Sooo.. @pokemon-ash-aus gave the idea of âP2â versions of ourselves so I drew this for fun
But this got me thinking about my lore.. so imma talk about it
The new characters in the picture (Inhibitor and SW-8) donât really match my actual sonas at the bottom, but I figured that didnât matter because their âtrueâ form is literally nothingness and they can shapeshift into whatever form they want.
This got me thinking, maybe Catalyst and Inhibitor arenât 2 different beings but one that are from different timelines. Where Catalyst ran away sad from the wild universe he visited (https://www.tumblr.com/crazytiger6/736338889348972544/the-following-story-may-or-may-not-be-canon-i paragraph 5), Inhibitor realized he could do whatever he wanted and fought back against the bullies becoming a supervillain of sorts. (Donât ask me how SW-8 fits in I do not know :P)
But this had me thinking, beings that have traveled between universes shouldnât be able to create new timelines other than the initial entrance to a universe, as that would cause many duplicates of the same being whoâll all likely try to leave at the same time and then you have a mess of almost identical characters all in one place.
The solution, therefore is instead of different choices causing an in-universal timeline split, it causes an extra-universal timeline split, where the entirety of every universe contained in the Void Between Worlds is separated. Most universes remain completely unaffected, especially through small changes.
The new thing now, is that with major differences between hyper-universal timelines, such as the Void Being (thatâs what Iâm calling pre-name Catalyst now) becoming Inhibitor instead of Catalyst, embracing the nature of the Void instead of taming it. This only directly affects 2 universes, the universe that Inhibitor now rules over, and the universe Catalyst created. On Catalystâs side the wild universe continues as it always had, and his own universe exists, however on Inhibitorâs side, the wild universe is now ruled by Inhibitor and the universe that would be created by Catalyst, doesnât come into existence.
There is more than just the direct impacts though, there are a lot of universes that get indirectly affected by this choice. CT-6 doesnât talk to Anew in the Void (small change https://www.tumblr.com/sendinganew/737143310589804544/ct-6-ah-its-been-a-while-since-ive-been-back) along with any characters who would go to talk to ”-0 and co. not having done that, Zephyr continues to explore the multiverse (potentially big change, depending on Zephyrâs actions), and any universes that would be visited by ”-0 and friends after the machine is finished no longer get visited.
Big difference between Hyper-universal/Void time is that while it still progresses forwards, it takes a lot more energy to travel backwards in time. Time traveling backwards in the Void Between Worlds is one of the few things that Catalyst cannot do on his own. And you have to be VERY careful if you do manage to do it, because causing a paradox could potentially destroy every universe in that branch of the timeline.
I donât think I have anything else to say, I hope that was understandable, I didnât read over any of it, feel free to ask questions if you want to know more!

Jungkook stumbles into the empty apartment with Jimin and Taehyung following closely behind him. He curses under his breath as he takes his shoes off, the apartment is cold thanks to the running AC and he fucking shivers. He thought being this drunk he would be extra warm but nope, it doesnât look that way.
âJesus, what is the temperature set on?â Jimin is the first to outwardly complain. âDo you want me to freeze to death?â
âIt is really cold, Jungkook.â Taehyung whines as he slips his own shoes off.
âSorryâŠâ Jungkook mutters, ây/n usually took care of the air. But as you two know sheâs no longer with usâ
âYouâre acting like she died.â Jimin deadpans as Taehyung tries to stifle a chuckle.
âShe isnât answering her phoneâŠâ Jungkook pouts to himself. âShe said she would always answer my calls no matter what.â He juts his lip out dramatically and Jimin rolls his eyes.
âShe still has a life dude.â
âI am supposed to be her life.â He whines, walking in the living room and plopping down on the couch. âI was only going to tell her I miss her.â
âShe knows you miss her man.â Taehyung sits down next to him, âWe all knowâŠâ
âWell, now you guys get to hear it more.â Jungkook pipes up, âBecause I miss her soooo much. I miss her hugs, her cuddles, her kisses, god, I really miss when she would suck my diââ
âOkay!â Taehyung cuts him off but Jimin swats Taeâs arm.
âNo, let him finish.â Jimin says with a smirk.
âYouâre gross dude.â Tae swats Jiminâs arm in return.
âGod, she really knows how to ride dick too.â Jungkook drunkenly slurs out, âLike, she just really knows what sheâs doing.â
âIâm glad my girl is getting so much praise!â Jimin claps his hands as his sly smile grows, âPlease, tell us more.â He leans his head forward.
âPlease donât.â Taehyung chuckles awkwardly. âDo you guys want to play a game or watch music videos or something?â
âI want to talk to my girl.â Jungkook cries out dramatically. âI miss her.â
âMaybe you need to rub one out dude.â Jimin playfully remarks, âMake a video for her or something.â Jimin is so clearly joking but Jungkookâs entire face lights up like he was just given the best god damn idea in the world.
âOkay, you guys go home. Iâm going to bed.â Jungkook stands up and begins walking to your shared bedroom.
âHe realizes we arenât leaving right?â Taehyung asks Jimin and Jimin just shrugs.
âLetâs watch music videos.â
~~~~~~
Jungkook has his phone set up on the desk, his camera on and pointed towards him. He has his shirt off and is only wearing briefs and sweats. He decides to run his fingers through his already messy hair and make it a bit more wild.
Heâs going to send you a little teaser video. He presses record on his phone and sits at the desk, his legs spread wide as he rubs himself over his sweats. His cock grows harder and harder as he rubs himself, he throws his head back on the chair. He then takes his hand and drags the sweats and briefs down, letting his cock spring free. He strokes it gently while whimpering. He calls out for you over and over. His quiet voice rising just the slightest as he gets himself going.
And thatâs it. Thatâs the video. He presses stop and watches it over and approves. He sends it to you with a smirk on his face, he hopes you love it.
y/n 3:34am
Jungkook, what the fuck
y/n 3:35am
I started watching that in public!!! Do you know how quick I had to turn off my phone!!!!!!
Jungkook 3:35am
Oh? So you do existâŠI was starting to think you didnât cuz you keep ignoring my calls
y/n 3:36am
im now just seeing the calls baby, Ill be home soonâŠill video call you
Jungkook 3:36am
Good.
Jungkook suddenly becomes so fucking giddy, he jumps to his feet in rushed excitement. He canât wait to see your gorgeous face. Unfortunately, he stood up way too fast, the world starting to spinâŠhis drunken world.
âAh, fuck.â He slurs.
But really, he canât wait to talk to you, to see you. Itâs been a few months and he has yet to visit. But texts and video calls are whatâs getting him through everything, if heâs being honest. He really does miss youâŠhe misses laying in bed with you just talking, he misses your laugh, he misses your smile, he misses the way you smell, he misses holding youâŠhe just misses you.
Heâs lying on his bed, staring up at the swirling ceiling, wondering when you will call. Itâs around 4 am now and heâs starting to doze off. But thoughts of you are keeping him conscious.
Suddenly, his phone starts vibrating and he sees that he has a incoming video call from you. He excitedly and quickly taps his screen a million times until heâs answering.
âHi.â He slurs out, his dopey grin making you laugh.
âHi drunky.â You giggle, staring at him through your screen.
âJust wanted to talk to you and tell you I miss you. And that I love you more than literally anyone.â He smiles at you, his words getting jumbled together.
âI miss you too baby.â You say softly. âI just got home and I wish I was coming home to you instead.â You quietly pout and he wishes he could kiss your cute lips.
âI am going to buy my ticket to see you soon, I promise. Only two more weeks. Then I see youâ He says, his smile fading. âI really do miss you babe. I feel so lost without you here.â He admits between soft breaths. âI left the AC on too low and I got back home and it was freezing.â
âJungkook.â You whine, âThe bill is gonna be so high.â
âItâs okay my love. I got it.â He assures you with a soft smile and you begin to melt. The screen does not do Jungkook justice.
âYou look very handsome.â You gulp, âDid any girls hit on you tonight?â
âI didnât noticeâŠâ Jungkook smirks, âI make sure to tell everyone I have a beautiful girlfriend.â
You canât help but smile and laughâŠyou two have gotten into some pretty heated arguments over your insecuritiesâŠyou donât want a repeat of that.
âGood. Youâre all mine.â
âAll yours.â He blows you a kiss through the phone and you pout.
âI wish I could feel your lips on me right now.â
âI see you in 2 weeks my love, you will get all the kisses you want and need.â Jungkook slurs his words and you giggle.
âGod, you are drunk.â
âNot uh.â He pokes his tongue out, âIâm maybe a little tipsy though!â he laughs for no real reason and you join him.
âSo about that videoâŠâ you smirk at him, and he brings the phone to his chest as he giggles at his shamelessness.
âHey! Bring the phone back to you!â
âWhat about the video? Hm?â Jungkook brings the phone back to his face and you rub your thighs togetherâŠhis hair is wild and his expression screams that heâs beginning to become fucked out.
âI watched it when I got home.â You admit, âI think it made meâŠâ you pause, biting your lip. âReally wet.â
âOh really?â Jungkook feels his cock hardening at the thought of your wet pussy. âI want you to feel yourself for me and let me know.â
You chuckle, sliding your hand down your yoga pants and feeling yourself.
âIâm wet baby.â
âYour panties soaked?â
âIâm not wearing any.â You breathe out and Jungkook sucks in a sharp breath.
âBad girlâŠâ he finally says. âI wish I could bend you over my knee and spank you.â
âYou wanna slap my ass?â
âMhm. I want to fuck your ass too.â He slurs out and you feel your pussy clench around nothing.
âCan I touch myself?â you shyly ask him and he shakes his head with an evil grin.
âNot yet baby. I want you to watch me first.â
âJungkook, why are you being unfair?â you whine, your fingers just above your aching clit that is dying to be touched.
âJust like playing with you a little.â He admits, âI like getting you so worked up.â
âOkay, Iâll watch you.â
Jungkook gets off the bed and places the phone on the desk, setting it up to where you can have the perfect view of him sitting in the chair.
âShould I continue where I left off?â
âYes.â You sigh out heavily, waiting just waiting to see his gorgeous cock.
âWhatâs the magic word?â he teases and youâre so close to touching yourself.
âJungkook.â You warn in an exaggerated whine, âPlease.â
âGood girl.â And heâs snaking his hand down his sweats and pulling out his leaking member, itâs so hard and so swollen that your mouth waters immediately. God, you are so starved of his cock that even through the screen it has you desperate for him.
âI want you to grip your cock for meâŠâ you begin to instruct, âAnd tug at the head just a little, get you feeling good.â
Jungkook obeys your orders as he gets a hold of his aching length, he starts by squeezing the tip just slightly getting him to groan out.
âGood, now use the lube baby. Put a generous amount in your palm, I want your dick soaked.â He does as you say, squirting the lube in his hand.
âNow stroke your cock for me, but donât put too much pressure.â
âBabyâŠâ he breathes out.
âPretend that itâs my hand.â You softly order, âPretend Iâm there with you right now.â
âAh.â Jungkook moans out as he strokes himself, âFeels good.â He says, causing you to arch your back. You begin moving your hips back and forth as you watch him.
âOkay,â you swallow hard, âAdd more pressure and stroke yourself faster.â
Jungkook squeezes his hand around his length, his moans getting louder and you blink at him, your hand tightening its grip around your phone. He looks so fucking hot.
âI want you to take your other hand, yes good, and touch your balls for me, yesâŠjust like that.â Jungkook is a sight for sore eyes, his cock and balls out on display and you want to jump through the screen and straddle his lap, sinking down on to him. Fuck, you want to touch yourself.
âShitâŠbabyâŠâ you say, losing composure as you watch him get himself off, âPlease let me touch myself.â
âOkay.â Jungkook gives the green light, âRub your clit for me.â He says while rubbing himself faster and faster, his head thrown back in pleasure as high pitched moans leave his mouth.
âThank you babyâ you set your phone down, your hands quickly pull down your yoga pants and you immediately touch your desperate bundle of nerves.
âGotta see you though.â Jungkook whines. âNeed to see you. See your pussy, see your face.â
âFuck, okay, hold on.â You prop the phone up on some pillows until he has the perfect view of you.
âLemme see your fingers on that pretty pussy baby.â He softly commands and you feel yourself get dizzy. âEven through the screen I can see how fucking wet you are, my god.â Jungkook strokes himself faster. âMy baby is so perfect.â
âHow close are you? Can you wait for me?â You practically beg and he smirks.
âI got all night baby.â He winks, âNow get your fingers nice and wet, soak them. Then I want you to taste yourself.â
Your fingers gather your juices, drenching them in the process. You bring your fingers to your lips and suck on them, allowing a moan to escape. Jungkook rolls his eyes to the back of his head as he watches you.
âGood girl.â He praises, âHowâs it taste? Fucking delicious, right?â
âYes. Yes.â You moan out, your fingers going back to your clit.
âWant to see those fingers fuck your pretty pussy.â He slows down on his cock, he grips it tighter instead and rubs himself slowly. âLet me see.â
You slip one finger inside your hole and gasp, itâs been so long since something, anything has entered you like this.
âAnother finger.â
Your eyes widen at his requestâŠbut you listen, you slide another finger inside your weeping cunt and begin to thrust them in and out of you.
âAnother finger.â
âJungkook.â You sigh out, âAnother?â
âYes baby, you can take it.â He fondles his balls some more, still stroking his dick. âLet me see.â
You slip a third finger in your hole and you start to feel full. You begin thrusting all three fingers in and out of you at a quick and brutal pace. His fingers would reach more places but yours will have to do for now.
âAh fuckâŠâ you grit out, âI wish you were here, Jungkook.â
âKeep saying my name.â
âJungkook, Jungkook.â He starts rubbing himself faster now, he is losing it. He imagines you writhing beneath him, your lips apart, breathing heavily. Heâs so close, he fucking close.
âBaby, letâs come soon.â He breathes out, âTogether.â
âmmm.â Your other hand finds your clit, and you begin rubbing it faster and harder trying to set yourself over the edge.
âImagine my cock is inside you right now baby, imagine me fucking you, making you scream my name.â
âYes, Jungkook!â you yell out, not caring if your neighbors hear you. âFuck, Iâm about to come.â
Jungkook grips the tip of his cock and strokes himself so quickly, his hips meeting him halfway as he moans out your name over and over until his cum is spurting out and making a mess in his hand. Thatâs the last strawâŠthatâs what you needed to see to get you to come.
You let the tension build so deliciously, until it snaps in half. You come all over your fingers, with the image that youâre creaming all over Jungkookâs cock.
âUgh.â You groan, âI miss you so muchâŠâ you calm your heavy breaths, âCan two weeks hurry the hell up?â
Jungkook stares at the screen and smiles, his hand still sticky with his cum. He grabs a towel and cleans himself and is looking at you once again.
âTwo weeks baby, and Iâll be there. Iâll be there to hold you, kiss you, fuck you.â
âTwo weeks.â You say with a smile.
Two weeks and youâll be reunited with your love.
It Goes Both Ways
Rating: M (Somewhat graphic talk of injury)
Pairing: Din x GN!Reader
Summary: You take a hit for Din, feelings and angst ensue.
Note: Hello sorry this is literally all angst, a tiny bit of fluff. I can't stop myself, I just love the whole "feelings being revealed through injury" trope. If anyone wants, I was thinking about a smutty part two to this one! Let me know. Also, y'all were so kind with Doubt, so thank you!
...
The fight went bad from the second it started.
Well, before that, if you were being completely honest. Everyone in the cantina had been too still, too tense when you and Mando entered. It was so clearly unnatural for the usually boisterous atmosphere of a Nevarro night.
Yet somehow, you both missed it.
The kid was really to blame. He had been a ball of energy all night, practically bouncing off the walls of the hull while you and his father did everything in your power to get him to calm down. You were both annoyed and tired as your set out to meet the contact, should have known there was no hope of success. When the eight men in the cantina converged on you both, you were immediately thrust into the defensive. Exactly where you knew Mando hated to be. You had taken down several attackers, using your blade to slash and hack until it broke off in the chest cavity of some blue creature. You had lost just a moment as you attempted to wrench the hopeless blade from the now lifeless corpse, but it was enough time for a rough tug to pull you to the ground and a heavy weight to climb on top of you. You remembered the previous night almost fondly as opposed to the impossibly tight grip on your throat now.
Your fingers dug into the hand around your throat to no avail as the man- a Twiâlek, you now realized- bared his teeth down at you. Hot breath brushed over your face and you grimaced even further. Eyes rolling, you managed to steal a glance at Mando who was engaged in his own battle. There were two on him, one managing to get Mandoâs arms behind his back in a tight hold while the other approached with a raised blade as you looked on. Fear shot through you at his vulnerable position and you doubled your efforts.
Your fingernails finally caught purchase on the arm that held you down at the same moment you bucked your hips with everything you had. A hiss came from above as you managed to pull one leg above the hips holding you down. Twisting hard, you flipped the man into the floor at full speed, his cheek cracking against the hard dirt. On your hands and knees now, you whipped your head up to see the armed man raise his blade and prepare to strike at Mandoâs exposed neck. The fabric of his cowl would do nothing to stop the glowing, razor-sharp weapon that was mear inches from him now.
You shot up, your boots digging into the dirt as you righted yourself directly into a sprint. It happened in a split second. You reached Mando just as the blade completed its arc, half-throwing, and half-pressing yourself in front of his armored chest in a protective stance. You followed your first instinct, forearm coming up to block the blow.
White-hot pain bloomed along your arm, reaching all the way to the bone, as the blade cut through you like butter. Gasping at the initial shock, you managed to get a gut punch into the man in front of you before dropping to one knee. You clutched your forearm, trying your hardest to not collapse and curl up right then and there. You dimly registered fighting directly behind you through closed eyes, hoping to God it was Mando dealing with the last guy.
No offense to him, but you felt like you had done enough.
A wave of nausea came over you as you dared to open your eyes, taking in the bloody mess that was now your arm. The cut wasnât overly long, but it was deep. You knew you had felt it hit bone, but jeez, you didnât think you would be able to see it.
A blaster shot from behind you gave your enough adrenaline to rise on unsteady feet, turning to see Mando with his arm still raised, blaster smoke rising from the body of the final hostile in the room.
He turned to you with an immediacy that made you sway, the speed of the movement causing another wave of nausea to rise up. You doubled over as he approached, pressing your good hand to the back of your mouth. He was mumbling something as he approached you, Mandoâa you would realize later. His hands found your hunched shoulders as you finally heard a word you recognized well,
âCyare-hey, hey, look at me-â
With your hand still planted firmly over your mouth, you glanced up at him. You were taken aback by just how shook up he looked, even underneath the armor. His hands were tight around your shoulders, almost bruising you with their intensity. His chest was heaving, but it couldnât be from the fight now. His voice nearly shook.
The pain almost blinding you was nothing compared to the icing feeling that crept down your spine at the sheet panic he was radiating. It wasnât right, you had never seen him simply break like this.
You had seen him trembling underneath you, above you as he came, but he was still always in control when you were together. This was different.
This was frightening.
His hand pulled up to cup your jaw as you faced him, tilting it back and forth, frantically searing you even though the source of your pain was obvious. You wanted to say something, anything, to get him to calm down. But when you managed to pull your hand from your mouth, all that escaped was a low groan of pain.
Well that didnât work, you thought faintly before your face collided with Mandoâs chestplate, blackness overtaking you a second after.
âŠ
The swaying was what woke you. A constant, fast motion shook you all over. Most pertinently, it was shaking the hell out of your arm. Something was wrapped around you, holding you close to a hard metal surface.
Why did it hurt again?
Ah yes, the cut.
The cut. The fight.
Mando.
You forced your eyes open, instinctually pulling away from whatever was retraining you. A gruff voice spoke to you as you turned your eyes to face the dark fabric of Mandoâs chin.
âStop.â
His faceplate didnât even turn to you, just one word directed outward to the now-dark street ahead of you. He was carrying you through the town bridal style, your damaged arm tucked up into your chest as your calves swung with each footfall.
The memories of the night flooded back to your in greater detail, mainly your injury. An injury, you now noticed, hurt a lot less than it had...a few minutes ago? An hour?
Your confusion formed a question. Fighting the dryness in your voice, you huffed out, âHow long was I out?â
âNot long.â
Another short answer, again not facing you.
A frown tugged on your lips, brows furrowing. Had something happened you didnât remember? Why was he suddenly pissed at you? Finally, you glanced down at your arm. Wrapped in several bacta patches, secured with more bandages.
When the hell did that happen?
âCantina had suppliesâ
Sometimes his ability to read you pissed you off.
You finished the trip in silence, doing your best to let off a pissed-off vibe. It was childish. You knew how to communicate, you knew Mando hardly ever did. But you were tired, hurt, and you didnât know why that was such a huge problem to him. You had saved his ass, anyway.
You should be the pissed one if anything.
You approached the Crestâs ramp and you prepared to be set down, tensing your legs and starting to push off his chest with your good arm.
His grip simply remained firm, however, showing no indication he would be letting you down. You twisted your head in an attempt to look him in the visor, confused as all hell. His face remained stubbornly to front, much to your continued irritation.
You pushed off him a few more futile times, wiggling your hips in an attempt to loosen his hand around your knees.
Nothing.
You just slumped in his arms then, waiting for what seemed like the worldâs slowest ramp to hit the ground.
He stomped into the ship and didnât set you down until the ramp started to raise. His demeanor still remained stony, but he set you down with a gentleness only reserved for you and the child. He steadied you as your feet hit the ground, but his hands pulled away as soon as he confirmed you could stand alone.
Before you could even speak, he was gone, heading to the ladder of the cockpit.
That was it, you had absolutely had enough.
You threw your good hand in the air before shouting across the silent hull.
âYeah, thanks for the ride, Iâll just go fuck off then.â
It wasnât your best line, but you were pissed. And confused.
And hurt more than anything.
To your credit, the words were enough to stop him, hand on the first rung of the ladder. You stood expectantly, breathing heavily from your words and your injury.
Silence.
You made an incredulous sound, turning around and folding your arms to the best of your ability.
âLeave it to me to fuck up and save your ass, my bad, it wonât happen again.â
You winced as the words left your mouth, it was mean. It was terrible. You didnât mean it. You would lay down your life for him at any moment and he knew it. Well, you thought he knew it. You thought he would do the same for you, too. But here he was, acting like you were a liability. Like he didnât care about you at all. It made you defensive. Maybe you misread things between you too. Maybe you were just sex to him. Maybe you didnât go any further.
That was fine, you could handle that. You just needed him to tell you, and not do whatever this was.
Leather creaked as his hand tightened on the metal with your words, but silence persisted. The fight in your was waning as your thoughts continued to run wild.
Your next words came out more defeated than aggressive, âIf Iâm an issue, just tell me. Iâm gone.â
That sparked something in him, hand flying off the ladder as he whirled to face you. The movement caught you off guard, combined with the weakened state it made you stumble back a step Then another, then more as the suddenly fervent Mandaoliran stalked toward you across the hull. Your back hit the wall before he finally stopped a foot away from you, helmet tilted down at you as his shoulders rose and fell with deep, ragged breaths.
His helmet searched you, looking you up and down while his hands came to hover near your shoulder. He didnât touch you, however, simply grasping at air several times in contemplation before fisting them once more at his side.
âOf course youâre an issue, you are the issue -my issue.â
His tone was unreadable, half-angry, half-desperate.
You gaped like a fish in his face, trying to make sense of what the hell was going on. Where was this coming from?
Your silence rushed him forward. Pushing a finger into your chest, he rambled, âYou did fuck up- saving me. I didnât want you- you shouldnât have- I didnât need it.â He spat the final words, but there was something underneath it, far too similar to his tone earlier, his panic.
Still, his words reignited your anger and confusion. âWhat do you mean you âdidnât need itâ. That knife was going for your neck!â
He threw his head back, hands coming up to grip the sides of his helmet.
âExactly! A knife which you jumped in front of, with no plan, no defense. What were you thinking?â
âI was thinking I didnât want you to die, idiot! What the hell did you think I was thinking?â
He stumbled, whatever retort he had dying soundlessly on his tongue. Then, he spun from you, crossing his arms over his chest as he did. His next words were quiet, dismissive but firm.
âI didnât ask for that. Never do that again.â
You literally could not comprehend his train of thought. Did he want you to just let him die? You grabbed his shoulder with your good hand, trying to force him to face you to no avail.
âYou donât get a say, you donât have to ask. Donât you get it? If I want to take a hit for you, thatâs on me.â
He rounded on you once more, helmet coming so close that it nearly made contact with your forehead. âYou donât get to make that choiceâ, he growled, low and urgent.
Oh, now that was fucking golden.
âWhat? I donât get to make my own choices with my own life? Is that what itâs come to now? Clearly, you donât trust me, but I at least thought you could afford me my own autonomy.â
Finally, his hands came up and grabbed your shoulders, shaking you with intensity as he shouted in your face.
âWould you just listen to me? I wonât- cannot lose you. Not for me. Not ever.â
Your shoulders tensed in his grip and your eyes shot wide. His words startled you, the meaning washing over you in steps. They first relived you, convinced you that you felt the same way about each other, regardless of the fact this was the first time you were both voicing such outright feelings. But they also struck that same anger in you.
âSo you get to protect me but I canât do that same for you?â. Your voice was calmer now, eyes searching his visor for some sign he understood how unfair- if touching- his words were.
His hands loosened on your arms, shoulders dropping from their tense state. His helmet dropped from your gaze, swinging loosely before he sighed, â...Yes.â
His voice upturned at the end, almost in question of his own words. Of course. He knew how stupid it sounded.
Anger left you at his defeated look, head hanging between his shoulders. You raised your good arm, slowly placing your fingertips on the bottom of his helmet. He tensed for a moment at the touch, but you pushed gently enough on the metal that he simply followed your guidance. His visor came to face you once more, the blackness reflecting the look of concern in your eyes. You could only imagine that his held the same look.
Gloved fingers found your bad arm, still drawn tightly to your chest. They brushed over the patches gingerly, making their way to your hand and intertwining with your own digits. Your eyes fluttered at the touch, the familiar feeling melting away the residual pain like water down a stream.
He sighed heavily, before speaking with a subdued sincerity.
âYou make me so fucking scared, pretty. Iâve never-I didnât know that feeling until you and the kid. I canât focus on anything else. I canât lose you- canât live without you.â
His fingers tightened around yours as he spoke, and your soft smile was reflected in silver back at you.
âDo you not think I feel the same thing, feel the same way about you?â
He gave your hand a squeeze before breathing, â...I do.â
Your smile faltered at his admission, worry coloring your next words.
âThen why do you think I could live without you?â
It was times like these you cursed his helmet, his creed. You wanted- needed to know that your words were getting across to him, that he understands just how fucking much he meant to you. While his face was unreadable, a short breath through the modulator and another sharp squeeze of your hand told you that you had hit the mark.
You took a deep breath before saying, âListen. We protect each other. Equally. Thatâs how this works. You canât stop me. So if you want to keep me out of harmâs way, then you have to keep your own metal-ass safe, yeah?â
You swore you heard a chuckle from underneath your helmet at your comment, and you broke into a grin. You pulled your good hand from his and placed it behind his helmet, tugging it toward you and resting the cool metal on your forehead. His hand mimicked your position, coming up to intertwine with the hair at the base of your neck.
You let your eyes slip shut before saying, âDo you understand now, dummy?â
His hand gripped your hair tighter, pressing your closer. His words were thick when he spoke, âI do.â
You released your grip on him, righting yourself, but his hand simply slid down your back. He still held you close when he said, âAnd Iâm sorry⊠for the way I acted. It wasnât my intention to hurt you. I was justâŠâ
He faded off, but you knew where he was headed. You chuckled and flashed another smile, âItâs alright, make it up to me by taking the next knife, huh?â
The usual huff of laughter at your stupid comments didnât come however, his helmet simply tipped down to take you in, hand tightening on your lower back.
âActuallyâŠâ he started, voice growing lower, softer, âI had another idea about how to make it up to youâ
Babies and Beanies
Pairing: Angel Reyes x Pregnant!Female Reader/YouÂ
Rating: Fluff, SFW
Warnings:Â language, vague mentions of sex (nothing explicit), Angelâs roaming hands
Word Count: 1K
Summary: Your pregnancy hormones are taking over and Angel wants to take advantage. đđ
A/N: This was inspired by that picture of Clayton in a beanie. Literally. That was all it took lol. Weâll post the picture below...for science. We hope you guys like it! Enjoy and share with your fellow sucias! Feedback is the preferred drug for our addiction and greatly appreciated. đđ
You watched from your spot at the dining table as EZ checked the turkey, Angel lending a helping hand as they peeled the foil back. You ran a hand along your protruding belly, the baby inside making its presence known. You rubbed at the spot at your side that seemed to be a favorite of the active girl growing in your womb. She was going to be a hellion. A replica of her father. You just knew it.
âYou okay, mama?â Angel asked, concern lacing his voice as he stepped towards you.
You nodded, but grimaced when a particularly forceful kick made its way to your ribs.
âYour daughter is on a roll today.â
He immediately knelt down and became level with your belly, his large hands smoothing over the area. He pressed a kiss to the spot he felt the kicks.
âYo, princesa, take it easy on your mom. If you keep giving her a hard time she wonât let me put another baby in her.â
âAngel,â You admonished, your eyes flicking over to EZ. The younger Reyes shook his head and chuckled as he washed his hands at the sink. You were at least thankful Felipe was in the living room watching the football game.
âWhat?â Angel asked innocently, face breaking out into a grin when you pushed at his shoulder.
EZ grabbed another beer from the fridge and headed back out to the living room. âTurkey needs a few more minutes.â He said over his shoulder, rejoining Felipe.
Angel was still crouched in front of you and when you looked back at him, you realized he was already staring at you.
âWhat?â You questioned self consciously, shifting in your chair.
Heâd had your attention all day. The holiday allowed him to dress casually, shedding the leather and instead wearing a simple black t-shirt, jeans, and a beanie. He looked good...really good. Angel always looked amazing in hats and today was no exception. Youâd noticed that his beard had been showing hints of grey lately and the image drove you absolutely wild. You were sure the added pregnancy hormones werenât helping because aside from the child in your stomach, all you could think about today was Angel taking you home. Not even the promise of Thanksgiving dinner was as appealing as your husband.
âYou look so fucking hot carrying my kid, baby.â
His words set your body ablaze. Your thighs pushed together beneath the fabric of your dress, your desire going from mild to overwhelming in mere seconds.
âYou canât say things like that to a pregnant woman, Angel.â You said with a shake of your head, hoping to derail the conversation.
He didnât take the bait.
âYour tits have gotten huge.â He mused, licking his lips while his hands roamed from your stomach to your heaving breasts.
âWhatâre you doing?â You whispered, suddenly aware that Felipe or EZ could walk in. You pushed his hands away, but he wasnât deterred. Especially because his slight touch had caused your nipples to harden.
âIâve seen the way youâve been looking at me, mama. You ainât slick.â A sinful smirk made its way onto his lips, letting you know just how obvious your leering had been.
âWell,â You started, attempting to defend yourself. âYou shouldnât have worn that hat.â You finished lamely.
Angel laughed, amused by your apparent suffering. He stood, towering over you as he held your hand in his.
âCome on,â He urged as he pulled you up and out of your chair.
âWhere?â
âThe bathroom.â He whispered as he pressed against you, your stomach making it difficult to do so the further along you got.
âYouâre crazy.â You laughed, feeling his hands settle on your ass as he buried his face into your neck. âAnd thatâs how we got this one. In case you forgot.â
âNah, this happened after that party at the clubhouse. The one where I fucked you against the wall. Remember that?â He rasped into your flesh, his words almost making you come undone right there.
âWe are not fucking in your fatherâs house.â You managed to say, fingers wanting desperately to thread into his hair. The beanie he wore prevented that. So you settled for pulling at the strands at the base of his neck instead.
âCome on...you look good, mi dulce. I just want a taste.â He pushed his pelvis into you, letting you feel the hardening muscle beneath his jeans. The action made an almost imperceptible whimper fall from your lips. But Angel caught it, his mouth attacking your neck with kisses.
âHey, hey! You guys trying to make another baby before the first one gets here?â EZ asked incredulously, his voice cutting through the moment like a knife.
Embarrassed, you stepped back, attempting to put some space in between you and Angel. But he wasnât having it. Youâd noticed the further along you got into your pregnancy, the more insatiable he became. It was a never ending cycle between the two of you. One of you, if not both, were constantly horny.
You hid your smile in Angelâs arm as he encircled you from behind, his hands once again finding your stomach.
âCanât blame us for trying.â Angel quipped, ignoring the elbow you shoved into his ribs.
âWhenâs the food gonna be done? Iâm starving.â You whined, your hormones quickly shifting from one craving to another.
âSit down. Iâll make you a plate.â Angel said, pulling the chair at the dining table back out.
You did as he said, thanking EZ when he placed a ginger ale next to you. Your stomach was still sensitive to certain foods, so everyone had taken to keeping ginger ale on tap for you.
Felipe made his way in, patting your shoulder and placing a quick kiss to your head as he passed. You watched as all three men worked together to get the turkey in order while also piling your plate with food.
In holidays past, youâd been the one managing the kitchen and various foods. But this year, Angel has been adamant that you let them handle it. So you had.
The Reyes men were making it their mission to spoil you. Each in their own unique ways. And you loved them more for it. Your daughter was going to have all three of them wrapped around her fingers.
Lord help them.
Overprotective, Much? - Bill Hader x Reader
Theme: Fluff + Angst
Warnings: Sexual Terms, LanguageÂ
Summary: You and Bill have been secretly dating for two years now, only to complicate things one night when you partake in a very risque sketch unbeknownst to him?
Word Count: 2.8k
A/N: Ahhh Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! This was a request sent in by @berkmansbabeâ I really hope you enjoy it! And it somehow fits what you were asking for! Have a good rest of your year everyone, hopefully 2021 is better?Â
It was nearly four in the morning the last time that you checked, and you were almost half asleep over your laptop. Squinting one eye open, you gazed around the room to find a selection of your coworkers staring at you with little smirks.
"You're drooling, Y/N," one voice calls out; it had to be Mulaney's.
"Okay, you didn't have to tell her that!" another one chimes out, Jost?
Furiously you wipe the drool that was currently dangling from your chin and give the two the meanest glare that you could possibly muster.
At four in the morning, Tuesday's were the worst. Okay, well, technically, it's Wednesday now.
Mulaney only smirked before sliding a post-it note your way. You grimace, reading the details of the message scrawled out in what appeared to be Jost's messy script.
P. G. A. D, weekend update, orgasms onstage.
You practically gape at the note in awe; you were a writer, weren't you the one who was supposed to write this shit? Not perform it.
"Um, I'm not complaining, but isn't this more up Kristen's alley?" you protest, trying not to sound whiny.
"She's on vacation this week, and honestly we think you'd be perfect for it." Jost says matter of factly, giving you a small smile.
"Fine," you sigh before flopping back onto the table to get some more sleep. Earning another chuckle from the boys.
-
It ate at you all week, but I mean, you had the potential. If anyone would understand your feelings, it'd be Hader. His anxiety always got the best of him, and it hurt you to still see the man so stressed and uncomfortable.
Often, you'd be the one to find him after a sketch, rubbing soothing circles into his back. While he stares off rigidly into the curtain, he was fantastic at his job; it just didn't sit well with his anxiety. Although you knew it followed him home, into the late hours of the night, disappointment settling in.
It wasn't public, but the two of you had managed to make things work for the past two years. You had met Bill back when he had first arrived at 30 Rock, as you had gotten hired the same year Mulaney did.
Seth, who was practically your best friend at this point, could tell within an instant that you harbored a small crush for Hader. Often picking at you with little side comments that'd make you stammer and feel your body heat up in embarrassment.
For some time, you didn't even realize that Bill had reciprocated your feelings until he asked you on a date. The two of you curled up back at his place while he showed you some of his favorite movies, it was nice, and the rest was history.
The only problem was, it was safer not letting the rest of the group know about this advancement. God knows what they would do to Bill onstage with sketches...you didn't wanna know.
Alongside the fact that the two of you had quite a bit of an age gap, it wasn't that big, but you knew that Bill often internalized the seven-year gap between the two of you. You were only twenty when you had started at 30 Rock while Bill was twenty-seven. You loved him nonetheless, but you could tell it made him stress a little.
So you both kept it a secret, although you were pretty sure that Meyers and Mulaney knew at this point. While Jost continued to remain oblivious towards your little endeavor.
For this sketch in particular, maybe it was best to keep this one secret as well. Rarely did you ever perform on the show, and you wanted Bill to be proud.
-
Seth, who had been motivating you all week, motioned you into his office early Thursday morning.
"Okay, just spoke to Lorne about this, we're gonna fit you into one more sketch due to Kristen's absence." you nod apprehensively. Â
"It's the easiest thing ever, all you have to do is sit there with Franco, and Hader, and read the cue cards about environmental issues. Keenan will cut you off, and you should be good." Seth explains before giving you a quick thumbs-up, causing you to smile slightly.
"God I am so nervous, is that normal?" you admit as Seth sits back into his seat.
"Oh my god yeah, it is not always easy going up onstage like that, but trust me you have the talent and potential. Lorne hired you for a reason, I'm sure if you brought this up to Bill he could give you a few tips on how to release stress." Seth replied as he gave you a warm smile.
You nodded, thanked him for the advice, and began heading back towards the writer's room to help the rest cut the left-over sketches that you all had mulled over during that week. Only to run straight into someone, their hands instantly going out to hold your shoulders steady.Â
"Oh I'm so sorry I didn't even see where I was going!" you yelp, only to look up and see Bill trying to hold in a laugh. Only causing you to laugh slightly as well at the situation the two of you were in.Â
"You okay?" he asks sweetly after taking in your somewhat frazzled state; without a second thought, you shook your head and went into his arms.
"I'm just stressed," you murmured into his chest as he quickly reciprocated the hug and wrapped his arms tightly around your waist.Â
"About what?" he replied softly, his hold growing just a little bit stronger, that is until the two of you heard nearby footsteps and quickly broke away.Â
A random production assistant walks past while you and Bill clear your throats awkwardly.Â
"Uhm, I am actually going on a sketch this week, you're gonna be in the same one actually. It's with Keenan, I just barely ever go on, since I am a writer, you know?" you exhale softly, only to look back up to Bill. Who is nodding furiously in agreement.
"Oh my god, I mean, you know me," he stops to chuckle, "Y/N, I am a literal mess, I mean don't act like I am totally oblivious to you and John changing the cue cards before Stefon sketches." Bill exclaims as you find yourself beginning to smile.
"I mean, it's really cute seeing you break babe," he fake gasps. "I mean you just make it look so easy sometimes even when I know you're stressing out." Bill sighs slightly before meeting your gaze.
"It's not easy, it never is. It's just you learn how to cope over time, if you want I'll meet you at the end of the sketch. Does that sound okay? Just like you always do for me, which I can never thank you enough for." he says, grinning as you slowly nod in agreement.Â
Giving you a quick peck on the forehead, he explains he has to go back to his costume fittings and that he'll see you later in the night.Â
He always knew how to help.Â
-
You watched anxiously while Seth said the cue that would lead you on stage. Letting yourself take a deep breath, you allowed yourself to block out the situation's overwhelmingness.
 Also, was it always this hot up here?Â
With the cue cards coming into focus, you delved into the script, finding yourself ease into it over time. It was comforting to hear the audience laugh at your delivery, often seeing Seth trying to hold back a grin.Â
Especially upon the time, you began to describe what made your character Tamara Parks go into orgasms from her specific condition, of Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder.Â
"With the help of my physician I was able to find treatment, and today I can say that I am fully-" you let out a moan, trying not to break as you look down. Only to continue on the moaning and the appearance of discomfort as the script goes on. Seth progressively tries not to laugh as well. Â
It almost was shocking that you were pretending to be aroused on live national television. Still, clearly, you were doing something right given the reactions that had been intended.Â
You began to find yourself grateful for the ability to look down and away from the audience to compose yourself against the fake orgasms you were portraying. Seth's hand leaning to rest upon your shoulder, setting your character's orgasms off even more until the sketch was nearing its finish. The crowd applauded as Seth called you offstage.Â
-
You had let out a breath that you didn't even know that you had been holding the minute you had left the stage. Clearly, you had done the job just as Meyers and Mulaney had anticipated, the crowd going wild, it felt nice, but you also felt like you needed a nap. Many of your coworkers had come up to congratulate you, but all you wanted was just to see Bill.
 Except, Bill and Fred were going up to another sketch for Weekend Update, you had asked a production assistant for some water as you took a seat in a nearby corner. It wasn't long before you had spotted Mulaney from out of the corner of your eye, within seconds; his eyes met yours, and he rather awkwardly stumbled over.
You had to stifle your laughter at how ridiculous he appeared in that moment, his rather tall figure colliding with the floor as he slid down beside you.Â
"You did fantastic out there! See, I knew you could do it!" he whispered enthusiastically while nudging you playfully in the side.
The two of you commented on the show's progress and or which sketch that you had written was your favorite. Until your stage manager had motioned for you to go on for your second sketch of the night. John gave you a reassuring smile before giving you a little push off into the side wing you were supposed to enter on.Â
-
The sketch was going well, that is until you felt an intense stare out of your peripheral vision coming from Bill, who was sitting beside you. Instead, it felt more dominant and tense than comfortable and safe as his thigh began to press up against yours. You gulped slightly before Keenan made his way over to you, feeling Bill's thigh against yours, almost making you lose control.Â
The skit's premise was that Keenan's character would never let the guests speak, which was probably a good thing as soon as the cameras went off of you; you had to stifle a moan of your own, a real one.Â
You were flustered beyond belief, and you couldn't tell why for the life of you that Bill was screwing with you on live television, but he was, and it was working. Of course, you appreciated the man's dominance but now was clearly not the time, except all you could feel was the heat pooling at the pit of your stomach.Â
While you were slightly annoyed with him, something about that leather jacket he was wearing was really turning you on. Or the way he did all of this was genuine ease like he wasn't putting you in complete arousal right now was so intimidatingly hot.Â
The crowd's cheering almost caught you off-guard as you realized the sketch was over, and Bill and Franco were getting up to leave the stage. You almost had to steady yourself as your legs felt wobbly and out of place, but you managed to maneuver yourself off the stage with as much grace as you could possibly muster.Â
It didn't take long for you to feel Bill's hand slip under yours and tug you along to a back room, his taller figure looming over yours with a side of him that you had never seen before. His lips practically hovering over yours as you inhaled deeply and ultimately tried to compose yourself only to stammer your words a little bit.
"Um, heh, what did you do that for?" you murmured quietly so that only he could hear you.
"You really think I would let you get away so quickly with that sketch, I simply had to remind you that you're mine babe, mine." he growled as he leaned down close to your height, whispering the words in your ear.Â
Your breath hitching at the contact, goosebumps spreading directly across your skin, and your heart skipping a beat. Except, you were in public, for crying out loud; why couldn't he have waited to save this for the bedroom later tonight?
"I-um, Bill did you forget that this is sorta a live show?" you retort back, stepping away from his slight hold. It finally hits you all at once, "Wait, Bill, are you jealous of my sketch with Seth?" you quickly ask, his eyes widening before quickly denying it.
"What? No of course not since when do I get jealous Y/N?" he says defensively, only to see you start to form a small grin.
"Oh my god you totally are!" you practically yelp, his eyes staring daggers at you.
"Hader, quick change happening for Daveheart in four minutes!" Bobby calls as he walks past the two of you unbeknownst to the little debacle going on.Â
Bill's eyes darting between yours and the dressing room, you sigh and motion for him to go-on for how you would somehow resolve this later. After the door closes behind him, you allow yourself to slide down against the wall once again, trying to compose yourself after everything that had just happened.
-
It doesn't take long for him to find you, this time in a Scottish get-up, you were assuming, and still painfully as ever, you still couldn't help but think that he looked hot, even with his long brown wig.Â
He sits down beside you, looking at you with a hesitant look in his eyes.Â
"Okay, so maybe I am jealous okay?" he admits quietly, completely catching you off guard. "It's just sometimes I wish we didn't have to have this weird age gap, or have to worry about judgement from others or the press. I guess, just seeing you like that today, it just really made me jealous. Proud of course, I mean babe you killed it out there, I didn't even notice that you were anxious. It's just hearing you moan like that, god that was so hot, the things you do to me." he says, no longer making eye contact as he goes into his little tangent.Â
God, you loved him.Â
You sigh before wrapping your hands around his, before slowly pushing forward to envelop him in a kiss. He hesitates for a split second before going in at once, his hands reaching up to cup your face deepening the kiss.
It was like a breath of fresh air whenever the two of you had kissed, whether in the late nights after shows and you can see the sunrise. Or in walks home from work, fingers entwined, and quick glances before sneaking a quick kiss, or even just whenever Bill can spare one.Â
The two of you pull away, only to catch your breath for a second. Bill's wig now tousled, and his eyes staring at you with admiration that you couldn't help but melt under.Â
"You know Bill, I wouldn't change a thing about us. I love you just the way that you are." you say softly, sneaking in a little kiss before pulling away to finish your statement, a small pout grazing his lips.Â
"Just maybe not during a live sketch, please?" you giggle softly, his eyes never leaving yours.Â
"Hey, Y/N, I just wanted to say that you killed it out there-woah, what's going on here?" Seth calls out, startling the two of you; you moving to jump away before Bill quickly stops you.
"We're dating!" you blurt out randomly, "we have been for the past two years, and its time that we probably tell others about it."
 You clamp your mouth shut, ignoring Bill's jaw-dropping, and focusing on Seth entirely.
"Oh my god I knew it! Mulaney get your ass over here, we've been right this entire time! Hader and Y/L/N have been boning for two years." Seth yells over to John, who was busy cleaning up the cue cards as the show was coming to an end for the night.Â
You practically groan, digging your head into Hader's chest in pure embarrassment as Mulaney comes bounding over to cheerfully laugh at your combined misery.
"And to think that Jost said that we were lying about the two of them, guys come on we're gonna go tell Colin!" Seth exclaims, beckoning for the two of you to follow to the writer's room down the hall.Â
"Might as well join them," Bill whines as he pulls you off the ground and drags you along after them.Â
succumb (1/?)
Note: "?" because I don't know if I'm actually going to continue this. All I know is that I saw this post from Liccy and couldn't stop thinking about it (hopefully you don't mind me leeching a little off of your fantastic hc). I just had to write something or else I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about it. Unless I decide to make more of this, I'll keep this just in Tumblr for now.
Summary: While collecting firewood after a harsh day of traveling, Wild and Hyrule find themselves ambushed and alone, facing a mysterious enemy that wants Hyrule for something Wild doesn't understand... or more specifically: they want Hyrule's blood.
Tws and warnings in tags
-o-o-o-o-
Itâs a night filled with the chill of air fresh after rain. The damp grass and twigs lining the ground below the still dripping trees squish below Wildâs boots as he walks, his eyes sharp for anything that could be useful.
Todayâs been a rather taxing day on his energy, and he can tell itâs been the same with the others. The constant rain has caused the paths to become slick with mud and the rivers too dangerous to cross. To top it all off, they donât even know whoâs world they are in; making it so that as they journey they donât even know where they are going.
Wild hates the rain.
But luckily, heâs not assigned with the behemoth task of finding dry firewood alone. Hyrule walks beside him, his pants and tunic blotched with dark colors thanks to the puddle he had fallen into a few minutes before.
The quite literal stumbles here and there put aside⊠theyâve actually done a decent job at gathering firewood so far. A few hours into their search they both have arms cradling rather hefty loads of dry twigs and branches found in miracle spots hiding under rocks and undergrowth, untouched from the rain.
A cold win stirs, causing Wild to suppress a shiver as he straightens out of picking up another stick to add to his impressive collection. He probably should have worn a warmer tunic while heading out, but Wind was looking miserable in the cold and didnât look used to this kind of chill, so he had lent his snowquill tunic and didnât have the heart to take it back as the poor kid sat sniffling in the driest part of camp.
Wild mentally begins to make a list of things he has that could go in a warming soup once they have a fire going. If none of them have colds tomorrow morning, he will eat Legendâs hat.
âWe should head back,â Wild calls towards his companion. Behind him, Hyrule straightens up from where he was quite hilariously resembling an old man squatting down to pick up a book they have dropped. His arms are overloaded with wood, and Wildâs sure if he bends any lower he would be struggling to pick up the sticks he will undoubtedly start dropping.
âYou think we have enough?â Hyrule asks.
Wild hums and looks at the two armfuls they have gathered. They need enough to last them for dinner and through the night, and a little extra if the fire happens to go out from unpredictable rain storms through the night. Itâs not like Wildâs scars would be able to help him tell the oncoming storms; theyâve been none-stop aching since they found themselves in this unfamiliar forest.
After a moment of sizing up their bundles, Wild nods. âYeah, if weâre smart with it we shouldnât have to worry.â
Hyrule snorts. âSmart with it? Tell that to the blacksmith. Heâs the one that tried to light Vetâs hair on fire.â
âIn his defense, Vet kinda deserved it.â
âHe accidentally caught Wolfieâs tail on fire.â
Wild snorts. âTo be fair, he kinda deserved it too.â
Hyrule gives an unimpressed look to which Wild responds with a grin and as much of a shrug he can manage without dropping anything. The wind brushes past them and through the leaves in the trees, reminding them both that the night is approaching and banter can perhaps wait until theyâre warm at a fire.
âCâmon,â Wild says, âwe should get going.â
Hyruleâs face splits into a grin and rushes to catch up with Wild as he begins to walk back towards the direction of camp. The sound of mud squelching beneath their boots accompanies his thoughts as they go. He hopes theyâve set up the pots and pans he needs to make dinner like he asked them to. Heâd like to get something warm in his belly as soon as possible and it would be so much quicker if the others realized they could maybe help make dinner sometimes.
Heâs in the middle of planning out his next moves once theyâre back with the others when it happens. Itâs achingly familiar tooâthe way the air seems to turn foul and the shadows of the trees grow within the blink of an eye. Through his travels alone⊠before he fought and defeated Calamity Ganon⊠things were hardly ever perfectly okay. Safety was always rare, and things could go sour quicker than what you would expect. Wild quickly trained himself to always be aware of the dangers around him, even if everything seemed happy and safe. It saved his back more times than what he could admit, even if the pressure of anxiety pressing down on his ribs was more constant than a place for him to spend the night.
He could sense everything about to go wrong a moment before it does. Heâs not sure whatâs made him aware of the changeâwhether itâs the quieting of crows or the darkening skyâbut one thing is for sure, this time heâs not quick enough to stop it.
He sees Hyrule twitch besides him and drop all of the firewood in his arms right into the mud. His hands fly to his neck as Wild drops his load and pulls out his sword. He hears a zip and catches the flash of light just in time to jump out of the way of a flying arrow.
Immediately, Wild is in battle mode. With practiced movements that he doesnât even think about anymore, his shield is off of his back and on his non-dominant hand just-in-the-nick-of-time to block two more arrows with an equal number of thunks. With rising adrenaline, Wild looks over at Hyrule and what he sees makes his stomach twist. There, just a few strides out of arm's reach, Hyrule stumbles and tugs his hands away from his neck; grasped in his fingers is a small, thin twig with a feather on one end and a metal glint on the other. It isnât hard to guess whatâs exactly going on as Hyrule stumbles again with fluttering eyelids.
This isnât any old attack from monsters in the forest, Wild concludes as he begins to rush towards his poisoned friend.
This is an ambush.
Just before Wild can reach Hyrule, a form jumps down from the trees between them. Wild has a split-second to recognize the glint of misshapen armor bent to fit a large reptile's body before the Lizalfols is swinging a sharp boomerang right for his throat. Wild steps back and raises his shield before he could be hit, however he has to work hard to suppress a frustrated snarl as heâs forced to widen the distance between himself and the barely standing Hyrule. He can see the other hero struggling to pull out his sword as more figures emerge from the surrounding trees.
âAlright, ugly,â Wild hisses under his breath as he shoves his shield out with calculated power. He needs to finish this quickly before Hyrule gets himself more hurt so he can figure out what poison was used and if the others are okay.
The Lizalfos screeches and stumbles back, waving its weapon wildly. Wild takes its struggle to regain balance as an opportunity to rush forward and swing his sword right for the weak spots of its armor. The monster screams impossibly high with unhuman chords before falling limp on his sword, however Wild doesnât have time to celebrate before claws dig into his shoulders. Stifling a cry of pain, Wild is forced to let go of his lodged sword to catch his fall on his hands and knees. The well-known shriek of a bokoblin reaches his ears as he throws his weight to the side to dislodge the thing. Luckily, heâs successful, ending up on his back with the perfect position to swing his shield at the exact right moment to hit the bokoblin right in the snout as it tries to jump at him again.
âChamp!â calls a shaky voice. Hyrule.
He doesnât sound too good.
And judging how there are several more monsters here than what he remembered before ending up on the ground⊠neither of them will be too good soon if he doesnât act.
He scrambles to his feet, barely noticing how soaked in rain and mud he is now, and grabs a stick on his way up that he had previously dropped. He swings it like a bat at the next closest bokoblinâmourning his sword and mentally kicking himself for getting it stuck in the corpse of a fucking lizardâbut he only manages to slightly stun it for a moment before its running after him with pig-like gurgles quicker than what he can properly lift his shield. However, before the creature can hit him, there's the flash of a friendly blade, cutting the beast down mid-air. Before him stands Hyrule, looking very pale with beads of sweat trailing down from his hairline. Wildâs about to nod his thanks, but two things happen at once that makes everything go completely downhill.
Wild sees Hyruleâs eyes roll up to his skull right before the air is knocked out of him via a viscous swing of a tail to his ankles, resulting in him landing heavily on his back.
Monsters all around him squeal with glee as Wild attempts to catch his breath and struggle to his feet. However, before he can do so, the heavy body of the lizalfos responsible for taking him down lands on his back, expelling any of the air Wild had left in his lungs. For a horrifying second, Wildâs almost afraid his head is about to be removed from his body with the flash of a sharp boomerang.
Shockingly enough, that doesnât happen. While he feels the blade slide right against his jaw, his skin does not break. With the tug of a clawed hand in his hair, he quickly finds this isnât a kind of ambush that heâs used to. Most surprise monster attacks stay exactly as it appears to be: an all-out attack with no more intentions than to stab things and scream loudly.
This one however is proving itself to be a little different. They want something, something that theyâd keep Wild pinned on the ground with a blade to his throat alive.
Thanks to the hand holding his head up by his hairâsending a rather vicious kink into his neck as heâs still stuck on his stomachâWild can see Hyrule completely collapsed on the ground with a few monsters hovering over him with excited snorts and grunt.
He canât believe the two of them have been bested by monsters as low in skill as these.
Something more has to be going on.
And, just as that thought crosses his mind, thereâs the sound of booted feet approaching on the soggy ground. The new presence comes behind from where Wild is pinned, so he cannot see them. However, based on the even steps and the whoosh of cloth, he can at least infer that theyâre not a monster⊠or at least something a bit more humanoid.
His suspicions are confirmed once the figure steps into view. They look the build of a Hylian; though below the cloak that covers their face and exposes nothing but the shadow of a pointed chin⊠they must be a rather tall Hylian.
Which definitely isnât good. Monsters are one thingâcreatures born out of hatred and greedâbut a Hylian whoâs born as pure as any other human and animal in the world choosing to work with monsters? Deal with wickedness? Theyâre always the bigger threat. If the Yiga clan alone isnât proof enough that Hyliaâs creations can inhibit more darkness than the lowest of beasts, then Wild would ask what shrine you've been sleeping in.
Not like he could ask that now, not as the cloaked figure steps right past Wild without sparing a single glance. Wild cannot help but feel his stomach twist in fear as the person kneels down by the unmoving and unarmed Hyrule. They place a pale hand on Hyruleâs forehead, making Wildâs skin crawl.
âGet away from him!â Wild snarls, digging his fingers into the mud and attempting to push the heavy lizalfos off from him, but all that does is cause the creature to hiss and tighten the blade.
The cloaked intruder doesnât respond nor quit in their endeavors of getting too close to Hyrule for Wildâs comfort. In fact, Wild almost thinks they didnât even hear him.
Heâs about to shout out once againâangry with being ignoredâbut the breath leaving his lungs fall silent as the figure brushes back Hyruleâs hair with a verbal sigh. Then, to Wildâs horror, the figure pulls back to their cloak to bring out a small vial filled with a deep purple liquid.
âWhat is that?â Wild demands as the lid of the vial is popped off and lowered towards Hyruleâs pale lips. âDonât you fucking dare-â suddenly the air is squeezed from his body, forcing his protests to cease, as the lizalfos leans more of itâs weight onto his back to press his face down into the mud.
He doesnât see what happens next, but he can put two and two together when a few silent moments pass before those human footsteps begin to finally head Wildâs way. The clawed hand in his hair loosens ever so slightly as slim fingers slip under his chin. Next thing Wild knows, heâs blinking through dripping eyelashes at the shadowed face of the cloaked figure.
Wild, of course, takes the opportunity to spit a wad of mud at the face of his enemy thanks to his little face-meets-dirt session.
Heâs pretty sure he hits his mark, because in a blink of an eye Wild is no longer pinned on the ground, but lifted into the air by his neck. His feet scramble for purchase when there is none as his hands fly to his throat. The pressure on his neck is so intense that he doesnât think to try and look at the face of his attacker. He can only gulp for trapped air like a fish out of water. Then, just like that, the pressure on his throat is released as he finds himself thrown back into the waiting arms of various monsters. Before Wild can attempt to find his bearings, his wrists are twisted violently behind his back; the motion almost yanks his limbs from their sockets. After a few gasps, it's all Wild can do to stand there with their physical restraints of clawed hands and send a cold glare at the cloaked figure.
The cloaked figure radiates irritation from where they stand, but Wild spares only a moment to bare his teeth at them before glancing back to where he'd last seen Hyrule.
He canât see Hyruleâs face, but heâs no longer laying prone on the floor. Heâs currently sat up with his chin limply touching his chest as a pair of monsters work together to bind his wrists behind his back.
Knowing that villains donât usually restrain corpses, Wild concludes that Hyrule is still alive and returns his anger at the cloaked figure.
Wild takes a deep breath and speaks through hissing teeth, âwho are you?â
âI would watch your tongue, hero,â the figure says, their voice not distinct enough to be dubbed male or female. However, Wild can practically feel the annoyance in their tone traveling down his spine. âWe donât need both of you, and your small friend is not the expendable one.â
The words settle in Wildâs gut like moss covered stones. This really isnât any normal attack or ambush⊠this was a targeted mission.
Hyrule is the target.
âWhat do you want with him?â
The figure chuckles, their shoulders bounce in such an undeniably human way that it makes Wild feel sick to his core. âIt never fails to amuse me that none of you seem to truly understand just how much more powerful and important this one is compared to the rest of you.â The cloaked figure walks towards Wild with arms spread wide. âHis blood alone is more powerful than any form of magic known to any sorcerer.â
âWhat are you talking about?â Wild spits, forcing his face to remain cold and angry despite the pool of confusion and fear thatâs beginning to swell around those moss stones in his gut.
The figure hums and tilts their covered head. After another moment, they speak with an amused tone, walking slowly towards Wild. âThat slate on your belt... youâre the hero from the far future, oh how convenient. Tell me, have you ever wondered why the monsters come back to life?â
Wild doesnât get a chance to answer before the figure stops right in front of him. He hates that even though he cannot see their face, he can practically taste the smug victory radiating off from them.
âDonât you wonder why the moon shines red with blood?â
Wild swallows. âWhat does that have to do with anything?â He looks over where Hyrule is placed. âWhat does that have to do with him?â
The figure chuckles and leans forward close enough that Wild can almost see an outline of a pointed nose. âEverything.â
Then, with a flick of their hand, something hard smacks against the back of Wildâs skull. The world spins and pain shoots through his head and into every speck of his body. He blinks, and suddenly heâs leaning bonelessly into the grasps of the monsters behind him, the corners of his vision going black.
The last thing he sees is the figure turning back towards Hyrule with a flick of their cloak.
Then, his eyes fall shut and he knows no more.
all for us [the wilds girls]
the wilds girls x platonic fem reader
requested:Â I love your imagines a lot, youâre an amazing writer! I had a promt where maybe the reader is the youngest of all the girls and basically the younger sister they all never had and they all care and love for her very much (maybe short flashbacks with moments of her and the girls) and once their quarantine is over they realize sheâs missing and it turns out she got internal injury or something else quite angsty and the girls do everything they can for her
*not my gif*
âSo tell me about Y/N Y/L/N.â Agent Young says.
âY/N Y/L/N?â Leah asks and Agent Young nods, âWhere do I even begin?âÂ
You were the youngest of the group. Not too much younger than them, but still younger. And just like regular siblings being the youngest had its perks and downfalls.
For one, you could never go anywhere alone. Even to pee, the girls would not let you out of their sight.Â
But, you got away with almost everything. The girls couldnât stay mad at you for too long, not even Toni could stay mad at you. And she could literally stay mad at anyone until the day she died.Â
âIâm taking you and her were close?â Agent Fader asks.
âYeah, she was close to pretty much everyone. Sheâs like a little bean we all wanted to protect. You just wanted to squish her cheeks ever time you see her.âÂ
âLeah? What are you doing up here?â you ask her, plopping down onto the sand further away from everyone.Â
She shakes her head staring out at the sun that was just beginning to set, âJust reading the notes he left me...again. I know Iâm pathetic.âÂ
âI wasnât gonna say that.â you reply and she looks at you wide-eyed.
âYou werenât?âÂ
You shake your head, smiling at her a little bit, âYou were in love. Iâve never been in love before, but when youâre in love youâre in love. And he dumped you which wasnât cool. I donât support your relationship with him, but itâs only natural to be heartbroken over it.âÂ
âYouâre wise for your age.â she says, ruffling your hair.
âIf I ever meet Jeffery, Iâm gonna kick his ass.â you warn her, looking at her dead in the eye.
âYou probably can, if Iâm being honest.â Leah states and she lets out a small laugh.Â
Yes, mission accomplished.
You nod with your fists up, pretending to block, âHit him with that one, two, punch. Pow. Pow pow pow!â you mimic, punching the air in front of you.
Your fake fighting causes her to laugh a little louder and harder. So you decided to take it up a notch, get her distracted a little more.
You get up from where you were standing. And lift one leg up, like Daniel did in Karate Kid, âFinish him!â you yell, making your voice a little deeper.Â
Kicking your feet up in the air, however you donât stick the landing. You fall onto your back letting out a small groan and the sudden hit. Leah starts laughing uncontrollably, releasing a little snort.
That small snort causes you to start laughing along with her. Jeffery long forgotten.Â
âWe heard from Leah that Y/N was close with everyone. Is this true?â Fader asks.Â
âOh yeah 100%.â Rachel says with a nod, âIt was like having yet another younger sister to take care of. Or well...them taking care of me.âÂ
âYou think you can beat me in a swim race.â Rachel asks, staring at you like youâve just grown two horns.
You hum in response, âYep!âÂ
âFine youâre on! From this point to those rocks.â she says, pointing at the rock figures in the middle of the ocean.
âWho you got?â Dot asks, Toni.
Toni looks at her with a small smirk on her face, âIâm gonna bet on the underdog this round. I got my Diet Coke on Squirt here!â Toni gestures to you, using your annoying nickname that the girls named you after.Â
They gave you the nickname after the turtle from Finding Nemo. You pretended to hate it, but you secretly loved your embarrassing nickname.
âYouâre on!â Dot says, shaking her hand.
âOn your mark, get set...GO!â Martha yells sitting along next to Marcus.
The two of you take off swimming. You start off a little slow at first trying to maintain your energy, but Rachel was the opposite. She was using everything in her power to get their as fast as she could.
When she finally started slowing down, thatâs when you pushed on the gas. Moving your arms and legs in a perfect motion. Slowly, but surely you started passing her just as you made it to the rocks.
âHell yeah!â Toni yells.
Dot groans before throwing Toni a Diet Coke.Â
âHow the hell did you do that?â Rachel asks you, out of breath as the two of you sat on the rocks.
âHonestly, no idea.â you say with a laugh and she rolls her eyes.
âRace you back!â she yells, jumping into the ocean.
âCheater!â you yell before diving in after her.Â
Dot was slurping down her milkshake. While the two agents waited for her to stop drinking.Â
âCan I have another one of these?â Dot asks and Fader nods with a laugh.Â
âWho do you think you wanted to protect most on the island?â Young asks after Dot finishes her ten course meal.
âY/N, hands down. I think that would be every girls answer.â Dot explains, plopping another fry into her mouth.
All of you girls were relaxing on the beach. After two days of scavenging the jungle for any sorts of food and firewood. This was the first day all of you could just relax.
âI just came up with the best idea!â you exclaim.Â
It was just you and Dot. The rest of the girls were scattered all over the beach, doing their own thing.
âWhat is it?â she asks as your eyes had that mischievous glint to them, âOh no. I know that look!âÂ
âWeâre already stranded on a deserted island, what if we pretended we were on an episode of Naked and Afraid?!â you say, excitedly.
She releases on of her famous hearty laughs, âYou want all of us to strip down naked? You really think the girls would be up for it?âÂ
You nod your head, multiple times, âI bet at least 6/9 of the girls here have at least imagined one of us naked.âÂ
Dot raises her eyebrows at you, âAre you one of those 6?âÂ
âNo comment...â you state.
After much convincing, you got the girls to have a pretend episode of Naked and Afraid. Everyone was stripping down of their clothes, looking at each other, trying to stifle a laugh.Â
The air was awkward, yet comfortable at the same time. The only awkward part was standing there unsure of what to do next.Â
âY/N, you have a cute butt!â Fatin exclaims, giving you a high five.
Toni sidles up next to her to get a look, âAwe it looks like a little peach.âÂ
You throw your face in your hands, shaking your head as a chorus full of awâs fill the air.Â
Toni sat there with her arms crossed over her chest, not wanting to talk about anything to these phonies.Â
âSo weâve been asking the girls their opinions on everyone else, weâre gonna go one by one on the list and youâll say one word to describe them.â Fader says and Toni just nods.
âLeah Rilke?âÂ
âOver-thinker.â Toni replies.
âRachel Reid?âÂ
âDriven.âÂ
âDot Campbell?âÂ
âResourceful.âÂ
âShelby Goodkind?âÂ
There was a moment of silence, trying to find the right words to say, âComplex.âÂ
âMartha Blackburn?âÂ
âSister.âÂ
âY/N Y/L/N?âÂ
Toni laughs to herself softly, âSquirt.âÂ
You and Toni were out in the shallow waters of the ocean. Dot sent you and Toni on an experiment to see if watch she saw on TV actually works. Where you stand out in the water and catch a fish with your bare hands.
The two of you didnât quite know the logistics on how it works, but you volunteered anyway. You were standing out, not too far away from the shore just reaching down trying to grab a fish to eat.
Each time you tried you came out short, âYou look like an idiot right now.â Toni says, laughing at you flailing your arms in and out of the water.
âShut up!â you say, splashing her with water.Â
âYou guys arenât doing it right?!â Nora yells from the shore, âYou need to stay still and patient so the fish will come to you.âÂ
âWe literally picked the worst people for this job.â Shelby says and you and Toni flip her off from where you were standing, âYou guys literally can not stay still for the life of you. And donât even get me started on patience.â
âThatâs rude!â you yell at her, âGod can hear you! Youâre supposed to be nice!âÂ
âIâm also supposed to be honest!â Shelby shoot back and you mock her actions, before she gives you the bird herself.
âHey thatâs not allowed!â Toni yells at her girlfriend.Â
You start laughing with Toni, pushing her slightly. She pushes you back playfully, before it turns in to a full on battle to see who can get the other to fall first. But Toni being Toni decided to just tackle you.Â
âAhhhhhh!â you say letting out a little screen, âSomethingâs touching me!âÂ
âPick it up! It could be a fish!â Toni exclaims.
You pick up the creature and yell a little louder when it bites you, tossing it in the process, âIt bit me!!âÂ
âY/N, itâs a baby turtle!â Toni exclaims, âYou were scared of a baby turtle!âÂ
âShut the fuck up.â you joke with her, but give her a serious look.Â
Toni picks up the turtle examining the cute little guy. She looks at the turtles face and then back at you doing a double take.Â
âIt kinda looks like you.â she says, before letting it go back into the ocean.
âFuck you.â you tease, tackling back into the ocean.
âWe really picked the worst people.â Shelby says to Nora.
Both of them shaking their heads in disappointment.
âThoughts on Y/N Y/L/N?â
âOh intern for being the baddest bitch out there.â Fatin says with a smile on her face.
âIntern for who?â Fader asks.
âMe of course.âÂ
Nora and Rachel were currently fighting to the death. Neither you, Leah, or Martha knew what to do.
âY/N come over here!â Fatin says, gesturing for you to go where she was standing, âTake this bottle of lube!âÂ
You catch the bottle of the lube she tossed you. And you raised your eyebrow up at her.Â
âJust follow my lead.â she brings her toothbrush up to her mouth, âNora has Rachel pinned on the ground.â she mocks an announcer you would hear on ESPN.
âBut Rachel is not giving up too easily folks!â you go along with your guysâ bit, âI donât know about you Fatin, but I have never seen a girl fight this interesting in my life!âÂ
âAgreed, usually itâs just a bunch of-HOLY SHIT that was a knee to the tit ladies and gentlemen!â she yells out.Â
âIs Rachel out for the count?!â you add on watching the fight unfold in front of you.Â
Itâs probably not the best time to make jokes, but you all need to let loose once in awhile.
âWait...sheâs getting up!â Fatin yells.
âOh my gosh sheâs not...OUCH! That was knee to the twat!â you yell wincing at the pain that was just brought upon Nora.
âY/N, how do you feel about this fight?â Fatin asks.
You shake your head, âI donât know you have two amazing fighters going head to head for the very first time. We have Rachel, olympic diver, very strong and very determined. But then we have the underdog of the hour Nora who is small and scrawny, but sheâs packing quite a punch. It could be anyoneâs game.âÂ
âYouâre absolutely right Y/N! But Rachel now as Nora pinned to the ground and she canât seem to get up! This fight might be over everyone!!âÂ
âHey there.â Shelby says, sitting down at the metal table.Â
âHello Shelby, can we get you anything?â the two men ask and she just sit back in her seat, shaking her head.
Fader nods, âWell letâs get started, shall we?âÂ
The three of them have a long conversation before Shelby ultimately decides to stop the interview all together.Â
âWait just one question!â Fader exclaims as Shelby stands up, âHow do you feel about Y/N?âÂ
At the sound of your name Shelby freezes in her spot, âMy favorite person on the island.â fear and worry start to fill her body at why the sudden question about you, âIs she okay??âÂ
You were trekking in the jungle looking for some source of food. All of you ate all the food when the rescue plane was coming, but itâs not coming anytime soon so here you were.
Shelby, Toni, and Martha said they were gonna go out looking, but none of them were to be found. So you decided to go on a little expedition to find them. You heard rustling coming from the tree up ahead, so you decided to follow the noise.
Only to see Toni and Shelby basically naked under a lychee tree, âOh my god!!!â you yell, covering your eyes with your hand.
âAHHH!â the two girls scream, but you couldnât see what they were doing.
You turned around facing towards the direction you came from, âSorry sorry. I was just looking for you guys and food. I uh I didnât mean to.â you say, shaking your head.
âJesus Y/N you scared us!â Shelby yells and you can hear rustling.Â
Hopefully, they were putting their clothes back on.Â
âDamn it I was getting laid!â Toni says jokingly and you could hear a smack hit her arm.
âLeave our daughter alone!â Shelby jokes and you laugh softly.
âCan I turn back around now?â you ask meekly.
âYes.â the two girls say and you release a sigh and turn around to face the two girls.
You look at their flush faces, âYou guys couldnât have gone a little farther away?â you ask, âThanks to you Iâm more traumatized than I already was.â you joke.Â
âOh câmon you know you liked it.â Toni nudges your shoulder as the two of you walk back to the camp.
Your face flushes as you put your head in your hands, âStop corrupting her!â Shelby yells at her.Â
âLet me see her!â Shelby yells at the two men.
âWe canât let you do that. You girls aren't allowed to see each other yet. Not for awhile.â Agent Young says.
âCan you at least tell me if sheâs okay?â she asks, looking at the two men with her eyebrows raised.
âSheâs fine.âÂ
That didnât relieve the feeling in Shelbyâs chest that something could possibly be wrong. But she couldnât do anything, even if we tried.
The girls didnât know how long they were quarantined. It felt like months and it probably was a couple months. They finally let all of the girls hang out together in the small courtyard.
All of them hugging one another, super glad to see each other. Knowing that everyoneâs okay. Well...everyone who made it.
âY/N? Whereâs Y/N?â Leah asks, looking at all the other girls.
âShe was okay when we left. She should be here.â Dot adds on.Â
Shelby face was flushed with worry, âThey wouldnât let me see her when I asked about her. I asked if she was okay, but they said she was fine.âÂ
Fader was standing there with a guilty look on his face. Toniâs blood was boiling at the look on his face. She runs up to him, pushing him against the wall, holding onto him by the collar.Â
âWhere the fuck is she?!â she yells.
Which causes Agent Young to burst into the room, âWhatâs going on here?âÂ
âWhere is Y/N?!â Toni yells again, but at the other man.
Agent Young locks eyes with Fade and he subtly nods, âSheâs in the infirmary. Her heart was in bad condition, so she needed open heart surgery. The surgeons are working on her right now.âÂ
âYou told me she was fine when I was being interrogated.â Shelby says in between gritted teeth, âDid you lie?âÂ
The two men donât answer. They just stare anywhere, but at the other girls. The silence spoke louder than any words did. Fatin scoffs at the menâs actions.
âThatâs why you wanted to know huh?â Leah asks, her imagination running wild, âYou wanted to know about her because you were wondering if she was worth saving. Isnât that right?âÂ
Neither of the men decided to speak again.
âLet us see her.â Rachel says, staring at them intensely.
âWe canât do that. Sheâs in surgery right now.â Young says.
Toni pushes Fader up against the wall yet again, âYouâre gonna let us see her when sheâs out. No excuses. No bullshit. Youâre gonna let us see our friend.â Toni threatens.
The girls sat in the waiting room of the infirmary. Leah paced back and forth chewing on her fingernail. Toni was trying to console a worried Shelby. While Dot, Rachel, and Fatin sat in the seats waiting impatiently.
Agent Young filled the girls in on your condition. You had a heart disease before you came onto the island. And your parents gave you a little trip to help because of the depressive state you were in. Little did they know you would be trapped on an island with none of the medication that was needed to help you survive.
All of the rigorous activity brought your heart to a weaker state than ever before. When the girls got saved, you were already experiencing symptoms of heart failure. And you were put under immediate watch when you reached the facility. You were getting better, but then your heart gave out and you needed to get an artery reconstructed.
âWe already lost too much.â Fatin whispers in the tense silence of the waiting room.Â
âNora, Martha...â Rachel draws out.
âWe canât lose Y/N.â Toni adds.Â
âThe girl who loved the most has a heart condition. How ironic is that?â Dot asks.
âIâm scared guys.â Leah whispers.
âSheâs strong, sheâll pull through.â Shelby says, trying to boost their hope, but sheâs losing faith herself.
After God knows how long the doctor finally came out. All of the girls looking up at her. Tears brimming all of their eyes, scared for the answer they were about to get.
âSheâs okay. We managed to repair it without too much trouble. You guys can see her now.â the doctor says and everyone lets out this huge breath.
A smile breaks out on Fatinâs face as tears spill from her face. The six girls walk into your hospital room where you were laying peacefully. Your eyes somewhat open, you had a soft smile on your face as you stared at the girls.
âHey guys!â you exclaim, as excited as you can.
Dot lets out a small sniffle, âYou scared us, asshole!âÂ
âWhy didnât you tell us about your condition?â Fatin asks, tears still streaming down her face.
You shrug, âWe already were going through too much. I didnât want to worry everyone more or get treated any differently. Rachel, if I told you about my heart would you have raced me?âÂ
She shakes her head, âNo.âÂ
âExactly.âÂ
Rachel, Dot, and Fatin take a seat on the foot of the rock-hard hospital bed. You scooted over so Leah could cuddle in next to you. While Shelby and Toni pulled up a chair right by your side.
Leah rests her head on your shoulder, âWe thought we were gonna lose you Squirt.â Toni says, ruffling your hair.Â
Shelby was still crying, looking at you full of worry. You look at the blonde beauty who was now bald, but she still looked beautiful.
âCome here.â you whisper to her. You scoot over closer to her Leah, making room for her.
She sits next to you, crying into your chest, âHey. Iâm okay Shelby.â you look at all of the other girls who still had worry on their face, âIâm okay guys. Weâre all okay.â
But the girls donât look convinced.
âListen to my heart Shelby, itâs still beating. Just focus on that okay?â you tell her and she nods. Even Leah could hear your heart beating from here.Â
âYouâre really okay?â Shelby asks and you nod.
âIâm okay. I promise.â you say, giving each of the girls a look, They all nod with small smiles, âNow how the hell do we get out of here?â you whisper.
And each of you give each other a small smirk, âTime for the Great Escape.âÂ
Wings in the Dark Chapter 10:Â Reparations
AN: Yaaaaaayyyyy I got this one done. For some reason Iâve been in a weird spot where I write more on my phone and my focus is better when I write on my phone, but Iâm also super vulnerable to typos because AUTOCORRECT and its just harder for me to spot on the smaller screen with the tiny text, so excuse any typos.
Characters:Â Levi, Fem!Vampire!Reader, Erwin, Petra, Oluo (Mentioned), Eld (Mentioned)
*Leviâs POV*
âIâll admit, it would have been nice to know ahead of time that you were going to hijack the interrogation like that to antagonize her.â
Levi ignored the pointed jab at his actions down in the dungeons, gaze instead roaming around and taking stock of the people they past in a surveillance instinct too ingrained into his being by now for him to shut it off even going down the street towards a tea shop.
Considering L/N could hear so far out, even when she wasnât paying attention, Erwin and Levi had decided to leave headquarters entirely to have this conversation. Which was why they were now headed for a tea shop instead of Erwinâs office to discuss something so confidential. Or at least their opinions on the situation, not necessarily the information itself.
"Did you at least get what you wanted out of it?" Erwin asked as they took seats at one of the outside tables.
"I did. Mostly. You?"
"I was skeptical when you told me, but after that little display of hers, she's clearly not human. Not anymore." Erwin leaned back in his seat and appraised Levi, their conversation pausing momentarily as they placed their order with the waitress that came outside to check on them. Once she went back inside, Erwin continued. "If you have more questions, why didn't you ask them before we left?"
"It had nothing to do with why we were there. Personal curiosity. And it didn't seem like the time to ask."
Especially after he'd goaded her like that, making jabs at painful memories for her until she reacted, throwing harsh accusations at her semi-blindly and seeing if anything stuck. The last thing she would want to do would be to give clarifying details about her past traumas to satiate his curiosity.
Her tale made her origins make more sense, but there were a few details that still weren't so clear to him.
The way she explained it, she was attacked and turned by a vampire the night before--for reasons unknown, he noticed. She hadn't said why she was turned, or by who. She'd actually glossed over that part and moved on--and then went home, not knowing what happened to her, thinking she was sick. Her friend came to visit her, Y/N lost control, attacked and killed her, then fled. He was sure there were details to make the tale far more gruesome, but this was what he knew for sure without letting his imagination run wild.
But then she'd shown up dead a few days later as well. That was the part he was trying to figure out.
âSome deaths, okay, fine, I'll come back from it.â
So, she ran away after the initial panic, and then came back solely to fake her death so they wouldn't keep looking for her.
And by fake her death, she went for a...temporary death, something she would come back from.
But why go so far as to let herself be buried? It was a closed casket funeral, so she could have snuck out before they sealed the casket and no one would have known. Why wait?
He hadn't forgotten the fear and trauma in her eyes when she'd mentioned being buried alive was one of her deepest fears. And now the mental image in his mind of a woman clawing desperately at a coffin, screaming for help while no one could hear her had a face to go with it, the face of someone he knew, no less.
It was humanly impossible to break out of a grave and crawl your way out. But if you had vampire strength, and every time you suffocated from the lack of oxygen or the dirt crushing down on you and maybe even getting into your lungs...then it was possible. So long as you died a few times on the way up.
Shit...something like that had to do some damage to a person.
Not to mention what came after. Forty years living in the Underground, roughly. He'd only been down there a little over half the time she had. And he hadn't spent it like she had--skulking in the shadows killing people because what she was demanded she kill to survive no matter where she was, and she couldn't go above ground not because it was denied to her, but because if she did she would literally die. Yeah, he'd killed plenty of people in the Underground as well, but far less, and for a reason that was entirely different even if it could be worded the same. He killed in fights because the Underground was that dangerous, or he was protecting people he cared about. She had to actively hunt and kill people to...feed.
If she'd been in the Underground before he was even born...he wondered if they had ever crossed paths, and he just didn't remember.
Hell, with her criteria for who she hunted and killed, he was surprised she hadn't killed Kenny in all that time with him Underground.
Or maybe she had, after Kenny left. It wasn't like Levi would know. Though he was fairly certain the man had gone topside, which would mean out of her reach and away from her hunting grounds.
If only there was an alternative to her diet. Sheâd laid out why it couldnât be helped, and he understood that, they were good reasons. But still, if there was another way...
âYou're thinking about something rather hard over there, Levi,â Erwin commented, and Levi realized heâd been staring intently at the table and had even failed to notice that the waitress was in the process of delivering their tea. Erwin was also watching him, though his hands were still in motion, his analytical gaze fixated on Leviâs still form. Shaken out of his thoughts, Levi leaned back so he wasnât leaning forward intently anymore, picking up his teacup to start drinking before it got cold. Erwin waited until the waitress left to continue talking. âIs it something I should know about her? Another hunch, maybe? The last one was mostly right.â
Levi snorted softly at that. Mostly right his ass. Heâd been thinking murder and treason and assassinations, someone out to get them, someone seeking to harm people in the Scouts. Ulterior motives and selfishness, malice.
Maybe the murder hadnât been that far off, considering her body count, if he did the math right in his head. And maybe she had been hiding a secret. Perhaps she was dangerous, but so was Levi. It didnât mean she was an enemy.
âNo,â he said curtly, putting an end to Erwin thinking Levi might be holding out on him regarding his suspicions after how off theyâd both been about this situation. âLike I said, it doesn't have to do with whether or not she's trustworthy and if she should be in the Scouts. Just personal curiosity.â
âSo you believe her? About her intentions?â Erwin asked casually before taking a sip from his cup, eyes cast down as he spoke but flickering up to gauge Leviâs reaction once he finished speaking.
Levi eyed him because of the look on his face, but answered nonetheless. â...I do. She was sincere down there, some would say too honest. Most people try to hide the fact theyâve killed hundreds--thousands--of people, or that they could kill the people who didnât trust them without blinking an eye, but she was upfront about it. She didnât have to be. Sheâs dangerous, thatâs a reality no matter how you look at it, but sheâs attempting to channel that into helping instead of just causing damage.â Levi sighed, setting down his cup. âI assumed a lot about her intentions and where she came from, and it's going to bite me in the ass.â
And he was probably going to have to put some effort into making amends after all this--especially with how heâd antagonized her down there and clearly crossed a boundary. Several boundaries, actually. And now that the moment had passed, the guilt was starting to settle in. Heâd accused her about some harsh stuff, some of which she was sensitive about, given her reactions. She was the one who had to live with what she was, so he doubted someone going after the very things you might cling to in order to retain your humanity was something anyone would take kindly to. After she saved his life--even if it had also been her that had almost killed him to begin with--after she protected him from herself and other vampires, even if he wasnât aware, after sheâd gone out of her way to learn from and appease the entire squad, after going through years of training to get where she was now, after putting so much at risk when she could have stayed safely in the shadows, after trying so hard to find a place topside, heâd jabbed at pretty much everything. Her basic motives, her humanity, her intentions, her personality, everything.
He had a lot of damage control to do moving forward if they were going to keep working together. He sincerely hoped heâd only damaged the well and hadnât poisoned the water. A damaged well he could fix, but a poisoned water supplyâŠ
Leviâs gaze narrowed at Erwin as he realized the other man still hadnât said anything, his suspicions solidifying.
âWhat about you? Do you think sheâs a risk youâre willing to take?â Levi asked, echoing her words from down in the dungeon Levi had immediately known would catch Erwinâs attention.
âI am a man who likes a good gamble,â Erwin said with a bittersweet smile, resting his cheek on his fist as he considered the situation before them. âAs long as sheâs not attacking other Scouts, sheâs trying to keep her bloodlust under control, sheâs not causing problems for or bringing more danger upon the Scouts...I donât see why we shouldnât let her stay. From the sounds of it, having a vampire willingly join our ranks wanting to use all those abilities to help our cause is a once in a lifetime chance. Sheâs offering it on a silver platter. As long as she can keep herself under control, which sheâs been able to do so far, I say we take her up on her offer.â
âAnd if she canât? If something happens and she loses control?â Levi asked, eyebrows raised. Sheâd said it herself, she was a threat, there was always a chance something could happen, and that shouldnât be forgotten. But what would they do if she did slip up with no sign of being able to correct herself before it got out of hand?
âThen sheâll be our responsibility to take care of,â Erwin said evenly, gazing at Levi in a way that made him believe Levi would be the one to take care of her if she stepped out of line. He had the best chance, yes, but it would still be risky. âHopefully we wonât have to kill her if anything goes wrong, sheâs valuable, and it would be a huge setback to lose her vampire abilities...but if it ever comes to thatâŠâ
âIt wonât be a problem,â Levi said flatly. He meant that in the matter of conflict of interest, not that killing her if it ever came to that wouldnât be difficult.
Erwin nodded. âShe stays in the Scouts, then. Iâll have to factor in all this new information about where best to put her. She probably shouldnât be anywhere near medical, for her sanityâs sake. And Levi?â Levi fixed him with a stare as if to ask what the hell was up with his change of tone, which Erwin ignored. âConsidering the strangling tension between the two of you down in the dungeon, are you going to ease up now that you have the story--for the most part--or do I need to switch her to a different squad?â
Levi scoffed. âIâm not going to apologize for being angry about the fact that she kills people, Erwin.â
âIt's not like she has much of a choice, from the sound of it. And sheâs doing rather well, given her situation. A lot of thought had to have gone into coming topside and joining the Scouts, how to pull it off. She was ready with those questions, and considering she wasnât planning on us figuring out what she was, that means she already went over those questions herself. Sheâs going with what she believes to be the best route, and considering sheâs more of an expert on the subject than weâll probably ever beâŠâ
Levi waved him off--he didnât need this explanation, he already knew this. She wasnât going to prey on innocent people, she couldnât afford to downgrade her diet too much considering she needed to be in peak health and control fighting in the Scouts, and she couldnât just stop unless she wanted to die a slow and agonizing death.
Starvation over decades, maybe even centuriesâŠ
Regular starvation was bad enough, he knew that from personal experience. He couldnât imagine going out like that--he wouldnât wish that on anyone. Especially self-inflicted.
Leviâs gaze wandered to the few people in the street, moving idly from one person to the next, not really paying them any attention beyond basic people watching as he brought himself to his decision.
While he understood her position, that didnât mean he was entirely comfortable with it. But was he willing to try and make this work, to keep her on his squad--this time as his decision, not a decision Erwin made in the name of surveillance--and see if things could still work out despite the mess this entire ordeal had turned into that almost ended in his death.
Was it a damaged well, or poisoned water?
Was he going to cut his losses, or try to fix this?
â...Donât put her on another squad,â he finally told Erwin. âSheâll still have her skills put to the best use with my Squad. Iâll figure out how to deal with...everything.â
He was going to try and make this work, despite the current friction between them.
The only question now, was how?
Erwin was the one to tell L/N that she was staying in the Scouts, of course, and by extension he was also the one to tell her she'd remain on Levi's squad, and that it was Levi's job to keep an eye on her and make sure she stayed in line. As for Levi, it was back to business as usual while Erwin handled speaking with L/N.
And two days later, Levi abruptly decided that everyone was going to do a deep clean of HQ, assigning everyone at least one room, with L/N having two considering how fast and how well she cleaned, and himself having three so that he had plenty of time to think while he was cleaning.
Now that his concerns about betrayal and deceit had been assuaged, he could finally allow the softer sides of her heâd glimpsed to settle in his mind, too. Between the darker side he now had a better picture of and the person heâd been seeing since she joined the Scouts, he could finally form a more complete picture of the new person on his squad and start to decide what he thought of her.
Any lingering concepts in his mind that she wasnât up to the job went out the window--except for a general concern about her being around too much blood. She hadnât been in the middle of a truly hairy expedition with people dying left and right. Sheâd been struggling when he was bleeding out in front of her--what would it be like when there were people dying bloody all around her?
Then again, sheâd already pointed out that his blood was particularly alluring.
That was still an odd thing to think about--he was probably going to do his best not to think about it.
He wasnât too worried about her being able to hand the more...psychological stresses of being a Scout. If she could handle being directly responsible for death, and being around it so much after living in and hunting in the Underground, she might fare better than most in the environment.
If it hadn't been the sharper, harder edge he'd seen to her personality in the dungeon, the knowledge of the things she'd already seen and been through, he'd be worried she had too soft of a temperament and personality for the Scouts. It had been what he'd seen from her before the whole vampire thing came out.
She was the woman who went out of her way to comfort the horses and make sure they knew they could trust her. Who sat in the field with the horses and simply soaked in the sun's rays while drawing whatever she could see--namely horses, at least once the man who had been watching her, yet she never said a word. She was the woman with a tea garden in a hidden corner of the Scoutâs headquarters so that she could save more of her salary...and use it to shelter and provide for the parents who didn't know, and would probably never know, they're daughter was still alive.  The woman who snuck treats out to the horses from her own plate, who'd gotten at least half of Leviâs squad drinking their tea with a bit of white sage for health purposes--only Levi aware of just how much it was actually doing for them. The one who had asked for a different kind of lesson or tutoring from each squad member so they wouldnât feel like she was some air-headed newbie that thought she was better than everyone because she was put on a fast track to Leviâs squad fresh out of the cadets, so that they could feel like they were still teaching her something, that she was learning from them. She was the kind of person who made little gestures like covering him with her cloak when she saw him asleep at the table without a second thought, or timing a fresh cup of black tea almost perfectly to help keep him alert when despite his insomnia he would start to feel tired in the middle of the day, who'd risked the loss of a leg to make sure Eld wouldn't get hurt even after Levi killed the Titan, and who had saved his life even though, at the time, doing so was a great risk to her, because he could put a swift end to the life she'd been trying to build above ground.
She was a good person at heart. Complicated as hell, still dangerous and a risk, and she had her skeletons, her demons and dark secrets, her flaws...but still, a good person at heart.
Heâd been watching her closely long enough to pick up on all of that and then some, even if heâd tucked most of it away for later evaluation considering at the time he was worried it might be a front for some insidious ulterior motive.
And he had to do something to try and mend the relationship they had. They couldn't function as part of a squad with all this tension and friction, let alone as captain and subordinate, definitely not as a team. There had to be some level of trust if they were going to be working together in the future, and right now, there was pretty much none, mostly because of him. And he had to be the one to make a first step towards repairing the damage that he had inflicted so that they could start building at least the groundwork of a working trust in one another. They would need it when they went out in the field, because all that raw ability meant nothing if they couldnât function with each other.
Levi scrubbed harder at the stone floor, seeing his fingertips turn pale with the rest of his hands red from the hot soapy water and the pressure he was putting on the brush.
"Captain?"
Levi sighed, leaning back and putting the brush back into the water, turning and lowering the cloth over his face to look over at Petra standing in the doorway with a broom in hand.
"Oluo says he's done with his room, he's just waiting for your inspection," she informed him, though the look on her face was enough to tell him he'd be telling Oluo to do it all over again as soon as he saw it.
"I'll do it when I'm finished," Levi answered, raising the cloth over his face and pulling out the brush to start scrubbing again. "Tell him to make sure he's finished while he waits."
"Yes, Captain," Petra said with a small nod, turning to leave.
"Has L/N finished with her two rooms?" Levi asked before she could leave entirely, focused on a new spot of stone as he spoke instead of looking up at her.
"Yes, sir. She actually went outside, out front, to do some extra cleaning while she waited for you to be ready to inspect the rooms."
She was also really good at cleaning. She had to be, right? She'd lived below ground longer than he had, and her senses were extra sensitive. One bad smell must be torture for her, the dust probably setting off her sensitive nose with the slightest buildup, her sight probably making it easier to pick out grime, and her speed making her a faster cleaner than anyone here--when she didn't have to slow down because she was being watched by someone who didn't know what she was. No wonder she was so damn good at cleaning, why he hadn't found any flaws with it to date.
It almost felt like cheating to him, for some reason.
He pressed unnecessarily hard down on the brush again, feeling the bristles bend and strain slightly in the brush, his fingertips turning pale again.
"Tell her when she's finished with whatever she's doing right now to come up here," Levi told Petra, offering no more explanation as he continued scrubbing at the floor.
âYes, sir.â
Petra left after that, and Levi focused on the room around him--his third room, mind you, and he was almost done. His hands were red, a little raw, too, but it wasnât anything serious. He just kept getting lost in his thoughts while he was cleaning, and instead of calming down like he normally did when he cleaned, heâd tense up at those moments where he got lost in his thoughts. He was going over his attempt at a peace offering over and over again, well aware that he wasnât the best...people person, that communication on a social or emotional level was not his strong suit. But he was hoping the intention behind the gesture would be clear. She wasnât an idiot--she was smart. There was a decent chance sheâd be able to see what he was trying to do.
Hopefully.
Levi was just starting to finish up, finishing with a bit of polish on the metal in the room when L/N finally made her appearance, standing in the doorway with similar cleaning additions to her uniform as him, though she had an apron on that was currently tucked up and into her straps to keep any dirt from falling onto the floor while she walked.
She must have been doing some garden and yard work, then. Pulling weeds or something like that out front. At least she wasnât tracking dirt everywhere, from what he could see--and his eyes were scanning her and her surroundings carefully to make sure she wasnât about to ruin his hard work.
âYou wanted to see me, Captain?â she asked formerly, keeping her gaze fixed on him instead of letting it wander around the room at anything other than him.
That was a start, at least. Heâd be worried this entire rebuilding the bridge thing wouldnât work out well if she couldnât even look him in the eyes.
But the tension was still there, thick and uncomfortable, enough to put even him on edge. There was a distance in her posture, a different kind of guarded than when heâd been snooping around and watching her every move. Like she was hyper-aware of what he was going to think of her moving forward.
He was still coming to a decision about that one, honestly.
âYouâre going to start training with me,â Levi said with no lead up, causing her eyebrows to raise in surprise, opening her mouth like she was about to ask questions before she quickly closed it again, since he continued to talk as if her reaction didnât phase him in the slightest or give him any kind of pause. âYouâve got some things to work on before the next expedition. Two lessons a day, sparring and ODM gear. Make sure you make the time for it.â
âAh, Captain...Iâm not sure if I...shouldâŠâ she said hesitantly, caught between obeying what was close to a command from her Captain and a reluctance to take him up on the lessons because...what, was the tension that bad for her that she didnât think she could train with him? Did she not want to be anywhere near him any more than she already was? Did she think she would make him uncomfortable? Did she not like the thought of being alone with him?
That was a viable concern, actually.
Or maybe she just thought there wasnât anything he could teach her.
On the contrary--sheâd said herself that she was having trouble with the ODM gear. Sheâd said one of her risks was that she reacted too fast for the gear to keep up with her, sometimes. That was a problem, especially in a situation where one needed to rely on instincts--how could you rely on instincts while also trying to muffle them to lower to the level of the gear, or nearby people?
She needed help finding the middle ground, or at least training herself to instinctually pace herself so she didnât outpace the gear in an emergency. Like sheâd pointed out herself, that kind of mistake could be the difference between life and death, even for her.
As for the sparring...well, the only people here that came close to matching their skills was each other. Who else were they going to spar besides each other? Besides, it would be refreshing to have someone he could actually go all out on that would be a challenge for him. He was sure the same applied for her, now that she didnât have to hold back to keep her secret hidden.
If that had been the reason sheâd thrown the fight the first time theyâd sparred.
Plus, all that raw strength and speed meant nothing if she didnât know how to use it. He could still teach her things, show her some techniques she could use in a fight, that kind of thing.
Is offer to teach her was his way of offering an olive branch to her...and he didnât take too kindly to her starting to turn down the offer.
Levi narrowed his eyes slightly at her as she continued to cast about for a solid excuse to turn him down. Most people here would kill for one on one lessons from him--a fact he was well aware of. Yet here she was, proving just how out of the ordinary she was as she seemed to be beyond just the vampire thing, trying to weasel out of it. âWhat? Donât think you have anything to learn because youâre so naturally gifted?â he asked in a jab much softer than his accusations during their interrogation.
âNo, itâs justâŠâ she started to say with a frustrated sigh, looking over her shoulder like she was looking at someone, even though no one was there. âEldâs already giving me ODM gear lessonsâŠâ
Was that really it? He doubted it. Yes, Eld was teaching her a few things, Levi was aware, but it wasnât the same as what Levi was offering to teach her. And it wasnât a reason to turn him down in the first place. Just another excuse. Unless she was really worried about what the others would think if she got not only one daily private lesson with Levi, but two. As much as Levi was usually of the opinion âTo hell what other people think,â this one he could see where she was coming from if it was the case. Sheâd just gotten the others to warm up to her despite their grumbling and cold shoulders after the extremely green rookie got sped through all the tape and obstacles right into Leviâs Squad while they put in hard work and were hand picked by Levi after some time in the Scouts after displaying their own strengths and skills over a period of time. It must have looked like favoritism--and Levi giving her double private lessons wasnât going to help anything.
It didnât change the fact that she still needed them or could benefit from them. And that it was a way for them to start making amends...in a roundabout way.
âODM techniques. Special maneuvers: team and solo, correct?â Levi asked, mostly rhetorically, though she still nodded in confirmation. Levi moved over to the table he was keeping his cleaning supplies on, starting to pack up his things so he could leave to start doing inspections of everyoneâs designated rooms. âIâm not going to be teaching you what Eld is. You said you were having problems with reacting too fast for the gear, right?â
Levi spoke pointedly, giving her a sidelong glance so he could gauge her reaction and she could see he was serious about this--and that he didnât have any ulterior motives. She didnât protest again. She still looked a little uncomfortable, possibly because of the bump this could cause with the others once they found out, maybe because it meant the two of them were going to be spending more time with one another and they were going to have to get over this tension between them really quickly if they didnât want to end up at each otherâs throats trying to kill each other, but she didnât protest anymore.
âFour a.m. in the woods for hand to hand. Two hours before dinner on the training grounds for the ODM gear. Donât be late,â Levi told her, taking his supplies and leaving her behind in the room as his way of dismissing her.
Now to go yell at Oluo for not getting his cleaning job done properly, most likely.
no body, no crime. h.s
In which accidents happen, but Harry is madly in love, so he helps her.
Ps; itÂŽs heavily inspired by THAT Harry and Taylor theory and spotify playlist.
She was shaking. A few moments before he was screaming at her but not anymore, the atmosphere was now silent. The had been fighting, just as the previous night and the one before, but (Y/N) had had enough, which was what made her get ahold of the flower base and smash it to a hundred small pieces into her husbandâs head.
She saw the blood flow rapidly out of his headÂŽs wound, so she rushed to get her phone to call him.
Harry styles.
They first met at one of her husbandÂŽs companyÂŽs party, he was apparently a very very rich CEO who was interested in merging companies for mutual benefit. James, her husband, had told her to be extremely nice to him, which she had. But James obviously did not know Harry had fucked her brains out later that night in the restroom while he bragged about money investments to his colleagues.
He picked after a couple of seconds.
âHello, its Styles, Harry Styles.â
âHâ She whispered with a shaky tone of voice.
âDarling, everything alright? Its really lateâŠâ he said sounding worried.
âI have a big problem Harry.â
âHow big?â He asked with a hint of fun in his voice.
âLike JamesÂŽ body size big problem.â
âYour husband James?â
âYes Harry, my fucking husband James, who I just accidentally murdered. For fucks sake, can you just give me a hand, babe please.â
âOh, fuck you killed him?â
âIt was an accident, but can youâŠâ
âIÂŽm on my wayâ he has interrupting her.
 She poured herself a glass of Dom Perignon while she waited for him. Would it be better for them to get rid of the body by soaking it in acid? Or just cremate it in the garden? Or even make it look like an accident in which he had tripped?
The doorbell rang and before she realized, she was already opening the door.
âY/N heyâ he said with a smirk on this face.
âCome in, now!â âDid anybody see you?â
âNo, I parked a few houses back.â
âIâm so sorry to ask you this and you can leave if you want but I didnât have no one else to turn to and..â she had realized but she was now sobbing.
âNo no no, donât worry darling, everything will be fine, we just have to get rid of the evidence first.â
âWe could bury him, I know places.â
âOkey, letâs get James all wrapped up in your carpet and carry him to my car, no body, no crime.â
And so, they did just that.
âH, how many times have I told you to get your headlights fixed, you cant keep driving around with no headlight, its midnight!â she said as he pulled out of the driveway.
âAre you seriously telling me to fix my car, when we are carrying the body of you husband in the trunk?ââ Really?â He said looking at her, as he couldnât keep his wild eyes on the road.
She really was gorgeous, even now, with a bit of blood in her cheek. Maybe even more gorgeous now, that he knew James was no longer in her life, literally. Maybe now they could finally be together. He realized she was wearing the matching necklace he had given her a few months ago, when the affair had just started. Two paper airplanes, flying.
âYouÂŽve got a little bit of...â he said while gesturing her face.
âOh, you have a lot ofâŠâ she said while gesturing his t-shirt covered in blood.
âFuck, I should have chosen something a bit darker.â
âYes, you should have, like, a white t-shirt, really?.â She laughed.
âWell darling, I donât know whatâs better, its either your red lipstick or tight little skirt.â
âIf Iâm going to have to bury my husband might as well do it while looking hot.â
âHope you are wearing your best clothes, darlingâ
âWe are jet-set Bonnie and Clyde baby.â
They arrived at the woods, where they had planned on burying the body and leave as fast as possible.
âI think here is perfect, its not too deep into the woods but not to near the path.â
âGreat, so letâs start digging.â
 It took them more than six hours to finally finish the hole. They were exhausted. All this time had allowed her to think about the situation, making her sob for a second time.
âHey baby, just stop your crying, itâll be alright.â Harry said while hugging her.
âBut what if we get caught, what if somebody saw us carrying it andâŠâ
âBaby I know places we won't be found.â He said while running his fingers through her hair. âI know places we won't be found. Remember, I know places.â
âOkey, but just grab my hand and donât ever drop it.â She said as she intertwined their fingers and looked down at the mess they had done. To be honest, they had done a great job at hiding the body, using leaves to try to cover up the crime scene.
âWe gotta get away from here.â She said while picking up both shovels that they had brought.
 âThey say âNever trust a narcissistâ, but they love me.â She said as both walked towards the car, the sun had just started to come out. (Y/N) realized that Harry was looking at her.
 They arrived and got into the car as fast as possible, but (Y/N) felt as if she had just finished her daily morning hike, was she supposed to feel like this? when just a few hours ago she had murdered her husband in cold blood, and a couple of minutes ago she had finished burying him with her lover?
âI did something bad, then why's it feel so good?â She asked, looking at him. â I don't regret it one bit, 'cause he had it comingâ
âHoney, he was just an arrogant son of a bitch.â He said simply while looking at the road ahead, making her laugh.
âWe should run away H, just you and me, I swear to love you ever more.â
âMarry me (Y/N), this time Iâm ready to run.â He suddenly said.
âOf course, we have just covered up a crime H, of course I will marry you.â She looked at Harry.
âGod I adore you.â
âAre we out of the woods yet? Are we in the clear yet?â
âYes, my darling, we truly are in a getaway car.â
âGood.â She said while taking his hand in hers. âDid you know that nothing good starts in a getaway car.â
âWell, you just agreed to love me for ever and ever and guess what?â
âWhat?â
âWe are riding in a getaway car?â
âI canât even recognize myself right now Harry, lights up and they know who you are. Do you know who you are?â She asked him while looking at the rising sun.
âI donât know about us darling, but this certainly will be the night we wonât quite forget.â
Let me know what you guys think pls <3
Falling in love with Priest!Din and having some W I L E sex? Love uuuu
-đ
Sorry it took me forever to get to this but I have been trying to get a bit of inspo, but mark me down as struck by the writing gods lol. Also sorry if this isn't that wild, I can also write something filthier if you want.....
The week had felt like it was lasting at least a year and a half with how busy Din had been. Din had had to sit through several kids' first confessions, and while he had in the past always found it cute what children had confessed to doing, small things like stealing a cookie when their parents told them no, fighting with their siblings, lying to teachers, and such, this time though Din had to fight through the thoughts and memories of how you had sounded and how you had felt in that small room where there were children currently confessing to the smallest innocent of things. Then Din had had to go out and give out the Anointing of the Sick prayers paired with the Last Rites and Viaticum to a dying member of his small parish. At the families request he had stayed with them as the man passed away into sleep and then recited the Lord's Prayer and a Hail Mary to help the family in the coming days. By the end of the week the funeral was held in a small ceremony, to which Din gave a short eulogy on the man as well as read the man's favorite passage from the Bible as they lowered the man into the ground. By the time Sunday had come around he was so relieved and hopeful to see you in the pews he had almost forgot that there was a group of children who were getting their first communion this week. Mass had dragged on, Din tired and just wanting to see and be alone with you, but he knew his day was far from over. After mass had finished and as everyone filed out of the church, he slowly walked his way over to the baptismal and uncovered the small pool of holy water as the family of two newly birthed twins circled around him. With a smile to the mother and father he had made his way through the ceremony, taking absolute care to slow himself down and make sure he didn't rush through the ceremony. By the time he waved the last of the family out of the church he was exhausted and he mourned the thought of not being able to see or speak with you at all this last week or this Sunday.
Din sighed and rolled his neck, popping the joints there, before opening the door to his small sacristy, ready to just change and go home and breath for the first time this week. What he didn't expect was for you to be standing there looking through the small bookshelf containing his religious books. He could have cried at the sight of your angelic figure standing there, and even more so when you turned around and gave him a light, soft smile.
"My sweet angel, I did not expect or think I would be able to see you this week. I have missed you more than I can put into words," your gaze immediately softened at his words and you walked over looping your hands around his neck and giving him a slow and soft kiss. When you pulled away, you brushed your noses together and said, "You've had a long week, Din. I wanted to make sure you were fine...and help you if you needed anything."
Din immediately melted under you attentions and pressed his forehead to your own as he wrapped his own arms around your waist. As always when he was with you a little voice in the back of his head rang out about how blasphemous this was but he shoved it away quickly, too tired to deal with the moral dilemma at that moment. He leaned in and kissed your soft lips again and whispered, "I am fine, I promise you, sweet angel. Just tired from the long week I have had, and in need of something relaxing."
He felt you perk up slightly at the mention of relaxation, and he followed you as you slowly sat him on the old, worn two seat couch that had sat in the room for who knows how many years. Din slowly sat down on it when you pushed him to, even though he loathed to be parted from your calming embrace.
"If relaxation is what you need.....then maybe I.. I can help you with that?"
Din sat confused for a few seconds, only to watch as you slowly stripped out of your clothing and softly revealed your skin to him. Din's breathing trembled as he watched you unclasp your bra and slowly bend over to take your panties off. Then you were walking towards him, and he felt his mouth go dry from the absolute sight that was approaching him. He could never get enough of the sight of your bare body, it drove him insane each and every time he was allowed to see it in its complete glory.
When you finally stood in front of him he reached forward to touch you, only you softly knocked his hands away and said, "Please, let me take care of you father ," it was only then that Din really realized how much his slacks had gone tight.
He watched with baited breath as you slowly undressed him, hanging each item where it went in the small closet, each movement sinfully beautiful as your naked body moved. By the time you had pressed his black button down off his arms, he swore that he was ready to bust from anticipation alone. When you finally pulled his aching and flushed cock from his slacks he let out a long groan and felt himself throb just from the small touches.
"You know, I have missed you this week, father. I was so worried you were going to over work yourself with all the events happening, but you did so good and you deserve a nice reward and some relaxation."
Din's head shot up, not realizing he had thrown it back, when he felt your soft lips press to the top of his cock and your tongue dart out to lick the precum gathering there. Din couldn't stop the whimper that escaped his lips as you started running your tongue teasing all around his cock, never taking it into your mouth, only kissing and licking in any and every pattern you could think of. It didn't take Din long at all to get drunk on the pleasure and groan out a quiet, "Please...."
Then he felt you stand up and lower yourself onto his lap. Not quite sinking down on him yet, but close enough to grind your dripping lips against his cock, causing him to twitch more. He listened to your soft moans and whimpers as you used him for your own please, and he gripped your hips encouraging you to continue or to go faster. By the time you were panting from how sensitive the small brushes and grinds were making you, you got impatient and asked, "Are you ready," and before Din even had a chance to answer you were slamming him deep inside of you, immediately hitting that pleasurable spot deep inside of you, making you clench harder around him and moan into his ear.
Din swore he was in heaven with the amount of pleasure he was being thrown into in that moment, and he gripped your hips so hard he knew that his finger tips were going to bruised there for days.
"Move, my sweet and glorious angel, please have mercy on me and move."
And you did just that, immediately setting a sharp pace bouncing on top of him and moaning so perfectly, that if anyone were to past the church they may have thought it a whorehouse. You felt absolutely divine and Din could feel all of his stresses and tiredness just fade away as you continued clamped down on his aching cock.
After a few minutes of riding him, Din felt your hand snake into the hair on the back of his head and yank his head back. With his neck arched and open for you you leaned down and started leaving kisses and small nips, while picking up the pace to as fast as you could handle. Din could feel your orgasm approaching as you sped up and he used his grip on your hips to slam you down on his cock as hard as possible. When you came and squeezed him impossibly tight, he swore he had died and was seeing the pearly gates from the white hot pleasure that coursed through him.
Immediately he rolled you over on to the couch on all fours, before slamming his cock back into you. He pounded into your oversensitive cunt as hard and fast as possible chasing his own high, but also more than determined to feel your walls squeeze him tightly again. When he wrapped his body around your own and pressed two fingers to your swollen clit, it took you no time at all to feel a second orgasm approaching, and this one felt like it was going to be catastrophic. Before you could even warn Din, you felt him hit that spot inside of you perfectly and you all but screamed out as you literally gushed around his cock.
Feeling how tight you got and feeling you cum so hard you gushed and soaked his slacks, Din buried his face in your neck and buried himself balls deep, before emptying every last drop deep inside of you. He spent the next few second panting and collecting his bearings. He slowly kissed at your next, still dazed with pleasure and still buried inside of you, when he whispered out, his filter blurred from his high, "I love you so much, my sweet angel."
Loid opened the door.
âYouâre married!?â A female voice screeched.
Loid closed the door. Holding it closed as the person on the other side banged against it frantically.
âLoid?â Yorâs voice was high and concerned. Butter knife clenched in her hand. âWhoâs that?â
Anyaâs eyes went wide. Loid pressed his forehead against the door as it pounded.
âThat.â He lamented. âIs my sister.â
âStop yelling. The neighbors are staring.â He scolded when he finally opened the door.
She shoved past him. Taking in the apartment. Surveying their domain before her eyes settled on them.
She was all blue eyes and wild blond curls.
His sister.
Yorâs hand stayed tight around the butter knife. Half afraid she attack.
The hand not holding the knife was firmly clasped between both of Loidâs sisterâs. Blue eyes drilling into her as she opened her mouth â undoubtedly to comment on how quick it must have been or how she wasnât good enough or how she didnât approve- and said,
âYou deserve better.â
The door clicked closed behind Loid as he sighed. âOlivia âdonât.â He plead.
âNo you seriously do. I once listened to him wax poetic about bumblebees for eight hours straight and I once watched him dive into an empty swimming pool and-â
âYor, Anya, meet Olivia Stahl. Sheâs been working abroad the last few years. She was an intern I helped train during residency.â
âYou helped train me?â She turned on him. âIâm sorry which one of us drank that spiked cocktail just to prove a point about how strong his liver was? Because I specifically remember telling you not to drink it and then you downing it in one go because-â
He did not make eye contact with her. Eyes train well above her head as he continued on ignoring her. âI didnât realize sheâd come home. Lovely to see you again Olivia but I only made enough for three so youâll have to be going now-â
âAuntie!â Anya jumped out of her chair and hugged her leg. Halting his shoving her back out the door. âI missed you!â
There existed gratitude and irritation in equal measure in his heart. Gratitude that Anya had decided to play along with the situation. Irritation that her ploy would slow his removal of Olivia.
Olivia smacked his stomach with the back of her hand. âWell your daughter has decided Iâm staying so Iâm staying! Itâs fine Iâll just eat your portion.â She settled herself down in his seat with a smirk. Anya stared up at her expectantly. Olivia smacked her forehead and dug around her bag pulling out a small figurine. âSorry I didnât bring your official present Anya. I heard heâd tricked some poor woman into marrying him and I forgot your gift at home.â
Sheâll just pick something up later and pretend she got it abroad.
âBut maybe you can keep an eye on this little fellow for your Dad until then?â
It was a small figurine of a bumblebee. Incredibly lifelike. Its eyes tiny ordered hexagons. She frowned and shook her head.
He plucked it from her palm and set it on the counter. âA Bombus Fernaldae. Will you drop this joke? It was one time.â
âIt was not just one time! And the fact you could identify what kind of bee it is says plenty about how much you secretly like it.â She turned her focus to Yor. Ignoring Loidâs put upon sigh. âSo tell me how he managed to trick you into marrying him.â
âI- well I actually asked him?â
Her lips curled with revulsion as she stretched the word âWhy?â into an eight syllable groan.
Loid sat down with a new plate serving himself a new meal while Olivia ate the remains of his old one. âEden requires children who apply to have two married parents. She was helping us out.â
Youâre telling her that? I thought we were keeping it quiet.
âOh I gathered what you got out of it but I was asking what she got out of it.â
âShe doesnât owe you an explanation Olivia.â He scowled. Olivia yipped in pain drawing her legs up onto the chair.
âDonât kick me!â
âDonât interrogate my wife.â
âIs it blackmail? If you need me to get rid of him for you I can-â
âIâm not blackmailing her!â
The conversation rapidly dissolved into bickering. Full of stories and inside jokes that were thrown and discarded far too quickly to unravel.
Loid ran his hand through his hair for the fifth time in as many minutes. The floof levels rising higher and higher. His locks growing more and more bedraggled as they continued.
Anyaâs wide eyes snapped between the two of them like a riveting tennis match.
âActually,â She started, interrupting the flow of their verbal sparring. Loid froze mid stab of the steak on Oliviaâs plate. Suddenly remembering they werenât alone. âLoid helped me out. Being single at my age can attract the wrong kind of attention.â Screams of the people the secret police dragged away filled the space between words. âAnd my brother was worried. I was very lucky to meet Loid when I did.â
Olivia side eyed Loid. âLucky. Right.â She smiled brightly at Yor. âYou have a brother?â
Loid settled back into his chair, the impish grin falling away as the conversation drifted to calmer waters.
âWalk me out?â She requested after the last of the dishes were put away.
He nodded. Anyaâs eyes followed them out the door.
âAnya you have to finish this if you donât want to miss spy wars.â
Her focus turned back to the homework with a groan.
She offered a cigarettes to him.
âI quit.â
âFor your fake family up there?â
He shrugged. âWeâve both read the studies. Seemed as good a reason as any.â
She blew out a smoke cloud. âSure but itâs not like cancerâs going to get a chance to kill us.â
âWas there a point or did you just want to make my laundry more difficult?â
She hummed. âCanât it be both?â Elbowed him.
He settled against the brick wall with a sigh. âWhatâs the job?â
âGet a solid nightâs sleep? Howâs that for a mission.â
His head tapped against the wall. Eyes closed and face turned upward to the hazy sky. It did nothing to hide the lines of deep seated exhaustion. Â âThey send you to do a psych eval?â
âShould I?â
âIâm fine.â
âFine like Iâm just overworked but am actually fine or fine like youâd get your makeup perfect before going in for an eval?â
âMy makeup is always perfect. Yours however-â He tilted his head to peer down at her. Tossing a cheeky grin her way.
âIs impeccable.â
âJust like I taught you.â
âYou did not!â Shoving him. He bobbed to the side dramatically before returning to his position. âThey seem nice.â
âThey are.â His eyes found the carton in her hand longingly. He tore his eyes away. âBombus Fernaldae huh.â
âGoing to pull a cuckcoo bee on them when the mission is over?â
âThe mission comes first.â
âNot going to turn you in for wanting more asshole.â
His eyes dragged up to their window as she took a drag of the cigarette.
âWe canât be more than we are.â
âDid you just make a bee pun? Cause I will tell the entire department. Iâll report you for that. Assault on a coworker.â
âI rented a castle and they barely batted an eye. No one will believe you Nite Lite.â
âI have an actual title these days you know.â
âAnd I promise I will never use it.â He assured like that was the problem. Which it wasnât. He pat her head. She considered biting it off. âJust overworked. This has been. Good for me I think.â
âAside from the potential cleanup?â
âI try not to think about that.â
She snorted. âShe deserves better.â
âOf course.â
âDonât agree with me. It doesnât make you less of an asshole.â
âShe knows itâs fake. Itâs not like Iâm lying to her about that.â
âOh so she knows that. Great and Iâm sure your brat totally got the memo about how-â
âStop.â His voice heavy and dark. âI didnât design the mission.â
The smoke curled in the air. âYeah I know.â
Cold threaded its ways slowly into their jackets.
âDid she actually propose?â
âShe did. I was so shocked I fell flat on my face.â
âUgh! Donât tell me shit like that! Literally no one ever believes me when I tell them what a mess you are! Itâs Agony! Agony you hear me?â
âSo sorry my lying is more effective than your honesty.â He leaned over her. âItâs this handsome face of mine. People instinctively think Iâm put together.â
She gripped his smug face. Shoving it away as he pushed against her. âI will break your handsome face and then weâll see if anyone can put you back together!â
He laughed as she shoved him away. She stopped.
It sounded genuine.
It had been so long since sheâd heard him laugh like that. Not since his last partner had been â
Twilight cocked his head at her questioningly.
âShe still deserves better than you and your knockoff curries.â She told him one last time. Stamping out the cigarette butt with her shoe.
But it seems like she might be good for you.
Ducktales AU Concept Because My Brain Runs On Concepts I Canât Finish:
Dewey actually waits for the signal to start the boat and they actually leave for Cape Suzette without Donald finding out. He believes theyâre ready to be left alone for small periods at a time and while he is still hired on with Glomgold the obvious complications there happen and he simply just goes back to whatever he was doing, because Scrooge wasnât reinvigorated by the kids and never ended up going to Atlantis in the first place. Cut to the ambiguously set point of over a year later, and we get the return of Della from the moon, but to a drastically different world than the one she comes back to in the show. (For the sake of the au Iâm just gonna say the moon invasion doesnât happen cause the point of this is to focus on the characters and the imminent and impossible to stop moon threat would actually be impossible to stop in this au). Iâm just gonna go through the characters and where theyâd be at in this setting.
The first, and arguably one of the most affected is Scrooge: He never got back into adventuring due to the absence of the kids pushing him back into the business. He continues to be profitable and avoid Glomgoldâs attempts on his life but heâs generally less cheery and interested in the world than he is in the show. He cares about money and he only cares about money. Everything and everyone else are a second thought to him. Like she does in canon Della makes for McDuck Manor immediately upon return to earth only to find that the only one waiting for her is Scrooge. He opens the door to find her and his initial reaction is joy at seeing her but a secondary reaction he feels poking at the back of his mind is one of shame that this is the state heâs in for her to return to, particularly when she asks him where her kids are and he just tells her he doesnât know. Thereâs a look of betrayal in her eyes when she realizes that he just abandoned everyone and cut off every aspect of the life he used to have and she doesnât even try to hide it. Scrooge wants to offer to come with her to find them but something holds him back and he doesnât. She runs off to find them herself and despite everything he wants to the contrary Scrooge just goes to his office like he would any other day, knowing that the person heâs been missing for over ten years now is finally returned after he thought she was dead and here he is acting like nothing is different.
Launchpad is fun because he never has any reason for Scrooge to find out heâs a pilot. He tries to mention it to Scrooge occasionally, like we see in the first episode, but just like in that episode heâs always ignored. Not that Scrooge would have any adventures for Launchpad to take him to anyway. So Launchpad continues being nothing but Scroogeâs driver. And thatâs enough for him because heâs Launchpad you know? And he still looks up to Scrooge a lot, but heâs never given the opportunity to grow close to him, or anyone really. Fittingly enough for Launchpad, heâs just been living life on autopilot for a couple years, not really expecting anything to ever change.
Webby has two distinct directions you can go and I chose to go for the sadder one. She continues to be shut in the mansion. I choose to take her speech in the first episode about how she hasnât ever left literally and say that Beakley kept her there her entire life. The possible other direction I mentioned is one where she only grows more anxious and hopeful to see the outside world and sheâs basically just even Webbier than she already is. But thatâs less angsty and enjoyable for me to mess with so instead Iâm gonna go with she hit this wall at some point in the year or so between when she would have met HDL and when Della comes back from the moon. The weight of being alone starts to get to her and she starts to wonder if all her optimism and hopes are just a poor defense system put up to let her pretend sheâs gonna have a better future than the life sheâs got. She also makes continuous attempts to interact with Scrooge but the more he lets age settle in and distance himself from adventures the less she feels engaged with his existence. He starts to feel to her not like an idol or a model to live her life by but like a living, breathing symbol of how her hopes and positivity are shallow and baseless. Cause Scrooge McDuck was the only thing that kept her going for years and this is nothing like the hero she read about. But thatâs the thing. Sheâs only really read about him. As far as anything heroic goes. So she reaches the final breaking point of all of this and decides that Scrooge is a fake and leaves behind her signature bright, bubbly attitude on life. This is the state sheâs in when the story starts, to the point where a scene happens at some point after she gets drawn into the plot where sheâs been outside of the manor now and Dewey offers her a hamburger and she says it looks disgusting.
Lena never got the chance to become friends with Webby and get her route into McDuck Manor. But that also means she never got the chance to learn about being good from the literal goodest person in the universe. She isnât interested in doing the right thing and not hurting Scrooge or anything sheâs just following Magicaâs orders cause thatâs what sheâs being forced to do. But as part of the whole thing where she hasnât got an in route into the manor she also hasnât gotten any means of being successful in really any capacity in this endeavor. As a result Magica has... not. been kind to her. So while she isnât evil sheâs been living as magicaâs meat puppet with the witch constantly in her head tormenting her for her failures for months on end and she was already morally ambiguous to begin with. So sheâd take out Magica in a heartbeat if she could but thereâs nothing that says she wouldnât just explode afterwards.
Mark Beaks never had his B.U.D.D.Y. contested because Launchpad was never told about the self driving car and even if he had been he didnât have the standing with Scrooge to make a difference and he didnât have Dewey to help him make the declaration. As a result the product went up without any hitches. It was a massive success until BulbTech kicked in, turned evil, and suddenly it wasnât. Anyone who could afford a B.U.D.D.Y. was using one, and the results were catastrophic. Not even Beaks had enough good press and money to pay for all that. He narrowly avoided prison but he was never taken seriously or given any chances to build up a company again. He still lives his life stealing technology and messing with inventions as he always did but now he does it a lot more illegally, a lot more dangerously, and a lot less sanely. Most devastatingly though, he gets like, no good press. People wonât even be caught dead following his twitter. Heâs living his worst nightmare and heâs going to do whatever it takes to change that.
Gyro fires Fenton for leaking BulbTech on the internet and never looks back. He continues the work that Scrooge wants him to do and Fenton never drives him to push the envelope or do anything even close to what Gizmoduck becomes. He continues with his own dangerous projects and ideas but he does play it safe for some time. Heâs content to just be making stuff, and Scrooge is content to just have stuff made for him. But he also never really gets to unleash that, well, part of Gearloose where heâs got a gear loose and it seems like he might just snap and make something really wild any day now.
Fenton never had to become Gizmoduck that iconic first time, so he just. Didnât. The armor was left in its development phase as it was, and Fenton was never even considered to be the man in the suit when it reached testing. And it was only used for the menial tasks Gyro originally designed it for, as Fenton was the only one who had come up with the idea to use it for Gizmoduck at all, and heâs not there anymore, not that Gyro would listen to him anyway. Though it wasnât as if Scrooge was in any state of mind to be hiring any superheroes in the first place. So Fenton continues trying to find some way to make a difference in the world with his intelligence but it... never really pans out.
Drake gets the role in the Darkwing movie, as in canon, as Scrooge is still interested enough in money to listen to the proposition for the film and try it out. The visit Launchpad has with Jim goes as his visits always do, and the fact that Dewey isnât there to assist with Launchpad and attract Jimâs attention means Jim just gives up and leaves as soon as Launchpad faints, not even listening to what Drake is trying to tell him. So Jim never finds out about the movie until itâs already released, and Drake experiences no opposition in the filming, barely even remembering his one interaction with Launchpad at all. Scrooge cuts the budget for the finale but lets the movie go through anyway, despite his better judgement, mostly because he already spent the money. Itâs a commercial and critical disaster and Drakeâs acting career never gets off the ground, and he never has the inspiration to become Darkwing for real.
Donald continues to live just as we see him in the first episode, doing his best to support his kids while bouncing from job to job because he just canât hold one down for any length of time. Life is hard for him but itâs the same as heâs always known it for the past ten years so heâs used to it, and having the kids with him is always enough for him.
Huey continues to make a name for himself in the Junior Woodchucks (i.e. robotics champion four years running) but he never really gets the chance to light the fire under his curiosity and love of knowledge. He learns as much as he can but itâs only as much as heâs ever been told he can. He learns within the boundaries of school and the Junior Woodchucks and thatâs kind of enough for him because he never considers how much he could learn beyond the boundaries of how things have always worked.Â
Dewey is as desperate to be famous and appreciated as he always is, and Dewey DewNight is most certainly still a thing, but itâs even less viewed and interesting than it is in canon. Heâs not letting himself get disheartened but he looks at the way Donald lives on a boat and canât hold a job and wonders if thatâs what heâs gonna be someday. If despite all of his efforts and aspirations heâs going to end up falling at every turn and thereâll just be nothing he can dew about it. He doesnât let it weigh him down too much but heâd be lying if he said it didnât keep him up at night sometimes.
Louie is actually doing amazing. Heâs living his best life. Heâs lazy and scheme-y, still doing things like plotting that venture to Cape Suzette we see in that first episode, but he never has to wonder about his usefulness or place in the family, cause itâs just him, Dewey, and Huey, along with Donald. Donald is unemployed half the time, Huey is gonna be some big genius scientist guy sure, and maybe Deweyâs gonna get big someday but right now theyâre just kids, and thereâs absolutely nothing that makes Louie feel like thatâs not enough. He doesnât do as much here, thereâs not any schemes that will make him rich or any Louie Inc, but the seeds of those ideas are still in his soul somewhere, heâll find them when he needs them heâs pretty sure.
And thatâs all the characters that I can think of to get into off the top of my head. I really just did this for fun so I donât know if Iâll ever be doing anything else with it but these are all the ideas I got. Feel free to ask me about them or anything Iâm just havin fun with it.
Slumber Party (Part 1)
(Letâs have a little fun with our fluff shall we)
Ask anyone and theyâd tell you Eda was a powerful witch, a force to be reckoned with, and downright terrifying when sheâs mad. Someone like that could not be tamed, she was wild, she was free, she was wearing an apron and covered in flour.Â
Truly horrifying, and perhaps just a little on the unexpected side.
Now on the question of how she got into this predicament in the first place. It was simple really. Earlier that day Luz expressed that sheâs never had a slumber party, well there was the Moonlight Conjuring but she meant just a typical slumber party without any of that other stuff. And Eda, for some unknown reason that even she herself couldnât fathom, suggested that maybe it would be okay if Luz wanted to have one.Â
Cue the young girls squeals of excitement, a little extra dose of that parallel arm thing, and here she was. In the kitchen making cookies for her kid and a few other young witchlings. Why? Well because Luz wanted them of course. Just donât tell anyone for she still has some semblance of a reputation that she wants to maintain. But gosh darn it why was it so hard to say no to that kid or refuse her anything. Not only that but she was going out of her way to do things without even being asked.Â
It wasnât Luz who suggested the slumber party. And Luz didnât actually ask for the cookies nor was it said that she had to make them, she could have gone out and bought some after she overheard her kid mention them. Just what the heck was going on with her lately.
Before she could continue on that reputation shattering train of thought King came bounding into the kitchen and onto the counter. âAre those cookies I smell?âÂ
She had to smack his paw away after setting the tray down on the counter. âThese arenât for you theyâre for the kid, last I check you werenât one.âÂ
King glared at her as he stomped his little foot. âDemonâs can still enjoy cookies too. As king I demand you give me one!âÂ
Eda rolled her eyes at his antics âsure pipsqueak, keep pretending youâre in a position to make demands.â Her smile was smug but instead of the reaction she expected he looked away and asked for one, even going so far as to say please. And she just didnât have it in her to refuse, or at least not anymore, what was happening to her.Â
âAlright just one, the rest are for the kid- at least wait till they cool down!â But it was already too late, he had reached for one and ended up burning his paw which he proceeding to stuff in his mouth as he hopped from one foot to another.Â
She would have made more comments if it wasnât for Luz popping up right next to her, effectively startling the witch. âOooo cookies!â oblivious to Kingâs predicament the girl also decided to reach for one which Iâm sure you can imagine what followed. It took all the strength Eda had not to bang her head against something.Â
It could have been anyone, literally anyone, but these are the two she got stuck with.Â
While King continued to cry over most likely nothing, Luz composed herself much faster for she gave Eda a grateful smile. âDid you make these?âÂ
âYeah, I overheard how you said they were great for parties.â Eda crossed her arms and looked away during her reply. Itâs not like it was a big deal.Â
âThank you, Eda!â Oh no, here comes another one of those hugs. âYou know you like them, stop pretending you donâtâ Shut up brain!
âWillow, Gus, and Amity are going to love these!â The young girlâs enthusiasm was contagious as she helped to get the cookies onto a plate before taking them into the living room and setting them on the coffee table. Eda followed to find her living room decorated with pillows and blankets strewn about. On the couch was a huge bowl of popcorn and a few of Kingâs stuffed animals minions were already sitting there.Â
âLuz said they could partake too!â The little demon added cheerfully from behind her before climbing up on the couch to grab hold of his favorite minion, Francois. âTonight we shall make our plan to take over the Isles!â King held the stuffed rabbit over his head as he laughed evilly but quieted a bit when he felt someone petting him.Â
âNo world domination tonight, you little peach, just friends and fun!â His evil laughter turned to cute giggles as Luz picked him up to sit on the couch with him in her lap.Â
Eda hadnât realized how soft her expression became until a knock at the door broke her out of her trance. âSome guests have arrived, hoot hoot.â Hooty declared as the door opened on its own. âNo ****â was what she wanted to say but there were children present and also this story has a rating to keep.Â
She crossed the room to find Willow at the door standing between her two dads. âGood afternoon, miss Eda.â The young girl smiled warmly at her and Eda couldnât help smiling back before directing her attention towards the kids parents.Â
âThank you for allowing WIllow to stay over.â commented a dark skinned man with a rather bushy beard. For some reason Eda wanted to ask if he was able to hide things in it too but decided against that. âWillowâs been so excited, itâs not often she gets to do this.â Added the other nerd-looking one with the glasses.Â
âDads!â Willow cried out with more than just a hint of embarrassment.
âSorry sweetie, you know weâre just as happy as you are.â Seems Luz wasnât the only one who was missing out on a lot. Eda once again smiled at the witchling as she pointed behind her. âLuz is already waiting on the couch, if youâre not careful her and King might finish off all the snacks before you even have a chance to have any.â Well mostly King, Luz would be more preoccupied with being a good host.
The young witch giggled âThanks again, miss Eda!â She chirped before moving past the older woman to join Luz on the couch. Eda watched her go with a content expression on her face before turning back towards Willowâs dads. The one with the beard was already writing something on a piece of paper.Â
âIf you need anything, anything at all, feel free to scroll us.â Bushy beard handed her the paper while glasses continued talking. âShe has this medication she needs to take, sheâs usually very good at remembering but could you see that she does just in case?âÂ
âYou know what itâs like with kids, when theyâre having fun itâs easy to forget everything else.âÂ
For a moment she was taken rather aback with the situation she founded herself in but was quick to compose herself as she shot them a genuine look of understanding. âOf course I will, I promise sheâs safe under my roof.â She was simply saying what she would want to hear if it was her dropping Luz off at someoneâs house.Â
It seemed to be enough though for the smiles they shot at her were bright and warm. âThank you very much, despite your reputation you really are a good person like Willow said.â And just like that the world had to prove she still had heartstrings. How dare that kid spread lies about her.Â
After waving goodbye, Eda closed the door only for another knock to be heard what felt like seconds later. Since she was right there she opened it herself this time before Hooty could swing himself open and most likely hit her in the face. She wouldnât be able to guarantee safety under her roof if there wasnât a house anymore.Â
Gus stood with his reporter dad and waved rather excitedly at her. âHi Eda, are Luz and Willow here?â Before Luz she would have found him exhausting but the girl was way worse so she was numb to it now.
âNope, you just missed them.â She crossed her arms and gave him a toothy grin to which he responded by deflating just a bit. âOf course this would happen.âÂ
The older witch chuckled. âIâm just messing with you kid, go on in.â Eda moved aside to let him pass which he did, rather loudly. She wondered if she was actually gonna get sleep tonight. Then she realized she was allowing a bunch of kids to stay in her house for the night. So no, most likely not.
She heard someone clear her throat before realizing that oh yeah, Gusâ dad was still there. âThanks for letting him stay over, and uh nice to see you didnât get petrified.â Oh man he was just as awkward as his son.Â
âUm, thanks? Is there something else you wanted or can I shut the door now?â
âYeah, sure. Iâm going now, sorry about that.â So thatâs where the kid got it from.Â
She was at least able to make it across the room this time before the door swung open. Hooty didnât even wait for the knock this time as three kids were left standing with their fists held out.Â
Two of them, the clearly older ones, laughed. âIâd love to have a door like this someday.â The older girl commented while her brother nodded. âJust imagine all the stuff we could pull off with one.â he added.
The smaller one in the middle frowned as she crossed her arms. âSee if I ever visit you.âÂ
âOf courseâ her older sister began in a singsong voice. âYouâd only put up with this kind of torture if it was for~â This prompted a rather red faced Amity to quickly cover her mouth before she said something sheâd regret, causing the boy and even Eda to smirk as she made her way towards the door.Â
âHey kids.âÂ
âHi Eda!â The twins said in unison once Amity let Emira go. âWeâre just here to drop off our precious baby sisterâ Emira commented as Edric patted their, growing increasingly frustrated, little sisterâs head.Â
âI could have walked myself.â The witchling growled out but her expression completely changed, which did not go unnoticed by any of the three, when she saw Luz approaching the door.Â
âAmity!â The human cried out happily as she greatly encouraged the young witch inside. âHurry, we were just about to start playing a game!âÂ
âI-Iâm coming, just hold up already.â Her tone feigned annoyance but in truth she was very happy with any attention from the human. It was adorably amusing.Â
âSoâ Emira smirked as she acknowledged the other two with her again. âWho wants to make bets that something will happen tonight?âÂ
âPsh, together in a house at night? If something didnât happen Iâll be amazed but also greatly disappointed.â Eda stated before adding. âYouâre on kid!âÂ
After all the bets were placed the twins waved goodbye and Eda could finally close the door without worrying about any more guests needing to show up.
Knock knock.
Or so she thought. âKid, how many people did you invite?âÂ
Luz looked up from their game to count on her fingers. âLetâs see just Willow, Gus, Amity, and-âÂ
âHello, sister.âÂ
Of all the people Eda expected to see standing there Lilith was not one of them. Heck she would have expected even that Boscha girl more than her own sister. True things were slightly... better, for lack of a better word, between them but now that she wasnât in the coven she tended to keep to herself in the tower behind their house.Â
âWhat are you doing here, Lilith?â She didnât intend to sound mean or anything, just surprised.Â
âThe human, Luz, invited me to your âpartyâ as she called it.âÂ
Eda looked towards her apprentice with an expression that conveyed she wasnât mad just, confused and maybe slightly sad. âWhy?âÂ
As Luz considered what sheâd say for a moment her group of friends watched and waited for her explanation to which she finally just shrugged. âI guess I just thought, itâs been some time since everything happened, why not take little steps towards making things better.â Eda and Lilith considered what the girl had to say as she continued. âWhether we like it or not Lilith is gonna be with us now. Sheâs powerless she canât go anywhere else. It took awhile and I still donât know if I forgive her... But I think itâs okay to start letting her back in little by little.âÂ
Silence ruled the house as Lilith looked towards the human gratefully, so thatâs what her younger sister saw in her. Finally Eda turned towards Lilith with a sigh. âLuz is right, youâre welcome to stay if you wish.âÂ
âPerhaps for just a little while, I wonât overstep my boundaries.â They gave each other small smiles before Eda directed her towards the couch. She then fixed her kid with a stare as she held the door open. âNow is there anyone else I have to worry about? Did you invite the emperor too?âÂ
âWellâ Luz joked causing Eda to roll her eyes. âKid, if it wasnât for all these people I would have thrown you outside by now.âÂ
âNah, you love me too much.âÂ
âA fact Iâm starting to regret.â The others chuckled at the Owl Ladyâs comment as she closed the door, finally.Â
Walking over towards the group she saw Luz rise up from her spot with a start. âOh gosh, I forgot the drinks.âÂ
âHey kiddo, itâs okay Iâll get themâ Eda ruffled Luzâs hair. âYou just have fun with your friends.â To that Luz wrapped her arms around Edaâs neck and nuzzled against her cheek with a âThank you!â She was always dramatic with her appreciation that way. But instead of complaining Eda held her back for just a moment before letting go and dropping her on the floor. âAffection, gross.âÂ
âJust you wait, one of these days Iâll get you to stop pretending that you donât like it.âÂ
âSure kid, whatever you say.â Eda turned to her sister with a slightly cautious look. âWould you mind helping me?âÂ
âNot at all.â Came the quick reply as the two older women made their way into the kitchen leaving the kids, and King, alone.Â
Most had soft smiles on their faces as if they just saw the cutest thing ever. Amityâs face was the same as ever but there was a bit of red to it, she was the only one not looking in Luzâs direction.Â
âOkay, now whoâs ready for truth or dare?â Luz asked, to which Gus responded by raising his hand and asking what that is.
Animal Crossed Lovers (Tamaki Amajiki)
Alrighty so I haven't put any finished work on here in a hot minute, thatâs my bad. ANYWHO my mom got me ACNH as an early birthday gift since my birthday (April 5th) just missed the supposed quarantine cutoff date for our area (7th). I may be be stuck inside while everythingâs closed, but hey- at least the island of Escapism hardly rests đ
(SW-3129-0651-5422)
Tamaki Amajiki x GN! Reader
Tamaki was never one to play video games, but he had to admit there was just something...soothing about Animal Crossing that melted much of his anxiety away. Nejire had initially preordered a copy for his birthday weeks ago, but her friend who worked at the local (s/n) (who he may or may not have been crushing on since their second year after they joined them at lunch one day) was able to pull a couple strings and get it on the fourth of March instead of the twentieth. Of course he had no idea, but he was so stunned when he opened it that it didnât even occur to him that the game wasnât even out yet until Mirio had reminded him. He didnât question it though- his friend group was one wild card after another, so he guessed he shouldnât have been too surprised.
He was thrilled, and just the fact that no one else had a copy yet made it feel all the more personal. Of course he knew in sixteen days it would be all anybody ever talked about, but for the time being it felt like the game, the little world he had created in the past few days with its gentle music and soft, wholesome theme, was his and his alone. The fact that it was a gift from his friends made it all the more special, and even if he had a hectic day at school he could turn on the console and water pretend flowers on a pretend island, and for those few moments, all was right with the world.
He was pulling weeds to sell to Timmy for bells when his screen pinged in the corner that made his blood run cold.
(Gamertag) is online
Playing: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Thatâs right, you had friended him on the switch after realizing all his friends had one, and now with a fourth person they could have a full team online. Mirio has suggested everyone exchange codes, and you had taken the liberty of showing him how to punch in the code and adding yourself while he sat there trying not to melt into his seat at how excited you got, or how nice you smelled up close. You had passed it back with a beaming grin, telling him you couldnât wait to do co-ops. At the time he could only nod, speechless as the rest of his friends made idle chatter until the bell rung, and everyone scurried back to class.
He quickly realized he had left the terminal gate open when he was poking around the various features, learning about what each thing does in game. He tried sprinting to the airport to close the gates, and he made it to the dock before a big green banner flashed across his screen reading âyou have a visitor!â
Out of the threshold popped your avatar, and for a moment he was grateful he could hide behind a screen. He wanted to be mad, upset even, that you had wandered onto his digital sanctuary, but couldnât find it in himself because, then again, it was you.
The Nookphone in the top left corner buzzed to life, and he opened up the chat log with shaky hands. In a cutesy, pastel speech bubble was your message, and he wondered how something that was once so therapeutic to him could do a 180 and suddenly become the source of his anxiety.
G/T: Hello! Sorry to pop in unannounced, I hope you donât mind^^
Tamaki felt his mouth go dry, reading it in your voice and after steadying his breathing, he painstakingly typed out a response.
Suneater: its ok.
G/T: Itâs kinda hard to find others to play with when the game isnât even released yet >~<
Suneater: Oh?
He should have known it was too good to be true. You were only visiting him because no one else was on yet. He sighed, trying to keep the dread from crawling back in before another note popped up.
G/T: The game doesnât actually release until the first day of spring, but working at (s/n) has its perks. I saw the trailers and the hype and figured it would be the perfect game for you.
He felt a wave of relief wash over him upon reading that. So he wasnât the last choice- rather, the game simply wasnât out to the general public yet. But if that was the case, how did you also get a copy?
Suneater: thats nice of you
G/T: And then a little birdy told me you had a birthday coming up, so since I have a couple connections after I got my copy, I asked my manager if theyâd set aside one more.
Suneater: you
Suneater: you were the one who helped get it early?
Boy did he feel stupid now. You worked at (s/n), (as you had literally just mentioned in your previous notes), Nejire got him a game that wasnât out yet, you guys were all mutual friends- how did he not put two and two together?!
G/T: Yes lol that would be me^ you liking it so far? You picked a good name for the island too.
âSunshine Islandâ may have seemed a little cliche to most people, but Tamaki had so many things in his life linked to it that by this point, it was just routine. Mirio was his sun in dark times. His nickname Suneater, even the sunflowers he had received from his parents for his birthday each year was tradition. He knew not everyone would see it the way he did, but to him, it was perfect, and he was definitely chuffed when he thought it up and punched it in for the first time.
To hear you loved it too sent a swell of pride through him, and he wondered if it was possible to love someone as much as he did just then.
Suneater: you really think so?
G/T: Absolutely
And with that, the two of you explored Sunshine Island together, he showed you his tent, the shops, and the little orchard of peaches he had arranged. You were impressed by the amount of detail and care that went into arranging everything, and asked if heâd be willing to help you with your island sometime, to which he obliged.Â
You guys did some more walking, and he told you to feel free to shake theres and take a couple fruits with you. His native fruit was peaches, and in exchange you dropped a couple of your own fruits from your island on the ground for him to pick up so he could have more variety in his world.
G/T: Thereâs six different kinds, and each island is assigned one main type of fruit. the more you visit with friends, the more biodiversity youâll get. Pretty cool right? I have some spare (F/N), and if you take and plant those, they'll grow and multiply!
His avatar hesitantly wandered over to the offering after yours stepped back a little to let him take them. Your generousity was surely appreciated, and even though you couldn't see it, he smiled softly before typing out a new message.
Suneater: Thank you. Iâll go plant those.
The game might have been synced up with real time, even getting darker after a certain hour- yet despite it being outside, neither one of you noticed just how much time had passed between all the bug catching, fishing, exploring and talking. When your screen loaded up a clock that read 2:54 AM, you blinked a few times, as if that would change the reading. But lo and behold, it was going for 3am on a school night, and you knew you both had to get to bed.
G/T: Ah beans its 3am, I gotta get to bed soon. Thanks for letting me hang out on your island, and sorry for keeping you awake >~<
Suneater:Â don't be sorry, i had a lot of fun. can we play together again sometime?
G/T: Of course! I can't wait to meet up again. Maybe we can visit my island next time? I should have those peaches planted by then, and you can teach me your ways, oh master landscaper.
Tamaki chuckled out loud at that, blushing, as he suddenly had a brilliant idea.
Suneater: That would be nice. Wait here a second.
He scurried off to a patch of flowers he had blooming, and with a shovel, picked up a few in your favorite color before making his way back over and dropping them in front of you.
Suneater: You can start by planting a few of these around your island. It is your favorite color, right?
Now it was your turn to blush as you picked up the (f/c) flowers he dropped in front of you, smiling like a goon at his burst of confidence. How he remembered your favorite color is beyond you, but hey- you werenât complaining.
G/T: Theyâre perfect, thank you Tama!
Suneater:Â You're welcome. Iâll see you tomorrow?
G/N: You know it! Goodnight <3
And on that note you walked down to the airport, his avatar following close behind as if to see you off. It was a simple gesture, but appreciated nonetheless. Both of you powered down your switches for the night before plugging them in, and promptly hopping into your respective beds with racing hearts. It was the perfect end to your digital âdateâ and you couldnât wait to log in again.
Thank you for reading! Feedback and reblogs are appreciated. Hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed writing it. The inbox is always open for future ideas, so donât be afraid to drop in.Â
Also gonna tag @katsukisprincessâ cause I mean...Animal Crossing and wholesome Tamaki fluff. âNuff said.
Chapter LIST
The rapid sound of gunfire, infused with blood curdling screams, certainly forced your heart to beat right out of your chest. The beating, increased without any prior announcement shocked you, as if the live, blood pumping organ might literally fall out of your flesh vessel. The scene you witnessed, was never expected but only imagined in modes of fiction. Be it novels or films. However, when you truly got to taste it in the rusty reality, only then did you realize the gravity of its horror. And only then at that fateful moment, did you genuinely fear for your precious life.
Just when it seemed trouble had finally set you free.
(A Few Days Earlier)
Allison Hughs was your quintessential fun-loving, living in the moment party girl with complete control over the pace of her existence. Apart from all that, she was also a loyal friend, blindly following you to the ends of the earth in ranting.
âSHE DID WHAT?â
Her inquiry was loud and dramatic, to which you nodded. âYepâ you replied, âShe straight up went thereâŠâ
Safe to say, the âSheâ that was being mentioned here was none other than Clara Bennett, the Consultant who slithered her way into Wayne Enterprises, solely to make exaggerated inspections on HR Operations, and to make your cooperate life a living hell, drenched with self-doubt and insecurity. It certainly traveled up a notch when she proactively invited you to take part in a Basic HR Crash Course, that was mainly designed to New Recruits. Simply because she assumed that you would find the Course âhelpfulâ to your own line of work. The fact she indirectly implied a trace of incompetence in you caused so much embarrassment.
âThe hell is that bitchâs problem though?â
Allison kept inquiring, as she wiped off the milk from her lips, âSeriouslyâŠâ she muttered, standing by the opened refrigerator in her pajamas.
âYeahâ you continued to nod, as you stuffed a spoonful of cereal into your mouth, â..and LillianâŠbeing my senior since day 1, didnât even treat me this wayâ you added, with a full mouth.
Already dressed for work, little did you expect to see Allison awake and engaged while you had your breakfast, âI look like a fucking jokeâŠâyou muttered, after finally gulping the food down.
âHey!â
Allison cried, pointing her index finger at you, âDonât you dare give upâ she said with seriousness, standing before you, âYou need to stand your ground and carry on with dignityâŠâ she continued, her tone quite similar to a heroic speech, âMake Lillian proud she left you in chargeâŠâ she added, putting both hands on the table. Leaning forward, she took a closer look, âThis will be good for youâŠâ finally as her voice grew soft, she flashed a soft smile. You could not help but look at her affectionately, as you exhaled deeply.
âTalking to you makes me feel so much betterâŠâ you admitted. Pleased, Allison stood up straight.
âThatâs why Iâm your hype man, Sweetie!â she said, turning towards the window, âWatch out Gotham! The Bruiser is here to SLAY-â
âHEYYY!!-â your shushes exited along with your embarrassment. Your friend covered her mouth quickly.
âSorry, SweetieâŠ.â Allison whispered, taking the hands away, âBut it just sounds so badassâŠâ as her tone grew normal once more. You shot her a deranged look.
âDo I look like someone who deserves the name?â you inquired. âWellâŠâ she said, folding her arms, ââŠthe fact you punched that guy is a good enough reasonâŠâ
Shaking oneâs head with a chuckle, you watched her head to the bedroom with a maniacal laughter. The sudden vibration of the table forced you to look down at your phone. The chuckling stopped, permitting your pulse to quicken with liberty. Rubbing your neck nervously, you proceeded to read the text from the only sender who was capable to send you through an emotional wild ride: Bruce Wayne.
Sorry, long night. Good Morning!
Pausing for a few seconds, you exhaled loudly as began to type:
No worries. Hope your day goes well, Mr. Wayne.
Being an appropriate response, you sent without hesitation. Long night?, could it possibly truly mean a hectic night of crime fighting and city saving in disguise? A strong urge suddenly arose to pull up the search browser on your phone, and type in the words: Batman. And what appeared first in the results certainly made your eyebrows rise with curiousity.
âAliâŠ.â You yelled loud enough for her to hear, âYouâve heard of a website called⊠âWhereâs the Batâ?
âEH?â
Her response was equally loud and echoing, âOh yeahâŠâ she added, whilst you opened the web page, ââŠMatty was talking about it sometime backâŠâ she continued, âSome nerdy site about The BatmanâŠâ
ïżœïżœDamn!â
The word abruptly left your lips as your eyes widened. For you were treated to such a sight, âAliâŠget thisâŠâ you said, proceeding to read the description of the page, âWelcome to âWhereâs the Bat?â Your Online Resource for all things Batman: Gothamâs Caped CrusaderâŠâ you squealed excitedly,  âHa! Itâs a freakinâ fan site! Oh! Oh!â you exclaimed as you continued to read out loud:
â⊠reliable sources from our very own admins and enthusiasts all over Gotham CityâŠâ with a whistle, you nodded, âThese folks are not kidding around, huh?â you muttered, letting your finger slowly scroll down, âAnd they have posts on almost every appearance he made in the cityâŠâ you said out loud, yet it seemed that Allison was never interested.Â
The Website backdrop was in black, but encompassing a very beautiful design concept. The immaculate detail was beyond believable. Detailed posts on possible weapons owned, vehicles, fighting styles and costume, Photos ranging from Low Quality to High, even blurry videos by camera phones, it was certainly a network of information. Your eyes widened when you saw the recent post title:Â
Batman and The Bruiser?
âWhat the-?â Muttering to yourself, you clicked on the article.
ââŠalso known as The Bruiser (Click Here for the Viral Clip) was spotted nearby when a group of muggers had reportedly attacked her. According to the anonymous source, Batman had arrived right on time. A clip of the incident may not be available, yet we did manage to find a small clip as he escaped the scene. And according to Gotham PD, the Caped Crusader had appeared once again to The Bruiserâs aid the night after. As much as we feel sorry for the bad luck The Bruiser attracts, we could only be nothing but envious of her opportunity to meet the Dark Knight twice. And some of us could not help but wonder: Could romance possibly be in bloom between the two?â
âWhat?â Nervous chuckles were all you let out as you whispered, âHah! In your dreams, fanboysâŠâ you uttered, closing the browser, âBatman would never go for a woman like meâ you said, almost dropping the phone by its sudden vibration. For a reply was received.
You too. Stay out of trouble :)
âAnd you stay out of my headâ you said to yourself, putting the phone back on the table. Covering your face, you could only groan with frustration. Ever since that evening at the hospital a mere week before, casual texts from Bruce Wayne began to appear on your phone, starting off on the very next day:
Couldnât thank you for running that errand for Fox.
The errand, meaning the black box that Mr.Fox entrusted you with. A small yet long box which was quite light. The very box that granted you access to his penthouse and to the friendship with Alfred Pennyworth.
Just doing my job, Mr.Wayne.
You remember replying that day at office. It was not exactly necessary for him to thank you this way, yet his action was commendable. He did not hesitate to quickly respond:
Much appreciated.
Just when you thought it was the end, he greeted once again two days later. During an important meeting, for example:
Hi there! Is Ms.Foster enjoying the gift?
Once the meeting wrapped up, you made sure to respond :
Very much, from what I know. Youâre making motherhood very easy for her.
You would be lying if you did not look forward to write him back. The manner your fingers tingled was quite evident.Â
Thatâs a relief.
Clearly with his corresponding reply, he displayed quite an interest in conversing with you, by finding meager excuses to obtain your response. Yet, a part of you wondered what his actual intentions were. Be professional, a phrase that lingered in your head always. A warning, more like. As much as the desire to carry on the message thread was strong within, you did not reply back.
Two days passed, and surprisingly you were dying with curiousity. Could it be that his intention to communicate had finally gone? Or could it be that you were finally missing him? Forming a clever excuse to obtain his signature, you liaised with Jessica, only to find out Bruce Wayne was currently on a business trip in Singapore.
Intoxicated with impulsiveness, your thumbs grew stubborn as they formed a message on your phone:
Heard youâre in Singapore. How is it?
âShit! Roaming Charges!â
You sighed, your palm slapped over your forehead. Putting the phone away to enjoy the view of the bus ride, you sincerely hoped he would never notice. But to your surprise, the phone vibrated instantly:
Loving the Food here.
Despite roaming charges, he was kind enough to reply. And that touched you very deeply. Then again, money was never an issue for a man of his stature. him. However, you were not Bruce Wayne. Still, a few extra dollars seemed nothing compared to the inner secretive joy you indulged in as you replied:Â
Not surprised. The Bakkwa over there is to die for.
He did not reply. He did not do so for a day and two. You grew worried, if he was really knee deep in business, or literally knee deep in trouble. But the next morning, you were finally assured of his safe arrival back to Gotham, especially when you found a gift at the door. A Gift which came in the form of a beautiful red box full of Bakkwa, the Chinese sweet dried meat, one of your favorite treats. You did not miss the handwritten note inside:
Youâre right. It IS to die for. - B.Wayne
Chuckling with happiness, you were only compelled to quickly text him a grateful reply:
The Bakkawa enthusiast sends her Thanks.
To which you finally received a reply this morning as you indulged on your cereal:
Sorry, long night. Good Morning!
Groaning in frustration seemed rightfully reasonable for you. Stressing out seemed rightfully reasonable as well. Who would not, when there was a storm that brewed inside of you. A storm of emotions that contained the sticky quality. The adhesiveness that was stubborn to the core. For if you look at the situation in itâs entirety, this was not your average instance of a man and woman forming a textual habit in order to know one another. You were an acting Head, informally socializing with the owner of Wayne Enterprises. Being in HR, you could already feel the weight of unprofessionalism heat on you. That guilt which already seemed to haunt you subtly. Thus, not responding further seemed logical, yet it certainly was a hard pill for you to swallow.Â
âYou sure you donât want anything? Coffee or Tea?â
You asked Officer John Blake, ushering him to his seat as you sat down. He shook his head.
âIâm good, Maâamâ he said with a smile. Smiling back, you were drenched with guilt. A week earlier, the police officer had requested to meet, yet with your unexpected work load, you reluctantly had to send him back the previous time. Forcing him to wait so long for a week was something you knew you would go to hell for. But John Blake did not judge, or as it seemed from his expression.
âDidnât know you were running a tight ship here .â He said, looking back to witness the bustle in the main hall outside.
âWell, the Headâs on Maternity leave soâŠIâm stuck here, heheâŠâ You answered nervously, âOnce again Iâm so sorry Officer. You said it was something urgent?â
âItâs about the two attacksâŠâ Blake said, capturing your attention. âNow Iâm sure youâre probably wondering if those are simply coincidental or something moreâŠâ
âI honestly have been afraid to go down that rabbit hole, but yes I did wonderâŠâ you replied. Looking sideways, he finally turned your way as his lowered his voice:
âI have reason to believe Erik Henderson may be connected to thisâŠâ
The image of the mocking man, and his bloody nose flashed before your very eyes. Given his anger, it could be a high possibility. Yet, you were in disbelief.
âWhat gave you the idea?â You inquired with curiousity. Blake kept his police his hat on his lap securely:
âThe men who attacked you, the ones we arrestedâŠâ He said, to which you nodded in acknowledgment, âThey were bailed out the very next day by-â
â-Hendersonâs Legal Team?â You asked blankly, for you were still in disbelief. Blake nodded.
âI may be wrongâ he said, âBailing the people who attacked you, it could also just be a power move, maybe to scare you offâŠâ he added, leaning forward, âSo far we cannot be sureâŠâ He continued, âBut I think itâs best for you to keep an eye out-â
Your eyes suddenly darted towards the phone screen. For an email just appeared in your personal inbox with a title:
âJob Offer for General Managerâ
Eyes widening, you were certainly not expecting that. Quiet for a few minutes, you found yourself staring at your own table, for you were confused beyond all measure with everything you just heard and saw.
âIâm sorry...â Blake began, shaking you from your thoughts, â if Iâm causing you any discomfort-â
âNoâŠitâs alrightâ flipping the phone downward, you shook your head with a soft smile, âI justâŠall this was just so unexpected. Didnât think there would be any possibility for anything like this, thatâs allâ you said, smiling even more, âI appreciate the information, Officerâ
Truthfully, you were nothing but grateful to the man. Perhaps it was because he was the arresting officer who was in charge of that fateful night. Nevertheless, he was nothing but kind to you. Blake grinned widely.
âThe Precinct still thanks The Bruiser for Commonâs Coffeeâ He said, to which you were genuinely surprised.
âOh! Iâm glad-â
âBOSS!â
Gregâs cries forced both of you to look to the door. Distress never looked good on Greg. Giving a heavy sigh, he began:
â Iâm sorry to keep doing this butâŠâ he said, âClaraâs gone off the rails!â
As he made his way down the Lobby through the crowds, John Blake made his careful observations, fascinated by all that he glanced upon in the Wayne Tower. âOfficer Blake!â Stopping in his tracks, John turned upon hearing a familiar voice. He smiled.
âMr.WayneâŠâ He addressed,  âDidnât expect to see you hereâ Smartly dressed in a pinstriped three piece suit, Bruce Wayne stood before the much younger man with a reciprocative smile.
âWell,â he began âYou canât just play hardâŠ.soâŠâ Nodding in acknowledgment, Blake held on to his hat. With the silence between them growing longer, John began to speak:
âIâm actually just coming down after meeting one of your Senior Managersâ He said, which caught Wayneâs attention.
âWho isâŠ?â
When Blake provided him with the name, Bruce nodded nonchalantly. âIs this anything to do with the Henderson case?â He asked, suddenly growing serious. Surprised by his knowledge, the officer nodded.
âYesâŠ.â Blake added. But then again, there was nothing to be surprised of. Given Wayne was in the hotel when it all happened.Â
âHow did she take it?â âSurprisingly pretty wellâ Blake said, as he began to walk alongside Wayne ,âBut she seems to have her hands full today, doesnât look too goodâ he sighed, involuntarily empathizing with her. And given Wayneâs subtle yet concerned expression, Blake realized he was not alone there. Finally reaching the exit, the officer was compelled to do the unexpected:
âSince you were a witness to the incident,..â he began, making Wayne look at him, â I think itâs probably best that you also knowâŠâ
You have always put your trust in Lillian Foster. That trust had lasted throughout your time in Wayne Enterprises without forsaking you for a mere second. Thus, you were certain she did the needful in approving the Revised Policies and Regulations before taking her leave. For you had personally witnessed it.
However, when a company email from Clara Bennett to Lucius Fox claimed HR was seemingly incapable of carrying out their operations under the current leadership, you were not surprised to find your anger making an appearance.
And the embarrassment you had to face when she even went so far as to copy you and your managers in to that said email. Professional was nowhere near this behavior. For this was simply childâs play. The panic all your department staff went through was understandable. Especially when they worked only to their very best.
âYou wanted to me see me?â
Clara asked, as she entered your office. Raising your head up, you threw a cold expression her way: âClose the door pleaseâ Your tone was stern. Looking around, Clara furrowed her eyebrows. âBut arenât you supposed to-â âIâll take my chances, Ms. Bennettâ You interrupted her, lips forming a tight smile. With an uncertain nod, she closed the door shut, before taking a few steps towards you. Slowly getting up from your desk, you quickly walked over to her. It was now or never. âWe saw that little email that you sent to Mr. Fox.â You stated, to which she did not flinch. Scoffing, your hands rested on your hips, âI know how things work: When people mess up, even after many warnings, they get complained about to the superiorsâŠâ you said in a matter-of-fact tone, âButâŠâ you paused, as you were on a dire attempt not to explode, âhow can you expect us...â Surprisingly you felt emotion trickling in, â...to take this lying down when you DIDN'T PERFORM EITHER OF THOSE ACTIONS?â With your voice surprisingly getting louder than expected, Clara found herself folding her arms in defense: âLook, I get it...â She said, her smile suddenly faded,  âYou donât like me snooping aroundâ You scoffed in disbelief, âMs.Bennett, this is not you snooping around. This is you desperately finding excuses to make US LOOK BADâ you stated loudly, âI meanâŠWhat exactly on the policies and regulations are you complaining about?â You inquired. And to your surprise, Clara grew quiet before she finally answered:
âI just...â she paused, as if she was seeking excuses,  â...donât understand why the Policies couldnât be circulated if they were revisedâ Your jaw dropped in disbelief, âWhat are you talking about??They were already revised and circulatedâ you answered with certainty, appalled by the childish games that were being played. âWellâŠâ pausing again, âI donât see them in the Public Folderâshe said stubbornly, to which you sighed, rubbing your temples, â And according to my sources, Itâs Paula Yangâs  responsibility, am I right?â Though authority was rife in her tone, you could sense the menace that lingered invisibly.
âMs. Bennett...â you gritted through your teeth, taking your hand away, âPaula is on bed rest after breaking HER LEG...from a biking accident last weekendâ you burst out, â...if you looked up on our employees with the SAME ENTHUSIASM you did on our work, then you would probably know thatâ you spat, fuming with anger, Â âBut If you expect me to deprive her of her paid leave, JUST SO she could just limp over here to UPLOAD SOME POLICIES to a server? then youâre sorely mistaken! â You cried out, panting.
Subtly shocked at your response, Clara stood silently. Given her reaction, it was quite evident something disastrous would soon follow. Your threw your hands up in defense.
âFineâ you said, âIf you prefer to pin this error on me, please do. But⊠not the departmentâ you said, as your voice grew soft , â...pleaseâ you breathed. Closing her eyes for a few seconds, Clara opened them once again, shooting you a stern glance.
âDo you knowâŠwhat I was told about you before I came here?â She posed a rhetorical question, to which you rightfully did not answer to, âAn unprofessional thug, with anger issues.â She said.
In all your years of working at Wayne Enterprises, this was the far from what you had ever heard from anyone. The silence ruled over the atmosphere for a few more seconds.
âSo I came in with a mission...â Clara went on, â...to tame you. Or to rile you up enough to expose who you really wereâ she said harshly. Folding your own arms in defense, you took a deep breath:
âWell,â you began, âI believe I was angry For the right reasons. So no regrets hereâ you answered with confidence. Whatever consequence that may follow, you were not aware of, for your justified rage may possibly have outdone yourself this time. You only wished Lillian would forgive you.
âButâŠâ Clara paused, â...from the way you stood up for your employees and your departmentâŠ,â she said, as her expression softened, â I guess⊠I was badly misinformed.â Confusion took over you for the next few seconds, as she looked straight into your eyes before taking in a deep breath:
âIâm sorry!â Your eyes widened, âP-Pardon?â Sighing, Clara reluctantly rubbed the sides of her thighs: âIâm sorryâŠIf I insulted you in any wayâ she said shyly in a low tone, âHonestly speaking, no matter how much I tried to deny it, everything seems to be running smoothlyâ She added.Â
Relief quickly washed over you. Leaving you questioning reality all the sudden. â I would gladly leave you all alone but..,â Clara smiled, âIâve been contracted here for a while. So, I hope we can all cooperate together till I leave. Maybe a fresh start?â
Extending her hand to you, she presented a genuine smile. A smile possibly carrying hope to gain your trust. Sincerely impressed by her bravery, you smiled back: âSure, Apology acceptedâ You said, shaking her hand, âI really appreciate it, Ms.Bennettâ
âClara, Please.â She insisted, âMs.Bennett just pisses me off even moreâ
Chuckling together, you nodded, âOkay, Gotchaâ
The phone rang loud to your surprise. Giving her a friendly wave, you quickly moved to your desk in a cheerful manner, growing even more cheerful upon seeing the extension on the phone screen.
âMr. Fox!â You answered, as you sat down, âHow can I help you?â
Since the fateful day she first laid eyes on him in his glorious return to Wayne Enterprises until now, Jessica would certainly never not blush whenever Bruce Wayne politely greeted her. Upon seeing her red face, he stepped into Lucius Foxâs office, walking over to find the CEO on the phone wearing a smile on his face.
âDonât worry about it.â Fox said over the phone, âSo youâll come? PerfectâŠâ He smiled, nodding at Wayne as he finally appeared in his eye line, âHope to see you thenâ He added, hanging up the phone.
âI have to admitâŠâ Fox began, ushering Bruce to sit, â⊠seeing you here every day at Wayne Tower is a happy surpriseâ He said. Bruce smiled.
âEverything alright?â He asked the CEO, âThe Audits arenât happening till another month or so..â
âNoâŠâ Fox shook his head, surprisingly impressed, â I was actually wondering if you wouldâŠlike to join me in the Company Dinner, this Thursday night. Itâs a little gathering I normally do with the Heads of Departments...â he continued, glancing upon Wayneâs confused expression, â...to form a closer bond and⊠give them moraleâ He said, tilting his head. As much as the sentiment was kind, Wayne sighed with exhaustion.
âMr.Fox, you know very well how I rather be stuck in the basement than go to thatâŠâ he said, slowly getting up, âIâm afraid Iâll have to passâ. Offering a polite smile, he turned around to make his leave. When opportunities to make a choice were given, he would certainly rather choose to not wear that mask in public. It tired him.
âSheâs coming tooâ
Bruce froze, the moment Foxâs words reached his ears. Turning to him, he raised his eyebrows.
âShe?â He began, âYou meanâŠshe?â He asked, highly emphasizing on the said pronoun, for both of them knew the person being discussed.
âYesâ Fox said, âJust got off the phone with her as you came inâ he added, âI just thought you would like to knowâ with nonchalance, he casually put on his glasses.
Silently nodding, Bruce turned back to resume walking. Only except he halted once again, just to spin back around smoothly.
âThursdayâŠwhat time?â He inquired with genuine curiousity.
Being a man of his age, Lucius Fox could not help but smile at his response.
Being the workaholic, Lunch Breaks was nothing short of special for you. The moment the last bite of your delicious meal reached your lips, it was off to work once again, giving you ample time to finish your tasks. But this Wednesday, you cast that usual habit away, taking the luxury you rarely took during this entire decade.
Just to decide on a dress.
With your lunch on the desk and Allison on speakerphone, your eyes moved back and forth from two beautiful dresses on the website. With Mr. Fox casually inviting you to the Company Dinner, all you longed to provide was a good impression. Most women in your position would feel greatly pressured and stick to a salad just to fit into the dress. However, you were far too greedy to ignore the great Spaghetti Bolognese that was on the table before you.
âSweetie, You know I love you, So why wonât you fucking listen to me?â
Allisonâs echoed out loud, as you stared at the screen with concern. âCause itâs a crazy idea, thatâs why â you said, stuffing pasta into your mouth, âBetter go with the black oneâŠâ you said with a full mouth, pointing at the long sleeved black dress, âItâs tame, and I can just blend in with crowdâ squinting, you attempted at imagining yourself in the outfit.
âBoo! BORINGâ
Allisonâs response was quite obvious.
âHey!â Claraâs whisper reached your ears, urging you to find her standing by the door with a smile. Ever since the intervention, the atmosphere underwent a surprising change, and all was well with the both of you. It was quite unbelievable how cooperative she had become. âIâm sorry but...could I borrow a twenty?â She asked politely in a whisper, all in order not to intrude your call. âSureâŠâ You whispered back, reaching into your bag to grab your purse, âHah! Lucky you, thatâs all I haveâ You grinned, fishing out the only dollar note as she headed over to take it from your hand.
âHey! Â Hey! Sweetie, Did I lose you?â
Allisonâs voice brought you back to the phone call. âNo! No! You didnâtâŠSorry! Argh!â Groaning in frustration, you looked back at the computer screen, âI donât know what to do, AliâŠâ You muttered.
âWhat is it?â With her still standing there, Clara finally asked out loud. She genuinely looked concerned. Embarrassed, you pointed at the screen.
âNo itâs justâŠâ you paused, âI have to go to this Cooperate Dinner thingy tomorrow, and I donât know what to getâŠâ you added, ââŠthe Black or the Whiteâ.
Silent for a few seconds, you stared at Clara as she rubbed her chin with seriousness, while making a careful observation at the screen. Finally, her fingers snapped loudly.
âThe White OneâŠâ Confidence oozed out of her voice as she replied. Looking back at the dress, you took a deep breath. V neck on the front along with a low cut in the back, the pure white silk evening gown certainly possessed the potential to be a show stopper.
âI meanâŠWhy be afraid to stand out?â
Claraâs words, they rang in your ears so loudly. Pointing at the dress, she continued:Â
âWear this, and No one will be able to take their eyes off youâ The manner in which she uttered, you were suddenly filled with enough power to head out to the battlefield. Her words, they were simply invisible embellishments to the dress, making it the armor and the secret weapon. It simply became powerful. And finally, you were convinced on which dress to finally purchase. Lips forming into a warm smile, you thanked her inaudibly.
âYAY!â Allison cried out on the line, âWhoever just said that, I agree with youâ Chucking, Clara cleared her throat and looked at your mobile phone.
âHey thereâŠItâs Clara by the wayâŠâ she said to Allison. You suppressed a huge grin as you imagined Allisonâs surprise upon hearing that.
âOhâŠYOUâRE Clara?âŠâ she said, pausing, âWell I like how you think, Claraâ she said happily afterwards. Relieved by the sight of both your best friend and your new friend being acquainted, your eyes moved back to the beautiful dress.Â
âWear this, and No one will be able to take their eyes off youâ
Clara may be right. But you were a simple woman, and your wishes were just as simple. Little did anyone know how your heart simply longed for just one person to indulge your presence for the entire evening. But the possibility of that, was just your wishful thinking. You could only hope for the evening be as successful as imagined. As long as it had the perfect touch of jazz piano playing in the background.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
With notes played with the fluidity of a free flowing stream, the jazz piano music was certainly better tonight than it was that Friday evening weeks ago. With tonight, you only hoped to replace the horrid memory of violence that linked the genre of music with an evening more refined. For tonight, you were no violator, nor a drunkard. You were merely a lady in a beautiful, silk dress.
Walking through the Lobby in your silver open toe heels, you came into the realization of how the dress simply became you. Contrary to your fears, it embraced your curves effortlessly, while the material was kind to you, caressing and cooling your skin.The dress itself contained a sense of assurance you would most likely receive from a trusted friend, some good Samaritan, kindly whispering positive affirmations. Fashioning the outfit with your Mikimoto pearls, you felt you were prepared enough.
You were punctual, fortunately. Lillian would have been proud. When you arrived at the reserved table, the other Heads were just about to take their seats. Cold, curt nods were passed on to you the moment they caught sight of you. Lucius Fox, however was humble enough to smile widely upon seeing you.
âI appreciate you coming in tonightâŠâ He stated, as he politely ushered you to your seat, which granted you access between him and Head of Legal, Tedâs Boss, âThis is usually Lillianâs gigâ he said.
âYes I heard,â you agreed while sitting down together, âAnd she does it flawlesslyâ
âI think youâll be able to hold off your ownâ Fox assured, quite impressed by your appearance tonight. You smiled.
âThank you, Mr. Foxâ you nodded, looking at him, until he suddenly rose from his own chair.Â
âAh! The man of the hourâ
He said as  he looked ahead, ââŠso glad you could come, Mr.WayneâÂ
The mere mention of that manâs name made you turn forward in a flash. Bruce Wayne was simply Suave incarnate. He certainly brought forth great depth to his presence everywhere he set foot on. You swore the airways inside began to dry out as your breath was taken away in secret. However, that breath was quickly stomped and discarded recklessly when you realized he was no alone. With a beautiful woman on his arm, he arrived at the table.
When that strong, sour feeling came over you, you were mature enough to admit it was simple jealousy. Yet then again, the playboy lifestyle certainly was demanding. The flashing smile Bruce wore slightly disappeared , when his eyes met yours from the corner of the table. With your sour jealousy stewing you, it was a sheer relief that he took his seat on the other far corner.
âReally Mr .Wayne, This is such a pleasant surpriseâ Mr. Kline, Head of Accounting mentioned with joy.
âWell, Mr. Fox is getting better with power of persuasion, I suppose â Wayne said, looking at Lucius, âSo...â rubbing his hands together, he smiled, âWhat are we all having? My treat...âÂ
To everyoneâs delight, the night certainly started off on a positive note. According to the trusted word of Lucius Fox, Sushi was the prime choice of food on every single dinner . It was the shared interest with all the Heads by coincidence. Thus, becoming a tradition.
Fortunately for you, you knew your way with Japanese cuisine enough to save your face. Wine and Sake were in abundance in the table, leaving most of the Heads and Wayneâs date quite excited with intoxication. It was certainly a surprise for you, to see the Heads break out into wide smiles and childish attitudes once the alcohol entered their systems. They did not speak much with you, which you were fine with. You were the new one there , after all. But with Fox next to you, you felt a fatherly figure watched over you. You listened to him with earnest, which was not so difficult with his charismatic voice.
You also longed for a distraction. A strong distraction from Bruce Wayneâs eyes secretly claiming ownership over you the entire time. Could he be watching Fox? Or you? You honestly did not know. As much as your inner heart jumped for Joy by the thought of him watching you, confusion ruled supreme.
The turn of the conversation topic from Work to Sailing suddenly tempted the Heads call Mr Fox over to the other side, forcing him and Bruce to change seats instead. His date did not even notice, as she was busy engrossed in her phone. Though you were at your element, calmly eating your maki rolls in silence, your heart beat increased in an instant when his presence nearby was confirmed. His aura gently murmured a greeting of affection, urging you to look up from your plate. Covering your mouth, you politely swallowed the food. With the others engaged in their own little world, it seemed that you and Bruce were suddenly left to yourselves.
âThank you again for the Bakkwaâ
You began, clearing your throat ââŠit was heavenlyâ you said, smiling whilst flashing your full red lips. Smiling back warmly, he leaned forward to the table.
âI donât wanna brag but...â he paused, âI found that store all by myselfâ He said softly, as it was a dramatic secret. Eyes widened, you played along: âOh! I find that hard to believeâ You said, chuckling.
âAsk me the address, I dare youâ He said blankly, making you chuckle harder. Nodding, you generously accepted his kindness. Be it text or face to face, talking to Bruce Wayne symbolized pure joy to you.
âWell, well, wellâŠâ
An eerie voice, a voice that haunted your intoxicated memories, and a voice that caused the hairs of the back of your neck to stand. It was a voice you knew well. So bloody well.
âIsnât this a surprise?â
The entire table looked over to find Erik Henderson. With a gracefully beautiful and age appropriate woman standing beside him, Henderson was as smug as he could be. âMr. Henderson...â Fox said. Henderson looked right at him. âLucius...â He uttered, without casting a single glance at Bruce Wayne. The sight of him brought a sense of fear to you. According to Officer Blake, he could very much be responsible for all the attacks you were victim to during the past few weeks. The possibility was high. Thus, the intimidation was justified. Funny how the intoxicated group of Heads managed to maintain their frozen states for a few seconds. As if their buzz was killed right off.
âWell,..â Henderson began, maintain his unimpressed expression, Â âI wish you all have a pleasant eveningâ He stressed , slowly turning to leave. âAnd You!â A gasp left you the moment he spun back to point his index finger at you with such ferocity and anger. With bated breath, you wondered if time froze. Until he suddenly smiled at you. âYou behave now...â He said mockingly, chuckling with power as he finally left the table. With the awkward silence taking control, embarrassment injected itself into you. The way he spoke to you was certainly disrespectful. So much so, your right hand quickly clenched into a tight fist , forcing you to revisit the trauma even now by his cruel words. All your anger, centralized into this fist.
But that anger suddenly vanished into thin air, the moment you felt Bruceâs palm rest over your fist. A literal warmth spread across every cell on your being, as his palm comforted you, and empathized with you more than ever. A few seconds of that sent you to a level of peace you never visited. The fact that a man such as he was with his inner conflicts could still heal you unexpectedly, it was magic to you. Finally looking at him, you nodded with gratefulness, leading him to take his away politely.
With silence still in charge, you were guilty of your past actions ruining tonightâs occasion as well. âMaybe itâs the alcohol but...â Kline slowly began, â...that Hendersonâs face always reminds me of anâŠanimalâŠâ he remarked, breaking the ice, âl canât place which one exactly...â He struggled, snapping his fingers away to remember. âA Bat?â Another Head inquired. âYES!â Kline yelled out loud, causing others to finally laugh and feel the comfort take center stage once more. Letting out a sigh, you were relieved to let them converse and make merry. You were occupied enough, recovering from Bruceâs sudden touch. â...and speaking of Bats...â Kline slurred out, âThat Batman fella...â â-He comes up every timeâŠâ Fox yelled towards your direction with a sigh, while the others clapped in glee. Being so popular, it was no surprise that many consider Batman to be a celebrity of his own right. â-wonder if he ever has any off days?â Kline sniggered, red in the face with sake. âHa! Like paid leave, you mean?â âAnd donât forget insurance! Boy! that man needs a big oneâ âHahaha!â âMr.Wayne! Mr. Wayne!â Kline yelled at Bruce, âAny idea about him from the grapevine ?â He inquired. âWhat?â Bruce asked, ââŠthat Looney!?!â He added with an amused smile, âEh! Not interestedâ he replied with an unimpressed tone. âWhy?â It seemed that everyone was curious. Even you were. âBecause...â Bruce paused, âWellâŠheâs a Looney! Thatâs allâŠ.â he laughed, shaking his hand in the air with dismissal. His carefree laughter infected the others, except you. As you were too occupied observing him, you could not even focus. He may have not worn the cowl, but he was certainly wearing his mask. Noticing your stare, Bruce turned to find your face filled with a soft smile.
âYou really donât mean that about the guy, right?â You murmured softly. And all the sudden, that carefree expression of his slowly melted away to reveal his true form, unmasked. âNoâ Calm and collected, he shook his head with a gentle smile. A sudden urge to embrace him was birthed in you for some reason, it was certainly out of your control. âHey! Lillianâs Backup!â You jumped upon hearing Kline call you out loudly. With all eyes on landing towards your direction, you quickly sat up straight, âWhatâs your take on him? The Batman?â Kline inquired informally. âOh!â Pleasantly surprised, you were speechless for a few seconds. What were you to say really? âI -I rather not say...â you admitted, as you found yourself chuckling shyly. âEh!â Kline muttered, seemingly unamused, âSheâs no funâhe claimed,  ââŠnot like Lillian now, is she?â The others hummed together in agreement. They may have gotten lost in their own world of conversation once again. Yet, the words Kline blurted affected you deeply. âWellâŠ.â You sighed, âNothing I havenât heard beforeâ  âWhat isâŠ?â Bruceâs inquiry made you look at him. Placing both your elbows on the table, you took a deep breath as you kept a brave, fixed gaze at him:
âYouâre.. no⊠funâ
You said, in a low yet strong tone as you emphasized on every word with pain, ââŠthat oneâ
âI find that hard to believeâ Bruce said. He did not flinch. Instead, he accepted your stare and held on to it firmly. Even with the golden lights you were still able to make out the beautiful hazel green eyes of his up close. His gaze, it was as powerful as anything physical. As if his eyes could caress the back of your neck, brushing the loose hair from it, leaving nothing but shivers on you.
Finally breaking free from it, you sat back with a chuckle.
âWellâ you began, ââŠyou obviously havenât met my exâ
You watched his eyebrows furrow the moment those words exited you. Taking a huge sip of wine, you pressed your lips together.
âHe said I fall too fast....â you began, âor care too much...or somethingâ
Revisiting that dark period in your life was akin to walking a thousand miles backwards, just to get your heart pricked by sharp, rusted nails. The mere image of it forced you to gulp more wine. Â
âWell, Where is he now?â
Bruce asked softly. Taking a third sip, you looked back at him:
âYou mean after he cheated on me?â You asked, chuckling sadly, ââŠHe flew off somewhereâŠwith his new girlfriendâ you said, sighing âApparently I was too predictable and doesnât play hard to getâ
âThenâŠâ Bruce began, ââŠwhat about you throwing punches at Henderson?â
âThat?â You widened your eyes, âOh thatâs just the whiskeyâ
Laughter ensued, breaking the tension between the two once again. Truthfully, you felt much at ease right then.
âI bet you donât have that problem, playing the field and allâ You said, holding on to your wine glass. Bruce smiled.
âAh! Getting too attached doesnât help anyone, I guessâ he answered. And for some reason, you could empathize. Now more than ever.
âTrue...â you agreed, looking at him. However, that warmth you carried for him was also enlarged, and suddenly emotion overpowered logic.
âI know this is the corniest youâve heard alwaysâŠ.â you paused, ââŠbut when the right person comes along...itâs so worth itâ you continued, taking a deep, shaky breath, ââŠeven if your heart gets broken into millions...billions of piecesâ
Your eyes locked onto his with every word you uttered, and to your surprise, he did not look away. For a moment, his gaze on you translated into deep belief. For a Moment, his gaze dismissed every other occupant in the restaurant, Â except you. For a moment his silence proved that anything was possible.
Until you realized, never was life that easy.
âBut like I saidâŠâ You added, blinking away the heavy stare, â... itâs not your problemâ You said, fiddling with your clutch purse mindlessly.  âActually I-â âWhoops!â You sniggered when the clutch purse dropped out of your hand. Laughing together, you both found yourselves bending down to search for it.
âLet Me get that-â Bruce volunteered, as he spotted the purse, grabbing it for you.
âThank youâ You murmured shyly, reaching out your hand to take it.
The mere act of a clutch purse being transferred from one hand to another never felt this intense. A circus act commenced inside your stomach all the sudden. The manner you found yourself blushing, certainly proved his effect as a whole. The warmth of his palm earlier, it brought protection and comfort in the time of danger. However, the slightest brush of his fingers just now, it birthed confetti of butterflies, causing the internal circus to go berserk.
As he looked you up and down, you prayed he did not notice the red on your cheeks. For this man had such power over you, it was sheer chaos. But a beautifully, addictive one.
âYour Dress...â he breathed, making your own breath shake, âYou look very-â âBruce!â A seductive voice emerged out of the blue, as you realized it was his date walking over to his side. Being one of Gothamâs most well known supermodels, she exuded beauty with her tall and thin frame and brunette locks flowing down her shoulders. Wrapping her goddess-like arms around his neck, she whispered a few words to him before heading over to the restroom area. Compared to her, you felt like a little cinder block. âSheâs beautiful...â you muttered hoarsely, looking down at your wine. You heard him sigh uncomfortably. âListen...â Bruce began, causing your heart to long for hope, âI-â âWould you like anything else, Sirs?â The emotional roller coaster unexpectedly finished its ride when an over enthusiastic waiterâs loud voice caused everyone in the table to look up. âNo, Thank you...â Fox said, slowly getting up, âActually, I think might head home nowâ âAnd I will join youâ You said, standing up in a flash, âLadies, Gentleman...â you nodded to the Heads, â...Mr. Wayneâ Giving him a slight nod, you turned to follow Lucius Fox. You dared not turn back to see his face. That would just show weakness. Just walk away, it was the right thing to do. The longer you will linger, the stronger your attachment will be. The stronger your need to love him will be. And what would be the use of strengthening that existing love, when the odds were always in the way?
Seduced by the women with the highest standards of beauty and power, you obviously must seem like nothing for a man such as he. You were simply charity, the employee in need. Perhaps your ex was right, You really were no fun.
Besides, being jealous was never your right, not especially when you did not even pour your heart out. And when you would not even consider doing so, being tied to morals, ethics and rules?
And if he even had not shown you his own heart, what gave you the right to be angry with anyone, except yourself?
You asked yourself, why were you wasting your time?
Allisonâs eyes grew wide with excitement the moment you arrived home.
Clutching onto her bowl of popcorn, she watched you close the door and lean against it to look back at her. Though her hair was in a messy bun, she still managed to pull off âhomely coolâ.
âSo...â she began softly, âHow did it go?â Silent, You took a deep breath, not knowing where to begin. âWell-â â-Did you make Wayne cream his pants?â Allison cut you off with glee, seemingly over excited. Jaw dropped, your face contorted with disgust. âAli! âŠewwwâ You exclaimed, seeing her perverted expression and suggestive eyebrows. Truthfully the thought of it brought some laughter soon after. You felt calmer. âWell, did he?â Allison was persistent. Pushing yourself from the door, you began to take off your shoes, âWellâŠâ You paused, âI think he liked what he sawâ you said smiling shyly. âYeah?â Her excitement still intact, as you sat next to her.
âI think soâŠâ you said, reminiscing those precious moments his blessed eyes watched only you, ââŠbutâŠâ you paused, âit doesnât matterâŠâ, Sighing, you shook your head frantically, ââŠcause he was with a Supermodel tonight so...â âSupermodel? Sweetie, Iâm sorryâ laying her head on your shoulder, Allison sighed in response. Patting her on the lap, you got up. Just like that, the little giddy excitement between two women suddenly crashed and burned upon knowing they were hopeless going against a supermodel.
âHey! by the wayâŠâ Allison began, ââŠdid you give money for Mrs. Hernandezâs going away party?â
You froze.
âShit!â You cried out, â I forgot!â
Mrs. Hernandez was one of the lovely tenants in the apartment building who will be moving out this week to go live with her son. All tenants were supposed to pool in for the going away party, today being the deadline. Opening your purse with haste, you groaned. âDamn it! I donât have any change...â Of course you did not. Not when you gave away your last note to Clara yesterday. With the current use of cards and e-payment, you rarely used cash these days.
âMe neither, Sweetieâ Allison replied, mindlessly staring at the television. You sighed. Transferring the money will not do as it wont be convenient for the others. And being a bad tenant was the last thing on your mind.
âScrew it!â You said, âIâll just go get some nowâ Â Running to your room, you proceeded to change.
âCoolâŠâ Allison uttered quietly, until she remembered, âBy the way, can you also get milk?âAllison yelled to your room,  âWEâRE OUT ALREADY!!â
If wearing an elegant dress brought out the glamorous woman in you, then leggings and an oversized black hoodie brought out the homebody. With the hood over your head, you dug your hands in the deep pockets whilst standing at the line for the ATM. What was taking so long?
Almost 11pm, yet the neighborhood was bustling more than usual. In fact, it fascinated you. Younger folk in higher numbers lingered hanging about by the Bodega. You wondered if a party was taking place somewhere nearby, as most of them wore clothes with a similar vibe. Some danced to the loud music that played, some drank sitting on the pavement, while some lined up in front of you in the ATM line. Was it a party? Or a flashmob? Or were you suddenly intruding the filming of a music video? It simply seemed so unrealistic. Could it be the sake and wine were forcing you to imagine all this?
Then moment your phone started to ring, you knew you were not imagining. Not when the phone vibrated in your hand, not when the name of the caller caused you to breath deeply.
âMr.Wayne?â
His breath over the phone sent shivers down your spine so subtly. Attraction was indeed a strange phenomenon.
âHey! Did you go home okay?âÂ
He asked. Nodding, you looked around.
âOf course.â You replied, âMr. Fox was kind enough to drop me straight homeâ
âGood. Good,â As he muttered in a rush, you heard him exhale, â Listen, can we talk? â
Nervousness took you over with a sudden burn in your face. What must he wish to say? Was he attempting to confirm what you already dread about? Was he fully acknowledging your desires to be futile and hopeless? You kept quiet as he continued:
âAbout tonightâŠI really-â he paused, âWhere are you?â The loud cheers of some of the younger folk interrupted the conversation. Amongst the crowd, a lone figure walked over to the middle of the street.
âIâm at the Bodega nearby my placeâ you replied, trying to be nonchalant with him. However, somehow that lone figure standing managed to capture your attention, "Huh! Strange...â
âWhat is it?â
Your eyebrows furrowed the moment the figure turned to face your direction. Familiarity was quite strong in him. âThereâs this guy hereâŠâ you said, â⊠who looks just like-â
You froze, âOh no!â You breathed.
The moment the figure effortlessly pulled out a portable machine gun from his oversized long coat, it clearly dawned on you on who he really was:
âMr. Slender?â You muttered to yourself.
Pointing the weapon upwards, loud and rapid shots were fired, causing panic amongst the public. The shock forced your hands to lose control, almost dropping your phone to the ground.
âHello? Hello?â
You heard Bruce loud and clear, yet you were not in the right state of mind to respond. The chaos, certainly forced your heart to beat right out of your chest. The beating, increased without any prior announcement shocked you, as if the live, blood pumping organ might literally fall out of your flesh vessel.
âEVERYBODY ON THE GROUND, NOW!â
Mr.Slender bellowed, finally revealing his masculine and controlled voice. The public, including those inside the Bodega made their way to the ground. With Mr. Slenderâs reinforcements inside the building, it was made sure no one were to reach out for law enforcement any time soon. Just when it seemed all had complied to his command, one obstinate young man rose up quickly.
âHey man!â The man cried out, walking over to him, âBe coolâŠBe-â
âI SAID ON THE GROUND!â
Blood curdling screams erupted from the crowd when Mr.Slender brutally fired at the man, sending him flying back, falling on to the ground like a bloody piece of meat. Given the continuous reactions from the people nearby, he was certainly dead. Emptiness and fear swallowed you whole upon witnessing this.
âDONâT EVEN THINK OF BEING STUBBORN!! â
Mr.Slender yelled out, brandishing his gun around, âMY DEMANDS ARE SIMPLE...â
He continued, âIâM LOOKING FOR ONE PARTICULAR PERSONâŠâ he said, âAND I WILL NOT LEAVEâŠUNTIL THAT PERSON STEPS FORWARD!!â
Scenes such as these, they were never expected but only imagined in modes of fiction. Be it novels or films. However, when you truly got to taste it in the rusty reality, only then did you realize the gravity of its horror. And only then at that fateful moment, did you genuinely fear for your precious life.
Especially when the person he was looking for, was you.
