and sad.
9. Any special talents?
Uhmmmm, not really? Like, there's not really anything I can think of off the top of my head.
10. Where were you born?
I was born in a decent sized city in the Southeast US. I still live there, and it's not too bad a place to live, but as soon as you leave the city and surrounding suburbs shit gets real rural and real conservative, real quick.
11. What are your hobbies?
Honestly, I fly through hobbies like nobodies business, I have ADHD, so I tend to hyperfocus and then get bored really quickly. The majority of my hobbies tend to be crafty stuff, but hiking and other outdoorsy stuff is another thing I love. Fashion and style and design stuff is a big passion of mine. Right now, I've been locked in on houseplants and stuff related to them. I have maybe 20(?) or so, and I also have terrariums, and a planted aquarium.
12. Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have my sweet little Persie dog(follow us on @pomegranatepup), and I also have aquatic snails right now. I feel like all the plants I have should also count as having pets, but whatever.
13. How tall are you?
5'6"! I always try and lie and say I'm taller than that, but I'm really, really not. I'm mad about it because I feel like I definitely had the potential to be taller than I am.
14. Fave subject in school?
English! I was one of those gay bitches that'd be obsessed with their english teachers. My english teachers would have to give me advanced material because I'd finish and get bored so quickly with the english assignments we were given. I was also constantly reading books in class and getting in trouble for it. I know it's not the question, but my least favorite had to have been math, I failed algebra 1 like 3 times. Kind of embarassing, but I had undiagnosed dyscalcula, so whatever...
15. Dream job?
Right now, I want to someday open and run my own bakery or cafe, maybe a coffee shop. My current plan is to go to culinary school for pastry arts and go from there. I've been working as a baker for the past 4 years or so. Honestly, my real dream job is being a worthless layabout. If someone handed me 10 million dollars today, that would be amazing.

Rabbit in Urgent Need of Rehoming
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Theodore is a 9 month old neutered male rabbit located in the Greater Atlanta Area. We are currently looking to rehome him due to aggression issues with his current cagemate, Winston (pictured bottom left), though it is unclear at this point who is the aggressor. Theo is friendly, intelligent, energetic and loves to be the center of attention! We love him dearly but he has injured Winston, who is a senior rabbit, and we now worry for his health and safety. Anyone who is interested in his adoption may DM me or my fiance, @spread-evil. Theo will need an experienced rabbit owner and a companion of some sort, be they rabbit, cat or a human that is home often, as he is prone to mischief when bored. His adoption fee will be $50 in order to assure he goes to the best home possible, however we are willing to travel within the greater atl area and assist with travel fees for travel within Georgia and the surrounding states.
If you or anyone you know is looking for a rabbit, please please shoot us a message! If you prefer to communicate off tumblr, please DM either of us and we will provide our personal phone numbers to those who have serious interest.
Our situation is desperate and we will do what we can to accommodate anyone who believes they can provide him with a good forever home!

@justslowdown thank you so much for your post, because I just applied for a new phone. I have both Medicaid and EBT and a fixed income, and I knew this existed but I thought it would be a hassle to sign up and adhd did the rest. I've used mint mobile most recently and my year contract is up the end of the month. I couldn't have seen this post at a more perfect moment.
So I googled as the op suggests and found I can get a free phone, a $130 tablet for $10, and i need a new tablet. Instead of paying $15 a month as I did before, I'm just paying $12 a year for faster data and Amazon prime. My phone, SIM, talk, and data is free.
I just finished my application and I must wait to find out if I qualify, but I should. I qualify 3 different ways.
I've posted about how more people qualify for federal aid than know it, and how many programs there are. I want to specifically talk about free internet and cell service!
For free cell service and a phone if you need one (most let you keep using yours too), you need to make about $20,000 a year or less for a single person household.
For the Affordable Connectivity Program, which is internet specific and also will help discount phones, laptops, and tablets, the number is about $30,000.
For the ACP, if you're a student, receiving a Pell Grant qualifies you as well! I know some people were wondering if they could apply for SNAP/food stamps if they're in college. As long as you're over 18 and your legal residence isn't your family home (otherwise you'll need to include their income), absolutely.
Look up "[Your state] Lifeline providers" for cell, or "[Your state] Affordable Connectivity Program" for internet and help buying a tablet or computer. Do a little digging before picking a provider. In both states I've done this, some companies offered unlimited data, others didn't. You CAN receive both program assistance at the same time.
This might be an exception, but if you don't have all the documentation you need and it isn't feasible to get it together, it's still worth applying. I was approved and got a phone a couple weeks after doing a half-finished application, without utility bills or proof of address.

This dog melts me like butter.
He’s SO sweet, SO loving. Has a huge, goofy personality. He’s excited just to live life and do our normal daily things. He tries so hard to figure out what I want and give it to me. Loves new people. Loves dogs. Loves kids. Loves CATS.
I’ve never had a dog before that was just Mine. That I had to socialize, and exercise, and keep healthy. And sometimes as a first time dog owner I’m prone to feeling like I’m doing kind of a mediocre job 😅😅 but all of the people I’ve met that own Kappa’s siblings have been an amazing support system. Just talking to them and asking stupid questions feels so good!
@justslowdown really did it! Really made a litter of wonderful, special dogs. Really matched us all up so well. Kappa is EVERYTHING I asked for and some things I didn’t even know I wanted! Thank you Cyril ❤️

Would you mind talking a little about buhunds? I've only met one at a dog show. Fell in love. I spoke with her owner for a while and they sound like great dogs. Would love to hear your thoughts/experiences!
I don’t have as much experience with them as I’d like, I’ve only passed a few, so chances are I can’t give you much more to go on than you already have. :P
It’s also 3am, so open at your own risk i guess?
One of the main reasons I’m drawn to them is the historical aspect - the buhund was the defacto farm- and herding dog in Norway prior to the 1950s. At that point farms were growing (restructuring in the mid 1800s allowing people to farm for profit) and the buhund had seen a few decades of interest and standardization as the closest thing we had to a sheepdog, meeting an increasing need as flocks were expanded from tens of animals into hundreds. In the 50s our farming became effectivized, “sheepdogs from Scotland, used for things unknown to us in this country, such as keeping a flock so tight in free range that the farmer can walk into it and pick out his chosen sheep, or keeping the flock collected behind while the farmer walks in front” were introduced, and the buhund eventually lost his job.
There’s a blurred line between hunt and herd in buhund, and there always has been. These days we talk about a line divide, but in terms of herding drive being modified prey drive, I think we can say there’s been less modifying than in more uh... sophisticated herding breeds. Training guides from the 1930s talk about an ideal puppy as one that wants to run down and “get” sheep, and from there the dog must learn to halt and chase as instructed. Jon Sæland, Buhund saviour and sheep expert anno 1939, says that a dog that can go where he’s pointed and bark on command is a perfectly useful dog, while a dog that can chase sheep or goats and stop/return when called is well worth keeping. The way he presents them it would seem as though most - if driven at all - have the foundation for both herding and hunting, and much depends on how the dog is then shaped. All in all, it’s not presented as an independent sheepherder, but works in much the same way as the lapphunds. Not collie precision, but plenty of drive.
When I’ve asked buhund people about their experiences, it does seem like many underestimated the amount of hunting tendencies they’d encounter. I’m not sure if this is because their instincts are more likely to express as hunting behaviour (they’re good trackers, decent flushers, was in the same heap as elkhounds up until the 1900s, though i’m under the impression that they have more in common with the black than the grey) when left unshaped, or if they simply didn’t expect it because it’s marketed as a herder, or if there is actually a tilt in that direction.
When my mother was growing up buhunds were still the prevalent type on farms around here. Apparently, they were all named Stella.
At any rate, it’s not a collie. It’s supposed to be bold and clever, but loyal and dependant on their handler. It’s meant to be a good potato - can be used for anything. Mostly hiking companions these days.
Fuck, I want one even more now.

justslowdown replied to your post “ok rabbit people, i’ve almost lived here a year and i have put my...”
I mean, what's wrong with a colony style large cage that you pull individuals out of to breed?
Anyways, I love colonies, keep colony style pens and cages, and vastly prefer my colony pens/cages over the smaller individual cages for a lot of reasons. It's worth a try.
i had a ground colony of growouts for a few months a couple years ago and it ended with twenty-five mysteriously and violently dead rabbits.  never again.
i’m not a big fan of group pens even for does just because i like to have things organized and i don’t want my show animals getting in scuffles or them having kits in a shared space.  the last time i had a colony type hutch i also found i wasn’t able to keep as good of tabs on them health/injury wise and had situations like animals with extreme malocclusion or missing limbs fly under the radar until they were nearly butchering weight.
i like colony pens for the socialization aspect, but there’s just too many cons for me to consider it again.
