#I get that representation is important but if it doesn’t really add anything to the character then it can feel a bit…

there's lowkey a serious lack of transfem rep (even implied) in toh and it gets a little upsetting at times. the closest thing we have is hunter, who has a really strong transfem reading, but nothing is actually ever dropped in the show to outright suggest it. i even would've appreciated a pin on a background character or something, but there's just NOTHING. (that i'm aware of i don't generally examine background characters in much detail)
I guess

“Percy’s special”
Oh I’m not gonna make it.
Seeing this kind of bullying in tv (actual realistic bullying, most people won’t like, push you and hit you or anything, since that way they’ll get caught, so they keep it simple and nobody does anything because they don’t see it as bullying) just took me back to school and holy shit. The way Nancy Bobofit pronounces the word special, like if it was disgusting, I think that’s very important representation. Because we know Percy has adhd, of course we know, but in the later books this fact has been pushed aside. Rick doesn’t really add much adhd traits and struggles in his books compared to in his first book. And meanwhile I knew about Percy’s time in school, seeing it is so so different and it’s not often bullying is shown this way and seeing a story of a bullied character, who’s deemed weird and “special” who then goes and saves the world and has lots of friends and a romantic partner, that’s really important for kids. For kids and for me. I’ll shut up I’m sorry I just have lots of feelings about it like I get it percy, I get it.

Holy shit I love your Dirk interpretations, it's so true and I could talk about this shit forever. I feel like another part of his character that people seem to forget (along with Roxy for some reason) is that he's from the future in solitude in an apocalyptic wasteland. I just see that part of his character always removed which is disappointing because I feel like that's a pretty big part, especially regarding his themes around technology, his brother's theme of Time, his own isolation, and how he plays in the vastness of the universe and spacetime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Art I drew related to the subject because I like to respond to asks with art.
But absolutely. I certainly understand where the lack of discussion over his isolation + upbringing comes from, considering a majority of the fanbase that I have seen builds their ideas based on their own version of postcanon. I’m not entirely sure how that would be fixed, but certainly even in the somewhat recent past I would see a lot more content regarding his upbringing both literally and symbolically. I don’t have much to add regarding the things you’ve mentioned, because they just are what they are. Dirk being confined to a singular room left to him by a father figure he never met, in a future where the only other person left on the planet is someone he cannot pursue a relationship of because of himself, with purely 3 robots to keep him companion, one being an exact replica of his own brain who is *also* trapped inside a pair of glasses, is about as literal as it gets to me.
The contrast to me involving the flooded, organic world in comparison to the little speckle of Dirk’s apartment packed with the dude and his technics is not only a representation of his isolation and entrapment within himself, but also of his lack of control. I think his obsession with & themes of control are a direct product in the case of Dirk specifically *of* this kind of upbringing. His themes of technology are also related to his themes around control. So much of his character is actually revolved around this to me like so much. Dirk is so deeply disconnected from humanity in every way and so much of his character + symbolism is based around that.
It doesn’t even have to be about the symbolism or anything though. It’s just pretty *interesting* in the literal sense that he lives in the middle of the ocean in the future. There’s not only a lot to theorise on to do with his young life there, but on how it might affect him in the way he acts for the rest of his life. The latter part is probably what I see mentioned the most by people talking about Dirk regarding this, I’m surprised I don’t see more discussion on the former too though. I really ought to actually talk more about Homestuck stuff on here. I will do it myself.
Roxy & Dirk’s relationship is largely ignored though because there is a narrative a certain demographic spreads that Dirk resented and blamed Roxy for her interest in him, and thus too many people believe that their relationship was or would continue to be an abusive one. Realistically, I believe it’s important to acknowledge that the way Roxy treated Dirk regarding his homosexuality wasn’t right while still acknowledging the obvious amount of respect and admiration Dirk had for Roxy. I mean we have a huge piece of dialogue from their post trickster mode conversations on the quest beds from Dirk purely stating how he feels about Roxy that people completely ignore somehow. I think this usually happens to characters that are women though. I know everyone says it, but it is true. Jane gets the exact same treatment of boiling her down to solely her negative aspects. The things I see completely mischaracterising both of them are horrific.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean how much more explicit can it get that their relationship is obviously very important to Dirk? But I digress. I think the best or I should say “most interesting” interpretations of their relationship usually come from DirkRoxy shippers actually.
I would be interested to hear about Dirk’s relation to his brother’s theme of time though. I don’t have any thoughts on this and I don’t recall ever hearing anyone talk about it before. If you or anyone else would be willing to enlighten me I’d be thrilled.

it’s time
more thoughts about outsiders musical
not being a hater I loved the show
I don’t like the mischaracterization of dally I thought about it but it took away from one of the huge points in the book: dally being the greaser version of bob. Which is important to me bc not many seem to understand how if bob cannot be redeemed than neither can dally. They both had good moments but were not very good people. Dally did horrible things and people tend to forget it simply bc the actors who play him are all hot
in the same way getting rid of randy destroyed the comparison of randy and Johnny. Which got rid of pony and Randy’s conversations and the realization that they really couldn’t change much of anything no matter how hard they tried but Randy chose to try anyway because it was right
speaking of comparison pony and cherry are obviously each others counterparts. Shipping them to me is wrong btw. Maybe in ten years but ponyboy is barely 14 and she’s like 16-17 and ponyboy never showed interest in her other than understanding her bc they are both different. I disagree with cherryboy shippers bc come on a guy and a girl can have an intellectual conversation without romantic energy. This doesn’t really have to do with the show I just have opinions
I did appreciate Paul yes bring attention to how if the curtises had more money and if their parents hadn’t died Darry could have been someone big. Someone known. Someone the world considered important. And probably to the gang he represented the idea that a greaser could make it out there but then he didn’t and it crushed them a little so they tried to joke about ‘him going soc’ as a way to cope and it just alienated him even more since he now needed a full time job and to raise his brothers and to keep the house standing
I think they fed into the johnnyboy just a little too much. I love me a gay ship but come on, there’s something so beautiful about choosing family and that is what ponyboy and Johnny have. Can we shut up about the ship for one second and admire brothers who would go anywhere for each other, who would kill for each other or die for each other. Brothers who spoke without speaking. Platonic love is amazing and I loved their songs but I know the johnnyboy shippers are gonna be annoying af whenever I try to interact with the fandom. Like just because some people are queer doesn’t mean every character you like has to be queer. I know we as a community are underrepresented but if you want queer representation write a new story with queer characters, dont ruin the kinship of the curtises and Johnny cade
I loved throwing in the towel but I did not like how ponyboy sang in it too. The whole point is he is gone, and also the literal next song is the three brothers so it would have made more sense if he wasn’t singing TITT. Also if there was a missing harmony it could have been chefs kiss
the Julie Andrews bit? Fucking iconic
who tf is blondie soc girl and greaser girl. Sure ig for harmonies but they added nothing to the story and seriously to me seemed pointless. Their characters did not have to be written and served no purpose and come on, outsiders isn’t even about girls. The only girl who was close to a main character was cherry, and the only side girls who could have added to the story were sandy and Marcia, and they already underutilized Marcia. Like if you needed another girl moment just add in the two bit Marcia stuff but blondie and greaser girl had no use other than harmonies and dancing.
dally seemed way older than he should. He’s 17 he’s not put together he’s in and out of jail he’s not a responsible older brother to the boys he’s dangerous and unstable and both twobit and Darry are older than him also
the dally vs darry brother stuff was stupid
twobit was everything I wanted him to be loved it
ITS A HOPELESS WAR WERE FIGHTING AND WE DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT FOR EVEN IN THE END EVEN IF YOU WIN IT DOESNT CHANGE A THING
I didn’t really like little brother. At first I was like YES dally only cared about Johnny so yes the devotion is eating but then he’s like ‘do it for ponyboy and Johnny’ like what? ‘I am killing myself for the sake of ponyboy and Johnny’? That accomplishes nothing. That makes no sense. He killed himself bc the only good thing in his life was gone, not for pony and johnnys benefit?? The song is a banger but the lyrics are not it
stay gold is beautiful and the message is beautiful it fit the end of johnnys story so well and hold on to the good things and make peace with the bad things bc holding on to bad things is how people become resentful and vengeful and easily tempted to do bad things and that’s how bob and dally became bob and dally anyways stay gold might lift me out of my depression bc the message is so powerful and if I just find the beauty in this world in the sky and in the kids I work with and in my pets and everywhere else and if I act with grace and mercy and kindness rather than anger and justice and a mean spirit then I think I’ll do okay
I don’t blame the writers for not putting it in bc time exists and there’s only so much of it but I wish we’d seen more of ponyboys mental struggles or maybe even a short court scene showing them labeled innocent and it could have included ponyboy getting confused like in the book but I’m not mad bc it was getting to be a long musical
I did think the idea of ponyboy choosing to share johnnys message of staying gold by writing their story was very cutesy
awwwwww the way they ate dinner together and showed him improving by him eating a little bit like yes baby steps disordered eating is no joke and family dinners are amazing especially since the first few months of family dinners were probably sad and empty and tense and angry and then Johnny happened and they were sad and empty again until he started eating and the way darry didn’t make a big deal out of it and let him go slow :,)

I honestly dislike the fact that within the Graphic Novels-
That Tamarin’s scars are COMPLETELY EARSED from her design.
Within the books, Tamarin is described to have multiple scars on her neck and wings and a big scar on her underbelly, due to the fact that she bumped and crashed into many objects around her while learning to navigate her environment with her disability.
But within the graphic novels, Tamarin has NONE of the scars that she has in the books within her GN design at all. Not even ONE.
Tamarin could’ve at least had her underbelly scar kept within her design, since that’s the biggest scar that she’s known to have, or at the very least kept one of the scars on Tamarin’s wings and/or neck within her design - since smaller scars within the series were STILL kept on certain characters’ designs, like Umber’s and Qibli’s scars. But they were NOT. The ENTIRETY of Tamarin’s scars in her design are REMOVED in the Graphic Novels, despite the fact Tamarin’s scars a rather IMPORTANT and/or MAJOR part of her design!
The ERASURE of Tamarin’s character’s scars is quite icky and bad thing to do, since it gets rid of the representation of scarred characters and/or people within media.
And that it’s even known to be possibly be done scarred characters within comics and movies due to the stigmatizing belief that scars are a “graphic”, “ugly”, “scary”, and/or “gross”, to have, which is quite icky and even ableist mindset to have towards scars and people who have them.
And it honestly quite upsets me that Tamarin scars are removed from her design in the GN, because doing this to a scarred character doesn’t just remove a part of their design - but also a part of their CHARACTER as well.
Because Tamarin’s scars (indirectly) show the struggles that she went through trying to navigate and live her life with her blindness. They show the hardships of what she went through and experienced with her disability. They indirectly show how she eventually grown from her experiences of her troubles and learned how to overcome them. So much so that she is able to teach a recently blinded dragon how to fly and navigate his surroundings while being disabled at the age of 3. Her physical scars - in some shape or way - represent her physical trauma, (past) struggles, growth, and Arc that she experienced throughout her life with her disability.
So the fact that the Graphic Novel Tamarin’s scars aren’t shown, despite the fact that’s they’re a rather important and/or major part of Tamarin’s design and character - honestly is something really irritates me.
Please note that while I am neurodivergent, I’m NOT physical disabled and/or severely scarred, so anyone who’s reading this IS physically disabled and/or severely scarred in any way, feel free to add your own input of this confession and/or state if there’s anything flawed, bad, and/or wrong about this confession in a hopefully civil and/or educational way. Thanks!
Anon sent in some proof, which will below the read more.

do you have any advice for writing image descriptions? I’ve been wanting to add some to my art but I don’t know how to go about it
hello anon!!! that’s a wonderful thing to want to do and im happy to offer whatever help i can :3
so because image descriptions are very much a community effort, that does also mean there isn’t really a style guide or anything, which can be freeing but also quite intimidating! here are some kinda off the top of my head suggestions:
If ur comfier putting the ID in alt text than the post body, that is still much MUCH better than no ID at all (and side note, if someone copy+pastes ur id into a reblog, it’s not a suggestion that you did anything wrong, they’re just trying to make them maximally accessible. while a lot of ppl who need IDs will use screenreaders and will prefer alt text, there are ppl whose preference is plain text in the body of the post (i personally fall into this category))
similarly, if you are struggling to write an ID/don’t have the energy/etc, i cannot recommend People’s Accessibility on discord highly enough. there are some wonderful folks in there who can give you pointers or even write IDs for you! likewise, i can’t speak on others’ behalf but i’ve gladly written IDs for ppl’s posts before they’ve put them up before, and i’m happy to do so, even if we havent interacted before! you can shoot me a DM with the image you need described and i’m glad to assist
more specifically:
it’s good practice to include the name of the fandom and the characters, assuming it’s fanart. altho it’s likely that fanart will stay broadly within a circle where people are familiar with the source material, there may be ppl who encounter the post and wouldn’t know this detail without it being laid out explicitly
you’re welcome to mention whichever details you like, especially if you are the artist, because you know what’s important to the image as a whole. it’s also perfectly acceptable not to get super detailed on things like clothing/hairstyles, especially if they aren’t relevant to what’s going on
a good rule of thumb is to ask yourself, if you didn’t have the image in front of you and just had the description, would it be a true representation of what the image looks like/portrays? would your mental image be accurate? that’s what you’re shooting for.
the best advice i can give is to just dive in and start, bc it gets a lot less intimidating once you’ve done a few, and it also gets easier the more you do it :3
also, i think trying to follow ppl who describe images helps a lot, because you will get more passive exposure to descriptions and what you think works/doesn’t, which can improve your own ID writing! on that note, highly recommend @princess-of-purple-prose/@pathos-logical (kay is a pillar of this and every community tbqh), @ryutarotakedown, @lucky-numberme, @fox-guardian, @squeeneyart, @hotdrinks, @samwise1548, and @rq-described (a breadth of interests represented here, but also if you’re asking me i presume you have at least a passing interest in audio drama and adjacent :3 )
thanks so much for asking and as i said i’m always happy to help however i can!!! happy describing, i believe in you!!!

4th Day of Christmas
Gingerbread Houses
Summary/Prompt - “Everyone knows you’re not actually supposed to eat the gingerbread house. Those things are stale as hell.”
Pairing - Dean Winchester x Reader
Christmas Masterlist | Masterlist
You finally finished laying out all the supplies and ingredients on the kitchen table to make a gingerbread house. Part of you hopes you’ll have some company, but if not you’re more than content to play your Christmas carols and make it yourself. With Sam and Dean nowhere in sight you find your Christmas playlist on your phone and play it through your headphones, knowing they’d just complain anyway. You love the hunters but they lack a little Christmas spirit at times. Dean tries for you, he really does, but with his past and the life he leads he doesn’t really see the point in celebrating anymore. There’s always more important things on his mind. The last proper Christmas he celebrated was before he went to hell.
The three of you had been hunting what you thought was Krampus but really ended up being a Pagan anti-Santa that was killing people in Michigan. All the festivities got Dean in a festive mood, and with it being his supposed last Christmas topside he wanted to make the most of it. Sam was skeptical at first, but you finally convinced him to do it for his brother. It was a quiet affair: a tiny twiggy tree with cheap lights, cheap eggnog, some last minute gifts from the Gas N Sip, and the game on TV in an old motel room. But all of that is what made it perfect; it was a clear representation of your lives and most importantly it made Dean happy.
With Dean now back and you two agreeing to stop wasting time silently crushing on each other and actually give dating a chance, you wanted to feel and give him some of that Christmas cheer again. That’s how you ended up at the store buying all the ingredients for gingerbread as well as heaps of icing and lollies for decorating.
You lay down the biggest of the freshly cooked and cooled gingerbread cookies you made on a tray. Then you pipe some icing in a square near the edges to stand the four walls. Once all four walls are carefully balanced and iced in place you add more icing to the top of each cookie to add the roof panels. Then it’s time to decorate. Just as you’re looking at it trying to decide how you want it to look, a pair of arms wrap around you from behind and a kiss is placed on the top of your head.
“That looks great, Sweetheart.”’
“Wanna help me decorate it?”
“I’d love to, but uh, Sam found a case just a few hours over. Hopefully it’ll be a simple salt and burn and we’ll be back for dinner. I’ll let you know either way.”
“You want me to come? I can be ready in ten.”
“No, it’s okay. We can handle it. You enjoy your free time. Make sure you call me if anything goes wrong.”
“I should be the one saying that to you. I’ll be safe here in the Bunker.”
“I’ll call you when we get into town and then let you know what we find. I’ll see you later, hopefully.”
“I love you, Dean. Be safe!”
“Yeah, love you too Y/N.”
He kisses you on the lips before walking down the hall. You say a silent prayer to your angel friend to keep Dean and Sam safe. Then you return to the task at hand. You pipe decorative shapes of icing over the cookie house and then strategically place the rainbow candies in the icing. Once you're happy with your design you place it in the fridge to cool and set. Then you start to pull out some other decorations you picked up and place them around the bunker for a more festive feel.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
A few days later the boys finally return from their hunt. What was meant to be a simple salt and burn ended up being a lot more complicated when they found out the body was already cremated, leaving them to track down other family members who had taken some of the possessions after the funeral.
They’re both surprised as they walk into the war room. They take in the tinsel lining the tables, the decorated fir tree sitting atop one of them and your gingerbread house and carefully wrapped presents sitting under it. Dean quickly comes over to you and wraps you in his arms, kissing you passionately.
“This looks wonderful, Sweetheart. This must’ve been a lot of work by yourself,” he says once he pulls back for air.
“You’re worth it. You both deserve to enjoy Christmas. You work so hard.”
“You do too. I wish I had’ve gotten you something.”
“Coming home safe is enough. You’re all I need.”
He looks over at your handiwork again, smiling. “So when can I try your creation here?”
“It’s a decoration! You can’t eat it!”
After a while you separate to let them unpack while you cook dinner and serve it on the tables under the tree.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
The three of you fall into rhythm just doing research and enjoying the decorations. They even let you play Christmas music sometimes. You love the more relaxed nature that it all brings, if only for a few days.
But one night as you’re all sitting there reading massive books Dean reaches over and snaps a piece of the cookie of the overhanging part of the gingerbread house. You cringe internally as you watch him place it in his mouth. The house had been sitting out on the table for days, you couldn’t begin to imagine how terribly stale and disgusting it would be by now.
He instantly spits it in the bin beside him and chases it with a long swig of beer. “No offense, Babe. But that is absolutely disgusting.”
“Everyone knows you’re not actually supposed to eat the gingerbread house. Those things are stale as hell.” You laugh.

a (not) little rant about total drama’s portrayal of dissociative identity disorder in ROTI and AS
a few little tidbits before we get into the juice…
-i don’t have DID ! i have a dissociation disorder and i’ve done a lot of research on DID, but that obviously doesn’t mean i know as much as someone in a system would. if i make any mistakes or you want to add/correct anything, please do !
-since there isn’t an official name for the system as a whole, i’m gonna use “mike system” to refer to mike, chester, svetlana, vito, manitoba, and mal as a system
-before anyone says it, i know it’s “just a kids’ show” but it’s a kids’ show i’m insane and not normal about. so i’m very passionate about this. also kids’ shows should still be normal about mental illnesses/disabilities so idc
alright stinkers… let’s get into it
ok ! mike systems DID in ROTI isn’t GOOD representation but it isn’t like. the worst out there compared to some other media. some huge positives are the way the alters have actual triggers, and that everyone in the system IS portrayed as their own person, not just an extension or part of mike. i interpret the “gasp” the body does with switches as a stand in for dissociation (since they couldn’t really have him just sit there and stare into space bc of plot/time reasons) and it’s very easy to assume the role of everyone in the system from their personalities and triggers. the best example of this to me is vito ! vito is a “tough guy” who’s triggered to front by his shirt coming off, it’s easy to put the pieces together and assume his role is a protector who formed due to sexual abuse.
obviously, the use of the outdated term multiple personality disorder, the very quick switches, the fact the writers obviously did not actually research DID and just wanted a silly crazy character, and probably more i’m forgetting rn, are NOT issues to just ignore because of the good stuff. it’s definitely NOT good or super accurate representation by any means, but i don’t think it’s exactly super bad either. it’s iffy but has redeeming qualities to it.
another plus about mike system in ROTI, even though this isn’t really part of the portrayal of DID as a disorder, is that mike has a love interest that isn’t written as a joke. i feel like having mike in a romantic relationship is a BIG positive representation wise. it’s really important to me that even though zoey is confused and weirded out when she didn’t know what was going on, once she found out mike was part of a system she became more understanding and didn’t give up on him. being part of a system doesn’t mean you can’t have a partner, friends, etc and mike being in a wholesome healthy relationship is a nice breath of fresh air compared to other media portraying DID.
NOW. LETS ADDRESS MAL AND ALL STARS. GOOD LORD.
all stars has an issue with watering down characters and making poor plot/character choices in general, and in my opinion it’s the worst with mike system. ROTI had questionable at times but ok DID rep with mike system, which is why it’s so disappointing that AS took the “evil alter” route and whatever the hell the button thing was… bc they were SO close with having ok representation and then they threw it all away for an overdone and harmful stereotype. mike system in ROTI is a MASTERPIECE compared to whatever the hell was going on in AS.
even when you take into account that in a real life system, mal is most similar to the role of a persecutor (an alter who sabotages the body’s relationships and causes harm to the body/other alters as a way to “protect” everyone in their eyes (oops ! i was wrong. a persecutor isn’t always a protector, however they can take the role of a persecutor and protector which is where i got confused. mal is a both a persecutor and protector to me)) which makes SOME of his actions explainable TO AN EXTENT, it’s clear the writers didn’t have that intent and just wanted a spooky evil alter, which is really disappointing. along with the button issue, which is just…. so insane….
i choose to believe for my own sanity that the button was sort of an emergency temporary dormancy button and that chester fr just lied/didn’t know and made something up. but that obviously isn’t canon, and IN CANON the body’s trauma and serious disorder was literally gone because of the PRESS OF A BUTTON and it is absolutely ridiculous. and it’s portrayed as a GOOD THING.
systems are systems because it is the only way the body and brain can maintain stability and live after serious repeated trauma. in a real situation with a system, if there was somehow a way to get rid of alters in literal seconds, the consequences would be ABSOLUTELY DISASTROUS and unstable. obviously, integration and dormancy CAN be a good thing depending on the system, but it is a LOOONG and complicated process and watering it down to the press of a button in your brain is so inappropriate and insensitive. literally why did they do that. it’s just so disappointing to go from what mike system was in roti to what they became in all stars.
sorry u guys i am just passionate about this

I attempted a rough draft of the Alan Becker timeline! I’m planning on eventually putting it all into an actual timeline someday
Please if you have any suggestions and extra information lmk!
Ramblings under cute
ok what the FUCK is with this timeline
First of all, if anyone has any ideas, theories, hcs, or ANYTHING about whatever TDL and TCO was doing between 2012- 2018 PLEASE LMK BC OMG THIS IS ANNOYING ME SO MUCH. I’m trying to make a timeline and there’s just this giant gap bc ava 11 just decided to recontextualize everything we knew about ava 7. Thanks ava 11. Also do TDL and TCO have a duo name? Bc spelling out their names is a hassle and they’re basically the most iconic duo in this series (fight me). I mean there’s grapeduo and appleduo so
Honestly i never really thought about how little dates there are for ava. Like there’s 6. in total. and 4 of them are the creation dates for the hollowheads. Like ok.
also i REFUSE to accept that King gave up his revenge in less than an hour. From 12:11pm - 1:30pm????? idk just looking at S3 based on the time just looks wrong. If avm was real, I would have been eating lunch in this amount of time. What. I mean for some reason Alex’s computer shows that 2 days have passed sooo. Ig we can add breaking the time-space continuum to the long list of “things to say to non-ava fans to confuse them”.
Also not really that important but i find the fact that AVM ep 31 is a month after ava s3. The implications are so funny. Like the CG gets kidnapped by a mega-corporation and TSC learns that they have powers, but then they immediately return back to silly minecraft shenanigans. Which is pretty in-character tbh shouldn’t be that surprised
Also I have ZERO idea where the animation vs. education series goes. Actually should I even keep it in? I just added it bc it’s a good reference point ig. idk
The Green Arc timeline is also super funky, which is surprising since Green’s channel is supposed to be all in real time. Like wdym ROYB was being held captive by Greenscreen for a week???? Are the videos actually queued????? I mean, at least the dates on the PC are actually accurate for once. Though why were they up at 2 in the morning fighting the symbolic representation of Green’s mistakes i have no idea. The CG are the physical embodiment of “the unemployed friend on a tuesday”. Back to the main point, Super Orange vs. Greenzilla was uploaded at 12:20 am, and then they fought Greenscreen at 2:25 am? This is super nitpicky and really doesn’t matter but i didn’t just spend the last 10 minutes figuring out the exact time each Green video was uploaded so. yeah.

Aaaaaaaa i feel so awkward asking this but I want to make sure that I interpret his character right and don’t mess up already scarce representation for aromantic people sooo
How does Orlam experience/express/feel his aromanticism? I’ve been doing a little bit of reading about to to educate myself more since I’ve realised my understanding of what romantic attraction is(as opposed to other types of attraction which I find easier to define) is embarrassingly surface level. From what I’ve gathered, I’ll attempt to phrase my understanding of Orlam in this aspect and all I want you to do is correct anything im wrong about or add anything else you think is important to him in this regard ty!!!
I’m assuming Orlam uses the term aromantic literally, and not as an umbrella term? Ofc I may be wrong, and I’m not requiring giving him additional labels because they’re always optional-I just want to make sure that he doesn’t experience romantic attraction like, at all? Or are there exemptions?
In the case that he doesn’t experience romantic attraction at all, I assume he enjoys what would otherwise be considered romantic gestures(since he oftentimes displays these as a character) for reasons that don’t involve them actually causing feelings of attraction for him? Like he enjoys traditionally romantic things like flirting, flowers, writing poems(maybe, idk, he seems like the type from how fancy he likes to talk, esp to Iggy in his routes) but they don’t cause him romantic feelings?
Perhaps he enjoys making others feel romantic attraction/fuzzies in general while not experiencing it personally himself? Or does he enjoy romantic reciprocation in a way that isn’t inherently romantic?
I’m trying to think of anything else to ask but this ask is already long af and probably complicated to unpack so I’ll leave this here. Once again sorry if I sound uneducated(because I admit, I have long ways to go in properly understanding the topic >.<) thank you so much in advance, I just want to make sure I properly understand Orlam as an aromantic character
orlam doesn't use any labels, I'll be honest LOL he hates labels in general (like he doesn't even see himself as "bisexual" either). but if I gave him one it would be grayromantic, mostly because even he doesn't really know or understand how he feels when it comes to romantic attraction (and he doesn't want to understand, he just wants to live however he feels like it at any point in time without labeling it)
it's hard for me to describe in detail something like an orientation like this because it's all very complex. and particularly with Orlam he's very capricious. I think that he enjoys classy romantic gestures because he's a classy theatrical guy and doing stuff like that is fun for him. he loves to be dramatic and over the top. and he likes to make others feel good too. does he also get some romantic thrill out of them? unsure. even he is unsure. but he does know that the ways he tends to feel about other ppl, even those he's attracted to, seem to be different from how he's heard others describe and talk about, or the ways he's seen others act. but he doesn't really know (or care) in what way. and he forms connections in his own way
I feel like this is a vague answer and that's honestly because I don't really know a better way to explain it and him 😅 but that's just how I've always felt about Orlam as a character

After not only binging the show, but also watching a dozen video essays about it, The Bear’s only become a show that I absolutely love more than anything else I’ve ever watched.
From the insanely beautiful use of color and lighting to describe settings and atmosphere to the 17 MINUTE LONG ONE-TAKE EPISODE, it’s perfect. I absolutely adore the story, the characters, the relationships between them, the character development, and the fact that every ounce of stress that exists in the show can be felt by the viewer as if they were in this world. And as someone who has personal experience in restaurants and kitchens, there’s a lot of nostalgia in feeling the pressure and stress of existing in those environments. But among my favorite examples of the genius and creativity of this show involve S1E7 “Review”, S2E4 “Honeydew”, S2E7 “Forks”, and S2E10 “The Bear”
S1E7 “Review” is the aforementioned 17 minute one-take episode. And when I say one-take I genuinely mean no hidden cuts, no tricks, a genuine single take throughout the entire episode. Now, the biggest reason I love this relatively short episode of the show is more about the way it feels to me personally because of the single take rather than the fact that it just is a one-take. The feeling of absolute chaos in the kitchen, people quitting on the spot, stress, high expectations, and stakes just feel not only terrifying, but also exhilarating. As I mentioned before, I’ve worked in foodservice for years, and thus all of those feelings are extremely nostalgic to me. But, hearing that other people who have no experience in a kitchen still feel that same pressure really goes to show how effectively the show conveyed how that work environment is. Part of the reason it’s so effective is the fact that there are no cuts to give the viewer any relief, you’re stuck in the moment for the entire episode. You have nowhere to be except in the moment with everyone else struggling to keep their composure, and it’s fantastic. The accuracy of the setting paired with the ability to drag the viewer into that uncomfortable spot whether they want to be there or not is so well done that it feels like you’re either working in a kitchen for the first time, or you’re doing it again.
S2E4 “Honeydew” was, at least I think, completely under appreciated. Seeing Marcus’s character development throughout, especially as he gets mentored by Luca is not only a nice break from the complete chaos of The Bear back in Chicago, but also important to watch to really understand Marcus as a person. In his apprenticeship under Luca, he asks questions, expands upon his knowledge, and becomes more confident as he learns. But Luca also adds so much to this episode by simply not being a stereotypical “I’m the pro and I resent you for not being as good as me” type of chef. When Marcus asks a question, he answers. When Marcus wants him to expand, he does. It’s a wonderful representation of two people with a somewhat informal mentor-student relationship interact in a way that doesn’t establish a dynamic of greater and lesser, but just two chefs that seek to improve. Nothing more.
S2E7 “Forks”. Oh my dear god, this episode. Arguably, it’s the best one out of both seasons of the show. But this doesn’t follow our main protagonist Carmy, but rather Richie, who was thought to be the antagonist thus far. Richie gets sent off to what is said to be the greatest restaurant in the world to stage. He begins the episode waking up in his bed, reluctantly bringing himself to get ready to begin his temporary job away from The Bear as per Carmy’s demand. When Richie walks into the place, it almost feels like a horror movie. The lighting is dim and unwelcoming, Richie is completely resenting being there, and he is unfortunate to be in the typical position of having to shine forks. It’s normal for a stage to start this way, but when Richie is half-assing the job entirely, the person overseeing him brings him outside to talk. Richie, expecting to get chewed out or let go, instead learns about the passion of the people working here regarding their jobs. And that’s the turning point. Richie goes from an antagonistic asshole who couldn’t care less about what’s going wrong to a guy who actually applies himself. He’s enthusiastic. It’s most notable when he runs to grab a deep dish pizza for a family visiting Chicago, and once the chef snobifies the dish, Richie of all people volunteers to give it to them. It’s when he’s at their table, giving them the food and talking to them that we really see that new side of him for the first time shining through. The immense change of his character from the beginning of season 1 to more than halfway through season 2 is immensely satisfying, but also extremely effective in presenting us with a character arc that makes you tear up. The only thing that makes it a million times better than it already is, is the fact that the lighting throughout the episode gets brighter as Richie grows. It’s a beautiful visual representation that gives a subtle visual representation of him becoming a “brighter” person.
Finally, S2E10 “The Bear”. The last episode of season 2 aptly named after the show itself is the Family and Friends night of the renovated and reinvented restaurant. This “dress rehearsal” seems like it’ll go perfectly smooth, everyone has high hopes, and after Carmy and Sydney have a heart-to-heart while fixing up a table before the real busy work begins, we feel this sense that nothing could go wrong. And, to be honest, for a while it actually plays out that way. But the issues start (just like the story Uncle Jimmy told Carmy before they started) when Carmy fucks up the first thing that night, which is when Sydney says she’s overwhelmed and would like Carmy to take over Expo, but Carmy just says she’s fine. It’s at this point that a toilet is down, tables are all behind, one of the chefs ditched to do drugs, the tension and stress multiply by several orders of magnitude, and finally, Carmy locks himself in the walk-in. But Carmy being stuck in a situation where he can’t be involved in the kitchen is when things look up. Richie takes over Expo, Sydney can cook, they start catching up, and they manage to fix up their string of fuck-ups in just four minutes. It’s perfect that it worked out BECAUSE Carmy got cut out because he had neglected to contact the fridge guy to fix the walk-in. He put himself there. That’s all his fault. But this happening instead of him suddenly overcoming his overwhelming hostility and aggressiveness as well as the neglect of the walk-in getting fixed made that first night of service perfect for the show. It’s not a flawless performance. There’s still a lot fucked up. Carmy has a lot of baggage and issues he hasn’t resolved that almost costed them that entire night. That’s why it’s perfect. He’s been deeply flawed the entire series, and having all of that resolved by the end makes a no sense. And we really feel the weight of this when Carmy ruins his relationship with his girlfriend, berates Richie, and vents to Tina about how he’s a “psycho”. We learn so much, and get the feeling that Carmy wants to be better, but still has this fear that good things will happen to him that break him out of this pure logic routine of things he’s turned his life into. It’s nowhere near resolved. Sure, the restaurant’s first night was successful, people loved it. But, Carmy’s still so, so far from having completed a character arc like so many others have.
I rarely ever watch shows more than once, but this might be the only show I’ve ever watched that I could watch over and over again without getting sick of it. I only appreciate every detail more, and it’s honestly slightly obsessive of me to love this show this much. But the way it feels like I’m back in a kitchen, stressed out of my fucking mind trying to work and keep up with everything while people are screaming at me to get things done, it’s nostalgic and addictive. I’ve never once described a show as perfect before, but I would describe The Bear as the greatest and most perfect show I’ve ever watched. The only drawback is that there’s only 18 episodes total, and I find myself wanting more, which is a rare feeling for me to hold for shows. But the real weight you feel from it, and the fact that you feel like you know the characters personally, it’s indescribable in terms of how impressively effective the show makes you sympathize with everyone and grounds you in their world. So despite the immense amount of stress and frustration you feel watching it, it’s still such a beautiful show to experience when you can connect so deeply with so many different parts of every character and feel the reality of the situations you see. And just because I can’t say it enough, I have to end this post by saying once again that The Bear is absolutely fucking perfect. Hands down, no question.

''what does the rest of the server mean then'' Most disliked c!Dream for a valid reason like his actions, and autism is never an excuse to do bad things hfmoot
[context]
lol are you saying you read give or take something like 3,000 words of c!Dream being autistic and that one line you didn’t even quote right because I assume you are talking about this “And if Dream is autistic, damn what kinda of picture does that paint of the rest of the server… just saying… ;)” from the very bottom of the tags is what you got out of all of that?… seriously?
First of all, the valid reasons are comical. Sure some people have a good reason to hate Dream, but like Sapnap’s reason is because Dream threatened to use Bekerson against him and he thought Dream doesn’t care about him [clip]. But sure yea no, skeppy cage and threats are a perfectly valid reason to put them in torture box for eternity dislike someone… (really besides the point but yea it just so happened to be fresh on my mind lol…)
Regardless, I don’t think I did or will ever say that autism or anything else excuses bad behavior. If you ever think that’s what I’m saying - that it’s okay to do bad things if you have a good excuse - you are misunderstanding and misconstruing my words. What I do like to do, is look at Why something might have happened. Those are not the same thing. C!Dream himself specifically highlights this in Daedalus because Sam was using his reasons as justifications for his actions - I have a good reason therefore it’s okay, which Dream was pointing that eventhough reasons are important to know someone isn’t just being malicious for the sake of it, a valid reason doesn’t excuse it. Especially because excuses don’t tend to erase the hurt those actions caused. But even though reasons don’t excuse the behavior or make it right, they can add perspective and perhaps help gain compassion…
To be fair though, I don’t think I really even talked about autism and the bad things he did at all anyways. Only the character traits, circumstances and storyline that point to autism in my opinion. Explaining his actions through the lense of autism would be a whole different set of essays.
Really, if I’m creating excuses for behavior for anyone it is for the server. As I said people have inherent hate of autistic people down to the subconscious level of basic fear, not to say everyone is ableist but the fact that we are different makes us already a target of dislike, which is really more so if anything excusing the server’s despicable treatment of a fellow human being. But even then, I’m still not excusing or justifying only trying to make sense of and understand how people could hate him so much to the point of killing him till he’s permanently dead (something they didn’t even do to Wilbur or Schlatt l) and put him in a little lava covered box and throw away the key. Plus, I mean a lot of people were against Dream before the agruably more bad things like Staged finale, Doomsday, Exile, hell even before the Pogtopia war people seemed to hate him, so my aim is to understand why things happened the way they did…
Anyways, if that is the statement you are referring to then, I’ll admit it’s a little aggressive, poorly worded and I probably shouldn’t have said it at all. But my intention was not really to call the server a bunch of ableists, but more so that they are a good representation of the bullying and social rejection and the hate autistic people often face without even understanding why. (I mean I was probably also just saying how dare they bully my poor little autistic green teletubby lol XD as more so a joke hence the winky face) anyways… all that to say, that it’s not about everything Dream did was okay because he’s autistic so he gets a pass or to say the server was maliciously targeting him because he’s autistic or whatever, it’s about understanding the Why something happened and how that might paint a picture of the server and story that reflects the real world…

Before the final season of HSMTMTS premieres I just want to talk about one of the most important scenes from last season because it really encompasses Ricky’s add, Rina and the dynamic between the OG Core 4. And the way it was filmed, was to parallel that journey.
Ricky singing Kristoff’s Lullaby, a song that says “everything I thought I did [about love] you’ve gone and changed it” which is a response to Ricky and Gina’s first duet “What Do You Know About Love?” is it. This has been Ricky and Gina’s relationship from Ricky’s perspective and arc. It’s always been about change for him. About growing up, letting go of childhood, insecurities, concepts of love.
Tumblr media
The whole framing of this scene it’s important because this parallels auditions back in the pilot episode. The OG core 4 (Ricky, Nini, Gina and EJ) are in the same place but in very different circumstances. On the pilot, Ricky was singing a song to Nini about his feelings sort of [a song written by her, a song that couldn’t even allow them to say the word love to each other]. And Nini isn’t so thrilled by this because this is Ricky inserting himself in what she considers to be her new found space. Ricky doesn’t even like musicals. EJ, Nini’s boyfriend, was by her side, absolutely not thrilled about it, of course, this is Nini’s ex just serenating her and it awakes his own insecurities. On the other side of the stage, there’s Gina watching him, at first she was so bored but then her eyes spark at Ricky’s song because it’s something new. Gina doesn’t get intrigued but Ricky intrigues her. He feels so out of place but he has something she’s never seen. And this is the start of their dynamic, and for all of these characters in a nutshell.
Tumblr media
On 308, we have a similar scene but switched a bit. We have Ricky singing to someone. But this time, to Gina and it's not in her face, like he did it with Nini. He is not intruding in her space – he spends the whole season trying not walk over her own boundaries. For her and EJ. This is a Ricky that is sure about his place in theater and it’s doing it for himself. A lead role he actually put effort on. It’s Ricky singing a song about love, about meeting someone that changes everything for you, including the ways you used to view love. Gina is the representation of change. She’s been called this way multiple occasions. Ricky used to view love in a very consuming way. It’s all or nothing, even if sometimes it intrudes on boundaries. Even if by keeping that love so tight it changes you but not for a better version of yourself. Even if holding to it it’s stopping your from growing. Gina came into his life to tell him that changes can be good, that doing things for yourself are good. If a love is meant to be it will be. And he looks at Gina. Who, like before, was standing at the side of the stage. And she knows that line it’s for her. Gina knows exactly what Ricky is trying to tell her. But we also have Nini, who Ricky knows is watching too, they told him this before. But he is singing to Gina. Nini is not in his mind. But the fact that she is there makes that concept very clear. Nini is there watching him with pride because she can see too how much he has changed as a person and now belongs. And at the other side of the stage there's EJ, who’s basically on a similar situation as before but this time he knows is inevitable and he won’t do anything to sabotage that like he did before. He walks away. He knows he has.
Tumblr media
Tim Federle loves its full circle moments and Season 4 will give us a lot of those. But this whole thing brings me to his recent interview where he says this is the first time Ricky and Gina are in love together because sometimes your first love is not exactly what you think love is. We often think our first love it's the standard of love and then comes someone that teaches you how to love. This is what Gina is to Ricky. (And I’ve made countless post about it X X X)
Nini and Ricky’s love was special but it was not helping them grow up, you could feel since the pilot how out of sync they actually were and neither of them wanted to admit that because their romance was attached to their childhood memories none of them were ready to let go. Nini was more ready to let go than Ricky was. Gina pushed Ricky to contemplate aspects of his life - and the reality that he needed to move forward and accept that things have to come the way they will come and he can't hold onto them. The song "Second Change" is also a song that summarizes the OG Core 4 arcs. For Nini, it's always been about finding her self self away for the image she created around Ricky. For Ricky, it was accepting changes, to embrace them. For Gina, it's about not running when things get too hard and finding where she belongs. For EJ, is about finding his own way outside of his parents expectations. That’s it. That’s the story. And if you didn’t see it…

This is so random, but I’ve always been curious about this. Do you prefer Jensen and Jared to be gay or bi? I’ve noticed most fanfic writers for J-squared (and you in your fics) tend to prefer to make them gay. In Supernatural fics, I think their more often bi? Or at least maybe it’s just the ones I’m reading. Do you have a preference for one over the other and why? I’m bi myself, so I have a preference for bi characters, but there are exceptions. I love Jared in Underneath being gay. The crime world is really homophobic, and him having to navigate that and still command respect and say fuck you to stereotypes is beautiful. Him being gay and unwilling to hide that part of his really adds something nice to his character. So yeah, I was just curious to hear your thoughts!
This is a really interesting question and I had to think about that. I have… several thoughts about it. Because it made me wonder, as someone who considers herself queer (I haven’t found a more specific label yet I like and I’m not sure whether I want one for myself, but I am definitely neither straight nor lesbian, so more closer to bi than anything I think, and yeah, it made me wonder: why do I not write more bi characters?
I think in parts it’s the J2 tradition. You’re right, there are way more fics with the Js being gay than bi. Part of it may be due to biphobia or even just a lack of understanding anything that’s not gay or straight? It is still a thing and it was much more so seventeen to ten years ago, which were the formative years of the J2 fandom. (Never underestimate how much society and the acceptance of the full spectrum of queer people has changed in the last twenty years and just how old the spn fandom is.) In some of the older J2 fics especially where one of them has relationships with women before, the fic then talks about them as gay even though they theoretically still enjoy sex with women and are probably not entirely gay. I wonder how much that relates to biphobia or a general lack of representation of bi men. (In spn canon Dean and Sam have so many canon relationships with women, I think you have to make them bi or pan or Sam-sexual/Dean-sexual or something not straight to make it as close to canon as possible. I certainly write my Sam and Dean as somewhere in the bisexual region or straight with the exception of their brother, but then I don't think I've ever dealt with the specifics of their sexualities in my fics.)
The other thing is more personal for me. As someone who started out thinking she was straight in her teens and then had the whole wait what am I actually thing in her twenties, I think it was just easier to write characters who just know. And obviously I could write bi characters who just know that they’re bi, but I think for me, being bi always seemed much more complicated? Which, apart from my own experience, doesn’t have to be like that at all of course, but again, there is a lack of representation and the bi character rep I’ve experienced is often people struggling with it and figuring it out late. And so I think, for me personally, it just seemed easier. I don’t know, honestly, why I didn’t write the whole wishful thinking bi character who is just bi thing, but maybe that’s due to the whole I don’t want to write about me and my life directly, I want to transform/stay away from my issues as much as possible before I write cathartic fic.
Writing this feels actually really sad because bi rep is so important (see above!). Will this make me write more bi characters in the future? Hopefully. (I’ve dipped my toe into Red, White and Royal Blue and honestly having a character struggle to figure out their bisexuality was really nice—though Alex is really exceptionally obtuse, but then, everybody needs to get there at their own pace.)
Thanks for the question, nonnie. I’d love to hear what other people think about it, but these are my two cents on the matter.

I do think Executor has Sankta Empathy, but I actually think that makes your point even better.
(I promise this isn’t going to be as long as my last Laterano post, I just have some thoughts on Federico that didn’t really fit in to the last one)
Anyway, my case is mostly going to be built on these lines:
Tumblr media
(From HE-3 Before, screenshot from the Arknights story reader)
The Abbot’s appeal here doesn’t really make sense if Federico doesn’t have Sankta Empathy. We know from Ezell that a biological lack of empathy is common enough for people to not comment on it in normal conversation, and it’s mostly just taken as a fact by fully-abled Sankta. Given that, then, it doesn’t make sense for the Abbot to appeal to Federico’s empathy if he can feel that Federico doesn’t have it. If this were in Laterano itself it might be a little more arguable, but the Abbot has spent most of his life keeping peace and being a leader for non-Sankta people. He knows how to communicate without Empathy, and he’s desperate so he’s using anything he has. These lines don’t really make sense if Federico has a biological lack of empathy like Ezell does.
I think instead that his Sankta Empthy works just fine, but he’s almost totally lacking in mundane lowercase-e empathy. I armchair diagnose him with autism, but I’ll admit that’s mostly out of “he just like me fr fr” and would defer to someone who knows more about these things than I do. This makes the Abbot’s appeal make much more sense - he can feel Federico through his Empathy, but just isn’t getting anything back. When he says “can you truly not hear your kin lamenting” he means that Federico can understand Empathy and simply doesn’t respond to it. He takes in the emotions of others around him, but he just doesn’t consider them valuable input.
Executor’s Operator Record leans a little farther towards the “No Sankta Empathy” argument, but I still think it can be read as a lack of mundane empathy.
Tumblr media
“Birth defect” is of course vague, but what I’d point out is that all this is a response to the Doctor either a. asking whether Federico can empathize with them, which wouldn’t require Sankta Empathy and therefore wouldn’t require bringing it up, or b. whether Federico knows any emotions whatsoever, which skips directly to mundane empathy and makes a response about an autism-adjacent condition more likely. It’s also worth keeping in mind that this is Federico, who will keep to strictly mission-relevant comments whenever possible, so we can Occam’s razor this harder than normal. A lack of Sankta empathy is definitely arguable here, but I think it’s more up in the air than it was before HdE.
Regardless, if Federico has Sankta Empathy but not normal empathy, that adds a quite a few new layers to an already very complicated story. I’ll just give to the two that stick out to me the most:
First, it makes Federico even more of a neurodivergent icon than he already was, because that means the Abbot is giving him the “why aren’t you picking up what I’m putting down, I’m being perfectly comprehensible” horseshit that you get from neurotypical people. King shit, this is the representation we needed.
Second, it makes Federico even more important as a critique of the Sankta hegemony, because he’s proves that Empathy isn’t perfect. It’s often treated as a magic telepathy button for people who aren’t Sankta, but one of the important things HdE did was demonstrating that Empathy is just as flawed as any other method of communication. When we hear Lemuen talking about how “if you just had empathy you’d agree with me” we know she’s full of shit, and it’s in part because of what Federico shows to us. It also undermines the greater image of the Sankta as a superior race. Federico fulfills all of the criteria for being a proper, fully-fledged Sankta as the racial hierarchy describes them, but he’s still not the same as others filling the same criteria and doesn’t have the same virtues that are supposed to come of it. He forces a widening of the criteria for a Sankta and that’s not only what makes him a good hero but also fits perfectly in the themes of the event as a whole.
Now that I’ve finished reading Hortus de Escapismo and Executor’s record, I really gotta ramble about Executor for a second and kinda talk abt how Arknights handles his lack of empathy trait that I really enjoy. This isn’t a proper analysis or anything just my thoughts I wanna vomit for a sec.
So it’s implied in Executor’s record that he just, wasn’t born having empathy despite being a sankta. Or at least he just naturally doesn’t have the same levels of understanding of emotion as other sankta. The part that I really like about it is how Executor’s Record and story in general doesn’t portray that as a necessarily bad thing.
His lack of empathy allows him to think in a way that is a lot more unique than other sankta. When his partner in his record story told him to sacrifice him, he still brought his body back to Laterano. One of the reason being because of a specific sentence in the will they were enacting (“I hope all Laterans return back to their home.” Smth that most people would assume is just smth the will writer wrote for some extra literary flare) but also because he disregarded his partner’s feelings. His lack of empathy is the reason why he did something good and that is very interesting to me especially when most people tend to demonise having low/no empathy.
I also just really like how in his record story, it’s emphasised that he knows what emotions ARE. He has developed a system with his parents to recognise and visualise emotions by drawing lines that represent them. He knows what it is, he can recognise it to a level where he can think of the next best course of action when confronted with it, he just doesn’t put much importance on it nor does he bother with understanding it for the most part. Especially if it’s something that will get in the way of his job. And I REALLY like that cus it reminds me of how people irl that have low empathy will develop systems to work around it and still be kind.
I know a lot of us joke about Executor being autistic and that’s funny and I like the jokes as much as everyone else, but low or no empathy is a trait of other mental disorders and disabilities and even as someone that hasn’t been diagnosed with anything yet it still feels kinda nice to see low empathy being portrayed in a way that isn’t villanious.
In fact, Executor having low empathy kinda makes him the best person in the room sometimes especially in Hortus de Escapismo. The part where he does a warning shot at Oren and Lemuen and essentially goes “Can ya’ll STOP I’m trying to do my JOB.” And essentially manages to stop a massacre because of it is so funny but also so fucking hype bruv. I like how in the end of the event when Executor was starting to ask more questions and have more doubts and was starting to let emotions affect his actions a bit more, it isn’t framed as like “Oh mah gerd, he’s learning empathy and being more hooman!”
Instead he’s asking questions and seeking to find solutions to them in his own unique way. Asking around and adding more variables to his thought process like a computer would (which has some implications that gets my lore brain churning but hrghrghrgh)
Top it all of with the fact that he is specifically a character that is born and raised in a society that values empathy. Being able to feel other people’s emotions is what makes you a sankta. And Executor, is one of the better sanktas because he doesn’t follow that rule.
God I love Executor, go son, thrive.

Why ace related stuff in Good Omens is important to not lose (obviously ppl can have their headcanons but sometimes the way ppl discuss this stuff alienates asexual ppl).
So, I really DONT want aziracrow to have a sex scene (which I doubt will actually happen but a lot of ppl in the fandom seem to be very keen on the idea) not because I think they HAVE to be ace because they’re not human (that logic can accidentally dehumanize asexuality), nor because old ppl can’t have sex (that is rooted in a harmful way we look at aging).
I don’t want them to because nothing in their relationship thus far (which is 6000 years) has ever, ever, been sexual. And I don’t want something kinda out of character to happen just for the sake of it. They just have loved each other and that’s that. That’s enough. And that’s beautiful.
I DESPISE it when characters confess their love for each other and the IMMEDIATE thing that occurs is a sex scene. Because it implies that sex is UNANIMOUS with romance and that the only way to truly validate a romantic relationship is with sex. It creates this underlying message that sex is just what ya do when you are in love. Which is absolutely NOT true.
Additionally, most of the time the sex scene just happens for the sake of it happening, when it adds NOTHING TO THE STORY. It is just there because people think sex NEEDS to be there when ppl fall in love, WHICH IS SO UTTERLY UNTRUE.
But this sort of thing is very common in television. Thus far, good omens has done an excellent job of portraying aziraphale and crowley’s relationship without anything inherently horny or sexual which is wonderful because society already places too much unnecessary emphasis on sex. And this alienates ppl on the aro/ace spectrum.
Good Omens has already been portraying aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship in a way that doesn’t alienate asexual ppl and I don’t want that to be lost by forcing sex into aziracrow’s relationship because that is what happens with SO MANY couples on tv (with the end result ALWAYS being alienating asexuality because the sex doesn’t add anything to the story).
Aziracrow has so many other interesting things going on than sex so I think putting it in there when they reunite wouldnt add anything and would be a MUCH less satisfying/heartwarming conclusion than them going to the ritz or the bookshop or something because those things already have emotional value.
Adding a sex scene would just be doing the same thing all shows do. Now obviously it’s important that queer representation is seen as equal to as straight rep so “why shouldn’t we be able to do the same stuff” which I kinda get. BUT the whole “sex always happening after a love confession, implying that the only way to truly express love is sex” is dumb and it’s something I don’t want to see ANYWHERE. Especially in Good Omens which has already handled queer rep in a way which doesn’t alienate asexuality.
