jan x richard headcanons bc i have to talk about them somewhere or i will literally explode!

jan always sends richard stupid pictures of like a dog and a cat cuddling in bed with the caption “us” and richard will reply with something dumb like “you wish” but he secretly finds it incredibly endearing and takes screenshots of the messages <3

jan keeps at least one bottle of wine in his fridge at his place (even though he hates how wine tastes and thinks it’s obnoxiously expensive) so richard can have a drink whenever he comes over

also whenever they sleep over at each other’s places richard always finds a way to steal jan’s shirt/hoodie for the night

while we’re on the topic . every hoodie richard owns was jan’s at one point

they call each other pet names in their respective native languages :3 … most commonly jan calls richard “liefje” and richard calls jan “mon amour” or “mon ange”

in the beginning jan was insecure about being in a relationship with richard because growing up he was never really that romantic and just generally never connected that well with most people …. even after they’ve been together a while he still gets nervous about not giving richard what he deserves … richard thinks it’s a silly fear for jan to have :]

at away matches they always find a way to sneak into each other’s hotel room at night! one time colin catches richard coming out of what he thought was jan’s room in the morning wearing only boxers and an oversized tshirt but he doesn’t even second-guess it bc sometimes he would go to isaac’s room when he couldn’t sleep so he just shrugs and moves on

richard has a whole playlist of french love songs that remind him of jan and it’s titled like “blonde idiot” or something

which reminds me RICHARD FLIRTS BY BEING MEAN! and once jan catches on he is just indestructible to richard insulting him … once in the locker room jan saw that richard was struggling to get something from his top locker so he reaches to get it for him and richard just scowls at him and tells him he is freakishly unnaturally tall and that he’ll probably die young because of it and jan just gets this stupid lovesick smile on his face and dani is watching it all like ?

jan’s love language is either physical touch or quality time . . maybe both . . he is a huge fan of spending a quiet night in cuddling in bed with richard :>

richard’s love language is definitely physical touch like he takes any excuse he can to put his hands on jan …. but secondary to physical touch is words of affirmation i think … but like words of affirmation specifically from jan …. getting a compliment from someone who couldn’t lie to save his life really does something for richard

No, Twilight, you don't get it. Yor is not going to slip and say her marriage is fake because for her it's not fake anymore. This whole dumb fight is about one very important thing: Yor wants her marriage to be normal. That's why she tells Yuri to butt out and calls herself Mrs. Forger. (Even Yuri notices it).

Replace "patients" for "spy work" and Yor has a point. And after hearing this, Twilight will do his best to spend more time with his family 😁 That's how the ball will start rolling 😏

I was trying real hard to keep faithful to the feelings from the canon Sabo and Luffy reunion while also not having Ace being DEAD as the driving force of the thanks (the ASL brothers thanking each other is something that can be so personal—) and I'm, if nothing else, content with where it ended up. Nothing shows how much you love a character like giving them fucktons of piercings and just generally disregarding their canon design. ARCANE REWATCH LETS GO: ACT I

Some of the greatest sibling representation I’ve seen. These kids are amazing. With just a few lines, everything just clicks. Their circumstances, their position between each other, the dynamics. Just something about it all works so well. 

I LOVE how sunlight looks in this show GOSH

And the colour blue immediately standing out is great foreshadowing. You see it already in the cold opening with Powder’s hair and then again and again with her hair AND the hex crystals. 

Jayce having those hex crystals just sitting around this guy 😭

How were all of these enforcers so slow. I’m surprised there were no citizens trying to get in on the fun but also not at all. Living in their own bubble with the dutiful enforcers as protectors and heroes. 

I love how movement looks in this show. So fluid.

But Grayson’s death is still baffling to me. All Topside seems to ever want is condemnation and yet their sheriff dies and there doesn’t seem to be a massive uproar? The writing for him is very good

Learning to love the Hextech plot line, it’s very fun with some great character dynamics on all sides. It’s a good way to represent Topside while still completely contrasting what we are all too aware of in regards to the Undercity. 

Wonder how the power of the Hextech exploded Sevika’s harm and everyone else’s limbs were fine, and Clag and Mylo were killed indirectly

Where did the rest of the crystals end up going? Just out of use? Because Powder seemed to have a decent amount and I don’t think they were all used at the canary? Unless I’m wrong

I'm really going to miss SWM despite the sad ending. The actors really did a great job with what they had and could do. I knew the accident was going to hurt me, and that it would be a OE, but I did not expect it to be more like a BE. More about that later. At least we got a whole episode of happy boys before all the shit hit the fan.

This scene really touched me. Su Yu pushes Wu Bi to achieve his dreams and is there to support him all the way. We also get another hint of what Wu Bi's time capsule wish is. My guess is that he wished for he, Su Yu and Doudou to always be together. Normally it's Wu Bi who is always saying he doesn't want to be separated from Su Yu, but this time, it's Su Yu telling Wu Bi not to leave him, pulling on Wu Bi's heartstrings. 🥹

Why does Wu Bi have a picture of his and Su Yu's epic bike ride framed? Did his mother draw that? Did he get the idea from her? Wu Bi, I have so many questions...

Su Yu wrote a wish card for Wu Bi too. 🥹 I am not ok. 😭

One last shout out to the shipper girl. She knows. 🤭 I'm glad they didn't write her as a crazy person, inserting herself into Wu Bi and Su Yu's relationship and doing a bunch of weird stuff to get them together.

Psycho alert! 🚨 Mo Yi was hella creepy here. I was a bit scared he would actually hurt Su Yu. You can feel all the resentment he has for Su Yu. First his ex-gf wanted to be with Su Yu rather than him. Second, Wu Bi has chosen Su Yu over him and is acting like a little bitch towards him. Not defending him, but I honestly don't think Mo Yi would have felt such hatred and resentment if Wu Bi hadn't started being really rude and bratty towards him after falling in love with Su Yu.

The ultimate sacrifice. 😭 Wu Bi knew there was no way to stop the car safely so he chose to protect Su Yu by crashing the car on the driver's side. Even though I knew the accident was going to happen, it still hurt so much. Wu Bi will always protect Su Yu no matter what. I read some comments scolding Su Yu for sleeping even though he knew something was wrong with the car. My interpretation is that Su Yu wasn't sleeping, he was worried too, but he trusted Wu Bi completely, and Wu Bi told him to rest because he can handle it, so he did. The level of trust and confidence you need to have in your partner for that is just...

I didn't notice this the first time watching because I was too busy wailing, but Wu Bi hugged Su Yu to protect him. FUCK. 😭😭😭😭 For all the unreasonable jealousy and temper tantrums, Wu Bi really is the best boy.

This is so painful, I can't screencap bloody Wu Bi anymore. It killed me that Wu Bi woke up for a second to stare into Su Yu's eyes when Doudou called to complete their OT3, only to fall into a comma again.

Argh this ending! Is Wu Bi alive or dead? I didn't notice that the doctor nods a little when speaking to Su Yu the first time around. Doctors usually only nod when the operation was successful, so I guess Wu Bi is alive but what about the empty house? Only Wu Bi's stuff is still there, meaning that everyone left him? How is this not a BE? 😭

Of course this makes sense as a set up for a season 2 but I feel like they still could have given us a conclusion. Something like Wu Bi lives, but Su Yu left because he knew Mo Yi was crazy and he wanted to protect Wu Bi. Then the new season would be about how the boys find their way back to each other. It wasn't necessary to leave viewers hanging and heartbroken. 😢 And with 24 episodes of 30+ minutes runtime, I felt the team had enough time to tell a complete story. It shouldn't matter that book 1 of the novel ended like the series because the drama should stand on its own outside of the novel. Besides, wouldn't it have been safer just to film the whole thing at once to avoid the risk of not being allowed to film part 2?

There's a lot of doubt that S2 will actually happen, but someone asked Mo Yi's actor if there will be a 2nd season and he said that there should be. I'm not going to get my hopes up too much before there is official news that everyone is shooting again to spare myself any disappointment, but of course I am hoping for a second season. In the meantime, I hope cjd will release the uncut version of the series that she teased about before. I really do love this series so much even though I was disappointed with the ending. I'll have to treat SWM like MODC and skip the end. SWM only has 22 episodes. Yup. 🤡

Wednesday review (spoilers)

That's it??? They just ended it like that???!!

I must say, this show's editing was choppy at times. VERY choppy. I have no idea what time of the year it's supposed to be, but shows don't seem to care nowadays.

Also it wouldn't have KILLED them to make a longer season! 8 episodes really wasn't enough to delve into that. EVERYTHING was just plot plot plot. If this show was made 15 years ago we'd have at least have shenanigans caused by a different set of outcasts every week, character-central episodes, delving into mythology and secret rooms and actually fleshing out the romantic interests, giving them moments that would actually make me feel bad for big reveals and betrayals, and when something really plotty happens (like a small detail) unexpectedly, THAT'S when you can point your finger and go OOOH!!!!! And it would at least be 16 episodes long.

Fun fact: Tyler was hottest when he was threatening Wednesday at the police station 🤭 oh, and covered in blood, too.

As for the relationships themselves: I really appreciated the friendship arc of Wednesday and Enid. No, I don't ship them.

Enid and Ajax: they are cute. He needed more lines. And when is he going to be used to defeat evil? And why didn't his beanie ever ... ya know. Hiss? Little moments that remind us he's got snakes under it.

Wednesday and tyler: where were our little moments??? When Tyler said 'I thought we liked each other', that was news to me. I like them, but at the same time, they hardly saw each other. I did like looking at him, but he really only had one bewildered expression.

Wednesday and Xavier (or *American accent* ex-avier): when she demanded why he liked her and he said 'what's there to like?' after how she treated him, he was never so right. I was expecting more moments to warrant a side of a love triangle, but there was no triangle. There wasn't even a friendship. There was Wednesday and tyler, and Xavier third wheeling like a kicked puppy. He had some good lines, though his delivery was.... a liiiiitle deadpan. But he'll get better, I hope. With some better writing, too.

And the powers: wouldn't have killed them to explain his powers more! So dad's a psychic, how does that translate to making lifelike art??

Also, he looked hottest when he was in paint-stained clothes in his studio 😍 that's probably just the artist in me. I actually really liked his art.

Plot: I spoiled myself on it, so I can't evaluate how well they foreshadowed. My brother watched it before me and he thought he had it 'all figured out' with guessing Xavier as the monster, but to be honest, they were so obvious with those misleading clues, which in itself gives it away. It probably comes down to how many shows you've watched: Tyler was either going to die, or turn out to be a freak.

Weems getting iced so easily? What was with that? Anticlimactic.

But YASS Enid became a wolf!!!

Also, crackstone just.... died? Like that? You're telling me all those randoms gave their body parts so he could spend 5 minutes terrorising a school, and he didn't even get to kill anyone?

And what the hell did Wednesday do with Ms Thornhill?

They were also very heavy-handed with all of their themes. You could tell when Goody Addams (as an unmarried paternal ancestor she shouldn't even have the surname, but that's neither here nor there) chucked out a few lines like 'we lived in harmony with the native folk', when crackstone and co. said things sounding like they were written by someone who was forced to go to catholic school at 12, when Wednesday spouted lines that made it hard to believe she did not spend time on Twitter, etc.

Just, man, I could write fanfic on the mythology that they couldve woven in with the literal vampires, shapeshifters, gorgons, sirens (SIRENS ARE NOT MERMAIDS, TIM BURTON!!! YOU COULDVE GIVEN THEM SICK WINGS AND CLAWS BUT YOU MADE THEM MERMAIDS WHILE BEING TOO COWARD TO CALL THEM THAT!) or the monster-of-the-week episodes we couldve done. :(

So overall TL;DR:

It was OK. Couldve been fleshed out more. Telling me there's another season isn't an excuse.

We tend to not talk about this a lot. Because Ary@ fans tend to be pissed if we point out that some of Ary@'s chapters have foreshadowing for Sansa (some of Sansa's chapters also have foreshadowing for Ary@ but that's not bad because Ary@ is one of the key five and Sansa is not). And the offence is even greater when it's not just Sansa as Queen foreshadowing but Jonsa. Usually Gendry@ and Jonsa get along and I never had any problems with any of them. Still. I censure the name here. Knowing GRRM it is perfectly possible that it is both : Jonsa and Gendry@ and I think it is.

That doesn’t mean anything, though. Gendry has the same kind of hair too. Lots of people have black hair. “I’m named Bella,” the girl told Gendry. “For the battle. I bet I could ring your bell, too. You want to?” “No,” he said gruffly. “I bet you do.” She ran a hand along his arm. “I don’t cost nothing to friends of Thoros and the lightning lord.” “No, I said.” Gendry rose abruptly and stalked away from the table out into the night. Bella turned to Ary@. “Don’t he like girls?” Ary@ shrugged. “He’s just stupid. He likes to polish helmets and beat on swords with hammers.”

So, here we have: Tom singing “Six Maids in a Pool” which must be a song from the Florian and Jonquil cycle (Remember Florian saw Jonquil and her sister in a  pool).  Gendry coming very close to having a tryst with his sister, who is called Bella which is an allusion to “La Belle et la Bête”. Gendry being blackhaired and stupid.

Later we have the assault you talked about:

An old man sat down beside her. “Well, aren’t you a pretty little peach?” His breath smelled near as foul as the dead men in the cages, and his little pig eyes were crawling up and down her. “Does my sweet peach have a name?” For half a heartbeat she forgot who she was supposed to be. She wasn’t any peach, but she couldn’t be Ary@ Stark either, not here with some smelly drunk she did not know. “I’m …” “She’s my sister.” Gendry put a heavy hand on the old man’s shoulder, and squeezed. “Leave her be.” The man turned, spoiling for a quarrel, but when he saw Gendry’s size he thought better of it. “Your sister, is she? What kind of brother are you? I’d never bring no sister of mine to the Peach, that I wouldn’t.” He got up from the bench and moved off muttering, in search of a new friend. “Why did you say that?” Ary@ hopped to her feet. “You’re not my brother.” “That’s right,” he said angrily. “I’m too bloody lowborn to be kin to m’lady high.” Ary@ was taken aback by the fury in his voice. “That’s not the way I meant it.” “Yes it is.” He sat down on the bench, cradling a cup of wine between his hands. “Go away. I want to drink this wine in peace. Then maybe I’ll go find that black-haired girl and ring her bell for her.” “But …” “I said, go away. M’lady.” Ary@ whirled and left him there. So, Gendry calls her her sister to save her from assault and then they talk about the fact that he is not her brother and how he is lowborn.

Peaches don’t occur very often in ASOIAF - which is funny given that they are common enough as a sexual innuendo. There is one verse of the “Dornishman’s wife” (another song that might  point to Jonsa) where peaches occur:

The Dornishman's wife would sing as she bathed in a voice that was sweet as a peach.

Please not, that the Dornishman’s wife sings (like Sansa), takes a bath (like Jonquil) and the her voice is sweet like a peach.

So, while the obvious take on this scene is that Gendry wants to protect Ary@ and that they might have a future together (only after the epilogue please, they are both far too young at the moment), it might also allude to another dark-haired king’s son (who knows nothing) who might or might not have a tryst with a woman who is his sister (or not).

I’m not sure who the old man might be. Lysa complained about the bad breath of Jon Arryn, so it might be a stand in for Harold Hardyng? Then there is the fact that Littefinger’s breath always smells of mint, a smell that might not be to everybody’s tastes. So I think this is rather foreshadowing than an allusion to something that already happened if only because it would be strange if Sansa had been assaulted at Winterfell. First of all because she doesn’t remember that and second because it might have made her more wary in King’s Landing from the beginning.
