THE TRIAL
[ID : a digital drawing of a pale blue dragon with a mane of icy spikes and dark blue antlers. it has a darker blue underbelly, with black flecks across its scales and green-tinted talons and wings. it is staring up at the sky with blank, white eyes, pressing its talons together in prayer. it is holding a spear in its mouth, the other end stabbed through its neck and dripping dark blue blood. the background is of a muted night sky with faint auroras, and behind the dragons head is a sketchy circle like a halo or eclipse. END ID]

HER OPPOSING A NEW LAW AGAINST HATE CRIMES IS ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE WIDEST DISTRIBUTED FREE NEWSPAPER IN ENGLAND IF NOT THE UK. EVEN IF YOU DON'T READ WHO SHE'S ESSENTIALLY THREATENING WHEN SHE DARES THE COPS TO ARREST HER YOU KNOW SHE'S A PRICK

we need a kipperlilly special on the complicated women podcast - she willingly chose to be possessed, those are some complex ethical and philosophical ramifications. for the sake of the argument i'm assuming porter also has control over her since the shatter star is a part of her, because the morality of choosing to become evil is so interesting. did she think she was going to become a hero somehow, or did she accept that she would have to be a villain to have the power she wanted? she wanted to be better than the bad kids but she kept her moral superiority about fairness and the rules, so was she aware that she couldn't beat the bad kids by playing fair? was her anger always at her own inadequacy, at the fact that she could never excel in the same way they did without cheating? was she projecting the entire time?

I feel that the 2003 Teen Titans cartoon has a weird chokehold over a lot of the DC fandom, particularly the parts that don't actually READ or even like COMICS, to the point where this show, whose creators openly admit had to be simple enough for a toddler to follow, largely informs a lot of fans' interpretations of some pretty complex characters, themes and continuity. The show, specifically, can tend to become nostalgia bait, and I think it's due time for a lot of this fandom to take off their rose-tinted glasses and let the show go.
Like I enjoyed the show growing up and I still have a soft spot for episodes like Lightspeed and Hide & Seek, but...frankly it's a simple show tailored to young kids that just does not, and was never meant to, do justice to the Titans' comic canon. This show could never have done Who is Donna Troy? and conveyed the unlabelableness of Donna and Dick's relationship, but it was never supposed to. Characterisations are intentionally dumbed down, themes are broken down into bite-sized morals, half of the show is dedicated to comedy, and character development is purposely few and far between because this show was designed for kids aged 2-11. And all that is fine but it's just not at all a reflection of what the Titans really are in print. It should not really inform any serious reading of the DC comic universe.
On the one hand, I really didn't need to see a Red X comic arc or Starfire talking in broken english in a comic, it's all just cheap nostalgia bait that people need to stop falling for. It's sacrificing theme in favour of cheap references. On the other hand, I do think the fans I'm talking about probably owe it to themselves to a) be a little more honest and critical about their engagement with DC media, and b) challenge themselves more when engaging in media to avoid wallowing in flanderized fluff.

so would oikawa not swoop in as the doting step father for the reader’s biological kids??
oh no he absolutely would. he'd coo and fuss and promise that he'll be the world's best dad to your babies, regardless of their true parentage. their bio dad might as well be a figment of your imagination because as far as your little family's concerned, he's their father.
until oikawa feels you're not holding up your end of the deal as his loving wife. then those kids he swore to you he'd treat like his own suddenly present themselves as the perfect leverage to bring his unruly wife back under heel.

i was rewatching the available episodes of dungeon meshi earlier when i came across this scene, and was wondering if it was an intentional reference to "jason and the argonauts", because the way this specific skeleton looked and moved reminded me a lot of the skeletons from harryhausen's iconic "children of the hydra's teeth" fight.............

and yup, it sure is a direct reference. same shield design and everything :D

I feel like everyone in rottmnt is dramatic enough to enjoy Musicals but Leo and Donnie in every iterations are the real musical buffs who watch everything and anything together.
Like sure April and Mikey will join them for Heather's and Raph loves Hamilton, but Leo and Donnie watch Cats and Wild Party religiously and sing all the parts together. The only other person in the house who likes Musicals the same as they do is their dad which makes it 'cringe' to them when he sings Chicago along with April is a firm believer he should stay singing Les Mis and away from their musical nights. (Randall has scarred them)
Enter Casey Jones Jr. Future boy who has only grown up hearing Leo and April singing songs to him from various shows that he knows the basic plot to.
So of course Leo and Donnie take it upon themselves to help this poor sweet summer child catch up in his rightful musical education.
