Becket and The Lion in Winter exist independently of each other (different playwrights from different countries), but with Peter O’Toole playing Henry II in both films, The Lion in Winter feels a bit like a sequel to Becket, and it adds a tragic element as a result.
Becket contains a few scenes between Henry II and the future Henry III. Henry shows no affection for his son in those scenes. He only berates him, and he literally kicks his ass. In The Lion in Winter, the son who would have been crowned Henry III is dead. Henry mentions visiting the crypt where his son is buried, and his surviving sons are wounded by his neglect and his obvious favor towards their late brother. But because of the physical and verbal abuse he inflicts in Becket, it doesn’t seem like favoritism at all.
He never cared for any of his children. Henry was simply the firstborn.

I just had a thought about Hiryuu and the Dragon Gods’ “love” for him. Was that really love?
I was surprised that Hiryuu, one of the five dragon gods, did not know ANYTHING about this prophecy and its meaning. AND he did not know why they gave him the sword and the “shield”. Who if not him should know all that? Isn’t it strange?
It was said that the four dragon gods wanted Hiryuu to come back to the skies. But he denied, since he didn’t want to be a god, but a person. What if it angered them? This would mean, they never blessed him or “gifted” him with anything. Instead, they cursed him and his whole bloodline, leaving them to suffer with short lives and painful deaths. Not only that, they also cursed the four special people they chose to become the dragon warriors.
Throughout the manga, multiple characters stated that the dragon powers seem more like a curse than a blessing. Maybe that’s in fact what it is. None of the four dragons or their ancestors had a happy life. Should anything even be said about Soowon, his mother and their blood relatives?
But! The Dragon Gods still love Hiryuu and want him to return to the skies. So this riddle of a prophecy, the chalice, sword, shield and Yona, Hiryuu’s reincarnation, are the key elements to lift it. The last part of the prophecy “and the Crimson Dragon shall return at dawn” might be about Hiryuu’s soul finally returning to the skies.

I cannot remember if i’ve already said this or not, but I can’t stop thinking about how gL Ranboo had literally no chance in my opinion.
Like I’m guessing if he took the key and left the warehouse in episode 2, they would’ve just gone into another episode like episodes 1 and 2, and the cycle of making the right choices to “escape” would’ve kept going until he finally listened to Hetch and became semi self aware, leading to the finale.
This character had no chance for survival, and even if he was let live in the Live or Die choice, we would’ve gone right back to episode 1 and tried again.
They were a puppet specifically for entertainment purposes, and kept going and going until he died.

the tradwife movement is the same as it has always been - back in the kitchen, back to breeding - it just has better branding.
when i was younger, i hated pink. i was not like other girls. this is now something i'm embarrassed of - this was not me being a "girl's girl."
but it was expressing something many of us felt at the time: i literally wasn't what girlhood was supposed to be. this is a hard thing to explain, but you know when you're not performing girlhood correctly. it isn't as easy as "i liked x when girls liked y" - because there were other girls that liked x, too - but i never figured out exactly the correct way to like x, or to be interested in y.
now there is the divine feminine. this is the same rhetoric it has always been: women are biologically driven to like pink and ribbons and submitting to our husbands.
the problem is that the patriarchy found a better PR team. because yes, actually, i want every woman to have the choice to be a homemaker. i also want her taken seriously for her legitimate home-making labor. i want her to be recognized as also having a job, just unpaid. i want men to have this opportunity, too.
but it is no longer "i made this choice and I love it." instead it is a sixteen-paragraph rant about how selfish it is that my generation isn't having kids. instead it's long videos about how if you feed your children processed foods, you're going to kill them. instead it is "this is what womanhood is supposed to be. i feel bad for any other choices you're making."
the shame spiral is just prettier. it is large houses devoid of personality. it is the implication: if you don't have this, you aren't happy. the solid, everlasting assurance: women are actually supposed to be submitting. this is the default. this is the natural state of things. all other attempts inflict suffering.
but you can no longer say i'm not like other girls. you can no longer reject this image completely. you cannot find it revolting, even if you know that the underbelly is toxic and festering. sure, it is the same repackaged patriarchy. but the internet does not have shades of grey. you should support and reward other women! your disgust is actually internalized misogyny. not because you are seeing a vision of yourself the way they're trying to train you to be. not because you feel her ghost pass within an inch of your earlobe. not because your father will eventually ask you - why can't you be like her?
because they figured out how to make it beautiful: women will sell other women on this idea, and we will find the singular loophole in feminism. sure, she's shaming you in most of her videos. sure, she implies that a different life is obscene. but she just wants you to be happy! you'd be happier if you were listening!
and the whole time you're sitting there thinking: i'd actually just be happier if i had that kind of money.

Crocodile finds a strange stray cat an 11-year old Nico Robin (AU where they met 13 years earlier. Robin's been on the run from the World Government for 3 years. Crocodile's 27 and has not set up base in Alabasta yet)
It seems like I have become possessed. By some sort of demon.

only thing i know for certain is that if "breaking bad" took place during modern times, jesse would've used his cash to buy a drone and there would've been a sick ass sequence filmed from drone perspective and one episode cold open would've been all scary and sinister and it would end with an ominous shot of the drone laying all crushed and fucked up on the floor to imply harm done to jesse. and it would be really sad

Remember how Miss Pauling said she'd spent her whole life to help the administrator....
She didn't even know what she was helping with, but she wanted to be by her side, until she learned how deeply personal and self destructive the whole thing was... and in the end there never was going to be a 'place' set for her :^(
