Was watching a video by Sonny Novus and they made good points about Luxu not needing to posses anyone at that point. But!! I still throw out the idea of Luxu bringing out DataBrain alongside Brain. DataBrain stays in the present and Luxu sends Brain into the future via time travel while Luxu does whatever tf. Im just still chewing on the idea that we see, what I assume is Data Strelitzia in that white robe and Sora holding that munny pouch Roxas had from DataTT. So data things can be brought into our world and be physical?

Late Night Pizza Stop - Xigbar
notes - pov: you're tonberry and you have over 30 requests in your inbox, but in your soul you wanted to write for xigbar, so you did LMFAO. well, I know there aren't a ton of kh fans on here, but for my xigbar simps, this one is for you <3 I have been simping over this man, so please enjoy my mini fic <3
word count - 472
You woke up to the sound of you window opening. Of course.
You rubbed your eyes and checked the time. It was 2 in the morning. God, of course he thought it would be a good idea to crawl into your room like the little rat he is right when you were finally getting some good sleep.
"Xigbar," you said with an unamused expression, watching the tall, lanky man try to squeeze his way through the open window. "What the hell are you doing?"
He shot you a crooked smile before falling face first onto your floor with a muffled "ow."
You crossed your arms and Xigbar stood up slowly, trying to play him falling off as nothing leaning on your desk chair that he didn't realize had wheels until he was flat on his face again.
"Xigbar, you're a dumbass."
"You're a dumbass." He said, getting up and rubbing his downward nose that he could've swore was broken.
"Well I'm not the one crawling through people's window's while they're sleeping, am I?"
Xigbar just chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "Look, I just found this really cool pizza shop in this world I was travelling to and I wanted to take you there."
You stared at Xigbar blankly. "So you're telling me.... you woke me up at two in the morning... for pizza?"
"Yes?"
You sighed, but couldn't help the smile that was creeping onto your lips. "Fine. Let me throw a jacket on and we can go get this dumb pizza."
"Look, if you don't wanna go, that's fine. I didn't mean to wake you, I thought you would be up." Xigbar followed you like a sad puppy.
"Look, Xig, pizza actually sounds godly and I honestly don't think I can go back to sleep." You pulled on your jacket and turned to Xigbar, who was pouting. "I'm fine," you giggled, pulling Xigbar into your arms. For being a whole bunch of nothing, he sure was warm. "Plus, I know you don't actually feel bad, Xig. You don't feel anything."
"Shut up." He said, pulling away from the hug and pressing a small kiss onto your lips. "You make me feel something."
"Ha, ha, very funny." You stepped into a pair of slippers and Xigbar opened a portal for the two of you to step through which ended you both up in front of the pizza shop. Even outside it smelled godly.
"I mean it, goober." He told you before pressing one more kiss onto your temple and leading you into the back of the pizza shop holding the small of your back.
To be honest, you were glad that Xigbar showed up. You couldn't sleep anyway. And he knew that too. For a guy who couldn't feel a thing, he sure knew how to make you smile.

GENERAL RP STYLE & PREFERENCES
Repost, don’t reblog. Bold what applies. Strikethrough what does not. Elaborate on any points you’d like with a *
Please be honest, we all want to find the people who work best with how we RP.
TYPES OF RP & HOW I DO THREADS
| I don’t I just do whatever is on my dash when I’m online | Mainly asks* | I do little short things mostly | I do my threads on discord | Long running threads that slowly build upon the muses** |
*I hoard asks I'm so sorry if I answer something like two months late after you've completely forgotten about it
**Not often but these are tasty
PLOTTING PREFERENCES
| Wing it* | Get a general idea ooc and then run with it & plot further if need be | Long expansive thought out story arcs** |
*I'm fine with this if it's what you prefer but I do tend to like to plot at least a jumping off point
**Again, rare but tasty
TYPES OF THREADS I DO & PREFER
| Oneliners only | Whatever dash shenanigans I’m online for | Para or Mulit para | Literal Novels* |
*Rare but not impossible lol
REPLY SPEED FOR THREADS & CONSISTENCY KEEPING THREADS
| I lose threads all the time & don’t usually get back to them | I tend to lose threads but please tell me if I have and I’ll reply! | I drop threads pretty easily | I’m really slow but I WILL get back to you | I reply on a schedule/queue (specify if you’d like) | I usually reply within a week | I reply every day | I reply almost instantly |
ROMANTIC SHIPS
| I don’t do these ships (specify reason if you would like) | I’m not against them happening but it is not the main point of my blog | All ships will have to be super slow burn & discussed a lot OOC, super chemistry based (Mutuals and friends only) | I love doing ships, HMU I probably already ship it just ask! | I ship really quickly | I autoship or ship within a few interactions | I mainly RP for the cute ship fluff |
SMUT
| I do NOT do smut at all* | I’m very selective about it | I only do it on a separate (blog/discord/specify here) | I mainly only do asks relating to nfsw headcanons on Sundays | I write it a medium amount | I write it all the time and love to |
*I'd probably only RP smut with super SUPER close friends or even a partner, assuming all IC and OOC parties are of age by default ofc. And if it ever happened it'd definitely only be on discord
ACTIVE HOURS [ AST: UTC -8 / Pacific Time ]
| Mornings 8-10 | Midday 11-1 | Afternoon 2-5 | Evenings 6-8 | Night 9-12 | Ungodly hours of the day 1-onwards |
ACTIVITY SCHEDULE
| SUPER slow and sporadic, like once a month or so | Slow and sporadic week long gaps between activity | Bi-weeklyish activity | Weekly activity | Daily activity | I’m online nearly all the time |
STARTERS
| I don’t do starter calls | I want to do starter calls but often don’t have time | I do selective calls (ask calls) | I don’t do calls, but always feel free to ask me for one! | I do starter calls rarely/regularly/often |
AUs
| I don’t do AUs | My blog is an AU but outside of that I don’t do them | I sometimes do them but only with a lot of plotting | I have a couple of AUs already feel free to request them!* | I have AUs coming out of my ears please interact with them! | I love making AUs HMU to plot if you think of one!** | There are some AUs I won’t do (specify here) |
*Maybe kind of ironically, the only muses I don't really do AUs for are the Kingdom Hearts muses, because like...kh is kinda already about crossovers. Making AUs for them feels redundant to me, personally, though I'm not completely opposed to the idea either. I just won't really go out of my way to make AUs for them like I do with my other muses is all I'm saying but it really doesn't take much convincing to get me to do one LMAO
**As far as fandom-specific AUs go, I generally prefer making ones for fandoms I'm at least somewhat familiar with. I've tried writing ones that my partner knows based on knowledge they give me and they always fizzle out really fast
CROSSOVERS
| I don’t do crossovers | I’m selective with crossovers (specify reason if you’d like) | I love crossovers! |

Late night KH verse thots because I blame certain PEOPLE BUTTTT--
It’s more or less figuring out how Light wound up in Radiant Garden after so long of being MIA. In my HC, the Dissidia world and the other FF worlds most likely existed in the same universe and my initial thought is that, after the events of Dissidia NT, some of them didn’t even return to their worlds because they had fallen into darkness ( like Squall & Cloud’s for example ) , Light’s world ( the world of Cornelia ) was one of the last to fall, mostly due to the fact that it is protected by the light of the crystals that Light & co. had restored during the events of FFI.
Eventually though, it too would fall and Light would be thrown into the darkness--but the darkness was never where he belonged and it’s thanks to his crystal , the one that had been bestowed to him by Cosmos in the 13th cycle, was what eventually saved him and pulled him free from the darkness.
However, it was only just enough to save him, not his home world.
Because of that , he was left to wander through the rifts of space, protected by the crystal seeing how he did not have access to a gummi ship at the time. Visiting many worlds in the process ( which is how he knows about Olympus Coliseum and the tournaments and all that )
KH timeline wise , 7 years would have already passed since his world had fallen and he still would have been trapped during the events of KH1 ( I’m going off of Leon’s age here as a sort of base since Cloud’s age is different from his canon one and here he’s technically younger than Leon ) . After Sora’s defeat of Xehanort’s heartless, Light’s crystal was finally able to gain the strength to free him and thus did his wandering journey begin.
He wouldn’t appear during the events of KH2 either , so I wanna say he would arrive in Radiant Garden some time between post KH2 and just before DDD & KH3 , which is how he ends up establishing relations ( or reacquainting with ) old and new friends, and becoming the trainer for Lea & Kairi ( again , this is HC, so no Kairi’s and Axel/Lea’s don’t have to follow this ) and he’s for the most part, present in KH3 but he resides within the timeless realm for a majority of it, keeping out of the affairs seeing how there isn’t quite much he can do but has since reforged relations with the restoration committee ( mainly Leon, Cloud & to an extent Tifa due to them having fought together in the cycles )
#hmm hmm#many thots#but so far i think this makes sense#afterwards he mostly just keeps to radiant garden#since i'm pretty sure a lot of worlds still hadn't been restored or the paths to them are locked away#and there are only so much sora and co can unlock#so he's not being too hopeful about returning to cornelia#part of him feels it is restored but he's also accepted the fact that he might not ever be able to return to it#so he's made his peace with it#:: out of light :: ( ooc )#:: star-gazing :: ( hcs & observations )#:: verse :: ( kh )

New fic idea?? 👀👀👀 spill the tea sis
Ahhh thank you for the interest!
It's not a dbz fic though, it's for Kingdom Hearts XD
I've always been kind of bugged that, lately, the Disney properties have just kind of been there for show. They barely fit into the whole narrative anymore, save for Mickey, Donald, and Goofy; they've reduced Maleficent to a bit part and that's a real shame. This fic was a little thought that turned into something I'm just having fun poking at and elaborating on it.
I've been working on fleshing out a keyblade master that's meant to fit with the 90's Disney Afternoon lineup (I still don't really know her species but it's sort of hyena-ish). Her name is Nimue and she was a former pupil of Yen Sid, but he noticed she was dabbling in dark powers, but only because of how much she believes in the dichotomy of light and dark fueling each other evenly. When Yen Sid noticed the light in Nimue's heart was changing, he did what he thought was best and he sealed her away. Decades later, she's happened upon by Merlock (solely because I was watching the Ducktales movie a few nights ago and was like 'ayy wouldn't it be funny if' and that's how everything goes); and he frees her out in intrigue. Hearing Nimue wants revenge against Yen Sid, he proposes he helps her get back and get revenge if she lets him confiscate whatever magical items he can to gain more power. She's like 'yeah sure why not' so they team up; and instead of the places they go to being based on the film canon like the KH games, it's a lot of the animated shows from the late 80s/early 90s. (and Gargoyles bc I'm legally obligated to include Gargoyles whenever I have the chance; and the atmosphere will let me include some kind of drama whehehe)
also Merlock kind of gets on Maleficent's bad side at the beginning of the fic, so they have to avoid whoever she keeps finding to bring him in to her AND Yen Sid is currently training new keyblade warrior Roxanne while Mickey is out (this takes place during KH1; all the others are there too like Max, PJ, Bobby, Pistol); so when they hear Nimue has been released he fears she may put others in danger, so he sends them out to stop her. However, Nimue has no thirst for harming others. She just wants retribution from Yen Sid himself, who deeply regretted what he did, but did so out of fear that Nimue's power and knowledge could end up harming innocents; so he chose to seal her away instead of harming her.
it's INCREDIBLY silly nostalgia indulgence that's still in development. Despite Nimue's goal, she isn't a villain. She's not malicious, but she can become volatile. She's a gnarly fighter, and doesn't just rely on her keyblade for combat. She's not much of a magic user, as she knows very well how to utilize darkness and light, both of them in ways that can harm and heal. She uses humor a lot to hide that she's been hurt from her master's betrayal and she remains aloof to keep herself at bay from creating more meaningful relationships.
#this was a silly idea that got COMPLETELY out of hand and now here I am#it's probably very cringe but I am free and having a blast

Missing You
Anonymous asked: Can you please make a KH Sora x female reader oneshot? One where the Sora misses his crush so much that he starts dreaming of seeing her again. As he continues his quest to find the power of waking. He reminds himself that if he continues he’ll see her sooner. The sooner he sees her the sooner he can confess and share the paopu fruit with her. But the organization tells him that they have someone special to him. This causes Sora to get angry and ask them where is she?! They ask him how important is she to him. Sora would do anything for his crush. As soon as Sora sees you in front of Xehnort Sora screams her name. But before he could get to his love it was too late.
Anonymous asked: May I ask for a Sora x normal female reader oneshot? Where she doesn’t know about keyblades or heartless. Sora doesn’t want her to be involved with all of this. Because he’s afraid that she’ll get captured like Kairi does.
Pairing: Sora x Reader
Word Count: 3k
A/N: goodness, I’ve been working on this for about two weeks straight. I decided to mesh these two requests together because based on the content of both asks, I could muster up a pretty decent story from both of them. I hope this is okay!!! I really hope you enjoy reading this, I’ve worked on it for so long now haha
Ao3 || Masterlist
It had been so long since the last time you had properly seen Sora. You remembered the first time he went missing when the two of you were just kids. It was terrifying, he, Kairi and Riku suddenly disappearing without a trace. The fact that this was possible by a few kids was scary enough, but they left behind no clues.
You remembered the adults of the islands were upset over this. They couldn’t seem to figure out why this happened. You found yourself conflicted and confused as well. Your three friends just.. Vanished into thin air. You remembered everyone spent so many days and nights out searching for the three of them, only to continue coming back with nothing. You ended up living in fear. What if they were taken by someone? What if they were coming after everyone on the island? It seemed everyone on the island was paranoid as well.
It wasn’t until Kairi suddenly returned home when everyone’s nerves finally calmed down. You could never find it within yourself to carry on like everyone else, though. You didn’t really understand it, everyone was acting like Sora and Riku never existed. You asked Kairi about this several times; however, she had the same answer every time: ‘I don’t know.’ She’d answer that way to everything you asked. Eventually you and Kairi grew far apart.
It seemed like a lost cause to try and ask around. No one seemed to remember Sora, and Riku ended up never returning. You grew concerned. Something really bad had to of happened, but there wasn’t any way for you to find out.
...Until you started dreaming about it.
-
Sora couldn’t remember the last time he felt at peace since leaving Destiny Islands. While this adventure was amazing and fun at times, he also missed being home with his family and friends and knowing they were safe. He missed you so much. The day he and the others disappeared from Destiny Islands was probably the most confusing day of his life. He hasn’t been back to Destiny Islands since... And he probably won’t be back for a long time.
By the time Kairi returned to Destiny Islands, Sora was trapped in Castle Oblivion. Having his memories rearranged and changed, he ends up forgetting Kairi. However, an important aspect is overlooked.
Sora had spent so much time trying to protect you without you knowing it. During his adventure so far, he was careful to avoid mentioning your name. He was lucky enough that you happened to stay home that night he and the others disappeared. Not wanting to risk another one of his friends getting hurt, he had to be careful when it came to you.
So Naminé ended up overlooking you in Sora’s memories and focused on Kairi and Riku specifically. Out of every confusing emotion that he had during this time, somehow relief was present. Knowing that you were safe for now made all of this comforting some how.
As the giant doors to the memory pod slowly shut, Sora felt himself begin to drift off to dreamy state. The last thing to cross his mind was you. Every memory of you that remained untouched played through his mind like a movie, from the time you two first met, up until the day he disappeared. He longed to see you again, maybe even share a paopu fruit with you. As he fell asleep, he looked forward to seeing you again.
-
Somehow, his dreams managed to transfer over to you. As you slept, you began to see something similar to visions. Some of them were hard to decipher. You couldn’t tell if it was the future, or if it was the past. You’d see people you didn’t know and live their lives as if it were your own. You dreamt of fighting and wars that you had never seen before. When you woke up, all of it was gone within an instance.
It was confusing. You didn’t know who’s memories these were, nor why you were seeing them. There was no one to ask, either. If anyone found out, they would think you’re crazy...
You managed to mention it sneakily in a conversation with Kairi. After school one day, as the two of you walked together down the beach, you suddenly turned to her in the middle of talking. “You know... I’ve been having weird dreams lately.” You stated. If anyone were to have answers, it would be her, right?
Kairi simply looked over at you, her expression going blank as you spoke. “Weird dreams?” She asked, raising a brow. “Like what?”
Finally, some progress. You began to explain in detail of what you were seeing. You mentioned seeing Sora and Riku in worlds that didn’t look like Destiny Islands, or seeing people older than the two of you fighting each other. As you explained all of this, Kairi’s expression slowly twisted into one of discomfort. When you realized this, you immediately stopped talking. “I’m sorry, I-” You tried to apologize, but she stopped you.
“It’s alright. It’s getting late, isn’t it?” She pointed out, looking up at the sky. The sun was beginning to set on the distant horizon. You hesitantly nodded and turned towards the small town. “I need to go home before I worry my parents.” She reminded, waving goodbye as she walked off.
A slightly frustrated sigh left you lips as you watched her go, unable to find it in yourself to press the situation further. Kairi’s been through enough by now... She doesn’t need you interrogating her.
Troubled by your overwhelming thoughts and dreams about Sora, you found yourself unable to settle with the fact that he was just... Gone. You were willing to believe anything at this point, you just needed some kind of peace of mind.
That’s when you first met him.
It had been months since your dreams first started occurring. You and Kairi were much older by now, with no sign of Sora or Riku ever returning. Eventually conversation fell off about them. No one seemed to remember them.
You don’t really remember how this man ended up on the island. You remembered he was dressed in a black, weird-looking coat, and his face was hidden by his hood. He was the one that approached you first, his hands clasped behind his back as he silently observed you.
Before you could question him about what he was doing, he interrupted you by simply lifting a hand. “You’re friends with... Sora, aren’t you?” He asked, his voice slightly raspy as he spoke. Something inside of you told you to not answer him, but if he approached you, he already knew the answer, didn’t he?
“...Yes. Who are you?” You questioned, your eyes narrowing slightly. He let out a sly chuckle as he shook his head.
“I’m no enemy of yours. Promise.” He stated, holding out his left pinky. The cloaked man seemed to be expecting you to link your pinky with his; however, you held your suspicious gaze. “You see, a friend of yours sent me to find you. What was his name again? Something like... Riku...” The man explained, causing something inside of you to snap.
“Riku?! Is he okay? Can I see him? Does this mean Sora is okay as well?” You asked, the questions basically spilling out of you. You probably should have left off the last question, you didn’t know who this man was. As far as you knew, he could have been the one responsible for their disappearance. It didn’t matter in the moment, though. You were desperate for answers. You needed to know that Sora was okay.
Unbeknownst to you, you had fallen straight into his trap. You finally established that connection between the two of you. Now they had an opening to attack. “Oh, I thought you knew. We’ve been taking care of Sora for a while now...” He lied smoothly, a twisted smirk forming on his features. “Would you like to see him? I’m sure he misses you a bunch.” The man said, his hand stretching out towards you.
You couldn’t stop yourself from taking his hand. As soon as he held his gloved hand out, you subconsciously reached out, not a single second thought in your mind. The moment your fingertips touched, a pool of darkness formed around your feet. Before you could get a word out, the two of you were consumed by it.
When your eyes opened again, you stood in the middle of a grey room. You quickly backed away from the male, a newfound look of fear in your eyes. “What did you do?!” You demanded, her brows furrowing. Have you succumbed to the same fate as Riku and Sora?
The male let out a low chuckle as he removed his hood. His long black ponytail fell down his back as his smirk was shown in the light of the room. “Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you wanted to see Sora.” He hummed, a sarcastic tone to his voice. “As if.” He stated, summoning a weapon similar to one of a gun. “Walk.” He commanded, gesturing for you to go.
You figured as you were pushed through the twisting halls of this weird building, you’d at least look for a way out. Your eyes scanned the halls, you would stare down every corridor, and you’d examine every opening in the walls. From what you could see, there was really no way out. Each room lead to another room that eventually went in a full circle. The castle was massive, there really was no escape.
Even if there was, the cell that they placed you in was unescapable. It seemed to float in midair, the bars were thick and too close together. You looked around the inside and realized there was no way of getting out except through the bars. A troubled expression formed on your features as you moved to sit against the wall.
How did all of this happen? How did this man know who Sora was? He mentioned Riku too... Does that mean Riku is here? But why would Riku let this happen? Wait... How did you even get here? What is this place? You definitely weren’t at Destiny Islands anymore. How could you be so foolish?
-
It felt like years had passed by the time Sora woke up again. His body was sore and his mind was filled with thoughts and memories of everyone in his life. He wasn’t really sure how much time had actually passed when he was asleep, but he did know he missed his friends.
His life quickly changed as he eased into being awake again. Organization XIII had been more and more active, Sora was mostly unaware of his previous encounters with them in Castle Oblivion. Mickey and Riku were still gone, and he had no clue when he would be able to return to Destiny Islands to visit you or Kairi.
It wasn’t until he arrived at Hollow Bastion when he came face-to-face with the Organization members. He met one of them, a dark haired male with a long ponytail and an eye patch. This one was pretty much like a huge jerk. He kept taunting and mocking Sora, causing increased frustration with the group, until he mentioned something odd.
“We have something you want.” He dropped between his lines. Sora’s expression contorted into confusion. Something he wants? What could he possibly want from the Organization?
“That’s not true. I don’t want anything from you.” He argued, frowning as he looked up at the older man. Xigbar immediately began to laugh, his yellow eye piercing into Sora’s gaze.
“As if.” He answered, waving him off. “I guess [Name]’s gonna be waiting a little longer, then.” He shrugged, disappearing into a pool of darkness.
For a moment, Sora stood in silence. His expression held confusion, shock and a hint of anger, but he knew he was powerless to stop Xigbar now. His eyes slowly moved to his keyblade. They had you. He worked so hard to avoid bringing you into this... How did this happen?
Throughout his adventure, trying to find the Organization felt impossible. It was frustrating to say the least. He wasn’t sure who to blame. Had he accidentally let it slip? Did Riku or Mickey tell them? Where were they anyways? There were so many confusing questions that probably wouldn’t be answered until a long time from now.
His adventure began to feel like a cat-and-mouse game. He was constantly chasing someone, whether it was Organization XIII, Riku, Mickey, or heartless. It was so exhausting, especially with you constantly on his mind. He couldn’t help but be terrified for you, he was so worried and there wasn’t a waking moment where you weren’t on his mind.
Things finally began to look up when they finally arrived at the World That Never Was. It was time to face the Organization for good, while finding you, Kairi and Riku.
-
From what you could remember, Kairi somehow ended up in the prison as well. While the two of you were separated, you still could talk. Even if that was the case, there wasn’t much to say. You felt guilty, the blue haired male stopped by occasionally to remind you that you’re the reason why Sora is being lured here. It made you feel so guilty, you hated that you had somehow become a burden in the middle of a bunch of problems you didn’t understand.
You missed him so much. You missed Riku, you missed Kairi, you missed Destiny Islands. Why did everything have to go wrong? Why couldn’t everything just be normal? Nothing made sense anymore.
A shaky sigh left your lips as your eyes shut. With this endless waiting, you found yourself enjoying solitude. There wasn’t much else to do besides wallowing in your guilt. You longed to see Sora again, you missed home so much.
In the middle of your depressed thoughts, you heard some movement from the cell besides yours. You narrowed your eyes as you moved closer to the bars, before widening your eyes at the sight of a... Ghost? She had light colored hair and wore a white dress, but she seemed to be see-through and she stood in the same pool of darkness that the Organization uses. The two of you made eye contact for a moment, before another pool appeared behind you. Kairi seemed to trust her without hesitation, you could only do the same.
When you entered the darkness, you emerged in a long white hall. You hadn’t seen this part of the Castle before, so you weren’t sure of which way to go. The mysterious girl and Kairi seemed to be separated from you, because they have yet to arrive.
This only meant that you were on your own from now on. You weren’t sure which way to go, so you ended up blindly choosing. As you explored the Castle, you suddenly heard some talking. When you finally approached the voices, you saw all three of them. Sora, Riku and Kairi were standing together, reunited and smiling.
Your heart swelled at the sight. They all looked so grown up, they looked so different from the kids you met on the islands. You weren’t sure how to approach them anymore. They were basically different people. You hesitantly took a step closer, noticing how Riku’s gaze moved towards you.
The grey haired male quickly patted Sora’s shoulder and gestured towards you, making the younger male look over at you. A look of relief crossed his features immediately as he ran over to you.
“[Name]....” He whispered, seeming to be unsure of how he should approach you. “We were just about to find you, I was so worried, how did any of this hap-” He was cut off from his rambling when you embraced him tightly, your tears falling down your cheeks finally.
“Sora, I missed you so much...” You whispered, looking up at him and gently cupping his cheeks. “I was so worried, the moment you and Riku never returned, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I kept thinking about you... Everyone else seemed to forget, but I couldn’t.” You explained, shaking your head.
He nodded hesitantly and sighed, shaking his head. “I should have told you what happened, what was going on, I’m sorry that I never could.” He whispered, frowning. “I just wanted to keep you safe.” He murmured, looking down at the floor.
“It’s okay. You have unfinished business, don’t you? We’ll talk about it when we get back to Destiny Islands.” You replied, nodding slowly and taking his hand.
He nodded firmly and turned towards the others. “Then let’s finish this.” He stated.
The entire group ran towards the top of the Castle, preparing to face the final boss. Avoiding obstacles and defeating seemingly endless amounts of heartless and nobodies, you finally arrived at the top. Sora stood in front of you and Kairi protectively. You were basically useless when it came to confronting Xemnas, so you stayed back with a weird looking duck and dog.
Everything seemed to be going well... You weren’t really sure what was happening. You couldn’t believe your eyes for the most part. All you remember was a giant door opening and Sora and Riku disappearing into it. You couldn’t help yourself become nervous at the sight. What if they didn’t return? There was so much on the line. Eventually, you and Kairi were urged to return to Destiny Islands, the small mouse telling you that Sora and Riku would be home soon.
You had no choice but to go with them. Your eyes were glued to the sight of the door beginning to shut behind Sora and Riku. You swore you saw something resembling a smile on Sora’s lips. Nervousness formed on your chest. What if he doesn’t come back? What if you never see him again? You found it hard to breathe as you returned to the beach of Destiny Islands.
You and Kairi waited for so long, neither of you speaking as you waiting at the edge of the coast. You were so anxious as you waited for some kind of answer, or sign that they were alive and well. As the sun began to set, the stars above you began to shine through the clouds. You stared up at the sky for the longest time until something else caught your eyes.
Two shooting stars, side-by-side, fell towards the ocean. As they splashed into the water, you hopped up to your feet and prepared to run out into the water. That’s when you saw his spikey brown hair peek above the water, followed by long silver hair. “Sora!!” You cried out, running into the water. The two men turned towards you and Kairi, eagerly swimming towards the island.
The moment that you and Sora met, the two of you embraced tightly, as if you were afraid something were going to separate you two again. You could feel your own tears running down your face, as well as his falling onto your shoulder. “I missed you so much.” He whispered, pulling away and looking down at you.
“I missed you, too.” You replied quietly, taking his hands and guiding him to the shore. It felt nice being home with everyone again. It had been years since you were all united like this again. You never wanted them to be taken away from you again.
As everyone exchanged their greetings and hugs, you found yourself slowly walking towards the leaning palm tree. Sora managed to catch up to you, a grin on his lips. “Hey, I have something for you.” He explained, pulling you along and hopping up onto the palm tree. He reached up and plucked a couple of star-shaped fruit off of it, handing one to you. “I heard that if you share these, your lives are connected forever.” Sora mentioned, raising a brow and handing one to you.
“Share them?” You asked, taking a seat next to him on the tree. “Where did you hear that?” You asked, a giggle leaving your lips.
He chuckled softly and shrugged. “Some guy named Riku.” He answered, smiling quietly and sighing. He quietly took a bite from one of the fruit, before holding it out towards you. After you took a bite, a soft hum left your lips.
“So... What now?” You asked, looking out towards the sunset. He hesitated, before shrugging.
“I’m not sure. The Organization is defeated, we’ve finished our journey, I think.” He murmured, furrowing his brows. “I guess I can finally tell you about everything that’s happened.” He pointed out, grinned.
You smirked. “You better get started then. You have a lot of explaining to do.” You answered, smiling as he eagerly began to explain everything from the night they left, up to before you found them in the castle.
Honestly, no matter how hard it was getting to this point, you were beyond happy to be next to him again.

KH-OC Week - Catch Up: Day 5 - (5 AUG 2021)
@khoc-week
The prompt I am doing for this one is 'Memory'. I thought this was just going to be a little diary entry simulation, but I ended up getting carried away and made a little fictional piece out of it. This does not necessarily follow my IRL existence and my dream avenues, this piece is more a completely imaginative fiction (incorporates only some aspects of stories from dreams); and what it would be like if I had a more concrete position, like living there for significant periods of time.
----------------------------------------------------------
Diary Entry Written: 8 AUG 2021 (8:08 PM)
Words: 1,652
As I sit here in isolation, thinking about how lonely it is here in the house, I remember all the times I spent with Riku and his friends, who are in turn my friends, and this makes me happy. All of a sudden I don’t feel so alone anymore, and as the memories replay, it’s like the people in them are actually with me; we are experiencing these moments all over again.
At the start, it was hard as I tried to introduce myself to a new world of people and vice-versa. I would tell Riku about myself, and it seemed like he was listening, but a few hours went by, and it’s like he forgot what I had told him… Sort of like he didn’t care, but then I knew Riku wasn’t naturally like this. At the time, I was new, and with Riku having redeemed himself from the darkness, I guess his insecurities were… Protecting him in a way; he did not want to be deceived again. It’s always hard at the start when I know exactly the person I want to show to others, but that they may not perceive me the way I perceive me. I knew exactly how Riku felt, which why I thought to myself, “Just be kind”, because in truth, it’s sometimes actions that speak louder than words.
So I took it upon myself to look out for Riku’s friends when he himself couldn’t be there, or if he was there but he was caught up in another matter. I recall the first thing I did for one of those ‘guardians of light’, so they are called. Xehanort had gotten the best of Sora, shattering him into a million pieces (emotionally), as he was made to watch Xemnas almost incapacitate Kairi. I yelled to Kairi, “Why aren’t you using your keyblade? You have one!”. Of course at the time, Kairi didn’t know who I was, and so she was hesitant to follow my advice. But just as Xemnas was about to make her take her last breath, it seems like Kairi knew what I was on about, and fear was turned into common sense. I continued to yell from the bottom of the plateau; “you get into these situations because people think you can’t fight for yourself!”.
As Riku was busy trying to keep himself from being dominated by Ansem, he looked over at Kairi’s direction with a sort of slant in his face. He himself didn’t know that I was standing below, he could only be confused by the voice he was hearing, but then I think that in Riku’s heart, he agreed that Kairi needed to become stronger and stand up for herself more… Because others won’t always be around. As Kairi swiped the keyblade, Xemnas was launched back, with a shocked look on his face like he didn’t even think the girl could do it. Both Sora and Riku looked at each other, and then to Kairi, with a look of amazement as they saw that she pried herself from Xemnas.
I skip to after that battle, where I heard Kairi say to them, “I probably wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for that girl”. Sora had answered, “No Kairi, it was all you. See, you do have in you, and for that, I’m proud of you”. Kairi stopped him, “But that voice, it helped me a lot”. Riku was curious and so he peered through a wall of the graveyard ruins, and he could see me walking away as I felt I had done my job. A few of these moments, and down the track, Riku began to trust me and see that I meant no harm. Rather than pushing me away and only what I thought was him pretending to care, he took more of an interested and asked me what I wanted when he noticed that I wanted or needed something.
Six months later, and Riku is the father figure I never would have dreamed of back then. And back then I thought I could never show that I was weak, or he would become uncomfortable with such thoughts and push me away. But then he later would accept me for who I am, and he said that is was okay for me to be weak. As my dream guide, he told me that it’s impossible for a person to be strong all the time, and when the cracks show, that it’s no problem to rely on others to build us up. Though Riku did admit that he himself wasn’t perfect, and that some of the messages he shared with me were inspired by Sora’s way of thinking. Riku would tell me stories of the time he and Sora spent together, and he said that he loved Sora very much… But then Riku also admitted that he had a place for me as well, as he did for all his friends.
Down the track, Riku encouraged me to meet his other friends. In Twilight Town, he introduced me to Roxas, Lea and Xion. At first, Roxas didn’t seem too convinced that I was trustworthy, but after a few rods from Riku, Roxas was able to see. I remember telling Roxas that I was aware of all his trauma from the events of KH-Days and KH2, and I said to Roxas that if there was a way for me to bring him back in time so that he never had to go through such a thing, I would. In-fact that’s when I said to any guardian of light who had been through some sort of deep darkness. That if I had the power to change things, I would.
And this is in-fact how I became closer to Terra. Because of all that Terra had been through with Xehanort, he initially thought I was trying to lead him on. However, I understood exactly why Terra wasn’t convinced, and from Riku encouraging me and standing in the same room as I spoke, I told Terra that I understood exactly why. I stated that I witnessed everything that Xehanort did thanks to the accounts of KH-BBS, and I said that I would never wish that on anybody. I said to Terra that I wanted to see him enjoy his life, and that I would be a good friend who would do anything to help him get back the joy that he missed out on for 11 years.
So when I could go on a mission with Riku, I would. But the mission would be so dangerous that Riku wouldn’t let me go no matter how strong I claimed to be, Terra was always the first person he took me to, and in turn Terra would always be the first one to offer to look after me on Riku’s behalf. And then even in a streak of no missions, I lived with Riku on the islands, but I would occasionally go for sleepovers at the Land of Departure.
Aqua and Ventus would sometimes spend time with us, but everybody understood that Terra was my special connection to that place. So as Aqua would have bonding time Ventus, Terra would have it with me. I remember once, I brought a couple of canvas over as I wanted to see if Terra could paint. He didn’t have that steady-a-hand, and unfortunately he ended up making a bit of a mess, but we could make out that the painting was of him, Aqua and Ventus.
I ended up painting a picture of me, with the Land of Departure in the background, holding my Spirit of Brigid keyblade. Why did I decide to draw this keyblade? Firstly, I thought it fit the royal aesthetic of the place. But secondly, I had this memory while painting. The first time I picked up that keyblade, I didn’t realised it was serving as a music box as I heard the school song playing from within the metal! I remember I had to actually slap the keyblade, and that’s when the music stopped and I could use it as a keyblade and not a darn radio. In-fact these days, when the Spirit of Brigid plays the school song, Riku laughs, and he sometimes even slaps the keyblade for me.
So after I spent the night and/or day with Terra, Riku would come to collect me, and Terra would tell him what a great time we had, and if Terra actually had fun. And then Riku would take me home, back to the islands. That same evening, we would walk along the beach, and Riku would ask me for my perspective on the stay. And sometimes, depending on what I told Riku, he would turn my experience into lessons and give me further advice or insights into life.
I would ask how Riku’s missions went, but sometimes he wouldn’t say much. I knew he still kept some things to himself, but at the same time, I understood. It’s not because he couldn’t trust me. Instead, it was more because he likely wouldn’t wish his experiences on me, or something really bad happened to him that he just had to keep it inside. However, for as long as I was under Riku’s roof, even on our bad days, we would always end the night and start the new day together. We slept in his bed, and he’d have his arm over me, ready to comfort me if I had any nightmares.
So yes I may be trapped in my own house, outside the KH world at the moment. But when I think about the day that Riku took me in; Lea and Roxas taking me out for ice-cream whenever I visited Twilight town; Terra babysitting me, and having the delicious dinners that Aqua made, it’s like there with me at this very moment, and I know I’ll be back to see them soon.
-------------------------------------------------------
Hope you enjoyed reading that piece! Now to race to get Day 6 and 7 out in a reasonable time-frame so it isn't too late outside the week. Day will contain a special drawing that I trying to finish. Day 7 may be another written piece.

Sora x Magical Girl!Daughter: Lolita Pretty Cure
Warnings: me combining KH with Date a Live and Pretty Cure
Rating: SFW
You loved to read magical girl mangas. Mangas like Sailor Moon, Puella Magi Oriko Magica, and much more. One day, you were walking to school in Destiny Islands, just admiring the view, when all of a sudden a cat plush thing hit you square in the face.
“Owww...” you groaned. You looked at the cat plush and got a good look at it. It had grey fur with a pouch in front of it and was wearing a pink cape.
“Wow, was not expecting to land like that,” it said.
“It can talk?!” you exclaimed.
“Of course I can talk! It’s not everyday a cat like myself bumps into people!” You looked at the cat and remembered that this was almost exactly what your mangas were like.
“What’s your name?” you asked.
“My name is Chirithy. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to find the Lolita Pretty Cure.” Chirithy jumped into the air and disappeared in a flash. Woah...what’s the Lolita Pretty Cure? You heard the bell ring and freaked out.
“Oh no! I’m gonna be late!” you said. You gathered your things and ran over to the school. Meanwhile, a woman with long lolita style dress (you can tell who it is) watched as you ran over to school.
“So, Chirithy is out looking for the Lolita Pretty Cure. Not for long she’s not,” she said. A group of Heartless summoned behind her and she turned to look at them.
“You know what to do,” she smirked.
~~~~
“There you are! Class is about to start!” your best friend, Ava (Riku’s daughter) said.
“Sorry about that! Got held up with something!” you said.
“Alright, now come on!” You giggled and headed over to your seat and class had started.
~Le Time Skip b/c I’m A Lazy Piece Of Shit~
You and Ava walked out of school and headed over to the library to do some studying. On your way there, the two of you saw the town running frantically for their lives.
“What happened?!” you asked.
“I don’t know. But we should check it out,” Ava said.
“Right!” You and Ava ran into the town and saw Sora and Riku trying to defeat the Heartless.
“Dad!” you and Ava yelled.
“Girls, get out of here! It’s too dangerous!” Sora said.
“But, what happened?!” you asked.
“We’ll explain later! Now go!” Riku said. You and Ava ran and ran until you entered an antique shop.
“Wow...this place is amazing!” you said as you looked around.
“I never thought that an antique shop would be so...cute,” Ava said. As you were looking around, you spotted a mirror that had what looked like two greek goddesses holding each side.
“Woah. Huh? There’s writing there. Let’s see...’Protectors of the χ-blade, guardians of the wielders, lost children of the city of Daybreak...Kingdom Hearts’,” your said. As soon as you said those words, you were pulled into the mirror and into another realm.
“Woah...” you said. You looked around and saw that you were in room surrounded by statues of Greek gods and goddesses. You suddenly heard mewing and saw a sparkle trail down to you. It was Chirithy!
“Huh? How did you find this place?! Only the Lolita Pretty Cure’s are allowed here!” it said. “Unless...You are the Lolita Pretty Cure!”
“Huh?!” you asked.
“Wow! Took you that long to figure that out? I already knew when I first saw her!” someone said. The three of you looked over and saw the woman with the long lolita dress sitting on top of Zeus’s head.
“Kurumi! Get off of Zeus’s head right now!” Chirithy said.
“Hmm, nah! If you want me off so badly, then you’re gonna have to fight me for it.” Chirithy gasped and turned to you.
“We have to stop Kurumi! You must turn into the Lolita Pretty Cure!” it said.
“Hey, we just discovered this place! We don’t know how to turn into this Pretty Cure!” you said.
“Just follow these words: May your heart be your guiding key.”
“Okay. I’ll give it a shot.”
“You might wanna do it quick, ‘cause Kurumi looks mad,” Chirithy said. You searched deep in your heart and a compact appeared in front of you.
“Woah...” you said.
“So, you are the Lolita Pretty Cure. Well then, give me a show, Kurumi said.
“How do we use this thing?” you asked.
“You gotta search deep in your hearts,” Chirithy said. You nodded and suddenly, the compact opened and you changed into a pretty Lolita Pretty Cure.
“Guardian of the night, protector of the Fates, I’m Cure Nyx!” you said.
Cure Nyx:
(I love Rory!)
“Woah! You’re Cure Nyx! The first Lolita Pretty Cure!” Chirithy said.
“Ahh! What happened to my clothes?!” you asked.
“It’s okay! It’s normal!”
“I’m waiting!” Kurumi said. You looked at Kurumi and gained a bit of confidence.
“Let’s do this!” you said. Kurumi jumped off of Zeus’s head and the two of engaged in a battle. Since you were still getting used to being a Pretty Cure, things weren’t as easy.
“Nyx! You gotta use your special attack!” Chirithy jumped.
“Huh? Of course! Every magical girl has one!” you said. You took your compact and concentrated all your energy into it.
“Pretty Cure! Eclipse Attack!” you yelled. The Eclipse Attack attacked Kurumi and she was defeated.
“Grr, this isn’t over!” she said as she disappeared. Your clothes returned to normal and you fell on your knees.
“Why didn’t you tell me that being a Pretty Cure takes a lot of energy?” you groaned.
“Don’t worry. You’ll get used to it,” Chirithy said. After discussing the history about the Pretty Cures, you exited the realm and back into the antique shop to see Ava still looking around.
Later that night, Chirithy landed on your windowsill and you spotted it while you were getting ready for bed.
“Chirithy, what are you doing here?” you asked.
“I’m here to stay with you. Since you’re Cure Nyx, it’s my job to make sure that you’re safe,” it said.
“Okay. But if my dad finds out about this, then I’m dead.”
“It’s actually best that he doesn’t find out about any of this. We can’t put him at risk of being in danger.”
“Alright.” You finished getting ready for bed and fell asleep, dreaming of the Pretty Cures.
Wayfinder’s Voyage
Oceanic (Chapter 1 | 2)
Word Count: 5785
I hope everyone enjoyed reading this! I'm honestly super anxious while I'm typing this because, not only is this my first fic in the KH fandom, this is also my first ship fic so I'm feeling a lot of pressure.
I want to apologize if the characters seem OOC in this, I was mainly going off of memory and a Wiki because I didn't want to sit through an entire LP of BBS just to get a few details accurate. It already took me a month and a half to write all of this and I didn't want to take up more time.
I do have more Terraqua fics in the works, as well as a couple other KH fics in general, but those will probably be posted way later. I just wanted to test the waters with this fic and see how I do so...
So some things to note:
*Both Aqua and Terra's first scenes in this fic were made entirely for the purpose of giving them build-up while not diminishing Ven's importance to them. I was already going to be fucking with canon a lot but I also didn't want to leave Ven to the wayside so I created those scenes. You'll see Terra's in the next chapter.
*I feel the need to apologize for the second half of the second scene because that still feels like word barf, even when I know why I wrote it like that. I hope the intention behind those words is still conveyed clearly but I'll understand if it's not.
*As for the last scene, I completely misremembered the sequence of events leading up to the end. I already knew that scene was going to be changed somewhat just for the context of the ship but I think it's pretty clear which parts I changed on purpose and which parts I was winging it. It's been years since I last watched that scene, it was super late into the night, this was my third rewrite, and I felt satisfied with my work before realizing I fucked up and decided to go along with it.
Today started out like any other normal day. Aqua woke up, did her morning regimen, and set off for the great hall to begin her studies. She and Terra, her friend/rival, were to train under the watchful eye of their master Eraqus in the hopes of coming one step closer to fulfilling their lifelong dream. They would one day surpass the rank of apprentice and become Keyblade Masters in their own right, something she wished would arrive sooner rather than later.
Then came time for their daily duel. They would often spar with each other as a way of proving their capabilities in battle, seeing what areas they could use improvement in, and showing off the techniques they had learned from past fights. This seemed to be no different from their previous clashes.
She was on the defense, blocking and deflecting each blow Terra threw her way with relative ease. He managed to find an opening she didn’t account for and all but jumped on the opportunity. He charged in, his Keyblade held high, and she only had a split second to raise hers in an attempt to guard against it. Yet, whether it was due to a miscalculation on his part or her just reacting too slow, he ended up hitting her unarmored wrist. She quickly backed away, letting out a cry of pain as both Keyblades were dismissed in a flash of light. Eraqus rushed over to check if she was okay.
Terra was beside her with remorseful apologies spilling out of his mouth but she barely paid them any heed. Her eyes were focused on something much more alarming, something she knew Eraqus saw too. Emanating from Terra’s hand was an aura of Darkness, which vanished as soon as he noticed it. He tried to defend himself to Eraqus but the damage was already done.
Their master had an almost zealous hatred for Darkness, believing it’d bring nothing but destruction in its wake, and sought to rid the Land of Departure of any, even if some laid dormant in his apprentices’ hearts. This was a constant problem for Terra, who always seemed to harbor enough to fall back on, be it consciously or not. For it to flare up during training, that drew Eraqus’s ire.
It was hard not to feel sorry for Terra as he was being harshly scolded. It wasn’t like he was trying to use Darkness, at least not intentionally. She knew that it was only an accident but it wouldn’t help stop the shame he undoubtedly felt. He’ll probably curse himself for being too weak and letting Darkness in yet again once he thought no one was around, an occurrence she’s been privy to more than she had any right to be. She needed to talk with him once she had her wrist taken care of.
With a hand on her back, Eraqus began leading her out of the great hall. She looked over her shoulder to catch one last glimpse of Terra before leaving. He hung his head in shame as he clenched his fists in what she believed to be anger. It was just as she expected. She turned her head back to face forward, hoping he wouldn’t blame himself more than he already was.
They made their way over to the infirmary, where Eraqus gently took hold of her wrist to examine it. She could see now how bruised and swollen it was from the impact as she winced with every slight movement. He was able to determine she had a sprained wrist, which she regarded as a miracle. With the amount of force Terra had in his swing, she was thankful it didn’t result in a break. She was to keep it wrapped and iced for a couple days till it healed, something she had no problem with.
After it was bandaged, she was told to take it easy until then. She asked Eraqus about Terra and he said he’d have a talk with him once enough time had passed for things to settle down. There was an undercurrent of regret in his voice, made even clearer by the expression on his face. Their master may be strict but he still cared for them, similar in the way a father would for his children. This gave her some hope in that he realized what happened was an accident and he’d forgive Terra. Time would only tell.
She spent the rest of the day in the library. She figured she’d get some studying done if she couldn’t practice with her Keyblade for the next few days. Try as she might, though, she could barely focus on the words she was reading and that was if she didn’t reread the sentence to understand it. Her mind kept wandering to Terra, whether he was okay or not, and what he was doing right now. Worry gnawed at her heart until she couldn’t take it anymore. The sun was beginning to cast orange and violet hues across the sky when she decided and rushed out to find him.
He wasn’t in the great hall or his room when she looked in. Searching all around the building yielded no results, either. She wondered where he could be, her anxiety growing as she saw night quickly approaching. He had to still be in the Land of Departure and the only place she hadn’t checked yet was the mountain. She ran out to the Forecourt and then beyond its boundary.
Stars were twinkling into existence by the time she reached the winding path leading up to the mountain. If it weren’t for the lights set alongside the dirt road, she would’ve been stumbling about blindly in the dark. It was when she arrived at the overlook just before the summit she found him.
His back faced her as she saw that he was sitting on the edge of the cliff. Taking a few steps closer revealed him to be looking down below the mountain with an indiscernible expression. It was troubling to see him like this. What happened earlier today had to be weighing heavily on his mind.
Tentatively walking forward, she called out, “Terra?”
He stiffened and quickly turned around to face her, asking a barrage of questions like, “Aqua, are you okay? How’s your wrist? Is it bad? It’s bad, isn’t it?”
“No, no, it’s all right, see?” she replied, showing him her bandaged wrist. “Master said it was only a sprain and that it should be okay in a couple days as long as I took it easy.”
He let out a sigh of relief, no doubt feeling some of the guilt be lifted off his shoulders. “That’s good. I don’t think I would’ve forgiven myself if I managed to break your wrist.”
“Well, you didn’t, so don’t beat yourself up over it, okay?”
Silence fell between them. She noticed him staring at her wrist with clouded eyes, despite her assurances of being fine. Before she could think of a way to broach the issue at hand, he spoke up.
“Aqua, I’m…I’m sorry about what happened earlier. I swear, I didn’t mean to hurt you, it was an accident, and---”
“I know, I know! You don’t need to apologize, I know you would never try and hurt me,” she interjected, trying to comfort him. “I’m more worried about you and how you’re doing after Master had those…words with you.”
He averted his eyes from her. It wasn’t the first time she’d seen Eraqus scold Terra like he had before and those always left him feeling horrible with himself. She was used to being the one to get him back to normal but something told her this wouldn’t be as easy as previous times.
Turning away from her, he said, “I deserved it. Master was right, I could’ve seriously hurt you.”
“But you didn’t and that’s what matters,” she replied.
“I was wielding Darkness, Aqua!” he exclaimed, taking her aback. He ran a hand through his hair before continuing on, “I thought it was gone. I thought I had it under control but I guess I don’t. Maybe it never left.”
“Terra…” She walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. “It’ll be okay. You’ve gotten rid of Darkness before, you can do it again. You just have to---”
He brushed her off. “What if I don’t? What if I’ll always have Darkness inside me?”
“What are you saying?”
“Maybe I’m not meant to be a Keyblade Master. Maybe I’m just destined to fall into darkness. It’s my fate to lose my heart and become a Heartless.”
“That won’t happen, Terra. You’re strong enough to resist it and---”
“What if I’m not, Aqua? How else would you explain why I keep having Darkness come out of me? You can’t, can you?”
To her horror, he was right. There was no way she could explain why Darkness lingered inside him, even with the numerous attempts to rid himself of it. It wasn’t because he had a weak heart, that much she was certain. So what was the connection between the two? Was Terra right in that he was destined to fall into darkness, either by losing his heart or some other means?
The thought rocked her to the core. She didn’t want to believe his fate was to be lost in a hellish abyss until he was put out of his misery. He was her dear friend and he deserved so much more than being reduced to a lowly Heartless. She refused to accept it, which was why she decided to do something about it.
“You won’t fall into darkness, Terra,” she affirmed, stepping around him to meet his gaze. “I know it.”
“How? How can you be so sure?” he asked.
“Because I won’t let you.” She took hold of his hand in a gentle yet firm grip. “I promise I won’t let you fall into darkness.”
He seemed genuinely shocked by her words. She meant what she said and she planned on upholding her promise. It may be hard and it may even be treacherous at times but it’d all be worth it if he remained in the light.
“And, if you do fall, I promise to always guide you back home,” she added, giving his hand a squeeze.
“...You have that much faith in me, huh?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Why wouldn’t I?” She cupped his cheek. “You’re my friend, Terra, and I know you’re strong enough to resist its temptation. I’ll just be there to remind you every so often.”
He said nothing, instead deciding to pull her into a hug. She was surprised by this, seeing as how he wasn’t a very affectionate person, at least in the physical aspect. She was about ready to question him on why he was doing this when she heard him whisper in her ear:
“Thank you, Aqua, for believing in me.”
Her heart fluttered in her chest from the sincerity in his voice. She could sometimes be slow on the uptake but this had to be a new record. It was only now she realized just how much her vow must’ve touched him and how badly he must’ve been feeling before she showed up. She was glad to have cheered him up some. Thus, she returned the hug and answered,
“You’re welcome.”
Terra wasn’t going to fall into darkness, not if she had anything to say about it. He won’t be led astray. She’d be his anchor to the realm of light. A promise is a promise, which she wholly planned to keep.
Aqua breathed in deep and touched the tip of her paintbrush on the small piece of glass sitting in front of her. Drawing it upwards left the top half in a pretty shade of cyan blue. She continued to paint with delicate and meticulous strokes until she was satisfied with her work. The bottom half was then covered in a dark blue, which almost matched the ocean she imagined in her mind. Once the piece of glass was completely painted over, she gingerly picked it up and set it aside to dry. One down, four more to go before she moved on to the next phase.
She was in the process of making her Wayfinder. She already crafted two others that happened to be sitting off to the side, one in amber and one in green. She hoped to give them to Terra and Ven soon once she was done creating hers. Seeing as how she and Terra were meant to have their Mark of Mastery exam in the near future, they were meant to be good luck charms and Ven was getting one simply because it’d be unfair if he was left out. They also had another purpose to them, something she thought was rather poignant and was the main reason she wanted them.
Wayfinders were said to be designed after star-shaped fruit called Paopu, which were also said to tie friends together. If they carried these on them, nothing would drive them apart. They’d even help find one’s way back to them if they were ever lost. It may be silly of her to believe in this but it struck a chord within her when she first heard it and, in some ways, she wanted it to be true.
The question of what would happen after she and Terra aced their exam had weighed heavily on her mind for some time. Eraqus had told them they could either travel beyond the Land of Departure and expand their horizons or succeed him and protect their world from Darkness. They hadn’t decided yet but she wondered what the aftermath of her choice would be. Would she choose to leave or stay? Whatever it may be, it meant Terra would have to contend with the other. Maybe the reason this was troubling her so much was because a part of her deep down was afraid of losing the two people she considered to be her best friends.
She knew she had nothing to be scared of yet she worried all the same. It wasn’t like the bonds she shared with Ven and Terra were so weak, they’d break upon setting foot outside their home. Their strength would remain steadfast, even if the three of them were far apart from each other. She just needed to remind herself of that whenever she was lost in her thoughts.
The last glass piece was painted and she put it beside the others to dry. With that out of the way, the next thing to do would be setting the five glass pieces into place and soldering them to the frame so they wouldn’t fall out when she held the Wayfinder facing up. It was too late to do it tonight but she would get straight to it after her training tomorrow.
She glanced over to where the other two Wayfinders were sitting. She stood up from her desk, reached her hand out to grab them, and sat back down. They shone brilliantly under the golden light pouring in from her window. A lot’s happened over the last few years.
She never thought Eraqus would take in another apprentice but it was at the behest of an old friend so that’s how Ventus came into the picture. Fragile was the best word to describe him when they first met, like he could collapse at any moment. It fit him even more when he actually did from Terra’s bombardment of questions, falling into an almost come-like state for several days. Her skepticism as to whether he was capable of becoming a Keyblade Master only grew when Eraqus said he was amnesiac and that was why he fainted. How could someone like him become Master when he was so weak, for lack of a better term?
Yet he managed to prove her wrong. The more time he spent with the two of them, the stronger he got, to the point he was able to keep up with them in battle. He wasn’t as powerful as Terra or as magically gifted as her but he made up for it with swiftness and sheer tenacity. The only reason he wasn’t taking the Mark of Mastery exam along with them was because of his age, though she believed it was also due to him needing to outgrow some things, like his rebellious streak for example. He’d be a great Keyblade Master one day, she was sure of it.
Terra’s changed so much over the years. He was no longer a child struggling to keep his head above water as he flailed his Keyblade about. He’s grown into a strong and capable man she was proud to call her friend and rival. He’d be her fellow Master in due time as well and then they’d stand together to protect both theirs and many other worlds from Heartless someday. At least, that’s what she envisioned before things somehow became different between them.
She couldn’t quite explain what changed between her and Terra. It wasn’t like the way they interacted with each other was different from normal. They still met up every day to talk and train so that couldn’t be it. The only thing she noticed was…well, things she had never really noticed from him before. Not that they were never there but they were only starting to make themselves known to her.
Before Ven, she’d only seen three sides to Terra. The dutiful pupil to their master, the reliable confidant to her, and the introspective self-doubter when he thought he was alone. It was only after Ven entered their circle she saw the kind and protective side of him, almost like he was an older brother to him. She always knew those qualities existed within him but it was different seeing them in action to someone other than her. It’s only now she’s really acknowledged them.
He was still her friend but there was a deeper meaning now. Her feelings towards him were different than her feelings towards Ven and maybe that was because she’s known him practically all her life as opposed to the four years for Ven. Maybe all this was was her growing up and becoming an adult, which meant changing feelings and realizing that things were going to be different for her now, whether she liked it or not. Throw in the anxiety of potentially drifting away from him and she was left with a jumbled up mess of complications she struggled to put a label on.
All this was doing was giving her a headache. She should be focusing on the road ahead instead of thinking herself into a corner and letting her mind run wild. She’s so close to accomplishing her dream and she couldn’t risk anything jeopardizing it. Whatever answers she wanted, she’d find them after becoming Master.
She looked down at the Wayfinders still held in her hands and pressed them close to her chest. She let out a heavy sigh as she tried to calm herself. Different was new but it didn’t have to be bad. Change was a part of everyone’s lives and she and Terra were no exceptions.
Things may be different between them but it didn’t mean they were bad. It could mean they were good and she just couldn’t see how yet. As long as they were together, nothing truly bad would happen. That’s what she hoped.
Aqua sat at the end of the dock, watching the sun set over the horizon. A warm, pleasant breeze was blowing through, carrying with it the strong scent of salt. She could hear the ocean’s waves rolling along the sandy shore and leaves from the trees behind her rustling. This was everything she imagined a beach to be like. The only things missing from it were Terra and Ven.
The Destiny Islands was what this world was called. She only stopped by with the intention of taking a short rest but it was after reality began to sink in she had to give herself something more than that. She needed a moment where she could think clearly, decompress, and just breathe. She needed this before going back out there and starting the whole process over again. That’s where she was now.
Where did it all go wrong? She finally managed to achieve her dream of becoming a Keyblade Master but it felt like a hollow victory when it turned out Terra failed the exam on account of his Darkness flaring up again. Then she was asked by their master to keep an eye on him in case he strayed too close to darkness, which she didn’t agree with but knew it was out of concern for him so she followed. It was through that she learned of the questionable acts seemingly committed by Terra and it caused her to doubt him and his resolve. When she met up with him and Ven at Radiant Garden and she revealed the truth of her being there, their trust in her was shattered.
Then she found out Ven was being hunted down by a masked boy, who had ties to Master Xehanort. He’d been pulling strings behind the scenes and he was dragging Terra along for the ride. An encounter with the masked boy in Neverland left her exhausted yet she still trudged on before arriving here. All she was trying to do was make things right so why did it turn out like this?
Maybe she wasn’t cut out to be a Master. They were supposed to keep the balance between light and dark, protect the worlds from malevolent forces. If she couldn’t even protect her best friends, the two people she treasured above all else, then what good was she? Eraqus was wrong in making her a Master, much less his successor. She never should have become one.
She took out her Wayfinder and just held it. The orange hue of the sunset washed away the once vibrant blue into something dull and dark. Her heart grew heavier the longer she looked at it, running her thumb over the token in the center. Nothing would drive them apart, huh?
It was never that she thought of Ven as weak or doubted his capabilities. It was never, ever that. She just wanted him to be safe, to be unharmed because she knew she couldn’t always be there to save him. There was a part of her that still viewed him as the fragile boy she first met who fell comatose from one too many questions. Sure, he’s grown much stronger since then, but she felt the need to protect him regardless. He was her dear friend and she wouldn’t know how to live with herself if he got hurt and she wasn’t there to help him. She’d rather have him hate her for being overbearing than risk losing him because she wasn’t cautious.
She wished she could express how sorry she was to Terra. She vouched for him to Eraqus, swearing he was strong enough to resist the dark temptations, yet hearsay was all it took for her to lose faith in him. Xehanort’s machinations framed him as someone he wasn’t and she fell for it so easily. It honestly pissed her off that he was manipulating and taking advantage of Terra and his trusting nature. While he wasn’t exactly innocent in this, it was clear as to who the real mastermind was. She wanted so badly to apologize to him, to tell him she should never have doubted him.
Her grip on the Wayfinder tightened as she felt her eyes beginning to burn. Did they have theirs still, she wondered. She wanted to believe they did but was it childishly naive of her to cling to that narrow hope?
She was a horrible friend to them. She caused one to lose faith in her and she may as well have betrayed the other. She may have pushed Ven too far away for him to come back and drove Terra further into the darkness. She wouldn’t fault them for wanting nothing to do with her anymore. She wouldn’t, either, if the roles were reversed. Were their bonds now severed?
No, they couldn’t be. The magic she placed on each of their Wayfinders was still active and she could still feel Terra and Ven’s hearts through hers. That had to be her silver lining in this. Even if the cord connecting the three of them together frayed till it was only a thread, that thread was unbreakable.
She needed to protect them. She couldn’t let Xehanort and that masked boy do whatever they wanted with them. They wouldn’t hesitate to save her if she were in the same position so she shouldn’t, either. They were precious to her, she’d do anything, even give her life, if it meant they’d be safe.
She stood up from the dock, Wayfinder still in her hand, and looked up at the now starry sky. She didn’t know where they were but she didn’t need to. Her heart was going to be her guiding key.
They needn’t worry much longer. She was going to find them and the three of them were going to stop whatever Xehanort had planned. Then they would share one more night under the stars, like they had all that time ago.
May they find a way to each other once more.
Aqua watched on in horror as the man in front of her stabbed his Keyblade into his chest. She wanted to cry out his name but she couldn’t find the strength within her to do so, having thoroughly exhausted herself from their fight earlier. His body went slack, his Keyblade vanishing into thin air, as a portal of swirling darkness opened beneath him. He fell back and, quickly realizing where it led to, she dove in after him.
She had to save him. It may not have been Terra, not completely, but his heart was still in his body, she just knew it. Why else would he have let her go when he was so close to finishing her off? She couldn’t leave him to wander in the Realm of Darkness for all eternity. Even if it meant bringing Xehanort back, she’d never forgive herself for doing that to him if he was still in there. She made him a promise and she was damn well going to keep it.
The first thing she noticed was how cold it was. It wasn’t freezing but it was still too chilly for her liking, evident from her shivering. She felt like she was stuck in an empty black void as she searched around for any sign of Terra. She was eventually able to find a dim light just a few meters below her, a light she recognized as his. Summoning her Keyblade, she changed its form to that of her Glider and raced towards the light, not once taking her eyes off it.
It didn’t take long to reach him. The light grew dimmer and dimmer the closer she got before dimming completely upon seeing him. He looked to be just sleeping, even when he was plummeting straight down to what she considered to be hell. She grabbed onto his arm and struggled to lift him onto her Glider, only managing to accomplish that feat by sheer force of will. Giving him a quick once-over revealed no visible wounds and he seemed to be breathing normally. Relieved that he was physically all right, she turned the Glider around and began heading back up.
She had him and he was going to be okay. They would be back in Radiant Garden soon and she was going to fix him. She and whoever else could help her were going to find a way to get Xehanort’s heart out of him. Then she and him would go home and wake Ven up, like she said they would. They’d be together again. Their master may be gone now but they’d have each other to lean on and support. The hope of them being reunited again was the only thing keeping her going at this point. After everything that’s happened, she needed this to come true. She almost wanted to pray to whatever power there be to grant her wish, to give her this.
Well, a deity or some other higher being there was heard her and sneered. Her heart dropped once she saw the portal they came in from starting to close. They were still so far away and it was shrinking with each passing second. It would be gone by the time they reached it, leaving them stuck in the Realm of Darkness with no way out. She looked over at Terra’s unconscious form and, knowing what had to be done, made her choice without any hesitation.
That was when it hit her. She finally found her answer and she wanted to scold herself for taking so long to realize it. She finally knew what Terra was to her and it was so easy, so simple to understand that there was really no excuse. He wasn’t just a friend to her, he was more than that, he deepened beyond that. It was only natural, in some ways, for her to have fallen for him.
She loved him. She loved everything about him, from his ability to want to see the good in people to his devotion to her and Ven. She can scarcely remember a life where he wasn’t a part of it nor did she want such a life. He was irreplaceable, someone she confided in, a man she could talk to about anything without fear of judgment. He was her rock, her dearly beloved. She loved him, which was why she was able to decide on her fate with little regret.
She was going to take his place. Her promise came out of a love different from what it was now but she planned to uphold it all the same. Her love for Terra was stronger than her hatred of the man possessing him and she couldn’t bear to leave him behind to die in a hellish wasteland. It only hurt to know she wouldn’t be there to help guide him back home, to her and Ven.
She disembarked from her Glider and went around to the side. Terra appeared to be holding onto the handles somewhat, which seemed to be the only reason he was staying on it instead of falling. She brushed the back of her hand against his cheek before resting it on his, giving it a gentle squeeze. She was going to miss him when she was gone but this was for the best.
“We’ll meet again someday.” She squeezed his hand again. “Even if so much time has passed, we’ll meet again.” She was giving both him and herself false hope. “I’ll always be with you, okay?” She didn’t believe she would find a way out. “Goodbye, Terra.”
Then she let go and began falling. She didn’t take her eyes off him once as she fell, even when it became too dark for her to see him clearly. She wanted him to be the last thing she saw if she were to possibly die in the next few moments. She only wished she could’ve amended things between her, Terra, and Ven before their grand battle in the Keyblade Graveyard but she was resigned to contend with this. She’d be okay with taking that regret to her grave.
Tears rolled down her cheeks but she smiled through them. She saved him from a fate of wandering the dark realm alone. She hoped Terra would win out in his fight against Xehanort and reclaim his body as the image of him finally disappeared from her sight. Maybe, just maybe, they’d meet again in the next life.
She closed her eyes as she let the darkness overtake her. It was then she heard herself say those three little words that carried with them so much meaning. Whether she said them aloud or she only imagined she did, it didn’t matter. All she wanted was for those words to reach Terra’s heart, to let him know why she did what she did. That was her last thought before succumbing to the cold.
“I love you.”
Babe wake up im going to rant about my ocs lore because im bored
Tw/cw depression, suicide, kidnapping, addiction, unreality
I write angsty stuff for my ocs oops-
When i first started making my characters they were very different in alot of ways and they were very different from what they are now. But i some how managed to glue all the chaos of my ocs together into a semi-coherent story. I went through an insane amount of world building with myself and i honestly dont think ive ever writen or typed any of it out before! its all just up in my head (and you know my memory is trash so ive probably forgotten of alot of things i made before lol). Anyways- i have two main story lines for my characters. Ethan's story, and Vevlet's story. Although i must admit Ethan's story is less complex than velvets simply beacsue it acts as a story of prequeal to Velvets story line. (Alternate realities that happen to have effect on each other basically- we love space time junk)
Ethan's world is very similar to ours, the most similar out of any of my fantasy worlds lol. Ethan's story revolves around self-discovery. I mean for it to be a wholesome/lighthearted thing that quickly leads up to dark undertones (spoilers lol). Ethan's story begins with Eef pre-transition (AFAB to NB). We get to see Ethan learn about themself and have fun exploring emotions and what it means to be alive. Ethan comes from a run-down family (mom khs, dad mia). So he lives with his adoptive parents (who i have yet to design and think about- theyre lesbians 100% though). A major moment for Eef is meeting his partner Seth. As you already know Ethan and Seth are cute ass boyfriends and stuff but guess what! im jammed their story full of angst and edgy shit bc i "wrote" most of this when i was hella depressed! Anyways Seth's family is like moderally welathy, wealthier than most i would say. Seth catches feelings for the emo chick ofc (forgot to metion Eef was definately a hot goth girl before he transitions).... uh yea anyways seth ends up flirting and crushing on eef and eef is like yea sure im bored and sad why not. and they end up dating after a while. Theres an important moment in their relationship when Ethan take Seth to this dead tree. THis dead tree is very important also bc it is where his mother hanged herself, and Ethan doesnt quite remember that bc he was very young when it happened, but he knows it as a place of comfort and he goes there alot when he feels sad or alone. this tree could be taken as symbolizim but heheh ill never tell. anyways Ethan is like yo my fevorite tree and Seth is like wtf okay bro ily and all but why a dead tree with an unstable tire swing?? ANd ethans like idk but i like it here reminds me of my childhood (op my guy) and they spend the night there. Also when ethan comes out to seth as nonbinary seth is just like ok,,, because hes bisexual lol. anyways time skip and Seth has some addiction problems once he graduates, long story short- Ethan doesnt like it bc his dad was a druggie so he trys to help Seth and Seth raises his voice and ethan is tiny compared to his bf so hes naturally like terrified of being hit and he suddenly feels his world of happy and peace he build back up bieng destroyed once again so he heads to his mothers dead tree and decides life isnt worth it anymore, and he hangs himself in the exact spot his mother did.... once seth comes off one of his highs or whatever hes like- oh fuck i yelled and acted agro to my traumatized partner. and he immedatly goes to the tree bc its Ethans favortie spot but its to late. regret is the only emootion anymore... its over for them.
now youre probably wondering how the absolute hell does that tie into velvets lore?? well do i have a tale for you. Velvets sotry begins on her 21st birthday, she is out for drinks with her douchebag bf and her bestfriend. several drinks later she yells over blaring club music shes going to the restroom, and as shes walking back she sees her bf and her bestie making out and she doesnt even say anyhting and walks out alone. She is making her way back to her apartment very tipsy. She then hears a vechile driving beside her, she cant make out anyhting theyre saying and the people in the car get out and before she even relises whats going on shes thrown into the vechile and is being beaten and yelled at. She passes out as theyre driivng to somewhere. When she next awakes she is in a barn-looking place. Concreate walls painted red and straw all over the floor. she cant stand, her legs stung and so did her entire body. for several days- she doesnt know how long she stayed in this place unable to move or do anything. Weak and starving, she gathered up her last bit of strength and hung herself on a low board (havent really worked out the details on that scence bc i keep changing my mind but she does hang herself). Cut to a space of nothingness- legit nothing- exactly its impossible to imagine nothing. In the nothing sits velvet all skin and bone, and then an entity, a hooded figure with long hair, sits next to her. No words are spoke, but the entity looks at velvet longingly. Then it tears out its eye- just full on plunges its hand into its socket and rips it out. bloody mess honestly. the entity hands its eye to velvet, and she takes it. there is no thoughts here, no sound, only actions. Cut once more to a coriners room place? ya know the place with dead bodies and tables and shit- anyways a bright light emerges from dead!vevlets chest and surrounds her entire body. *cue stunned doctor mans* Velvet arises from her death with her scars healed over and... wings. Yup shes an angel now. I mean her world already had monsters and things of suppernatural belonging but- angels are rare. She makes 1 of 2 angels in their relam as of current. Angels are "made" from regrets. Regret overflowing from two sources- one long dead and the other recent. This is where ethan comes in. Ethan's regret from how he died was powerful and sad, powerful enough for his spirt- an entity- to reach Velvets. Velvet too, had much regret in her death. So young and so many things that could have been avoided. In the days following up to her death in the barn/cellar she only felt regret. Regret for all she did and all she didnt do. So much pain summoned the entity. Their powerful forces of regret pulled them together and allowed Velvet to return- but at a price for the both of them. the entity lost its eye- symbolizing a loss of humanity and conscientiousness. While Velvet lost herself, she no longer can view her world in the same way. She has severe ptsd- like episodes and halucinations. She cant go back, she has to live through he own grief. Velvets appearnace also changes quite a bit. Her hair got longer, she has two sleek gray wings on her back, and- one of her eyes are purple now. why does it hrut her to see that eye? why is it all so familiar yet far away. Her human brain can hardly understand all the changes. But she was gifted this- she knows she must try. And luckily for her society sees angels as higher beings. They are given the umost respect but they are also greatly feared because of how misterious their origins are. The only other known angel meets with velvet quite alot through her story, he will act as a sort of guide/plot device to make things a bit easier for myself (havent worked out his lore tho or even a design for him hjbfkjsdb). Anyways im tired and its 1:35 am so thats all the lore you get for now, plus its the stuff ive thought about the most so- i dont really want to think any furtherb ahead yet lol. to many little things to work out...... i love creating but oml typing hurts after an hour or so-
Jam out!
... I don't even know what to say to this
it's only been two days and i'm already missing whumptober 😔i am craving sneezefucker phoenix so like... if you're interested 👀
Anon I love you and also of course I’m interested :3
Your wish shall be granted under the cut.
Phoenix drummed the table with his fingers. He knew Miles wanted to make this a particularly special dinner, being their first night out since Phoenix had earned his badge back, but Miles was taking so long to arrive that Phoenix wondered if there was a mix-up in how the couple interpreted the reservation time.
The hostess took him to his table fine enough, so Phoenix knew he wasn’t the one who had misinterpreted the time. Why didn’t he and Miles just take the car and arrive together? Phoenix sighed through his nose and checked his phone, pleased to see Miles at least sent him an update.
Going to be late, love. Just left my last errand; on my way now. Sincerely, Miles Edgeworth.
The timestamp was a minute ago, which meant, depending on distance and traffic, Miles could be at the restaurant anywhere from five minutes to a half hour.
Phoenix took another sip of the sparkling grape juice he thought was in a far too expensive glass for a nonalcoholic beverage. It wasn’t that he couldn’t have ordered wine, which would have been more appropriate; he didn’t even drive, anyway. He just had a hunch that if Miles were to keep him waiting for long, he’d find himself absentmindedly sipping to the point of being inebriated before Miles even arrived.
He knew well enough it wasn’t polite to stare, but Phoenix found his eyes wandering, imagining what conversations the other elegantly dressed diners could be having. It may not have been the most mature thing to do, but it passed the time.
Was that... Winston Payne and his wife? So it was true Payne’s wife was quite the catch, like an older version of the models Larry would attract somehow. Phoenix ducked his head as soon as Mrs. Payne turned her head in his direction.
“HrnxXT... gh.” The sound of a stifled sneeze perked Phoenix’s ears enough for him to look up.
“Hey, what took you so long?” Phoenix should’ve known the instant he felt his face heat up at the sight of a map of pink on Miles’s face, most prevalent under his eyes, just barely visible behind his glasses. Of course, if Phoenix wasn’t, well, Phoenix, he’d know from the large bouquet Miles was barely hiding behind his back. “Babe, you shouldn’t have.” Miles really shouldn’t have, for both the obvious reason and the fact they were in public.
“Do you like theb?” Miles’s smile contrasting with the clearly irritated features of his face made Phoenix want to stare for a longer time than what would be comfortable. He placed the bouquet carefully in the vase the restaurant had provided for romantic gestures such as this. “Flowers have a whole ladguage, I’ve heard. The florist said... saihhh-- HH’RnnXT!! HhNNXTT... guh. Excuse be. She said this bouquet was perfect for todight.” He sat across from Phoenix, almost giving him a show as he sniffed.
“Uuhh-huh,” was all Phoenix could coax out of his mouth. He anxiously fumbled his hands inside his suit jacket pocket. When Miles helped him pick out his new suit for work, a set of handkerchiefs accompanied the purchase, so at least one of them resided in each pocket Phoenix owned. He normally wouldn’t dare offer one for a purpose other than wiping lingering raindrops off Miles’s glasses, but tissue boxes were not exactly a common find at such an elegant establishment. Without another word, he presented the square of soft cloth with both hands, thinking how he could just die right here.
“Oh, thagk you, sweetheart.” Miles had to use some force to pry the handkerchief from Phoenix’s tight grip. He was just barely in time to use it for an extended stifling effort. “HhrrNNKTT! HnnXTT! HnggXXT!! HggKXTT... gh.” There was a wet quality that could be heard each time he pinched his nose.
Phoenix would have focused on eye contact with Miles if it weren’t for those glistening allergic tears making his face almost as damp as the handkerchief against his nose. Oh god, he was rubbing his eyes with his thumb and index finger.
“W-What do you want to order, hon?” Phoenix choked on his words. Miles was doing this to him on purpose, wasn’t he? The prosecutor may have been the type to show his affection with gifts from time to time, but Phoenix would eat his hat if this was merely a romantic gesture. “Um, bless you, by the way.”
“Oh, I’m hardly done.” Miles laughed, again going right for Phoenix’s racing heart. “There’s a lobster dish made especially for couples to share, if you’re interested.”
“I’m very interested!” Phoenix slapped his hand to his mouth and cleared his throat. “In the lobster dish, I mean.” He heard that light wet sniffle that served as a warning another fit was on its way.
“Just a moment, love.” Miles held the handkerchief slightly farther away, giving Phoenix full view of his twitching pre-sneeze expression. “HiigGXTT! HigkXNTT! HrgxxNTT... kh.”
“I don’t think, um,” Phoenix swallowed, “stifling like that is good for you.”
“Look at where we are.” Miles used both hands to hold the handkerchief when blowing his nose into it. He had to know he was driving Phoenix wild.
Why wouldn’t he look at where they were?
“Oh, uh, the server’s coming to our table!” Phoenix frantically waved his hand to let the server know he and Miles were ready, desperately needing to take his mind off everything Miles was doing to him.
“Are you alright, sir?” The server’s voice was gentle enough on Phoenix’s ears to distract him from his mind’s broken record of Miles’s recent stifles.
“I’m fine, ma’am!” Phoenix blurted out. If he looked anything like how he felt right now, he was sure someone ought to have called an ambulance by now.
“I mean your date.” She smiled.
“Oh, it’s nothing.” Miles shrugged. “Just hay fever.”
He said that. He really said that. Yup, Phoenix was definitely going to die here.
The server glanced over at the full vase and made a face without saying anything. She proceeded to take the couple’s order, periodically blessing Miles after every single sneeze interrupting his inquiries on various wines. When she left, Phoenix let out a heavy sigh of relief.
“Why didn’t you take anything, babe? If you really wanted to give me flowers, you could have taken some precautions.” Phoenix avoided saying anything that would make him even more flustered than he was now. Had he already crossed the threshold of merely being flustered? Most likely, yes.
“I was under the impression we would be drinking tonight.” Miles gently dabbed his eyes with one of the few dry corners of the handkerchief. “Antihistamines greatly lower my alcohol tolerance.”
“I thought that was just you being a lightweight.” Phoenix laughed nervously.
“Tonight is very special, after all. Why not celebrate?”
“Yeah, I guess it is.” Phoenix finished off his grape juice so as to not make a waste before the wine would be delivered. “Our first date since I got my badge back. It means so much to me that you’ve been such a great help, to both me and Trucy all these years.” Phoenix caressed Miles’s hands from across the table. “Thank you so much.”
“I think it could be--” Phoenix’s grip tightened as he watched Miles’s expression change, preventing Miles from pulling away for another stifle. “Sweetheart, I need t-to... HH’RRSHHOOOH! HU’RRSHCHOO! H’RRSSHOO!!”
Phoenix was so caught up in his fascination that it hardly dawned on him how quiet his surroundings became after Miles sneezed. Luck was in his favor when he only came back to the moment once the diners shrugged off the noise and returned to their own conversations.
“I hate to say it, but that felt a lot better.” Miles blew his nose again. Did he always get this pink when his allergies were acting up for this long? That shade of pink was taking up a rank in Phoenix’s favorite colors.
The stellar customer service advertised in the online reviews was evident with the quick arrival of both the wine and meal. Other than Phoenix’s quick glance at the server to thank her, he couldn’t keep his eyes off Miles.
He had every opportunity to steal an extra bite each time he saw Miles hopelessly, furiously rubbing under his nose, but he abstained. He thought back to Miles teasing him for being in a similar situation when the two visited Phoenix’s mother, whose family of cats seemed to grow every time they visited her. Of course, the comments Miles made then were mostly regarding the irony of Phoenix’s circumstances rather than the temptation to steal the last slice of Mrs. Wright’s homemade pumpkin pie.
Phoenix felt a pleasurable tingling in his mouth that forced him to smile as he swallowed some wine, not losing eye contact with Miles for even a moment.
“Phoenix Wright.” Miles using his full name grabbed Phoenix’s full attention to bring him to his senses. “I think I’ve had you on the edge of your seat long enough.”
What was this about? He was messing with him after all, wasn’t he?
“You think?” Phoenix’s voice cracked.
Miles smirked and stood up. He sent Phoenix’s heart out of his chest by leaning forward, face first into the bouquet, looking for something inside. So he meant Phoenix on the edge of his seat just waiting to keel over?
“Ah here it is.” Miles looked up, even more pink and dripping, no, streaming than before. He slid his hand in and out of the vase, making a fist. Whatever he was holding was small enough for him to use the same hand to pinch his nose. “HhgkKXT! HihgxXNTT!!” He let go of his nose and presented his elbow with the duty of muffling his sneezes. “Oh, I cad’t do this ady lohger. HuURSSHHOOOH! Hr’RRSSHOO!”
“Oh my god.” Phoenix at last allowed himself to say something. He watched Miles crouch down on one knee. “Oh my god.”
Miles smirked; his timing was perfect, as he planned. He prepared himself, nose and all, for what he was so eager to say.
“It’s been an honor, no, a blessing to be your boyfriend.” He waited for the pun to register with Phoenix before he opened his hand to reveal a ring resting on his palm. “Would you further bless me by being my husband?”
Phoenix felt weightless as he took the ring. He knew he was going to accept; why wouldn’t he? In all but legal documents, he and Miles had been essentially married since Phoenix moved in with him eight years ago. But what would he say? Was a simple ‘yes’ too easy? Then it hit him that Miles was going for something here.
In that case,
“Bless you, hon.”
Tagged by @yumingyesfairy - thanks! I suck at these, but I love being tagged in things, so... Let’s try. XD
rules: answer 30 questions and tag however many blogs you want!
name: Silvy
gender: afab, though gender expression’s never been very important to me
star sign: Cancer
height: 5’5”/169cm
time: noon
birthday: July 19
favourite bands: I suck at keeping track of names and as often as not go for covers... But Poets of the Fall are good. Some Depeche Mode? Probably others, but I literally couldn’t say. My memory’s pathologically bad, literally.
favourite solo artists: That’s even harder! I don’t know! *sobs* I vibe with songs, not artists!
last movie: Soul.
last show: The Untamed, probably.
when did i create this blog: 2011, I think?
what i post: The Untamed, more Untamed, my own art, stuff for my 100k+ Untamed fanfic, meta, gifs, fun stuff that comes up on my dash and that I reblog, the occasional social justice stuff. Cats and ocean stuff and some history.
last thing i googled: Obscure stuff for my fic, no doubt... No wait, it was pictures of lotus leaves to use as refs for this week’s chapter illustration!
other blogs: @silvysbettaboys which is awfully neglected lately. Pictures of my betta fish. XD
do i get asks: I do, and I love them, and I’m a sloth at replying on low-spoon days, but I try to get around to it! Just... slowly. Sorry. Please talk to me! I love it!
why i chose my url: My usual handle, “Silvestris”, was already taken by the time I joined tumblr. Silvy started out as my online nickname, but it’s been my legal name as well for over 10 years now. The ‘artfulness’ is a pun referring both to the amount of original art I make, as well as me being a sneaky tricksy fucker at times. ♥
following: 114
followers: 1356
instruments: None. These hands are for drawing, not playing music, alas.
what i am wearing: A long black turtleneck tunic, black sweater pants and sick purple slippers with leopard print. Also a rust-red cardigan because it’s cold.
dream job(s): I thought it was to be an illustrator, and then I became one. (Turns out you have to deal with entitled people who treat you like a soulless art machine, and it sucks.) Can I just draw my own stuff and write fanfic full time?
dream trip: I want to go back to Bali so bad. Dreaming about it has kept me a given value of sane during the pandemic. I truly hope I’ll have a chance to visit again, it may just be the most beautiful place I’ve ever been in the world. But I’d also love to go to the US and meet up with friends!
favourite foods: varies from day to day, but Chinese is always a safe bet. Home made pizza with chèvre. Ice cream, that counts as food, right?
nationality: Swedish
favourite song: Varies often, but I keep coming back to Show Must Go On (either Queen’s original or various covers) and In Your Room (Depeche Mode) for multiple fandoms. Lately it’s been Saints by Echos, since the mood fits the current chapters of my fic so well (thanks for the tip, @lepetiterik!)
last book i read: I very rarely read actual books these days, I’m that stereotypical “used to read all the time, now I can’t focus” adhd poster child, apparently. It may have been something by Terry Pratchett, those books I will always love. Last fic I read was Blood In Your Mouth by @veliseraptor last night, since it’s so friggin good and I go back to read bits and pieces repeatedly. ♥
top 3 fictional universes: The Untamed, my own original storyverse Pangaea and. Uh. I don’t know. There are others I like, but none that I’m super-invested in lately. MCU, Discworld, KH-verse etc are places I have lived, but don’t really do anymore.
I tag: anyone who wants to do it? I’m really bad at this part. @veliseraptor @ameliarating @chigrima @soawen @orodrethsgeek if you guys feel like it? :)
Ok so I listened to the song, both versions! I actually hadn't heard it before. I actually liked the KHS version better for this one too. Maybe it's the piano, or maybe the singers just feel more emotional in their performance but I do tend to be biased towards KHS covers in general xD
As far as the song goes. I feel like some lyrics are very spot on. The "earthquake" being the time travel cuz it literally shook both Five and the Readers entire worlds. I feel like the first verse could very easily be contemplating Five and regretting that he stranded reader. I can see him thinking of her spending time with her parents "watching television" and going out to Griddys etc and feeling guilty he took her away from the familiarity of her life. He stranded her and he doesn't even know where in time she is which would weigh on him because he loves her and he'd feel that if he deserves to get stuck in the apocalypse as punishment for his hubris, reader didn't deserve to be stranded and it would eat him up inside.
The second verse is reader's. I can imagine her remembering the memories she shared with Five and the fact that she trusted him meant that she didn't feel scared of his time traveling when it happened and even though it uprooted her and she had to rearrange her entire life, she still settled down relatively easily. Her "trying to imagine (his) reaction" could be a reference to her fear that he's still mad at her. And the last lyrics of the verse, of course, as time goes on and she makes friends she learns how to cope with the pain of losing him but she feels it all the same and misses him extremely even if she's learnt how to swallow that pain. It still "rips her heart out" but she learns how to tolerate it.
The chorus, cuz im a sucker for angst, I can imagine Five thinking in his most vulnerable moments all alone, wishing reader was with him. The world has ended and on especially lonely nights when he's sick and delirious, he's extra selfish and wishes he had brought her along for the final jump so at least they'd be together. He'd probably immediately feel guilty for thinking so but that's why "would you love me for the hell of it". He knows he already stranded her in time and feels sick he's wishing she witness the apocalypse with him when there is nothing to live for but his worst fears are asking the questions he's always longed to know and that is if she loves him and would be willing to suffer with him like he would for her (cuz the only reason he'd keep going after witnessing his family and readers death is the promise that he wants to save them).
And from the chorus from reader's perspective: I can feel her wondering if Five would come back to her and she'd "hold him tight" even in extreme circumstances. Maybe she wouldn't think of the world ending but I don't doubt there would be times she'd be so miserable she'd wish something, anything, would happen to her or her life in general so that Five would come back for her. She's no damsel in distress but I think the exception can be made here because Five and Reader are pretty much both wishing the other would save them from their loneliness and the ache they're feeling.
The only part I feel that doesn't fit is the pre-chorus of the song says they both believed they weren't "down for forever" or "meant for each other" cuz I feel like it's inaccurate to their relationship as we know it. But I can also feel it as a sort of self loathing or self blaming tactic they occasionally take on. Sort of like bargaining that "I know they'd never feel the same way. Its ok if he/she doesn't love me, I just want them back in my life".
Anyway, yeah you asked for my thoughts and I delivered an essay xD i wish I could help it but I'm an English major so... It very much gets out of hand very easily 😅 what do you think? (Also i decided to go ahead and come off anon for this altho im still quite shy so most of my other asks will probs still be anon if it's not in DM 😅)
I totally agree. In the first verse, it’s definitely Five looking back on what he had done. Especially since he didn’t mean it. Like the lines “I was distracted...I didn’t feel it when the earthquake happened”. He was so distracted by the anger at his father that he didn’t realize he had brought her through time. And he didn’t feel or know about the effects of what he’d done until it was too late. And with the lines “It's been a year now. Think I've figured out how. How to let you go and let communication die out.” It’s definitely him coping with being in the apocalypse alone but more so him trying to cope with being without her. She died in his arms so he’s trying to figure out how to live with not having her around or to talk to.
Your take on the second verse is spot on but I also think in addition to her not being afraid of his time travel, with the line “It didn't scare me when the earthquake happened” she was so focused on making sure that Five was okay that she wasn’t afraid of anything else going on, she was just scared about what was going on with her friend.
For the chorus I love your interpretation, I am a big sucker for angst too. I also think that the line “All our fears would be irrelevant” could mean a lot. Like in terms of Five, the fears he experiences in the apocalypse, the fear of thinking that the reader still thinks he’s upset with her, and then the fears of those questions like you mentioned. If he was back with the reader all of that would become irrelevant, it wouldn’t matter if they were back together again. And for the reader, her fear of him still being mad at her and her fear of not knowing what to do without her best friend also wouldn’t matter if they were back together again.
Also, I can see where you were coming from with the pre-chorus. I think the pre-chorus though, “I know, you know, we know, You weren't down for forever and it's fine. I know, you know, we know, We weren't meant for each other and it's fine.” I think not only is it a blaming tactic like you said but also it’s a coping mechanism to minimize the hurt of their feelings. By thinking oh it’s not forever oh we weren’t meant to be they’re trying to eliminate the heightened feelings of hurt that come from losing someone you loved and cared for so much.
Also, I am a journalism major so I totally get that thoughts on the meaning of things can get very out of hand haha. Language is so deep and everything becomes an in-depth analysis and an essay.
kh’s story snippet celebration sendoff, entry #6
God, what do I even say about this piece? It's so old - the timestamp from my FF.net import says 2012 - and I don't remember much about it. I almost left it out of this collection after cringing my way through a re-read of the first paragraph. Then, I made myself reframe the narrative.
This piece needs to be here; it shows how far I've come as a writer.
Don't let anyone tell you that fanfic is a waste of time. Just look at this piece compared to my recent projects! I'm living proof that fanfic is every bit as valid for honing your craft as traditional written media
Fandom: Naruto Pairing: Sai/Sakura Haruno Word Count: 2931 Genre: canon-divergence!AU Rating: T Warnings: canon-typical violence
... [ hypocritical ]
Pain.
The dull throb of injury greeted Sai as his consciousness reluctantly returned to him. This particular circumstance perplexed him greatly. Had he not been merely put to sleep? Sakura's loyalty was steadfast and her medical skills knew no equal but that of their esteemed Hokage, of this much he was certain. Therefore, the probability that this harm was inflicted by her drug, hastily administered though it was, seemed highly unlikely. No, this feeling was not akin to that of being poisoned. Nor did it seem to come from any external wound; a quick scan of his person negated that possibility. Yet, it was still very clear to him that all was not right or as it should be. His throat felt unbelievably tight, the sensation bringing to mind scenes of Naruto shoving complete bowls of ramen down his throat in a singular motion. Sai's heart raced uncontrollably, palpitating to a foreign rhythm, and his insides quaked. There was something wrong with him internally.
Nearby, his companions began to stir. As they also scanned for injuries, all the while cursing Sakura for her heroic stupidity, it became clear to Sai that he alone suffered from any malady. He rose gingerly, taken aback by how easily he could still function in spite of all his present symptoms, and questioned Kiba for his teammate's last known trajectory. The best course of action, for now, would be to find Sakura before his symptoms got worse. With but a nod, he left his temporary workmates and headed out in search of the pink-haired kunoichi.
Sai dashed through the woodland at breakneck speed, something as of yet unnamed urging him on. Something about the whole situation unsettled him. He should have anticipated Sakura's actions and been ready with a countermeasure. Becoming her victim was irresponsible and now his comrade could be engaged in a treacherous encounter with that traitor, possibly without backup; whether or not Kakashi had caught up to her in time remained to be seen. Her tenacity, even with her insane strength, would be no match for the Uchiha prodigy. It was as clear as needing air to breathe. Surely Sakura herself could see that. She had proven time and time again over that her intelligence was more than adequate. Why then would she willingly engage in actions where death was not only possible but the most probable outcome? The shinobi's stomach lurched, forcing him to stall his forward progress in favor of retching in the forest undergrowth. He had no time to waste now, his symptoms now progressing.
Another half-hour of hurdling over branches did little to ease his discomfort. A cold sweat, unrelated to his current exertions, came over Sai making his hands unnaturally clammy. Barely perceptible, yet uncontrollable shaking started to take a hold of him. His body was starting to go into shock. He would need to find her soon.
Sai lost all track of the distance he had traveled, the trees and thickets becoming but a verdant blur in the peripheral. It was of no consequence anyway. His mind was too clouded to focus on those kinds of details anymore. Instead he focused what was left of his cerebral capacity on what he considered to be his mission objectives: to find and determine the condition of one Sakura Haruno, and to have her administer a thorough health examination on his person. As Sai mentally rallied around these precepts, her chakra signature finally came into range. The worn shinobi redoubled his efforts. His reward finally came into view, accompanied by silver and gold and black, and Sai dropped from the sky with a resounding thud.
"Took you long enough to catch up." A weary, whiskered grin greeted him. "Sakura sure knows how to pack a punch, huh? And not just with her fist."
Sai merely nodded. His exertions had taken a toll on him and for the moment he was finding it hard to catch his breath. Non-verbal means of communication would have to do for the moment. And so his black eyes became intent on catching the attention of a pair of viridian ones. It did not take long.
"Sai? Are you okay?" Sakura gave her blonde teammate her half of their current burden, a half-dead kunoichi, and rushed over to Sai with healing chakra at the ready. "You look awful. My sleeping potion shouldn't have had any adverse effects. Were you attacked?"
The moment she touched his damp forehead, the symptoms began to ease. His heartbeat slowed to a near-normal pace and the tension in his muscles started to give way. "No. I... I don't..."
"I can't find anything wrong with you," the kunoichi replied after letting her chakra probe his entire form, puzzlement showing clearly on her face. "Talk to me, Sai. What's going on?"
"I woke up in pain, but I couldn't locate any wounds. It has to be something internal. I think my body started to go into shock. But..." Though his expression remained stoic, his eyes reflected confusion.
"But what?"
"I do not understand. You haven't treated me, but the symptoms are subsiding."
"Sakura," their tired sensei spoke up. "Check his tongue."
"Okay?" Sakura turned back to her patient. "You heard the man. Open up. Now, what am I looking for?"
"A seal. Danzo placed one on every member of Root. It was supposed to keep them quiet, but I have a feeling it sealed more than just their words."
"Are you sure, Sensei?" The pink head turned towards Kakashi for confirmation. "There's nothing here."
"The seal must have broken when Danzo died." The older man scratched his head. "Normally seals don't work like that. They stay in place even after the one who placed it there gets killed."
"I don't get it." Naruto chimed in. "Then why would Sai's seal be gone?"
"Well, his methods were questionable at best, but he was loyal to the village." Kakashi sighed. "My initial guess is that Sai has some information that Danzo thought may be of use to us in the event of his death. I doubt there's anything wrong with Sai. He's probably just feeling the after-effects of the seal being removed."
"I see. Then it could be possible..." She turned back to Sai, a sudden realization dawning in her eyes. "What were your symptoms? I need all of them in the order in which they appeared."
"Constricted airway, heart palpitations, a dull ache in my abdomen, nausea, shaking and cold sweats."
"Okay. You probably felt your throat, heart, and stomach first, right?" The girl tapped her cheek as she sorted out her theories.
"Yes."
"The nausea came later?" His nod confirmed some suspicions, so she continued with her line of questioning. "What were you doing when it came? Were you thinking about something?"
"I left the others to resume my mission. I..." The words left his mouth slowly, reluctant to be heard. "I was thinking that only a stupid kunoichi would drug her teammates so she could run into a suicide mission alone."
"Sai." His name fell softly from her lips and his eyes became glassy. Her lithe arms lifted to embrace his neck. "I'm sorry I worried you."
The warmth of her body against his was strangely comforting, so Sai chose to mimic her posture. "Did he hurt you?"
"Yes." The word came out as a sob and Sakura squeezed him just a bit tighter. "But I'll be okay."
"Good." Sai closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then detached himself from Sakura. "An injured medic is of no use to her team."
"You stupid..." Sakura paused mid-punch. The faint track of a fallen tear graced his tactless cheek. Breaking his face no longer held any appeal, so she contented herself with a measured thump to his shoulder. "Whatever. Let's just get home."
Chapter 2: reclamation
Running without sparing the slightest moment to turn back, determination and desperation lent their power to her limp limbs. In a maze of ever-growing darkness, she wandered. Alone. The silence filled her soul with dread, its death toll ringing in her ears. How long had she been running, been searching? It felt like countless fathoms of time with the quiet, suffocating loneliness contorting her senses. But onwards she ran just the same, hoping beyond all hope that something, anything would change this state of purgatory in which she found herself. Just what had she been searching for? It had been so long, even she forgot. All that was left was to go on. And though she knew to do so bordered heavily on the side of insanity, on she went. And on. And on. Always running. Always moving forward. She was hurtling herself headlong into her destiny and the outcome, she remembered only as it became too late, was always the same. The electric blade, crackling with some emotion between love and hate, ravaged the recess that once held her heart and ended her struggle. She was caught in the red.
Sakura awoke in a cold sweat, gasping for breath. Her hands came to her chest of their own accord, trying in vain to cover the ache of betrayal that now resided there. It was becoming a morning ritual. It took but a moment to collect her faculties, the shock value of such torturous nightmares dulling with each successive night that they had been endured. It had been ten days since her brush with death at the hands of her most beloved and Sakura was no shrieking violet.
The first night had been the worst. In her panic, she had roused the rest of the team and their prisoner with her struggling. When the spell of the nightmare finally broke, thanks to a sound slap from their venerable sensei, Sakura whispered her fake assurances and rearranged her bedroll. She could feel the knowing eyes of the scarlet prisoner on her for the rest of the night. Contempt for her own weakness, rather than that of his discarded pawn, ran through Sakura's veins under the scrutiny of that gaze. Sleep would continue to elude her.
The next few days were but a blur. Arriving at the village, handing in mission reports, and reporting for duty at the hospital were second nature enough that she could perform these tasks on autopilot. She had joined the ranks of the walking dead. It took a couple of days, but eventually, her friends staged an intervention. It took another bit of friendly violence, this time supplied by an indignant Ino, to set her straight, but it was effective. She went to plotting. After all, one should play to one's strengths and Sakura had always been known to have an intelligent head on her shoulders.
It took a couple more days for her to realize that there were holes, numerous and large ones, in the scheme she was cooking up. Like it or not, Sakura was going to have to call in some back-up. Invitations went out and she lost no time in starting preparations. Time would be of utmost importance; some of the major players could not be counted upon to stay in the village for any length of time.
One by one they arrived, exchanging smiles and civilities before being seated at the kunoichi's small dining table. Sakura did a fair job of hostess duties, pouring tea and filling plates with second and third portions, in between fielding off-color comments between the two younger males attending. When the eating and drinking and carousing seemed to slow, she smiled and began clearing the used dishes.
"It was a pleasant meal, Sakura." The silver-haired shinobi seated at the head of the gathering handed over his empty plate. "But what are we really here for?"
"Observant as always, sensei." The girl added his plate to the pile growing near the sink. "I think it's time we discussed what should be done about Sasuke."
"Sakura." Her name came across Naruto's lips as an impatient growl. "There is nothing to discuss. I already promised you that I would bring him home to you. I don't go back on my promises."
"I'm not asking you to. I'm just asking how we intend on doing it." Sakura spoke carefully, making eye contact with all there as she did so.
"We?" The blonde stood up, knocking the chair out from under him as he did so. "Oh no! I don't think so. You're not going anywhere near him again! It's my responsibility. I'll bring him home."
"We've already discussed this." A sigh came from the direction of their sensei. "Sasuke is my responsibility. He was placed in my care."
"No, sensei. It's me he wants and I'm..."
The table between them splintered, a feminine fist having smashed through it in frustration. "Shut up both of you!" The furious kunoichi bit out. "Have you forgotten what happened the last time one of us tried to take him on by ourselves? Huh? Huh ?" Sakura paused to look at them. "Well, I do. I see it every single freakin' night in my nightmares. He was going to kill me. And he was going to enjoy it. Now when I say 'we' that's exactly what I mean. So we had better start coming up with a plan so we can deal with this once and for all the next time we see that traitorous bastard. Understand?"
"Fine. I get it." Naruto gave his sulky consent.
"You know he's not going to come quietly." The reminder came from Kakashi. "It will be easier to kill him than to capture him."
"But Kakashi-sensei!"
"I know, Naruto, but he might not give us a choice."
"It's fine," Sakura spoke up. "If we have to kill him, it's fine. There's nothing left of our Sasuke in there anyway."
"Sakura?"
"Come on, Naruto. We're deluding ourselves if we think that we'll bring him back and everything will be just fine. He wants to destroy the village and everyone it! If we don't do it, the powers that be will just execute him. If he has to die, I'd rather it be by our hands in the manner we think is best. I only see three choices. We kill him, they kill him or he kills all of us. And if I have to pick one, I pick the one where we get to have the most say." For the first time in days, Sakura gave in to the desire to break down.
"No." A soft, monotone voice cut through the discussion. Three sets of eyes turned his direction in wonder. "You are wrong, hag. There are four choices."
Sakura wiped her wet face with the back of her hands. "Sai, I don't understand. What other choice? Do you actually want to try to save him? Is that the choice you're talking about? Why would you? He's nothing to you."
"Please do not misunderstand me. This is not out of compassion. It is just the opposite actually."
"Yeah, I don't get it either." Naruto scratched his cheek in puzzlement.
"He has rejected the bonds he created with all of you. He has caused you pain. Even now, he makes the hag cry." Sai paused to rub his chest. "He does not deserve death. That is too light a punishment for his transgressions."
"What do you suggest?" Kakashi leaned forward, resting his elbows on what was left of Sakura's table.
"There are things worse than death and we will give those things to Sasuke." The smirk he gave them instead of his usual smile seemed genuine, laced with just a bit of malice. "I have a plan."
The rest of Team Kakashi eyed each other, looking for the unspoken cues as to what each was thinking. Each saw what they felt mirrored back at them, but no one wanted to speak up. No one wanted to be the one to confirm their resolve to do whatever it takes. They were about to change the rules. Sakura would regain her heart by first breaking it. Naruto would leave his childhood behind once and for all. Kakashi would learn to put the needs of the many above his own selfish wishes. They would do what their mentors could not. They would be the ones to break the cycle. They would rain retribution upon one of their own.
"Fine. But if we're going to talk nefarious plans, let's take it to the sofa. I'd rather not get splinters." The kunoichi glanced back at the other half of her team. "Oh, and you two owe me a new table."
"But Sakura..."
"Of course. It's no problem." Kakashi covered the blonde's mouth with a firm hand until the girl turned away. "Don't worry, Naruto. Yamato owes me."
"I can hear you guys, you know."
Darkness invaded her dreams once again. She was running, always running. Desperate and determined. Always moving on. Always moving forward. Again, not a person was in sight, but she did not feel alone. The inky air that enveloped her did not frighten her anymore. It felt... alive. She felt the familiar burn of her overexerted muscles. She knew where she was going. She was meeting her destiny. It was unavoidable. She could hear the lightning closing in, causing the hair on her neck to stand on end. But this time as her destiny hit critical mass, the collision with her heart imminent, the crackle of the electric blade was drowned out by a soft trickling of black liquid. The sound grew and grew until it became palpable, swallowing the chidori in its entirety. The red receded and refused to return.
phantom
under cut: my sci fi oc mei experiencing phantom limb pain
It was late. The halls of the ship were silent, save for occasional shuffling from one of the quarters as Edgar decided to change his spot on the bed, or Rea rolled over and almost went off the barely big enough mattress he slept on, yet for all the stillness there were still people wide awake on the ship.
Decks below them, the engine rooms still had people scuttling about, hoping that if they smacked wrenches against pipes hard enough, that one leak would clear itself up and they could sleep. Above, Major Kh-aed fumbled over paperwork they could have finished the next day, but deep purple eyes just kept searching the paper and wondering how they’d explain this one as Xero snoozed on the futon nearby, having fallen asleep waiting to be dismissed. Somewhere, yet nowhere, Wendy walked the halls of the STS Nova, pausing to look around and examine the dirtied walls that would be swept over and washed by those unlucky enough to have chore duty.
The shuffling of dozens, desperately trying to avoid the simulated night and evade sleep, was an average night on the ship, just as Mei laying away was too. It wasn’t unnatural for the woman to find herself jolting from sleep, or maybe just never falling asleep at all, as a dull ache crept through her muscles. Muscles that weren’t there anymore. They hadn’t been there in, what, a year and a half at this point? It still didn’t help, though, as she lay in bed, staring out the thick glass of her window into a void with millions of dying stars in the distance.
She felt like her knee was being twisted, but she didn’t have a knee anymore on that leg. She felt like her ankle was snapped, but she didn’t have an ankle anymore. In an attempt to help the ache, Mei stretched her arm down, a grimace on her face as she tried to prove to her brain that there couldn’t be pain in a calf she didn’t have by running her hand through the air her leg should be in, then grabbing her leg itself, and then she seemed to jolt up as she stared down at her legs and just...didn’t stop staring.
There was a knock on her door.
Mei held her breath without realizing, moving to the edge of her bed and reaching out for her prosthetics, “One moment,” She finally called, a bit too quietly, more of a raspy breath than anything.
“Private Amari?”
Oh, she’d forgotten. Mei felt relieved as she shoved her prosthetics back in place beside her bed. H visited often, couldn’t sleep and all that. It was fine by Mei, anything to have a little company, when you went as long as she did without a real hug, you took some friendly company where you could get it.
“Yeah, c’mon in.” She replied, moving back into her already warmed position and yanking her blanket up to her hips. H hadn’t ever caught Mei when her phantom pain was going strong, and she wished dearly that her brain would take the hint and let the dull throb fade into nothingness, but it stayed. H didn’t need to be bothered with her complaining about something so… stupid.
The door opened quickly, and H slipped in almost silently. Mei had their back turned to them, still staring out the window, and H had the sudden feeling that they shouldn’t be here. “Private Amari?”
“Mei…” She reminded them.
“Mei. Should...Should I go?” They asked nervously, ears twitching.
Please no, Mei wanted to say, Being alone makes it so much worse, But she didn’t get any of that out, instead she rolled onto her back, looking towards the alien with a conflicted look before she gave a small, flustered smile, “No, it’s all good, just a little sore from training.” She was always a good liar. “C’mon, bed’s already warm.” She tried to sound like she was joking, but her lips twitched downwards as another pang shot up her legs.
H didn’t seem to notice, and if they did they were politely quiet about it, moving forward and quietly slipping in next to Mei with a grimace and a quiet remark of not warm. Mei gave a throaty chuckle, looking over to her window and staring blankly again.
Silence settled on the room, and Mei would find it uncomfortable if her mind wasn’t miles away.
“Are you okay?” H found themself asking, watching as Mei seemed to tense at the question, turning her face to them with a look H hadn’t really seen on her face before, “You don’t seem normal.”
“That came out bad. We need to work on the translations.” Mei commented, flawlessly dodging questions as always as she brought her hand up, tapping the cuff on her wrist a few times as she messed around with the translator for no reason.
“It isn’t the training, is it?”
Mei wanted to cry. What did you say to that? Was she supposed to just lay her heart out to them and explain how badly toes she didn’t have anymore hurt? How a dull ache through air was capturing every thought of hers? They could barely get over the concept that she just didn’t have legs anymore, how did she explain that yeah, her legs were gone but sometimes she could feel them but only in a bad way.
“Can you...Can you just…” She didn’t know what to say. Her usual response was anger, making a snippy comment and mumbling get out of my room, because that’s just how Mei Amari dealt with anger, but she couldn’t manage to get angry when she looked at H. “Can I hug you? Please? I just need something real.” Her voice was practically a whimper. Mei’s hands shook as she tucked her face into the crook of her arm, trying to hold back countless sniffles and whimpers because if H caught her crying they’d be terrified that she just made water sometimes and Mei didn’t feel like dealing with that.
She forced herself to take a breath, looking towards H as she tried to sit herself up trying to at least steady herself for the rejection she knew was incoming when she saw H just gently nod, holding an arm out towards her. Desperate didn’t begin to describe the way Mei practically threw herself into H’s arms, tucking her face against their shoulder and just dragging them into a firm hug, her hands still shaking. She managed to keep tears at bay with the thought of, ‘It’ll probably kill them’.
H, on the other hand, wasn’t exactly sure what was happening. What happened that had upset Private Amari so badly? There were so many thoughts that went through their mind, questioning what happened and how bad it must have been to make Mei so upset, but one kept coming to the front of their mind over and over as they wrapped their arms around Mei, feeling her shake.
They needed to keep her warm. She was so cold.
Mei couldn’t let go. Do you know how long it had been since she had a hug? Years. Years. The desperation never left, even as she dragged H down with her, curling up against them and tucking her head against their chest, still shaking as she tried to tell herself to just let go so H could leave without feeling guilty, but she couldn’t. She just couldn’t.
H didn’t know when she fell asleep. One second, Mei was shuddering, a tight grasp on the back of their shirt, and the next she seemed so relaxed. They gave a quiet glance down at her before they put their chin back on the top of her head, staring out the window in turn as a planet slid into view as they finished another round of orbit. They’d talk about it in the morning, and until then, H would just let her have as long of a hug as she wanted.
