I think my lizard is going to die :(

Hey guys, my pet lizard is pretty sick, and I cannot afford to take her to a vet because my dog has also recently been sick and all of my money has gone to his vet bills. My dog is fine for right now, but the lizard is not.

She is open mouth breathing (really bad sign), has been refusing food, and thus has lost weight. I suspect she has a respiratory infection. If I were to be able to take her to a vet, I believe they would prescribe her Baytril (antibiotic to fight the infection) and Critical Care to increase her weight, and maybe also something special to soak her in rather than just warm water, just to help keep her hydrated as she is also looking dehydrated. With all of this, I imagine I would be looking at a bill of around $150-$200, or maybe even a little bit more, which i simply do not have right now, especially since I cannot work for the next 4 weeks.

I really don't want to lose her. So I am asking for money to take her to a vet. If I can raise at least $150-$175, I can find a way to cover the rest if it ends up being a bit more than that.

In the meantime, my plan for her care is twice daily soaks in warm water to keep her hydrated, keeping her in a smaller quarantine tank so I can easily monitor her health as right now she is in a larger one with a mate. She might be eating, but i can't really tell since the other one may be the one getting the food, but I've just moved her to the smaller tank, so I will try to give her some food. If she doesn't eat over the weekend, I have some liquid meal that I can syringe feed to her, but she hates being handled like that. But keeping her fed and hydrated is really all I can do to help make her more comfortable while she tries to fight the infection. There is nothing I can do for her respiratory infection without medical treatment. If any reptile owners out there have any advice for me, i'd appreciate it.

Eldritch/not-entirely-human Grunkle Stan stories have been eating away at my brain, so I have a silly little concept of Mimic!Stan.

He and his Mystery Shack are both mimics that lure tourists in as a literal "tourist trap" to gather and devour them! Since the house is alive, it raises a few (read: several) child safety concerns that lead to a LOT of rules to be created for Dipper and Mabel to follow when they eventually arrive, such as:

Be careful not to get lost in the winding hallways! The Mystery Shack is bigger on the inside, and you don't want to end up in the wrong areas.

Don't go through randomly appearing doors, they may eat you.

If you think you feel the walls around you breathing and the floor beneath you shifting, no, you don't.

If you think the walls feel a bit damp, you're imagining it.

Watch your fingers around windowsills! You wouldn't want to lose any of them.

Don't linger too long under the doorframes; it may start feeling like they are slowly constricting around you.

I actually think Dorian and Orym should fight more.

Remember when their slowly building tension over and entire episode (full of passive aggressive remarks and blame throwing) led to threats? And how after, Orym thanked Dorian for handing over the crown sadly because he knew Dorian would be mad at him? And Dorian couldn't even look at him because he was legitimately hurt, thinking Orym was disappointed in him for doing what he thought was right? That was peak.

The fact they went from that to their current closeness and trust is the best part of their entire dynamic. Their relationship was hard fought and still will be. They will fight for it because they respect and care for one another deeply, and their disagreements don't change that, only improve it.

#I watched it today it was so good #im not big on dinosaur stuff but i like how it was used to approach the predator/prey conversation especially when both sides are sentient #instead of just defaulting to well since predators are meat eaters their actions are automatically immoral so their role in the story #has to match. and then when your characters /are/ meat eaters you just step around that whole topic #heart knows he has to kill and eat so there’s no avoiding it but even he knows he has agency over that #hell he even decided to hunt by himself so umasou doesn’t have to see him kill and eat another dinosaur a day after meeting him #and maybe its because it’s a kids movie but it also doesn’t make a big show over the act of hunting and eating. it doesn’t dwell on it #like yes you can clearly see them ripping into guts minus the graphic details but it doesnt go out of its way to censor it either #its played straight just like hearts mom having more kids like nobody asks who the father is or when that happened cuz it doesn’t matter #what matters is she still loves heart and encourages her kids to greet their big brother and they do!!! it’s sweet #Beckon was also an interesting touch bc they make it clear the only reason he doesnt eat umasou is bc he cant and not that he wouldn’t #but he’s still a funny and interesting character and that doesn’t get in the way of how we see him too much #same for baku he was pretty polite with heart esp from the start when he asks him if hes abandoned implying he would be prepared to #look out for him from the start. and at the end when he decides to spare him. It's just such a thing in my mind because it adds a truthful sadness and differing aspect to mouthwashing.

If Curly was trans it adds the horror of the horribly selfish thought he could have easily been in Anya's situation. It could've been him but it wasn't and he so conflicted on the pit it put in his stomach that brings and the shameful relief it wasn't. In this scenario he is friends with Jimmy for a long time still. Jimmy likely knew him pretransition. Maybe he gave Curly weird looks then, maybe they never stopped after, maybe they seemed meaner. They are guys now, bros, both of them are. He doesn't really have to worry what those looks mean anymore, Jimmy just has that face with him sometimes. It's recontextualizing a lot of things for him that he was in denial about or too ashamed to admit. How naive he was being and how he let that get another person hurt.

Specifically with Anya, it's he knows the dread and fear she's feeling. He can understand it because he had to live with it for a good portion of his life, he knows it cause he still does, just in a slightly different way. It makes him think of all the times he's been alone with Jimmy, all the times he's been way more drunk off his ass and not remember the night, Jimmy was always with him the next day. Makes him think of the comments he would laugh off both because that's what guys do but because that part of being a girl says to laugh so Jimmy doesn't do something. It's the selfish realization that he was never safe and he's uncertain now too. Mad at himself for forgeting that feeling, espcially since for a long time he would've been considered the only woman on a crew (with all that implies) for a long time.

He should've taken those blinders off, step back into that position for just a moment and it's so much more painful that Anya likely came to him because he should've gotten it. Those thoughts don't leave his mind after the crash when he's in an even more vulnerable position than she was...

#this is less headcanons and more my thoughts of the intersectional horror this brings to mouthwashing which is also a thing it #already has but more directly in the mix vs just the class gender and positional struggle. like the idea he waited to confront Jimmy becaus #he could conceptualize the crime better because of experience with womanhood and also how it would've destroyed him in terms of being trans #like its weird to word as a comparison but thats kinda how empathy works as in an understanding and ability to project through aspects #like you found out your friend who has always had weird feelings about and relating to you is a rapist and got one of your other friend #pregnant and is now being openly hostile and aggressive towards you. You have only a few days to really think on all of this all the years #with him and how many oppurtunites he had that you blame yourself for giving him both in life and to do to you. yknowwww there is something... deeply uncomfortable about the way mel never speaks directly to viktor in the 'build hextech weapons' scene. she really only speaks to jayce. plenty of people have pointed this out already but like the one scene they actually share a meaningful interaction and she treats him like he's beneath her. all this after jayce has emphasized how important viktor is, that hextech is theirs, together. she unequivocally ices him out, there's no other way to interpret this scene. the way it's shot too - from viktor's perspective, looking up at her, as though to reinforce the same belief in him. like he doesn't even bother expecting respect from her - or anyone from the upper echelon of piltover. he's fully accustomed to being dehumanized by everyone around him at this point. sometimes even by jayce, despite the trust they clearly have in each other.

#dont open these tags unless you want to read an essay im so serious #quick disclaimer i do properly ship jayvik as of s2e9 aha #sorry abt the like. spam. but yk this what rewatching an insanely detailed show with fresh eyes does to a mfer #arcane #.txt #i think mel and jayce (among others) both exhibit the same kind of casual classism #jayce somewhat more obviously with his whole 'the zaunites are dangerous' spiel #and mel more subtly. its in the way she shows very little concern for the plight of the undercity until yk. it explodes in her face #she's been on the council for a decade. has done little but rub elbows with the elites of piltover and amass her own fortune #pretty clear she hasn't so much as blinked at the horrific state of zaun. this makes her a very willing participant in its oppression fyi #and then of course her treatment of viktor #ive seen it pretty heavily debated and i don't really see any reason to deny or defend these actions of hers #likewise when jayce accosts viktor and reprimands him for going to the undercity or makes a hextech weapon there's no reason to excuse him #these are clear examples of classist behaviour and i dont think it does anybody any favours to ignore it #jayvik #<-tagged bc those who do not want to read criticism of or about mel will likely have it blocked #im not here to stir the pot thanks #there's also something a bit kooky about the idea of 2 privileged rich kids commiserating about the sad state of the undercity #meanwhile a literal resident of said undercity whose perspective they could REALLY use is dying in a lab using his own body to try and #cure a common zaunite ailment/disease #meanwhile they wont help until they feel piltover is 'safe' (aka has WMDs to use against any perceived threat aha....)#anyway #its all very complicated and i dont doubt that their intentions were good (...mostly) but the road to hell and all that #it just rly bothers me that viktor was like. right there. a wealth of insight into zaun. and neither jayce nor mel even bother engaging him

yay i gave him a name

#tbh im not a good storyteller so it's hard for me to come up with a plot given a setting #usually i have a plot and then see what settings i can add. but this time it's the opposite #or should i say... the actual correct thing to do...#that is. given that you have a full character with specific intent and you wanna express something tho. im not that deep #anyway i tried to not just make everyone call him arti without properly introduce the name in this series #and if you want the author's interpretation...#(also proves that i don't do much literature because apparently anti-intentionalism is the current fashion)#vauban is using pen and paper because he's still an inventor and likes to mess around with ideas more with pen and paper than with a tablet #he doesn't really care about details in life so when vauban thought calling him the corpus is sufficient enough to identify him-#-he didn't even think about asking his name before until he realize how rude he was (we don't discriminate against corpus on ship okay)#and as for the name artifex... let's just say i want him to be more than an ordinary crewmate #warframe #warframe vauban #warframe corpus #my art
