Very intentional, yes! It’s part of the joke, or reference, or whatever you want to call it, especially since it’s not exactly a voluntary thing on Collector’s part. Anything to make the usually unflappable Heroes of Legend stop and stammer :))

Mask was more outspoken during the war than he is now, but that might just be that he’s gotten used to loneliness as a teenager. Commander—Captain, back then—played a large part in helping Mask adjust from Termina, even though neither of them ever asked for a brother. Pirate was also a part of their merry band, much to the captain’s chagrin about another child being on the battlefield.

I think I saw this in one of your doodles but I wonder if Collector reminds Artisan of Ravio sometimes? Some characteristics I’ve seen on Collector’s design reminds me of your Ravio one and I thought it was interesting

I keep forgetting that Collector has a rabbit cloak. Artisan certainly didn’t forget.

To be honest, there’s not a ton in common between Ravio and Collector. Any design similarities would be because they’re both connected to Artisan, and fashion didn’t change too much in the century between them. That does not mean that Artisan is not very confused trying to figure out the connection between the rabbit hoods.

So is Mask the only one semi aware of Shadow’s existence?

About that… I was playing around with ideas at the time and can’t really say when that doodle would happen, if at all. At the time that Forge joins Echoes of Courage, Shadow is not with him, so obviously Mask can’t know about him. As for later, I haven’t yet decided on what to do exactly with Shadow’s introduction, so there’s a chance Mask might not find out on his own at all. Out of everyone, though, I’ll say that he and Farmer are most likely to notice something is off if Shadow does decide to lurk in Forge’s shadow. It’s safe to assume that no one knows until shown otherwise in the comic as it goes along.

One thing that always confused me about Midna’s appearance in Hyrule Warriors is that she’s still in her cursed imp form wearing the Fused Shadow, which means she would’ve had to be drawn into the War of Ages during the events of Twilight Princess, after meeting Link, since she talks about him. And she’s present in Twilight Princess pretty much the whole time. Is this just a glaring plot hole or did the War of Ages just take everyone for what was only a split-second in their times? If this was explained in the game itself ignore this; I never played it so I don’t know.

Yeah it’s in the game. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a playthrough, so I could be wrong about some of this, but I think they explain it away as Midna got stuck in the form again due to evil shenanigans, which is why she’s post-TP and has the wolf imitation with her. They have a stage where she transforms back into her original form because it’s in the Twilight Realm. But also Hyrule Warriors is the fun little non-canon fan indulgence time travel game, so why not use the more recognized form, and who cares?

Does Piper know who Ganon/Ganondorf is or does he sit in a similar boat with Cloudy in which both of them just nod their head each time the guy’s name is mentioned

Yes.

At least they’re not alone, unlike Archer, who doesn’t know what a triforce is. Or Scout, who doesn’t know what the master sword is. At least Forge has heard about it.

oughh I would absolutely love to see all the designs for the eoc zeldas!! your last post made me pick at artisan’s Zelda’s design for like 10 minutes she’s so pretty!! And do you have any chosen names for each Zelda?

Awww thank you!! Some of the Zelda designs are still changing in my mind, and the deisgns I do have have very messy lines, so unfortunately no, I cannot post any designs yet apart from what’s shown up in art so far. They’ll show up in the comic eventually, though. And no, I don’t have names yet. I’d like to, but it’s just not super high on my priority list at the moment.

Ahaha tbh that was entirely because I went “you know what would be funny?” and made Pirate divorced. But there were no hurt feelings in it, and since Tetra is the law, there weren’t any complicated legal procedures. Pirate is asexual, and Tetra is probably aromantic (I haven’t exactly written out every Zelda’s information yet, so this is up for change), so, ya know. They probably could’ve done without the divorce, but when there are no consequences for either of them, why not? They’re happy living separate lives and maintaining their friendship.

Side note: Tetra has imposed a “little shit” tax on Pirate, but he doesn’t pay his taxes anyway so it doesn’t bother him.

Do you have any headcanons for blood relations between your links besides just the regular canon of farmer and mask?

👀 Yes, actually. Artisan and his Zelda are cousins. This makes them related to both Cloudy and Collector.

Not pictured: Artisan demanding to know if the weird old man in Kakariko who gave him his house is actually related to him, and Zelda asking if that’s where her great grandfather disappeared off to. Said old man does not answer any questions thrown at him and finds it all incredibly funny. Some villagers thought they already knew about the relation.

Artisan is very good friends with Zelda, and they already treated each other like siblings after the events of albw, so this information won’t actually change too much about them.

This was actually inspired by the theory that the hero of legend is siblings with Zelda, except I kinda wanted Collector to be with his Zelda in the future. So instead the blood relation went to his successor, and now I’m very attached to them.

Are any of the links in any relationships??? I know some of them are obvious like Forge and Shadow (and Scout and his Zelda (I think)) but what about the others?

The majority of them are not in a relationship at the moment, but some will have something in their futures, whether it be during the events of Echoes of Courage or much later.

Cloudy: dating his Zelda

Forge: dating Shadow

Mask: not really in a place to be in a relationship right now

Farmer: despite settling back into his life, his emotions still confuse him. May be open to a relationship in the relatively near future

Commander: Single. Aroace with no interest in any relationship, especially not after the war.

Pirate: ……I’ll just say for now that he is amicably divorced with Tetra. They’re still best friends.

Piper: crushing on his Zelda. This is obvious to anyone who sees them interact

Collector: not in a space to be in a relationship right now. The memory of Marin is still a bit too fresh for him

Artisan: Single and okay with it

Scout: Dating one of his Zeldas

Archer: Has some sort of unlabelable relationship with his Zelda. Also maybe Sidon. No one really knows what’s going on, but they’re happy.

i think i remember seeing in an earlier post something about ravio and artisan’s relationship and i have just got to wonder is their relationship strictly platonic here or was there something more between the two of them ?? or is there a secret 3rd option where neither of them know and basically never will (unless..?)

i know you probably left it vague on purpose lol but just to satiate my curiosity I’ll ask

I was wondering if this would get asked! It’s mostly the third option. Artisan loves Ravio very much, but as for what type of love he feels... that is unspecified.

Artisan falls into the category of heroes who were unfortunately old enough to comprehend the horrors of their adventure while they were going through it, and before then, his life was pretty mundane. He worked with the blacksmith’s family, hung out sometimes with the village’s old man (which is incidentally how he knows how to swing a sword rather than just make one), and the biggest threat to life was a bee in a bush or an octorok on the road. And then Lorule happened, and his only real anchor amidst the chaos and the missing people was the purple rabbit guy who took over his house because he didn’t have the heart to say no.

Like with Farmer and Midna, everything happening was far too much of a whirlwind for him to really define what any of it meant. They were certainly friends, of a sort, and despite falling prey to his renting policies, Ravio made sure that Artisan was alright, and that meant the world to him. As for whether there were any romantic feelings, that wasn’t a thought Artisan had until much later, when it was far too late to ask about it.

Artisan is definitely pining for Ravio, but whether that’s platonic or romantic, even he isn’t sure. He hasn’t even seen the man in three years. All he knows is that he cares very much.

Last but not least of the November birthday gauntlet—November 22nd, the release date of A Link Between Worlds, Artisan’s first adventure.

While Artisan was certainly an inspiration for Ravio finding his own courage, Ravio had his own influence on Artisan. For one thing, Artisan was much quieter and more withdrawn before meeting his counterpart.

Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past were released on the same day—November 21.

Mask and Collector actually have quite a bit in common, apart from being the same age. Life thus far hasn’t been kind to them, but it is love for the land and people around them that keeps them going.
