ummm. Oh god. How to start. Lets see. WELL. In this silly little au (i guess it has become a bit more than just me doodling designs LOL) in my head they have like this sort of zelink dynamic? obviously without all the zelda lore & stuff, just that kind of … okay forgive me I haven’t brushed up on my zelink lore for a good many years but. Like the princess and her personal knight that doesn’t really talk much sort of thing.

this made more sense in my head. But yeah. They have the vibes of zelink ? At least if i remember zelink right, I have a really bad memory :’) not exactly the same, i do think etho talks to joel (whereas if iirc link never really talks) - especially after getting to know him a bit - but just. they have the Vibes. You know?

I reckon Joel’s definitely very into sculpting in this au, maybe dabbles a little in painting - I imagine mezalea to be very heavy on art and expression in general. think you’d especially see lots of pottery and textiles all around the place. He probably also has an interest in some form of like. um. whats the word. Some sort of … fighting. lmao. Specifically thinking of fencing, i had this idea in my head that he’s watched Etho practice outside the palace at some point and is just absolutely fascinated and enamored. by both the practice and etho himself haha.

and for etho… talented swordsman? he is Not washed. i dont really have many ideas for his character in this au To be completely honest, mostly just of his personality. Although, I alsooo think he’s probably not actually from mezalea? I like to draw him with those pointy elf ears, and i think mezaleans are just humans. I cant remember if thats canon or not but um. mezaleans have human ears, so i’d imagine etho’s probably from like.. rivendelle? Is that. What it’s called. The elf guys? Are they elves??? Goodness I cant remember. Grimlands would make sense too since i THINK they’re kind of like. technical engineer guys? but i dont know what species they are um so ,,, yeah,,,,

i think joel’s probably a bit put off by etho at first, mostly just because he’s not super enthused about the idea of a personal guard, but also because the guys a bit odd, you know? but he’s also probably suuuper intrigued by him. he wants to figure this new guy out, and when they start talking a bit more, i think. They are both incredibly charmed by the other. head over heels? possibly.

most of my ideas of this au are just little scenes that are cute and silly but dont follow any main plot. I would love to write some one-shots of some of the ideas i have in the future, but as of right now im experiencing a bout of creative burnout and am busy with the holidays - spending time with family, so… not right now lol!

every time i see a post that is like "ughh why cant we have aspec characters who aren't aroace for once" I have to do a double take like "is the aroace rep in the room with us right now?" because genuinely....where is all this aroace rep y'all are complaining about? Drop that 0.01% fic that’s got the right vibe on silco because I’ve YET to find it & keep getting the ick trying to dig through some… creative… fics. NOT TO BE AN ASSHOLE like everyone has different tastes you can write what you want that’s what I do I get it but. I have to go back to the show to see The Truth. Which is that if I put myself within 10 feet of this man I’d be under the heel of his boot before a spec of drool could leave my wanting mouth. I wanna feel the arthritis creaking his knuckles while he tries to see how many times an airway can collapse

So ive been having several thoughts on this both specific to him and also as a whole

how i don't like that every single character (across all fandoms...) manages to get reduced to the same stereotypical lovey (or secretly so) romantic lead archetype, but also how I do love, from the outside, that it exists. especially in the reader ones... like theres something very Cute about people being like no, this character WOULD love me and drop guard for ME only. Less cute when everybody does it the exact same way for every character, the universal template.

Anyway I've actually yet to find any 😭 sometimes I'll think a fic is going good then they whip out the pet names every other sentence, the therapy speak explanation of Feelings, immediate resolution of decades of issues (<- this is present in all fandoms, and extra grating when it comes to characters like This Guy)...which i guess is fair depending on the piece (obvs a 1 chapter work isnt going to have time for all this. It doesnt have to be perfect like that! Actually none of these ppl are doing anything bad, ppl can write whatever they want, but it rly does feel like everyones just copying each other nonstop and sameifying every character vs actually thinking about...the character's personality...its all at the expense of the characters personality...)

Im doing a lot of thinking abt why roleplaying feels different/less natural for me in beastlife s4 in comparison to s3, and i think it’s because there’s ways i know i should be feeling (based on the perception of my character— when i was fresh out of s2 nobody knew enough about my guy to have opinions) vs how i am feeling. I’m catching myself thinking, “it wouldn’t make sense for my character to [blank],” and it’s like… what do i mean by that. what do i mean that this feeling im having in-session “wouldnt make sense for my character” to feel? It might be surprising to other beasts who know me for one thing and expect consistency, i guess?? but in s3 i just acted on feelings and then shit happened. what. why am i trying to enforce a character that does not exist when the strength of mcrp lies in its improvisational nature. I didn’t write this guy on purpose, why am i trying to write him now

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

-> you know i gotta say wiwi. i have to. that character was Made For Me i swear to GOD . genuinely i cannot think about prime defenders season 2 episode 39 without feeling physically sick bc i love it so much. its the only one i havent relistened to since i heard it the first time. i KNOW its gonna make me cry again so i genuienly have not touched it even though theres things in there i need to hear again for character research. his arc is so like. narratively satisfying in a way that hits me so fucking deep to my core in an extremely personal way. and like. there were definitely some Decisions that i was REALLY ANNOYING about hating when they were brought up because im used to media with bad storytelling/creators that do not care about their characters but. looking back on it i would not change a single thing about it. i love you wiwi so much.

-> FOR SUCK.... its not over yet. so i cannot definitively say. campaign finale comes out tomorrow so my answer may change depending on that but for right now i think i gotta say arthur. i joke a lot about hating arthur for no real reason in particular but. man his story is just REALLY good. not going 2 give you suck spoilers (hehe) but i also really like how shilo has grown through the campaign. hes my little guy :]

-> oh dude i have so many hmmmmmmm how to choose just one. i have a LOT of feelings about wiwis original death and i might write something about that when i can get over my shrimp emotions about him. dakota cole audhd truther but that ones pretty much canon anyway so i dont think it counts. vyncent and his relationship with growing up in fantasy world and then being thrown into prime and how he adjusted to that. I think he really lies shitty syfy channel type horror movies that are so stupidly bad. and also plays a lot of video games but again i think thats mostly canon already. i think tide listens to dad rock but also like. ocean man by ween. you already know about my william and ashe being each others emotional support at concerts. i think william and ashe should hang out and do emo kid things more. i also have a lot of feelings about ashe and coping with the crippling loneliness of basically growing up alone and how the pd becoming like INSTANT best friends was so much for him in sooo many ways. you already know how i feel about mark i am in the middle of dissecting him like im in a high school biology class as we speak. uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i know im gonna think of something really good after i hit the post button so stay tuned

People grow and change! And sometimes how we show ourselves to the world has to change too. It's nothing to feel guilty about, and you're not throwing away the history with your old avatar. You can acknowledge and move forward, looking back fondly.

Several years ago I switched my main species from cat to rabbit. There were several reasons for this change, but looking back now, I'm definitely not that same person who was showing the cat to the world; rabbit fits me so much better.

Except now that it doesn't. Transitioning, and going through my own journey as a gender fluid person made me realize that having multiple fursonas is a better way for me to express where I am on the gender spectrum in any given day.

What I'm getting at is life is a journey, and you're going to change on that journey, and it is wonderful and fantastic. There's nothing that says you are avatar can't change along with you.

Absolutely! Well said. I try not to feel too bad, especially having experience with making radical shifts in how I present myself anyways with gender stuff, but I guess more than anything I feel kind of sad for myself that I've changed to where they don't fit anymore after being with them for so long. Which is logically silly of course, ultimately it's pretty cool to change so drastically and move on to new things and continue pursuing what makes one happiest even if it's different from what it used to be. I think a lot of people aren't as happy as they could be specifically because they refuse to change and adapt to their own needs.

But thank you for the lovely response! I feel weird about the whole thing at the moment because it almost feels like I'm grieving a different me a little bit, but I will carry on happier as a result for sure. A lot of this is specifically about my transition too. Rainy is who I've had the whole time I've been agender but was too scared to push further into transitioning more completely or changing my presentation 'too drastically' and it feels like that mental place is kind of stuck on them for me. Like I can't carry them with me into the next place I'm going. They're like a moment of my life captured in amber, much like my first fursona is for my teen years. Applying who I am now to them feels...weirdly wrong, somehow. But it'll all be just fine in the end =) I love them always, but just need a different muse for a different time.

no its not that, most of the people who actually believe sonic is named sonny probably dont even know who uncle chuck is since a lot of them dont know much about sonic lmao

basically theres an old sonic series bible from the 90s by sega of america who wanted to give sonic a backstory while also ignoring what sega of japan wanted to do with sonic. its all a bunch of obviously non canon stuff that was never referenced in the games at all like sonic originally being a normal hedgehog named sonny who lived in nebraska and had 5 sisters. i dont feel like getting into everything but if you wanna read about it theres a page on the sonic wiki that summarizes it i think. but all of these ideas were abandoned decades ago and aren't canon

a few years ago some youtuber made a video going over the stuff that was in the sonic bible and it got a couple million views which caused a bunch of people who know nothing about sonic to just. accept everything in the sonic bible as canon information. so now theres a bunch of people in the notes of my post trying to tell me that sonics birth name is canonically sonny and its making me become the joker

all these characters suck a little bit. the generals? suck. walters? sucks. sonic? sucks. tom? sucks. robotnik sucks so fucking bad. stone sucks. maddie sucks. every agent sucks. gerald sucks. shadow kind of sucks. maria might be the only character that doesn’t suck frankly, and she’s still rollerblading in the hallways.

this of course comes from a very simplistic/pessimistic and overly critical pov, but like. every g.u.n. associated character is working for the us gov. tom and wade are cops. sonic is self-absorbed. maddie hits her husband. gerald is a misogynist [on top of everything else]. rockwell is anti-alien in a way that is, textually, shitty. g.u.n. as an organization still built the eclipse canon! fucking why? because they suck!

these facts dont keep me from enjoying the characters or story, but they are facts. the jokes are also canon, y’know? the framing of the story is what flavors them, makes them less than human. they are just characters. but if you think about what you’re shown for longer than a week, about the parallels, about them as people, stuff starts clicking into place. none of these characters are perfect, because a perfect person 1: doesn’t exist, and 2: is deeply uninteresting.

turns out the the default state of humanity is just sucking a bit.
