Being a Gen 5 fan and seeing countless people being so negative about it feels exactly like this image

#ok I wanna make one thing clear: I don’t care if you don’t like the new generation because that’s your opinion and it’s valid #the generation has some flaws that bring it down and some of the character designs could be better #but sometimes I feel like a lot of the hate for the show is built off of people simply liking Gen 4 better #and like fine I understand that. Gen 4 is one of my favorite gens #but if you dislike Gen 5 because of that…you could just not acknowledge it?#it’s fine to have opinions on stuff because I sure do but I find that the best way of going about stuff like this is #is to just…not give a shit about it #idk I’m probably just peddling nonsense at this point lol #people are free to have their own opinions on this matter as long as they remain respectful #this is sort of a vent because the amount of absolute fucking hatred I would see on Pinterest while looking at Gen 5 pins is just… good god #might delete this later might not #cw rant #tw rant #< just to be safe #mlp gen 5

Here’s my take on the whole audio books vs. reading:

Oral tradition of storytelling predates written ones by millennias, and honestly, which one you like is just a personal preference.

The actual difference is

when listening, you have no idea how to write characters’ names

when reading, you have no idea how to pronounce characters’ names

No shade to OP as a person but believe me, this is a sign that something is DEEPLY fucking broken. Like they announced ONE new IP out of like eight films. I genuinely think within the decade they're just gonna stop making original films all together. That's what they learned from Elemental and Wish, just don't make anything new if you can help it.

Like they've unironically turned into what people pretend Dreamworks is, a sequel mill. The real downside is that Dreamworks actually knows how to make a good sequel, Disney never really figured that one out, bar a couple of outliers, and I have no faith in them pulling any of these off. Absolutely soul-crushingly pathetic. Thank god other animation studios exist.

This is the saddest shit I've ever seen, truly.

If I could go to college without debt I would make it my job to get a degree in every little thing that interested me. I'd get a doctorate in film studies. I'd have a bachelor's degree for every science I like. I'd try to learn at least 5 languages with varying results. I would learn something "useful" like coding and then follow it up with a ""useless"" degree like art history. I'd be the world record speed run holder for getting every degree possible.

But I can't afford college without going into massive debt, so instead I spent the last 5 years trying to figure out what I am passionate enough about to consider going into debt over, because unfortunately being passionate about everything is extremely expensive to pursue.

we need to abolish the idea that ancient greek myths and legend have a coherent timeline. they do not. for any given myth there are like 10 heroes mentioned that feasibly could not have been adults or even alive. herakles keeps showing up in places where he should probably be dead. anyone could be a suitor of helen. even herakles. even theseus if you count that kidnapping stint he did. nestor is alive for 10 billion years. time is fake and anything beyond vague generational outlines is conjecture
