so saw your tweet about space. i mostly just think it's boring but i would love to see what you have to say about it !!
it is boring lmao. but i always really enjoy watching it. i have no deeper reason honestly i just like it. this is one that's very subjective i suppose, but i don't think it deserves to be disliked as much as it is, it's a good time!
it's very classic season one, opening on mulder and scully sitting on the steps outside eating sunflower seeds (being best friends) before they meet up with michelle generoo, mission control communications commander for NASA.
michelle believes that the space shuttle preparing to launch, on which her fiancé is shuttle commander, has been tampered with. she suspects that someone inside the space program might be sabotaging it, and has come to mulder and scully for help.
upon arriving in houston, mulder and scully cuddle up on this transpo to chat terrorism, the fall of the soviet union, and alien civilizations (best friend things)
when they make their way down the hall, mulder points out the posters that they're passing, recognizing the specific missions and telling her about them.
when they go to meet colonel belt, the man in charge of the launch, mulder giddily shakes his hand, grinning and stuttering as he introduces himself as a "big fan," tells belt that he was "a big hero" to him as a kid, and that he had stayed up all night when he was 14 to watch belt's space walk.
y'all!!!! this shit is so cute!!!!!
i love how much mulder just loves space, that this is something that's just for him, not about his family or rooted in anything traumatic. it's not even about the x-files or aliens, it pre-dates his interest in anything paranormal. it's just something that he loved as a kid.
when they go to leave, mulder says "it was an honor, sir," and scully quips "did you wanna get his autograph?" (best friends)
YOU GUYSSSSS i give up on the plot!! there is nothing to the plot of this episode!!! it's just mulder getting to go on a little field trip and i LOVE it!!!!
scully is so unbothered and unimpressed. mulder is giving michelle a thumbs up as though he is central to this space mission.
they watch the launch, and everything seems to go alright, as colonel belt is insistent that there is no issue with the shuttle. mulder doesn't believe that the colonel could possibly endanger the lives of his own men, and is inclined to agree that the report of sabotage is likely baseless.
mulder and scully head back to the hotel, goofing around the whole way. she starts off sarcastic and dismissive, though she can't help but break a smile at how gleeful he is as he talks her ear off about how "exciting" the launch was.
there is no other season where they could do this, just have fun and enjoy being together and what they're working on. they really are two kids on a field trip.
michelle chases them down at the hotel and tells them that there's a problem with the shuttle and they need to go back, but as they're following her back to NASA her car is run off the road by a figure she sees in the windshield.
i love this shot here of her holding onto mulder and him helping her out. one thing about women who need help, they instantly know they can trust him.
they make it back to NASA and a bunch of ghost alien shit happens, i suppose...they've lost contact with the shuttle and are unable to maneuver them into a safe position.
the next few scenes are fairly intense, as they are unsure of the fate of the astronauts and colonel belt continues to insist that the payload must be delivered, possibly jeopardizing the lives of the men in favor of appearances and money.
a moment for this episode's squad...mulder's goofy tie, scully's red pantsuit, michelle's cute sweater
he's sooo sad that his childhood hero is doing government cover-ups literally god forbid he have anything
when it's time for the shuttle to attempt reentry, michelle doubts that colonel belt has the best interest of the astronauts (including her fiancé) at heart, as the shuttle loses oxygen and they cannot find belt, the only person with the experience to know what to do.
meanwhile, belt has been having flashbacks to his own mission, where ghost alien shit happened, i suppose.
mulder and scully locate belt and bring him to mission control, as mulder continues to defend him throughout the ordeal, contending that as an astronaut himself he would never risk his own men. that he's the one who put them up there, he doesn't want them to die.
scully searches files at NASA and finds evidence that colonel belt knew about the shuttle's faulty valve, and went forward with the launch anyway, as belt continues to struggle with ghost alien possession things and collapses in his office.
while EMTs arrive, mulder pushes belt for information, telling him that he is going to save those men, and belt says that they need to change the shuttle's trajectory if it is going to survive reentry.
despite communication issues, they relay this message to the astronauts, who by the skin their teeth successfully land the shuttle at the last moment. mulder is the first to start clapping, and even scully has the biggest grin when news comes that they made it home.
mulder is a vital part of this space mission, actually!!
michelle is a sweet side character, i love these little friends they meet along the way.
his tie 😭❤😭❤😭
on my first watch, this scene offered so much insight into mulder for me. i still think of it often.
in the end, colonel belt has passed away, and mulder tells scully that something had possessed him in space. that he didn't really want to hurt those men or sabotage that launch, and that he thinks it was actually belt that warned michelle.
now, belt did effectively nothing but prioritize the payload and block their investigation. they found evidence that he was the one who sabotaged not just this shuttle, but others. mulder had to practically drag the information that ends up saving the astronauts out of him.
even if he wasn't sabotaging the launch out of his own volition, mulder still doesn't really have any reason to believe that he had benevolent intent, or that he secretly did want to save those men.
but as he later says in quagmire, he just sees hope in things like that.
#asks#justice for space!!#space#a less nice way of phrasing all this is that this is the episode that made me realize how truly delusional mulder is#because he does this all the time where he's like ummmm actuallyyyy that person gave their life for the good of the world??#bless him

Y'know sometimes I wonder what Ras reaction was to the Justice League. Like he practically offered Bruce the chance to be one of his generals, straight up offered for him to be his heir, and was turned down.
Do you think he's offended. Because oh, so his organization isn't good enough, but that merry band of idiots is?!

I have an idea, this is dpxdc but can be applied to any type of danny phantom crossover.
I may or may not turn this into a series.
Danny's universe is the first universe in existence. Other Earth's existed after his. His world is the genesis of all worlds.
After years of fighting and becoming the King of the Infinite Realms, he's a baby ancient of space, and for fun, he makes other universes and galaxies.
Basically, he becomes God with a capital g. The only difference is that he doesn't really interact with his creations unless they ask him for help.
The only problem with that is he doesn't know that everyone calls him God, so when people pray to him it's doesn't get to him since that's not his name.
He doesn't claim it, and he's powerful enough now where names can't be forced onto him.
But summoning still exists, and people summon him a lot.
John Constantine: Greetings to the Ghost King Phantom, ruler of the Infinite Realms-
Danny "still stuck in his 14 year old body but is only 17" Phantom: You're from that universe I created last month that keeps making paperwork for me!
JL + JLD: Wha-?
Flash: GOD IS A CHILD!?!?!?
Danny: Hey! I'm 17! Also, I'm not God!

DPxDC Zero Gravity
Things Justice League knows about Danny Phantom:
He's dead (why, how, and for how long is unclear)
He's generally on the 'good' side (but contingency plans have been set up in case of 'future evil self' resurfacing, by Danny's own suggestion)
He's a figure of authority among other dead/neverborn/otherworldly/eldritch/magical beings (however, it's unclear to what kind of authority he holds and why)
He's dating one of the Bats (unclear to who, but none of them confirmed nor denied the fact, which is a confirmation on its own)
He absolutely hates only two things: toast and Christmas (neither of them explained)
His powerset is so wide that he can't even fully recount it (unclear if it's because he doesn't remember all his abilities or if he can't keep track of the new ones popping up spontaneously)
He's hot [whoever added this, you're not wrong, but I'm watching you - O.]
He has a grudge against Flash (unclear to why, but Flash seems to know the reason and won't budge regardless)
Of course, there are many more things to know about Danny Phantom, but they are mostly suspicions, rumors, and speculations. Like how sometimes the boy seems distracted and bored as if he is only going through a pre-written script; a sign of repeatedly going through the same day a few times too many, as the other time-travellers say. Or like how sometimes he knows too much - the boy is an expert in Kryptonian biology, to Clark's great surprise, and is more knowledgeable about Olympus politics than Diana herself.
There are also little things that are hard to notice and even harder to ignore once you do. How he never talks about family but likes listening to others talk about it. How he pointedly stays away from the medbay and any kind of medical staff. How he stops every time he passes one of the giant windows on the main floor of the Watchtower, smiling dreamily at the sight of vast, open space beyond it.
And then, there's The Thing that no one addresses.
When Danny Phantom doesn't pay attention, he unknowingly nullifies gravity.
The first time it happened, Bruce thought the Watchtower's artificial gravity collapsed. However, he very quickly realized that it was a local occurrence - only a few rooms and a hallway were affected - and, right in the center of it, was Danny, reading a book he borrowed (stolen) from the Wayne manor library.
The boy himself never noticed it. Which made sense, given that he defied gravity all on his own, always floating in the air above the floor.
But the others never acknowledged it either, treating the sudden absence of gravity as a sign of one, Danny appearing somewhere around, and two, him being in a good, if a bit absent, mood.
All in all, it's not the strangest thing that happens at the Watchtower on a daily basis.
And, besides, it's kind of fun.
¤¤¤
Danny, floating in the middle of the game room at Wayne manor, deeply engrossed in a video game: Eat this, sucker!
Tim, using his toes and knees to keep himself from floating up from the couch, not wanting to distract Danny from their match: Oh, you're going down.
Titus in the background:
¤¤¤
Bart, in the middle of a conversation with Kon:
Kon: ...
Bart, looking down at the cup on the floor: ... I guess he left?..
Kon: He literally went through a giant glowing portal two minutes ago, five feet away from you, but that's how you figure it out?
Bart: I have a short attention span, anyway-
¤¤¤
Barry, opening a bag of chips just for all the contents and himself as well to start floating: I swear he does this on purpose, I fucking swear.
¤¤¤
Red Tornado, coming into the training hall of Mount Justice: ...
Young Justice:
Red Tornado: I take it Danny is visiting. I'll leave you to it, then.
¤¤¤
Bruce, walking out of the conference room at the Watchtower to see this on the other end of the hallway, internally: He may be coming this way, I should warn the others in the room.
Bruce, a second later, because he is a little shit deep inside: On the other hand, it's a great surroundings awareness drill, so maybe I shouldn't.

Danny meets JL members #7
[Danny "being the little shit he is" floating around the Watchtower, minding his own business.]
[Martian Manhunter approaches, phasing through a nearby wall.]
Danny: [startles] Dude! Ever heard of knocking? Martian Manhunter: You phase through walls yourself. Danny: Yeah, but I’m the ghost kid. You’re, like… a space ghost.
Martian Manhunter: I am J’onn J’onzz, the last survivor of Mars. Danny: [grins] Sweet. I’m Danny Fenton, the half-survivor of Earth. J’onn: [pauses] That is… unusually dark for a teenager.
[J’onn and Danny comparing abilities]
Danny: Okay, so you can phase through walls, shape-shift, and read minds? J’onn: Correct. Danny: I can phase, fly, shoot ectoplasm, and scream so loud it shatters windows. J’onn: Fascinating. Danny: Wait—can you do that thing where you get really big and scary? J’onn: Do you mean this? [transforms into a massive, monstrous figure] Danny: [wide-eyed] Okay, yeah, that’s terrifying. Teach me.
J’onn: Your abilities seem to stem from ectoplasmic energy. Danny: Uh-huh. And yours come from… Martian vibes? J’onn: [calmly] We call it genetic superiority. Danny: [grinning] Fancy way of saying “alien magic.” Got it.
[Danny tries to prank J’onn]
Danny: [invisible, sneaks up behind J’onn] Boo! J’onn: [doesn’t flinch] Your ectoplasmic signature gave you away. Danny: Dang it! How’d you know? J’onn: [smiling slightly] I could hear you laughing before you phased.
[Martian Manhunter Reads Danny’s Mind (danny let him)]
J’onn: Your thoughts are… chaotic. Danny: Thanks. I try. J’onn: You also appear to be replaying a jingle about snacks in your head. Danny: [grinning] It’s a coping mechanism.
[In the Watchtower Cafeteria]
J’onn: Earth food is… peculiar. Danny: [eating a sandwich] You’re not wrong. So what do you eat? J’onn: Martian plants and thought energy. Danny: Thought energy? That sounds like something a ghost would do. Are you sure you’re not, like, half-ghost too? J’onn: [raises an eyebrow] I am not. Danny: Sure, sure. That’s what I said before I fell into a portal.
[Later, J’onn texting the Justice League Group Chat]
J’onn: The ghost child is… peculiar. The Flash: That’s just Danny. Green Lantern: Did he prank you yet? J’onn: He tried. It was… underwhelming. Danny: [joins chat] I’ll get you next time, Space Dad. J’onn: I am not your “Space Dad.” Danny: [grinning] Too late.

The Fentonworks Mega-Lab.
So! AU where the Fentonworks Labs actually stretch Miles upon Miles below the City of Amity Park.
It started when the Fentons wanted to add a simple addition to the original Lab when they ran out of space to store their more dangerous weapons. They didn't want their (at the time) young children getting their hands on their experimental Weaponry, it could blow up in their faces!
So they built a different Wing of the Lab to hold all those Inventions.
Then they ran out of space and added a few extra Storage Rooms. But then they decided it was a hassle to have to carefully transport their Dangerous Inventions all the way to the Storage Rooms, and built a Lab specifically for Dangerous Experiments near that same Section. Then that Lab was occupied for a while, and Jack wanted to start a different experiment as well, so they built a few more.
In the end they just never stopped building onto their Labs.
There are sections of the Mega-Lab that are entirely walled off because a few of their more unstable Experiments contaminated the area. Walking into them was not recommended, else you could walk out with an extra eye or 5.
In other sections, their Captured Ghosts had taken over a few Labs and created a sort of Mad Max style civilization using their discarded weapons and vehicles.
In another, all Ghosts became Humans and all Humans became Ghosts. That was a weird one, to this day they still didn't understand how they pulled that off.
In another, some type of Eldritch Time Ghost had been born, and now sort of always existed and never existed, and began experimenting with its powers. They nicknamed it Clocky because it liked to carry around a stopwatch.
And so many more. At one point a failed Portal Experiment messed with the internal Space of the entire thing. Now there was literally no way of Mapping it. The Fentons still somehow managed to navigate it perfectly.
When Jazz and Danny grew up, they too learned how to navigate the Labs, which is how Danny managed to show his friends the Portal Experimentation Wing in the first place.
Unfortunately, it wasn't safe for anyone aside from the Fentons to enter the Mega-Labs, so one day when the Fenton Family+friends left town on a Week Long Camping/Road Trip, they put up a few Ghost Shields to keep both Humans out and the Ghosts in.
This drew some unwanted attention after some tourists saw the giant Glowng Green Building in the middle of an Illinois Town, and rightfully called the Justice League.
Now, the Justice League had tried to call the owners of the house, but nobody picked up the phone. (An incident with Jack and a Canoe had knocked most of their phones into the lake. They weren't even at the lake yet.)
When nobody picked up, they decided to investigate personally.
After getting into the House, they quickly found a door labeled "Labs: Do Not Enter (unless it we are late for Dinner)" and went into ignoring all the warnings.
They quickly regretted it.
#Dpxdc#Dp x dc#Dcxdp#Dc x dp#Danny Phantom#Dc#Dcu#The Fentons expanded their Lab a little too much#The Fenton Labs are now a Liminal Space on the level of the Backrooms or SCP Site-13#It is pure undiluted Chaos in those Labs and only the Fentons can actually navigate it successfully#The Eldritch Time Ghost named Clocky is a “young” version of Clockwork#Yes the Fentons accidentally created Clockwork#Does this make Danny and Clockwork brothers?#I say it does#The Justice League expected for this to be a quick and easy investigation#Now they have been fighting through a never ending facility of Horror Monsters and Eldritch Radiation as they try to escape#There are more parts of the lab than what I mentioned#There is a section where Gravity is inverted but only if you lift your Left Foot#There's a room that looks EXACTLY like the Outside until you reach the edge and find a wall of Mirrors#There's a room that just leads to a random Chucky Cheese location in the 80s and the only way to leave it to warn 10000 Tickets#There's a Kingdom of Sentient Robots created by the Fentons that have forgotten their true Origins and worship the Fentons as their Gods#Its a cluster of pure Chaos that somehow Co-exists#The first team sent in by the JL calls back saying that they had lost contact with the outside for hours (it had been 2 minutes outside)#The next team was radio silent for a full day before calling in saying that they had just entered#They had no idea why they kept sending in more teams

DPXDC prompt: There’s an alien invasion incoming and the justice league are all up in arms to defeat them. Once they break into the mothership, however, they discover that the aliens were already beaten up and there’s this ghostly child cackling in the control room. It’s Danny and he is Obsession-drunk and having an absolute blast exploring every nook and cranny of the ship, dismantling it to see how the machines work, driving it around, chatting a hundred miles per hour to the definitely-concussed and groaning alien commander, and just zooming fro and fro with eyes dilated so hard there’s only a tiny ring of green in his eyes, lost in the feral serotonin sauce
Bonus points if the justice league calm Danny down by having him fanboy over Martian Manhunter, and then in the end, Danny goes “I’m gonna stick with you now! No takebacks!” and adopts J’onn into the Fenton family, now J’onn has two midwestern folks to hang out with for the holidays (the Kents from that Christmas special and now the Fentons)

Imagine if you will; Billy de-transforms during a mission and gets knocked out. He wakes up in the JL medbay, and street kid ACAB instincts kick in (cause Solomon isn’t around) and Billy kicks the nearest authority figure (green space cop) in the shin and bolts out the room.
Ofc he pretty quickly realises his mistake, but what’s done is done and you gotta commit to the bit.

I think one of the things that annoys me the most on the safe space post I made is people barging in to try to dictate how people can find respite, where, and how much respite they're allowed, and why.
"Oh its fine to take a break as long as you don't take too long and immediately launch back into activism again until your next burnout!"
No.
Respectfully; fuck all the way off.
"Yes!! Recharging is so important so you can keep being a good activist!!"
Who asked you? Who declared you Assigner of Respite Rights?
When I was at my worst in terms of mental health, I went a good two years doing absolutely fuck all for the rest of the world. I could barely get out of bed every morning, you can bet I wasn't doom-scrolling war articles and organising charity drives for the homeless.
I was one of the many, many people in the world that needed help.
And as I recovered, activism and fighting for other people were the literal last things on my mind. If they started talking about shootings on the radio I turned it off. If my friends started talking about the latest Worldwide Horror I asked them to stop or I left.
I'm better now, and I made the personal choice to re-engage with activism in the best ways for myself, and I've made the choice to only be an activist when I feel like I can properly be one.
Some people might never get to that point. There are billions of people in the world. Stop screaming at individuals who are tired and broken and need help themselves. Stop assigning blame to the wrong people.
That's not activism or justice knighting.
Its bullying.

Dp x dc AU - If the Internation Space Station orbits the Earth 16 times a day, then so does the Watchtower.
Danny’s on track to move out of his parent’s house and move to Gotham for college (He swears that Sam bribed the board to let him in- and she wasn’t even going to that university!) but the dorms don’t open for another three days and he cannot wait to escape. Seeing his parents try to perfect yet another weapon to use against him while he changed out the ecto filters on the portal was too much. He’s completely over the idea of staying when he already has everything packed and ready to go.
The solution? Take all his boxes into his haunt in the Ghost Zone, leave them there and then spend some time in camping in space. He’s already explored the Infinite Realms enough to be bored of it for a minute (not to mention he wants to avoid getting more ‘favors’ to do from Clockwork) and hell, he just wants to see some stars.
He grabs his tent, a sleeping bag and all the food and things he could need and brings it into the atmosphere with him. Keeping it all tethered to him, Danny stays in a fixed position above Gotham (Cause that’s where he’s going next, duh) and treats himself to some quality Me-time.
Only problem is that several times a day he has to make himself intangible while he lets satellites and things pass through. Easy enough and honestly pretty interesting to observe as a wannabe engineering student.
He doesn’t know when exactly it happened the first time- but it turns out the Heroes of Earth all congregated in a satelite office building? It was bigger than the ISS! What the heck!?
Going intangible but not invisible, the JL spot Danny and are incredibly confused how an ‘Alien’ teen just happens to appear in their meeting rooms disappearing at the rate (slowly but surely) of the Watchtower moving through space. Was that camping gear? How was he roasting a marshmallow? Did propane camping stoves even work in space??
16 times a day they get the opportunity to ask Danny a few questions. He mostly ignores them or gives them joke answers. Eventually Martian Manhunter phases through the Watchtower to join him.
They talk about how hard transition periods in life can be and having strained relationships with family. J’ohn returns to the watchtower on its next cycle and reports that the kid is just fine, being an adult is just a hard thing to do.
#dcxdp#dpxdc#dc x dp#dp x dc#Danny Phantom#justice league#watchtower#dc#dc crossover#dc universe#martian manhunter#so much potential for him to haunt them but tbh he just wants to keep looking at the stars#dont ask me how his camping stove works in the vaccum of space google was unhelpful and i failed physics 2#well i mean i passed it eventually but i failed it the first time#thats the energy im bringing and the energy i feel like vibes with danny#the iss moves around earth 16 times a day tho and i think thats neat#martian manhunter is like dude earth relationships are legit so hard and im not just saying that as a refugee#id also like to think that miss martian eventually joins them and danny gets invited to join the YJ
