Valeera, chosen of Lolth. The Great Deceiver. Conqueror of the Tower of Madness. Kingkiller. Worldrender.
Evil group mom. Great party guest.
The commission arrived just in time for the end of her campaign, at which point she led Lolth's troops on an unholy crusade, and tore her world asunder. She now governs several world shards, which she has transformed into her own personal utopia.
Commission for @Yami-Musume of their sultry dark elf!
#the evil group mom has finally retired#val#irl campaign#the outfit is from a ball she attended before everything went to hell :)#character art#commission#drow

i can't even be mad that the "[x] is such a raw quote you'd think it was from shakespeare" meme was originally used to make fun of me for a cringe post i made a few years ago when everyone hated my guts and i was battling an episode because it's so funny
#🐉#do i have ptsd from years of harassment campaigns on top of irl bullying? yes. but i also have funny joke.#like genuinely. im really glad its not About Me anymore and its just something people can laugh at. i can laugh at it!

never forget the instant karma Our Flag Means Death got for killing off the best character in the show in the season 2 finale and then instantly getting cancelled. absolute justice.
#ofmd#i am here to stir the pot#izzy hands#the way it was so funny to see the fandom lose their minds and PAY money to fund an irl ad campaign on behalf of the show#and i had checked tf out the moment i heard that they shucked him#randomly thought of this ye lol

Not quite foaming at the mouth because my character in that game is too refined, but let me tell you about Türion, pronounced like Tyrion. (I hope you are fine with blorbos from our ttrpgs).
Türion is a talking door (the name is a pun because a door in German is called Tür). We met Türion in a hidden passage of a manor of rich people - we wanted to nab some books from the manor library, and our rogue had found out about the hidden passage. It was there we met Türion blocking our path, depressed as all hell, as they were originally friends with the kids of the manor (the path beyond led into a treehouse), but since they'd grown up, nobody had been down in the hidden path.
When we talked about the outside world, Türion got really excited and lamented being stuck there, as it would've loved to see the outside world. So, in a ploy to get the door to open quietly, the party offers to take Türion on an adventure. Now you need to know, the party is evil-aligned, and it's pretty clear they're just saying that because it basically guarantees free passage, and what is the door gonna do if we don't keep our word?
But. This awakens something that has long-since been slumbering in my drow warlock, Val. She remembers what she would've given as a kid to see the sunlight. She's eventually made it to the surface, sure, but she's had to fight tooth and nail to get where she is today, and this kid door has no way to do even that. It's pathetic. So she decides she's gonna keep the party's promise, even if she has to do it by herself.
We get past, break in, get out. Val insists on keeping the door. We manage to finangle it off it's hinges and transport it out through the canals. We almost get eaten by a kraken in the way out, but we make it. We give Türion it's name, since it never had one.
At first Türion is just dragged along with the rest of the equipment, hidden under blankets and in hotel rooms, cause they're a talking door and that is weird and we can't afford the weird looks if we want to take over the world eventually. Val brings Türion little souvenirs, maps and carvings and tourist chaff during their travels. She buys geography books to read as good night stories to the door.
We leave behind the island we were on since we kinda caused a zombie apocalypse, and take Türion with us.
Eventually, this hiding and all is not good enough for the party anymore. The rogue and the sorcerer build a wagon that lacks a wall so we can slide Türion into it, and they can see the world for themselves. We travel with the Türion-wagon through elven forests, through dwarven mines. Through a black desert where we steal ancient artifacts from an inverted pyramid and have a thrilling chase Ben Hur style through the desert. Türion is part of our getaway wagon, and sees so much.
But. This. Is. Still. Not. Good. Enough.
Because we always need to leave Türion behind when we go into a dungeon or on a mission. But, fear not. Val comes across an illicit seller of all kinds of goods, and finds a shield in his possession - apparently, it had once belonged to a very vain individual that had his own portrait (or maybe a mirror, I don't remember exactly) installed on a hinge on his shield, so he could admire himself. Val buys it, we rip out the old door, and adjust it so we can put Türion on the hinges instead.
New problem. There has been a shift in the party composition and neither the rogue, nor the sorcerer, or the warlock can actually carry shields.
I take a damn cleric level so I can finally get shield proficiency and carry my door child everywhere (also it fit thematically as Val was gaining more of her patron's favor).
Finally. We can go whereever with Türion.
Tldr: My warlock became a cleric to take the most inconsequential, niche NPC, her talking door child on a sightseeing trip around the world while the party strives for world domination.
Tell me about the most niche incidental side character that makes you foam at the mouth
#I don't think the GM realized what he was doing when he introduced Türion to us#but it's been a blast#irl campaign#val#türion

You know I’m in an interesting position regarding the Bard Lament change
On one hand, I’m straight up not as attached to Bard’s Lament as everyone else in the fandom seems to be
Sure it was a dramatic moment with some great acting from Sam… but it was also very nasty and visceral in a way that the rest of the show isn’t and it really never gets addressed properly
Also I feel like the whole fandom always simplifies it as “poor little guiltless Scanlan finally standing up to everyone else who are evil bullies to him all the time for no reason”
All this to say, if you had told me months ago that they were removing Bard’s Lament, I would have been surprised but not upset
However after seeing the whole season… damn I really do feel they squandered some AMAZING set up for it
They show Scanlan constantly leaving Vox Machina behind and when he does horrible things happen to them, things that could’ve objectively been avoided by his presence AND HE NEVER EXPLAINS HIMSELF
They are about to execute Percy while Scanlan has a literal magical key to stop it and they find him passed out drunk, vomiting on the street… and nobody said anything to him about it???
Percy then literally DIES in a battle he left them for, like… it would’ve been 100% understandable if in her grief Vex would’ve cursed Scanlan off and blamed him for Percy’s death.
Then also Keyleth is mad at everyone about Raishan, Vax is self isolating because of his raven bull shit and only cares about Vex, and then Pike rejects his love AGAIN
That is literally the perfect storm of circumstances for Scanlan not feeling part of a family, resentment and animosity and a blow out… and they just didn’t??
They could’ve use the fact that only Pike and Grog cared enough to stay by his side during his comma, and nobody else seemed even a little worried about him? No?
Okay
Not as upset as I’m sure a lot of others are going to be, but definitely underwhelmed… which is not a feeling you want to be left with in a season finale
#you know I always had a conspiracy theory that Bard’s Lament was actually kinda of an awkward moment irl#and Sam particularly did not like it#based on how Scanlan behaved after he came back#but thats always been based on nothing but vibes#Now I wonder…#critical role#cr#critical role spoilers#the legends of vox machina spoilers#tlovm season 3#vox machina#campaign 1#scanlan shorthalt

#I've played with irl atheists and catholics and everything in between#but it rarely feels like faith is a real factor for anyone-- DM or player#outside of‚ again‚ divine spellcasters and Big Epic Plot Things#I mean there are a couple of 'RAAAHGH FUCK THE GODS >:C' edgy backstory types but#no one is just Normally Culturally Religious and it's WEIRD#like it's not even a matter of faith in dnd! the gods are LITERALLY OBJECTIVELY PROVABLY REAL#so what does that MEAN for the average person! how does it shape language? business? culture?#where are the people wearing holy symbols like amulets-- or the way modern christians very casually wear crosses?#blessings over meals? prayers before bed? burnt offerings?#and like I enjoy thinking about world and culture building but I know that's A Whole Thing but even just like...#it doesn't feel like anyone believes in gods at all except clerics and paladins#like they DO because they factually exist but in the same way I 'believe in' like. the president of france.#like yeah he exists and is important to some people but has no bearing on my life whatsoever#that's such a fucking weird approach to the DIVINE in a polytheist world where those gods are YOUR CULTURE'S GODS??#I am bad at this myself but I'm not religious so it's harder for me to remember what Being Religious All The Time Casually is like lol#funny enough my character with the most intentionally religious background in this sense#is one of my ones who's ended up wrapped up in Big Plot God Things lmao#'aubree starts the campaign with a holy symbol of yondalla because of course she does why wouldn't she'#'oh okay well she's gonna get deeply and personally entangled with a bunch of death gods immediately' fdkjghkdf oh!! welp#you don't really pray to urogalan unless you're breaking ground for a new building or someone just died so it's STILL weird for her lol#but at least I had the framework there of 'oh yeah the gods exist and matter to me and my everyday life and culture' in general#about me#posts from twitter

Despite charisma being a pretty important stat for paladins, Paul has no charisma in the base plot. So I decided it would be really funny to have him have super low charisma in game, too.
So the whole "roll a save" in town is because Karen and Paul want to visit a tavern for info and Chris thinks it would only be fair to bully Pauladin with an NPC version of his hot bartender depending on the save.
#my characters#oops i fell in love#because in the base plot not dnd au he first meets his crush in a bar where he hits him with a bathroom door#and then is too embarrassed at hitting a hot guy in the face with a door that he just leaves without apologizing#and then hot guy works there so he is like i literally committed assault on an employee and ran thats illegal#and then paul makes his friends suffer an eternity of pining over a hot bartender who is CLEARLY out ofhis league#but since they arent actually as close irl and since the dnd au is based on the trio actually playing a silly campaign#chris is like well you can hit this really hot npc bartender in the face cause youre charisma roll was garbage#and paul is just agonizing bc thats mean why are you like this why do you do this to me#while karen is beaming and saying HOT BARDTENDER HOT BARDTENDER and right does feel kinda bad but also well deserved

How do you feel about getting cheated like the title Echoes of Wisdom??
Like Zelda version of EoC
I wouldn’t exactly say I was cheated. I mean, it is a bit different, but it’d also be a lie to say that I’m not at least a little disappointed about it. I’m willing to change the title of this AU later if it becomes a problem, but I’m keeping it for now.
On the other hand, this just makes me think that an Echoes of Power would be the worst adventure in existence. Imagine the main Ganon, whatever’s going on with FSA Ganon, the wind twink who served the second guy, and whatever other minions they pick up along the way…. trying to camp. A forest has been burned to the ground. Someone will end up dead by the end of it. There’s a dark Link messing something up somewhere. No one knows who summoned him, but he sure is there. They all hate the same guy but that guy is different reincarnations of the same kid. Worst family road-trip ever.
#echoes of courage#loz au#legend of zelda#eoc asks#also I was planning a Zelda D&D campaign to run in like a year or so for my irl friends#and echoes of wisdom has such a similar mechanic to what I was going to give to my Link#at least that campaign is still a bit different. ah what a hassle though#but hey none of my players are Zelda nerds and only one has actually played a Zelda game so I still get to fuck around and find out
