I've talked a lot about hyperandrogenism in NCAH and PCOS, and since those are most commonly diagnosed in people who were AFAB, here's a list of some variations more commonly found in people who were AMAB:
Micropenis or chordee
Ambiguous genitalia
Gynecomastia (more breast tissue)
Hypospadias and epispidias where the urethral opening is not in its 'usual' location on the glans
Hypoandrogenism, low levels of hormones like testosterone
Hyperestrogenism, high levels of estrogens
Undescended testicle/testes (aka cryptorchidism), where the testicle/testes does not descend into the scrotum
These are often intersex traits and are commonly part of larger variations; you can find a good glossary of intersex variations here.

My sex is not my gender identity.
Thoughts of the day: Not all intersex people are nonbinary. Not all intersex people use “intersex” to define their physiology. Some do, and some do not. Some like being called “hermaphrodite,” and some do not. I’m a hermaphrodite. I’m okay with being called a hermaphrodite. My physiology is intersex. My chromosomes are intersex. My hormones are intersex. Intersex is beautiful, but it’s…

I just have to say that it's so weird reading how transphobes think of trans bodies as mutilated and gross when they never would have thought my body pre-transition was worthy. The "argument" of mutilated beauty that transphobes have tossed around is just a fear mongering tactic, because they don't tend to actually love or appreciate and see value in bodies that don't "neatly" fit into male and female, with no overlap and no nuances.

wildest subset of people on this website are people who self identify as transfeminists who willfully forget basic principles of misogyny solely so they can hate on and minimize the struggles of transmascs

Before you make a post about how “oh well Michael Phelps doesn’t get kicked out for his physical advantage of [insert trait]” please check if you are about to say something ableist about a man with very notable and visible traits of disability. Ask yourself if calling one of the most well-known people with a marfanoid physique “freak of nature” is a normal and non-ableist thing to do. You can point out that his physical differences give him certain benefits, and you’re right, he isn’t banned for them, but holy shit stop being ableist.

Do you know what the category for terms like intersex and perisex is called?
Like how cis, trans, iso, etc. has gender modality / sex modality. It's like gender/sex modality in that it describes a specific relation to gender/sex, but unlike gender/sex modality, it's not about correspondence/transitioning and is just what a person is born with. And, typically anyways, those modalities aren't genders/sexes in it of themselves, like man/woman/nonbinary/etc. would be the actual gender, and cis/trans/iso/etc. is the relationship to said gender, but intersex/perisex kinda(?) are sexes.
Terms that fit, I guess, from what I know:
Sex characteristics (link): some jurisdictions use this term over just "sex" to encompass the legal protections intersex people have geolocally. For example, the term sex-based discrimination typically refer to sexism or misogyny, whereas sentences using this term, such as 'discrimination due to sex characteristics', could emphasize the inclusion of intersexism;
Sex traits ([w]; [x]; [y]; [z]): this is an alternative to sex characteristics
The term variations also appear, however, the term variations in sex characteristics (VSC) implies it refers to variance, so dyadic wouldn't be included. However, the terms "endosex variations" and "perisex variations" are in use by some.
Sexness/sexedness or sexuation/sexuatedness (from intersexness and intersexuation, meaning intersexedness) could be a thing, however they are mostly about the (cap)ability to reproduce sexually (sexedly)/sexedliness.
I'm not sure if people used the term "sex alignment" but this could also refer to multiple things contextually.
Sex identity is also used, however many would not see intersexness as solely identitary.
Edit: @queercripintersex reblogged with: Pretty sure I've seen "intersex status" used for this and depending on context may be a good option
Comment: I also saw @intersex-questions referring to altersex terms as sex labels, so that's an option, sounds more for hyponyms.

It’s kinda wild how some people who claim to be trans rights activists are so adamant about figuring out if someone is amab or afab. And then once they find out, they place you in the box of your assigned sex and completely disregard your actual identity.

transandrophobes: “testosterone actually makes your clitoris so nasty and big and gross and it’s soooo gross and weird and it feels weird too and it’s nothing like a penis and you’ll regret it immediately”
intersex ppl: “hi this is intersexist as fuck. some are us are literally born like that jackass”
transandrophobes: “oh but i didn’t mean it like that 🥺🥺🥺 intersex bodies are soooo beautiful!!! i would never insult your bodies!! only those nasty cuntboy bodies with the same traits as you! 😁”

there's lowkey a serious lack of transfem rep (even implied) in toh and it gets a little upsetting at times. the closest thing we have is hunter, who has a really strong transfem reading, but nothing is actually ever dropped in the show to outright suggest it. i even would've appreciated a pin on a background character or something, but there's just NOTHING. (that i'm aware of i don't generally examine background characters in much detail)
I guess

Hey we have been wanting to pick your brain abt Pcos if you are willing to share because we suspect we have it and we just wanna hear a first hand experience from someone with it, if you don’t wanna share it chill
- Blurry (snuff)
yup happy to talk about it !!
Our experience with PCOS and its symptoms
-We have extra body hair (mustache , extra pit hair, longer / thicker arm and leg hair, some chest hair, kinda-sideburns, hair/fuzz on cheeks, Unibrow and extra pubic hair)
-Hyperandrogenism , which is a common occurrence with PCOS
-Semi irregular periods (we usually do have one every month and they are always very painful but the time that they start is VERY inconsistent)
-While we don’t have any extra weight(We are a bit below weight, but that’s due to other medical problems) Most folks with PCOS have a lot of fat around thigh / lower stomach area ! But we do have problems loosing+gaining weight which is a big symptom of PCOS !!
-Acne around lips(like mustache area), Chin, and Back
(Add on note: this is just a very common general intersex trait but we do have tubular breasts/inverted nipples aswell)
Feel free to ask us specific questions about these things if you would like !!!

My dad is having the biggest uno reverse card of his life and he can’t handle it.
For context, my dad was never taught biology other than surface level estrogen = woman and testosterone = man
This is a gross oversimplification of the complex nature of biology, and to truly grasp how uneducated my father was, he hasn’t even heard of a punnet square and I had to teach him about it when I was younger
Despite this, my father acts like he’s an expert on biology and uses his aforementioned ”knowledge” to fuel his transphobic rhetoric.
He would call anyone that was outside his black and white box, a “freak”, “transvestite”, or “hermaphrodite”
Until after a blood test, they found that I had an abnormally high level of testosterone. Around the same as men, if not a little higher.
According to my dads logic, I’m a man. A man, pretending to be a woman. But he knows that’s not true, because I’m his daughter and he was there for my birth to know I wasn’t “pretending to be born a woman.”
So now his brain is doing mental gymnastics and frankly, let this be a lesson on what transphobia does

I really hope I'm not prying or anything, but what's up with anti neoagab discourse? I thought neoagab terms were made in mind for people who feel like they've always been a certain way? (Btw I mean all people, both perisex and intersex folk) you don't have to answer if you don't want to, and I sincerely hope I didn't make you uncomfortable or anything /gen
that is okay to ask, and any person more knowledgable on this is free to add on or correct me.
there was someone claiming that neoAGABs were disrespectful to intersex people, and that they were a rad//queer term, when it wasnt coined by one and was coined with people sick of being referred to as their agab in mind, rather than intersex people only.
neoagab, for all I care, can include people who feel theyve always been a certain way, but it was coined specifically to reclaim agab terminology enforced on us (like I feel like a disappointment by birth, because I was openly queer for so long, I call myself assigned f slur at birth, when someone asks me if Im amab or afab)
we didnt claim agab terminology from intersex people, it was enforced on us, by transphobes, cis people, etc, who misunderstood the point of agab terminology. I personally think we have a right to reclaim it because of that. I get intersex people being protective over their own terms because of shit like transintersex or whatever, but this is a different case and should be treated different accordingly. imo at least.
I hope this helps?

Radblr! I know people on here have rightfully brought up how trans activists use people with DSD’s as political pawns, but the alternative is not to do that ourselves, and only bring up them when we can use them to criticize trans activism. I see people do this a lot. Intersex people are regularly medically abused and there is a lack of knowledge of their DSD’s even among professionals.

Back, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and Intersex People: How the Invention of Two Binary Systems Do Harm
I wrote this term paper for my Critical Race Theory Class, which I took this summer, 2024, at Meadville Lombard Theological School while working on my Master of Divinity. My professor was Dr. Barbara Fears, a Black woman from Howard University School of Divinity, an accomplished religious educator, Chaplain, Scholar, and Professor. I proudly received an A for this paper, so I decided to publish…
