*Titan War Era*
A random tree nymph: So, what are your powers?
Zeus: I can control lightning and thunder!
Poseidon: I can manipulate water and cause earthquakes!
Hades: I can control the dead and make some very shiny rocks with a lot of economic value!
Demeter: I can sustain life through the growth and harvesting of plants!
Tree nymph: Hmm...
Demeter: *raises eyebrow* I created you.
Tree nymph: 0.0
Tree nymph: O-Okay then--
Hestia: I make home-cooked meals!
Hera: I... uh... I'm family glue!!!
Tree nymph:
Tree nymph: Those are not really--
Zeus: No, trust us. With the way we all are, these two are our most important members.

Hestia: No. If you think for one second that father will treat us right you guys are lying to yourself. Because we know who he is. And what he does! This is what he does! *points at Zeus crying* Hestia: And we must fight for ourselves. I have a message for you father. You can eat us, and try to manipulate us and try to harm the ones we love. But do you see that. *points at where there's fire* Hestia: Fire is catching. And If we burn you burn with us!

Percy Jackson canonically likes shadow travel. Might I redirect you to Chapter 6 My Cookies Get Scorched, lines 1-6, page 90, of The Last Olympian
"I don't recommend shadow travel if you're scared of:
A) The dark
B) Cold shivers up your spine
C) Strange noises
D) Going so fast you feel like your face is peeling off
In other words, I thought it was awesome."
Percy LIKES to shadow travel. Seriously, there is so much Percico fodder in this book. TLO is just full of Percico hints. Even in The Titans Curse in the last chapter, I Get A New Enemy For Christmas, Percy has a lot of protective feelings for Nico that, if Annabeth wasn't the main love intrest, would absolutely be seen as an unknown growing crush. Or at the very least Platonic Brotherly love that Percy has for Nico. Percico is what got me into the fandom in the first place so I'm biased but I'm no longer sure if I like Lovers Percico or Brothers Percico more. Like when Annabeth told Percy that the Prophecy might be about Nico instead and Percy told her no? That he won't let Nico deal with it? Brother or Lover?
On Page 311, Line one, "Annabeth shivered. "If Like gets hold of him-" "Luke won't." I said "I'll make he's got other things to worry about. Namely me.""
Percy outright said that nothing is touching Nico if he can stop it. I can't tell if I ship them romantically or platonically anymore but I need more Percico of either or both types please!

What does Hades and Persephone think about how they're portrayed in Hades, Hadestown, God Of War, Underworld Love Story, Punderworld, Clash Of The Titans, Percy Jackson books, Marvel, DC and so on since I have always loved that kind of meta
Hades:
On one half: offended. On the other half: flattered.
Seriously, i don't know why would anyone think of me as an enemy for Olympus OR my brother. Sure, he's not exactly easy to deal with, but in the end trying not to involve with him too much is always the better option...
It's not that i don't ACTUALLY like being portrayed as a villain of some short, that's a role i'm used to be seen as and kinda enjoy for a laught. But as much as death is seen as an unpleasant thing, does it really need to be portrayed as evil?
I enjoy the depictions of me as a loving husband tho. I'm glad i can still get credit for that.
---
Persephone:
Most of the time i'm only seen just as either Hades' wife or Demether's daughter, which... it's a part of who i am yes... but i kinda like it more when they explore a bit more of my personality aswell...
I mean, I like to think i have plenty of sides, and when they get to show them it's when i can actually enjoy how i'm getting depicted.
Specially when they make me look villainous. Most people forget about that and i WANT them to know ;)

a quick psa to anyone recently getting into greek mythology and is a victim of tumblr and/or tiktok misconceptions:
-there is no shame in being introduced to mytholgy from something like percy jackson, epic the musical or anything like that, but keep in mind that actual myths are going to be VERY different from modern retellings
-the myth of medusa you probably know (her being a victim of poseidon and being cursed by athena) isn't 100% accurate to GREEK mythology (look up ovid)
-there is no version of persephone's abduction in which persephone willingly stays with hades, that's a tumblr invention (look up homeric hymn to demeter)
-as much as i would like it, no, cerberus' name does not mean "spot" (probably a misunderstanding from this wikipedia article)
-zeus isn't the only god who does terrible things to women, your fav male god probably has done the same
-on that note, your fav greek hero has probably done some heinous shit as well
-gods are more complicated than simply being "god of [insert thing]", many titles overlap between gods and some may even change depending on where they were worshipped
-also, apollo and artemis being the gods of the sun and the moon isn't 100% accurate, their main aspects as deities originally were music and the hunt
-titans and gods aren't two wholly different concepts, titan is just the word used to decribe the generation of gods before the olympians
-hector isn't the villain some people make him out to be
-hephaestus WAS married to aphrodite. they divorced. yes, divorce was a thing in ancient greece. hephaestus' wife is aglaia
-ancient greek society didn't have the same concepts of sexuality that we have now, it's incorrect to describe virgin goddesses like artemis and athena as lesbians, BUT it's also not wholly accurate to describe them as aromantic/asexual, it's more complex than that
-you can never fully understand certain myths if you don't understand the societal context in which they were told
-myths have lots and lots of retellings, there isn't one singular "canon", but we can try to distinguish between older and newer versions and bewteen greek and roman versions
-most of what you know about sparta is probably incorrect
-reading/waching retellings is not a substitute to reading the original myths, read the iliad! read the odyssey! i know they may seem intimidating, but they're much more entertaining than you may think
greek mythology is so complex and interesting, don't go into it with preconcieved notions! try to be open to learn!

[after the Titanomachy] Zeus, locking Kronos in Tartarus: Prepare for a fate worse than death, Kronos. Zeus: Oh, and don't try to escape or you'll suffer even worse. Kronos: Kronos: A fate worse than a fate worse than death? That's pretty bad.

This is my very polite and formal invitation for Apollo and Artemis followers to remember who Helios and Selene are. If you're syncretizing that's all fine and dandy but recognize that you're syncretizing! Question your view of the mythology of your religion! Greek mythology varied by region and time, there is no one "definitive" story or version... so of course the interpretation of the "sun god" or "god associated with the sun/light" or "moon goddess" or "goddess associated with the moon" can become blurry and conflated, but like... you think you just feel out of a coconut tree? you exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you. /ref /hj
Helios and Selene are Titans. As far as I'm concerned, they deserve respect. If you're making choices to view Apollo and Artemis as sun and moon gods, I just want to make sure you know that choice is deliberate and there are other (in my opinion cooler - points to Helios and Selene) options. But that's just my rant and personal opinion. Religion is personal and individual, but I will say that it does frustrate me to no end sometimes to see new worshippers babble about Apollo Sun and Artemis Moon and when you ask if they know who Helios and Selene are they stare at you blankly. Now let me say one last time before some rabid Apollo and Artemis devotees start barking - the interpretation of the Twins as solar/lunar deities is not incorrect, it was just not a part of the "original" versions of the gods. If you're reading this as a follower of either Apollo or Artemis and you don't know the Titans I'm talking about... my dear friend it's time to do some research once more. Blessings to you all on this nice summer afternoon. I'm gonna go squint at Helios in my yard now.

Keep in mind this isn't me hating on Kirke, I love that fucked up goddess she's such a fun character. But goddamn I hate her fans.
Tumblr media
It's all just people trying to push feminism where it wasn't 🙃 Yes, it's true ancient Greece was kinda shitty towards women. But goddamn that was 3000 years ago. We can enjoy these stories but it's important to not push modern perspectives and view points on these stories while also not condoning these actions. Not to mention we may very well experience this kind of thing with future generations that will come after us so it's important to simply stay humble. Civilizations and humans are constantly evolving and viewpoints are constantly changing so it's not exactly fair to history nor ourselves to take these ancient ideologies to heart. Grow up.
Anyways Circe/Kirke is not your hot little witch cutie 🥰 She's a goddess and the daughter of the Sun Titan. She's done terrible things and that's what makes her iconic. Istg if she wasn't so infamous no one would even know about her. She's morally gray and that's what makes her so neat >:D Now, is it unforgivable to paint jer in a good light? No, but I think if you remove ALL of her questionable morality she losses her charms. She isn't the same Kirke anymore. (Looking at you MM, your writing is good but holy shit.)
It's not unforgivable, but it's simply incorrect. If anyone wants to learn more about Kirke's original/actual character, I don't really recommend most modern interpretations- (MM's novel, Hades 2, DC, Odyssey Movies, my bbg Epic the Musical etc...) I'd say just read the Odyssey, reasurch some older mythos and read the Argonautica.
Can you still like these interpretations of Kirke? Yes. Of course. I love Epic's Kirke even though she is pretty inaccurate. You just have to acknowledge they aren't the real thing! :D That happeneds with most characters ngl, no adaptation nor interpretation is going to be 100% accurate to the original, but with Kirke it's always so... Apparent? So visible. They never make her at LEAST 50% accurate. Which 🤬
She was not a victim, she wasn't incredibly horny, she wasn't a girlboss, she wasn't love sick for Odysseus (it's hinted she only found him to be an 'interesting mortal' of sorts) she wasn't 100% cartoon villain of the week either. She's MORALLY GRAY 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
She holds Odysseus' men hostage, she turns Scylla into a monster out of jealousy, she turns a man into a woodpecker because he didn't want to sleep with her. But she ALSO helps out Medea and Jason (even though it's because Medea was her neice but STILL) and she gives Odysseus instructions on how to head home.
She does BAD things that shouldn't be forgiven and aren't at all justified, but she also does GOOD things that should be acknowledged. She's a goddess. She's a character. She's morally gray. WHAT THE FUCK IS NOT CLICKING???? 😀
I just don't like modern interpretations of Kirke and I'm a meanie so I made this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's why I stick to my 3000 year old books instead of these puny ones that were written in my century 💪💪💪
Do not apply feministic messages or themes on Kirke. Nor any Greek mythology figure for that matter. This was 3000 years ago 😀 if you want to focus on feminism FOCUS ON WOMEN WHO ACTUALLY HAD TO STRUGGLE ABOUT THESE THINGS AND THAT EXISTED IN THE 19-21 CENTURY 😀😀😀😀 WHEN PEOPLE KNEW OR WELL WERE SUPPOSED TO KNOW FUCKING BETTER. OR JUST FOCUS ON MODERN FEMALE STRUGGLES THAT ARE RELATABLE??
Also, if I haven't already made it clear. LIKING A CHARACTER ≠ CONDONING THEIR ACTIONS. I'm just talking about all the people who either call her a girlboss, hate on other figures for being morally questionable but turn a blind eye when it comes to Kirke, and people who make fun of Odysseus and call him a man whore for sleeping with Circe and Calypso. (Despite the fact he's a literal victim)
And for the last time:
👏 THIS 👏 IS 👏 NOT👏 A 👏KIRKE 👏 THE GODDESS 👏 HATE 👏 POST. 👏 THIS 👏 IS 👏 ME 👏 SLANDERING 👏 SOME 👏 OF 👏 HER👏 FANS 👏 AND👏 MOST 👏MODERN 👏INTERPETATIONS👏 OF 👏THAT 👏TWISTED 👏MORALLY 👏GRAY👏 BITCH.
Also I made a typo in the meme. God damn it dyslexia. (It's should be 'transforming' not 'transformed')

AU Aesthetics, Romance Club. Ares, the embodiment of war and revenge... or Kaz Brekker
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're too similar,Ares,God of War, and Ares, the brilliant criminal. In addition to their appearance, they are united by their rage, cruelty, and, in fact, real protection of their loved ones. Their bad, They have a very bad reputation in society as cruel people whose actions are regarded as almost demonic and absolutely bloodthirsty.
Kaz is definitely not Athena, as the root cause of his actions is feeling, not coldness. External coldness is the cooling peak of his internal burning heart (thirst for revenge, pain, fear, Love)
Don't steal, this is the original aesthetic of the group
If you scroll far down this group, you will find au aesthetics representing some of the Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone in the personalities of the Greek gods)
