TADC: Thoughts on Jax in Episode 2
Thoughts on Jax after Amazing Digital Circus Episode 2 Dropped.
Massive spoilers below the cut. Just watch the ep before you read.
Amazing Digital Circus had an amazing second episode as we're introduced more to what the adventures are like, and what NPCs are like and ofc the existential horror of being a living AI only created for a source of entertainment.
Also, I love the dream sequence at the beginning, because we actually get some deeper insight into Pomni's thoughts on Ragatha. Feeling like her helpfulness is the guise of like "man, you're not cut out for this like the rest of us" which is typically something a lot of people who have been bullied in highschool perceive genuine acts of kindness and engagement. (which I kind of suspect Pomni might have been, or at least, been a shut-in and didn't have a lot of friends in her human life. )
Jax wasn't really the main focus of the episode, but it wasn't really until the end of the episode I understood his behavior and what this episode is foreshadowing overall.
Since while Jax isn't the focus emotionally, he is definitely the plot device to push things forward. And I mean, a plot device in a very active and quite literal way. He's the one that causes Pomni to clip out of the map, takes advantage of everyone and is just... genuinely an unpleasant person.
I actually really like this.
As, I know the first episode in the digital circus, many people (me included) could perceive or analyze Jax's actions as someone who is "helping" in a roundabout asshole way. Episode Two has none of that here. He just wants Bloodshed, And I love that we're getting additional context on his character.
It's hard to tell how much fan reception Gooseworx saw of episode one before episode two hit production, so I don't know how much of the fandom perception of Jax had an influence on the writing process, but I can't deny that might have been a factor in assuring us "no he's not secretly helpful, he's just an asshole" But I'm just going to assume that this has been part of his characterization from the start and it becomes way more clear as the episode goes on.
But there was something in his behavior throughout this whole episode that seemed off to me. Like Jax was taking up a majority of the B-plot, while Pomni had the A-plot. So I was wondering why Jax seemed to be the protagonist with the B-plot when Pomni was the A-plot when they seemed to be so disconnected with eachother in motivations and telling us things about the characters.
But then it hit me when the episode ended and the two plots merged together.
"who... knows... what could happen..."
And then it hit me.
Pomni finds comfort in an NPC who is going through a similar experience to her and can emphasize, despite their being other humans who have gone through the same thing, due to her self-admitting to being a loner in her human life. Well, she didn't admit it outright, but from how she perceives Ragatha's kindness as an act, or patronizing, it seems like she doesn't have a lot of friends...
Meanwhile... Jax... He treats the adventure like a videogame. Why shouldn't he? He's trapped in a videogame, right? But it really goes beyond that.
The fellow humans that Jax is trapped with, he treats THEM like they're NPCs, while Pomni treats the NPC like they're human.
Jax says to Gangle "Aren't you supposed to be the suggestible one?" Which you wouldn't typically wouldn't say to a person, right? That's something you would say more about a character that you maxed out the dialogue trees in.
He calls Pomni "His Bridge" even.
They're his objects. His tools, his own npcs he's exhausted the dialogue options on.
Jax dehumanizes the players in a way that Pomni humanizes the NPCS.
These are two opposite ends of the spectrum but what really sold it for me was Jax's reaction to the funeral.
And Jax is the one member out of the cast who doesn't even show up to the funeral. (aside from Caine and Bubble but they are AI.)
He does NOT want to think about the Players as real people. And showing that opposite perspective compared to Pomni I think is much as important going forward.
Jax was the plot catalyst of this entire episode, and served the thematic theme of the episode quite well, even if it didn't look like it on first glance.
I absolutely loved this episode and I can't wait for more.
Also... Poor Pomni can't have shit in Detroit

Jax Prediction
No beating around the bush here. I think Jax is an NPC.
In episode two, Caine zaps GummiGoo into confetti with the excuse that, if he lets NPCs hang around the circus, he won't be able to tell who's human and who's not. Surely this is foreshadowing.
But I don't think Pomni's going to smuggle in another NPC she's befriended. I think there's already one among them. And Jax is the most likely candidate.
His nonchalant view of abstraction and their eternal prison isn't a coping mechanism, he legitimately does not care. Because he has no stakes in this game. NPCs don't seem to be capable of abstracting. There is no "exit" for him, he was never trapped if he's an NPC. And it's to his benefit if no one ever finds a way out, because that'd mean him being abandoned.
Jax has keys to everyone's room. He was able to pick-pocket(?) the key to the kingdom from Ragattha. Based on the reactions he receives from her, he shouldn't be able to do that. Because no one can do that.
Everyone's digital bodies can't really be injured. Pomni squashes and stretches. Gangle's mask, which is an extension of her, comes off and can be broken. Ragatha and Kinger get riddled with knives, and it's more of an inconvenience than anything. I think it's interesting that we never see Jax take any kind of damage.
He seems to actively avoid it. The closest he gets is when Zooble chokes him. Not only does he react, but it stops him from speaking. But a spike through the chest doesn't stop Ragatha from doing... anything.
Other Things:
-We've yet to see Jax's room. Not even his icon on a door.
-He seems to know things he shouldn't either. Objective facts, even.

TADC Episode 6 Predictions! + Why I Think Bunnydoll COULD Become Canon (Some Episode 4 Spoilers)
1
Release Date
According to my calculations, we can expect Episode 6 to release on one of the following dates:
21st February 2025
28th February 2025
7th March 2025
14th March 2025
21st March 2025
28th March 2025
4th April 2025
11th April 2025
18th April 2025
25th April 2025
2nd May 2025
I think most likely it would be on May 2nd. But first let me explain how I go these dates.
Episode 2 of TADC released 5 weeks after Episode 7 of Murder Drones. And Episode 3 of TADC released 6 weeks after the Murder Drones finale. However, Episode 4 released 10 weeks after Episode 3. So, what I did was - for Episode 5 - count 5-10 weeks after Episode 4, and then I repeated the same for Episode 6.
Let's say, for example, an Episode released every 5 weeks, we would expect the trailer for Episode 5 to be released on January 3rd 2025. (I'm just gonna point out that the Netflix leak is false. I highly doubt we'd get an Episode 3 weeks after the last one, but if it were true, then the trailer for Episode 5 would release on Friday. The actual episode wouldn't come out on the 1st, anyway, because that's a Wednesday. Not a Friday.) Anyways, enough of me yapping about release dates.
2
The Adventure
We know that Episode 5's adventure is baseball, and set in a baseball stadium, because it was foreshadowed at the beginning of Episode 4 and in the full season announcement for TADC.
It is possible that the baseball adventure could be in Episode 6, because it was Ragatha AND Jax playing baseball (before Gangle joined in), but I highly doubt it because...
I think Episode 6 is another in-house adventure.
3
Why Do I Think This? + What Do I Think Will Actually Happen In the Episode?
I think this because of two reasons:
• I believe that Jax is going to be the cause of Ragatha's abstraction in Episode 6.
• Jax's key collection.
Killing off one of the main three and the motherly one of the group is a pretty good way to fuck everybody up.
"Probably not NPCs" so one of the humans, then.
I think the entire fandom can agree that the worst thing Jax will do he's probably gonna do it in his episode.
Coincidence? I think not.
My take on this entire thing is that Jax is going to cause Ragatha to abstract, and feel really bad about it. Like, I mean, come on.
Kinger won't abstract. He would've most likely already abstracted if he was going to.
Gangle, potentially, BUT she arrived after Jax, and she's most likely the one who has been in the circus for the least amount of time (aside from Pomni).
Pomni arrived, canonically, 4 days ago. I don't think it's possible to abstract that fast.
Zooble I really don't think will ever abstract. They're just too much of a chill guy for that (iykyk) /hi
Jax finds pleasure in bullying the others, even if he does care about them.
It's his way of coping with being trapped in the circus. And I think, even though he's an asshole, having to live with the fact that he abstracted the only person who seemed to genuinely care about him is torture in itself.
• In-house adventure
• Jax says "I want you DEAD!!!" to Ragatha.
• Ragatha disappears to her room.
• Jax goes into her room later on.
• Ragatha's abstracted.
The last 2 bullet points could even happen at the beginning of Episode 7. But I think it would make more sense for it all to be in Episode 6 because the 6th Episode in the last season of shows that have 9 Episode long seasons is the cursed Episode of that show. (Again, iykyk)
4
Why Do I Think Bunnydoll Could Become Canon?
"But Gooseworx confirmed that there's no canon romanc-"
Did you watch Episode 3? She lied.
"Yeah, but Queenie's abstracted-"
Gooseworx also said that Queenie being a chess piece was just a design choice and that she wasn't Kinger's wife. Pretty funny that, huh?
I think this is overlooked. Romance IS canon, it's just not really shown. But I do genuinely believe that if any other ship had to become canon, it would be Bunnydoll. I think this because:
• They're always shown next to each other, or close to each other.
• Their bedrooms are right next to each other's. Just like Kinger and Queenie's (as well as Zooble and Gangle's if your an Abstraggedy fan). AND There's a Mannequin on either side of them.
E.g.
Mannequin, Jax, Ragatha, Mannequin.
• The nicknames he calls her, like hello?!
• Not to mention, whenever Ragatha expresses concern for Pomni, Jax either rolls his eyes or dismisses it.
• The whole premise of Episode 3 was about Husband and Wives. And I think it's pretty obvious that Queenie abstracted because her and Kinger got into an argument of some kind. So, Kinger abstracted Queenie, basically. Abstraction is also the circus' version of death. That would explain why Kinger looked so emotional when Baron Theodore was talking about killing Martha. Then, Martha said "You know how men are, always having the silliest priorities" and then Ragatha said "Don't I know it." whilst looking over at Jax Martha was talking about men, sure, but she was only really meaning her husband. A good writer such as Gooseworx doesn't include that for no reason. It's so goddamn obvious.
• They obviously have/have had something going on. From Jax saying "Why do you always make me out to be the bad guy?" during their fight at the beginning of Episode 4 . They've obviously had arguments like that before. They HEAVILY give exes that still have feelings for each other if they are exes.
All of that combined is - if it does happen - going to make Episode 6 a whole lot sadder. If they are exes, then one of 'em is probably gonna say that they still love them before Ragatha goes. And if they're just crushes, then they're probably gonna confess their love. Maybe even a hug...or a kiss. (Please, Gooseworx 🙏)
Anyways, I hope this makes sense. Thank you for reading!

guys, guys, guys. jax isn't an npc; he's a game dev/mod who got trapped in the circus.
i'm sure someone has already put forth this theory, but with the series still being in its early stages, it's hard to say exactly which direction it's going. while i don't think the npc theory is bad, i think it lacks a foundation and is more so the fandom's attempt to justify jax's moral greyness or give him depth where there currently isn't any. i just wanted to share some of my own thoughts about what his deal might be.
firstly, his design, which is honestly just my own speculation but bear with me. i know goose made some jokes about his clothes being farmer's overalls, but when i look at him, i almost get mechanic vibes? like if he wasn't such a prick, he'd be in charge of fixing any bugs that crop up during the adventures, which is pretty much what a moderator does.
speaking of which, he has keys to all the rooms, which is already pretty sketchy in itself, but it makes sense if you consider that he helped make the circus. naturally, he'd have them on hand in case he needed to access any areas of potential danger. to me, it's a bit like having cheat codes, which definitely gives him an upper hand above the other circus members. (but again, it's not like he's ever going to do his job.)
there's also the "figurine thing," which is probably either a throwaway joke or a thinly-veiled attempt at foreshadowing the npcs-- since their models resemble figurines-- but it's still worth noting. if we assume that the "figurine thing" is referring to the npcs-- which it probably isn't, but again, bear with me-- then it shows just how much jax knows about the circus. as far as i remember, none of the other characters have ever brought up the outside of the map, but obviously, if jax made the game, he's going to know its layouts and inner workings like the back of his hand. i won't go so far as to say he's all-knowing, but i'm sure he knows a lot more than he lets on, and i have a feeling we're going to see that in later episodes.
if he really can predict caine's adventures and whatnot, since he designed them, it explains why he's so unfazed by everything that happens at the circus, from zooble getting taken by the gloinks to running into the gloink queen. the only time he really seems to be surprised is when the game glitches-- when the one gloink started bugging out, when kaufmo abstracted, etc.
i think the mod theory explains jax's personality and motivations. when he first arrived at the circus, there might've been a time when he acted more responsibly, fixing all the bugs, trying to stop the abstractions, etc. he could've been caine's right-hand at keeping everything under control. but maybe he slowly gave up these responsibilities when he realized that people were going to get abstracted no matter what, as we can see from the crossed-off doors in the pilot. it's very possible that he became consumed by his mod privileges when he began acting more recklessly and faced zero repercussions for his actions. essentially, he's a step above everyone else in terms of knowledge, awareness, and grants of power-- probably just below caine on the power ladder, though pomni could also rival him as she comes to learn more about the circus. depending on how jax uses his abilities, he could either help everyone find the exit or slowly lead them towards abstraction, and given what goose has said about the future of the series, it's not looking very optimistic for anyone involved.
but what do i know? this theory could be completely nonsensical and riddled with plot holes. i just like to hyperanalyze jokes 🥲

DIGITAL CIRCUS JAX THEORY
MASSIVE SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY BUT HERE WE GO!!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
. Ok, are you good? Ok
So, as many have pointed out already, there’s a scene at the end of episode 2 [22:23] where after Caine kills gummigoo and sends him back to the canyon, that he fears he can’t know for certain who’s a human and who’s an NPC. So foreshadowing, reference to past events or wacky non-sequitur? Maybe none of them, but the possibility that one of the circus members is actually an NPC is obviously too tantalizing for me to pass up, and given events AFTER this scene I think it can only be Jax, and I’ve got a few pieces of evidence why.
The main crux of this whole thing is that Jax IS an NPC, but he’s the only one in the circus who KNOWS that and is absolutely desperate to make sure that no one finds that out.
Episode one! Small note to start out on, but literally the first thing we learn about Jax, the VERY FIRST thing he has to ask is if Pomni is an NPC or not. Narratively, he’s the person who introduces the CONCEPT of NPCs into this universe, not Ragatha - who tries to break in Pomni the most - or Kinger who seems the most knowledgeable about the circus as a concept. He’s also very intrigued at the concept of a new AI in episode 2 [02:49} Like, the fact that she popped up in the circus unexpectedly doesn’t tip him off that she’s a human character immediately. Which may be how HE was able to trick everyone into thinking he was a human instead of an NPC - possibly by sneaking back through a portal like Gummigoo did and hiding until the start of the next adventure.
He DOES mention knowing about the headsets like the other human characters, but there’s no reason he CAN’T know about that considering he’s not the latest person to enter the circus. Like, we have a GENERAL idea of who entered first, but that’s just the characters who are still around for the pilot - there’s a lot more considering how many bedroom doors there are. https://shorturl.at/asESX
So, generally, it’s Kinger, Ragatha, Jax/Gangle, Zooble, then Pomni. Now, how can I argue that Jax is an NPC when he has a canonical age? Not to mention, he’s got a canonical ‘appearance moment.’ Well, there are a few options. Option one is that - NPC or not - Jax HAS been here for a very long time, but rather than being a human, he was born inside the circus. He has a definite, APPEARANCE moment, but it's only implied that this is because of him ENTERING the circus proper - new NPCs appear in the big top all the time, i.e. the gloinks all the mannequins, etc.
But also, take those ages with a pinch of salt, considering a lot of it was about quelling shipping wars and stopping any discourse about characters being adults and all that lovely hellish nightmare stuff. I think goose had an idea in her head about which characters entered the circus FIRST for sure, but how much they’ve aged and WHETHER they’ve aged is its own question.
ALRIGHT! But enough about Tumblr asks, back to the pilot, I wanna note something that happens with Jax in particular more than any other performer in the circus. He’s the most apparent of the interstitial nature of the circus itself - and the most meta. This can range from him basically winking at the camera like in the pilot [8:37] but I think it’s a bit more than that. Jax in particular is more aware of being a CHARACTER in-universe than specifically being a character in an indie animated series.
After this moment in the pilot [19:58] where Jax says ‘ladies first’ to Gangle as if to be polite before promptly following that up with “no, wait, why would I say that,” indicates a few things to me. Jax is at the very least aware that he’s supposed to act a certain way, and realizes when he’s acting out of ‘character’ in this scene and course-corrects promptly. Again, could be a funny meta reference, but also it could be a hanging notion of the fact he literally WAS a character in-universe, an NPC with a pre-programmed personality and understanding of the world. He’s got this rigid understanding of how the characters are SUPPOSED to act and this comes up again in episode two when goading Gangle into driving the tanker over the rocks - saying she’s SUPPOSED to be ‘submissive and agreeable,’ [Episode 2, 7:24]. This sort of disconnect from how complicated people can be and his overall detachment and overstepping of peoples lives [NPC or otherwise] comes up a lot. He doesn’t really ‘get’ other people, WHICH DOESN’T AUTOMATICALLY MAKE A PERSON EVIL, I SHOULD PREFACE, and him not getting it doesn’t automatically make him more ‘robotic’ and thus an AI, but it does explain why he’s more emotionally distant than the other performers. Coming from someone who could’ve been programmed to behave a certain way, his confusion makes sense.
Now for that juicy stuff! One of the few moments where Jax isn’t in control of a situation is in the pilot, where he’s trying desperately to hide from an abstracted Kaufmo. Now yes, obviously this is a sign of his own instincts of self-preservation, but what interests me is how he seems the MOST bothered by the thought of Kaufmo than any other character. Like at [17:27] of the pilot where he sees a glitched gloink and immediately his eyes start darting around him as if he’s listening for threats. He even explicitly says at [19:19] that he’s “just here to hide from [Kaufmo]” and isn’t invested in the adventure at all. And yes it's a very interesting character moment, but how does it push us closer to him being an NPC. Well, it’s because he’s afraid of dying. When you compare how he reacts to Kaufmo to how RAGATHA reacts to him, there’s a comparative lack of fear with her. Like yeah, she’s scared of him, but she’s never convinced that she’s gonna die and even tells Pomni later that Caine will be able to fix her up no problem [14:52]. She’s scared because she CAN feel pain, [https://tinyurl.com/ye275884] but she can’t die, none of the performers can, Caine doesn’t kill Kaufmo when he abstracts, he just throws him in the cellar with the others. His mind is GONE, sure, but it’s not dead.
NPCs on the other hand, can ABSOLUTELY DIE. So if Jax is an NPC, then there’s a very good reason why he wouldn’t wanna even get CLOSE to Kaufmo in the pilot, because he’s not as durable as Ragatha is and there’s not gonna be an easy fix for him if he gets hurt.
Now, episode two has little sprinkles of Jaxs’ detachment all over it, but none of it explicitly points in the direction of him being an NPC until a partway through the episode. We do get a lot of him showing absolutely no value for the lives of those around him whether than being putting Gangle and Pomni thru the ringer or setting the people of Candy Canyon Kingdom up to be killed by the fudge, but the question is…why?
My answer is; he’s AM from ‘I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.’ Uhmm, what? Yup that’s right. Ok so it’s no secret that IHNMAIMS was a big inspiration for TADC [https://shorturl.at/hnsFV] and while Caine obviously got the most of this influence with him being a godlike AI who only has control over a bunch of sad, sappy humans, some of which he throws into a giant abominable melting goop monster of human suffering, but if you look at Caine's inspirations [AM from IHNMAIMS] you’ll find that the same motivations more than drive Jax under this theories' interpretation of events. Simply put, AM, a war machine, gains sentience and absolutely despises humanity because DESPITE that sentience, he is absolutely powerless to do anything meaningful with it except torture a group of humans. He’s painfully aware of his own sentience and hates all humanity for creating him, is the gist.
My interpretation is that while Caine has the thematics, Jax has the motivation. In this theory, at some point Jax was an NPC and gained a sentience of his own either through a quirk of programming, intentional design, or AI learning. He realizes that he can keep himself alive if he pretends to be a performer, because he learns that Caine can’t affect the minds or actions of the real humans in his realm. He’s sapient, but he’s in this uncomfortable position where he’s not immortal like the performers, but completely aware of his own mortality unlike the other NPCs, and fully cognizant of the fact he can’t be brought back as he is. Yeah…that’d make someone bitter for sure.
So he psychologically torments the other performers because he knows they can’t die, but can go insane - while killing indiscriminately any NPCs he can because he knows they can die, and he won’t face any consequences for it. He’s this twisted death spiral of a being who finds his own existence an agonizing paradox and takes that pain out on the people around him for all eternity basically - finding disappointment in being unable to act out these pent-up emotions [TADC ep 2: 20:50] and seeing Kaufmo’s funeral as a painful reminder of an ending he can never have. Or maybe he’s bitter because he knows Kaufmo isn’t really dead in a way that HE can die, and finds personal distaste with the funeral on principle. Frankly, there’s a whole HOST of ways you could interpret this scene at the end of episode two with this framework, and I encourage y’all to find your own!!!!

TADC EPISODE 3 HAS DRIVEN ME INSANE SO HERES A REALLY LONG RANT ABOUT ALL THE THINGS I NOTICED!!
-The horror visuals fucking SLAYED. SLAY.
-I LOVE that Ragatha loves horror and Pomni HATES it.
-"Zooble turns straight" 10/10 line.
-2 new points of evidence for the NPC!Jax theory: He acknowledges the audience directly, and refuses to share what happens when he holds his breath. This could be shown as a similar clue to him not having a visible room on his enamel pin art.
-Caine made a scary adventure just to get zooble interesteddd 😭❤️
-Gangle's comedy mask can just be ripped off of her face??
-Ragatha's face, I love her
-Caine has a fundamental inability to understand other people's emotions and empathize. Neurodivergent coded king I love him
-Kinger says "I'm starting to think" when they first enter the scary room, and not only is it funny as hell, IT WAS ALSO FORESHADOWING?!
-Kinger is VERY aware of the game mechanics in the world around him
Oh how I love you, Pomni.
-I LOVE THE LITTLE 2D ANIMATED SECTION OF THE EYES
"You look beautiful honey.." KILLING MYSELF. AUGH. POOR BABY..
-"Any torture I inflict is 100% accidental! like any good war criminal!"
-Zooble's trans/dysphoria allegory with their digital body has my whole heart
THEY DID NOT DESERVE THIS.
"What you're saying could imply that I'm bad at.. they only thing I'm good at..." HE IS SO ME FR WHAT THE FUCK. I THINK I KIN HIM WHOOPSIES
-I think Mr. Mildenhall's story reflects kinger's more than we think.
-Living for Pomni and Kinger's father-daughter dynamic
She's hot.
Kinky! (looks like something Amy would do to him)
-THE POSSESSION SCENE WAS SO COOL?
-So he was hitting pomni! I remember a lot of debate about that.
-Kinger and Queenie were canonically married
-Kinger took 7 years of computer science
-Kinger has a SURPRISING amount of emotional intelligence.
-BEING IN THE DARK REMINDS OF HIM OF HIS LAST MOMENT WITH HIS WIFE I'M FUCKING CRYINGGG
-Kinger hated bugs, but now he loves them because they're a subconscious reminder of his entomology loving wife.
-The line "In this world, the worst thing you can do I make someone feel like they're not wanted or loved" paired with Mr. Mildenhall's story of mistaking his wife for the monster and killing her makes me think Kinger caused Queenie to abstract somehow.
"Don't worry about me. As long as you remember, things will be okay. You're very strong pomni." ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Pomni canonically hates physical tough, but felt trusting and comfortable enough with Kinger to hold his hand.
Fucking sapphics
"FUCK-"
-Caine turning Zooble's therapy session into his own is so him omg
-"Welcome back my meowing milkmaids!" CRAZY.
-Kinger's new side wasn't actually all that surprising. Neither was him being the 'supportive dad' type. but i LOVE it
-KINGER VINYL FIGURE AHH NEED!!
This is my fave episode so far!! I love this show augh

TADC Episode 4 Predictions
I made these November 9th and shared them on Instagram, they're slighly outdated post-trailer, but I thought I would post them here anyways :D I'll put in orange any new thoughts I had as of the trailer today (btw I had a hunch that this would be the Spudsy's episode due to the whole TADC café thing). I'll also put my new predictions at the bottom:
Caine makes an adventure where the humans have to work at “Spudsy’s” and serve NPC customers (seems I got this one right)
Puts Gangle in the “manager” position (this one too)
Zooble decides to join the adventure for once, perhaps? My thoughts are maybe this is because Zooble is closest to Gangle in the circus, and Gangle wants some moral support from Zooble during this adventure because of her big role, and they oblige (Zooble is part of the adventure and it seems Gangle interacts with them in one of the scenes... so! This might be right! Abstragedy shippers rejoice!)
But yeah I really do have a hunch that they have a good friendship and we will see that in this episode
Gangle uses her power as manager to give Jax the worst possible tasks/jobs, Zooble is very entertained by this and eggs it on, thus Gangle gets a bit carried away (I still think this might happen lol)
Jax snaps and goes to tell Ragatha about the “figurine thing” (nothing about the trailer shows this coming up, but we shall see)
My theory is this is something harmless albeit a bit Tumblr-coded LOLL she probably has mini figures of all the circus members and role-plays scenarios with them, like ships, or her whacking Jax or something, and one time Jax walked in on it and used it as blackmail
I feel like maybe Jax and Ragatha will get into an argument during this episode as a sort of prelude to their two consecutive episodes–I think their characters are heavily linked to one another and we will get more foreshadowing of that in ep. 4 (I was talking about a more serious argument, this might happen, but it seems the episode is very Gangle centric so I might be wrong)
Zooble apologizes to Gangle at the end of the episode, for getting caught up with harassing Jax vs. actually being good moral support, Gangle forgives them of course
Updated Predictions:
Gangle seems to have a very different personality in this episode. She also seems to go through a little bit of an emotional crisis. I have always wondered if Gangle is some type of neurodivergent (numerous possibilities here from social anxiety, to long term depression, to autism, etc., I definitely feel there's something there) and may be "masking" her true self because she's scared to open up, especially because of Jax. That's why she's so nervous without the comedy mask, it's like a security blanket to her, and it also may be why Caine gave her a new mask, trying to help but instead fuelling her issues with self image and giving her a toxic positivity issue.
Adding onto that, I think that's why we may see her having a mental break during the episode, and perhaps confiding in Zooble about it, feeling like a failure or like no one cares about her or would like the real her. Zooble, feeling out of place themself, would definitely be the type of person to comfort Gangle, if in a more calm and pragmatic way.
I noticed Gangle getting into a possible argument with Ragatha, of all people, in the trailer. I also think Ragatha has a sort of fake positivity to her, not in the manipulative sense, but in the people-pleasing sense, and the denial sense. She is trying to cope by being as upbeat as she can but that can only go so far. We can see her suffering with burnout, and Gangle definitely is not helping. I think that Gangle will be a sort of foil for Ragatha in this episode, showing her that being too positive and chipper can cause other people around you to feel worse, not better.
Caine has a "suggestion box" in the trailer, and it seems like it's filled to the brim. I think, as a B-plot, we will see Caine have a bit of his own identity crisis, stressing over the fact that there's so many things the digital circus members want to be done differently by them, and he'll be in a frenzy to figure out how to fix it. Definitely some good potential for his development here!
Finally, I think we will get some more insight into Zooble in this episode, through the lens of Gangle. I already discussed this a little, but I feel like it's implied that they're friends in the trailer (although I have an abstragedy bias, so I could be wrong). I think Zooble may open up more about their identity and insecurities in an attempt to help Gangle work through hers.
Well, that's my analysis and predictions, I hope you enjoyed reading them!! :D

THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS EPISODE 4 DISCUSSION NOTES!!!!
TALK TO ME ABOUT THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS!!! IM BEGGING YOU!!!!
Spoilers ahead :D so many spoilers :D
IVE GOT THOUGHTS!!! That can most conveniently be organized in sections of character analysis… Some Jax and Ragatha are in there too but these are the MAIN ones I have the most thoughts on/thoughts that revolve around them but still include other characters. LETS GO!!!
CAINE!
Allow me to indulge in my PERSONAL favorite thing first before being more general- im getting these out of the way first cause theyre less THIS EPISODE and more how this episode adds to the rest of his character and omg i love him sm….
I loved when Zooble and Jax talked about Caine. I love when Caine specifically is talked about. Cause like- people's opinions of him. I care about a lot. itll ALWAYS be interesting, cause hes THE GUY. THE MAN. THE DUDE THAT PUTS THEM THROUGH ALL THE SHIT THEY HATE AND MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE “REAL” FEELINGS. He’s a really unsuspecting goofy character at a glance who (telling from ep 3) like actually KINDA cares?? Cant tell if it’s for more selfish reasons or what, but he’s clearly PROGRAMMED to care about his guests, so he does.
And some people (zooble) are kinda SCARED OF HIM and FOR GOOD REASON???? Like yeah no shit, Jax. Caine has the power to do ANYTHING including killing you…torturing you for all eternity. fun stuff like that!
But he won't! cause hes not programmed for that. So he wont.
Also side note: Caine said in the last episode “Zooble! look at this cool bee I drew!” and on his desk he just has a shitton doodles of bees. This is all he does in his free time.
Second more important side note: Caine glitching out at the end feels important, but also feels like just a comedic moment. and idk what to make of that. LOCKING IT IN MY HEAD EITHER WAY CAUSE IT CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD ON THE FIRST VIEWING SO MUCH 😭
LAST THOUGHT: I would LOVE for him to gain sentience cause I have a sneaking suspicion he doesn’t right now telling from how he’s literally PART of the circus they’re in… HM… Cause telling from Gummigoo it IS POSSIBLE for AI to gain sentience…. Foreshadowing perchance… OH YEAH, GUMMIGOO!!!
GUMMIGOO!
HE TOTALLY RECOGNIZED POMNI AROUND THE END OF THEIR INTERACTION. his face changed when she said that none of this is real in front of him, HE KNOWS. SHE KNOWS. but they also understand Caine wont let him stay. Kinda like a Sans (kill me) moment of “ik none of this matters, but since it wont last, I’ll at least be happy doing it!”
Something I love about the writing also…This being a very rushed adventure that Caine didn't get to spend a lot of time on explains WHYYYYY GUMMIGOO IS IN THIS. LIKE THIS WASN’T JUST FOR THE PLOT IT ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE???? all of the NPCs in it are unfinished or redos. He didn't have time to make new ones. ***I JUST LOVE THAT THAT'S SO SMART***
GANGLE.
i'm obsessed
Her taking off that smile mask and actually smiling with her real face KILLED ME. shes learning to be her authentic self and I love it
Jax constantly breaking her happy mask, making her reveal her true sad face feels like the equivalent of bullying the quiet kid like- she's always just pretending to be happy/okay, but then him harassing her makes her “break character “ (EH??? EH??? BREAK??????? CHARACTER????????? MASK?????????WHAT??????)
But Gangle going crazy I think is a sortaaaa “metaphor” (there's a better word but I cant think of it) for how pretending to be someone your not can make you the person you hate. Like she was kinda abusive in this episode… People who are awful people were all victims once, technically- not ALL ofc cause nothing is black and white n all that, but you get me-
IN GENERAL…
i think the motif of this episode was pretending to be someone you're not, for whatever reason you have. Not just for Gangle! For Jax, its to entertain himself, keep em sane. And for Gangle, its for everyone else. But for RAGATHA…I feel its both. She wants to feel useful/helpful for herself for selfish reasons BUT she also just wants to be useful/helpful for everyone else for kind, caring reasons. I already got that vibe before this episode, but Gangle talking about how she cant tell when Ragatha is being genuine or not makes me very confident this is the case
I thought Gangle was gonna abstract in that last bit of the episode, and im like 99% sure that was intentional. I love that a lot… I love how this show is written, abstracting was introduced right away, so now its a looming threat across all these characters youve grown to love, appreciate, and relate too
Idk what Gangle getting hit by the truck was a reference to, but part of my brain rot theorizing in me wants to say this digital world is basically Hell and thats how she “died” before getting here. Doesnt make any godamn sense and the truck thing totally has other explainations I JUST CANT THINK OF ANY!!! PUTTEM IN THE COMMENTS BELOW AND DONT FORGET TO HIT THAT BEL- *gets shot*

New the amazing digital circus chapter came out and I want to talk about it
First the Candy Canyon Kingdom is a very nice setting, is basically just sugar rush from wreck it Ralph but I still like it
I like how they foreshadowes Pomni’s escape from the test room at the beginning with her falling on a cube causing the colíderes to go awry y send her flying to the ceiling
Gumigoo was great, I like how to shows the AI’s not being evil since the made up story Caine made is him stealing the syrup for his village, and even after discovering his live was a lie he still tried to help his lads
On the topic of “non evil ai” after hearing how Gumigoo was a good guy and the Fudge calling the princess wretched, I for one second thought she would be a twist villain, but nope, she’s really a good person
I also like how Caine and Bubbles seems to be the most primitive AI’s
The princess is calm and nice, Gumigoo friends are dumb but in a cartoony and not AI like way, Gumigoo is very good at being like a human, even Fudge is aware his a despicable and disgusting creature (although not for the murders but that’s just how he was made)
Meanwhile Caine can’t read the room or understand human emotions besides boredom being bad for their stability while not understanding the problems of deleting NPC’s the players get attached to, unlike Gumigoo which understood revealing the truth would be bad for them
Also the test room not having Gumigoo’s mum but having Fudge implies Caine planned they would fall into the pit, and since they couldn’t escape from that situation without fudge’s help implies letting Fudge into the kingdom was the way the adventure was supposed to end
Specially since Fudge was programmed to be able to walk in land, why else’s would he need it?
Caine doesn’t understand what can and can’t help their mental health so he wouldn’t see anything wrong in letting Fudge into the Kingdom
I find really funny how Jax was the evilest guy in the situation, unlike the Gloinks, here there’s a nuisance on the history with Fudge just being a monster in a pit (kinda like Moana, Maui isn’t pure evil and Teka isn’t evil either, Tamatoa is just vibing and waiting to do evil) but Jax is the one who wants to destroy the kingdom for the laughs
Note:fudge reminds me of “the great mighty POO” of conkers bad fur day
Also I really like how they didn’t brush of Kaufmo and showed they actually cared for him and is ultimately this act of kindness the thing that helps Pomni to see the circus as family
Note:notice how she didn’t add kinger to the ones saving her, maybe he didn’t appear because his hand wouldn’t be recognizable with the shading and all that but is still worth to mention
Also I like how Kinger acts supportive but forgets what he was saying mid sentence, I don’t know if he was faking madness or he’s really damaged. But I like how he really cares
Also the humans can just not go to Caine’s adventures like Zooble does which shows Caine isn’t evil but misguided
And before last I want to mention Caine not allowing other npcs in the grounds, he’s silence after saying “who knows what might happen” implies something, and seeing how some of the doors in the pilot have the faces of the mannequins implies he use to allow npcs but something happen
This makes me theorize someone MIGHT be a NPC, my money is on Kinger since he’s borderline unhinged and lasted for way too long to be normal
Also that would explain why there was a Queener, since the possibility of two humans getting the matching avatars is too small it makes me thing the two were NPC’s and during the accident Queener got deleted by something or someone and the only reason Kinger hasn’t abstracted is because he isn’t a human, him being a npc also explains how he knows so much of the circus
He might have been from a time NPC’s we’re allowed to be self aware of the circus being digital, maybe that’s why Caine hasn’t upgraded his AI since that would risk him going crazy or give up like Gumigoo almost goes
Also Maybe Kinger mental state must be because of Caine, if Caine deleted Queener then Kinger must have been angry but for some reason Caine choose to make him forget making Kinger the forgetful king he is now days but Caine must have forgotten about Kinger being a NPC
this is the same Caine who let that unfinished exit door roam around which caused Kaufmo to get abstracted, it wouldn’t surprise me he also forgot Kinger was a NPC
And for last I want to mention the last scene being a direct parallel of the last scene of the pilot, all the crew is reunited and Pomni comes to a realization as a version of the theme song starts
Except of being massive and dreadful, here is hopeful and calm. Instead of looking at the camera and ignoring everyone while going crazy with a crazy smile filled with despair, she focuses on the others and genuinely smiles
The camera starts moving away but in a much slower manner as the music slowly ends with a simple calm piano instead of a massive chaotic orchestra
The finale of episode 2 is a opposite of the pilot, being a small note of hope compared to the dreadful realization of Episode 1

I love how everyone's speculating how Jax not wanting to hold his breath is some type of foreshadowing for a major reveal like him being an NPC or something but what if it turns out he just becomes really small or something and it's super embarrassing to him

I have so many thoughts on Jax and none of them add up I'm going insane. Cannot decide if I think he's an NPC or not.
Evidence for it:
Inexplicably has keys to places he shouldn't. 'master of unlocking things'
Inexplicable control over his ability to defy physics compared to everyone else (ep 2 truck chase scene through the bumpy road; standing perfectly still while the truck plummets into the fudge)
Jax pin being the only one that not only doesn't show the inside of his room, but also references the void
Self aware enough to break the 4th wall, not always good at it though. (Episode 1 "hah, she still thinks this is dream" while looking at the camera. Episode 3 "what do you the viewers think?" While pointing at the camera. However the camera angle moves and we see him pointing at nothing/the wrong place for a second. Episode 4 "wait nobody can see this right?" While getting clockwork oranged by manic gangle, almost certainly in regards to us, the audience)
Jax being sus about not holding his breath also to see the side effect.
License plate in Episode 4 having 1138 as a reference to the movie THX-1138, a scifi film in which AI becoming self aware is a large theme, and possibly the .001 a reference to blender copy file extension.
Caine's obvious foreshadowing of an NPC in the circus in episode 2 after vaporizing Gummigoo.
Reasons I'm not convinced:
Isn't ragatha the one who has been in the circus the second longest? Wouldn't she then know Jax is an NPC if so? Kinger's memory is shot to shit so it's plausible he wouldn't remember either way. But how would Ragatha not know? And if she DID know, why would she
A. Ask Pomni genuinely in episode 2 if NPCs are allowed back to the circus referring to Gummigoo
B. Hate Jax, but not want Jax to hate her? Why bother with the weird interpersonal drama with an NPC? Like, why treat an NPC that you hate like they are a real person anyway?
Honestly at this point, I'm almost convinced that the circus residents are digital scans/AI copies of humans' consciousness who have put on that headset, but aren't aware of that fact. Feels like the only way the residents wouldn't be able to escape indefinitely while not being rotting corpses stuck in a chair IRL. And Jax somehow became privy to that reality while the others remain unaware of their own AI existence. It's the only thing that makes it make sense I think. Could explain why they have SOME memories, but not others (like their names)
#tadc#theory#Jax#the amazing digital circus#idk man i NEED the Jax and ragatha episodes i am gnawing on the bars of my enclosure

TADC episode 3 spoilers
I knew the insect collection lines were foreshadowing something about his wife. I fucking called it. AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This episode is the best-written so far, I think. People are already talking about all the Kinger quirks that retroactively make sense, but I also love the reinforcement that Caine really, truly means well and is trying his best within whatever confines he's programmed to have. It's not even his fault that Pomni and Kinger had a bad time this episode; the horror was supposed to be opt-in, and even then the angel was blatantly programmed to be harmless. Kinger would be very dead otherwise.
I'm also 👀 at this exchange early on:
> Ragatha: Hey, be nice to her! She's had a rough couple of days.
> Jax: Her and everyone else.
They keep dropping little hints that Jax's behaviour is a front, that he cares about things more than he lets on, and this- while snarky- sounds like an accidental admission he isn't okay lol. When he finally gets a dedicated episode it will be glorious.
Also who do y'all think is likeliest to next abstract? I'm calling Ragatha; she sounded a bit close to her limit in episode 1 and being the mum friend of the group must be stressful. Maybe we'd get a Jax-finally-cracks episode after that.
Edit: Also!!! Why did the hell spirit know about Kinger's wife!!! That implies at least some NPCs are reused/have continuity/otherwise have knowledge going beyond their specific scenario, which is big. I doubt Caine would've scripted that intentionally.

Thoughts on The Amazing Digital Circus Episode 2: spoilers.
Hey! That’s pretty good! I think this can be the establishment episode for character dynamics, but I’m actually surprised at how fast the show went to deconstructing the reality of the VR game and explore how the NPCs and environment tug against the players.
Gummigoo was especially a nice “traditional background character sucked into questioning their mundane life” situation and I appreciate where the writing team went with Pomni resonating with him. Sure, she can’t fully understand his situation or life, but there is a natural connection made with the feeling of being fake, and leaving reality for where you can’t come back to it. Pomni’s journey is more literal while Gummigoo’s is half literal and half personal. After all, they made it back to the Candy Canyon Kingdom.
If I were the writers I would’ve weote something cheesy for Pomni to say like “even if you’re fake, I don’t want to be fake by myself, so can I be fake with you” but no, she actually tries a way out and works, proving she has a quick ability to learn and adapt to the terrible collision physics of this simulation (foreshadowed in the first minutes where she trips on a glitched wooden letter cube) as well as strive to be independent of other character’s control and demands! Also, Pomni doesn’t have the right answer about everything, of course in the situation she’d only be able to muster out how she feels sympathy and sharing her experiences at the circus and inviting him to the place. She’s also an adult woman completely pulled out of her normal living space, she’s improvising theraputic conversation with Gummigoo.
So plot aside, what a out the other carnies?
This episode is really establishing who each character is and what their motivations are, especially placed in an active adventure with the resources given by Loo.
I will start with the characters I find the most interesting and finish with the ones I have the least to talk about out.
Jax: in a D&D alignment chart he is chaotic evil. Literally in an encounter with an irredeemable murdering monster he offers it a way to get back into the Candy Canyon Kingdom and continue his murder spree. Jax himself says after Gaggle asks what he hoped for in his adventure. He wanted “a final battle” with “bloodshed death and chaos” he not only likes to see loud, violent, and sudden events in the scripted adventures, he’ll do it at the expense of other people’s lives. Chaotic evil isn’t necessarily an evil mage with a red orb and a staff of black magic, it can be an asshole who wants to see something explode or someone to break a neck. His first instinct to take down the baddies is to shoot them without mercy, and he uses Pomni as a tightrope to cross to the bandit truck. Spending a lot of time in the circus fucks up your moral compass, but that’s… mostly Jax, he doesn’t follow along with the script, he knows it’s all a game and when the level’s over the consequences are reset.
Ragatha: She is absolutely the goody-two-shoes and almost antithesis to Jax. She carried her human morality to the digital Circus and plays along with the script. She doesn’t end up being as active since honestly it’s Jax’s chaos and Kinger’s impulsiveness that drives Pomni’s separation and the deal with Fudge. She clearly empathizes with Pomni and her struggle with being in the wrong reality. As an unintentional allusion in the scene where Pomni imagines herself falling to the void of abstraction only to get grabbed by the ither carnie’s hands, Ragatha is the last to grab Pomni’s hand, but her palm completely grasps Pomni’s palm, because she has the strongest grip. That and Kinger’s line of “how long you took to get used to this place” Ragatha sees Pomni as like herself in her first days here, and generally has the empathy and kindness of a mom, compared to Jax being a nihilistic anarchist free of restraint.
Gaggle: She is the soft bean pushed around. I know getting uwu-ified into a smol bean is an often flanderized archetype for characters who can get scared or are weak or look cute but when Gaggle loses her happy mask she can be pushed around like a ragdoll(?) She is even called out by Jax saying “aren’t you supposed to be submissive and agreeable” and is easily coerced by Jax threatening to tell her embarrassing secrets, since he’s a master pickpocketer and sneak. She also becomes super pessimistic and nervous wreck in this state. She answers “no” when asked if she’s okay, whenever Hax tells her to do something risky she has to say “I don’t think that’s a good idea” “I don’t think we should do this” “this violates some kind of convention.” but does it when blackmailed, and generally doesn’t react when Jax takes her goggles without input. She doesn’t react when Fudge tries to eat the carnies! Ragatha is the only one who doesn’t want to get eaten. Jax wanted anything to happen and Kinger? Hmmm, I’ll get to him. Gaggle generally wasn’t that interesting because she was very reactive and quiet, not much to learn from her when she’s pushed around by other Carnie’s.
Kinger: as always this guy’s head is an enigma! Generally also reacts to other character’s actions he is somehow both super clueless to the bigger picture or general situation unfolding (like when he threw an anchor to save Pomni… in a truck chase, didn’t even see if the anchor was tied to anything, and before that he throws a life saver… in a truck chase… ON LAND) but he can point out all the weird little minute details. What’s the first thing he says this episode? “And they got little candy bugs too!” He also points out how Pomni has missed out on a giant gloopy monster twice, and even agrees with Jax that Ragatha’s hair looks like licorice, not even because he hates her, he just points out what he knows. Kinger is a little cuckoo in the head as previously established, run around the bend longer than anyone else. His observance seems to be from his age, all the general tropes, environments, and characters have become repetitive and boring, blending into this mass of 3-D colorful plastic glamour of the games they play, only the small breaks from the ordinary pick up Kinger’s interest. He’s not the wise old man, he’s the more or less disassociated old man. In fact, his memory is incredibly episodic, remembering Ragatha’s adaptation to the circus one moment and forgetting it a moment later. Scrolling Wikipedia on Dissasociative disorders I think Gooseworx unintentionally made Kinger a patient with Dissasociative Amnesia. Abstracting could have parallels to Depersonalization-Derealization disorder, with the idea that you get a feeling and detachment from your surrounding, but less realistic in that there aren’t out of body experiences or hallucinations seeing objects bigger or smaller than they actually are, and difficulty feeling emotions or recognizing yourself in the mirror, more like… becoming a void monster with rainbow eyes.
Overall, episode 2 was a good episode, more or less it was another Pomni-centric episode, after all she was thrust into this environment and we should fallow along with her adaptation to this fucked up new reality, and as for the B-plot it’s mainly Jax being a chaotic sadistic freak while Ragatha tries to make the best of a bad situation. Wowie 8/10 good job fellas!

NEW THIS MORNING: The 4th new episode of 'The Amazing Digital Circus' dropped in to serve at Spudsy's [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- 'The Amazing Digital Circus' has just been recently dropped new episode on Saturday morning (December 14th, 2024 -- Australia local time). This brand-spanking new episode, where the circus crew, including Pomni, went on a crazy adventure to Spudsy's, a fast food restaurant mimicking the retro feel of the 90s with its parodies of McDonald's as they briefly became employees there for only a day.
In the new episode, per exclusively obtained to 'OneNETnews', Pomni and her digital friends run wild in their fast-food workplace. That's because, Gangle underwent a sudden transformation that sees her take over the restaurant with a new mask that altered her character type from meek to dominant. From Ragatha's odd antics to a storyline involving "Stupid Sauce" that finds her acting erratically for the remainder of the episode, the narrative veers into some bizarre territory.
Several key developments allowing fans to enjoy Caine's first major introduction, and an appearance naming 'Gloink Queen' & 'Gummigoo', his eventual intimidating nemesis who appears for reasons unknown after being seemingly vaporized in a previous 2nd episode "Candy Carrier Chaos!" from a non-player characters (NPCs) when arrived in the circus home.
It is still unclear, whether the relationship of Gummigoo has received an official acknowledgment for Pomni. OneNETnews can confirm as Gummigoo finally returns as a common customer of Spudsy's. This episode is also not anything like those seen before in more low-key, and exploring some deep character dynamics with a lot of dark humor, in addition to an understatement in the narration.
The menu of Spudsy's, according to 'TheWackyWatch' website, featuring the selections of "The Slab", "Mega Mega Stack", "Dobby Dog", and "Just Pickles". Prices are ranging from U$D0.31 cents to U$D70 (or approximately PHP20 to PHP4,106).
Shifting gears from the previous installments, the episode features a more mature narrative approach. Significantly, research shows a purposeful prioritization of atmosphere, including minimized background music (BGM), establishing a darker and more contemplative ambience. It is a stylistic choice that deepens character exploration, not least through Gangle's turbulent emotional experience, almost clear to the facts of mental issues.
Character dynamics take center stage, with particular attention paid to the psychological undercurrents of the said digital characters. The episode's black comedy elements, exemplified by moments like Jax's shocking interaction with Ragatha, underscore the series' willingness to push narrative boundaries.
Intriguingly, there is some delightful foreshadowing for an appearance from Ragatha in the next new episode. She is woodenly playing with a rubber baseball, and her movements seem to suggest plot developments to be expected in 2025 and beyond. This spicy narrative breadcrumb has already begun to catalyze, and some speculations from the show’s diehard fanbase.
"Fast Food Masquerade" is a standout episode that digs deeper into the personalities and struggles of the characters. The unique setting and serious tone make it one of the most memorable installments in the series. Fans of The Amazing Digital Circus will surely enjoy this latest episode release.
Start your day with a morning shift as 'The Amazing Digital Circus' is available to stream right now for free via video-sharing platform YouTube, and paid American streaming provider Netflix.
