G, 2k, Nie Mingjue & Jiang Yanli
Summary: Jiang Yanli and Nie Mingjue's wedding is a political one — a gesture of unity between their Sects. A way for her parents to finally get some use out of the plain-faced sham of a cultivator they call a daughter. “Jiang-guniang,” Nie Mingjue says, and the formality in such a setting as intimate as their wedding chambers startles her, “I don’t wish to bed you. Or any other woman, for that matter. It isn’t fair for you to live alone because of my own preferences.” She rests her hand on his arm, cool relief flooding her body like water on a summer afternoon. “If it helps, I don’t feel desire for men,” she whispers. Kay's comments: The lavender marriage between Nie Mingjue and Jiang Yanli I never knew I needed but thorougly enjoyed. Really enjoyed Jiang Yanli's POV and how she's making a home for herself in Qinghe. Excerpt: A wolf slips under the fortress walls. Jiang Yanli sidesteps the frantic servants as she examines the hole it left at the gate. She tracks its muddy pawprints through the Unclean Realm. Somewhere between the fortress’s entrance and its heart, Nie Huaisang appears at her side. Nie Mingjue, her husband of three weeks, finds her at the staircase. His saber is drawn and his face is wary. “Stay back,” he warns. “Starving animals get vicious when they’re desperate.” Jiang Yanli shakes her head with a smile. She thinks of A-Xian, six-years-old and flat against the ground at the mere mention of wild dogs. “I can’t fault them for that.” Her husband and her newest younger brother watch in silent awe as she coaxes it outside with nothing more than her gentle voice and a strip of smoked pork belly. “How were you not scared, saosao?” Nie Huaisang asks, once the wolf’s fluffy tail disappears under the gates. “It was so big!” Jiang Yanli smiles at him. “I’m bigger.”

so i unearthed this wip from my google docs and sort of finished it? im not entirely happy with it but if i don’t post it like this it’ll never see the light of day and im hoping someone will appreciate it!
like a flower to the sun
Jiang Yanli/Wen Qing, 1.1k, emotional hurt/comfort
I was watching the scenes at the supervisory office after Wen Ning rescues Jiang Cheng and I wondered at what might have happened in those moments when he was unconscious and Wei Wuxian was... occupied.
So have a soft scene between our girls who deserved better.

fandom: the untamed
pairing: yanqing, jiang yanli/wen qing
tags: alternate universe, wen qing pov, secrets, mess just lots of mess, a decidedly romantic depiction of how handmaidens were actually treated, im here for a good time not a historically accurate time
summary: Wen Qing is hired to work in the house of the Yunmeng Jiang clan following a summons for a handmaiden with medical expertise. Her charge is the lady of the house, the beautiful and subdued Jiang Yanli. Despite her ever-present smile, Wen Qing finds the lady a tough interpersonal nut to crack.
Which suits her just fine. Making friends would complicate an already sticky situation.
CHAPTER 5
The lady is dead silent, and resumes shredding her cuticles with her teeth the moment it is just the two of them. Wen Qing opens the door for her, stepping in after and closing it again. She reaches and takes Jiang Yanli’s hand away from her mouth, cradling it in her own and the touch still feeling electric and not allowed, not allowed. But her skin is starting to bleed, and the lady does not pull away. She meets Wen Qing’s eyes, and the manic craving in them takes her aback. A craving for comfort, or for someone else to fix it, or something more primal that Wen Qing thinks Jiang Yanli may not be aware of. She always feels on the verge of something, Wen Qing thinks. Becoming, or breaking, or destroying. Has no one in this world touched her like this?

here's a few reminders for the mxtx fandom
1. Wei Wuxian had 2 older sister figures in his life and they both died trying to save him and in the end failed since he died anyway. (RIP Wen Qing and Jiang Yanli)
2. Mu Qing only ever had his mom other than XL and FX and she died a mortal death. We don't know anything about FX's mortal family.
3. Wen Ning was experimented on for 13 years in captivity after seeing his sister's ashes and blames himself still for wwx's downfall
4. He Xuan cannot leave the world even after his revenge to Shi Wudu and is purposeless for all of his immortal life.
5. Jin Ling will never taste his mom's handmade favourite soup.
6. Canon Feng Xin and Mu Qing do not know what happened at the temple to Xie Lian.
7. Jiang Cheng will probably never be good enough in his own eyes (until he has like grand-nephews or something)
8. Shi Qingxuan will (probably) die a mortal death.
9. Some of Nie Huaisang's last words to Nie Mingjue were that he never wanted to be a clan leader.
10. XL and WWX both tried to protect a certain demographic that got wiped out anyway and made them public enemies and reason for their eventual downfall making it essentially ineffective.
11. All the calamities are actually gods who could or did ascend heaven.
12. Xiao Xingchen killed himself after finding out he wiped out villages full of innocent people and his own best friend who he gave up his eyes for. And realising his pursuit of helping the world was worthless.

Survival

Series, WIP, 40k, Wangxian, Xuanli & Eventual Yanqing
Summary: Jiang YanLi didn't die on the battlefield. Wei WuXian still did. Jiang YanLi reminds Lan WangJi that he has a son and a nephew he can't abandon as he mourns.
Kay's comments: Canon-divergence series in which Jiang Yanli lives (and in later works, so does Wen Qing) and everyone has to deal with it. She becomes Lan Wangji's friend and gets to raise her son. The series is marked as incomplete, but I don't think that should deter anyone from reading, because it's definitely worth a read!
Excerpt: Tears filled his eyes when Jiang YanLi crouched in front of him, her newborn son strapped to her breast. “Hanguang Jun.” She pushed the hair out of his face, tucking strands behind his ear to look at him more clearly. She was supposed to be dead. Her death had been the reason for Wei WuXian giving up. The confusion must’ve shown in his face. He didn’t care much for controlling his emotions anymore. The ribbon was discarded somewhere. “My brothers didn’t realise I was still alive after I was stabbed -- a medic found me and brought me back to good health. When I woke, I found out…” She sobbed and Lan WangJi completely understood.
canon-divergence, jiang yanli & lan wangji, xuanli, jiang yanli/jin zixuan, yanqing, jiang yanli/wen qing, jiang yanli lives, wen qing lives, somebody lives/not everybody dies, mental health issues, suicidal thoughts, survivor guilt, regret, masturbation, coming out, @jinkohhh

you know what is genuinely heartening for me about wei wuxian’s character? we can very easily discern that throughout the course of the series, countless people are ready to kill wei wuxian but on the flip side?? wei wuxian is also someone who is capable of inspiring enough loyalty and love that people are willing to die for him. this is a random reference but i remember having a discussion about a kdrama (strongest deliveryman for anyone who’s curious) and this one person said that it is easy to tell how good of a person the main character is because he has all these people surrounding him, ready to listen, ready to lay down their lives for him. and that is exactly the case with wei wuxian–it is a testament to his character that people like wen qing, wen ning, jiang yanli made the sacrifices that they did, just so he could live on. it is a testament to his character that lan wangji, an absolute paragon of virtue, would 100% die for wei wuxian. and yes, wei wuxian would stick his neck out for each of them as well but it’s the fact he doesn’t have to–that this loyalty is not transactional but something he has inspired within these people simply by being himself and doing the right thing and proving that he is deserving of their loyalty.
it’s the fact that other “leaders” of their world did not only fail at earning loyalty but they were such horrible people that instead, they inspired betrayal within their subjects. it’s so fascinating how wei wuxian’s effect on people compares against the cultivation sect heirs and leaders because, despite all the odds stacked against him, he did a better job at actually leading the cultivation world (the war victory, the advocation for the wen remnants, the inventions that advanced the cultivation society) than any of these political figures at their peaks (and this includes jin guangyao with his watchtowers and lan wangji’s arriving where the chaos is stuff, though these are validly debatable).
okay but point is: it is very easy to make people hate you and want to kill you, atleast in the mdzs world, but it is far more difficult to inspire the kind of loyalty that would make people want to die for you and wei wuxian, somehow, managed to do just that and not just once. also, that the people loyal to him, are some of the most morally upstanding characters–as perceived either by the cultivation world and/or the fandom. isn’t that so telling?
