To Our Guild Leadership and Staff: We are proud rank-and-file union and trade association members from every corner of our industry — working on screen, stage, set, and in the field — united in solidarity with the global call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and a just, lasting peace. As artists and storytellers, we cannot stand idly by as our industry refuses to tell the story of Palestinian humanity. Following SAG-AFTRA’s statement in sympathy with Israel regarding October 7, many SAG-AFTRA and sister guild members have watched in horror as the Israeli government wages a war of collective punishment on the civilian population of Gaza — killing over 40,000 Palestinians, injuring over 90,000 more, forcibly displacing 2 million people, and openly targeting members of the press and their families. As the IDF continues its assault on “safe zones,” schools, and hospitals, and as civilians in Gaza die from starvation, dehydration, and lack of medical supplies and fuel, major human rights groups have labeled these acts as war crimes, human rights atrocities, and even genocide. The UN has described Gaza as a “graveyard for children” — and estimate that by mid-July “half of the population — more than a million people — could face death and starvation.” As of now, there is no end in sight — only escalation, death, and destruction.
Despite these clear violations of human rights and Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land and lives, our union leadership has remained silent. Thus, they have made conditional which atrocities we choose to condemn and which innocent lives we choose to acknowledge and mourn. Moreover, SAG-AFTRA and nearly all our sister guilds have remained silent in the face of flagrant and unprecedented attacks on freedom of the press, including the deliberate targeting and murder of Palestinian journalists and their families by the IDF. The Committee to Protect Journalists has declared the war on Gaza “the deadliest period for journalists covering conflict since CPJ began tracking in 1992.” Some of those journalists were members of news organizations whose domestic affiliates are represented under SAG-AFTRA contracts. While SAG-AFTRA issued a public statement at the outset of the Ukraine war demanding that “journalists of all nations working in the war zone are kept safe,” its words now ring hollow if they only apply to some journalists of certain identities.
On December 13, 2023, Israeli forces attacked The Freedom Theatre in the Jenin refugee camp and kidnapped several of its members — fellow actors and directors, who have called for solidarity from theatre workers worldwide. Palestinian trade unions have called for international labor solidarity, reminding us that “the struggle for Palestinian justice and liberation is a lever for the liberation of all dispossessed and exploited people of the world.” Worldwide labor has heeded that call, including major Australian, British, Belgian, Indian, and American unions. On Nov 15, our British peer union, Equity UK, called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, stating: “We send our solidarity to Palestinian artists suffering in the horrendous conditions created by Israeli bombing, occupation, and apartheid.” Since then, UAW International has called for a ceasefire and announced the formation of a Divestment and Just Transition working group; The Animation Guild (IATSE Local 839) became the first Hollywood union to call for a ceasefire in Gaza; five of the 10 largest American labor unions and federations have officially called for a ceasefire including the NEA (National Education Association), SEIU (Service Employees International Union), and the AFL-CIO; and unions collectively representing a majority of organized workers in the US formed The National Labor Network for Ceasefire. In July, 7 major unions representing over 6 million workers published a letter to President Biden demanding an arms embargo on Israel.
The global call for a ceasefire — from organized labor, artists and fellow SAG-AFTRA members, human rights groups, world leaders, and the majority of the American public — grows louder every day. And yet, our government continues to sponsor the Israeli forces’ assault on Palestinian civilians, and our industry union leadership still refuses to speak out. We reject this silence. Our calling as artists, news reporters, and storytellers is to bring truth to the world. To fight the erasure of life and culture. To unite for justice in the name of the most vulnerable among us. It’s exactly what we did during our historic strike in 2023.
We are the labor that built and sustains this business. When our leaders can’t stand up publicly for peace and justice, then we must do what we always do: organize, fight for change, and win. Our guild leadership must join the largest and most diverse peace movement in a generation — the integrity of our legacy demands nothing less. When confronted with genocide, oppression, and injustice, let us ring the bell for humanity and liberation. An injury to one is an injury to all. We, the undersigned members of SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, WGA, Teamsters, DGA, AEA, AFM, Hollywood Basic Crafts, CSA, PGA, and more, demand our leadership issue a public statement calling for a permanent ceasefire, release of all hostages — both Palestinian and Israeli, and immediate funding and delivery of desperately needed humanitarian aid; to speak out against the targeting and killing of innocent Palestinian civilians, health workers, and our journalist colleagues; to condemn our industry’s McCarthyist repression of members who acknowledge Palestinian suffering; and to eliminate any doubt of our solidarity with workers, artists, and oppressed people worldwide.

Sorry to be a Debby downer, but the way some fans will use “Not all black people look the same!!!!!” as a defense for Emily and Alastor’s designs is just so annoying to me as a black woman. Normally I’d agree with this, but in their cases it doesn’t work and that’s for two main reasons.
Reason #1: A lot of people point to the fact that black people can have their hair straightened, so Alastor and Emily’s designs are a-okay in that aspect. That is true, but black features don’t just start and end at their hair. There are a lot of features that indicate that someone is of African descent, like lips and nose shape. The issue is that they don’t have any discernible features that make it clear that they’re black/black coded. Alastor I can maybe sorta understand because he is supposed to be mixed, and there are plenty of mixed kids that can be completely white-passing, even if Viv clearly only made him mixed so she could get away with having him use voodoo, but Emily is just an absolute failure of representation. Her hair is completely straight, her skin is fucking gray, her lips are the same as almost half of the female characters, and she has no nose to speak of. Literally the only thing that hints to her being black is her audition sheet. Which brings me to
Reason #2: THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE BLACK VOICE ACTORS! Alastor’s VA is Iranian-American and Emily’s is Indian-American. If Viv really didn’t want to give either of them any physical black features, the very least she could’ve done to make it crystal clear that these characters were supposed to be black coded was to make sure that black voice actors were hired to portray them, like she did with Sera and Velvette. But she couldn’t even do that much!!! So if some dipshit really wanted to, they could feasibly argue that they could be any race they want, and what easily accessible evidence is there to prove them wrong???
And the worst part of all of this is that we know that Viv (or at least her character artists) are capable of drawing black/black coded characters with black features, so why could she barely do that for her main ones?! -10,000,000/10 representation, never let this woman draw again.
Those are damn valid complaints to have, Anon. Don't let this awful fandom tell you you're not allowed to have them, because god knows they've been trying very hard as of late.

Mary "Te Ata" Thompson Fisher
1895 - 1995 Lived to be 100 yrs old ...
Te Ata Thompson Fisher, whose name means “Bearer of the Morning,” was born Dec. 3, 1895, near Emet, Oklahoma. A citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, Te Ata was an accomplished actor and teller of Native American stories ... She received her early education in Tishomingo, and eventually went to the Oklahoma College for Women. While there, it was evident Te Ata had a natural talent for drama ... Her career as an actor and storyteller spanned more than 60 years. She worked as a storyteller to finance her acting career. She would tell Chickasaw legends, myths and chants, including performing rituals in native regalia ... Te Ata attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for one year. From there, she moved to New York City, where she met and married Clyde Fisher. During the 1930s she performed at summer camps in New York and New England ... In the prime of her career, she performed in England and Scandinavia, at the White House for President Franklin Roosevelt, for the King and Queen of Great Britain, and on stages across the United States ... Although Te Ata worked as an actor and drama instructor, she is best known for her artistic interpretations of Indian folklore, and for her children's book she co-authored on the subject ... Her world-renown talent has won her several honors including induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1957, being named The Ladies’ Home Journal Woman of the Year in 1976, being named Oklahoma's Official State Treasure in 1987, and having a lake near Bear Mountain in New York named in her honor ... She is also the subject of a video, God's Drum, the proceeds of which have supported the Te Ata Scholarship Fund for Indian students at her alma mater, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Te Ata died Oct. 26, 1995, in Oklahoma City, though her legacy and influence on the Native American storytelling traditions continues to this day.

why are there pictures of random people on your blog. were they paid/actors/models or just random people off the internet? you shouldn't put someone's picture on the internet without their permission. also, you should remind people that if they take inspiration from someone else and get proceeds from their art franchise that it should got to whomever inspired the art.
please have some respect for other people's privacy. its not okay even for a seemingly harmless art tutorial to use someone else's stuff for your own gain.
you might be infringing on copyright laws or something else that's related to personal information and the internet.
No way this ask isn't a troll svshdgc. I can only assume this is referring to my Native art tutorials because those are the tutorials I've done.
The "random people" I used in my art tutorial are all famous Native American celebrities, and all the photos are from professional photo shoots (many of them were placed there on sites like IMBD or their own official site by the actor themselves) and/or screenshots from films they were in that they were definitely paid for, and I can assure you they all have more money than I do and don't need my money. It's a little unfair, I think, to say "respect their privacy" about celebrities in these photos that I pulled from, who consented to having their likeness placed & seen by the general public that they then placed on the internet for the purpose of being seen.
How am I "using" them for "my own gain" exactly. I'm also Native American, and I made the tutorial as a response to the fact that I was constantly seeing White artists draw Native American people and characters as racial caricatures and with red skin, so I made it to show people to NOT do that and why it was wrong. I did it to widely benefit Native people and other artists, not myself. I didn't get any financial or popularity gain from this either, and so I fail to see how this was benefitting me or "selfish" on my part.
Do you say this & send this anon to every artist who makes an art tutorial or just the Indian?

A new take on Sunflowers!
(AU: No Spider-man powers. Hobie is a famous Punk Star/model/celebrity. He happens to go to an art opening and fell in love with the works and the artist)
"Ehhh!" Miles look at the bouquet of flowers and boxes of expensive gifts. He didn't even settle in his new studio apartment, he saw so many gifts being delivered to him. It was already the next day after the crazy party. Checking on the message card, "To my Sunflower, XOXOXOX, Hobie. 💜🌻🤘🏿"
He felt so flustered that he took the bouquets of flowers in his arms taking a big sniff. "They smell so good." He hums feeling his cheeks warm. The art opening did filled him with surprises, he didn't think he would catch a certain celebrity eyes.
-Last Night-
"Yes. Yes. We're heading there, now." The twenty seven year old punker slouches in the limo being bored by his assistant making calls to their manager. He rolled his eyes, so this is what being famous is like. The constant meet and greets, events, and talkshows. Ugh, the popularity didn't seem to stop because of his own Controversy nature, being chaotic to break anything.
The fans love that from him. His bandmates are meeting him at this art opening he so badly wanted to go. It was a refresher to find something that's his interest, but his agency being on his ass was pissing him off. He wanted freedom! To enjoy his time with his friends.
Now, his assistant is here being observant because the last time he was left alone, he had brawl with some jackass at a bar.
Figures...
He lit up his cigarette being annoyed, a good burn of nicotine will help him. "You're supposed to quit smoking." His assistant said being on her laptop.
"Come on, Mindy. I've been stressed all the damn time. I need this." He inhale being annoyed. "Fuck quitting."
"Then you have to deal with Bruce."
"Fuck him, too."
Mindy sighs before the limo stopped at the gallery called, "New Verse!" It's own by a famous man, who believes in contemporary arts for the diversity artists. Right now, there's three arts presenting their worsts that are upcoming to the art field.
Young BIPOC artists that were born and bred in New York City. Hobie honestly saw one painting on the pamphlet from invite from his good friend, Pavtri. A funny actor that changed the game by his bubbly adorable personality, his girlfriend is one of the artists. Yet, the punker wasn't focus on her inspirational Indian American women with abstract strokes and figures.
Oh no, he's eyes was curious when he saw a powerful, very old school graffiti style with a modern take of using media with bright bold colors and insane texts. The handwritten calligraphy had rough ink with profound words like slurs, then a beautiful black man figure crying. Tears all colorful with small texts inside. So many going all at once that he wanted to see in person. The piece had the sizes about 300 inches by four hundred inches on canvas mounted on wall. He had to see it.
When the limo parked, "We're here." His assistant said.
Hobie got out of the car seeing paparazzis already there to take photos of him.
Great, these fucking leeches
He wore his latest high end outfit; ripped tight black skinny jeans with patches by Farfetched brand, accessories like chains dripping to the side of hips. He wore expensive Prada Monolith and re-nylon black boots, and red laces. A Sex Pistol t-shirt personally shredded, Two belts around his waist, one he's actually wearing on his jeans but the other more for fashion that is slanted to the side. Then his Celine black leather jacket with his own custom touches having spikes and paint on it. His own rebellious style. Then tons of jewelry on him; bracelets from his wrists, necklaces, and diamonds piercings. All top with a very masculine cologne by Tom Ford.
His wicks bounces by every step of his heavy boots as he got out already having his black shades on to cover his eyes. He saw some of the fans waiting for him. "OH MY GAWD, IT'S HIM! HOBIE! HOBIE! WE LOVE YOU!"
"HEY, HOBIE COME LOOK OVER HERE!"
Hobie quickly walks away with a scowl, he tries hard not to ruin his black lipstick by Fenty. All this work to look good and these paparazzis never leave him alone!
Life as a Star
When he finally enters the gallery, he saw a group of body guards being there. It seems there was a lot of famous celebrities around, too.
Great...
He should've known Pavtri would invite more people for his girlfriend. His assistant said, "Oh wow, you can network with these other celebrities. There's Peni Parks, I heard she is famous for her robotics in Japan. Her company release the latest Androids."
"Huh, so we're about to get controlled by the government." Hobie snorted.
"Come on, Hobie. Not this again."
"It's true." He took off his shades to find other familiar faces like Miguel O'Hara, the CEO of Alchemax with a teenage girl wearing a black dress having to look at a painting. A famous man like that likes art? Huh, who knew.
Then Jess Drew, a popular lawyer never losing a case and a very expensive one at that. Hobie had follow her cases, seeing how she went to trial about defamation of character to a famous celebrity.
Petra, a famous three gold Olympic Athlete, she had one her titanium prosthetic leg wearing ankle pants with loafers and tight beige sweater. Her brown pixie hair cut had a shave to the left side showing off her pierced ears.
Then Ben Riley, a famous skater. Noir-
Aye, no way he's here!
Noir is a very popular contemporary artist that causes many controversy on society's politics. One of the most respected activists, too. He would shred his own work in front of auction if he doesn't like the buyer. The man stays hidden with his black mask. Hobie respected that man, too bad his works are out of his price range, if he could get his hands on it.
One popular piece was a Rubik's cube that he presented in a gallery then mix it all up. Then place it on a white pedestal. The price of that work started off two billion.
Bonkers, Hobie knows. But that piece started a massive wave for the hidden artists. Noir seems to know Petra and Ben.
Interesting...
He noticed a popular street artist, activist, and poet name Zero. Kaine, a famous game streamer on Twitch. Kitty, a popular influencer. Peter Parker, a famous American Actor.
So many blokes here!
"Oh, look there's Gwen!" She spotted a familiar Pop Punk singer standing with her own female band, which is her girlfriend drummer, Margo and Silk, a girl who plays the guitar.
"Aye," Hobie was about to go over until, he stops when his eyes caught the art piece he been yearning to see. When he enters the room to find more works.
His eyes on the large piece, he took in every single detailed. "Mindy, luv. Can you please give me wine?"
"Sure thing, Hobie." She went out of the room to leave him to admire the works.
Hobie saw the artists name and description, "A cry for Help! By Miles G. Morales..." He read seeing the materials being made by spray paint, acrylic paint and other stuff. He didn't want to read anymore, so he can try to figure out the meaning of the work.
Taking a closer look, he saw details of Brooklyn, police brutality, drugs, and struggle. Then a light white out line of a man and woman with child that is very hard to see. If you're not paying attention, a person would think it's a decorative add-on.. Then more Corporate brands, then drug names, and money prices. The background of blue shading with imagery of activism. So many things going on that represented the struggle for black people, it touched Hobie. Especially the image of the black man crying.
What surprised him is the soft touch up to imply make up, the figure had a smudge light lip gloss and glittery eyes, his skin cover with light newspaper textures with to-day's and past events of black trans struggles, and racism.
Bloody beautiful...
Mindy came by to hand him his glass a wine, she hums, "Your eyeliner is smudging."
"Thanks, darling." Hobie wipe the tear off his eye, "It's a fantastic piece, innit?"
"It's really sad..." Mindy frowns at the painting, "Crazy how colorful it is. Like they want you to be happy but when you look at it longer... you see the true ugliness of America."
Hobie sips his wine with a nod, "Exactly. It's perfect. How much is it?"
"300k."
"What? So little?"
"He's a new artist in the field. He's been popular through social media, but not in galleries. It's a different wave." She explained.
"Pfft, and he's black?"
"Yeah."
"Figures. Always the black man getting the short end of the stick." Hobie took out his black card, "I'll double the price."
"Are you sure?" Her eyes widen.
"Yes, I'm sure. I got payed from that stupid Pepsi commercial so I'm winning to buy this at a reasonable price." He said.
"I'll look for the seller. Stay here." She said before going to find them.
Hobie had no problem staying when he can admire this painting. Unaware of a black hooded man standing next to him. "You been looking at this piece for a while, huh?"
"It's a powerful piece." Hobie glanced over to find the person wearing a black hoodie.
"Meh, it's ight." He casually said.
"Are you bloody mad? This is one of the best works I've seen and trust me, I've seen bullshit artists from France, Japan, even the MET." He snorted.
"Gayatri's work is amazing. Zero's installation is freakin' cool." He added, "They are actually showing real struggles as women of color."
"I'll see for myself, but this right here! This is where it's at." Hobie said proudly.
The Hooded man chuckles, "Alright, but take your time looking at the other works." He left with that.
Hobie rolled his eyes but his nose tickle of scents of Sunflowers and tropical shea butter. "Who was he?" He mutter to himself, before going to the next work. The artist made five pieces. In the room there was only four massive works.
It seems Hobie fell in love with the artist, because the second work he loves it even more. It was a massive photo of a black male punker with tattoos, so much piercing on his face and had this scary look with so much spikes and ripples on his clothing. He had intense makeup, but the photo is only black and white.
The figure had a charming smile with his tongue out and wink while he holds a bouquet of sunflowers. The Sunflowers were painted in cartoon like, and there was other paintings of feminine and cutesy imagery. Stickers, and spray painted text. Hobie quickly read the name of the work, "A New Take on Sunflowers: Triptych Part 1 by Miles G. Morales."
Hobie went back to look at the piece, the Sunflowers were brighter almost glowing with youth. "A New Take on Sunflowers... By old Vinny?" He did love this work. He saw how the Punker represented gender fluidity, to embrace their culture yet love the things that aren't represented in their lifestyle. It could also show how someone 'scary' looking have a softer side by holding the flower with care and love.
"Hobie, your bandmates are here." Mindy came back to tell him.
"Be there." Hobie didn't wanna see them when he had these works to admire. The next painting was next to the punker photo. This time the second painting is a photo in black and white of two black women kissing being in the Ghetto of New York. They hold their Sunflowers. They had on weave, bright gold jewelry, tight clothing being so happy to be together.
Now that's love.
His eyes saw the color of the jewelry being the same yellow as the Sunflowers, and more happier texts and doodles around the two. The women had on wedding rings on, celebrating their marriage.
Hobie chuckles, "Cute." He saw the third part of this work. This one is a Puerto Rican mother, how did he know she's Puerto Rican? The massive flag in the background, and the woman sitting while braiding her daughter's hair with a soft gentle smile. The little Afro-Latina smiling at her big Sunflower as it aims at the two. It's a beautiful piece of mother and child.
Shit, why these works are affecting me so much
Hobie felt tears coming down his cheek, he never felt like this before. It's so beautiful and powerful. He needs them. He wants them in his penthouse!
"Hobie?" Mindy asked.
He quickly turns to her with his eyeliner already smudge, "I want all of these. Go buy them!"
"What? Hobie, you can't be-" Hobie glares at her. "Alright. Alright, I'll let the seller know!" She sighs, "Also, Karl and the rest of the band is here. Go say hi!"
"Ugh, fine." Hobie went to find his friends while his assistant went off to find the seller, again. His goal is to find the fifth work.
"Hey Hobs! What up, man?" His best friend, Karl high five him, he's the bass player of the band.
Riri chuckles, "Hey, share the love, bro!" She grins widely being the guitarist.
Mattea nodded, "Hey, Hobie." The drummer of the band.
Hobie gave them a hug, "Aye, mates. How's it going?"
"Great. With all these talkshows and trying to make our own shit, ugh we're exhausted." Riri said.
"Yeah, I released my own beer brand. Crazy, huh?" Karl chuckles.
"My own shirts." Mattea nodded, "We need to be smart because who knows what will happen with this band."
"What do you mean?" Hobie frowns.
"You know, we're all so busy trying to get our name out. It'll be better just in case if our band fall apart since you're busy with movies. Me with modeling." Riri added.
"And life." Mattea nodded.
"That's true. Ugh, we need to support each other. We still need to make our new album too." Hobie groans by this constant work load. "Fucking Bruce."
The rest groan. "Hobie! Hobie! I'm so happy you made it!" The group turns to find Pavtri holding his girlfriend's hand having to pull her with him. She giggles seeing how happy her boyfriend is.
"Hey, bruv. Been awhile." Hobie greeted him, "Luv. Nice to meet you." He holds Gayatri's hand and kissed it being a gentlemen when he wants to.
"Hahaha, nice to meet you, Hobie! I'm a big fan of Spider-Band!" She said.
"Have you seen, my sweet Gayatri's work!" Pavtri asked the punker with stars in his eyes. "Huh! HUH?"
"Oh honey," The female artist giggles, "He's been in Miles' room the whole time. I won't lie, his work is so good." She holds her side shoulder bag, "He even customized my bag. See!"
Hobie's eyes widen at the bag seeing the painting with Sunflowers and cute characters. "What? How? Can he do custom works?"
"Yeah, he does. I gave him one of my fabric works." She giggles, "You really like it, huh? It's moving, right?"
"I need to check it out." Riri said, "First some wine!"
"Same!" Mattea nodded.
"More like a crush." Karl knows when his best friend has a crush, it's very rare but it's obvious to see.
Gayatri giggles, "Really! Awe, you know he's single and ready to mingle." She loves playing match maker, with stars in her eyes being excited. "Zero, can tell you, he's so ready for a new man in his life!"
Pavtri pouted at the punker with fake tears, "Hobie, you promised you would admire my darling flower! My Gayatri's beautiful work! She took these beautiful hands," he holds her dainty hands, "and created this!" He jumps over to an installation of a blue cut out thick papers handing by a thread to show an abstract figure in blue. "All the dates we had to miss!"
"I will we have all the time." Hobie tries to explained then he was yank by Pavtri being forced to look at all of Gayatri's work. He even explain each one of them in great detailed.
Hobie spotted the last work of Miles G. Morales, it's at the end of the gallery on its own with nothing else around. He wanted to go see it, but he had to make his way through Zero's work, too. He didn't mind Gayatri's and Zero's work, they are amazing artist, but something about Miles' work. It got him, he needs to see the last painting.
After going through all his well known friends and admiring Zero's work. He found Miguel O'Hara's daughter gasping at Miles' painting, "Papá! Did you see that painting with the mother and daughter! It's so cute! Does he do custom work?" She asked, "I want one of me and mamá!"
"Alright. Let's see if we can book one." Miguel happily said to his daughter, his whole grumpy mood toward Peter changed when it was his daughter.
Jess giggles, "That Miles Morales is making waves with his work, being new to this game. I'm impressed."
"Yeah, the kid is freakin' good. He actually got some peeps from LA looking at his work. That kid is going to places."
The owner of the gallery is a tall thing black man, "Alright, gather around." Everyone went to see the speech which Hobie cursed himself, he was so close to see the final painting.
He smiles happily, "I like to thank my wife, Jess for support. My good friend Aaron for helping pitch in. This beautiful gallery is meant to bring all young diverse artists to the art game. I hope you enjoyed Gayatri's amazing works focusing on the hardship of Indian American women identity and gender roles. Zero's beautiful installations on her poems and politics of today." The two women artists came up with a smiling widely. "Sadly Miles couldn't make it today but his work focus on the struggles of Black and Brown acceptance in America."
Hobie frowns, he was hoping to meet the artist. Gayatri made it seem he was around. How odd?
"They are the future for young Contemporary artists, we know the field mostly represents a certain group, so I hope to help them achieve their careers with this gallery." He holds his glass of champagne being happy.
Then, a man in black hood came walking past the group surrounding the artists and owner of the gallery. Jess' husband finished, "I hope you enjoy the rest of the opening."
Hobie spotted the black hoodie male carries a bucket of paint, then when the artists and owner moved away. "Hey, what is he doing?" Karl asked out loud spotting the figure.
The figure throws black paint on the final painting by Miles. Everyone gasps even the security was about to go over. "Oh my god! Why would he do that?"
Hobie's mouth dropped in shock, "What the fuck, bruv!" He shouted out loud in anger.
The figure grins widely seeing the security guards being stopped by the owner, he took out his bright yellow Spray paint, and wrote in messy dripping text, "Miles wazz here!" He put down his hoodie revealing his face.
Hobie's eyes widen at such a handsome young man; big honey brown doe eyes, wearing earrings, septum nose piercing, and a bright glowing face. His hair a tapered Afro with a fade. Wait, this is Miles? Miles G. Morales?
"Easy. Easy. He's an artist. This is his installation piece." The owner explained.
Miles let the painting dripped showing how the painting still revealed a bit. "I call this, 'I'ma do my own thing.'" He grins widely at the crowd.
Noir nodded giving a loud clap in approval. The rest of the crowd awed, by the piece looking beautiful with the add on drips and markings. Gwen shouted, "Holy shit, Miles!"
"Wow, amazing!" Pavtri claps like crazy being so excited, "I was filled with so many emotions!" Everyone went back to looking at other works.
Hobie finally got the chance took a look at the painting, "Ruining it, eh?" He saw Miles finished talking to Pavtri, who hugs him before leaving them.
"Is it ruin to you?" Miles stood with a grin, he wore an oversize black hoodie, some tight jeans and black and yellow Jordans.
"Nah, it's perfect. I believe chaos, luv." Hobie grins at him.
Miles giggles, "I bet, you known for that."
"So you heard of me?"
"I mean, who doesn't know Hobie Brown? The lead singer of Spider band." He giggles in amusement, "So, I heard you're gonna buy my works. I'm surprised. I thought my shit would be too much for a celebrity."
"Pfft, I'm a different kind, Sunflower." He sips his wine, "I always love works about black empowerment and to support a fellow one at that."
"Aye, gracias papí." Miles spoke Spanish.
"Ah, so you're Puerto Rican?"
"I'm half black and half Puerto Rican, my parents are over there." He chuckles seeing the punker looking over to find the same woman from the painting and a little girl.
"Ahh, inspiration?"
"They were the reason for my Sunflower series." The artist explained, "Honestly, I was so nervous for tonight because I'm a new comer and being with these amazing artists of New York- Ugh, I can't believe I'm here."
"That's why you doubted your work?"
"Pretty much." Miles admitted, "Funny, you're easy to talk to."
"I'm always listening, Sunflower." He leans over to get a closer look at the artist, "And I listen to the person I like."
Miles felt flustered then giggles, "Haha, funny."
"Oh yea? Gimme your number and let see if I'm playin?" He flirted with a deep voice. Miles didn't know what possess him to hand him his smartphone but he did. The Punker happily type his number into the phone and put his private social media too.
"Text me, Sunflower." He winks at the artist as he handed back his phone.
"Okay." Miles did the basic hey.
Hobie chuckles, "So soon? You really want me."
"No-no, I mean- awe man! I suck at this stuff." Miles pouts.
"Oh yeah? So you want me to be forward," The punker lift his chin up about to lean in, their lips close to almost touching, "Because I can."
"Eh?" MIles' honey brown eyes widen, he didn't think the punker would be this bold!
"NO! My big bro!" A little girl ruffling shoves Hobie away from her brother.
"Billie!" Miles saw his seven year old sister, "Awe, come here." Thank god, because he wasn't ready for a kiss like that. His face felt so warm.
Billie happily hugs her brother being picked up, "Yeah! Only I give kisses to mi hermano!" She kisses her brother's cheek. "Your painting of me and mamí esta may bueno, hermano!"
"Awe, thank you, Billie-boo."
Hobie only rub his nose then sniff. Damn, he almost got to taste him. Shame, but he does like it when they play hard to get. Licking his lips, his eyes yearn for the artist. Something in him wants him. Putting on his charming smiles, "So this is your little sister?"
"Yeah, I am Billie!" The little girl stated, "Who you are? You don't kiss my brother!"
"Sorry, she loves me too much." Miles giggles. "Billie, this is Hobie. He's a popular singer. Hobie this is Billie."
"Hmph," Billie pouted giving a look at the punker.
"She is small. What is she? four?"
"I'm seven years old!" Billie huffs, "I am a BIG GURL!" She hugs her brother around his neck.
"Eck, Billie. Not too tight." Miles almost choked. "Sorry, she was like this with my friends."
"No problem. I love lil sprogs." He chuckles lowly, "Also, how do I book for a custom painting?"
"Oh, on my social I have a link to my studio website and there's a form for custom orders. You really gonna buy another painting from me?"
"Of course." He saw his assistant near him, "Mindy, darling. Have you met the seller?"
"Yes, sir. They are willing to sell all five works." She said.
"Alright, add another one. A custom on from Miles' website." Hobie smirks widen when he saw how Miles' eyes widen.
"Alright, if you wish to purchase it now, we need to go to the owner and have it ready for shipping." Mindy hums.
"Very well."
"Also, we should be leaving soon. You have a recording session tomorrow." She hums.
"Alright. Alright." He winks at Miles being a show off, he lifts Miles' hands up to kiss it, "It was wonderful seeing you. I hope we can meet again... without me buying paintings- perhaps a date?"
Miles' face went super flustered by the punker. He never thought this famous singer would be so sweet, so charming, so damn cute! "Huh uh." That's all came out of his mouth.
Billie side eye at her brother seeing how shy he became. "Lil one, I hope you will protect your brother from untamed men." Hobie smiles at her before handing her a crumble hundred dollar bill.
"Aye, Ayi! Cap'n!" Billie nodded at the tip.
Miles said, "Wait, you don't have to-" Hobie shrugs, "She can buy whatever she wants with it. Anyway, I'll see you later."
"Oh... Okay. Bye Hobie." Miles hugs his baby sister tightly feeling so bashful, his heart fluttering.
The punker left with a large receipt of five expensive paintings. He wave his fellow friends goodbye.
In the limo, he had a big smile on his face thinking about his Sunflower. "Never see you this happy? You really like the artist, huh?"
He sighs lovingly, "Yeah... do you know where he lives? I want to send him some flower." He breath exhale on the cold window letting it fog up, then he drew a crappy sunflower.
"On it." She nodded.
-Present Day-
Hobie chilling outside enjoying his pool after his record session. His Smartphone vibrating, he looks to find Miles calling him. "Sunflower! Surprised you called, miss me?" He flirted removing his dark shades.
"Hobie, I think you send me too many flowers...." He said.
"Oh? Fifty bouquets didn't come to you?"
"Fifty? There's like one, two, three.... forty nine-" Miles stops hearing the door bell, "Never mind, fifty."
"Then you got them all. How about the gifts?"
"Hobie, you shouldn't have sent this- I- It's nice of you for-" Hobie waves it off, "Nah, it's fine. I got money and wanted to spend it on you, Sunflower. Now, that you called- How about a lunch date?"
"Huh? A date?"
"Yup." Hobie sips on his sparkling water.
"Ummm," Miles felt bashful again, "Sure... where-where?"
"I'll pick you up. I know a great place. Also, I might bring another bouquet for you." Hobie happily said.
Miles nodded, "Okay. Do i need to wear anything?"
"I prefer lingerie."
"Huh!"
"Joking. I'm joking, luv. Something you want to wear. Don't worry it's a chill spot."
"Alright, man." The artist bite his bottom lip, "I... I don't do sex on the first date, by the way...."
"Oh? I'm surprised you expected me too." The singer chuckles.
"No, I mean- I'm so sorry that's rude. I just have to always-" Hobie chuckles, "It's okay, luv. I promise I'll give you a kiss on the cheek."
"Just a kiss on the cheek." Now he sounded disappointed.
"Or you want on the mouth with tongue?"
Miles never felt so embarrassed, "Your a jerk, Hobie Brown."
"You seem to like it." He laughs.
"I do actually." His pouty lip more enhance as he listens to Hobie's voice. Something about this punker got him thinking about him. He had a beautiful dream with him and it feels like he known him. Its weird.
"Then, I'll pick you up soon. See you later, Sunflower."
"See you, Hobie." Miles hears him hung up, then he hung up. The artist never felt like this. Touching his lips feeling the cracks of his dry skin, "I need to moisturized! Lip scrub! Look good for him!" He rushes over to the bathroom to get ready.
A special bond formed between the artist and the singer.

its interesting that theres this pervasive idea of "it was less offensive back then" about media bc like. it wasnt. people were just socially allowed to get away with more - because there was more isolation of marginalized groups to prevent speaking up.
books went through publishing houses that were very white and male dominated (and anyone not that knew they had to agree with them or else risk, at best, career suicide), movies went through film studios that were the same. more access to video making materials with vhs cameras sparked more indie film movements, but indie bookbinding never had that kind of traction outside of stapled together zines. the voice that "public" criticism would come from would be newspaper columns and other professional reviewers who were also similarly in line with the hegemony. there was no public voice for marginalized people except for the occasional person (author, director, actor, etc) who broke through and then was forced into the role of public activist and spokesperson for their identity. there was movements for better stuff obviously, unions and movements for women or black artists or so on, and they did make big landmarks of progress and this isnt to discount them or any of the people who fought so hardly for change
its just that to me the thing that really broke through that chokehold on the understood public opinion is the advent and popularity of the internet, where suddenly public opinion could change things and could be expressed where people could see and hear you and, for a long while, not immediately hurt you irl. you could talk to other trans people about frustration with trans roles in movies, or talk to other natives about how theres no good native books. support for indie projects could be globalized, mistreatment could be whistleblown without needing to find an in person support source to take your story, rejection of fringe projects wasnt as much of a death sentence
almost all* offensive shit has always been offensive, you just didnt know it because you had on blinders of privilege & construction of society purposely kept that criticism isolated and unheard
*the only reason to say almost all is that very rarely some offensive things are only so in hindsight because they reference modern constructions of bigotry that didnt exist when the original thing was being written. like in my own experience/opinion some older usage of the word indian for indigenous americans makes sense because that was truly the only word being used - but even if 'savage' was the only word being used, that wouldnt make savage not super offensive. this can esp be true for things with quickly shifting language like queer politics, with transsexual and then trans* being the inclusive words to use for a while before transgender and trans. ykwim

11 years ago today, my first novel The Brotherhood was published. 5 years ago today, the second edition of The Brotherhood was published.
The Brotherhood remains my most popular book. I've been talking with some people in TV about making it into a limited TV series. If so, it would be as groundbreaking, if not more so, than the book: the first mystery/drama TV series with mostly Indian-American characters set in the USA, that I can think of.
Because of that, the project still remains an up-hill battle. Almost all American TV series with People of Color are comedies, and despite what they claim, very few industry insiders are interested in financing and screening content that's genuinely original and challenging. I'm looking to connect with more people in the TV/film industry, particularly of South Asian descent, who can make this happen: content acquirers, writers, directors, producers, actors, actresses, agents etc. If you know anyone who can help, please send them my way.
It's been 4 years since the publication of The Run and Hide, the second volume of The Brotherhood Chronicle. Despite getting the least acclaim and having won no awards, this remains my personal favorite book, and a darling for Desai diehards.
The Dance Towards Death was published 3 years ago, and it's won 13 literary honors in that time, my most acclaimed book so far.
In about a month, it will be the 10th anniversary of Good Americans, my most provocative book and a subject of divided opinion. Its anthology sequel, Bad Americans, is my longest and most ambitious book to date, a novel and short story collection in one. I'm working hard on it, and the polished manuscript should be ready to send out to agents etc. around January 2024.
I've stayed the course and maintained my literary independence for more than a decade. Let's see if I can do that and still convince a major publisher to bring Bad Americans out into the literary sphere and get it the wide acclamation and readership I believe it deserves.
The New Wei Literary Movement and its associated Salons are gaining traction. I've met many writers, artists, musicians, actors and filmmakers over the last six months and I hope we've inspired them to produce new dynamic projects.
I'm also working to interview provocative artists of many mediums and produce articles on them. Ultimately I plan to write a book on the wider literary/artistic scene, our tumultuous decade and The New Wei.
Then there are my travels: recently to Germany/Austria/Italy, across the USA and soon to Greece and Turkey too. I know a lot of people have been screaming for me to write a non-fiction book about all these crazy adventures, and that might finally happen.
In addition, there's plenty afoot at the library too: our annual Southeast Queens Author Festival at Cambria Heights Library on 9/30 at 1:30pm, dynamic planned panels for ALA in Baltimore and San Diego, a renovated Teen Center, new art installations, and plenty more.
Things have been busy in the best possible way, and I'm grateful for it.

Shakespeare Weekend!
French-born American painter and illustrator, Jean Charlot (1898-1979) illustrated King Henry the Sixth: Part Three, the last of the three-part play and the fourteenth volume of the thirty-seven volume The Comedies Histories & Tragedies of William Shakespeare, published by the Limited Editions Club (LEC) from 1939-1940. The plays were first acted in 1592. The second part was published anonymously in 1594, and the third part in 1595. All three parts were published in the folio of 1623.
The popularity of the Mexican printmaker, Jose Guadalupe Posada, is due in part to the work of Jean Charlot. Working primarily in Mexico, Charlot first saw Posadas work being sold on street corners in 1922. Posada’s original expressive style struck Charlot and he would become a contributor to the publication of catalogues on Posada’s work in 1928 and 1930. Charlot was a part of the Mexican Mural Movement, and his own work has been grouped and exhibited with with names such as Diego Rivera and David Siqueiros. Charlot illustrated other books including Tito’s Hats by actor Mel Ferrer, Garden City Publishing, 1940; Carmen, the Limited Editions Club, 1941; and Springtime, Tales of the Cafe Rieu, 1956. Charlot became highly sought after by publishers who wanted illustrations for books having to do with Mexico. When Charlot was first asked to illustrate Part Three of King Henry the Sixth he was not very excited. He had read a rather critical analysis of the text. But upon reading it for himself he became inspired saying:
The very defects from the point of view of the modern theatre-goer seemed good qualities to me, who had seen in Mexico medieval mysteries and historical pageants performed by Indian actors on open air stages: the scenery a mere hanging rope, the facial expression reduced to naught by the use of masks....The drawings were, then, to function, hemmed between the strong guiding style of the play and the usual problems of illustration: subservience to format, equivalence to the black-and-white of the printed page.
The illustrations are reproduced from drawings by the artist. All volumes in the set were printed in an edition of 1950 copies at the Press of A. Colish, and each was illustrated by a different artist, but the unifying factor is that all volumes were designed by famed book and type designer Bruce Rogers and edited by the British theatre professional and Shakespeare specialist Herbert Farjeon. Our copy is number 1113, the number for long-standing LEC member Austin Fredric Lutter of Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Rauch had been told that the three pinnacles of theatre as a popular art in the Western world were Greek tragedy, English Renaissance drama, and American musicals. As a senior, he founded his own theatre company, and mapped out a mashup of “Medea,” “Macbeth,” and “Cinderella”—one exemplar of each style—so that they could be performed simultaneously. It was a way of seeing what they had in common, and how theatre could return to its populist roots.

After that production was over, Rauch, Carey and their friends, calling themselves the Cornerstone Theater Company, drove to North Dakota, where they recruited locals to put on “Hamlet” in an old vaudeville theatre. At one point, Carey took over pouring drinks in a bar so that the owners could perform. The locals they recruited worried that Shakespeare’s language was too arcane, so the company modernized it, converting “arrant knave” to “downright prick,” for instance. (They ultimately changed that one: “downright prick,” they were told, was something “smart-ass college kids” would say. A rancher suggested “horse’s rear,” and that went into the script instead.)

Rauch stayed in L.A. for fifteen years. He left in 2007 to become the artistic director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, one of the country’s oldest and largest repertory-theatre companies, in Ashland, a small town just north of the California border. Rauch promised to expand its repertoire to include non-Western classics and to diversify both the company and the staff. He also announced a project called American Revolutions: The United States History Cycle—thirty-seven new plays to be written by a diverse group of playwrights and loosely modelled on the scope of Shakespeare’s collected works. Within a decade, actors of color made up around seventy per cent of the company, and they were putting on adaptations of Indian, Chinese, and Latin American classics alongside their Shakespeare productions. Meanwhile, American Revolutions, overseen by Alison Carey, achieved wide renown.

@unrestrainedbalderdash said they don't care if I put Jonathan Crane into my idea of how I would do an adult Scooby cartoon. And since they are someone who I really liked and I really just need one person saying "hey is okay" to me to overly babble over something here we are.
Disclaimer: I did not watch the Velma show. I saw the trailer and reviews but that is it. This is also not a recreation of it. It's merely how I would do an adult scooby doo story with a more representative cast.
▫️Alpha Kappa Scobby (I'm bad naming stuff)
Is time to grow up.
With the end of high school comes the anxiety inducing question of what to do next? To the Mystery Inc. the answer was always obivous: continuing solving mysteries together. Unfortunally fate appeared to have other plans. Between parental presure, a crashing economy, a shitty job market and an investigation that abelit sucefull ended up breaking the Mystery Machine, hurting a civilian and facing the local authorities ultimatum that they could not keep their unregulated detective agency it appears to be the end.
But the thing is mysteries never ever leave the gang. Where they are things happen and as they face the monsters of adult life other monsters may appear on the way. Are they ready?
▫️The Gang
- Velma is our main characther. She is a second generation imigrant kid from an indian-american family, possibly autistic (mostly represented by her sensory issues and examples of masking) and a genius who suffers from anxiety and the pressure that both comes with societal expectations related to prejudice, familial expectations (especially as a second generation imigrant) and being a gifted kid. She is also a lesbian.
- Shaggy is Shaggy. They are a possibly stoner black latino (he may be a stonner or it may be just harmfull steriotypes possibly both) and they are also ace and non-binary using they/then pronouns. Norville is their deadname and the fact their parents call them that is a dead give away of the time of people they are. Shaggy was adopted and their parents are upped middle class white guys who adopted three POC kids and act extremily white saviour over it. Their bio parents are implied to be scientistis at Star Labs that died in an freaky accident when they eere still little. They may have something to do with Scooby being a talking dog. Though they met by Shaggy adopting a stray puppy. Their personality is still the same. Except for the parents issues. Like they are still the same glutonous coward who cares a lot for their friends and likes bad horror movies.
- Scooby is Scooby. Like nothing changed at all about him. Except that outside the gang people do question the fact he is a talking dog. Since their world is really weird people go from allien to failed scientific experiment of either LexCorp or Starlabs. The more accepted theory is that he is the first non-human to manifest a meta gene. He isn't being studies because he flied over radar until the gaang started solving mysteries and at this point he was too popular plus the governent had other more important issues going on. So he is just a fact.
- Daphne is a girl who defy expectations. She is weird. She has two mons (a thing I know is cannon on the Velma cartoon and am using), one is a british martial artist and the other a american fashion designer and she got very deep into both of her mons careears. She has some relatives in jail and she learned a bunch with them. She loves to learn except not the school stuff, so her grades were meh and people usually saw her as just a pretty face, even though she has a bunch of great skils like fighting, fashion, faking signatures, lock picking, stealth, acting, a bunch of sports and more. She is bissexual and has a huge crush on both Elvira and Hex Girls. She also loves escape artists (being good at scaping herself) and is a fan of bad horror movies and campy actors. She also has a crush on Fred.
- Fred is a sweet bissexual himbo and he is very clearly neurodivergent and definitvaly autistic. He stims a lot, has dificulty getting social clues, misses most sarcasm and some abstract expressions, has a huge special interest in traps, sometimes goes non-verbal, just the whole book. He is a rich white boy but fails to meet his misoginistic racist parents expectations not only by hangin with the gaang but by having a disability. His parents never took him to a doctor to be diagnosed because they believed it would bring shame to the family to have a disabled kid and just hoped he would "grow out of it". He does have some internalized prejudice but it's working to be better. He also has a huge crush in Daphne, is a very supportive and loyal friend and infodumps people a lot.
▫️The Pilot
The pilot episode starts with the gaang reciving their ultimatum and having to undergo an state aproved course to became private investigators and be abble to keep the Mystery Inc. going. Shennanigans issue and they all end up failing.
Daphne is too good on the self defense courses and also may have caused a teacher who implied she would need to do sexual favors for him if she hoped to pass in his boring law class to never be able to walk again. Luckily he was too afraid to press charges.
Fred keept trying to insert trap making into the course to ridiculous extremes.
Shaggy broke the vending machine, ate all the food and also just keept running away from the clues in all the pratical texts. They answers also mostly involved running and getting uninvolved.
No one knew if Scooby should do dog training or humam courses and he ended in a confusing stream of buerocracy.
Velma should by all means had suceeded though and the only reason she failed was racial bias. She tries to brush it off, after all she was not going to be a detective on her own anyway and all her friends failed, but it clearly afects her and this will be a thing hanging over her head the whole season. The episode ends with Velma discovering she got approved to a full scholarship on a fictional ivvy league university outisde of Crystal Cove she had applied more for her parents sakes than her in criminology.
▫️They failed what now?
After a whole debate during the second episode and the gaang being supportive even if it means it is the definitive end for them, Velma decides to go to college. Of course trying to keep together the whole gaang somehow ends up involved with the campus.
- Shaggy and Scobby get a job at the college cafeteria that Shaggy uses to move into a trailer in the college parking lot (that they plans into turning in a food truck) so they can get away from their transphobic parents. Scobby of course moves with them.
- With help of white rich cis man priviledge Fred gets accepted to the same school but into architeture (he does uses this knoledge to plan traps but also realizes he likes projecting rooms on general). The thing is thanks to missanderstanding a sarcastic coment from Velma he ends up being part of a very "bro" fraternity. It's mostly played for laughs as he definitivally doesn't belong there but also accidentaly starts turning the guys into better people. But also features on Fred understanding his priviledge and the internalized prejudices his parents dumped on him and evolving past them and also dealing with ableism.
- Daphne decided to try to work in a close by cafe and became roomates with a goth girl called June that works with Shaggy and Scooby. Both are fired and decide to open an etsy store together. She is also doing an online course on fashion. Velma has a crush on June and June is implied to have a criminal past. The etsy store is mostly used for laughs though it also is used to show Daphne dealing with being different from soceity expectations and the hardships of having a small bussiness.
▫️The Plot
The story focuses on their adventures on campus as they deal with adult life but also as weird things keep happening and students end up either getting murdered or disapearing all the time. While focused on episodic shennanigans with characther growth as the linear aspect there are some key episodes that show that there's a major conspiracy involving the university's past and the looming presence of an white supremacist cult.
▫️Cool and all but where is Jonathan Crane?
The thing is if I was writing this series I would make the connection with DC be mostly references with some few special episodes starting on the second season (including the obligatory Batman team-up and a episode were Riddler, who is on his P.I arc, is hired to the same case the Mystery Inc is in and they have to work together). So we would have things like Scooby possibly having the metagene, Velma being a Batman fangirl and having some batfam merch in the middle of her detective merch, Fred being a Green Arrow fan and buying trap material for Ace Chemicals and LexCorp, Daphne mentioning her uncle Alfred or Shaggy's bio parents having been Star Lab scientistis. Some name drops like WayneTech or Lex Luthor.
The exception being Jonathan Crane. Jon is an actual relevant secundary characther. After mysterious circunstances involving a fight with the dean, a recomendation letter and an ultimatum, Jonathan leaved Gotham University and became a teacher at the Yet To Be Named University where the gang is.
His disciplines are an eletive about phobias, psychophatology and forensic psychology. He is famous over the campus for being a genius and a great teacher but also for being harsh, having extremely high standards and hard exams and just being creepy and really really weird. There is legit theories of him being some kind of cryptic or a ghost. He has the uncanny hability of walking without making any noise and being abble to be silent and quiet until he suddently scares someone with his presence. He speaks little outside the classroom and is always alone. And if someone tries to be friendly with him, he will just leave and let the person hanging. No one ever saw him eat only drink coffe (that may be spiked with whisky sometimes). He is mostly saw outside classes either writing/typing or reading (he only reads text books and horror stories). He has a crow in his office and while the bird is calm and sweet with him it sings creepy old childrem rhymes and it definitivaly attacked a student who got emotional over a bad grade and started screaming with Crane.
With all that being said Crane is Velma's fsvorite professor and she is his favorite student. He doesn't presure or mocks her and is fascinated by her theories and they can discuss psychology, chesmistry, literature and criminology for hours. They respect each other and have a deep understanding being fairly similar (and yes make Crane be also POC, prefencialy south asian), they are friends and with her family alway Velma sees Crane as a pseudo father-figure. Even Crane's bird Ichabod seems to also enjoy Velma a lot. The rest of the gang has more mixed views of Crane. He is always polite with them but he is also creepy as hell specially with Shaggy and Scooby as he asks them a lot of questions about their fears.
Every single time someone either dies or disappears everyone accuses Crane. He is ALWAYS a suspect. And Velma is his only defender (sometimes the gang as whole also). And he is always show to be innocent. But is also hinted that he is still planning and doing Scarecrow shit and while it's played for laughs the huge impact Crane and Velma's bond have to Velma overcoming her issues is a hint that when it finally happens of Crane being the guilty part and his Scarecrow persona coming to light it will break Velma's heart.

Do you have any voice headcannons for your shade of scales characters?
this is an amazing question. sos takes place in Naarm / Melbourne Australia, so a lot of characters have Australian accents which isn't overly common for a lot of voice head canon videos/etc (there are lots of characters from different backgrounds as well, and most have semi-Australian accent mixed with where they are from, but some do not - it is hard to find good voices as most are American and it is very much NOT an american story - something that I'm very into making sure that my characters and story isn't American and isn't adjusted to be easier for US default ism). so im just going to go over some common voice actors / descriptions and say "they're kinda like this" and give some mannerisms I use in the text! Emily: soft, very shy voice but has some confidence. so thinking characters like Glimmer from Shera or Horse from Centaurworld. Generally speaks with full words and doesn't like to shorten words. Katrina: Talks very fast, in short spurts and rambles easily. Vi from Arcane could work but not quite? She's really hard. I was inspired a lot by Peril from WOF when writing her so probably similar to Peril HCs. Jasper: Soft, kind male protagonist archetype with his voice. Thinking of how people might hc Clay from WOF or Alderheart from Warrior Cats. Hayden: Hayden's very much a typical "angsty" male protag type. So any characters that are similar to that kind of voice (think Zuko, Flame & Winter from WOF, and characters like that). Talks very fast. Hyeon: Hyeon's the character I very explicitly describe their voice multiple times. Its very raspy and almost dragon like as they can't shift between forms properly, so their voice is kind of "stuck". They don't speak much and when they do it sounds more formal than you'd expect. Other side characters that I have some info on:
Roxanne: Any character that's associated with Queen Scarlet from wof is kind of almost there? Also Marina (the music artist) as a lot of her songs are Roxanne's theme songs and I made her while listening to a lot of that kind of music. Very sly, very controlled voice. She doesn't lose her composure often so Sen: I havent' posted much stuff on her here yet but she defs has a very typical soft motherly voice, an actual nice mother who cares deeply for others.she would have a fairly heavy South Indian accent as she grew up there then moved to Australia.
also as a side note, the characters in SOS would probably have heavier australian accents than modern australian accents due to that the timeline of sos diverts in 2000, so less american tv and culture could influence accents.

Eddy Cobiness (1933 – 1996), Native American.
Eddy Cobiness was born in Warroad, Minnesota but was raised on the Buffalo Point Reserve in Eastern Manitoba. He signed all his works with his treaty number ’47’. Cobiness was a member of the so-called Native Group of Seven, also known as The Woodlands Group of Seven which came together in 1972.
The group included Norval Morrisseau, Daphne Odjig, Carl Ray (murdered in Sioux Lookout in 1978), Jackson Beardy (died of a heart attack in 1984 at the age of 40), Alex Janvier and Joe Sanchez.
After a career in the U.S. Army in the late ’50’s, where Eddy was a Golden Glove boxer, and a stint as a pulp-cutter and fisherman, he began to concentrate on painting. A treaty Ojibwa Indian, Cobiness had a large studio in Buffalo Point on the shore of Lake of the Woods, but was forced to move to Winnipeg in 1974 because of ill health.Eddy was given the nickname “Doc” by the artistic community for his support and care of his fellow native artists.
His art is in the private collection of Queen Elizabeth and Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien and actor Charlton Heston. Eddy died in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 1, 1996 from complications due to diabetes. He was 62.

Tributes to Bhupen Hazarika, one of India’s finest film musicians, on his 12th death anniversary (05/11/11). Bhupen Hazarika was a renowned Indian artist from Assam who wore many hats. He was a singer known for his rich baritone voice, a lyricist who wrote meaningful songs, a musician, poet, actor, editor, filmmaker, professor, and even a politician. His songs, mostly in Assamese, are loved for their themes of humanity and brotherhood and have been sung in various languages, including Bengali and Hindi. In West Bengal, Assam, and Bangladesh, his music is celebrated for promoting unity, justice, and empathy. Hazarika brought Assam and Northeast India’s culture and folk music to the broader Indian audience, significantly influencing Hindi cinema. He won many prestigious awards, including the National Film Award for Best Music Direction, the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and after his death, the Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna. He was also Chairman of the Sangeet Natak Akademi. His work included adaptations of American Black Spirituals learned from his friend Paul Robeson. His song “Manush Manusher Jonno” is highly regarded in Bangladesh, and his “Bistirno Parore” reflects influences from Robeson’s “Ol’ Man River.” A documentary film about his life, “Moi Eti Zazabor” (‘I am a Wanderer’), was started in 1986 by directors Waesqurni Bora and Arnab Jan Deka, featuring music by Jim Ankan Deka. Despite production delays, work on the film continues, aiming for release in multiple languages. Two books by co-director Arnab Jan Deka document the film’s journey, with one released at an event organized by Hazarika himself.
